00:01:15
Speaker
I'm Philip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. And I'm Jeff. And welcome to another episode, gentlemen. What happened last time?

Meeting with Lucas Stark and Journey to Sivus Enclave

00:01:27
Speaker
We met with Lucas Stark. Yep. Yes. We... We decided at the end to go and see what we could see around the... Oh, goodness. Not Sivus Enclave. Who was it? You're correct. Yes, Sivus. Okay. Nailed it.
00:01:45
Speaker
the civis enclave and um the dice gave us some presents and now we've got uh the doctor quote unquote doctor in our sights yes doctor is in dr pepper yeah what are they called inverted commas in england yeah yeah uh okay well then let me clear this out um

Preparation for the Chase

00:02:11
Speaker
I need initiative from you all for this chase scene that has begun. To remind you all, the Doctor is a medium range band away.
00:02:21
Speaker
which means in order to catch up, you will have to gain three maneuvers on him. Where that's going, man. I'm guessing he wants to roll Vigilance since we were kind of, were we surprised we saw him or were we thinking we might, since we came here to see if we could see him? I mean, you all were in the middle of apprehending someone else when he came out. And so I would say Vigilance, yes. You all were not. And you say two purple, yes. No difficulty on an initiative roll. Oh, that's right.
00:02:49
Speaker
Wait, wait, wait, what are we rolling? Vigilance. Vigilance, okay. Is it always vigilance and I'm just dumb? Not always. Sometimes it's cool. If you all are doing an ambush, then it's cool. Yeah, whenever we plan something and the plan goes well, we'll get to roll cool. So yes, always vigilance. You've gotten to roll cool before.
00:03:08
Speaker
I'm not complaining. I have two yellow and vigilance. I love getting surprised. Okay. So NPC, then four PC slots is the initiative order. Milo, you got to try. Milo, you got a triumph. So you can use that to get a bonus maneuver before things start. So is Milo just going after this guy?
00:03:36
Speaker
Um, how far, how many, how many, how much range is he away? He is a medium range band. So it takes three maneuvers to move a medium range band. Well, I mean, Milo gets a one free one so he can move and then move again. Well, you're not, you don't get your turn. You just get a bonus maneuver. Yeah, let's head that way. Okay. So.
00:04:04
Speaker
Milo, you are now within two maneuvers of him. Okay, so it is his turn.

The Doctor's Escape Attempt

00:04:13
Speaker
So he is obviously taking off running. So he is going to use his maneuver to move a range band away. And then he is going to use his action to try and
00:04:29
Speaker
You know, it's midday in shard. He's going to try to go through the crowd and maybe get lost a bit like. So who has the highest perception in the crew? Not me. I don't believe it's me.
00:04:50
Speaker
I got two green. I got a yellow and two green. That would be Milo. Milo. So his difficulty is going to be one red, two purple against Milo's perception. So you don't need to roll anything, Randy. Right. And Milo's run closer. So maybe a setback. Sure. A lot of setback to reflect Milo being like that.
00:05:12
Speaker
Um, okay. Uh, I'm going to, no, I'm not. I was going to flip story point, but so two green against one red, two purple and a black zero success, three threat. So he tries to disappear into a crowd and just shoulders into people who are not moving. Like they're, they're just looking at him like, why, why did you run into me? You goon. Um, what do we want to do with the three threat gang?
00:05:47
Speaker
He trips and falls. That's pretty threatening. Yeah, for him. Well, could the three... His wooden leg falls off. What is the... Okay. What is the... It wasn't me. It was the one legged man.
00:06:12
Speaker
the check you just had him make yes did you make that more difficult because of the crowd is that part was part of that
00:06:21
Speaker
No, it was opposed to Milo's perception, and Milo has one yellow, two green, so. Could his next check to get away with Three Threat be upgraded to, you know, one of the purples becomes a red, depending on what the check is. Had an upgrade to his next check? Because he's pissed off the crowd, and now, like, there's some, a little bit of vengeful working against him, even. Like, oh, you wanna get up to the front, like, at a concert? Yeah. Sure, sure, sure, cool. We're gonna all just lock shoulders now.
00:06:49
Speaker
Sure. Yeah. Is that fair? I mean, that's that. Is that enough for me? Yeah. OK. Fun with me.

