00:00:48
Speaker
An hour and a half later. Almost two hours later. Two hours of us on our bullshit.
00:00:56
Speaker
because we haven't talked in like a week. It is. Hopefully the Jets simmer down. Somebody was traipsing through the Amalfi coast. I know.
00:01:09
Speaker
Feeling very humbled because you know how all Europeans look like fucking models. Isn't nobody plus eyes or miss eyes in this country? No. But I had fun. I drank a lot of women's cello spritz. I lived vicariously through you and all of your photos. Yeah.
00:01:32
Speaker
I was very jealous, but you know what? I am also very jealous of all your trips too. And I will be very jealous of the concert that you're going to in September. And I can't wait till October, October, October, October, but you're also seeing panic at the disco. I don't even know when am I seeing them? I need to look because I need to get my life together.
00:01:54
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to come and go and you're going to be, and then he's going to be like, when's the panic at the disco concert? And you're going to be like, Oh, that is also in October. Oh, October is going to be an amazing month. Yeah. And then Pussifers in November. Yay. And we're seeing Taylor Tomlinson in December.
00:02:12
Speaker
I don't know who that is. She is a comedian. She's fucking hilarious. Okay. Like you should look her up. You'd probably love her. I will look her up. But first, since you were going to say Taylor Swift and I was like, excuse me.

Concerts and Personal Intuition

00:02:26
Speaker
Where was my invitation? No Swifty concert. No Swifty concert for you. Our concerts are expensive. They are expensive. And I got, so you know, they do the vet ticks or whatever. Yeah. I got free tickets to go see her. It was whenever I had pneumonia and didn't know it. And so I took Emily because she really liked Taylor Swift at the time.
00:02:48
Speaker
It was on like a Thursday night too. So she had school that day and my plan was, okay, we'll take her. And then if it goes kind of late, we, I just wanted to take her to school the next day. That was out here, wasn't it? It was like, wrote the Metro down there. We wrote the Metro. We get through the first two opening acts, literally the first song. Are you ready for it? It was brilliant. Amazing performance. Loved it. I was so hyped. Emily goes.
00:03:19
Speaker
Mom, can we go home? I'm getting kind of tired. And I'm like, oh no. So I've seen Taylor Swift perform a song. A singular song. I would have been like, no, you're gonna, this is what a concert's like. Yeah. So I'm just like, I was so disappointed, but also I feel like it was probably for the best because I also couldn't breathe and probably should have gone, but.
00:03:47
Speaker
I should have trusted my intuition. I am. Yeah, you should have. And we're going to talk about that. I am excited for everything that we're going to see, but I like and the most excited for Pussifer because
00:04:06
Speaker
I've seen Tool several times. We haven't gotten to see a perfect circle. I would love to see him with a perfect circle, but Pussifer is his project, like Maynard's project, and I absolutely love them. And it's not just a concert, it's a whole performance. Julia said the last one that she went to, they had the luchadores there, like wrestling as the opening act, and then they performed inside of the wrestling ring with the luchadores doing stuff around them.
00:04:35
Speaker
That's so cool. All these costume changes and it's going to be amazing. It's like a whole last theater situation. Plus you get great music with it because it's Maynard James Keenan and literally everything he touches turns to gold. Nice. I'm definitely going to check them out. When you told me about them a few weeks ago, I added them on Spotify.
00:05:02
Speaker
added them to our library. So I just need to, I haven't got a chance to really listen to any music. Here's the thing that you need to understand. Do you remember who green jello is? No.
00:05:16
Speaker
So they were a similar situation back in the 80s. And Maynard was part of it as a guest kind of thing. It wasn't his thing, but he loved it because it's all about the performance and the shock value and being wild and crazy and wearing crazy costumes and doing silly things and just making it this whole production.
00:05:41
Speaker
Some of the music is really ridiculous, like there's an entire song called Country Boner.
00:05:47
Speaker
It's one of mine and Julia's favorite songs because we sing it to annoy Anthony and Robert. The lyrics are literally like, he basically says I fucked every country singer's name, like he fucks Dolly Parton, he fucks Lourdes Lynn, like the whole song is about him fucking country singers. And then like the chorus is my country boner just won't go down. It won't go down.
00:06:13
Speaker
It won't go down. It's ridiculous, but hilarious. But then there's like really good songs too. Like the last album, I think it's called Existential Reckoning. Beautiful. And it's not like a bunch of silly stuff. Like it's just fucking beautiful. I mean, obviously there's some things, but it's great. There's a song called Potions that I love or Rev2220 is top notch.
00:06:40
Speaker
nice okay well i would keep that in mind yeah and also to our listeners you should also check them out or if you are a fan already let us know what your favorite pussifer song is because i need to know enlightens mantha because i don't know anything i absolutely love them they're like i pretty much love anything that mainer is a part of but that is like if i was putting them in order mine would be pussifer number one then probably perfect circle then tool
00:07:08
Speaker
Anthony would probably put perfect circle first.

