Talkin2Todd: I also got a text from Amy about it. Yes. It's already on the rundown. uh The legal battle, again, just to catch.
Talkin2Todd: Catch you up if if you've forgotten. Iowa lake house owner is in a legal battle with the homeowners association. over unpaid dues and fees. And. fines, and lawyer fees that the total exceeds a million dollars.
Talkin2Todd: The judge suggested that the owner. is using a shell game by transferring the property. from LLC to LLC to evade court orders because the latest thing was that he transferred the property to a different LLC and at which point Well, I'm sorry, Your Honor.
Talkin2Todd: That LLC isn't party to any of this lawsuit, so... Yeah. The judge said no.
Talkin2Todd: The other thing that they tried was one of his attorneys. owns, property.
Talkin2Todd: Not. Not a... not a Not a house. Not a lake house. Not a shed. Not a garage. But property that is currently being farmed?
Talkin2Todd: but is part of the association. And if you own property, then you have access to the lake. the the attorney's the The attorney's fees are all paid up.
Talkin2Todd: So... The original property owner was claiming that his attorney invited his family to the lake. and could therefore then use it because they were invited guests. And the judge also said no.
Todd: Yeah. You know, at some point... Uh... The judge is gonna get pissed.
Todd: Are you trying to evade my rulings? Okay. All right, well, we're done now. Here's the thing. I've been using the small hammer here, the small gavel. Behind this desk, I have a series of large... hammers that I can use at any point. so

Talkin2Todd: the The judge wrote, nothing in this ruling endorses the guest theory. that the attorney advanced, adding that a non -party Who?
Talkin2Todd: with knowledge of an injunction. acts in concert with or aids an enjoined party's violation. could be found in contempt if the association were to file such a motion.

Todd: And hint, hint.

Todd: And also... Just to be, as I'm hearing from the bench. I'm just saying that's that's a path that could happen. Also...
Todd: While you, the the owner of the house, are... the former owner of the house, because who knows who owns this LLC. Should the lawyer...
Todd: You said he was a lawyer. should the lawyer be found in contempt. That starts getting to be a bit of an issue. because a court officer because a lawyer is an officer of the court and held to a higher standard.

Todd: And. could be disbarred. for or it could be sanctioned by the Bar Association. That's a hint going two ways. Number one. hint to the association.

Talkin2Todd: That was my favorite part of the ruling. My second favorite part of the ruling was the section that was titled. The shell game will not defeat the court's orders.

Talkin2Todd: it's The apparent object of each maneuver has been to argue that whoever presently holds title is beyond the reach of the court's decree. He added,
Talkin2Todd: If so, the association can preserve. can pursue further steps, including seeking to set aside the property transactions or appointing a receiver, appointing a receiver.
Talkin2Todd: Oh, sweet Lord.
Todd: Yeah. Yep. I would also be...
Talkin2Todd: Look, if you can't manage this yourself, we will appoint someone to manage it for you.
Todd: Yeah. i also this is interesting and i don't know about the rules of the hoa but having lived in multiple HOAs, served on a board, et cetera, et cetera. Most HOAs.
Todd: have a transfer fee that has to be paid every time ownership. his changed hands. And my assumption is. Given the fact that he isn't paying anything to the HOA.
Todd: Every time he moved it to an LLC, that should have triggered, it may have triggered a... Yeah. uh, some sort of percentage or a fee that had to have been paid. And so all of the new LLCs are also probably now racking up. fines.
Todd: Sheesh. You know, here's the thing. If the guy would just would have done what he's supposed to do, he wouldn't have this. he's gonna This is going to end up costing him. he's First of all, he's going to lose. Second, the amount of money he's spending on lawyers.
Todd: is going to be exceeding the part that he would have had to pay.
Talkin2Todd: You know what? Here's five grand. And here's another five grand for the next time I speed on the lake. And you know what? Here's another five grand after that. And I'm still a million dollars ahead.

Todd: Yeah. Apple, Apple did. apple introduced a number of new things first of all they introduced their new ceo John Ternus was introduced today. uh in the video uh And actually.
Todd: Not that it matters. At. They had a whole opening montage of things, and they were trying to figure out, like, how do you start a movie? And they're like, oh, it could be like this, it could be like this, it could be like this. And they're like, no, no, no, you have to introduce the main character.
Todd: And then Tim Cook shows up. And then he says. Not me. That's your guy. And then he gets out of the frame, and then John Ternus comes walking out like John Wick, kind of. And I'm like.
Todd: What a beautiful way to like, this is Tim's been doing this for 15 years and he's like. It's not me anymore. This is the guy. Tip. Tim took over Apple as Steve Jobs was dying.
Todd: And it didn't go very smoothly. Let's put it that way. Everybody was actually concerned that the entire company was going to fall apart. Uh,

Todd: Tim. Tim has spent years. Making sure that this handoff. was going to go. just the way it needed to go, including raising prices on almost everything a month ago on his watch.