Chase Strategy and Maneuvers

00:06:59
Speaker
OK, we have a PC slot, so he is two range bands away or two maneuvers away from Milo three away from the rest of you. Who would like to go?
00:07:17
Speaker
And you also, Milo has to, so Hob should not go, because Hob is currently caught in Milo's net. Oh, that's right. That's right. As is this half elf woman that you all accosted. So. I suppose I'll just have a conversation with her when the time comes for me. And Eris is in Tasha.
00:07:39
Speaker
Yes, that's true. Eris is in the vehicle and the vehicle is right here. Yes. So if it would be convenient for anyone to leap into the vehicle before Eris takes off. I'll do it. Reynard will jump in. Okay, so Reynard's taking his turn to enter Tasha. Yeah. Anything else you would like to do? Could Reynard with his action attempt to like
00:08:07
Speaker
I mean, can Raynard shoot to shoot to injure? You could do a like a called shot to try and shoot him in the knee or the ankle. Careful, because I've been shooting to kill here recently. So shoot him in his wooden leg. So he doesn't have a wooden leg. We don't know that. We don't know that. I'm telling you, spoilers everyone. Sorry to give up the goose, but yeah, I'm going to say it again.
00:08:34
Speaker
Yeah, I'm going to anchor my brain to that turn of phrase. That was two. So for a called shot, you're going to do a ranged attack. He is medium distance away. So it's two purple difficulty. OK. And because it's a called shot, you add two black dice to it because you're aiming for something specific.
00:09:00
Speaker
Okay. Well, all we have four story points. Yes. Let's turn one. Cause I don't want to kill him. Okay. Cool. Um, so, so that nothing changes the bad dice. It just changes one of my good ones, right? Yes. From green to yellow.
00:09:17
Speaker
Additionally, in order to pull all of this off, Reynard, you have to suffer two strain because you used a maneuver to get into Tasha and it's a maneuver to aim for the called shot. So you need to suffer two strain. Here we go. Did it sound like I was done? I was going to make it. Yeah. Add one more black because you're shooting into a crowd.
00:09:40
Speaker
Oh, this isn't going to go well, gang. Or failure or advantage. What in the world exclusively rolled advantage on those yellow dice? Yeah. Wowzer. OK, fine. So for failure, you don't need your shot, but you do have for advantage. What would you like to do with that? I would like to.
00:10:09
Speaker
have shot a bag of marbles that is in his direction for advantage is a lot and they're on the ground so he's gonna be running on marbles hooray
00:10:27
Speaker
That's the first thing that came to my mind. I will. I will. Yes. And you. Well, I will. Maybe this and take the idea. We're hovering around impediment of movement and we're going to find something in that space now. You managed to you aimed a little high and a little to the left and you shot his coin purse. And so coins have spilled into the street and people are
00:10:53
Speaker
diving for the coins and so it's- A Robin Hood of you. Yeah, it's impeding his movement. So he's not tripping on marbles, he's tripping on people who are also angry at him for bumping into him. And I say, Eris, pull over, I need those. So essentially what this will equate to is he will have to spend strain to take a maneuver next turn. He'll have to force his way through people.
00:11:22
Speaker
Okay. Okay. All right. Next PC slot. Milo should go so that hob has options. So you don't have to do anything to drop the spell. You just have to not use your maneuver to concentrate. So at the end of your turn, the net will go away. Okay. That's what we shall do.

