RB Leipzig Squad Updates

00:00:00
Speaker
Good evening, this is Richard and Mario from Bolson Red and in today's episode you will hear Richard reviewing the squad situation at RB Leipzig and you will find out that Nusa is not a direct replacement for Olmo. I don't see that this is the one-on-one ah replacement and he is the successor of Danny Olmo. Maybe he will be the successor of of somebody else. You'll find out. Richard will also make a very bold prediction. And it makes me quite confident um that we are going to finish this season, May 2025.
00:00:43
Speaker
I promise it's worth listening to it.

Introducing Rottweiss Essen

00:00:46
Speaker
And also, we'll introduce our first opponent in the year, Dave B. Bukal, Rodweis Essen, by honoring their rich history, their tradition. We'll talk a little bit about the city of Essen and what this match versus Harvey Leipzig means to the fans. it's It's not only about life and death, it's much more. Ooh, intriguing. At some point, I will also get told off by Richard. Find out why.
00:01:12
Speaker
We are not yet ready with the transfers. Oops, I apologize. And at one point, I'm definitely showing my age. You know, if you have to wait for ah several key players and Daniel, it's too much. Can't handle that. I'm too old for this. So welcome to Bulls in Red.
00:01:48
Speaker
And welcome to Bull's Red. It's Richard and Mario from the heart of Leipzig and we're so excited to enter our second season.

Season Excitement and Predictions

00:01:59
Speaker
Richard, how the devil are you tonight? Thank you, Mario. ah Can't wait for the new season to start finally. Starting now.
00:02:10
Speaker
And yeah, I'm fine. It was a long day. Long day in office. Now I'm home. I'll see you. And they're prepared for next episode. Looking forward to it. Let's go. Wonderful. Yeah. Can't wait either. So let's start with our first topic and this is going to be on you. So what are you going to talk about?
00:02:29
Speaker
I would like to talk about the squat that situation, in the transfer window still open and there was lots of activities and in and out transfers for the RBL team and I would like to give some short overview who's in and who's out.
00:02:46
Speaker
and I would like to to take a little deeper look into the position groupings and how I expect to work out for the next season and then I think I will drop one bold prediction.
00:03:01
Speaker
my god you ready for that no i'm not ready and ready please i like anyone ah Okay, go for it. Of course. Some people left us. um Not much, but I would like to mention them all. So Janis Blaswijk, former number one keeper during this long-term injury of Peter Gula. She is back off to our, so to speak, affiliate club, sister club whatsoever to Silesport alone. Not officially, of course.
00:03:31
Speaker
right. Excuse me. And Tim Schreiber, you know, this famous keeper who played for Zabrucken in the last people car season so well, is a permanent transfer to Dunamo Dresden and they forgot where he came from. They bought somebody from Arby Leipzig. Yeah, they bought Arby Leipzig, but they didn't mention.
00:03:52
Speaker
Oh yeah, I remember. I saw that. When he was introduced, it was like the keeper of South African. Oh, okay. This is okay. This is cool. so I think he was born and raised in Tucson. I think it's okay. Yeah. Never mentioned the war. That's it. We'll never talk about football. I did see that press release as well. And, um, I had to laugh as well. I agree. Yeah. Never mentioned it. And especially if you bear in mind, what kind of history do normal has, but we will talk about this some other time.
00:04:20
Speaker
Oh yeah, looking forward to that too. The next, the next lad who is now off permanently is Arne Gelineau. Okay. He wasn't around the last season, but he was on loan. Maybe some people have forgot about that. And now he's on a permanent deal to Roma. Another loan is Timo Werner.
00:04:39
Speaker
Yeah, still and still still not sold. Also, Tottenham didn't go for the option to buy him. Yeah, of course, yeah. you I think a buying option is included in this ah loan agreement. ah No, I think no buying option is in the loan of Yannick Eduardo, this young lad, who just need to gain some playing time. And obviously, there was no chance that he could gain some or at least enough time on the pitch in competitive matches and Leipzig. oh Out on loan to the ah Dutch league, the Grafschauppe. Hope I pronounced that correctly. Probably, of course. Marta Lingle, come on. Thank you. Next one, who left the club is Huguenuowa. It was like a never-ending story. It came as as a talent and everything was everyone was so excited about joining the club. and Well, it never clicked somehow.
00:05:36
Speaker
Yeah. So now he's, uh, off to, uh, Deportivo Alavesh on a permanent year. So good luck. Hugo. Yeah, good luck to him. The next one is pretty similar. It's Eli Moriba. also Never ending story. Never really came into that squad. Why the devil? and I cannot. So it was interesting. He wasn't he wasn't able to to to make it to the squad when Julian Nagelsmann was there. And and and then Marco Hose came and I was like, okay, maybe he is going to give him and another chance, but no chance at all.
00:06:11
Speaker
And I wonder what happened there. Yeah, it might be some disciplinary issues or something like that. and But at least at least I never heard some some bad vibes or bad news from from froming the side. Not from the player, not from the club. So I think hopefully it was was a true um fair agreement with all sides. So anyway, he's on loan to Celta Vega now.
00:06:38
Speaker
Let's wish him all the best for his career and I think he feels at home in the ah La Liga. Yeah, hopefully he will somehow find back to his talent and get his career started. Yeah, like this Norwegian guy.
00:06:54
Speaker
I wonder what his name was. King of the North. um Another King of the North. Let's not talk about him, yeah but he's too well. So two more names

