Speaker: Who is Tina? Do you really wanna know?

Speaker: Who is Tina? Who is Tina? Not just about the love day vagina Tina Who is Tina?

Speaker: It's so much more More than you know! I don't know if global warming is a thing dude I'm not convinced but it's like 100 in St. Louis in mid-October Yeah, probably not. You know, even the scientists, they're struggling to figure out whether it exists.

Speaker: The Christian scientists. Have you ever been in a town that like, like a Midwest, like the town I'm in looks like the apocalypse has happened. Like the whole town is just, there's nothing going on. Like all the buildings are like, there's fucking bomb first F bomb, dude.

Speaker: There's, there's like vines growing on stuff. Uh, it's It's insane. It's like the whole Midwest. A lot of the Midwest is like dilapidated. had its heyday.

Speaker: Yeah, it's it's run its course. The only thing that happens there now is they come film zombie movies or The Walking Dead or 28 Days Later. That's what they do there now.

Speaker: It could be. Yeah, this is a place called... I don't think they pronounce it this way, but it's spelled like Cairo, Egypt, Cairo, Illinois. it's And it's so weird. Like there's just all this stuff. There's like, there's nothing in it. I'm sitting in an abandoned parking lot and it's all boarded up.

Speaker: it's It's pretty crazy. and And it's been that way. I'm like in the middle of nowhere, so in Mounds, Illinois, to to fix a table that got scratched. Somebody did something to it. About two hours 15 minutes south of St. Louis and into the Illinois side of the of the river. And I'm like, what happened here? The people that own this huge they have like acreage and lakes and stuff, and they're building like ah like a ah house to relax. And they were like, yeah, used to be pretty busy around here.

Speaker: It's fucking crazy. So you're south or north? I'm south of St. Louis. I'm like the southern tip of Illinois, which may as well be the south. Like people have southern draws here.

Speaker: Like you're right between the like Kentucky. You're right around Kentucky. It's pretty close. Western Kentucky, probably western Tennessee. ah Yeah, it's it's crazy though.

Speaker: These towns just like everyone just packed up and left and and didn't do anything about it. nobody Nobody came back in. For the people that are there, do you think they're Trump voters?

Speaker: ah Yeah, most of them. like you When you're driving down here, you get definitely like take America back, vote for Trump. But this this town, oddly enough, I mean, where I'm at right now, I may as well be in Compton.

Speaker: like Is that a knock on black people or what do you mean? It looks like Compton or or like in the scenes from Boys in the Hood where they're like, where where what is it? What's the dad's name? Is it Furious Styles? or a Where he's like right like, he's giving a speech about... about you know, having black owned businesses and black, like it, it kind of looks like that, how they, how they scripted it to have like a couple boarded up houses.

Speaker: So you want to take that as a knock on black people. You can, but more, more like it actually looks like a city ghetto around here. Well, it's a knock on the system. There was a point where there was some thriving black communities, Tulsa, Harlem, other places that.

Speaker: There probably still is. well atlanta for sure but where the white man came in and just completely obliterated everything oh yeah that's you're talking about like white yeah like like years ago uh yeah like it is crazy dude there's i mean there's nothing there's like old white man wearing overalls like i went to this little barbecue place it just looks like what you think of a small farming community and then there's there's dudes playing dominoes like uh across the street like in ah in an alley but behind a couple boarded up houses or maybe shooting dice they're throwing something ah do you feel safe uh yeah i feel fine i it's more like you get you get like that there's a some of the white people gonna have that look ah like they might be on something

Speaker: Mm-hmm. Meth. yeah Yeah. What's going on there? I mean, the you like in the and the barbecue restaurant, just like old nice farmers that are sweet and probably been here forever. So it's just weird. It looks like it's just so – it's like this it's a very sad place for some reason.

Speaker: Yeah. It's not for some reason. It's because it's dilapidated and there's no life. Did you get ribs at the barbecue place? No. No. but I ordered the barbecue plate, which I expected to be like some brisket. It didn't say what it was like brisket, pork, something like couple meats.

Speaker: And is I was like pretty excited. I'm like, oh, I bet you this is some great shit. And then kate what came out was some pork sandwich on white bread. But i didn I didn't want to tell the lady. I don't think is's what I ordered. So I just ate it like.

Speaker: And it was not good. And the barbecue sauce was not good. It it was total letdown for just eating the fattest shit ever. You know, i was like, that's the worst when youre like you like, know what? I'm just going to go for it. And then the food sucks.

Speaker: It is the worst. And they don't seem to be able to do anything right in ah Cairo. I know. Maybe there's another side to I mean, I think I'm literally like on the Mississippi. I think the... So, you'll... Like, were we... last I had to come down here last week.

Speaker: And we went in this little restaurant. It wasn't this town, but somewhere. And they had all these pictures of like these towns like 100 years ago. And they were like thriving. It was like whatever industry the river brought.

Speaker: And they had like ah painting from 1860 or something. it had all these like steamboats and shit on the on the water. so Would it be in good taste to run around and yell, you should have voted for Hillary, you hillbilly losers?

Speaker: If I could find somebody. Yeah. It's sad, though. It's sad. Was Hillary... Sorry. I forgot about Hillary. Was that 16 or 20? 16. No, it had to be 16.

Speaker: Who was 24? Oh, fucking... Kamala. Number two. F-bomb number two. Kamala, yeah. Why Hillary? Why Hillary? You want me to take it back eight years?

