Your Pottery. In this episode, I'm going to be talking about masculine versus feminine forms in pottery and white mackerels. A masculine form and a feminine form are very, very different. But why does it matter? In my opinion, what makes a masculine form is this is a masculine form usually has more sharper edges. It is more

straight rather than round. And while a feminine form is the opposite, a feminine form is usually more round and it just usually has that roundness

to it. That is just my opinion. But why does this matter? This matters because you're choosing a form. You're choosing a form on how you want your pottery to look like. And this is super crucial to helping you discover your own pottery voice, in my opinion, because

Shapes are what make pottery pretty much. If you can really nail your shapes, then you can really start developing your voice a lot better. And that's why, in my opinion, it's good to choose between a masculine and a feminine form. But the good thing about pottery is that it's flexible. So if you don't end up liking your masculine form or your feminine form after a while, then you can change it, do the reverse. Instead of

doing a rounded feminine form, you could do maybe a sharper masculine form. It's these little questions that are gonna help you out later on so that you can really discover your voice and focus in on making shapes that you like.

Experimentation and Personal Style

Because if you make the shapes that you like, then you can go a lot further and you're gonna find your voice a lot better. That's why it's important to choose between these masculine and feminine forms.

because you never know which one you're gonna like and which one you don't like. A lot of it's about experimenting. If maybe you thought you liked making masculine forms because you saw it on somebody else's pottery, but after making it, you realize it doesn't really suit your soul. It doesn't really look that good to you. So you maybe go back, go to feminine forms, which is a more rounder shape, and that's okay.

It's about changing your perspective about things.

Conclusion and Resources

So if you can choose between a masculine and feminine form, that is gonna help you so much, in my opinion, with helping you discover your own voice.
