Milan's Scoretto Prospects

00:00:14
Speaker
But who do you think is going to win the scoretto? Well, I mean, you gave me a softball there. I mean, if I were to say anybody but Milan at this point, I think it would be crazy. I think at this point, if Milan doesn't win, they just need a point, right? Yeah, one point. One point.

Lorenzo Insigne's Memorable Season

00:00:29
Speaker
That's it. Who's been your player of the season in the Serie A?
00:00:30
Speaker
this week's Italian football podcast.
00:00:32
Speaker
You know, it's funny, I'm going to say Lorenzo Insinie, and it's only because he's given us so many memories this year. And I think just seeing what happened last week at Napoli, you know, football, as you know, football and Italian football in particular, it's all about emotions and passion.

Insigne's Emotional Farewell

Speaker
And I think for me, nothing evoked the essence of Italian football and the emotions more than seeing Insinie last week. I think he scored a penalty kick too. And just to get standing ovation from the fans, I mean,

know, a child of Napoli, leaving Napoli on a positive note and, you know, embraced by the fans. I think for me that was incredible. For sure.

Chiellini's Retirement Announcement

00:01:09
Speaker
And speaking of another legendary player who just said goodbye to Juventus, the captain of Italy's Euro 2020 win, Giorgio Cellini, it looks like he's going to retire. We know that he's going to leave Juve. He had his final game for Juve. I mean, how do you look back on his career?

Chiellini's Legacy

00:01:23
Speaker
Kehlini was one of Bandiera. He won a European Cup. He just missed the 2006 World Cup, I believe. I don't think he came up to the national team until what was it, 2008 or 2010? The Italian national team has been such an interesting
00:01:39
Speaker
It's just been such an interesting thing over the past, you know, 10, 12 years, because you talk about highs and lows and they won European cups and they went to the finals of European cups and then they've missed qualifying for world cups. And Cellini's been in the mix of all that. The one thing I'll say about him is that regardless of, and he's got trophies to prove it. He's got national team trophies. He's got domestic trophies to prove it. But regardless of his successes on the field, he's always been a warrior. He's been a class act off the field.

that's what he's going to be remembered for. And this is coming from someone who is completely anti-uventino.