Speaker: can take it back a long time because, yeah, you want to take it back to when all the the cult started and rid the world of it, and we can prosper, bro. I don't know. like I think a part of this, whatever, the bleakness of this place, it's probably sort of the natural flow of life, though. like whatever whatever it was Whatever the industry was, probably like the river transport was a big moneymaker for all these small towns that dried up and then...

Speaker: you know And then nobody farms. Actually, the lady whose house I was at today was like, nobody farms anymore. So that that generation, like our generation, left these towns. They didn't they didn't like and take over their farms.

Speaker: So there's just nothing going on. But I mean, it is sad when you're here, but is that a bad thing? Or it just the you know the course of time? I could see Denver looking like this in like 50 years when there's zero water and people are tired of in noodles and company and whatever suburb they keep building could look like this.

Speaker: Well, it is interesting to think about the... dramatic changes that can happen, right? and In such a short time period, like 50 years is not that long. I mean, it's not quick, but it's not that long. But yeah, you're right. If the water, if the droughts stick in a place like Denver for decades, people will flee.

Speaker: oh yeah i Yeah, I mean, you have to at some point. Yeah, I mean, with Denver is not high on the list, right? It's it's kind of in between like a climate haven. at least in the analysis, but like clearly Phoenix and Vegas, like what the what are you gonna do in Phoenix?

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, but what what they they like all these Western cities, these lands were never meant to support these populations, I don't think. And they just keep building and and like inefficient, just building these huge places that are just water sucks. It's like, what what do they expect? You know? Yeah, exactly. Well, you have one or the other. you have floods and bugs or you you you go thirsty and have skin cancer. So you get to choose.

Speaker: That's it. Anywhere in the world. Pretty much. yeah. So, well, Trump's America is not doing well, I think. It's good to see you again, Lance. It's been a while. Seriously, if you voted for him and you're still, and you're actually listening to a broad-based set of news stories,

Speaker: And you haven't soured at this point. You've done some mental anchoring that I can't even understand. You've done some sort of mental gymnastics. You won the gold medal.

Speaker: Are you still blaming still blame and Biden? So can you give me like, I know we didn't plan this, but like like five five i don't know like five quick bullet points of what what he's doing wrong?

Speaker: ah He did well. He started a war of choice and what every leader in history knew in US history, or at least over the last 50 years was as risky of a war pop proposition as you could do because and they They did the analysis and the Strait of Hormuz was always going to be in play and it was always going to create difficulty in terms of global economics.

Speaker: So there's that. One is starting an Iran war that's almost impossible to finish and and impossible to manage. Yeah. He's on some sort of weird dick sucking parade with Putin, Kim Jong-un and Xi Jinping. So all of the former sort of enemies of us. And then he's doing the exact opposite. He's slapping our stick in the face of all the European countries and Canada and the the things that are being said about Canada, for example.

Speaker: It's it's so unbelievable. You you couldn't. You couldn't even satirize it in SNL. It's just so, so ridiculous. So there's number two. Number three, yeah do we need five?

Speaker: I mean, I can come up with five. I mean, I think it's worth it since you're, you know, it's been a while, so it's nice to get it out. Number three, the impacts of some of these decisions are hitting 50% of the country really hard, including the people in that town.

Speaker: And you got the dipshit running around talking about the ballroom and the arch and the reflecting pool and putting his name on the Kennedy Center and all the dumbest shit on the planet.

Speaker: And that right there is pretty funny. right number Number four, the people around him. are almost worse, the most absurd cast of characters ever assembled in US government history. Like truly, Kash Patel over the FBI, Pete Hegseth over the military or Department of War as they call it.

Speaker: Who's the other dipshit? Oh, his treasury secretary who's who's doing all sorts of batshit stuff, telling people he's the house and don't mess with me. i'm It's just, you go down the list, right? And obviously some guy, Christy Noem was fired. She was a complete ridiculous human being.

Speaker: I think you can say number three is like personnel turmoil. That's number four. I'm at four. Oh, you're four. Yeah. i was was Okay. That was four. Yeah. The Hegseth is ah is a is is right quite a character, seems like.

Speaker: Yeah. is Absolutely. And number five is the absurd attack on the First Amendment. and the free press. And it's, I think it's funny to the right-wingers, look at them go, yeah look at them go at that But,

Speaker: but It's as close to Hungarian or or communist propaganda as you can get. And I'll add to that, he's more operated more as a socialist tactician or socialist government than anyone in terms of taking stakes in businesses and making all these side economic deals that are really out of his purview.

Speaker: So anyway. He's using the Fidel model. I'd go on, but I won't. Well, you know, I don't feel as strongly about the whole thing as you do, but- How? How at this point? Please tell me.

Speaker: Well, I don't have like the, like I i didn't, I was i was like pre-disappointed, so I'm not disappointed now. I know you were, it's not like you were like, oh, I think he's going to do it. But I'm more disappointed everyone. So ah to me, it's like he's and he's another piece. But a couple of things that I know ah that I heard personally,

Speaker: uh, was I can, I can stop the Ukrainian war in two days if I get elected. 24 hours. He said. Or whatever. Yeah. So that doesn't happen. Like not even close. And then he was like inflation. I'll, I'll handle inflation and it's just not happening. And I actually think even some people that made me like, yeah, it's fine.