Danny Olmo's Impact

00:07:05
Speaker
to drop here. It's a Christopher Lenz. Oh, yeah. Around back up, left the club early July. And as far as I noticed, he didn't join another another club for now.
00:07:18
Speaker
Yeah, it's strange. When Timo Vanna left, I sometimes thought Timo Vanna is still there because he kind of looks like him. A little bit, yeah. But I'm ah i'm curious what what he but hiss his his plan is for his next step. So obviously not good enough for a permanent Bundesliga signing, but I think he should be good enough and young enough. It's only 29 years old ah for a permanent deal in the second Bundesliga, maybe in a minor European league too. Yeah. Let's watch that space. mind You don't know what's going to develop.
00:07:54
Speaker
yeah And the last one left us last week. Danny Omo. Thank you. Gracias. Gracias. And all the best. but Can I ask you a question? yeah and And try to be honest, because you know, we're amongst ourselves. Everything stays within this little computer. and What do you think about this? well what was What was your first reaction and feeling when you heard Danny Omo has been sold? Sold for the almost 60 million that, you know, a long time ago you talked about that.
00:08:25
Speaker
And we thought this was the money which is budgeted for for this year, for this season. And it would have been a gaping hole if it hadn't been sold. But also bearing in mind that you're on a regular basis, missed so many, so many matches. What was your feeling?
00:08:45
Speaker
I wasn't that sad as I expected it to be when this was announced officially official. And I was more concerned about the development of our team when email left us.
00:09:02
Speaker
especially with that performances he showed in the last weeks before he left. And ah Daniel is a fantastic player. Okay, this is no, we don't have to argue about that. And um in general, I think we are better club with him. Definitely.
00:09:21
Speaker
But on the other hand side, and um I looked up a funny stat and I would like to drop it too. um um So you named it. Danny had always dealing with several injuries. He's so injury prone. But he was out several times with muscular issues, and shoulder injury, knee injury. And last season, he only had 21 appearances in the Bundesliga. Yeah, I remember.
00:09:51
Speaker
and you know what you know we lost as a team seven times in the Bundesliga last season and with Danny around we lost five We lost five five five. Five competitive matches, five political matches we lost when Danny was was playing for us. So he played 21 matches, we lost five, so almost 25 percent, right? So that means that the other two losses came out of the other 13 matches, which means there's only about 15 percent. And you could now argue that, okay, are we really, were we really a better team with him on the squad?
00:10:30
Speaker
Numbers, figures, showing something else, but okay, I'm just joking here. there was Numbers are just coincidental. There are absolutely no casualty ah between those figures at all. but a fun Funny to mention, I thought. and and shes So yeah, he's now he's now gone. I think this price is fair, almost $60 million with some incentives. It could be up to some bonuses up to $62, as I have read.
00:10:56
Speaker
And I think it's okay. um This is what a club should have paid for him. I think it's a fair price. And I am not concerned that we won't be able to um find other lads who are going to fill this gap. But to be honest, ah I mean, and I'm sure you you share the sentiment. We're very grateful to have had him.
00:11:21
Speaker
And I do remember in the winter, it was a 2020 in the winter in January when he arrived. And I was at the airport at Leipzig where he arrived and on the VIP service. And he wasn't at a parking lot. And I thought, who's that skinny guy? I was that skinny guy from Tinamo, Osaka, probably Spanish. So nobody knew about him, but he was supposed to be a very big talent. Well, hey, we've seen lots of big talents. I mean, if you follow this through now,
00:11:48
Speaker
but how he still has performed even though he's missed a lot of games and that was doing my headache as well because it was always seemed to be before the biggest part of the season we were waiting for Danny Olmo to arrive and then we were waiting for Danny Olmo to get back into the shape like he's shown in the Super Cup match a year ago versus Bayern München.
00:12:10
Speaker
And to that that got annoying to a point, but when he was there, of course, we appreciated that and and we loved it. And then I think back to the Dortmund game last match we played at home versus Dortmund, you know, Denny Elmer was great. Also, when we played Real Madrid, we lost.
00:12:25
Speaker
But you know he really showed up then. But it was always this this this anticipation or this this fear that he would go to an international duty with Spain and not come back because he's injured. And that one year, that one season when he took part, was it the European Championships and and also the ah ah the World Cup for Spain? He's playing for Spain, but also for the Olympic team.
00:12:50
Speaker
We just thought, okay, of course, he's not going to come back. If he comes back, he gets an extended holiday. Of course, he was injured and missed a lot of the season. So, I really would love to see him at Basa to succeed. And I think that is his home club in his heart as well. I think he really appreciated how he was able to develop in Leipzig. We all appreciate that as well. And he's grateful. And we have a certain, I say, we, Leipzig and RB Leipzig, we have a certain place in his heart.
00:13:17
Speaker
But it's heart of heart and his home is past. And he's going to go on to crave more big yeah achieve more yeah big things, win trophies. He's won trophies with us, but it's going to win the important ones, you know like the Champions League, the Spanish Championship.
00:13:33
Speaker
and You know, the club championship of for oh world football. So yes he's going to he's going to achieve more things than that. But I think we all remember where he laid the base for that. And that foundation, that that is Leipzig. But I must admit, when I heard that he was finally sold, it was a pinch of sadness, but it was also relief.
00:13:58
Speaker
we don't have to worry about this and wait for him. you know If we have to wait for but several key players and Daniel, it's too much. Can't handle that. I'm too old for this. So I'm sure you join me in just wishing him all the best and easy he's going to be an awesome, even better player in Spain. But what it is so strange when you see those picks And then you see Hansi Flick in the background. I'm i'm still confused about that. Of course. Oh yeah. You nailed it. And I wish him all the best too. And yeah, it feels like and always I have this one sentence in mind. What could have been, what could have been if he wasn't that injury prone?
00:14:41
Speaker
Okay, we will never know so thank you dan Danny for all your dedication for all your effort and All the best with your new club and go for titles. Yeah, go for it. I mean just you're gonna be great even better So, so that I hope I came back though. Yeah, I came for a few few players came back. I'm still there. I know it's still there, but it's like some somewhat it feels there's also a pretty fair um
00:15:18
Speaker
you know, relationship, so, so to speak. So, okay, he knows that the club doesn't really plan with him. But it doesn't seem like Marco Rosa has opened, ah you know, practice squad two, or something like that, that we've seen earlier in the Bundesliga, you know, it's a training scope, it's by and what we saw in I think it was Hoffenheim back in those days so he's with the club and he's got some playing time in the training matches as well and he s scored and everything everyone was ah cheering and chanting with him and clapping
00:15:56
Speaker
And i think I think there's still a little chance that we're heading into the season with him on our Russell squad. So if no one's going to make a decent offer for him and is able to um pay his salary, maybe maybe Brighton or some other club, so then I think it's still possible He's heading into the season and why not? And I think with David Raung finally has found his crossing skills. He's crossing Mojo. Yeah. Crossing Mojo, he found it. I just made it. I'm not even sure if that's a word. And i I think it's cool. And I got some caustic silver vibes back in those days when they played for a fun for together. So why not? Why don't give it a try?
00:16:47
Speaker
I do a little um jump here into our attacking department, but you know, we have Loyz Openda, Benjamin Sheshko. And behind that, so there is Yousuf Paulsen. Okay, it's cool that he's still there, but to be honest, I think he didn't develop anymore. He's more like more like a mascot.