Milo's Spells and the Doctor's Capture

00:11:43
Speaker
Okay. So what would you like to do on your turn? You are two maneuvers away from this guy. Actually three now cause he used a maneuver to get away.
00:11:52
Speaker
And if I use a maneuver now, that's going to cost me two strain because I'm going to, I have to use one to stop concentrating, right? Nope. You don't have to do anything to, you have to use a mover to concentrate. Then the spell ends. Okay. Okay. Well, I will move up one. Okay. Try to get closer. And I mean, the web seems to be,
00:12:20
Speaker
doing its thing, even to my friends. So I say, let's try that again. Okay. So with the distance, um, let me
00:12:40
Speaker
So Milo's moved, so he should be at short range or medium. Now he's still medium because short is only one maneuver band away, but Ryan is three. So, um, okay. So you're trying to do your spell. So you have to add one purple to increase the distance to medium range. Okay.
00:13:06
Speaker
Or yeah. And then so you can't do your net because that would take you up to six purple and the max is five. OK. So. OK, yeah. You have like a stun quality to an attack spell. I don't know what the.
00:13:37
Speaker
Attack is not a spell I have, so I don't know what to. Lightning gives the the lightning quality. I have. How about. I have one that I can like a ensnare. So with that ensnare, what does that do to?
00:14:00
Speaker
Well, those are pre-made spells that are created. So read to me all of the properties of ensnare, because that's not. The ground around the target quickly loses heat. The resulting drop in temperature causes ice to form around their legs. What does it do? It's successful. It for my damage plus one for each success. It also has an ensnare rating equal to my arcana knowledge. OK, so that's just the attack spell with the ice.
00:14:30
Speaker
added to it. So that would be a hard difficulty with a medium range. Cool. If you would like to do that. Yeah, let's do that. Okay. So three purple difficulty. I am going to flip a story point to upgrade one of those to a red
00:15:02
Speaker
Um, okay. All right. I'm ready to roll. Do it to success to threat. Okay. So, um, the damage would be seven because it's your intellect plus your wand plus success. Right. And your wand is plus three. So seven damage.
00:15:29
Speaker
And then my knowledge lower is three. Okay. For the ensnare. And that makes him immobilized. Or.
00:15:51
Speaker
three rounds, but they can make an athletics check to break free. Okay. I just wanted to make sure that there was some recourse for him because if not, okay, we're done. Okay. So, so yeah, I mean, describe you, you shot ice at this guy and also the crowd around him. Yeah.
00:16:11
Speaker
Milo, wand in hand, does a little flick of the wrist and this little black jet shoots out and as it continues to sail towards its target it just turns into a beam of pure ice and hits the ground at the doctor's feet and then coalesces up and starts weaving and wrapping itself around his legs
00:16:39
Speaker
OK, I mean, to threat, you have affected the I mean, people were literally crawling at his feet to try and get the coins that had been shot out of his purse. So there has have been some people affected by the spell as well. So they're freaking out and the other people around them are freaking out. And yeah, so there's commotion happening. Milo is going ice ice.
00:17:09
Speaker
the world ice okay and so milo moved up so milo is two away everyone else is still three away um okay it is now pc slot hob or hob you are now free so is the half elf yeah um
00:17:32
Speaker
or Eris can go in Tasha, but I don't know. I'm not going to get to him this turn, period. Can Tasha? What is Tasha's speed? Max's speed is two, because what I would absolutely love is for Hob to just sort of hang on the rail of Tasha and me to just fly Hob right over this dude. You know what? I don't hate that. We're allowed to have those conversations. You can just tell me that, Phillip, and I'll do it.
00:18:03
Speaker
Yes, that sounds cool to me. I don't know. I don't know how we merge our turns to achieve that, but that's, um, that's what I would dig. I mean, if Eric would allow me to use my maneuver to get to Tasha and just clamp on and then hold my action, you take off and then my action is just to you like athletics check or something to hold on. Yeah.
00:18:33
Speaker
the book says at speed one, you move to range bands. Okay. And can we spend story point to take a combo action to let me haul hob into, into attack range? Yes. So, okay. Describe to me how
00:19:02
Speaker
Like, narratively, is Aeris going to be flying above the crowd and Hob is going to be diving down or is Aeris going on street level and? I think since he's in a crowd, it would have to be above the crowd because Aeris isn't going to, you know, willfully injure a whole bunch of bystanders by driving into, by flying into the crowd.
00:19:22
Speaker
And also, I'm relatively sure that this person is rooted to the ground by ice now. So if I was trying to snatch them, I might rip them in half. Right. That's also fair. So yeah, so I'm like flying. So we can do this. Yes. Flip a story point and I will let you combine your turns into a single. So basically what?
00:19:42
Speaker
If Eris, if Hobb grabs the railing of Tasha, Eris waits for Hobb to grab Tasha, and then Tasha swoops up and sort of tilts to one side so that she can swoop Hobb directly over our quarry.
00:20:08
Speaker
Yeah, and I don't think Hub is necessarily interested in attacking. If they're incapacitated by this ice, I think Hub just wants to be there for when the ice goes away to stop them from moving from them, right? I mean, they're not incapacitated at all. He gets a roll or it's something. He'll get a check. I'm sorry. Incapacitate is the wrong word. Immobilized. They're not, I mean, I don't know. I understand that Genesis is weird and that knocked out doesn't mean knocked out and unconscious means fully conscious. But if there's ice attached to the ground that is going up their legs,
00:20:38
Speaker
All I'm saying is on his turn, he gets a check to try and break out of the ice. And then at that point, he would have the option to move. He's immobilized until he breaks out of the ice. And there is no sort of opportunity attack or anything in this system that would if I was just right there. OK, yeah, I get you. Then, yeah, I guess when I dropped out, I clocked this dude. So you tell me what I need to roll to make this what we need to roll to make this possible.
00:21:07
Speaker
I mean, this is, so you could do it as not an attack. You could just try to land right at him and like apprehend him. I mean, I would let you, as part of a successful athletics check, break his feet out of the ice while in your custody, if that makes sense. Because if this knucklehead can twist his ankle hard enough to break the ice, then surely Hob could
00:21:36
Speaker
just pop him out. So an athletics check to like basically attempt to get him under control. Or you could do a combat check with an obvious upgrade since you're flying in from a vehicle doing like a diving Falcon Punch. Right.
00:21:58
Speaker
to knock him out, or, yeah. Because he's already taken seven wounds. Right, and I guess it's clear I would be trying to deal non-lethal damage. Yes, yes, yes. So, either of those options are available to you. Okay, so you're saying with an athletics check, I could reasonably pull this person from the ice and we could basically scoop him and fly off with him. Oh. Uh.
00:22:25
Speaker
Because otherwise, why would I be breaking him out of the ice? To stand there with him. Well, if I'm going to do that, I may as well clock him. So we'll do combat. I clock him. I was just presenting your two options. You can tell me that one of them is dumb. I didn't say it was dumb. I just said I didn't want to do it because it's dumb.
00:22:44
Speaker
OK, so it's a melee check, but we're going to make it one red, one purple because you're flying out of the air to do it. OK. I think you moved the difficulty the wrong direction.
00:22:57
Speaker
awesome of Superman punching that obviously upgrade his check. You said it's one red, two purple? One red, one purple. I have recently watched all the Fast and the Furious movies and this sort of thing is way more effective than a regular standing punch. That is fully true. Especially if you will do a flying headbutt. That's really the
