Talkin2Todd: Yeah, that's Probably a good call on your part not to go right then. I mean, you don't really wanna record on work time.
Todd: Oh, it wasn't that. i just I just have bad acoustics in my office.
Talkin2Todd: two Jesus. Are you serious?

Todd: Was the theme song a constant cadence the entire time in your in your earbuds? Because...
Talkin2Todd: Why, was yours fast then slow?
Todd: it It was slow.
Talkin2Todd: Slow then fast.
Todd: it was it was slow like it had to get going and then once it got up to speed then it was just like i'm downhill now man like this thing was flying along
Talkin2Todd: Interesting.
Todd: Sweet. You know what? That must be another AI -enabled feature. And Zencaster.
Talkin2Todd: Huh. Thanks, Zen.
Todd: Strut.
Talkin2Todd: Appreciate you guys.
Todd: Sweet.
Talkin2Todd: They're so helpful. could you hear but Better than last week. You could hear the theme the entire time.
Todd: When I couldn't hear anything at all. So, yeah. Jeez.
Talkin2Todd: So like.
Todd: he can't hear anything we slow it down we speed it up nothing we do he just complains about it all I don't know
Talkin2Todd: Oh, sweet Lord. The... yeah This is... This isn't really a travel story. uh it's kind of And it's not really feedback.
Todd: Well, that's good. because because that's lead Because that's later.
Talkin2Todd: Because that's later.
Todd: Okay. But we are feedback. Okay.
Talkin2Todd: We are. Okay, so feedback, follow -up, and updates.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah, because it's not... it Okay. From Danny. Danny, uh, toddler 401k.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Full disclosure. You said you got a check from Wells Fargo class action lawsuit. And I immediately thought, Oh. Well that'll get him a fancy cup of coffee while he's traveling for work.
Todd: Hey.
Todd: Yep. that... That's class action lawsuit settlement right there.
Talkin2Todd: if There it is. Yep. Maybe.
Todd: Although. In most cases, it's a coupon.
Talkin2Todd: Maybe. Yeah.
Todd: It's a coupon for 20 % off a fancy, well. Actually, what it would be is 10 % off. the additional fees on top of the originating fees from a mortgage at Wells Fargo.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah, the buy one, get one free.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: Exactly.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah, just to... Yeah. So anyway, so the fact that it was large enough to take... All right. Amy out for dinner. makes him smile so there you go So thank you, Danny.
Talkin2Todd: Appreciate that. Let's see, from toddler Matt Damon. Dwayne's Technical Corner is a certified banger. No notes.
Talkin2Todd: There you go, Jesse. You and the legal eagles. figure out how to Figure out how to publish that Uh, now we got to, I can't bleep anymore.
Talkin2Todd: Anyway. Also...
Talkin2Todd: true From Jake. Jake's a Royals fan.
Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: So am I. And this is in relation to... You remember the... the organ music. that is playing forever.
Talkin2Todd: and how it started out with two years of so it started out with two years of silence.
Todd: Yes.
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: So Jake's comment was... Two years of silence. is how I intend to kick off my one -hour recap. of all the great things the Royals did this year.
Talkin2Todd: Heh.
Talkin2Todd: you Okay. Yup.
Todd: Heh.
Talkin2Todd: It's accurate.
Todd: performance art.
Talkin2Todd: And. And feedback piece number three from Toddler Matt Damon. We challenged him because he sent us the... prices for the beer in Ames.
Talkin2Todd: we we we challenged him or or required that he go to Ames to an Iowa State game.
Todd: Yeah, it was legally binding because we... we
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: we already talked about it. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: We did our part.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: I'm doing my part.
Talkin2Todd: Jake says, I may need to show sponsorship. I may need a show sponsorship to get up to Ames for a beer price report. or I'll wait until November when that $15 beer costs more than the ticket.
Talkin2Todd: Okay. Do it any way you want, Jake. Just do it.
Todd: How? How's Penn State doing this year? Better. Oh.
Talkin2Todd: no
Talkin2Todd: We're going to talk about them later too.
Todd: Oh, okay. Okay. I'm just. not Not a lot of... not Not a lot of hope there in cyclone country.
Talkin2Todd: A new head coach. So...
Todd: Yep. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: It is what it is. Toddler negative 18, Sarah Judser -Brown. I was behind on the pod. Getting caught up. Love the new theme songs for Todd's Tech Corner and Dwayne's Technical Corner.
Talkin2Todd: Jesse? Others love them as much as we do.
Todd: I'm starting to realize. People tell us our favorite episodes are the episodes with guests.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: including Lisa and Danny.
Todd: And the favorite part of the show. is our theme song. And now. It's the bumper music that was created. uh by the dino toddler And now by Jesse.
Talkin2Todd: Uh huh.
Todd: Yeah. Okay, just checking.
Talkin2Todd: Uh huh.
Todd: just I'm trying to figure out the common thread between all of the favorite parts of the show.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. Yeah.
Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. yeah the uh
Talkin2Todd: The YouTube episode that has the most. views. is the twit Is the Taylor Swift one with Hannah?
Todd: Oh yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: I'm surprised we haven't gotten a takedown order on that one yet, if I'm honest.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah, it's... other Oh we didn't play any songs.
Todd: I know. I'm just saying.
Talkin2Todd: She is litigious.
Todd: I don't think you have. Yeah, I was going to say there there are lawyers.
Talkin2Todd: Let's see. God, there's a lot of feedback this week. From Yvonne and Wrigley.
Todd: There is.
Talkin2Todd: Widow's Bay is a yes. If you've only watched the first episode, all I can say is it only gets better. It's not a spoiler, but be prepared for a major plot twist. So...
Talkin2Todd: There you go, Todd. You're welcome.
Todd: Excellent. Although once you know that there's a major plot twist, then... it's sort of like remember like law and order used to be like and you'll never believe what happens the last 30 seconds so then you're just like i don't know whatever's happening here i just got to wait for the last oh okay yeah cool but Yep.
Talkin2Todd: Okay.
Todd: All right.
Talkin2Todd: But i'm I'm not invested because now I know there's a twist.
Todd: Good to know.
Todd: Yeah. but But maybe not here because it keeps getting better. So.
Talkin2Todd: So... There you go.
Todd: Good to know.
Talkin2Todd: Also, there's going to be a meetup in September. Here in Des Moines, because. Toddlers 1059 and 1060.
Talkin2Todd: are headed through Iowa. So it's not a full -blown ToddCon unless both of the hosts are in attendance. So if only one of the hosts are in attendance.
Talkin2Todd: then it becomes a ToddCon. so Or it becomes a meetup.
Todd: Yeah. Yeah, just to meet up.
Talkin2Todd: Excuse me. I apologize.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah, it's just a meetup. So there will be a meetup in September. with toddlers 10 59 and 10 60 so we are Very excited. about that. Can't wait. Fantastic.