RB Leipzig's Player Analysis

00:17:09
Speaker
Okay, okay. that' I think you need it for the for the locker room and and for the fans and you know, maybe he got his one or two games in the season and when you can send him on the pitch from from the bench and use of doing use of things and ah doing some hip shaking and like in the Dortmund last last season. So and we all all thought oh use of now you finally found your yeah your skills back in the Bundesliga but it was it wasn't a spark to ignite something something it was just ah Yeah, a little light that was extinguished just a week later. somehow you' okay So I would appreciate that if we ah have silver on the roster, um at least for the until winter, I think. And um I'm curious how this would work out. And maybe it could be a cool addition.
00:17:56
Speaker
i I tend to agree because having four strikers again would be awesome, to be honest. Now Timo Wern is out of the frame. And like you mentioned, Raum is developing into a flanking god. Finally, you know he's he's doing those wonderful crosses and do remember.
00:18:13
Speaker
During the European Championship, when he was doing a wonderful cross and Foucault equalized, was that equalized versus Switzerland? and In his interview after the game, David Armstead told him, I'm going to attack, go into the box, because I'm going to do a crossing straight away. And that's what happened. So I think he's really built up a lot of momentum, a lot of confidence, a lot of strength.
00:18:35
Speaker
And he's gonna have another awesome season at Leipzig so this might work it might finally be the connection that we need. And then in that case we have a lot more options.
00:18:48
Speaker
So yeah, it might in the first row, I think it's Benjamin Cheshko. It's a pretty similar at attacking type to Andre Silva, so I don't expect him to get past him to make it permanently in the starting squad. But yeah, bear in mind, even that Cheshko's pretty young, maybe he is got a suspension or minor injury or something like that. And that would be cool if you could send in the similar player um who had proven that he is able to perform on a above average Bundesliga level and that you can just exchange the personnel and still playing the same type of football.
00:19:28
Speaker
yeah Okay. All right. So to what is your feeling about the team going into the season that we have at the moment? We're not yet ready with the ah transfers. I know you were missing somebody. Yeah. I remember. Sorry. Okay. I will i will just accelerate a little bit.
00:19:46
Speaker
we have a new goalkeeper around so I told you last week left we have a new goalkeeper he bought him I think one and a half years ago it's Martin van der Ford and he was just on loan to Klopurige I think no No, no, no. No, no, no, from Gank. There you go.
00:20:07
Speaker
do this but And then yeah he came in from Gank and then I think it's okay. It's a young guy, 22 years old, big talent. and But I do expect that he is not going to replace Peter Guler. At least yeah just yet. yeah I'm a pretty sure about that.
00:20:28
Speaker
And another ah edition is Asan Uyen Draugo from Schalke. Yeah, to be honest, I never ever seen something from him. I didn't watch any highlight reel. He wasn't on my on my radar in last season. I know I read some from from time to time when I read the football news of the second Bundesliga. Okay, with Rago here and he played well and maybe he will leave Schalke because he's too good playing another year in the second Bundesliga.
00:20:58
Speaker
But to be honest, 20 years old, second Bundesliga player, I think it's more an additional development project than more of this, but a real strengthen for the whole club right now. Okay.
00:21:16
Speaker
That's my my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong with that, but I just looked a little bit under stats and I thought, okay, if he's that good, if he's that outstanding, um there should be other numbers that should impress me. Maybe I'm wrong. We will see. Do you think they're going to loan him out or is he going to be included in the end team? Because it looks like he's not going to be loaned out.
00:21:38
Speaker
No, it looks like um he was too expensive to ah to to loan him. And if if this would have been an option from the beginning, um I think there would have been a club involved in this whole development. So that you buy him and have um immediately in another club in the same agreement to loan him. But obviously not to Schalke. So because if you're going to loan him, you don't want to loan him into the second year.
00:22:06
Speaker
Okay, two more additions, Shabi. ah tri It's an addition. And I'm glad that worked out. and And I remember how we talked about that um towards the end of the season and of the last season. And we ah was a little bit, ah you were a little more pessimistic than I was. I was a believer. Yeah, i live which is great. But you know, the last home match we had was a versus payment. And and I described this situation when we were in sector D.
00:22:38
Speaker
And then one end and we had the team in front of us and it was very somber and everybody was clapping was like, okay, we're not, it was a good season, but today we're not excited. So finally when the team left, so little guy appeared with weird hair in, in, in the non-sporting clothes, may I present it that way. And it took us a while to realize it was Shavi, esh ah Shavi, Shavi.
00:23:00
Speaker
And at that moment I thought, okay, is he saying goodbye, but he acts a little bit shy? What the hell is going on here? Why is he here anyway? and of And there were rumors flying around already anyway, and we thought, okay, if PSG doesn't keep him, he's supposed to be at a real good club, even though another yet Leipzig would do in the world of good, because he's he's got everything he needs over here.
00:23:21
Speaker
And, um, I was even more pessimistic towards the end of, uh, our school holidays over here when, you know, these guy sports people kept pushing the narrative that he's leaning towards Bayern mood chair and didn't know anything in the end. That turns out as I should have stayed calm.
00:23:39
Speaker
But I thought, okay, Abel, he knows Abel, the sporting director, he knows the contract. So he he can pull all the strings that he's coming over to buying. Why wouldn't he go to buy? And, you know, his next step, he could make his mark there as well. um Maybe he has to fight for it, but he would would be able to. So I'm really, really pleased that he's here one more year. Now let's face it. Let's let's enjoy that. And let's hope it's going to be even better than last year.
00:24:05
Speaker
It will. And you know, what I like most about this deal is that we out negotiated outperform, we kicked out Bayern Munich.