Exploring Intuition

00:07:11
Speaker
So what are we talking about today?
00:07:18
Speaker
So when we're talking about intuition, you can define that as the ability to understand something immediately without the need for conscious reasoning. It's a thing that you know or consider likely from instinctive feelings rather than conscious reasoning. It's a process that gives us the ability to know something directly without analytical reasoning, bridging the gap between the conscious and non-conscious parts of our mind. It's something that is kind of in between your instincts and then
00:07:46
Speaker
actual reasoning. Intuition is an inner voice or a gut feeling that tries to guide us and give us messages about a situation, a person, or just your daily lives in general. So when you're in a situation and something doesn't feel right, or maybe it feels really good and comfortable, that's your intuition telling you messages about what's going on.
00:08:11
Speaker
it's a deep inner knowing. So it can often be considered as an inner tugging to a specific direction, thought or action, or it can be something as simple as just intuitively knowing things about people, like getting a feeling about someone when you first meet them. And this is something that for the longest time, I didn't realize was intuition. But I just would meet people and or just be in a room with someone and kind of
00:08:38
Speaker
No, like I think they're a good person or I should steer clear of this person. And usually for the most part with limited exceptions, those feelings are right. So you need to trust your intuition when it comes to that. It'll save you a lot of heartache and issues. Intuition is also something that surpasses our five senses. It's a stream of knowledge without us knowing why, where, or how we know the information. We just know it.
00:09:06
Speaker
So everyone has intuition. It's just kind of a matter of how much you use it and how aware of it that you are. It's often seen as like hokey by some people and we're often told to like rationalize over following our intuition because this is something that I found really cool and I know I talk about it later but
00:09:26
Speaker
Up until like the mid 2000 like 2000 I think 16 was when the study was originally done, I could be wrong. I can't remember exactly when the study was done but there wasn't science on intuition because there was no way to measure a person's intuition that people knew of. And so like researchers came up with this way to measure it and then
00:09:48
Speaker
it started to become like backed by science and a psychologist got interested in it and we're doing studies on it. So prior to any of this, it was more seen as like, oh, that's just grandma being weird or that's, you know, like someone just rash, using intuition instead of rationalizing why they don't like being in a situation or why they don't like a person.
00:10:12
Speaker
So while there's been this witchy or spiritual shift, there still are years of cultural prejudice that make it where us as humans try to rationalize our instincts and our intuition, which often diminishes our capacity to leverage this particular power. So if you're trying to rationalize instead of listening to that intuition, you're just damping that intuition down and not using it and honing it and building it.
00:10:43
Speaker
I found this quote, well it was like a piece from this book that I thought was kind of cool. The author's name is Francis P. I believe it's Cole, and he wrote The Intuitive Compass. So he says, think of the common phrase, we are not like animals. It tells us that
00:11:04
Speaker
The assumed differences between humans and animals is humans' ability to reason with our instinctual impulses, and the unspoken message is that reason is higher and better quality to possess. And he also says, we don't have to reject scientific logic in order to benefit from instinct. We can honor and call upon all of these tools, and then we can seek balance with them.
00:11:30
Speaker
I felt that was so fitting to kind of that shift in it. We are moving to a time where being a witch is kind of cool and having these intuitive instincts is
00:11:47
Speaker
it's seen as like, oh, that's really cool. I wish I could do that. And it's like, you do totally can. You just have to like work through like what we've been taught to not use and start using it to hone it and build it. Exactly. And I know that you're going to be going to some more of the study type stuff, but I found this, um, and I thought it was super interesting because there is, like you said, there is a science behind intuition and essentially it's,
00:12:15
Speaker
Intuition is like the reaction of our brain based on patterns that are categorized by our brain. So it's done consciously and unconsciously. Your brain will sift through patterns in your subconscious and bring the information to you. And that's what brings us those gut feelings or just knowing something without knowing why we know those things. Intuition is a part of tacit knowledge.
00:12:43
Speaker
And our experiences influence our intuitive actions. So the more that you experience in life, the more you practice, the more you do these things, the more your intuition will be, the more you'll be honed in into your own intuition.
00:12:59
Speaker
Yeah. It's like our tuition is our intuition. Our intuition is it's always been there, but because we've been like innately taught to reason over following those gut feelings, that gut feelings are just like this hokey thing or, you know, Oh, that's hippie stuff. Like I've heard stuff like that before when you're like, Oh, I don't feel right about this. But like, because we haven't,
00:13:27
Speaker
done like we haven't followed our instincts and our intuition always because it's not the norm like a societal norm it's more like you need to rationalize like let's think all of these things out and when you're thinking it your brain is pushing back those like subconscious or unconscious thoughts that are your intuition.
00:13:48
Speaker
So it's just, it's interesting to, like, I don't know. I've always thought, you know, like if I have a gut feeling, it's like, well, okay, let's, let's avoid that. Or, you know, oh, this is really good. But it's interesting to see the science behind it. You know, me with like, I have a health and wellness degree. I have, you know, a degree that was all research based in terrorism and counterterrorism studies from when I was in the military. I'm, you know, I've done drug and alcohol counseling. A lot of these things have science backed
00:14:18
Speaker
like research-based. So when we find these topics in like witchy topics, it just makes my heart happy to be like, no look, there is actual science like based material that tells you about this as well.