Todd: Hey, since Wrigley's going to be there, you guys going to the place just up the road? that is the restaurant with the dog park all built into it, the brewery.
Talkin2Todd: Huh. No, actually, you know, I suggested that. to amy and she's like do you know how many hoops you have to jump through to get your dog approved to go in to the dog park.
Todd: Yep.
Talkin2Todd: like You've got to bring all of your shot paperwork and the fact that they're registered and all of this. No, it's just not.
Todd: And...
Talkin2Todd: so
Todd: And the good news is you don't have to do any of that when you bring them into Olive Garden. So it's fine.
Talkin2Todd: Cute.
Talkin2Todd: Or... or to the Johnson's fenced backyard. Go nuts.
Todd: That works as well. Okay.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: That works. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. it's
Talkin2Todd: Did you have any feedback this week that you received?
Todd: No, none from us. we we're uh We've had some weird schedules, so we're a little behind. So, yeah, no feedback here.
Talkin2Todd: Okay.
Todd: we'll We'll talk about the weird schedules later.
Talkin2Todd: Okay. had a couple of
Talkin2Todd: So the first one, last week's title.
Talkin2Todd: was $35 worth of eh?
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: which You know how we started using Claude?
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: To vet our titles for us find our titles for us
Todd: Yes. Suggest titles for us.
Talkin2Todd: Yes. So Claude suggests, and then we decide.
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: Claude suggested. $35 worth of eh.
Todd: Ned.
Talkin2Todd: There was...
Todd: then to be clear when you suggest and that when you said hey here's the suggestions
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: I went. I look at him and I'm like, I don't. I don't even remember what that's in response. I don't remember either one of us ever saying that. I don't even know what topic that was about.
Todd: But here's the thing. Because I think I know where you're headed. At least. I think every other episode. You send me titles and I go, that's a good episode, but I don't remember what it is for. And so normally I ask, what is that for? And then you tell me. And I've decided I'm like, this is starting to make me look bad. Like, I don't know what we recorded.
Talkin2Todd: I'm not paying attention
Todd: Like. Yeah, I don't i don't listen to this show while you record it.
Talkin2Todd: I don't read this paper.
Todd: yeah yeah Exactly. So I didn't even ask. I'm just like, you know what? That one sounds good. And I'm assuming you vetted them. i Just because I can't remember it doesn't mean it's not funny.
Todd: Okay, so what did you want to say?
Talkin2Todd: Uh... Yep. We said $35. worth of something Bitcoin?
Talkin2Todd: so It was $35 worth of credit. to try to get AI. Claude. to count the M &Ms.
Todd: Got it. Yes, but it wasn't $35 of... Eh.
Talkin2Todd: yeah It was $35 worth of garbled.
Todd: It gave up.
Todd: Hmm.
Talkin2Todd: Language.
Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: Which Claude came back as... Eh. And you know what? it Close enough. But at this point qualifies as a, actually.
Todd: I can't wait to see what Claude does with all of that.
Talkin2Todd: Give me a summary there, would you, Claude?
Todd: Show summary. claude Claude did a bad job.
Talkin2Todd: No, no, no, Claude won't report
Todd: I want it. It won't. It won't happen again.
Talkin2Todd: Claude will not report. No, no, no.
Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: yeah
Todd: It won't happen again. You just did it again. Yeah, I'm sorry. Will you do it again? Probably. More money, please.
Talkin2Todd: You were ready to catch that.
Todd: Dude.
Todd: I am a scamp.
Talkin2Todd: Did you have any corrections? corrections
Todd: Uh, no. Oh! Sorry, i put I put that item. It's not a correction. It's follow -up.
Talkin2Todd: oh Okay.
Todd: There's a difference. Sorry.
Talkin2Todd: So we had an actually on the actuallys.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Thank you. Okay.
Todd: I mean... Uh. A better broadcaster, podcaster would have not referred to the fact that I just screwed up the show document because nobody else can see it. And I would have said, nope. That's fine. And then it had you go, wasn't that there? Nope.
Todd: But. Had to hang a lantern on it. Okay.
Talkin2Todd: I could. I could actually fix that in the edit. if I felt like it.
Todd: You're not editing it.
Talkin2Todd: yeah we but We all know this at this point.
Todd: yeah Yeah, that's... That's not going to happen. So we're on to follow up.
Talkin2Todd: I believe we are, yes.
Todd: Yeah, yeah. Hey, by the way...
Talkin2Todd: It's great transition.
Todd: Hey, do you remember you brought the fact that the the White House teleprompter. operator got busted for placing Money. not on wagers, but on futures contracts or prediction markets on Kelshi for things that the president may say.
Talkin2Todd: Correct, yes.
Todd: Yeah. So... The federal federal regulators came to reach a settlement. with Gabriel Perez. He is going to pay a $65 ,000 civil monetary penalty.
Todd: And. give up more than $107 ,000. that he... one. He will also be suspended from trading for three years. I wonder, oh man, I wonder if...
Todd: Quick question. I wonder. if there was a market on how long he will be suspended for. If he could have put money down on that. before. The settlement.
Talkin2Todd: before he got suspended?
Todd: Before he got us, technically it was before. It was before. i happened to i I happen to know it was three. Anyway, $175 ,000, although $107 ,000 of it was stuff that he already won. so Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: here's the Here's the other thing, though. Maybe Bill Simmons could have gotten someone else to place that bet for him.
Todd: yeah Yeah, Bill found out that that's illegal. Live on air and has been contacted by the by by.
Talkin2Todd: Yep. Massachusetts.
Todd: Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Talkin2Todd: Gaming authority.
Todd: Yeah. Ugh.
Talkin2Todd: Oops.
Todd: Why do I think that Bill's probably not gonna... Bill is not going to be face the same consequences that maybe college students might be facing for that.
Talkin2Todd: I think you may be correct
Todd: Yeah. It's good to be the king.
Talkin2Todd: He's probably not going to have to sit out a year. like Iowa and Iowa State students did.
Todd: Dude.
Todd: That's okay. They can just go pro for a year and then come back. I don't know. Nothing makes sense.
Talkin2Todd: Nothing makes sense anymore. I did have a construction update.
Todd: Oh. Excellent. Uh...
Talkin2Todd: Uh,
Todd: What?
Talkin2Todd: Sadly.
Todd: Oh.
Talkin2Todd: I don't. I don't have the Michael Keaton audio on the soundboard anymore.
Todd: We got to get you like a soundboard XL or something.
Talkin2Todd: But we did it.
Todd: like
Talkin2Todd: I need, yes, I...
Todd: Like...
Talkin2Todd: Here's the thing. Does Zincaster keep improving things? using really heavy air quotes there, improving things, but they're not improving the things that I need, which is a longer soundboard.