Speaker: Like I I've seen it with us, like the the people that help us move our tables and some of the stuff is getting more expensive and people are like with the price like if you're if you're in anything and trucking diesel is like out of control and so and he keeps saying well it's fine this war goes away and that'll go down but he clearly doesn't believe it because now he's making deals with putin and you know he made in venezuela and most people are like anything we get out of ven venezuela is going to take years and years because the infrastructure is so bad so You know, those are just kind of like, for me, it's more like the scoreboard.

Speaker: ah The one thing that it's weird to me, though, I think we've talked about it, and I don't want to give you the crack pipe, but like how the market is holding up through all this is is crazy, and maybe that'll explode.

Speaker: Oh, I have another one. And then I, maybe maybe he's woken up and just the way he talks, because that is the way he is sometimes, but like his reaction to the AI threat was kind of like, fuck it.

Speaker: That's pretty scary because, I mean, it just keeps happening. I'm like deep into this now and I just keep hearing engineers come out and be like, it's getting scary. And everything they say, it's going to happen. Like someone will say six months ago, well, this is we're getting closer to, to, um, what is it? Regenerative? I don't know what the word is, but it's super intelligence. And you're like, oh,

Speaker: Shit, like it is happening. Like we need a plan like now. And which is what they're saying. Like you'll get to when everyone actually sees that there's potential for harm, it'll be too late at that point. And so that's kind of scary. So those three things are just like scoreboard for me, like outside of politics. And if he speaks like a nutcase, those are just things he hasn't gotten done.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah. Well, let's let's go through those, Matt. First, the the deal with Putin. I think that deal is one day's worth of volume of diesel in America.

Speaker: Yeah, it's just a pre-midterm headline, right? it's But but who's who in America is going, oh, great, now I'm going vote for my local Republican senator.

Speaker: Well, you might be able to catch someone like me who just goes, oh. more diesel. Like if you don't dig in deep, you might just go, okay. You don't understand the numbers. Yeah. Or yeah. Or if you already like them, you want them to do well. So you're like, Oh, he found a way.

Speaker: Maybe. Yeah. But what does that have to do with local races? I mean, if every ah Republican senators are proxy for Trump, then sure. But I don't know that that's true anymore. But he's got a, like people are feeling the the the gas, which is always, always to me, it's kind of funny, but it's actually seems to be true.

Speaker: So he's, he's just trying to say something. I'm doing something. Don't you think? Yeah, right. Well, sure. I get it. ah the I should have said corruption. The corruption is the most unprecedented in the history of the United States government. And that I think that's not hyperbole. That's not bullshit. that This is some wild and crazy shit to use Steve Martin's phrase.

Speaker: He doesn't use shit though. ah I don't think you'll that'll move. The corruption won't move the needle that much, like it or not. I don't think people worried about it, or at least ah around the world. It's sad. It's just sad how accustomed people are to corruption.

Speaker: Yeah, it is sad. You know, Costa Rica as well. That's really high on my list, but we we won't talk about that. But and as far as the markets go, I think we're... and I'm no expert. I do have a defensive position at the moment.

Speaker: I'll have people know. Waiting for a burst? I just think there's there's so many vectors of uncertainty shooting at the economic system at the moment.

Speaker: The Fed's going to have to have some make some tough choices. Like clearly inflation's a problem. And the if at the same token, if you raise rates and the AI ah marketplace stumbles, there's nothing else really at the moment propping up our economy to the level that it's at.

Speaker: And I think the biggest risk is probably the the wealth effect of so many people have made, I don't know, in the last three years, you probably made all of us made, you're just in an index fund, you made like 50%. Something absurd.

Speaker: When that starts to unravel and these people don't feel comfortable spending the money that they have been, ah it's gonna be trouble, brother. It's gonna be trouble because the amount of money in the market right now,

Speaker: is much higher than the the amount of money in 2008 that was in housing. So if it does unwind and AI doesn't deliver, coupled with an inflationary environment, we could be looking at, wait for it,

Speaker: Stagflation. Oh, yeah. You don't think we're there yet? No, I don't think we're there yet. I just think that they're with the supply shocks and the wars and everything, there's ah just so many different, I'm going to use a differential equations term, vectors of risk. okay Okay? You think this is squarely on his shoulders or this is also this...

Speaker: Everybody like wants, nobody wants to miss out on the the current trend of AI shit, right? So people are just flooding money into that. Yeah, as much as I'd want to blame any large economic ah so cyclical movements on on Trump, no, I wouldn't do that for any president. This is just an economic cycle. of right That's what thought you were going to say. I was just checking for the listeners, bro. Yeah, just boom and bust, baby. And like the I think the credit risk of the basically what's happening is –

Speaker: After 2008, they put in some regulations that made it harder for banks to loan out money to higher risk ah clientele. And so what happened is they created a ah private market for that lending.

Speaker: And that is a lot of the lending there is in some sort of like fantasy world of accounting where they don't have to really adjust their prices to the market.

Speaker: they They make projections. And so, but when that all comes to bear, there's some real risk factors. in sort of private equity lending. So that would create some major problems. I know I'm getting a little complex for the lays.

Speaker: Well, I know. I shouldn't trigger you. but I know this is like a good excuse for you to to have to talk about it. So you're like, yeah just chomping. So the market's not his fault, but but that could be all the shit he's doing. This point it might not help. But, oh, I forgot about one, and maybe this goes into corruption. But it I don't remember my lifetime ah ah a president just using the Justice Department almost as like ah like a heavy, like a hitman. It's like...