Todd: iPhone 18 Pro. Pro Max. They're at least $100 more. Actually, every phone that is for sale went up by $100. Today... Lindsay's been talking about getting a new phone. and on sunday i think we texted her and said if you're going to buy a new phone buy it before wednesday So she went, I think on Monday, bought a new phone.
Todd: That phone's $100 more today. so You can get it in burgundy. uh they got rid of the cosmic orange and
Todd: there you go it's a nice upgrade it's not a massive upgrade It's fine. New AirPods. Now, AirPod Pros with the cameras, new AirPods, the the big deal about it is...
Talkin2Todd: Saw that.
Todd: They had introduced last year. The regular AirPods that just sit in your ear that has noise cancellation. I don't even know what kind of magic they do. Anyway, they brought that down to the cheapest pair. So for $129, you can now get AirPods with Active noise cancellation.
Todd: Who knew? And then. They didn't introduce anything from the home. which everybody thought they would do. New watches. Series 12 in Ultra 4.
Todd: Fun, fun new feature of those watches. They can. Listen. to the conversations you're having. At all times.
Todd: And. They demonstrated, if you miss something, you can ask your watch, what was that? And it will go back through and... give you the text of what happened like in the last 15 or 20 seconds.
Todd: or It. can on your watch the uh apple ai can take notes for you. or write summaries. So.
Talkin2Todd: Really?
Todd: Not sure I'm loving this. So your Apple Watch can now just record every conversation you have. Ew. But not.
Todd: I'm not loving that part. if I'm honest.

Todd: And then they moved on. and they introduced the new iPhone Duo, which is a folding iPhone. which starts at $19 .99. And that will come out at the, you can pre -order those at the mid part of October and it will come out in the second half of October. So if you've been dying to spend two grand on an iPhone.
Todd: or you've wanted a folding phone. I mean, it this is definitely a folding phone. Yep. it it is a It is a folding phone. So.
Talkin2Todd: True. True to Apple form, they let other people work out the kinks. on the folding phone on the folding phones
Todd: and in And in the case of a folding phone, literally the kinks.

Todd: That screen is jacked. It's got a big kink in it. Yeah. As a matter of fact, not only did they let everybody else work it out, the exact screen that they use is made by Samsung. and Samsung introduced the phone with this exact shape.
Todd: and the exact screen. Two months ago? six weeks ago so they're not even the first to have this exact uh this exact screen

Todd: So. It actually, I will say this, on Sunday I was in an airport getting ready to fly back up to Salt Lake City. And i was the guy sitting across from me had... i had a folding phone. And to be honest, I haven't seen very many people with an actual.
Todd: folding phone. And i'm just I'm just looking at... And I'm like. Huh. Okay, now I get it. Like. Not that I have to have it.
Todd: But he had it unfolded. And it's like you've got an iPad mini with you.

Talkin2Todd: Right, which explains why they haven't put any money into the iPad mini. lately. Right. Yeah.
Todd: Well, the They first started taking the iPad mini and folding it, and they kept just breaking those. And they're like, you know what? I don't think this is the right way to go about this. so

Talkin2Todd: My buddy George has a folding... I don't know. so It's an Android. It has a folding one. and It is nice. i will say if he can watch movies on it and it and it's not tiny
Todd: Yeah, yeah. the fold it up the front screen is only like five and a half inches so it's much shorter but then you open it up And then it is it's this nice seven and a half.
Talkin2Todd: Right.
Todd: 7 .9 inch screen. It's four by three, so it's it's a different. aspect ratio than any of the phones you've ever seen before. Interesting.
Todd: They're pointing out when it is unfolded, it is the thinnest iPhone ever. It's not the thinnest thinnest product ever. That's the current.
Todd: iPad Pro. pros. This is 0 .1 millimeter thicker. When it's. Unfolded. Now, when it's folded, it is the second thickest iPhone.
Todd: It's the thickest iPhone since the 3GS. It's a thick boy. So let's not measure it that way. Like, let's just let's just it's thin if you open it.
Talkin2Todd: look
Todd: Yeah. But if you double the thinnest one, the the thinnest one ever. It's got to go somewhere. So, yeah. Anyway. that's You're going to notice that in your pocket. so Anyway, oh, and then the new OSs will be coming out. So I think on the 14th is the iOS 27, which has the new and improved Siri that I was talking about.
Todd: So. Yeah, next Monday you can start updating updating your phone and other other items. so There you go. Everybody, even if you don't up buy anything new, you get new software. well As long as you have compatible products, because, you know.