Todd: Heh heh.
Talkin2Todd: But. But I had a construction update, so...
Todd: so
Talkin2Todd: We're going to.
Todd: Yeah, are you, what are you using, 220?
Talkin2Todd: Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes.
Todd: I sound like a real handy guy there.
Talkin2Todd: So.
Todd: And scene. Okay.
Talkin2Todd: and Martin Mull, with us, not with us?
Todd: I believe not with us.
Talkin2Todd: Not with us is correct. Oh, I had one other. I'm going to need to jump back up in the rundown.
Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: Another piece of feedback. From David Batchelder.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Tyler, number six.
Talkin2Todd: Three things. 1.
Talkin2Todd: He now, when somebody says someone's full name, that's a celebrity He now thinks in his head. With us, not with us.
Todd: Heh. Yep. Yeah. It's a great game. You can play it at home. You can play it on the grow. You can just. On the ground.
Talkin2Todd: You can play by yourself.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: that or with others.
Talkin2Todd: Go.
Todd: It's a great party game.
Talkin2Todd: Item number two from David. Catching backup on these. I totally beat Todd to With Us, Not With Us on Jerry Tarkanian.
Todd: Okay? Yep.
Talkin2Todd: And number three, there was a day this last week that he solved the wordle in two. And he wonders if Todd thinks he's a liar.
Todd: No, no, no, no, no. no No. What would make me concerned? is after I solve it in two. Then suddenly... David texts me and says, I got it in two as well.
Todd: No, no, no, not... Like you do you.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: What I'm saying is, is the bot that's built into the system. Just. This is, I will say this. Okay. I'm not calling you a liar, I'm not calling anybody a liar What I'm saying is, is can you imagine playing blackjack?
Todd: If the dealer gave you your cards. And then you went through. and said, okay, I'm on 19. Uh... Okay. Peace.
Todd: Hold. Stay. Right. And then the dealer then deals. pulls out their cards from under the table and says, sorry, I had 21. No, no, you have to show your cards ahead of time too.
Todd: That's the way this works.
Talkin2Todd: I solved it. I solved one of them in five this week. And the bot says, I solved it in five too. I'm like, screw you. I i was terrible today.
Todd: yeah yeah
Talkin2Todd: you i You solved it in four or at least three. This was a terrible effort by me. And I actually finally got, I snuck it in at five. And that was.
Talkin2Todd: that That was a charity tie. It was not it was not a real... i didn't
Todd: Hey, buddy.
Talkin2Todd: Seriously.
Todd: I got it in five too. Hey, little slugger.
Talkin2Todd: Nice work.
Todd: Hehehe.
Talkin2Todd: Little pat on the head.
Todd: By the way.
Talkin2Todd: Oh, sweet Lord.
Todd: Okay, be we're still waiting on that.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: Uh,
Talkin2Todd: Uh -huh.
Todd: We did see yesterday, they've now got games, the New York Times has games they release every Wednesday.
Talkin2Todd: hooks
Todd: I think they started this in August, but... We missed it. So we did it last night and it was wordle in one.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: And Lisa's like, what do you.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: before we looked at it we said wordle in one it's basically like okay like what's your Like what's your word? Poker. fail. Damn it. What kind of game is this?
Todd: You got one chance to guess a word with no letters. just Go.
Talkin2Todd: Just kidding. I thought... I'm like, what the? hell is this and then i'm like oh okay so they're prompting you and there's really only one solution it does make sense when you get in to play it
Todd: They're giving you...
Todd: Yeah, I did. But before we opened it, I'm just like, we're in one. This - this seems like the that's kind of like what's your what game are you're playing kick a rock i don't like just
Talkin2Todd: good
Todd: Guess a number. Do you have a range? No. Five, wrong. What?
Talkin2Todd: Wrong.
Todd: Damn.
Talkin2Todd: 42? Still wrong.
Todd: Stop.
Talkin2Todd: No, no. no One number. You only get one guess.
Todd: You get one guest a week.
Talkin2Todd: Damn.
Todd: Is next week, is are you going to have the same number? Nope, new number. Ugh!
Talkin2Todd: Oh my God.
Todd: Anyway. Oh. Construction updates.
Talkin2Todd: Construction update. So from the fraternity house, I got a phone call a week ago on Wednesday, on Wednesday night. uh The burner won't turn off?
Talkin2Todd: electric stove. At least it's not a gas stove. electric stove.
Todd: I always think gassed up. I'm like, well.
Talkin2Todd: Hmm.
Todd: I mean, that'll solve itself out eventually.
Talkin2Todd: Eventually, right?
Todd: Also.
Talkin2Todd: Meanwhile...
Todd: Quick question, does anybody remember where the fire extinguishers are?
Talkin2Todd: First question. How long has it been like this? I don't know maybe a day. Jesus.
Todd: i
Talkin2Todd: Can you pull it out from the wall and carefully unplug it? Yes, we can do that. Fantastic. I'll be there as soon as I can which was two days later.
Talkin2Todd: And then, so on Friday. I went up. Plugged it back in, checked it. Yep, still going off. uh still hot There's no way to turn it off.
Talkin2Todd: It's not the knob. and I don't know what's going on, but it's a 10 year old stove. at least and that's being generous because it's been around i don't know Anyway.
Todd: Yeah, but but here's the thing.
Talkin2Todd: Like.
Todd: A cooking appliance and a fraternity, well, it depends. It can go one of two ways. A cooking appliance and a fraternity, either. Every year is like. It's like dog years. It's like 14 years of regular use.
Todd: Or... Eww. In my fraternity, Uh... On the weekends. When we didn't have somebody who was there cooking. I don't think the kitchen was used at all. So... It's it's either lightly used or commercially used.
Talkin2Todd: it's But the the cost to have someone come out and try to repair it.
Todd: Yep.
Talkin2Todd: but between the service call and the parts Whizzy. easier for me to just go. and cheaper. for me to just go by. a different used Appliance. with a one -year warranty on it.
Talkin2Todd: Uh... And so Saturday morning we did that. disposed of the old one installed the new one And the kids have a new have a new stove with. And for me, I thought this was an improvement. The old stove.
Talkin2Todd: had the oven. that had the burner on the bottom. Where? If. you know you leave a pizza in too long and it melts and things run down they fall down onto the burner
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: That was the old stove. The new stove.
Todd: The element. the the element
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: There we go
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. that Thank you. Yeah, the element was on the
Todd: It... Although. Although, to be completely honest. As Lisa points out. When she's gone and I cook the frozen pizzas, the element does become the burner because that's where the smell of burn comes from.
Todd: It's... It's the melted cheese on the element. Oh, the burner.
Talkin2Todd: Oh.
Todd: Yep.