Intuition in Science and Life

00:14:33
Speaker
So the study that I was talking about was published in the Journal of Psychological Science and researchers found that people can use their intuition to make faster, more accurate and more confident decisions. And it showed that intuition does exist and that researchers actually can measure it.
00:14:51
Speaker
So these are like the decisions that our brains are making without any analytical reasoning. And researchers defined intuition as the influence of non-conscious emotional information from the body or the brain, such as an instinctual feeling or sensation. That's like what we're talking about with that gut feeling or, you know, when you walk into a room with people and like you're immediately drawn to them and you feel comfortable with them or you walk into
00:15:19
Speaker
a room of people where you're like, I, I need to get out of here. I don't like being here. Those are like those emotional triggers, essentially that your body and your brain are trying to send to you to say like, Hey, yeah, you're good here. Or no, like let's go. This isn't safe. I don't want to be here. I'm not comfortable. Yeah. And you know, if you're wondering why our intuition is important, intuition is incredibly important in building that is important, whether or not you're looking at it from a mundane or witchy aspect. So.
00:15:49
Speaker
For the mundane, building your intuition can affect just about every aspect of your life, whether you're a witch or not. It can affect your career, your relationships, whether they be intimate relationships or with just friends or family or work colleagues, and it can also help you with your own personal growth. Trusting your intuition helps us to fully trust ourselves and to lead a more authentic lifestyle.
00:16:13
Speaker
And then as far as from a witchy aspect, intuition helps with spellwork. It can help with intuitive divination or tarot, like taking out a card and looking at it and connecting it to your life situation without just opening up the book and reading what it says about the card.
00:16:30
Speaker
It's a tool to let your subconscious speak to you and it can help when you're working with your clairs. So trusting your intuition is imperative when working with the clairs and even trying to build those skills and hone any of the clairs that you may possess. Trusting your intuition is crucial because if say, for instance, you're a psychic or medium and you're receiving information, you have to be able to trust your intuition to know that this is the information that you're receiving. If you're constantly second guessing yourself because you don't
00:16:59
Speaker
trust yourself and you don't trust your intuition, then you're going to end up with a bunch of muddled information that comes to you and you're not going to know what to trust, what's real, what's not. And getting in touch with your intuition and honing that part of you will really help. So intuition also helps with something that's known as intuitive witchcraft, which, you know,
00:17:22
Speaker
Intuition, intuitive witchcraft kind of goes hand in hand. Makes sense. It helps you in tune with your thoughts, desires, feelings, et cetera, is all basically intuitive witchcraft is. And you need to know yourself and trust yourselves to really understand what it is that you want, what it is that you're thinking, what it is that you feel.
00:17:42
Speaker
And you have to be able to master that at a certain level or your spells just won't really work. It doesn't matter what you're trying to add into your cauldron as far as ingredients. If you don't trust your intuition, your spell at the end of the day is not really going to work for you.
00:17:57
Speaker
So building your intuition can help guide you on how to craft or create spells that are meaningful for the phase of your life that you're currently in. So it can help you focus on what is important right now and what you need to focus on. It can also help guide you on the herbs or crystals or just anything that you can use, what color correspondences, et cetera, that you work with. Being able to trust your intuition.
00:18:34
Speaker
I'm assuming that you have done your research and you know, like.
00:18:40
Speaker
blending certain things could be fatal and all that stuff. But being able to trust your intuition helps you to trust the information that's inside of you. It lets your inner voice be your guide. And this is, you know, we always say, do your research, but please do your research. But also, you know, we give you correspondences in almost every episode when we talk about specific topics, you know, correspondences for
00:19:05
Speaker