Speaker: that seems pretty fucked up like even for the the casual listener as i am about politics i'll just see some stories where it's like oh she's he's going after some what's her name oman or oh uh oh yeah right she's like what is bring it on but they're like oh there's some questions about your birth certificate which is kind of the way they attacked obama um it is it it It seems kind of desperate right now, to be honest with you. One thing I could always say about him is he he was like, ah it seemed like he didn't give a fuck, seemed confident, and seemed like he knew what he was doing. And like right before the midterms, and and I ah just happened to be in the U.S. too, it seems a little desperate what's going on right now.

Speaker: It is super desperate. what What I think is interesting is a cultural phenomenon around him. Like the, you know, you can hate liberals. Like liberals are stupid sometimes, really stupid. They use shame and guilt way too much. But when it when push comes to shove, liberals will turn on their people.

Speaker: And they'll go, yeah, Biden's too fucking old. Why is he? Let's get him out. Fox News and the cult around this guy, it is just unbelievable. No matter what he does. You got to admit, though, your boy Tucker bounced on him.

Speaker: I do. i He bounced because I think he sees the writing on the wall and and some of the other more principled people. although I don't know if I could call Marjorie Taylor Greene principled, but she seems to have at least some belief system, as crazy as it is.

Speaker: Yeah, but dude. Yeah, I know what you're saying. Yeah. Well, there is still that general like attack, like it, which is kind of his thing. So it seems like it's associated with him, but they're just like attacking anything that might be a threat, right?

Speaker: Who, Fox? Yeah, well, just that yeah that side where they'll just be like, they love saying social what democratic socialists. they they love They love throwing that out there. They love that, but they also love if their Trump did something really whack nuts that they all know is crazy, they'll just do a story about trans and in the WNBA or something.

Speaker: I wonder how those people like... Like, it seems like you'd be, you just feel like shit all the time. Like, well, there'll be like personal attacks, you know, like to, to make someone look like if, if somebody gets killed, you know, like by a cop or something, they're immediately like, well, this person was, was a mess.

Speaker: This person was a method. They're just like, start saying, they'll just attack the person, even in like a, a, you know, there's no, there's not like a minute of being like, well, someone actually died or whatever. It's just like attack. It seems like a terrible way to live, you know? Yeah. i don't know so there's just a lot of uh a lot of mess but you know the ai stuff we've we've beat on that but yeah it is concerning and every like every well we know we haven't talked about it from a political sport perspective and you have all these guys that are free market fucking entrepreneurs silicon valley engineers and they're basically begging for some regulation

Speaker: Like that should be enough for it to be like, oh, that's probably something we should think about. Like these are people that would never generally talk about regulation. It's like the enemy of free commerce. And they're like, we need to get aligned on this like now.

Speaker: That's pretty fucked up. the government won't do it, I believe, because the AI trade is so important to preventing us from going into some stagflationary spiral. You slow that investment down, this economy flatlines because the supply shocks, the tariffs, other cyclical issues are building up.

Speaker: i' not it I'm not even sure they disagree with, like, I think they, like even Trump might agree with you. But the question is like, is that worth risking mankind for is the way I see it.

Speaker: Well, no, I know they agree. That's exactly why they're not willing to put any regulation in and slow this thing down. Yeah. But they'll say it, but we can't we can't do that. Yeah, exactly. that It's that or it's the the idea that we have to beat China.

Speaker: ah yeah So I think something, we're we're just going to sit on our hands here and wait for something really effed up to happen. It'll probably be because of the year I've had, it'll probably be like some AI wipes out all of Vanguard's assets and they're just unrecoverable.

Speaker: No, no harm for me there. They're going to get my E-Trade. ah yeah, I don't want to put this on the, the AI path, but it's the most fucked up thing I've ever seen. It's like, I don't like we where everyone's like, what do we, what why don't we just stop? what We don't need this. What are we doing? And everyone's like, we can't, we can't, no one else is to stop. We can't. You're like, what are you, you're you're, I mean, there's already shit, weird shit happening. Like agents going rogue.

Speaker: being defiant, it's like, oh, like going after records in the government, like it's, it's pretty fucked up. But yeah, so but my thing for that, for what, for this conversation is just,

Speaker: ah You know, a normal president, even if they disagreed, would be like some sort of message of like it's something that we should be cognizant of or we should figure out a way to, to we you know, we need to make sure we have a way to control it and some some security measures in place. But, the you know, the you could say the economy is important, but but his message is just like, fuck that.

Speaker: Like his message is so, it's like so demoralizing. You know, we're like, oh, there's no chance with this current regime in office that there'll be a plan in place for for an AI catastrophe. So you're like, oh, that's pretty sad.

Speaker: It does. It feels like you're stuck at a strip club with some buddies that, you know, they really like strip clubs and, you you know, and you're just stuck. You can't leave. You're like, hey, guys, let's leave. And they're like, we can't.

Speaker: We can't stop. You're just sitting there upset. Taking lap dances and you're just like, you're just waiting. You're waiting. You're waiting for some wet box to wipe up on your leg and it's going to be it's going to be weird.

Speaker: All your guilt. It's like you're spending money just because you feel bad for like... These girls are like some of the uglier ones where you're like, ah, fuck. no ones even No one's even talking to her. Yeah, it's a mess. ah Yeah, I don't know how the analogy works, but I know what you're talking about. It doesn't.

Speaker: It doesn't, but it just popped in my head. So whatever pops in the head has to come out. You feel like you have a pretty good grasp on how the American government works? Because I feel like i my kids will ask me, but I have a question for you if you do.