Talkin2Todd: Oh, you were in a fraternity, that's right that's That's exactly how that works.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Anyway, on the new on the new oven, the element is up top. So nothing is going to fall onto it? And all of the heat. radiates down.
Talkin2Todd: to cook the pizza.
Todd: There's a non -zero chance.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: In the next three months, you're going to get a call that says. Hey, we were cooking some stuff in the oven. And some stuff got on the burner.
Todd: And it it doesn't look good. And you're like, but it's on top. How did that? Never mind. Unplug it, and I will be there in two days. I...
Talkin2Todd: It's a standard service call from Five. House Corps. That's... Two days.
Talkin2Todd: Two days, Eli. Two days. That's what we got. Let's see, what do we... Have I delayed long enough?
Talkin2Todd: That's right. That sound means it's time for America's favorite game. It's time for Dwayne gets a number. Okay, hit me.
Todd: Okay. Got one main one and then a side, just a side one for for you here. But the main one is.
Todd: the the The Buffalo Bills. opened their brand new football stadium. uh, To.
Todd: Rousing indifference. Actually, it wasn't it wasn't rousing indifference. A number of people liked it. All of the people that paid their personal seat license that couldn't see the field because of railings. And then they and then.
Todd: win.
Talkin2Todd: It walls.
Todd: and walls and then when the bills said oh that wasn't a mistake we did it on purpose that didn't go over as well as the bills thought it was going to after people paid Five figures.
Todd: yeah No, no, we designed that you can't see the field. And I also believe that one of the unnamed players after playing in a preseason game. uh Somebody said, how was the field? And he said, it's ass.
Todd: which i don't know if if I don't know what the kids stayed today, but I'm pretty sure that's not great. Anyway.
Talkin2Todd: It's not good. No.
Todd: That stadium was built with the assistance, with the great assistance of taxpayer money. They're not the first ones to... to get taxpayer money to to build stadiums.
Todd: What I want to know, though, is, and this is this is a story from Fortune magazine. and it it it It was originally air. It originally was. published in 2023.
Todd: They went back and did a study. and found out how much public money taxpayer money was spent on sports stadiums. In the United States between 1970...
Todd: In 2023. in the United States. Dwayne. How much taxpayer money? was spent.
Todd: Directly, not not with bonds and issues and and interests, but like like just the money that taxpayers committed to building stadiums. Four.
Todd: billionaires. to have their They're, uh... their teams play. And again, according to Fortune magazine from 2023.
Talkin2Todd: Do you want some irony?
Talkin2Todd: The picture over my shoulder. Is Soldier Field?
Todd: Yeah. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: that was built with taxpayer money.
Todd: We're going to get to that. That's the offshoot.
Talkin2Todd: Oh, God.
Todd: And by the way.
Talkin2Todd: since 1973
Todd: And. And while you're while you're thinking about this, I'm just going to throw out. This one doesn't include... Things that even started in 20 started earlier in 2023.
Todd: The Cleveland Guardians got $200 million dollars for renovating their baseball stadium. The Nashville City Council approved million. dollars to go along with $500 million dollars of state. bonds for the Titans.
Todd: Yep. The Jaguars, the Bills. There's a couple that didn't age well here. The Tampa Bay Rays unveiled plans. That didn't work.
Todd: Anyway, how much yeah how much money do you think that has been spent?
Talkin2Todd: 50 years.
Todd: Sorry, yeah, it's actually between 1970 and 2020. Sorry, exactly 50.
Talkin2Todd: 50 years.
Todd: Exactly 50 years. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Okay.
Todd: also Sorry, it's also between the United States and Canada.
Talkin2Todd: Oh, because you got... because you got Rogers, the Rogers, the SkyDome. that was built in there somewhere. Right.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. 70. Oh, 70 would count Royal Stadium.
Todd: So that's $1 .50.
Todd: I'm saying it was built earlier when they didn't go nuts with building stadiums.
Talkin2Todd: Okay, let's guess.
Talkin2Todd: This seems... Let's go. It's going to be low. But I'm going to. $45 billion? dollars
Todd: Okay, according to Fortune magazine, you overshot.
Talkin2Todd: Really? kids
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: Okay, so my first guess. was $25 billion. dollars
Todd: Low.
Talkin2Todd: Sorry?
Todd: Low.
Talkin2Todd: 25 is low and 45 is high.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Oh, so I was. I was in the ballpark.
Todd: Can I have 75 cents to pay Dwayne a dollar from taxpayer money?
Talkin2Todd: So somewhere between $25 and $45 billion, $35 billion. dollars Sure would.
Todd: You know what? You can't get a bell because it's your third number. Between 1970 and 2020, state and local governments spent $33 billion.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: billion on major league sports arenas across U .S. and Canada. Now.
Talkin2Todd: Six.
Todd: He...
Talkin2Todd: hundred million dollars a year on average.
Todd: Now here's what might be throwing you off a little bit, though.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: It has accelerated? How much money? So if $33 billion... was in those 50 years. How much money was committed in 2024?
Talkin2Todd: $20 billion?
Todd: You went over again, but $13 billion dollars in a single year.
Talkin2Todd: In a single year, yes, because construction costs.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: also Some of that other money was in Canadian.
Todd: Oh, well, yeah yeah. Oh. I see what you did there. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: See ya.
Todd: Yeah. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. yeah yeah
Todd: Another one. Uh... From 1970 to 1920. Taxpayer money accounted, on average... for what percentage of the total construction costs of the stadiums that they were that they contributed to.
Talkin2Todd: In 1920, $40 ,000.
Todd: Sorry. No, between 1970 and 2020, that $33 billion accounted for what percentage?
Talkin2Todd: Okay, because I'm answering the questions that you asked, and you said 1920.
Todd: Yep. Not what I meant. Yeah, that's. Alright. Yeah. Which percentage? How much percentage of construction costs?
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: Did that. 33 billion cover on average.
Talkin2Todd: 40 %?
Todd: You're a little low.
Talkin2Todd: Oh. 60 %?
Todd: 73%.
Talkin2Todd: Oh.
Todd: of all construction costs.
Talkin2Todd: So the rest was. The rest was interest.
Todd: No, no, no. 73 % of construction costs. That means the owners, the teams.
Talkin2Todd: Oh my God.
Todd: Only kick. kicked in 27 % on average to build their new stadiums. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: heart.
Todd: Yep. Hey, uh, okay.
Talkin2Todd: Our priorities are in such the right place. Oh my God.
Todd: Aren't they though?
Talkin2Todd: They are.
Todd: one more One more thing, and this one gets a little closer to home because you're sitting in front of a very nice picture. By the way, it's it's a great picture that you took of of Soldier. Soldier Field.
Todd: This is from Illinois Policy .org. from January 15th of this year. Uh... Real quick, the the bears are talking about breaking their lease and...