Sabbaths, correspondences for gods and goddesses, correspondences for different types of magic. But it's also one of those things where it's like, if this spell says, use a green candle, and you're like, I'm not really feeling that connection to that green candle, but I like this purple one, use the purple one because that's what
00:19:26
Speaker
you're feeling drawn to and there could be a reason for that, maybe. Exactly. And being more connected to, if you're more connected to this particular ingredient or candle or whatever, it's going to put more backing into what you're doing. Absolutely. And when it comes to candle magic, for instance, I know we've talked about this before on, I think it was a candle magic episode where we were talking about the correspondences for
00:19:54
Speaker
prosperity and how green is usually associated with prosperity. But for me, my intuition tells me that yellow, that is the color that I should use because it signifies outside of just money, abundance and happiness and growth. And that's what my intuition tells me to use. And so that's what I use.
00:20:12
Speaker
Yeah, same with when I'm working with my spirit guides and I'm using a candle. I can't even remember what color correspondence because I've never paid attention to it, but what color correspondence actually is for spirit guides. I think it was like white or purple or something. I use blue, a light blue candle because that to me represents working with spirit guides and that's just something that calls to me. And so that's just, you know, just let your intuition be your guide, be your voice of reason, trust it.
00:20:40
Speaker
So on that same token, can your intuition be wrong? Absolutely. Your intuition can definitely be wrong. And if that's the case, don't worry because this has happened to everyone at some point. Just make sure that you're reflecting on your intuitive thoughts. And when your gut feeling is wrong, just make sure you're practicing like your shadow work, understanding like say, for instance,
00:21:01
Speaker
If you have a gut feeling about somebody and you are assuming that they're like the worst person ever, maybe working on your shadow work or seeing a therapist or journaling something, maybe that will highlight some sort of past trauma that has triggered for you to assume
00:21:20
Speaker
by looking at that person, your intuition, telling you that there's something bad going on here when really that's not the case. Maybe that could be that situation that you just need to work through past trauma or you need to do more shadow work to kind of understand why you're feeling this way or why your intuition is assuming that this is what's happening.
00:21:40
Speaker
because, you know, just in general past trauma and how you were raised can weaken your intuition. I mean, if you were raised in a very controlling household, say you have low self-esteem, there's somebody always putting you down or has put you down in the past, maybe making you second guess your decisions or say, if somebody's making those decisions for you, this can weaken your intuition. So just make sure that you are doing the work too. I mean, you can't
00:22:09
Speaker
with any, any sort of magic or witchcraft, there is always that need to work with shadow work and need to just heal yourself and also see a therapist. I think everybody can benefit from seeing a therapist. So if you feel like your intuition is not working the way it's supposed to, or say it's leading you down past that you feel like you shouldn't be down or keeping you from meeting people that
00:22:38
Speaker
should be placed into your life. Maybe you need to work more with shadow work or see a therapist or do some journaling something. And this is something too that I'm going to talk about later, but in these instances that you're having these gut feelings or you feel like your intuition is telling you something, journaling is a great way to recognize the patterns. So when you have these feelings, keep a log of them, write them down in a book, a journal, a notebook, whatever.
00:23:07
Speaker
type them up, I don't care. Just however you can keep track of them. And then start looking for patterns of times when your intuition was wrong and see, you know, what was the setting? What was your mood that day? Like, why were these feelings your prominent feelings? And maybe you'll be able to like find what that pattern is so that when you're having these feelings and, you know, later your intuition's wrong.
00:23:35
Speaker
you can look at it and be like, okay, this is a pattern. This tends to happen when I'm in a bad mood or when I wake up late or my boss is being mean to me at work. Those kinds of things can help you identify when maybe your intuition might be a little off. How do we find our intuition? If we haven't been following it, we've been told to use reasoning over intuition and instincts.