Key Player Strategies

00:24:13
Speaker
For now, for 12 months, but great, we did. yeah And it just shows we can do it. And we can can do it. And we can do it twice, because with us and with the logo, we did it as well. There were also rumors and even and as far as I know, even negotiations between his um management and Bayern Munich. And finally,
00:24:33
Speaker
He joined our club. Great decision, by the way. Yeah. And we're all going to be so happy. Of course. Thank you, Shelby. One more season. And ah to me, I would like to say that right now it is okay if he's leaving next season and go somewhere else because, yeah, you know, and I think RB Leipzig is is too far away from, for really competing about an European title.
00:24:58
Speaker
Yeah, maybe in 10 years time it's different. but so but But not now. And but hey, shavi if you listen to this, you can go anywhere. Thank you. The humble bees. Okay, that's off too. I thought he would like to win titles. So why he should join Dortmund.
00:25:17
Speaker
you get a point there. Okay. And I'm worried about that. This is going to haunt us in 12 months.
00:25:27
Speaker
and the internet Don't forget anything. I'm not sure if I'm going to publish it, maybe I cut it out. so and Finally, our last edition. what He just came yesterday, Wednesday. No, Wednesday is today. Tuesday, the 13th of August, 2024. Antonio Nungsa, a 19-year-old Norwegian who came from and now club who played and lost versus gank in the last match of the Belgian league. So that was where my a little um miss and misunderstanding came from a few minutes ago. How do you rate that? Because I have, I had no idea who he is, to be honest. Call me.
00:26:12
Speaker
expert I don't know either. um So it was it wasn't he was like Asan Uyterag and even even less on my radar. I never heard of him, never saw him play. And um you know it's like almost the same what I had said about Asan Uyterag.
00:26:31
Speaker
more light development project. I don't expect him to be in that shape, to be in that quality now that he is a real competitor for the starting spot in the offensive midfield. He will never be able and in the first half of the season to get by Christoph Baumgartner or even Elif Elmas and we don't have to talk about Javi.
00:26:54
Speaker
Okay, okay. So I saw in the, some guy from rb-fans.de, thank you, um had ah had a German version of course of the, so what what I'm doing right now, who was in and what how could that work out.
00:27:11
Speaker
And he placed Noosa as a backer of Loyz or Penda. And to be honest, I don't see this. Maybe I'm wrong here, but um as far as I have, um what I've researched recently, what I've found out is that he was he's more like a very offensive midfielder, but not an enforcer, an first-row striker, like Openda or Shasko.
00:27:39
Speaker
So I so don't expect him to be in that striking department. And that's why I would like to go into the season with Silva on the roster as well. But one thing that really strikes me here is you don't mention Denny Olmo in this context, because I read quite a few times that Nusa is sort of the replacement for Denny Olmo, maybe not the same type, but sort of that positional way of playing.
00:28:05
Speaker
Yeah, but, you know, it's like, I'm i'm curious how Marco Rosa got on to handle this, because usually, Sharvi is playing in the left offensive midfield and left attacking midfield. And then in those few matches, we could watch that where Sharvi and Ulmer was in the starting 11 at the same time.
00:28:26
Speaker
Ormo played on the right side. So, and Nusa always played on the left side and he's left footed. So I don't expect him to go on the right side. So I don't see that this is the one-on-one ah replacement and he's the successor of Danny Ormo. Maybe he will be the successor of Shavi next season. Maybe it's your learning, developing,
00:28:50
Speaker
maybe get some time in competitive matches during towards the end of the season. And then he's won, you know, one, um, one breach, uh, one, you know, uh, I don't know, uh, English word of for egg filer, you know, one, um, you know, and key player.
00:29:13
Speaker
key player, essential player for the rebuild of the midfield. Maybe. Yeah, because next year, well, we don't talk about next year, but next year could be a big transition. so Okay, interesting. One to watch, really. One to watch. yeah i'm I'm not sure myself. I like to go back to my previous question. Please, Richard, if I may. What's your feeling about the squad? What do you think? What can they achieve this season?
00:29:38
Speaker
So, you know, we, of course, the the there are two important, the two most important things that change. So Olimo is not around anymore. And Shabi is still there, but with one more year of experience now.
00:29:58
Speaker
And if we are going to find solutions without Almo and we found a lot of solutions. So this is maybe it's, you know, generally we would say, ah ki unlu You know, um that we have to... Blessing in disguise, sorry. Yeah, thank you. um Took me a while. That we ah had to find solutions when Olimo is not around. So that situation that we and now have to handle, have to deal, the coach also have to deal, is not um not out of the blue.
00:30:34
Speaker
Okay. yeah Starting from scratch, so to speak, is something we have worked on before. I do expect that these squads will um click sooner than they clicked in last season together. So the cohesion... I love this world by the way. It's going to follow us through.
00:30:57
Speaker
the cohesion between it the these the different parts of of the the squad um are going to work better together um much earlier in the season, much earlier than we saw last season. And that makes me quite confident um that we are going to finish this season, May 2025, in first place.
00:31:27
Speaker
and in which in our lads ranking like fair play or maybe, maybe the youngest boy whatsoever. Are you, are you telling me we're going to be champs at the end of the season? It's time. Yeah. Yeah. You know, we talked about liver cousin. I want to go to Berlin. Okay. it's it's no who yes to double Yeah. It's been the cops as well. Why not?
00:31:55
Speaker
we you know We talked a bit about Liverpool's last season, where where that came from. And they had their lads together, like like they were in the 2022. True. True. And they were an outstanding form the last eight matches. um And they won two key editions. And our key edition here,
00:32:16
Speaker
is is is shabby that he's still there. And there's everything we needed. And to almost we and we had we had a not the best start. So but we had the yeah the results we needed. But you know, we remember I remember quite well, and that we talked about hey, this this team is over performing.
00:32:36
Speaker
yeah yeah And then there was this um yeah this little set setback um during the fall and in the winter. And then we ended we came back. and i And that's why. So I remember this first round, if people can't match from last season as well. This very, very ugly game versus being respond and how difficult that was.
00:33:00
Speaker
and ah do the lead first round with cyborgs yeah because we yeah because we played the super cup and in middle or true true yeah you're right yeah on And Zeywald is one year further and he played an outstanding, I have to admit, outstanding European championship as well. And I do hope that he is able to to to prevail too. Yeah. He's going through this season yeah yeah for us. So come on, walk my words. We are going for, we're going all the way this season. RB Leipzig is going be to be champion with 83 points.
00:33:40
Speaker
83 points of course. Bold prediction. Bold prediction. So it's 83 points and we're champions.

Can RB Leipzig Win the League?