Todd: Moving. to anywhere else, anyone that will give them a money, that will give them money.
Talkin2Todd: They're open to suggestion. Yes.
Todd: Yes. including Including Indiana.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah, they could move to Hammond. They could move to Arlington Heights. there's a couple of There's a couple of proposals from the South Side that I don't think they're taking all that seriously, but there's people that are willing. Yeah.
Todd: So... Dwayne, when was when was Soldier Field renovated?
Talkin2Todd: about 20 years ago.
Todd: Yeah 2003.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: Yep. And they were going to pay off all of the tax. The bonds that they did that was going to be on hotel stays.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: but Uh... Then the pandemic came along and created some problems. So they're a little behind on repayment.
Talkin2Todd: Oh. They were behind before. You can't blame this on the pandemic.
Todd: That's what Illinois policy is in
Talkin2Todd: they kicked it They kicked it down the road.
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: well before the pandemic.
Todd: Yeah. So... So... Quick question. So the Bears want a brand new stadium, and they want the city and or the state to kick in $800 million, $900 million.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: The question I have for you, Duane, is... How much does the city of Chicago still owe? on soldier on the renovation On the bonds of renovation. of Soldier Field. from 2003.
Talkin2Todd: I want to say it's like $9 million. dollars And that might be low.
Todd: You're low.
Talkin2Todd: $20 million? dollars
Todd: 356. million dollars are still owed
Talkin2Todd: So here's the thing, though. The Bears paid. all of their share. The Bears paid it all.
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: Bears paid their share. The. Elders of the City of Chicago kicked this can down the road, and now they want the bears to pay more. And that's why everybody's dragging their feet around the city of Chicago about, oh, this $300 million, blah, blah. The bears did their part. Look, I'm a homer, and I know it. I will own that, but they did what their obligation was.
Talkin2Todd: And the fact that the people in Chicago that were managing that money. Can't. We've talked about this. They gave away the parking revenue. Do you know how much?
Talkin2Todd: Question for Todd.
Todd: Quick.
Talkin2Todd: Todd, guess a number.
Todd: Just real quick.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: sorry todd Sorry, Toddlers.
Talkin2Todd: Am I ramped up? Yes.
Todd: i did I didn't realize i just i just I just did this.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: My fault. I'm going to take a complete ownership of that. Please continue.
Talkin2Todd: Poked the bear, didn't ya? Yes you did. Yes.
Todd: The. The Indiana Bear?
Talkin2Todd: Yes, it does. Thank you.
Todd: Ha ha.
Talkin2Todd: The... Do you know how much the Bears pay, Todd? Do you know how much the Bears pay? each year. to Rent Soldier Field.
Todd: $7 million. dollars
Talkin2Todd: You're high.
Todd: According to IllinoisPolicy .org, the rent comes out to around $7 million per year.
Talkin2Todd: That's what they owe. through the end of the lease. It's a million dollars a year.
Todd: That's a good deal.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah, it's less.
Todd: It's a good deal.
Talkin2Todd: It's less than they pay three of their wide receivers.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. That $7 million dollars is what they would have to pay out to get out of their lease. Or they can just play it out at a million dollars a year.
Todd: m
Talkin2Todd: That's what they're paying. They're paying nothing. But their complaint is they don't get any of the parking revenue or the concession revenue or the Taylor Swift concert revenue or anything else.
Todd: Real quick, just according to IllinoisPolicy .org.
Talkin2Todd: actually?
Todd: Uh... The Bears get all game day revenue. inside the stadium. So now. They may not get anything from Taylor Swift.
Talkin2Todd: No, they don't
Todd: Because that's not a Bears thing. and potentially they may not get parking.
Talkin2Todd: They don't get parking.
Todd: but they get. They get everything that is sold inside the stadium. The city makes no money off of any of that. they They get... Zero dollars. Out of. Anything that gets sold.
Todd: Inside the stadium during Paris games.
Talkin2Todd: that's changed read That's changed recently.
Todd: So. They have $365 million dollars to pay off. They're getting a million dollars a year from the Bears. and they can't make any other money. any other way. during the Bears games.
Todd: So yeah, you better you better get Taylor in there to to do a couple of of of benefit concerts.
Talkin2Todd: X.
Talkin2Todd: Except it's the city of Chicago's parks department. So, I mean, they do have other revenue levers that they can pull. They've just chosen not to.
Todd: Oh, they should just take some of the parking money. Oh, never mind.
Talkin2Todd: It's over the way. Oh, that's right Anyway. Oh, boy. i I'm sure the segment has been... wildly popular with our listeners.
Todd: Yes. On the other hand, I will so say this. Thank goodness you and I both don't have to pay taxes. in Chicago to help pay off the football stadium. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: What are the odds of me putting that picture over my shoulder for this show? My Lord. Oh. Should we do some idiots? but after Should we follow that with some idiots?
Talkin2Todd: My lord.
Todd: Sure. Let's do that.
Talkin2Todd: sticking Sticking with football.
Todd: Cluck. Claude summary. Dwayne loses his mind and goes off on a Todd -esque rant. Okay.
Todd: Please.
Talkin2Todd: sticking Sticking with football. Did you see what happened in Happy Valley this week, Todd?
Todd: The one thing I know about, I don't want to cover and I don't think it is. So no, I i haven't seen anything.
Talkin2Todd: Penn State Athletics opens the Paterno Family Football Experience Room.
Talkin2Todd: A permanent museum. experience showcases more than a century of Penn State football. history. Titled... The Paterno Family Football Experience Room.
Talkin2Todd: I'm just going to say. don't check out the showers.
Todd: I... Yeah, I was going to say, please please tell me that there isn't the Sandusky sleepover room.
Talkin2Todd: There is not.
Todd: Okay.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: there's There's trophies, there's awards, there's All -American recognitions, there's other individual honors. Beaver Stadium and fan traditions, the yeah presentation of head coach Matt Campbell and the current direction of the program.
Talkin2Todd: which I think they're hoping is up. But. Anyway. Yes. the there's There's a... There's a Coach Paterno desk exhibit and historical display. There's actually a picture of Coach Paterno looking the other way.
Todd: yeah
Talkin2Todd: The jokes never get old.
Todd: Yeah, they're still cringy. It's just
Talkin2Todd: My Idiot This Week. Penn State. in the football family experience room. What'd you bring?
Todd: We're going to stay football adjacent.
Talkin2Todd: Excellent.
Todd: so So... So... Under Idiots, we have covered we've covered Sanders. More than. More than once.
Talkin2Todd: To the point where at one point we considered renaming this segment after him.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: Yeah. And then... But this isn't about Dion. This isn't that Sanders. So, Dwayne, when you think about the other Sanders, who do you think about?
Talkin2Todd: Oh.
Todd: With.