00:23:19
Speaker
Yeah, if that's a theory that you've taught me one thing, it's no plan has ever gone wrong when a vehicle's involved. It's just every dumb thing they try to do works perfectly. So it's automatically upgraded. And each of you should get a blue just for originality. Look, I'm pretty sure this helicopter can operate underwater. That's all I'm saying. Colin was telling me, though, Philip, that the most egregious part of that franchise to you was the fact that they were grilling ribs over an open flame. Constantly. They were constantly cooking ribs over an open flame.
00:23:51
Speaker
I mean, that's not gonna not cook them. But then acting as though it was a good meal. Okay. I think I'm ready. Okay. Boom. One success, one triumph. I think the triumph is we actually scoot off with this guy. He spills his guts, emits everything.
00:24:18
Speaker
Um, yeah, I mean, I'll, I'll say if you want, can you scoop him the triumph to be like, yeah, that you're, you're able to very, at the very least, can we do this? Can we grab, can I grab the back of his collar ice breaks and we just get out of the crowd?
00:24:36
Speaker
just out of the perimeter of the crowd, couple streets over. It's a triumph, I'll let you scoop. Don't ask for minimum, don't ask for minimum wage, or pass that. Okay, so as he's frantically trying to get his legs loose from this ice, as people are literally stealing his coins all around him, and people are screaming that their hands have been frozen to the ground. They can get out.
00:25:05
Speaker
with a hard athletics check. I mean, Aeris, it's a joint action, so you all tell me what this looks like. Tell me what they're wearing. Is it like just a coat and just grab on the back of their collar kind of thing and yoink? Yeah, he's wearing what Grace described in his wearing. It's something designed to look
00:25:27
Speaker
Nice, but is cheaply made. So, trying to think of what brand I want to dunk on. A JCPenney suit. Okay, first off, how dare you? Second, almost all their locations are closed, so he's not getting one. You're kicking someone while they're down. Well, there's a reason why they're down. I would say my first four Easter suits were probably from JCPenney's.
00:25:56
Speaker
and I looked adorable. I was 25. I have a thought, Philip, tell me what you think of this. What if, what if this is a silly thing that Eris and Ob have talked about doing before, and so just like, here's my thought, right as Hob's about to make contact with the person, Eris guns it,
00:26:26
Speaker
we grab, and then she slams on the brakes, and the momentum just flips him up into the boat and we take off. Yes, absolutely, 100%. And Hob stays hanging, because Hob's fine. He uses, between his force and the sudden braking. Yeah, I wanted to like, despite the fact that we're in the air, I want to fishtail around in the air, like it's a drift. Hell yeah. Lower Memphis Drift should have never had you watch those movies. I'm going to take a lot of driving talents.
00:26:58
Speaker
It's all about family Oh God
00:27:22
Speaker
It was a cultural touch point I never thought I would have with Philip, and I don't like it. Okay, just as a point of... But yes, that's what I want to do. I want that to happen.
00:27:33
Speaker
Um, just as a point of flavor, uh, and because hob, you didn't like go down and crack the ice and pull him up. You just, he ganked him. Um, as he comes up, you see that his shoes and the like bottom, like quarter of his pants have been ripped off and left behind. So he's basically corn capris and socks. I don't know why you're telling me that I didn't roll extra advantage. Um, and he just like,
00:28:04
Speaker
What are you what are you doing? What do you want with me? And we are out of initiative. Well, Milo is still on the ground back there. So bye, Milo. Milo's picking up your coins. How much money does Milo end up with? That's exactly right. Touch him and I'll freeze your hands. Make a roll. So so do you all swing back around to pick up Milo?
00:28:32
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, at some point we pick up Milo. Yes. Yeah. Not in the same way. Right. No. Unless he wants to. Yeah. OK, so, yeah, he's he's as you all are scooping up Milo. What do you what do you want with me? Who are you? Who sent you? I'm driving. Someone else is going to talk.
00:28:59
Speaker
Am I in the boat? Everyone's in the boat. OK. And Eris will at this point be headed towards and unless someone objects or set or names another destination, Eris will begin to head towards the precinct where Verla works. OK, that's what I figured. Um. I think Hobb. Hobb tries to do the gotcha thing and he just goes. All right.
00:29:28
Speaker
We know what you did to Billy Taylor. Perception check. On his face. His bearded, pockmarked face. Oh, I guess I should have given you a difficulty. Yeah, that makes sense, huh? I just pushed buttons. One red, one purple. Do I just roll the red and purple and cancel out everything I just did?
00:29:53
Speaker
Okay, so one success. You see a flash of anxiety on his face, just like... I don't know who Billy Taylor is. I think that that's surely possible. Iris called him a cretin. Okay. I thought you said threaten him and I was like, yeah, I'm working on it.
00:30:23
Speaker
Well I believe that's certainly possible, that you don't know the name of the man that you said had it.
00:30:28
Speaker
Uh, what did he say? Let me look it up. Hobb would have that at the top of his mind. What was the diagnosis of the doctor? A stomach embolism. Embolism, there it is. It's two pages, two, four. Which we did establish is technically correct. Right, but, um, I think, I think he says, uh, well, sure. I guess it's possible you don't know the name of the man you, you, uh, diagnosed with a stomach, a deadly stomach embolism a few days ago.
00:30:56
Speaker
But let's all quit pretending you don't know what I'm talking about now. And I would like to roll to make that stick. I feel like we just kidnapped him. I feel like coercion's okay. Yes, yeah. Coercion typically works on kidnapped victims, Jeff. Right. I didn't expressly threaten bodily harm yet, but I feel like... The circumstance, really. The context is a threat. Right. So what's my difficulty?
00:31:27
Speaker
Do two purple, but yeah, let's do two purple. Okay. How about this? Two threats and a triumph. Nice. So yeah, you have coerced him, coerced the crap out of him. Two threats.
00:31:49
Speaker
Um, Tasha starts losing altitude. No. Um, well, sure. I mean, yeah, I just, I just strained the system or something. Ultimately the plan is for her to lose altitude eventually. I would absolutely buy that. Although we're below where we need to be. So actually we need to do that. Oh, do we live up here now? Um,
00:32:11
Speaker
I mean I have a triumph thought. Yeah, go for it. If it fits where you have this heading, I would love if the triumph is that he's so scared and flabbergasted of what we know that he starts outing the people who told him to do it.
00:32:26
Speaker
or at least unnamed. Yeah, yeah, I'll let you, basically the triumph is he gives away more than necessary. Yeah, let's do two points of system strain to Tasha for the crazy maneuvers and you'll need to repair that glitter on Aeris.
00:32:44
Speaker
Because correct me if I'm wrong with the vehicle rules, like, resting doesn't fix that. Like, it has to be repaired, right? No, I think that's right. OK. The car rested overnight, and so no need for an oil change now. Really need to figure out what the rules are for mechanically tricking out Tasha, other than through really high level ranked talents. Yes. Get some NOS.
00:33:14
Speaker
Okay, so, sorry, remind me, Jeff, what phrasing did you say into that coercion check? I believe it was something along the lines of, I'm not surprised you don't know the name. I suppose it's possible you wouldn't know the name of the man you diagnosed with a deadly embolism, but now that you know that I know, we know who you are, why don't you stop pretending? Okay.
00:33:40
Speaker
Just based off the perception check you made earlier, you see a glint of resignation in his eyes. He goes, okay, look.