Developing Intuition

00:24:01
Speaker
How do we get back to a point where we can find our intuition? I found this piece in one of the psychology journals that I was reading on intuition yesterday.
00:24:15
Speaker
and thought that it was interesting and it might be helpful for somebody who, you know, maybe you don't tend to follow your intuition or you don't feel like you have intuition. You definitely do, but you just have to be able to pull it back out, right? So in the psychology journal, it was saying to start dialoguing with yourself. So like no matter what the situation is to practice and start building on like honing your intuition,
00:24:43
Speaker
you would dialogue with your unconscious mind. So your unconscious mind will search through your past, your present, and your future. And it's going to try to connect with those hunches and feelings in a nonlinear way. There's no like analytical thing, like reasoning or thinking going on. It's more like, what are these like patterns and how do I connect them? And so dialogue, you can do something as simple as being like,
00:25:07
Speaker
what should I wear today? And then allow your unconscious to choose that color. So like what pops in your mind without you thinking about it saying what should I wear today? What like what comes up? And then continue like if it says red or blue or whatever,
00:25:26
Speaker
To continue, you would ask like, why red or why blue? Why that color? Then allow your unconscious to state the why without you coming up with that reason. Like don't sit and think about it for yourself. Just like what is popping in your head when you say why? And then continue asking and allowing the answers to simply form in your mind.
00:25:47
Speaker
to help hone your intuition, but do so without worrying about reason or logic. And you can't sit and be judgmental about this either. You just have to let it happen. And by doing this with just remedial things in your everyday life, you can help build your intuition and bring it back to the surface so that it's there, you're more aware of it, it's more apparent.
00:26:09
Speaker
There's a constant dialogue between your conscious and unconscious mind. And building our intuition means that we're removing that block that keeps you from hearing that dialogue. So removing this block brings you your awareness. It allows you to move forward and to accept your intuition.
00:26:26
Speaker
And again, you have to be able to do this without being judgmental on yourself because that's just gonna put that block back up and push it back down. So how do you identify your intuition versus your generated thoughts? With intuition, there's an absence of a thought trail. So there usually aren't prior thoughts that lead you to an intuitive message. So oftentimes it'll be something that pops into your mind
00:26:53
Speaker
without you having to work to get your thoughts there. Sometimes you'll also get bodily reactions that are urging you to sense that the message is your intuition. And this can be things like excitement, maybe an uplifting feeling, or like a feeling of a solid thought. But you can also have bodily reactions if your understanding of your intuition isn't right.
00:27:16
Speaker
So there might be, you know, if you normally have an uplifting feeling when your intuition is on point, you might feel like a sinking feeling in your gut, or maybe just a complete feeling of wrongness or uncomfortableness. So those are just some ways that you can kind of recognize that. And then how do we develop our intuition?
00:27:38
Speaker
There are so many things that you can do for this, right? So many different things. And if I went over all of them, we'd be here like literally hours. So I just listed out a few and I think, Sam, you put some in there too, right? I did, yes. Yeah. Okay. So one thing you can do is meditate, just spending some time in silence. This can help interpret messages that come through like from your intuition.
00:28:04
Speaker
Shut your mind off, stop thinking about all the things you have to do tomorrow, all the things that happen today. Just take time to quiet your mind and allow that inner voice to come out and spend some time thinking about what those messages that are coming through mean, honing your senses. This can raise your sensitivity to your sixth sense or your intuition. Just be observant of the world around you. With technology today, we're all distracted.
00:28:32
Speaker
I am 100% guilty of, you know, we're sitting somewhere having to wait like five minutes for something and I pull out my phone instead of paying attention to everything around me. So with those distractions, we aren't aware of what's happening and that like we aren't
00:28:49
Speaker
allowing our intuition to come through and recognize what's around us and send those messages. So just taking some time to maybe just disconnect from technology for a little bit and observing the world around you, no matter if you're at the mall or if you're just sitting in a park or
00:29:09
Speaker
sitting in your backyard, just paying attention to everything that's happening. With your dreams, when you're sleeping, your cognitive mind rests an open space for the subconscious mind to signal you in your dreams. So something with this would be to keep a notebook on your nightstand, and when you wake up, write down everything that you remember from your dreams if you have them.
00:29:31
Speaker
And as you start to fill your dream journal, start connecting patterns and seeing how they play into your intuition throughout the day. Are there things in your dreams that are popping up the next day in whatever situation you're in? Start connecting those patterns and that'll help you better understand the intuition that's coming through.