Todd: I think it drops to $57. Hmm. Now it's like, oh, that's that's why they did this. Because nobody's going to.

Todd: Last year, they came out with Apple Care One, where you pay a fee and you can have Apple Care on.

Todd: They introduced... what I don't even know what the... Basically, it's AppleCare. You could only... You couldn't... you The AppleCare one only works on a per -person basis. So you couldn't cover...
Todd: Your phone and Amy's phone. it has to It's all tied to a single account. Well, they fixed that. They they announced AppleCare 1 for families will be coming out.
Talkin2Todd: Oh.
Todd: Yeah, this one's kind of interesting. The individual plan was $20 a month. They gave you three devices and then any other device you added was $5 .99 a month. So you you could...
Todd: add up. The current family one is. They have to be members of your Apple family. Right. So.
Talkin2Todd: Right.
Todd: It covers up to six people. It's $50 a month. But... Every Apple device owned by... all the members of the family.
Todd: are included. for that $50 a month.
Talkin2Todd: 600 bucks a year in Apple insurance. I don't know
Todd: that's That's how much our flood insurance costs in the undisclosed location, but you know, sure, whatever. Isn't that a desert? Yes, that's why you have flood insurance, because it's a desert. Because a single drop of rain... can shut the whole town down for like four days.
Todd: Here's the thing, though. It depends on how you think about this. I think. AppleCare Plus for phones. is now $13 or $14 a month.

Todd: Uh... If you have four people paying $14 a month to cover their phones, that's $56 a month. Everything else is free. Basically. but you are paying Apple $600. Hey, Apple, how about you just make good stuff?

Todd: They actually built. As you exit through the security. They actually built an entire reception room. for the sometimes hundreds of people who are waiting for people to get off the plane.
Todd: these These are, generally speaking, returned to missionaries. Uh, And it got to the point that.

Todd: Before they did this. you would get off a plane and would literally have to fight through crowds holding signs. Now, admittedly, they haven't seen their son or daughter, grandson, brother, sister for two years.
Todd: They may have been in Uganda. Nobody knows. Anyway. Had to fight our ways through the crowd. So they said hey, here's a room Sunday when I got off the plane there was a crowd of 50 people. None of them were in the room.
Todd: They were all right outside of security. guys we built you a room like there's an actual like look it's a nice room anyway they were so To your point. Who's going to the airport who doesn't need to? This may...
Todd: There was a headline in the Salt Lake Tribune that said, Hey, you can now meet your missionary. at The. Gate. And my thought was, oh, my goodness. now We're going to have more people going through security. This is going to be great. This is awesome. Yeah, lines aren't long enough. We should have more people.
Talkin2Todd: There are. 13 airports that are participating in this phased -in approach.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Salt Lake City is one of them. Yep. The good news is they shouldn't be bringing any luggage or anything. And it's all TSA pre -check. So they should be able to stand in line.

Todd: we've We've talked about... smart things, surveillance, et cetera, et cetera. We've talked about Vizio TVs, keeping track of everything that you're watching and reporting those back now to Walmart because they own them.
Todd: There has been a thought of, well, if you buy if you buy a TV from a well -known brand, not some of these sketchy... ones like you don't have to worry about this well that is not the case so
Todd: A YouTube channel has done some... has done some research and found out that LG TVs. which, by the way, are not. Some of them are not inexpensive at all. I think we we have one. I think that's what we have done in the main one in the disclose and disclose location.
Todd: They are monitoring. what you're watching and send reports back. And by monitoring, they're literally figuring out what's on the screen. And then there's technology that figures out what frame is that.
Todd: They're also listening to which programs you're listening to through the audio system so that they can also report back, oh, this is what you were watching. But this is where things get super fun.
Todd: They are also using... They're using the microphones. Uh... on the TV or on the remote.
Todd: to record you. and your environment. And. Even if you turn the TV. into standby mode.
Todd: or turn it off The TV continues to record audio. in your... living room, bedroom, or whatever. storing it on board when the TV is turned off. So it's not really off, but you think it's off. It is literally recording 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Todd: It then stores all of the audio. And then it will then send it. Back. to be analyzed to LG so that they can determine what it is that you're doing so that they can figure out.
Todd: which adds to send you.
Talkin2Todd: I I have read... that Even if you go to the See? extra step. Of not. connecting you're TV.
Talkin2Todd: to your Wi -Fi and are just using it as a monitor. Right, and you you hook up your Apple TV. And. are watching everything through your Apple TV and are just using your screen as a monitor.
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: But the monitor is not connected to the internet.
Todd: Correct.
Talkin2Todd: The monitor is still recording all of that.
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: and holding it.
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: Until you. connect to the internet, and then it's dumping everything.
Todd: That is true. That is what has been found, yes. Yes, they do it basically just buffer all of it, and then as soon as there is an internet connection...
Todd: Yes, that's that's the way. Vizios and tctl TCL. and other tvs do work as well but if you're not on the internet as soon as you connect it
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: It will send all of the information about what you've watched and everything else. This one is the, wait, they're they're recording you even in standby.
Todd: Yeah. Now, as as this as this group pointed out, It's not that big a deal. There's only about 216 million LG TVs. have been sold.
Todd: So... Good news.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: It's not widespread.
Todd: Yeah.