The Doctor's Confession and Motive

00:33:52
Speaker
I did what I did with the best of intentions. And not
00:34:07
Speaker
Sorry I did it, but I was just trying to look out for my wife and her daughter. Trying to help them. Who are... Who has the picture now? It's the actress. I think Aeris probably.
00:34:34
Speaker
Did he hear that and put that possibility together? Probably. OK. If not, I cobble asked for the picture from. Sure. Yeah. I mean, there is there is a little fish. There is will fish. There is will fish the picture out of her coat and give it to him. Yeah. And I think it will go. Oh, good call. And what's the figure out? Yes, these two. That's them.
00:35:02
Speaker
We're gonna need some more context exactly. What, what do they have to do with this? Billy Taylor's not his real name. It's Tanner, right? William Tanner. Right, okay. Had a wife and a kid back in Vaffenrond. One day up and decided to just leave. And I met Athol.
00:35:29
Speaker
or Aethil, sorry, Aethil shortly after, or not shortly, but just sometime after her husband abandoned her and their child. We became romantically involved and I'm not financially well off and they were literally left with nothing. And I knew that once I discovered what Billy had been up to,
00:36:01
Speaker
I figured that if something were to happen to him, his estate would go to his next of kin once they discovered who he really was. And that his daughter wouldn't have to live on the street, which is on the horizon. So. I feel like that's what's happening.
00:36:30
Speaker
surely other options besides killing him. Yeah. Did you think about this for more than like 12 seconds? Yeah. I, I, I made contact with William, tried to reason with him, tried to do everything I could figured worth doing, but we've already lost the house, lost the land. So let's see now it's about to get worse because
00:37:00
Speaker
You just got caught for murdering someone. I'd, obviously that wasn't part of the plan, getting caught, but either way, she'll get his money, especially now that word's out. So. What word is out? Well, I'd assume even if I'm caught and you take me to the police, I will tell them the truth.
00:37:29
Speaker
picture in your possession is evidence enough to at least warrant looking into my words. So. Yeah. She'll be OK. I was just really baffled by this man's logic. Um.
00:38:02
Speaker
Okay. Um, this is wild. This is so now where I thought this was headed. You think she'll be okay now. You don't think she would have that right about you. Or perhaps her child's father not dead so he might one day come around. Oh, I mean,
00:38:27
Speaker
He made it clear that he much preferred his new life as opposed to the burdens that he left behind his words, not mine. So I don't think that was in the cards for her. And clearly I, through my own efforts, wasn't capable of providing. So drought will do a lot to a farmer. So
00:38:59
Speaker
Seems like a small sacrifice to make in the bigger picture. You left them as surely as he did.
00:39:15
Speaker
Right. And there's, I, I certainly hope they're taken care of because they've, they've been now abandoned by two morons, but, um, there's no guarantee this is going to, now it's on to me all of a sudden. Now I've got to make sure these two are taken care of. Thanks a lot, doctor. Just like I said, once
00:39:41
Speaker
As long as you ensure that the familial connection is made and that Billy Taylor is actually William Tanner, then the legal institutions of Braylon will take care of the rest. Right, they've done a really good job with all things so far. Right, and also you- Why- Hang on. This is so why- Why didn't you-
00:40:14
Speaker
I just flabbergasted to ask this question. Everything's... Did you try that? Alerting the authorities and not just, you know, killing the guy? Well, he could have denied it. He could have falsified documents. He could have been proactive. Now he can't. The truth that exists without him knowing that this was going to be what happened exists.
00:40:46
Speaker
I've never so much wanted for someone to turn out to be right, but also be wrong. Uh, cause I don't want this to have worked the way you wanted it to work, but I do want for these poor people to be okay. Why do you care? How do I care about a woman and a child who've been regularly abandoned and disappointed by people? I don't know, empathy. No, I'm saying why do you care about this working out the way I want it to or not?
00:41:17
Speaker
Because you killed the guy! Literally the only reason. I don't think that you having killed the guy should set the machinations that uh... You get what you want out of it. Snare. We are heading towards the precinct, right? Like we didn't stop the boat. Okay, good. Because this... Hot has a finite level of patience for this conversation.
00:41:47
Speaker
What did Rainard in my life do? Well, Rainard was about to say something like, uh... I mean, he's already admitted to doing it, so I don't know that there's any reason to, um, understand why. Hob, I think you're just going to hurt yourself trying to wrap your head around it. That does sound like a...
00:42:16
Speaker
plan may not have worked out exactly as he wanted it but it's going to work out in the end for the lady and her daughter let's just go get him unloaded believe that when I see it doesn't usually in the end we cannot change the past but we can ensure the future for them so can do what we can to take what he said and what we know
00:42:46
Speaker
Yes, provided the authorities follow through. I mean, that picture in your possession is basically the linchpin to all of this, so Casa Faire made sure that all other evidence was scrubbed before anyone could get there. Wait, I'm sorry. Now this matters.
00:43:09
Speaker
Cassifair made sure evidence of what? William Tanner's ex former wife and child were scrubbed or? Yeah, the scandal. Yes, I'm assuming that's whatever was missing from the drawers and the apartment and things that were why he went to get the picture. Word of this gets out and everybody associated with Billy Taylor. Their careers are going to be in jeopardy.
00:43:37
Speaker
We're working with someone that would do something like this. Scandalous. Are you very familiar with show business? This? Yeah. Are you? Scandal? Trying to protect investments?
00:43:52
Speaker
Right, then, scandal usually means people show up to theaters and read all about it in the newspapers. The scandal sells newspapers and tickets and... I would argue, by and large, in sharn, the people most wrapped up in scandal are absolutely the most successful. You think people are gonna financially support somebody that would abandon their wife and child? Well, they can't really, he's dead. They can't really, he's dead.
00:44:18
Speaker
Right. And someone will get, you know, it'll get around that, you know, it's not the fault of the usher that this playwright was a bad guy and the usher needs to make a living. And the play is good anyway, so we might as well still go see it. OK. It's a real blizzard of a controversy. Sounds like you all know a lot more about this than I do. That does seem that way. Yes, it feels like it. Yeah. And I don't even go to plays. OK. I'm sorry.
00:44:48
Speaker
That really tickled me. I don't even go to plays. I don't know why. I'm just glad Trevor listens. Okay, look, I don't want to give you what you want, but much like the usher at William Tanner's play,
00:45:17
Speaker
Your actions do not deserve to damn this woman and her child, so yes, we will tip off the authorities to this scandal to what Casa Faire might have tampered with a crime scene. And boy, that, Hob doesn't like it. He's gotta do it. Why are we talking to this person anymore? Because we're still on the way to the precinct, evidently.
00:45:45
Speaker
Because it's a podcast. Shit moves just as fast when people are quiet.