00:33:48
Speaker
Wow. See there's a fellow podcast which is really popular in Germany called Stumplatz and the guys over there, well they predicted that we wouldn't get Javi. So they they had reliable information that we wouldn't get him.
00:34:02
Speaker
But they also predict that we would attack the top teams and be in there. Now Golpenda, well Luis Chopenda, he actually claims that we're in a better position than the beginning of last season and definitely finish in the top three. And they're going to do everything to get this cup, the people car back to Leipzig. Which would be awesome them as well. Okay.
00:34:25
Speaker
And if you look, and maybe one last sentence to this, one and one, one, one, one, one, two thoughts on a hive. Okay, if you look at the top five, okay, you have by Munich, you have the new coach, ah no achievements in the transfer window whatsoever, they lost today, the Licht and Maswari as well. And I don't expect them to to be in the the real long-term content circle. So because, you know,
00:34:51
Speaker
It's a new new coach, new system, no key additions. And I don't think that they're satisfied with that transfer situation. Almost the same, it's Dortmund. Dortmund, I don't know what they're going to do. They've got some really interesting players like Maya.
00:35:06
Speaker
true and you india Maxi. They've got a new new coach as well. They have a little more money to spend. So obviously, Rheinmetall makes it possible.
00:35:19
Speaker
um in the situation where you need lots of their ammunition stuff. But, you know, it was maybe something like we saw at Liberty last season. and So it will take some time until this new lads, this key additions and with a new coach are going to play good enough to um stay in a constantly high performance level.
00:35:45
Speaker
And Leverkusen won't be able to to maintain this outstanding season once more. No no sir, they will lose four or five games. But it's still a very good season, but not that outstanding they played. And this will be will be our chance at Stuttgart. No sir, um they lost tell us too too many players, too many key players. And I think they are now will this season, they're gonna struggling with this, you know, and in Germany, we're talking about top level last song. So with this, now Champions League, so this rhythm, Wednesday, Saturday, playing and now two games more with this new UCL mode.
00:36:23
Speaker
So, yeah, it will be interesting to see how that works out for Stuttgart, but usually um yeah clubs who come in this situation for the first time, from a long time, um have strongly yeah difficulties to handle that well. and Okay, you heard it here first. Richard Bredrecht, we're going to win the league this time. It's time for it.
00:36:49
Speaker
So very interesting to follow. Hopefully you're right. I don't see it yet. I think we've definitely been the top three and it's going to be an exciting season. Can't wait. teeth ah believe you have to believe yeah I'm not going to say fight, fight. Yeah, I believe.