Talkin2Todd: Colonel?
Todd: no within with within the prime within the prime family who who else is Who else in the Prime family do you do you think of?
Talkin2Todd: Colonel Sanders?
Talkin2Todd: Oh. you must You must be thinking about Shadur Sanders, the quarter, the... uh klippler clipboard holder in Cleveland.
Todd: Yep. yep But that's not about him either. Do you know what the third string Sanders is?
Talkin2Todd: And it's not kernel.
Todd: No.
Talkin2Todd: Adam?
Todd: Do you remember Shiloh? Shiloh Sanders. he played He played at Colorado.
Talkin2Todd: When I was... when I was young.
Todd: Jeez. He played at Colorado. I think he got drafted by Tampa Bay. and and then got cut.
Todd: And he's out of football right now.
Talkin2Todd: Okay?
Todd: But...
Todd: He did pick up some things from his dad. I will say that So... He's in the middle of bankruptcy procedure bankruptcy procedure right now, going to court this week. talking about he's filed for bankruptcy.
Todd: And part of the reason is. is because he has an $11 million dollars judgment against him. And he is trying to get it discharged. Now. how could he have an 11 million dollar uh Judgment against him. Well, in 2015,
Todd: when he was at a i it was at a school in Texas. A security guard tried to confiscate his phone from him. And.
Todd: According to a civil trial, Shiloh beat the living crap out of the security guard. And. Uh,
Todd: did not give up his phone. The security guard. uh faced significant amount of legal bills Now, that took place in 2015. Eventually, the security guard sued Shiloh and Dion because Shiloh was a minor at the time.
Todd: And, uh... Dion. was removed from that because... It turns out he. It doesn't have anything to do with this. It went to trial in 2022.
Todd: And Shiloh. and his legal team didn't show up for the trial. which resulted in... Default. judgment. $11 .89 million. dollars
Todd: So... Shiloh now would like to get that discharged, so he has filed for... Bankruptcy The person who owe who is owed the money...
Todd: is, and his lawyers are claiming, That. yeah It shouldn't be discharged through bankruptcy. because it was a willful... and malicious act of violence, which is...
Todd: I'm trying to find the exact one. Basically, the bankruptcy code says you can't actually knowingly go out. Create massive, like... hurt somebody and then and then claim bankruptcy the bankruptcy court can exclude that from your You can file for bankruptcy, but that doesn't get discharged.
Todd: Day one of the trial hasn't gone so good. Hasn't gone so good for Shiloh. According to people who were called to this Because now...
Todd: It's not about the bankruptcy. It's about, was this a willful act? Right. The bankruptcy judge has to determine whether this judgment was due to a willful act. So now he's having to go back and look at all the evidence. So they're having to rehear all of this. uh here's what here's what people were giving evidence of Shiloh hit him with an elbow in his throat, and that's when he hit him with a...
Todd: With Two Piece, which is two punches. uh said another one he punched him right in the face it was unprovoked uh another one he caught an elbow he caught he his elbow caught john in the chest He was aggressive and volatile.
Todd: And in. Video testimony, the principal of the school. Uh...
Todd: After this happened... After there was an assault in the school, the school actually brought in an outside attorney. Need to investigate. Silo said, I was provoked. Your security guard provoked me. Security guard said I just tried to take his phone away.
Todd: Outside people came in. Investigated it. Clear the security guard.
Todd: The principal at the time said, Uh... He ran into Shiloh minutes after it. And he said, The principal says about Shiloh, he was very adamant about not giving up that phone. In fact, he still had the phone in his hand. The way he was carrying himself, I thought there'd be another confrontation that would have been Shiloh Sanders against myself.
Todd: The attorney said. Why did you think that? He was so angry. That was Monday of the trial. Anyway. Who knows if he's going to testify or not. But apparently Shiloh as a teenager.
Todd: Assaulted a man. then didn't show up to court and is now trying to get it all discharged by via bankruptcy and It's not going very well. I think you could make an argument that he has not handled any of this. at all.
Todd: uh good but anyway Good luck. Mr. Sanders? I don't, I don't know. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: He was a high schooler?
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: Because you said. principal I'm like. Oh, he was he was a freshman in college or a sophomore in college. And and then you said and and then you said principal. And I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa. Like he's a minor. OK, well, yeah, he's under he's underage, but he could still be in in college and he's going to college in Texas. and No, no, no, no.
Talkin2Todd: high schooler.
Todd: 15 years old.
Talkin2Todd: And so now they're testifying about things that happened 11 years ago.
Todd: Yes, although... Evidence that was entered into the case due to the default judgment is being used against him because he didn't. He didn't appear.
Talkin2Todd: Because he didn't he didn't he didn't show up.
Todd: Yeah. Yes. And I found the phrase. Sorry. Uh, Because the the plaintiffs are the people who are saying it can't be discharged. The debt stems from a, quote, willful and malicious injury.
Todd: which is a specific in bankruptcy law. So they are trying to prove that this was willful and malicious.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: Therefore, he can't declare bankruptcy and he still owes. The guy. $11 .89 million dollars from a trial he didn't show up. So.
Todd: Not great. I don't.
Talkin2Todd: Wow.
Todd: not Not great for the... for the entire Sanders. family. I don't think. Also, He did drop his latest rap album the day before the trial.
Talkin2Todd: I kind of wonder if maybe he should be. but I... not Not. You know, not for me to say. I'm just over here on the sidelines. Holding on to my phone.
Todd: Anyway, there you go. Primetime.
Talkin2Todd: wow
Todd: Well. Third string primetime, but... There you go. Hey, did you you have a travel story.
Talkin2Todd: yeah So. Did we talk about? Go on. that we went to the state fair.
Todd: don't believe so.
Talkin2Todd: Okay, so Lucas and Hannah came home. And we went to the state fair a couple of weeks ago. And so I took pictures when I was at the state fair.
Todd: Oh, you did talk about that that was going to happen.
Talkin2Todd: and i
Todd: Yes.
Talkin2Todd: It was going, yes. Okay.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: So while we were at the state fair, I am. going to do. you know what I know folks love around here. Send Todd a picture.
Talkin2Todd: things I saw at the State Fair.
Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: that i that I thought Todd would appreciate.
Todd: Let's see. Uh... Oh, my goodness. I was looking at the sign. Wait, that's sun tea.
Talkin2Todd: Yes it is.
Todd: There's just big jars of sun tea with massive labels saying sun tea. Run away. run Do not. Oh, my goodness.
Talkin2Todd: four big huge jugs of sun tea and amy's like Hey, I'm like, oh, I need a picture of that.
Todd: Might as well just label those things Petri dish. That's really...
Talkin2Todd: Whatever you do. Don't drink the sun tea.