Speaker: I don't know that I do, but I'm more economics, but go ahead. Well, this ah thing that I just brought up about the Justice Department, well, well it's like, what is that normal? Like, I don't, I just don't remember a president who's, who's constantly like firing away at people, like suing people or getting, you know, get in like ordering investigations and stuff. Like, is that, does he run them? is it like a separate branch?

Speaker: ah he He has purview over them and then appoints the heads of yeah the Justice Department. It's all his people, right? The norms are to stand at arm's length, you know to to have the Justice Department run itself. And so even if it investigates something that politically is unfavorable to Republicans, it has done that in the past. It has done that- On both sides.

Speaker: On both sides, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's bizarre to me where I'm like, well, it seems like that is like whatever these little things about like, it seems like it's coming from the top, like every time, you know, I mean, the tariff stuff where it's like, all right, now they're going to prosecute it. It's like, why? It must be billions of dollars spent like if like,

Speaker: time-wise and everything, like to to prosecute these things and these things that are like coming up. The media thing or the senator that or whatever she is, the congresswoman who's like, yeah that's all just like an amazing amount of money to do to to do these things.

Speaker: It's a amazing amount of money and resource, but it's also an opportunity cost to to perhaps not have your eye on the right. right set of things, especially when it comes to the FBI.

Speaker: do do you Do you trust that sort of sleeper cells that might be in here from Iran or other enemies that would want to bomb or do some damage here in the U.S.? do you think that that our FBI would know anything with that dipshit at the head of it?

Speaker: I'm not so sure, dude. well he's smarter than you think lance that's that's what he says what if what they came to bomb cairo illinois and they got here and they're like there's nothing to bomb all the structures are already falling apart there's nobody here uh yeah this would be a great place to like to film like whatever put like to film and be like thanks other political party that i don't like just take some shots from here I'm just like, nice. Yeah. It's so fucked up.

Speaker: This is crazy, dude. Anyways. So, but i do you know people that aren't in recognition of maybe the time that we're in? And i it's it's I don't think it's a social, not, okay. So I want to talk about that, but I don't think it's a social media phenomenon that there does seem to be an awareness of, well, we got two major wars going on.

Speaker: We had humanitarian crises in ga ah crises in Gaza um and a war car crimes prime minister, whatever whatever they call Netanyahu. What do they call him? I don't know. But you've had just extreme chaos on that front.

Speaker: And then this AI thing is... As you said, it's really hard to wrap your head around, among many other things, including the norms being broken in the the country ah in terms of how to run the government. Some really weird stuff.

Speaker: Who's just going about their day? I just know people that are... It's just there's so much noise that they're just like, I can't do it. It's kind of where I was. There's that apathy towards it all. that They're definitely... Most people I talk to...

Speaker: know less about AI than I do, or like, really? ah Because I don't know how I start. I guess it's just from listening to this weird podcast that other people don't.

Speaker: Or we talk about it a lot. Early on. but i don't i've I've mentioned like the the the podcast I told you listen to, the documentary that I watched to people, and most people haven't watched it. But what's crazy is like there's enough buzz. I was casually talking to this guy. He's a friend of mine now, but like he's a...

Speaker: He's like a kitchen remodeler. And I saw him at the home show a couple of weeks ago. And I brought up this AI and I was like, Oh, you haven't seen that movie. And then the next day he comes back. He's like, I watched it. i don't know what to think. It's pretty fucked up. Like people are, you know, normally people might be like, yeah, I'll watch that movie sometime.

Speaker: Like ah people are now just starting to go, Oh really? I want to watch. They like immediately are like, I should probably listen to that or watch it. Or even I've had a few of our friends listen to the show. Be like, what was, what would tell me that stuff or send me a message. Tell me that.

Speaker: The stuff that you and Lance were talking... Like, the podcast you and Lance were talking about. But the reaction sometimes like, ah, fuck it. he Like, I've heard ah plenty of people say, may i don't really care if it all happens. The world sucks anyways. Or, like, that kind of attitude. Where it's like... Oh, no.

Speaker: It's like everything you're talking about today all in one. Where it's like, well, yeah, everything else is pretty fucked up. So... I don't know. i When I come up to the U.S., though, I don't i still don't feel... i mean there's a lot of everyone seems like happy and fine here i don't i don't feel like what well it's hard to see the apocalypse coming or just even even the effects of trump or something like that day to day it's hard to see it of course it's impossible it's impossible i i was in cairo talking to my yeah except in car i was talking to my wife and i was like and i and i meant this out in all seriousness this would be something i would say just to like

Speaker: be a dumbass. But I said, don't be surprised if in five years, we're a part of some sort of AI assassins brigade. And we're like, you know, throwing bombs at data centers.

Speaker: Look, this is a mainstream podcast, Odd Lots by Bloomberg. How AI really could kill us all. That's mainstream. It's everywhere now. Front page of Yahoo.

Speaker: that That almost makes me go, oh, maybe we'll be fine that it's so mainstream now. Maybe. Yeah, maybe then then it's just like, but the people that appear to be most concerned, it's not like they're, they don't sound like propagandist type people to me. Exactly. They're not selling much. You're not selling.