Exploring Rottweiss Essen

00:37:05
Speaker
I would like to introduce our next opponent. I would like to move on to talk about our opponent in the first round of the the people car, which starts this Saturday. And it's a club which is oozing with rich history and tradition, yeah all those things that we don't have. And it's a history which they haven't constructed. It's just happened.
00:37:28
Speaker
and It's also fair to say that the heydays and the glory is a time of the past. It's been a long time ago, so umm I'm sure they would love to return to the ah top flight. But let's look at the city of Essnesten from, this is pretty much the western of Germany, very much in the yeah area, which is called Ruapot. Ruapot is a highly dense area. The mining industry and steel industry was was a big factor for a long time. Of course, there's no more mining, but there's now steel industry struggling as well. Big um energy suppliers like Airbnb are situated there as well. They've got headquarters as well. So, economically-wise, this area is is is not bad.
00:38:11
Speaker
There is a high density of population with a lot of cities close by. It just feels, if you're in this report area, if you travel from one city to the next, that you haven't even left the city. If you go from Boulton to Essendon, it feels like you're still in the same city. But as a matter of fact, you have switched cities.
00:38:26
Speaker
and Of course, there is a whole array of these traditional and rich in history. Football clubs in Essen is one of them, but it is in West Germany, definitely in household name. At the moment, Essen, as a city, is sir slightly smaller than Leipzig. They have less inhabitants. and As I said before, it's situated in this Uropot area.
00:38:50
Speaker
with neighbors like Gesenkirchen, Bohum, Duisburg, Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Cologne. And in the yeah history of of of easy West German football, they always been been there.
00:39:03
Speaker
and The club was founded in 1907, a long, long time ago, and currently has about 12,000 members, so they're the complete opposite of arbileptic. They have members who are taking part in the shaping of the club. And all these members, of course, have a very strong sense of pride because the club So he's been there. So if your granddad would go to that club, you would go there as well, or your dad. So you kind of inherit to the allegiance to that club. And by the way, the club is called Goldweiss Essen, which is like a red-white Essen. And they have one thing in common with us, and that's Richard. They have won the day of Bebokal in 1953.
00:39:46
Speaker
t three That's when we never thought about R.B. Leipzig, did we? So they got this thing in common. They are also a one-time German champion. So they won the German championship in 1955. So that was before the Bundesliga was founded.
00:40:04
Speaker
And especially after the war after the war between 1940 and 1961, they had 13 seasons of top-flight football. The structure was a bit different. they had In West Germany, they had four divisions, regional divisions, and the top two teams of those divisions would move on to another round where they played for the championship. So the people who were are at top of those groups, there were two groups, would then move on to a final. And in that final,
00:40:30
Speaker
the winner would be champions of Germany. So that was sort of the ah the the way of the system they played before the Bundesliga was invented. now Nowadays, like I said before, the heydays are gone, and the big glory is a time of the past, and like England, they're waiting for another trophy. Hordweiss Essen is actually in the third tier of the German leagues, just for the third season now, so it looks like they're coming back.
00:40:58
Speaker
But it is ah is it is it's a long way because although they have um big companies around them and a big sponsor like Airbnb, their pockets now are not as deep as, of course, RB Leipzig. And if you're a fan, I can imagine if you're a fan of a club like this who has members who's trying to do, who's so deeply rooted in the area as well. Whose biggest rivals are Schalke-Nouffier, Gessenkirche, because Gessenkirche is only 10 kilometers away, like seven miles from Essen. And if you look the other way, another big competitor is MSV Duisburg. And I think they're still in the same league. They're still in the third league as well. And that's 15 kilometers away. And you represent as a fan the tradition of miners, hard workers, of honest people who just stuck in and and and work
00:41:50
Speaker
And it's it's honest football is not football by ballerinas who earn millions of of of of euros. know These are hardworking people who are on that pitch over there. You accept that, and and and you but you long for that trophy for that for that glorious football that was there like Help Me Out Richard 75 years ago. And then there's a club like Arby Leipzig.