Verla Takes Over the Situation

00:45:51
Speaker
Yo. I think Hobb shuts up. All right. OK, well, if another conversation happens, then you all get to the precinct with that incident. Are you all binding this guy up with rope, I'm assuming, or? I'm assuming we're binding this guy up with Hobb's burly arms.
00:46:14
Speaker
I wasn't sure if yeah. Yeah, and I think Hobbs just sitting next to him. Okay. As long as we're in the air, there's nowhere to go. Okay, well, then you all are able to enter the front area as as you have before of this precinct and person at reception looks up and usually like, Oh, Hello, how can I help you?
00:46:42
Speaker
Um, we need to see, I'm trying, I'm trying to remember Verla's last name. I know we've learned it and I know I should know it. Mordain. He detected Mordain. Oh, um, okay. Let me, uh, let me go fetch her real quick. Try not to impound our ship while you're at it. What? Eris glares at her.
00:47:12
Speaker
Okay, and Eris goes, or not Eris. We're having a lot of conversation about the transitive property of responsibility today. Just because someone in the boat is inbound of the boat doesn't mean this person deserves your trash. Okay, so Verla comes out and looks at you all like, hi, what's, what can you do for me?
00:47:44
Speaker
That's what we go with. Yep. That was very theatrical. Good job. Hi, I'm detected more and she extends her hand to shake this man. No, no, no, no. This is the this is the murderer.
00:47:58
Speaker
Oh, oh, okay. Well, I guess I'll take it over and she grabs. And I think, how goes, you're not gonna believe it. It was the doctor. See if she even remembers what she told us. Finders and the, oh, the one that showed up at the crime scene. Why would you show back up at the crime scene? Nobody even believed you. It's not. Oh, we didn't find about the crime scene.
00:48:28
Speaker
Right. Well, no, just that he came back to the crime scene to diagnose the stomach embolism is what she's. Verla, as you continue to interrogate, tell me you learned that many of his decisions were a bit inscrutable. Um, this is just one of them. It's a case for most criminals I tend to find. But someone will write a hit play about it, I am sure. Oh, no. Okay, well, I'll take it over from here. Is there anything else?
00:48:57
Speaker
I think Hobb now has the picture, so we're handing that over. Yeah, I think Hobb pulls out the picture and he says, my relaying of this story is in no means a defense of his actions or intentions. Billy Taylor is really William Tanner. This is his wife, his former lover and his daughter. He abandoned. No wife, legal. Okay, this is his
00:49:26
Speaker
I guess Hob might even say wife. If he left, there's no reason they went through some sort of channel. I don't even know if Sean has a divorce. Where are we? Are we abdicated? Probably. Sure. Yeah. I mean, we're playing in fantasy New York. So yeah, divorce. Yeah. Okay. His ex-wife and daughter, and apparently he's not been adequately supporting them as he should have been, which led this man to do this.
00:49:53
Speaker
If you could look into it further, they don't deserve to suffer because she keeps falling in love with morons. And we're like, takes the picture and kind of looks... Okay. Oh, and then he goes, oh, and if this helps, we need to cause a fair amount of temperate with some evidence. Or had someone else temperate with it. Yeah, yeah, that would be fun for you to look into, right? Yeah, what? What?
00:50:24
Speaker
He just tells her exactly what he was just told like look he said this okay. I'm gonna look into it Okay, this is gonna be my whole weekend. Let's go You're one of the good ones for a little bit actually had a date this weekend, but whatever And she put we're work friends. You don't need to tell us about Exclusively personal hob
00:50:56
Speaker
And she takes him back to the back So what now gang head home? Yeah, I think Hob's gonna stare at the wall and consider the carceral system for a while Just how bad it is and then yeah, I guess unless they have someplace they want to go Yeah, I mean if we're not Wanted here anymore, I guess we would leave you know
00:51:22
Speaker
How do you want to spend more time in the police station than we have to? Well, I was trying to think. Unfortunately, it's just not in Hobbs nature to go like. Well, now I have to look up names. But go to Luca and explain what had happened or or or Marilyn and Clem, for that matter. You know, I was going to say that, but it doesn't work. It's not Hobbs nature to do that, especially not. Marilyn and Clem, more so Luca because of the business side of it.
00:51:51
Speaker
So I was gonna say that, but now I'm not. I talked to you. As Verla is moving away, Aeris will go, is this one of those things where there's some sort of reward for the capture of dangerous criminals? I will run that up the flagpole and be in contact within the week and let you know about any compensation. Right, yeah. That is a fancy way to say no, Verla.
00:52:24
Speaker
Okay. Oh, is it? Yes. Yes. Oh, not necessary. I'll, I'll let you know. And like, be cool. This was all under the under the table. Remember? So yeah.
00:52:46
Speaker
Um, okay. Well, if there's not anything specific that you all, um, want to do at this point, then, uh, you all would, I mean, go home. I mean, it's, I mean, I don't know that we have, yeah, I don't know that we have the.
00:53:07
Speaker
relationship to need to show up at anyone's house to inform them. I mean, Aris, you're going to see Luca next week, so. Well, then I've got an audition at some point. But that does not need to be neither here nor there.
00:53:33
Speaker
So yeah, I mean, what do you all individually do if you're not collectively doing anything now with the rest of your day? Aris, we'll check in with Olive on the progress of our real estate shopping and mention that it has just occurred to her that there's a

