Speaker: Hey folks, welcome back to Breaking Math. I'm your host, Autumn Finaf, and today's episode isn't ah about our usual deep dive. Think of it as little bit behind-the-scenes update because the past week has been, well, let's just say technologically interesting.

Speaker: On Monday, started getting messages from listeners, friends, and family Lots of them saying that our show had disappeared. And sure enough, breaking math was completely gone from Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, everywhere.

Speaker: Not just a little hiccup by any means. The entire show was off the air. No warning, no error message, just gone. Naturally, I reached out to everyone, our ah hosting platform, Spotify, Apple, and YouTube. YouTube was a simple quick fix.

Speaker: I just happened to need to re-upload everything, and Spotify reset us pretty quickly. Apple... Yeah, ah I've got problems with Apple right now. And that's still a mystery as I'm recording the show. But I'll leave it as we're working on it But Apple takes quite a while to get the actual results that we need, as we have learned. Here's the weird part of it.

Speaker: It turns out that our RSS feed, you know, the thing that distributes our episodes to every single platform, got crossed with another podcast called My Brother Mine by Hand Forge Fiction.

Speaker: And somehow our feeds ended up merging. Their show appeared on our Spotify page. Our ratings showed up on their Apple listings. and even our YouTube feeds tangled together.

Speaker: At first, I thought it was a hack. But after some digging, it looks like there was a glitch in the system. The team ended up moving from the same hosting platform that we had So...

Speaker: so I can't tell you what really transpired, but Eric, if you're listening, he's the CEO of Hand Forged Fiction.

Speaker: have to say thank you for being so helpful with this. um Give the team a follow, blow up their social medias. They are well deserving of everything good that comes their way for helping us with this.

Speaker: Now, today, which is Thursday evening when I'm recording and hopefully uploading this, YouTube and Spotify are back online. Apple and iHeartRadio, well, they're still sorting things out and we're waiting for updates.

Speaker: our stuff kind of disappeared. So the metadata is just floating in the ether. But the good news is that none of our episodes were lost. The worst case, we might have to rebuild some of our presence on one platform or the other, but at least the very core content that we have has been safe. So a little lesson for anyone who likes a certain content creator. It doesn't mean it's just us. It's anyone, really.

Speaker: um the best way to stay connected is to follow us on social media. Technology is really great until it isn't. And when it glitches, that's how you know where to find us.

Speaker: And for those who prefer ad-free listening, we'll be putting all of our interviews on YouTube without ads until we're fully monetized there, giving you that as a little incentive to go follow us on YouTube.

Speaker: So despite the chaos, we've got some incredible guests lined up in and the next few weeks, and I really can't wait to share some of these conversations with you. So... No matter what happens behind the scenes, there will be a new episode on Tuesday come hell or high water.

Speaker: So thanks for sticking with us. Thanks for listening. And we'll see you on Tuesday. Peace out.