00:42:14
Speaker
ah writing a doorstep, merely 15 years old, only there in your eyes because of ah marketing being a marketing vehicle of Red Bull. And they have such big pockets. You know you look at the worth ah the the the transfer money, the the sum how much your team is worth, what was it? It's about maybe five 5 million euros, they're rated at the moment, and RB Leipzig like 477. Huge, huge difference. And if a club like this arrives with people who support them, of course you look at the people supporting the RB Leipzig fans, they're just supporting them because of the year, because of the success.
00:42:52
Speaker
And it's not fair because they are actually blocking your root of your traditional club with the rich history to the top, which is long and hard anyway. And then there's this new kid on the block, like Arby Leipzig, who doesn't deserve to be there. I'm not sure I would feel, I would probably feel like ah some clubs who are which are around us over here as well, you know, like Auer or, you know, Dünermüdresin, but that's a different story.
00:43:15
Speaker
By the way, their friends are very friendly with the friends of Esfer Werder Bremen, FK Austria Wien, and they also do not like the Red Bull Imperium and Empire, and they're also friendly with cabinet, I have to say, so not sure if that tells you a little bit about their political views, but I just think I just leave this to the side. Anyways, there's another thing that struck me because In ah these 50s, when they won the ah Div Bebokal and they won the German Championship, they had this famous player.
00:43:50
Speaker
meet i got my hand cheese and not cheese
00:43:57
Speaker
ran He's that famous striker who scored the decisive goal in the 1954 World Cup and for enabling West Germany to win their first World Cup. So he's actually from Rottweiss Essen. I didn't realize that, but now if I think there was a movie in 2005, six before the World Cup. And I think there was this guy from Essen mentioned in there as well. But also there there's another player who actually was ah in the sport of Rottweiss Essen when they yeah had three or four years in the Bundesliga at the end of seventies. And that's Horst Rubesch. Now Horst Rubesch is a famous striker from Hamburger-Schwarzwein who then went on to Hamburg.
00:44:36
Speaker
Humber Gesfau in 79, 80 and they won the ah Cup of Champions as well. And just recently in the summer, he's the ah national trainer for the ah women's ladies German football squad and they took bronze in Paris. He's 72 now, still got this long hair and he can still run. I saw that. So he's from worldwide essence. Well, that is a part I didn't know.
00:44:57
Speaker
Ordweiss is a club with a lot of history. They are proud of it, deeply rooted in the yeah community, representing the hardworking people. It's a bit like in the UK or in in England, like the North of England, similar situation, um mining background, steel industry, and very, like I said, very traditional club, really hating, despising anything that RB Leipzig stands for, in their view.
00:45:28
Speaker
Hence, they're going to be out on a protest march this Saturday. They're going to do a fan walk, but it's not the fan walk we had here with the Netherlands, the Dutch people. You know, for Lynx now, right? In a very happy mode. No, they're protesting against clubs like Arby Leipzig, who are not traditional, have deep pockets, and they shouldn't be there.
00:45:48
Speaker
I hope it's going to be um peaceful. Police said there's not much risk of any security risk because there are only 1,100 RB Live 6 supporters who are traveling to Essen. And Essen from here is about seven hours seven or eight hours by by car. So it is quite a long track.
00:46:06
Speaker
So watch out for that. They are actually playing in a very nice stadium. And that stadium is a... I quite like this. One of those modern football stadiums where everybody's close to the pitch. It holds about 20,000 people in there, and it can make it really intense. The corners are open, actually. So it's sort of a stadium like they have in many places. Over here, it's in Zbikal, which is one and a half hours from Leipzig. Just half the size, but built the same way.
00:46:36
Speaker
And if they were to close those corners, they can increase capacity to 27,000. If they put on another level, that's be 34,000. But one of those football stadiums, maybe it's similar to, if you watched last year, if you follow Bobby Leipzig and saw the stadium at Darmstadt, Darmstadt is kind of similar.
00:46:55
Speaker
Everybody's very close to the pitch. It's going to be very intense. And I'm sure the crowd is really going to give it their all to support

