Speaker: This one thing will help you discover your own unique pottery voice What is up shaping nation? This is Nick Torres here and for those that don't know me It is my mission to help you discover your own unique voice with your partner and do that by giving tips and tricks through this podcast so very recently I've interviewed a couple people where they have said pretty much the same thing and I
Speaker: It's pretty much saying that if you wanna find your voice, if you wanna be able to make party that looks good, what you need to do is picture what you are making and picture it in a home, in a room or anywhere else that you think it might lie. Picture it outside of your own studio or your own hands and picture it in somebody else's hands.
Speaker: And what this is going to do is going to help you make better pottery. Why is that? Well, here is why it's going to help you build better pottery, because have you ever heard the old saying, you want to start with the end in mind? And when you start with the end in mind, things become easier. You know, you have a destination. You have things that you can you can check off. You can manage what you are making a lot better because you are starting with the end in mind.
Speaker: And the same principles hold true to that. With my earlier statement, if you try to picture the pottery that you are making in somebody's hand, in a room, in a house, outside of a house, in a plant,
Speaker: What is that going to do to your pottery? Your pottery is going to change significantly because you are picturing it in somebody else's hands. You aren't just picturing it and making it for yourself now, which is completely fine by the way, but you're also combining the element of what you like, but you're also combining it with seeing it in somebody else's house.
Speaker: And that is so, so important because now you have a destination. You have a destination for where your pottery can potentially go rather than just simply making the pot, going out and hoping it maybe sells or maybe somebody likes it. Try to picture it in somebody's house first or in somebody's hand first, somebody's room first. What are they going to like about this?
Speaker: in their own home. Try to ask yourself those questions. When you are making a pot and maybe you're finished it, ask yourself, would this look good in somebody's home? Would this look good in somebody's hand? And try to get a yes with those answers. Because if you get a yes, then your pot is going to look that much better. And then if it's a no,
Speaker: Figure out what you can do to see if it will look good in somebody's home. See if it will look good in somebody's hand. Feel good in somebody's hand.
Speaker: Because if you can figure those things out, your powder is going to look that much better. It's going to feel that much better. And overall, people are just going to enjoy it that much more. Not only that, you're also going to enjoy it yourself as well, too, because you can picture it maybe in your home. Maybe you're closing eyes right now and you can picture it in your home, like in a certain corner, right next to that vase, right next to that picture. And you can see in your home, yes, that's what I want. That looks so good in my mind. And I think this will look so great in somebody else's home as well.
Speaker: If you go at
Speaker: other than yourself, you're thinking about how to help other people as well, how to make other people happy, how to make them more excited, more joyful in your life just by simply adding this piece of pottery into somebody's home.