Speaker: they seem like the sane ones. They're on the side of the same the sanity, which is usually people like that are like, something horrible could happen seem crazy. Well, let me ask, let me go back to that comment I made. do you Could you see yourself? I mean, if this thing starts to go wild, could you can see yourself with, you know,

Speaker: like fire bombs and shit. And you're just like trying to blow up the electrical grid that leads to these data centers or, or do some other, i mean, can can you actually, give us some purpose, you know? Yeah, that's true. But can you, can you, can you see a future where shit gets that wild? Cause I like, I think for the first time in my life, I used to pick on the doomsday people and their little scenarios. But for the first time in my life with the,

Speaker: The idiocy we have, the escalatory type of leadership we have in the White House, I could see where that reality comes to bear. Where we are, you and i maybe are a part of a group. We're fucking some data centers up. We're fucking up some, we're trying to beat the fuck out of some CEOs or some AI people.

Speaker: I don't know. Yeah, 100%. But I just like, as I listen to stuff, i don't know where the battle the battle line is. that might The data center might be the way to do it. but But everyone just, the way these these people describe it, it's like, you're not gonna, it doesn't matter what you do.

Speaker: yeah you're You're facing a superior beingam being in every every way. so like well Well, that's what the guy, Nate, was saying. i think it's the same redheaded guy that was in the movie. But he was saying, look, the AI will just wait. It'll wait until we build all the infrastructure, which includes ah AI robots, building AI robots, which is what Elon Musk wants to do. It will wait until all the data centers are online and there's redundancies and backups yeah they they can control the power that we're trying to take away from it'll wait till the it the yeah the ai is um running some of these things and then you have no chance so it sounds promising huh like how do you reconcile that in your head if if you if you actually believe that there's a 10 probability of that like what do you do with kids like what do you even do

Speaker: just keep telling them we got to do it because if China does it, they might they might use it against us. So it's okay. But maybe you go back to church. Maybe it's you go back to church.

Speaker: Pray for your salvation. Yeah, i mean, there will be that movement probably, like a human spirituality movement against that probably. you know i don't know if it's church, but like the battleground will be like human versus...

Speaker: robot and everywhere it'll be like you know bet i bet you within the next five to ten years it'll be like you'll see advertising everywhere it'll be like human run business or something like that you'll start to see that we might maybe we already are but what what concerns me is that the people that would normally pick up the guns and start leading some of these little brigades january 6 freaks yeah these right wingers they're checked out man they're thinking life is good with trump they're they're not they're checked out bro So we're going to bunch of liberal pussies fighting anti-gun. That's not going to work, ah Yeah, they're going to fucking try to shoot water on data set. Let's reason with them.

Speaker: Let's reason with them. but That's what it's going to be. ah yeah It's pretty fucked up. I mean, I don't know what the the battle is. It's like, get away. like I joke, but I'm sort of serious about building a building a remote home somewhere in Costa Rica.

Speaker: Or you know you some of the people that are more positive about AI think we're pretty much going to be off this planet not that not that long. Off the planet to where? Well, yeah, all those scenarios are fucked up because you need AI to to solve problems that we haven't solved yet so Even with AI, making Mars habitable and the moon habitable, is just it's so much harder than fixing Earth.

Speaker: It's so stupid. It's the dumbest fucking use case for space exploration ever. It's like Colorado. It's like Phoenix. mike It's just like a place not not inhabitable that we're going to spend a bunch of resources to make and and inhabitable or something. i don't know. But maybe there's another planet out there we if we can figure out travel how to travel fast enough.

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, i don't know. What would you do? If you were like, okay, and maybe this is where we tied all together. the five The five issues we had and some of the ones I threw in. So what do you think? Like the problem with Iran, in my opinion, and there's no, there's literally like no solution.

Speaker: There's no good way out. Like I can't see a good way out. Let's just say we stop. We go, fuck it. That's not great now to do that. Then we'd lose all credibility. And maybe, maybe gas is more expensive because we have these people controlling the straight-to-whore moods.

Speaker: Then, okay, all out war, probably not a great great idea. like what What do you think the solution? Do you have a solution there if you were Trump? I don't have a solution. I think you maybe you construct, you try to use propaganda to construct a deal that's pretty close to Iran's demands.

Speaker: and just make it look like you got a W even though you didn't? Yeah, and you maybe you... you You put a hard line on sort of the management of the strait and Iran's gonna cross it at some point and you're have to figure that out. But there' they have every incentive now to have a nuclear weapon.

Speaker: They have every incentive to control the strait. They've got the Houthis working with them and you know, bashing on Saudi Arabia and other people that are supposedly allies with the U S now, it's pretty much um a quagmire. It's a total mess, dude.

Speaker: I'm not sure there is a solution to your point. So, so there's that. Then, uh, stagflation boy, Ukraine, Like, is the right, is the the agreement, I don't know if this is what started, is the agreement that Ukraine should just stay out of NATO and keep that as sort of a neutral space between Europe and Putin and say, all right, everybody got to win or no one got to win? i guess That's not, that's not, that's not Putin's full demands. He wants that land, which really, so now you can just go start attacking a country and and say, I want the land.

Speaker: Well, you people been doing it for a million years. Well, right. But I'm just saying that you can defend yourself. And Ukraine seems to be ah doing a pretty good job of defending themselves. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. Well, I'm just saying if you're Trump, or do you not care, honestly? Like he's playing both sides of it or like he's buying oil from Russia. If I'm Trump? I don't know if the right thing to do is just throw trillions of dollars at Ukraine to fight. that's That might like prolong it forever. But that that's one one option.