Talkin2Todd: That was really... i That there was really, that there was frankly the best picture that I took of the and of everything that we saw at the fair. It was an abbreviated fair day. Cause it. was I don't know if it was the...
Talkin2Todd: highest attendance day of the 10 days, but man, it sure felt like it. We lasted four and a half hours and... opted out we saw We saw the Clydesdales.
Talkin2Todd: See? Only animal we saw. It's the only animal barn that we, we didn't go to the sheep. Oh, we did. We went through we went through the the... we went through one of the barns but we didn't see the cows we didn't see the pigs We didn't see the the dairy cattle.
Talkin2Todd: we were We were light on animals. We were heavy on food. this trip, but we were light on animals.
Todd: Actually, that sounds like the perfect fair day. Heavy on food, light on animals.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. It's a city fair day is what it is.
Talkin2Todd: So that's what I had for travel stories. What did you bring there?
Todd: So i'm I'm bringing a travel story that's not my own. I'm bringing one from Lisa.
Talkin2Todd: Ew.
Todd: Due to reasons, she had to make a... She made a quick trip to London. in the last week.
Talkin2Todd: Saw that.
Todd: Yeah. She let me know. Hey! Just saw Waymo! So wait. The safety driver was in it.
Talkin2Todd: In London?
Todd: Yes, they're they're they're they're doing the test driving. of They're getting ready to launch Waymo in London. So, hey, London, get used to cars just parked in the middle of the road for no apparent reason. And, you know, it'd be great is I'm thinking like.
Todd: I'm thinking like... uh, Like. Right around Piccadilly Circus. Maybe just order a bunch of... It's not a full loop, but you could basically just order a... bunch of Waymos to all show up at the same time. And here's the thing.
Todd: on Friday or Saturday night, that wouldn't actually make the traffic much worse right there. So... Yeah, Waymo, coming to London.
Talkin2Todd: Question?
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: What side was the steering wheel on?
Todd: Did not ask.
Talkin2Todd: Inquiring minds wanna know.
Todd: Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: So first question that popped on my mind, huh? I wonder where the steering wheel was. Okay.
Talkin2Todd: don't know why i don't know why that's where i went but Yeah.
Todd: Who? My first thought was, who's going to close their doors?
Talkin2Todd: He did.
Talkin2Todd: somebody from Phoenix. Man, that's going to cost.
Todd: Yeah. It's $23. I don't know. That doesn't seem like a lot of money, but... You know, 23 bucks is 23 bucks.
Talkin2Todd: I'll be back in two days. Where are you going? I'm going to go close the door.
Todd: here's thing Here's the thing. in London. If a Waymo is going to be sitting by the side of the road and their door is propped open, I can tell you exactly who's going to be closing their door. It's going to be a London Black cabbie.
Todd: Although when they they're going to use the cab. to shut the door.
Talkin2Todd: To close the door, yes.
Todd: Now, it may go in the opposite direction the door is supposed to go, but...
Talkin2Todd: So with Lisa gone, what have you been watching?
Todd: Well, so here's here's the duality. Lisa's gone. What am I watching?
Talkin2Todd: Yes.
Todd: You know, I never got around to finishing Andor.
Talkin2Todd: Anything I want.
Talkin2Todd: Okay. Yeah.
Todd: I think I was on episode 11 of season one. All right. I'll watch episode 12 and the first one of season two. I'm like. got to get through this at some point.
Todd: Because I'm this far in. And I hear it's amazing. And yet, every time I have the option to watch it, I'm like. Bleh! or not. but I'm working on it. While I was watching...
Talkin2Todd: Yeah. Yeah.
Todd: and or
Talkin2Todd: All right. of All the bureaucracy.
Todd: Yep.
Talkin2Todd: Half the Jedis.
Todd: Sweet. That's great. None of the blasters. Is this about paperwork? Oh my goodness. Please tell me there's something about trade routes.
Todd: Are they levying tariffs? Oh, it all comes full circle now. Okay. Sorry. While I was watching Andor.
Todd: Uh, Lisa, being in London, had some extra time on her hands, so she got to go watch a limited run of Jesus Christ Superstar. Highly recommend.
Talkin2Todd: Good to hear. Fantastic.
Todd: And. also watched The Hunger Games which is a stage show. uh it's it's it's i said is it a musical or is it a play she's like it's a play with music Okay.
Talkin2Todd: That's... Okay.
Todd: It's a play that has music But it is not a musical.
Talkin2Todd: Okay. Is that like Ann Juliet?
Todd: Haven't seen that, so unclear.
Talkin2Todd: You haven't seen Anjul yet?
Todd: No.
Talkin2Todd: Really? Okay.
Todd: No.
Talkin2Todd: Now if it was a movie I'd believe that you hadn't seen
Todd: Yeah. Uh, Lisa's Lisa's.
Talkin2Todd: You know? Maybe if you hadn't gone to see Book of Mormon 35 times, you could have picked up some of these other shows.
Todd: but There's other shows?
Talkin2Todd: I know what I like, damn it.
Todd: Hey, do you wanna?
Talkin2Todd: Leave me alone.
Todd: do you want to go Do you want to go see something new? Nah, I just want to laugh. Every time. All right. So... they They built a special theater just for the Hunger Games out at Canary Wharf. And Lisa was in a section of seats that once the show started, you couldn't leave.
Todd: because the stage kind of went around. the entire thing and the seats rotated depending on what was going on. At intermission, she's like, eh.
Todd: Peace. it not that great. Like, eh. if you were here, you'd probably want to leave. I'm like, well. Okay. how was the How was the second half? The second half.
Todd: Yeah. That was the actual Hunger Games. Oh, you mean when all the kids kill each other? Yes. That. live on stage. Yes.
Todd: That. How was that? I literally thought about leaving even though I was told not to. Apparently, making making a play.
Todd: about a book where kids kill each other and then they put 24 kids on stage. And then they kill each other. Sorry. Spoilers
Talkin2Todd: That movie came out like 18 years ago. if you haven't If you need a spoiler on The Hunger Games at this point.
Todd: Just throwing that out. Yeah. Apparently it was. Actually, and and according to Lisa, also you. in order to understand what the heck was going on. It wasn't enough to see the movie. You have to have read the books because there was stuff that they were doing in there that wasn't in the movies, that was in the books. And without knowing that, you'd be like, I don't even know what's going on. So anyway, apparently.
Todd: Uh. Lisa would love to go see Jesus Christ Superstar again and is trying to forget that she ever saw Hunger Games. How about you? What have you guys watched?
Talkin2Todd: Uh... We've watched, well, The Mandalorian and Grogu. Came out on Disney Plus yesterday. So we...
Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: We watched that last night. We saw it in IMAX. when we were in Seattle. This was a...
Todd: Oh, okay.
Talkin2Todd: This was a much smaller screen. in our living room.