Match Atmosphere and Predictions

00:47:02
Speaker
role twice. And then to make it as hard as possible for RB Leipzig to succeed in Essen, but I'm going to include a little link in a show notes. You can take a virtual tour um in the stadium. It's, it's, it's, it's quite a nice stadium. I was there was open in 2012.
00:47:19
Speaker
So there you go. s you know We're going to face Essen. Essen is actually almost as big as Leipzig. The team is ah full of history, full of pride. Currently active in the third Bundesliga. Didn't have a good start, by the way. I think it's not going to be a walk in the park, but hey, we've got to get through it. But although I expect them to be very hostile and a bit nasty, still I have a lot of respect for clubs like this. So let's go to Essen and just beat the heck out of them.
00:47:55
Speaker
ah Thank you. That was beautiful. and then yeah like I would like to like but like to add one more fun fact to the stadium situation. Did you know that the Stadion and the Halfenstrasse and our beloved Red Bull Arena is on the same latitude? No. It's true, actually. You can look it up and both stadiums are on the 51st parallel.
00:48:22
Speaker
hey now cool found something this information just kicked out any really useful information out of your brain i'm sorry for that so there you go not only have you won the same cup 70 years. We only are the same latitude as well. Okay, cool. Great. Thank you, Richard. You know, I don't fear any real threat that we're going out early in this this season because um I looked into ah the the roster of Roadwise Essendon and then I looked into the first two matches, the competitive matches they played already in the
00:48:57
Speaker
third league in Germany, and they lost their home opener versus the newly promoted Alemannia Aachen 1-2 and then won away at Handel for a second squad. and So I don't expect to to gain any useful information out of those two games for the upcoming match in the deep people.
00:49:15
Speaker
How do you rate or how do you think that there are chances if you take into account 20,000 crazy people screaming, yelling, throwing objects? To be honest, um I think they're pretty young lads. You know, what they have only three players at the age of 30 or older and any other player is 25 years or younger.
00:49:37
Speaker
So they're not used to this kind of atmosphere and I think they will be impressed as well. maybe They get about 17,000 people on average, 16,000, 17,000. So the stadium is pretty much full.
00:49:49
Speaker
Yeah, but not that in that hostile mood that then now because you mentioned it, you know, that now this Saturday, there are defenders of the of the ah of Middle Europe versus evil. Yeah, yeah, of course. You know, of course, losing there and the sun won't rise next day. yeah Okay, as well yeah, it's, it's not only about life and death, it's much more.
00:50:09
Speaker
You're right. Gosh, you finally grasped it. and Okay. Our players are very young too, but at the end of the day, when when when it comes to um to the situation like this, ah you where you don't are able to um counter individual skill with experience, individual skill will prevail.
00:50:34
Speaker
e And in that department, our lads are so much better. And I mention it because they know each other, they played and ah each with each other. We will very likely see the same starting 11 that we saw in at least five, six matches yeah last season. So there was no risk about much miscommunication or something like that.
00:50:57
Speaker
And even if Esten should be able to compete for about like 45 or 60 minutes, um when it's come down to to go all the way, and our individual players will we'll find a way. And then in the end of the day, there will be some individual errors on the Esten's lads. And so I expect a at least a three goal differential win, to be honest. Okay, that's good. my My prediction was 4-1 for Leipzig.
00:51:27
Speaker
Well, it's pretty much the same. Yeah. So let's see how we do with that. But I'm still trying reeling from your other bold prediction, you know, but I can't believe it. But hey, you know, you've been there from the start. Why not?
00:51:43
Speaker
I think this concludes our first episode of the new season and apologies for, you know, anything that hasn't gone very smoothly. It's the first episode of the season. We're getting back into rhythm. I had lots of fun.

I haven't got a home open in the Bundesliga. We didn't see that for a decade or something like that. I'm going to move to a new seed. I'm going to move them up to the level under the roof. But next to, you know, next to the stance of the RB Leipzig main supporters. So we should be able to catch a lot of good audio.
00:53:10
Speaker
And new perspective, after nine seasons in Sector D, I'm going to see for myself how Sector D develops now. No show rating or I'm going to

watch. You won't be able to read the letters. You won't be able to read the letters. There won't be an RBLs shining through through it. Are you sure? Yeah, for sure. I'll take my glasses off then I won't read anything. And I'm sure that you will, that we will score goals this time versus Bochen because Manuel Rima is not around, all right? But this is a topic for next season. Is it still hard not to crack?
00:53:39
Speaker
Is it still hard not to go? No, not this time. No, no. But hey, don't spoil now. See you guys next week. Wonderful. Well, thank you very much, everyone. um We really enjoyed this first episode, and we're excited to go into a new season. All we need to say now is... Auf geht! Leipzig eilig!