Post-Chase Reflections and Future Plans

00:53:59
Speaker
nearby chunk of the city where real estate is probably inexpensive and that probably also doesn't have a on site mage right shop of any kind. Yeah. You're talking about high wall. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What's everyone else doing?
00:54:23
Speaker
and also offer her the other ticket. Luca is putting aside for him since, you know, Rainard already saw the show and Hob won't want to. Milo will head home and tell his mother the tale of their escapades and catching a murderer. Okay. Just in time for her stories.
00:54:50
Speaker
Milo is her true crime podcast. Which makes him a grilled cheese sandwich with the crust cut off. The more I think about it, the more I think that after the immediacy of everything you need to get done wore off, Hob probably
00:55:12
Speaker
has to contend with being reminded of being abandoned by your parents. So I think he might just go like, I mean, Hob comforts himself with music and food and there's no better place for that than the Chuck E. Cheese style band at The Consistent Bird. So, I think he goes there and kind of sits, finds a, can we say there's like one of those,
00:55:39
Speaker
One of those bars that faces the front windows of the place and just kind of looks out on the hustle and bustle of that part of Sharn. Such as there is. Awesome slow jazz plays and the rain falls on the window. It's exactly right. It's definitely raining. And Hob's taking one of Aris' cigarettes and he's like, wait, no, no, I don't know. I think that's what he does. I think that Hob has an introspective moment about
00:56:05
Speaker
abandonment and restitution while he is eating and listening to the rocket fire explosion banned at the consistent bird. Okay. After you've sat there for a bit introspective like the member of the waitstaff that was assisting you comes over to inform you that your meal is taken care of for the night.
00:56:32
Speaker
And as Hob glances over at the bar, you just see Rafen kind of give Hab a nod. I think that takes a second. Not a come over, but just kind of an acknowledging. No, I'm with you. No, no, I didn't think. Because I have a feeling that in the interim, Hob has been at the consistent bird more than once. I like to think that this is where he and Sigur meet whenever Sigur comes up. Yeah. Because he wants to keep him out of the four sails.
00:57:02
Speaker
That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name. That's not his name.
00:57:17
Speaker
Narn, that's right, my bad. Yeah, I think this is where he and Narn meet, keeping the for-sales separation. Anyway, so I think Hob reaches into his pocket and pulls out a gold for the service, remembers it's a robot, puts it back in and pulls out a silver for the food, puts it on the table.
00:57:39
Speaker
I think if he's not eating he's gonna head home and okay if he's got some steam to blow the good thing about hob is if you still got some nervous energy or some steam to blow off he can always just take a shift bouncing it it's obvious like yeah no exercise that demon for a little while uh Raynard what are you up to
00:57:56
Speaker
Well, since we established it's raining, Reynard's going to wait till the rain passes. Because Reynard was going to do something a little different today. Drinking is not an option. The consistent birds on an upper level. Reynard's rain doesn't level so the rain doesn't make it down there. Yeah. OK.
00:58:20
Speaker
Knowing that there was no immediate monetary compensation for today, Raynard's going to take his variety of musical instruments and play a corner. OK. And some busking.
00:58:36
Speaker
OK, it's actually going to be a bard. How about that? He straps his bass drum to his back with the cymbals, the hi hat on top, connects all the chords. I'm trying to think of what check would be. Charm is the I really want them to all be songs that are very reminiscent to like Phoebe from Friends, though. Oh, my gosh. Well, never mind then.
00:59:00
Speaker
No, go ahead and make me a simple charm check just to see how people respond to you. So that's no difficulty? Yes, no difficulty. Wonderful. Two success, one in famous. Yeah.
00:59:21
Speaker
At the end of it, when you count up all your findings, you made two gold, one silver, just from people walking by and chucking various coins into your case. Genuinely more than we made for some of our early crime jobs. It's a particularly busy day. And then as soon as you say anyway, here's Wonderwall, then a member of the City Watch comes along and tells you to get lost.
00:59:53
Speaker
Okay, Philip, go ahead and make a roll on behalf of Olive to see how her endeavors have gone in trying to procure a place that's under the radar.
01:00:09
Speaker
Uh, yeah, streetwise will work. Um, and we're going to do a, uh, one red, one purple difficulty as she's poking around. Okay. But her streetwise. With my, uh, hot tip, does she get a boost? Sure. What's her streetwise? Mine's two. What's hers? Just two green. No, mine's two yellow, one green. Okay. Yours is actually better. So we'll just use yours. Cool.
01:00:38
Speaker
Oh my. Zero success, two advantage. So she hasn't found anything in the interim, but your hot tip when you mention, so you arrive at. Yeah, where is she staying? Yeah, she's because she's gone off the grid in unless she's teaching class.
01:01:00
Speaker
Um, cause there's some protection when there's students around. Um, well, let's just say you can catch her as she's leaving, you know, her class schedule well enough by this point. Um, so yeah, as, as she's walking out of her warehouse, um, is Eris like just standing.
01:01:18
Speaker
inconspicuously by her heiress is is leaning coolly against tasha okay like heiress is better with her leather jacket on yeah she yeah with her with her with her her um sleeves rolled up like her her jacket sleeves rolled up and her hands in the in the bomber pockets of her of her um military jacket and her booted foot like up on the
01:01:42
Speaker
on the side of Tasha's hole, leaning up, still trying to smoke that cigarette looking, looking awesome for all the looking hip for all the kids as they come out. Yeah. Whoa, sweet boat. It's a ship. Olive approaches you with her satchel and an arm full of scrolls and.
01:02:14
Speaker
It was a really weird day. Um, but I had, I went and saw an apartment and it would be a very bad apartment for what we're trying to do. But, um, I went to a place that I'd never been
01:02:30
Speaker
I'd kind of never been there on purpose but I went there because we needed to and it occurred to me it would probably be really inexpensive to get a place down there and it's also a place that probably doesn't have a majorite and so it might actually be possible to you know make some money.
01:03:00
Speaker
in in Highwall. Oh, oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's interesting. That's yeah, that could be a good place, especially to keep prying eyes away. And it doesn't, I think, well, do I know this? Is there a is Highwall someone's turf?
01:03:26
Speaker
Uh, no, it's, it's a very insular community. And it's not really, um, it would be kind of off the radar to my line of work also. Fair enough. It's not really anyone's turf. Okay. Um, is this all? Yeah. I didn't, I didn't actually do any shopping. I just, I was there and it just all occurred to me. Is Olive aware that Eris is Kyron?
01:03:57
Speaker
Yeah, I think I think probably it would be hard. I would imagine that that all of being Kenneth would be pretty aware of Kyron things. And so I think it would be hard for all of to have missed the jacket. There's nothing else. OK. I'll I'll try to do some poking around, but I may need to enlist your help. Yeah, I'll go with you. OK. Also,
01:04:27
Speaker
It was weird. We weren't doing crime today. We were trying to solve one. And in the course of that, I have you discovered that you don't want to do crime anymore? Oh, no. Oh, OK. I mean, look, sometimes I want I just employment opportunities are not strong in other fields.
01:04:53
Speaker
Look, I've been making some arguments about whether or not we should be working for who we're working with, but that's a different conversation. I ended up with a couple of tickets to Luca Ciara's new play. Oh. From Luca Ciara. What? It was a very weird day.
01:05:15
Speaker
I'm going to need details, at least about that part. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we could go down to Highwall. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. On the drive. And yeah, you all hop into Tasha and take off as Aeris.
01:05:33
Speaker
When you said I'm going to need and like, I was like, what are you going to make him roll for? I'm going to roll me. Roll a charm check. You know, I'm sorry. I don't know what game you've been paying attention to. OK, so that's where we're going to leave this episode off and this arc.