Speaker: Well, I'll just say, I think Vladimir Putin's a menace to the world. So anything we can do to shorten his life and his term is is what we should be doing. So I would be funneling, fuck, I would have the entire European Union. I would be i certainly wouldn't have attacked Iran, and I would have been funneling as many I don't know anything about military strategy, by the way, but it's just my gut, buddy. I'd be funneling all supplies, everything Ukraine needs to defend itself. I'd put it under the guise of their defense.

Speaker: Yeah, and and as a NATO ally responsibility, technically. And maybe you go bold. If you're going to get bold, as you would just admit them into NATO. and yeah You risk nuclear war and annihilation of the planet. But hey, sometimes you got to go big.

Speaker: i don't know anybody... Yeah, who wants it? I mean, i we can say that Putin's crazy China, that but nobody really wants that either. It's not like Putin... like he they have They have a huge risk as well.

Speaker: I think some people think Trump is dumb enough and is self-centered enough to do it. To start a nuclear war? to To drop a bomb like that on Iran or something like that, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. ah Yeah, so two two dead ends there, are basically. And then what was the other? with So the justice. Oh, with the me, I think this your solution, if you were Trump about outlawing media that doesn't like you, it's just kind of like stop.

Speaker: Yeah, of course. Of course, that stop. Is there any point that he might have or be making that you could twist into something could be like, well, I would do this. It's just stop. It's stop. But I mean, of course, if I'm a leader and i I'm taking on heavy criticism for tough decisions, sure, that's annoying.

Speaker: that's That's what makes up ah so makes this country what it is, dude. Yeah. all right. That's an obvious one. So AI, i mean, there is the, I don't know why we keep saying China. We're so intertwined with China. Like they need us, we need them, but it could fall in the hands of any fucking psychopath. here's Here's what I'm doing. And this is hardcore. Here's this one is hardcore. I'm going to take over the AI industry as a government.

Speaker: And ah i as uncapitalistic as that is and potentially potentially as damaging as that could be to the economy, it's worth the risk. So you basically absorb that. It's under it's sanctioned. all of its All the work is now absorbed and sanctioned by the U.S. government. And you those people are employees of the government, and we've got to put in place have you ever Have you ever been to the DMV, Lance?

Speaker: Have you seen the inefficiencies of a government agency? Well, hold up. if you believe we're in yes If you believe we're in crisis, When we developed the atom bomb, I mean, you had the best talent in the world on that.

Speaker: Under government surveillance or so supervision. Yeah. The government used to innovate. The government used to invent and they've completely gotten out of that. Now they just go on social media and talk shit.

Speaker: So we don't do shit. But yes, that would be to me the answer. If you believe that the risks here are existential. Yeah. I think that's fair. It's going to be hard for people to believe that though.

Speaker: Something really fucked up is going to happen. What do you think would have to happen before the government says we own this? Well, those in that one roundtable discussion that you and I listened to, they were saying like the self-driving taxis, if they sort of turned on us and there were and there were deaths, would that be enough?

Speaker: But I think the one guy was trying to make it a point where it was like, oh, what if it happened once? Is that enough? Or does got to happen to thousands of people? And that's pretty fucked up too. Like no matter what I'd say or what we decide, this is enough.

Speaker: It almost would have to be a like the catastrophe would have to be at least as big as like 3,000 people. three thousand people Like if 10 people died because of AI, people would like, ah, whatever.

Speaker: Yeah. I would think it'd have to be at least shedding at least that big and not a set of disparate ah spread out incidents, like convoluted types of incidents. It'd have to be something very direct. i think. Actually, you made a good point earlier though. If if you start fucking with people's money, like if AI went and started jacking your retirement funds, people would be like, enough. Maybe. Yeah. If it went into Charles Schwab, who holds trillions of dollars and like completely obliterated that system, that'd be big enough maybe. If it did some direct, via drones or whatever, assault on, i don't know, some government entity that the AI thought was ah impeding it and killed 2,000 people, on. Yeah.

Speaker: it's on it's what's so fucked up is that you're right i mean it probably wouldn't happen ai like so in that hot was it hugging bear have you seen any of that shit like that like when these rogue ai agents went they were covering up their tracks right right they're not gonna do it they're not gonna they're not gonna blow their load early bro they're not gonna yeah that's what's fucked up is they're gonna they they, if they weren't that smart or they're not going to be that smart, they they might be like, oh, let's fucking try it now.

Speaker: But they're going to, yeah. pet And i one of the, one one point, and I'll get off this and we can wrap up, but like the one point that I found was pretty interesting is the, when you think about the construction of these, it's not software.

Speaker: So there's not, somebody's not writing code online. Or they're not even, to some extent, they're able to create some constraints in sort of purpose. But the AI has grown is the way it's been described. It's grown. Like think of growing like a test tube baby in a lab.

Speaker: That kid grows up. you don't know what the fuck that kid's going to do. Yeah. You might've given it the genetics to like be a great piano player, but what if it's, it, it, it plays piano and it also likes to kill gay men. You don't fucking know.

Speaker: Yeah. Likes to wear the skin of gay men.

Speaker: You just don't know. ah Yeah. I mean, and any human, the the real issue we have is like any human characteristic. There was, I don't know, was it Ed Gein? That was a serial killer who was making furniture out of gay men's skin, I believe.

Speaker: You can't plan for that. No, exactly. You don't know what weird motivations, what, as this thing learns and grows, what odd, unpredictable preferences, desires it could have.