Todd: here's Here's the difference. You just needed to move your chair closer. Like if you just... If you get close enough to the screen.
Talkin2Todd: Yep.
Todd: It would feel like it's IMAX.
Talkin2Todd: It feels. Yes, that's
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Yep. And then you remember how I said... I was watching
Todd: Big Bang Theory.
Talkin2Todd: I watched. I watched it. all of the big bang theory and then i watched all of young sheldon
Todd: Then Young Sheldon. Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: And then I couldn't watch Georgie and Mandy's first marriage. because it wasn't available in my region.
Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: It's now available in my region, so I'm... I'm picking that up because at this point I feel obligated. to finish. here. thing. Oh. And...
Talkin2Todd: At the same time... I'm watching the other Big Bang Theory spinoff. which is Stuart fails to save the universe. which is on each
Todd: On HBO Max.
Talkin2Todd: on HBO Max.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: Have you watched? Any of this?
Todd: No. I have not.
Talkin2Todd: yeah
Talkin2Todd: If you're not invested in these characters to begin with, there's probably not much here for you.
Talkin2Todd: But. the The Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Show. is pretty darn funny. But it's funny because of all of the in jokes and callbacks.
Talkin2Todd: and cameo appearances. from people from the other series.
Todd: So what you're saying is it's the perfect Marvel Cinematic Universe TV show, which is you will only understand this TV show if you've watched the other 750 hours of everything that came before it.
Todd: Otherwise, none of this will make sense.
Talkin2Todd: Other. Otherwise, yes, pretty much. Yeah.
Todd: Sweet.
Talkin2Todd: Yep. Fantastic.
Todd: Homework.
Talkin2Todd: Eh.
Todd: Love it.
Talkin2Todd: So that's going on. And then the the thing that I learned this week.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: I can't believe I'm going to start out by asking you this question. but So, Todd, I'm going to ask you whether or not you've seen a movie. Always goes well.
Todd: should we Should we start with no? And then we'll just assume the answer is no. But please.
Talkin2Todd: But you can tell me like 12 things about the movie.
Todd: Oh, yeah, yeah i can I can be like, oh, man, this scene is amazing.
Talkin2Todd: even though you haven't seen it. Yeah.
Todd: And the cinematography, I thought the lens flares were overdone.
Talkin2Todd: Yeah.
Todd: So you've seen it? Oh, no, I haven't seen that.
Talkin2Todd: Oh no. Con Air.
Todd: Oh, heck yes. Yeah, of course.
Talkin2Todd: Okay.
Todd: Come on. hi How can you not?
Talkin2Todd: Heck yeah, of course you've seen, you haven't. You haven't seen Bull Durham.
Todd: Nope. Nope.
Talkin2Todd: But Con Air, heck yeah, of course. Okay.
Todd: once once you've seen Once you've seen The Rock, you have to see Con Air.
Talkin2Todd: Okay.
Talkin2Todd: That's fair. Yas. Yes. so So anyway, the thing that I learned. today, actually, about Con Air.
Todd: Yeah.
Talkin2Todd: The guy that directed Con Air?
Talkin2Todd: Todd. Do you know what he directed? before he directed Con Air.
Todd: Uh... The Italian bank job? I'm sorry. bank job and then then you gotta It's part of the trilogy of going to jail.
Talkin2Todd: No.
Todd: No.
Talkin2Todd: Now, do you want an audio hint?
Todd: Sure.
Todd: Okay, one, that's why we don't have the construction theme on the soundboard because you had to get rid of it to put that in. Two... is that a hint or did I just get Rick rolled?
Talkin2Todd: Actually...
Todd: Or both?
Talkin2Todd: both Both things can be... Both things can be true at the same time.
Todd: Okay.
Todd: Excellent. i'm I'm assuming that before they gave him Con Air, he... he directed a Rick Astley music video.
Talkin2Todd: Yep. Never. He directed the Rick Astley, never going to give you up. music video. And I'm like, How random is that?
Talkin2Todd: and If I had had taught how to know this week. It would have been that segment.
Talkin2Todd: That's what I learned. What did you learn this week?
Todd: So this weekend, I needed to go out for a a long run to get ready for a half coming up. And there is, in Salt Lake City, there is a trail that goes along the Jordan River.
Todd: and i've never i've never been on it and i'm like you know what i'm getting tired of running around the neighborhood i'll go down i'll run this trail i've when we lived here before never went down on it never went down to the river trail.
Todd: Never. Anyway. So I'm like, you know what? Sunday. Lisa's gone. i'll just I'll just go over, and I need to get in. 11. 12 miles or something, this will be a nice place. So anyway, run along. Hey, look, there's the river. That's really nice. And wow, those are amazingly large power lines. and They're buzzing. uh i'm gonna run faster as i'm underneath them anyway what what i found out though was uh i was trying to figure out Hey, it's something I get to about the halfway point. you know I'm going to need to top up my water.
Todd: maybe use restroom something. I don't know. And I wasn't really sure. So I'm just like, I'll just keep running and I'm sure there's something along here. And I get to, I get to about the halfway point. And there's a sign that says water this way, restrooms this way. I'm like, oh, OK, that's cool. And then I look over.
Todd: And it's it's a public golf facility that is owned by the city. So there's a driving range and there's mini golf and there's a full golf course. There's a pro shop.
Todd: And, but... I'm like, but the but the signs say Water. Restrooms. snack bar. It's a public golf course. So so here I am while everybody's in the driving range.
Todd: I actually paused the watch and at least didn't didn't continue to run next to them. What I will tell you, though, is is that when I went into the clubhouse... To use the facilities, everybody was dressed very nicely, and I'm in my running clothes and sweating.
Todd: And. What went through my head was one of these things is not like the other. Hey, do you have a collared shirt on? Look, I've just got shorts and a like a running top, man. like you're lucky You're lucky that that's all I've got. So what did I learn? the Mulligans Golf Recreation Center. it It puts the public. in public golf course.
Talkin2Todd: Well. If you remember the story from a couple of weeks ago... At my golf course? Mm -hmm. They put the pubic in public golf course.
Talkin2Todd: because when you started writing this in the rundown that's what i thought you wrote
Todd: And then you started laughing.
Talkin2Todd: uh -huh

Todd: I think you need to get out of just providing them fish and and teach them how to fish. And also have some fun along the way by doing this. You said you you couldn't have a person come out because of the of the... of the service charged for them to drive all the way out and and show up.
Todd: I think what you should have done is you should have told them, well, guys. Here's the thing. Look, it's like $300 if they come out and visit. However, if you unplug that, put it in your car, drive it down, drop -off service.
Todd: is much cheaper. So just just unplug it, take it down, drop it off. And and then. And then I'm sure they'll fix it. mostly for the fact of when the person gets then they drop it off what is this oh it's drop off service We don't. We don't.