Session Conclusion and Rewards Discussion

01:05:56
Speaker
Do we ever hear?
01:05:59
Speaker
about the subject of reward, does not crime pay? Yeah, so you were offered at the outset a favor from a Sharn City detective, but also she did manage to get you all, let's say, 12 gold pieces total, not each. So if you divide that equally. Three gold each? Three, yeah.
01:06:29
Speaker
Dude, do we have a lead on that? Oh, no, I don't know. I want to keep following that, even though none of us want to live there now because you had a place, I will. Or considering a high wall. I mean, someone else can have that apartment. It's just not a good. It would be impossible to turn it into a garage. Hob is more than happy with his room, so. Rainard. Sure, why not? I love where people die.
01:06:57
Speaker
Um, can you afford, I think it was the annual rent of 1300 gold a year or 158 gold a month. Well, I made what six today. Yep. Yeah. If you stay on that grind every night, you'll be able to afford exactly that. And some like 30 gold is actually plenty for incidentals and food and stuff like a month. Um, okay. Well, uh, go ahead and everybody, uh, we'll get, I'm, we
01:07:26
Speaker
We only played one episode this session, everybody. So five experience. Now got 45 from this round of from this. I need to actually spend. Yeah, I'm ready to. Boy, when I come back after the review, you guys are going to see a different fella. I'll tell you what. What are you what are you up to? Actually, I only have 55. I only have 10 more than you, but. Um.
01:07:54
Speaker
But I think that's enough to get me a tier five and another set of wounds, which is good for me. Nice. OK, so obligation. I'm trying to remember where we are at. I really need to start writing down where my obligation is.
01:08:07
Speaker
Oh, hey, Eric, just so you know, next time Hob and Verla meet up in game, he's going to ask if she followed up on getting these people their money. Yeah. So you might want to think about that one. OK, so it is I think everyone is at 20 except for Eris is at. 10 is it 10? So, yeah, we'll just do first 10 Eris and then
01:08:34
Speaker
every interval after that, Hob, Milo, and then Reynard. Okay, nobody. Because that would be the 100. So no obligation for next session. I think that's the first time in a very, very, very long time that we have no obligation. You just get to write whatever you want, Eric. Give us a mission that's fun for you. The main narrative might... We have a main narrative?
01:09:17
Speaker
Okay. Um, thank you all so much for, uh, listening. If you want to be part of the conversation surrounding this episode, we do have a discord, uh, the geek Pantheon that you can find on all of our socials at the geek Pantheon, Instagram, Twitter. Uh, there's a Facebook group, also the geek Pantheon. We also have a Patreon, patreon.com slash the geek Pantheon.
01:09:31
Speaker
Well, there's a difference between intention and execution.
01:09:34
Speaker
where you can go financially support the show if you enjoy it and want to do such a thing. And we appreciate everybody who does do that. We also have a YouTube channel, youtube.com slash the geek pantheon where we have another actual play Kyber shards over there that Philip is the GM for and I'm also a player. So go check that show out as well. And yeah, thank you all so much for listening. I have been your game master, Eric. I'm Philip. I'm Trevor.
01:10:05
Speaker
I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. We'll see you next time.