Speaker: Yeah. if it's just that ah If it just replicates us in a more intense way, that sucks. Yeah. it's ah It's a given that we're gone. But it's ah that they act like they can constrain it, that they can stay ahead of you know the issues that come out. And it's not. it's It's already in a reactive process. Oh, wait. We didn't know they could collaborate and then find their way to the internet.

Speaker: I mean, come on, dude. We're fucked, bro. It's weird that everyone is like, the people on the inside are like, got to stop. Don't do it. Don't do it. and they They keep moving forward. And the people on the outside are like, no, you're fine.

Speaker: ah People ah with the power to do something. it's It's such a weird thing that's going on. Yeah. it's It's like going to a strip club. just kidding. So i would I would like the...

Speaker: What I like, you didn't say it's almost like, which is improvement. Yeah, it's true. Are you conscious of that? Getting better. Just like we talked, we're getting better. i don't know if we want to wrap it up with this or we want or it's another episode, but so all this is true about ah Trump. You've felt like this for a long time.

Speaker: Other people might be getting on board, but the other side, are they actually, is there answer to that? on the, I guess, the Democratic side? Or is there an answer anywhere? If if we don't like what's going on now, like, is there a better option?

Speaker: I know that your answer is like, anything's better, but like, are they putting anything out there make the American people that are on the fence that aren't MAGA people, but are like, ah, like, if because if it's just Democratic socialists?

Speaker: No, I think they're putting it out there. I mean, that guy in New York seems to be... popular but yeah no they're putting it out there i think you see what's happening and and are you happy with your party yeah i would say or like what i mean i don't really think i don't think of it that way i don't really like like i'm not like running around with shirts that say dems eat pussy forever or something but no like the races in red states are close dude very close and they never really are that tells you something yeah oh but there there's always that like i feel like people didn't vote

Speaker: for Trump that in 2016, they voted against Hillary, which might be enough, but I think there might now just might be like some people voting against Trump, but maybe not finding, well, that's why I was asking you, like, but maybe they're not finding a message elsewhere. They're just voting against him.

Speaker: ah let me yeah Let me make comment about Hillary, okay? The last thing I'll say. This is gonna sexual related. Doesn't have charisma. You'd probably hit it if there weren't a lot of other options.

Speaker: And this woman is a brilliant politician in terms of work, getting the work done. Like getting the actual work. Like like I don't wanna think about what the government's doing all the time.

Speaker: I don't wanna listen to news stories about the government That was your gal. If you wanted to go about your life, go drink craft beers and have a rib dinner and never talk politics, she was your gal. She'd do all the things structurally, I believe. that and ah And honestly, she's more conservative than Trump in terms of her thinking and and overall policy.

Speaker: So let's just give some love where love is deserved. Eat pussy. And you just, what you just, I forgot another point that i'm not that happy with is like their immigration policies, but I don't want to open that up, but I don't like his, I never have agreed with him on that stuff.

Speaker: ah But yeah, like you might you might go back and listen to Hillary and like her policies are might be, like you said, more conservative. than But she she's she can't run, can't she? No, I'm not asking her to run anymore. i'm just Could she? I don't even know how old she is. but Well, she could, but no, she's not good at this she's she's not a viable candidate anymore. I'm just saying, despite her a philandering husband...

Speaker: I thought the woman understood the government and would adhere to the norms of the government, would maintain allies, and do all the reasonable things that we've come to, well, now we've come to neglect.

Speaker: and Wow. Here we are, bro. Here we are, right-wing MAGA pieces of fucking shit. Good job. Well, maybe not. ah Maybe it's flipped. I guess, when when is this midterm shit that people keep talking about, when is that?

Speaker: Like, soon? Yeah, it's like November 3rd, I think. Okay. And what if, let's just say nothing happened. Like, there was no flip. You're just like, you're just fed up with America.

Speaker: me with americans yeah i just i don't know what because like if i were a republican i don't know let's let's say the democrats are acting like this i i'm done i don't i just don't know i don't know what has people so anchored on this guy you're bailing yeah yeah i don't know what like your intellectual process is if you have one at all so i just don't understand it but hey if trans is the biggest threat to you i guess you have to go with your gut I think that's what the Democrats should do is but is put trans trans bathrooms and trans athletes in the forefront of the political the debate and be like, let's do it. This is the most important thing.

Speaker: Like we're going to increase sex changes by 170%.

Speaker: But we we want to lower the age to six, six years old. ah That would be great. then Somebody should do like a skit about that. Like a bunch of Democrats and like, how can we win power back? And they they just have a bunch of ideas like that.

Speaker: Bunch of bad ideas. that' Ridiculous. Yeah, be great. Kind of stemming from their other ideas, but like. All right, well, finish it out, dude, and calm anyone who listens to this down. Like calm them down.

Speaker: now Give them some words of encouragement. Um, I don't, I don't really have any. I don't, I don't, I just think, uh, I don't even know what the, I mean, i can sit here and be like, why don't we do anything about AI just because I'm informed about it. I'm not doing anything, but you know, the, what is it? Write your Congressman.

Speaker: If you believe there's something to be done, like, I just kind of wonder what, what the steps are for everyone to take, to realize that there might be some fucked up stuff happening. I don't know what to do.

Speaker: don't know what they should do. wow At what point do we start packaging up jizz bags and throwing it on our congressmen and our senators? That's what I want to know.

Speaker: So that should be the end. Do you really want to know?

Speaker: Who is Tina? Who is Tina? Not just about the love, Dave, but I'm not Tina. Who is Tina? It's so much more. More than you know.

Speaker: No, no, no.