Talkin2Todd: Can we go back and pick that pin up about things that are listening to you? And how excited you were about the ability? for your watch to listen to you and play back your conversation.
Todd: Okay, if you were clear. I was not excited about that. I specifically said I don't think I love this. i don't I don't love it when LG's doing it, and I don't love it when Apple's doing it. Here's... I'm going to say this though. Here's my problem with what Apple is doing.
Todd: Okay, LG is doing all this. It's not telling you any of that. Okay, that's fine. I mean, it's not fine. Whatever. My problem with what Apple is doing... is... It is recording your conversations. You can turn it on or off on your watch.
Todd: If you turn it on. you know that your watch is recording the conversation. Conversations imply other. person. It shouldn't be expected. as a person talking, oh, is your watch recording me?
Todd: That's where I understand the utility of taking notes for you.
Talkin2Todd: how did How are they getting around two -party consent states?
Todd: But...
Todd: because I don't believe they're actually, quote unquote, recording the audio. They're bringing the audio in and turning it into. a summary or transcript, but it's not an audio recording.

Todd: You can't go back and listen to it.

Todd: There's no way to go back and listen. Apple doesn't have access to it.

Todd: I could have slept in. and uh champions league uh was also this week so uh yeah there we go lots of lots of sports How about you? What have you watched?
Talkin2Todd: Wicked. Saturday night. With a show that's 25 years old, and it's been on tour a long time, and it's had a lot of cast members, you know you you don't know what you're going to get.
Talkin2Todd: In a touring production, it's an equity production, so it ought to be good. Right. But. you just you just never know because the show's been around for quite a while so You never know exactly what you're going to get in terms of talent. These two ladies were amazing.
Talkin2Todd: Their voices. We started, we started out and. amy's like i don't know a little warbly and and they both absolutely knocked it out of the park on these songs, on the big hits where you expect them to really nail it. They really nailed it. but We all know.
Talkin2Todd: Wicked's in my top five -ish. I really love this show. It was... absolutely what I was looking for. They did a really good job. It's in town for two weeks. Two and a half weeks? I don't know. If I fall into tickets, I may go again.
Todd: Okay. i mean I don't know why somebody would... keep going to the same musical over and over again.

Todd: And then. 50 miles to the north, there is another town that also has an airport. Now. The disclose and disclose location is. very popular. It's a...
Todd: one of the fastest growing cities in America. Lots of tourists. so The airfare there is not inexpensive. the town 50 miles to the north is part of the government program.
Todd: which, uh, help subsidize an air carrier there so that they have air service. There's quite a few airports in the out west that.
Talkin2Todd: oh
Todd: are part of this program. so that there's air service. And it's not as popular. it's a it's a small it's a college town but it's a smaller town Here's what I found out this weekend. I was flying from Salt Lake to the undisclosed location.
Todd: on Friday. before Labor Day. And. Here I am with my with my silver membership. silver medallion.
Todd: uh and Uh, there were they even They even put a bigger plane on. They they went from the 550 up to the 175, so they added more seats. And at one point, I was 15 of 16 on the...
Todd: first class upgrade list. There were not. 15 seats available. There were like five. didn't get upgraded. That's fine. I had forgot to click the button to say also put me on the list for comfort.
Todd: And I was like, that was. Dumb. And then I looked, well, everybody who cleared comfort was ahead of me on the first class list, and I would have never cleared anyway. Okay. Fine.
Todd: When I flew back Monday night, I flew back from the smaller airport
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: There were on the 550. There were. Seven first class seats and 14. Delta comfort seats available.
Todd: uh I was one of two for the first class upgrade. Every time I make that flight. I do get upgraded. Because my silver membership is... perfectly fine lisa's actually comment was she's like you might be one of the top 10 flyers into that airport at this point and i'm not even staying in that town so what i learned is So...
Todd: So you go to a you you go to a small... capacity -constrained, busy airport, you usually pay through the nose. And, oh, everybody's got status. 50 miles away, and actually it's less because our house is kind of in between the middle of those, so it's it's not that far of a drive. Hey, congratulations, Todd.