And then just like we said earlier, journaling in general, just writing your thoughts and feelings down, it can help open your unconscious mind. And doing that allows you to also look for these patterns that we've been talking about. And you can also try automatic writing.
00:30:12
Speaker
getting your pen and paper, sitting there like relaxed and comfortable and just writing down whatever comes through. And again, you have to do this without judgment because sometimes it's just going to be random words or random phrases that maybe don't make sense to you in the moment, but you might be able to connect them to something later. And you can also do automatic typing for this because you know, it's 2022 and
00:30:40
Speaker
Most people don't just write in a notebook anymore, which I find sad, but it is what it is. And then the key, also a key to this is no editing. And again, no judgment. You just have to let those thoughts and phrases and whatever just flow onto the paper and then try and figure out what they mean.
00:31:02
Speaker
like based on your intuitive messages. Creativity is another way to help build intuition. Engaging in creativity helps to quiet your cognitive mind and allows your intuition to come through more clearly. And using divination, like Sam was saying earlier with the tarot cards, interpreting messages for yourself and divination can help strengthen your intuition. So when you're using tarot or oracle cards,
00:31:28
Speaker
Before you pull that book out, try and interpret what the card means to you in that moment. Like how does it apply to what you're asking your cards? And just trust your intuition to guide you. Some other magical tools that you can use are a pendulum, reading tea leaves, reading smoke or fire, candle divination, crystals. Like honestly, you could really use anything, whatever you connect with. But these are just more common, like magical tools.
00:31:59
Speaker
And the more you hone your intuition, the better your divination will start to become. And the more you'll start to understand these messages that are coming through. And another thing that you can do to kind of build up your intuition or just get better at recognizing it is aligning with the lunar cycles.

Lunar Cycles and Psychic Abilities

00:32:18
Speaker
We've already discussed on this podcast many times just how powerful the moon is, how it can affect everything from the water all around us to our own menstrual cycles.
00:32:27
Speaker
And there's a lot of power in the moon itself. And aligning with the lunar cycles can help harness the inherent psychic power that is present. And if you identify as a female or are biologically female, it can help you to connect more with the female energy that is present within the moon. So researching the moon cycles helps you discover when is the best time to manifest or say, let things go. And the more you practice, the more you just feel so in tune with the moon.
00:32:55
Speaker
and your intuition because you start to feel when it's time to manifest things or release things from your life. We've already talked about this a few times this episode, but your bodily reactions, your intuition speaks through your body. So paying attention to those feelings and interpreting those meanings can help you build your intuition and also like help you in the moment. Like, why am I feeling this way? Or, you know, like, do I need to remove myself from this situation?
00:33:24
Speaker
So just check in with your body and see what messages that you're feeling. And some of these examples could be maybe you're just feeling an uncomfortable physical feeling while attempting to make a decision. You might even start to feel sick, like an upset stomach or even get a headache. These can be stress responses, but they could also be your intuition trying to get your attention.
00:33:47
Speaker
taking a break from your daily routine again like when you're constantly thinking about everything and you know you're getting up and you you have to you know for me like example I get up I make coffee and then I come sit at my computer and I check my emails and I start you know
00:34:08
Speaker
What's going on with the website? What do I have to get on our calendar? And I start going into this routine. I don't allow my mind to quiet and stop and allow like my intuition or my inner voice or whatever to kind of come through for my day.
00:34:24
Speaker
So you really just have to take time to slow down or just spend time in new surroundings with no plans or schedule. Give yourself time to be sensitive to your intuition and your internal messages. Spend some time in nature and away from technology and just allow your intuition to be front and center.
00:34:42
Speaker
Find a solitary place where you can allow emotions to flow freely. You may also want to create an emotional connection to an object or color or music, literature, anything that you can just emotionally connect to that can help trigger your feelings and your intuition. I'm listening to this piece of music. It makes me feel comfortable and calm.
00:35:07
Speaker
And then that triggers your brain to just kind of relax and shut down and allow your inner voice and intuitive messages to come through. This also will help find and retain the building blocks of intuition. So just slow down. And while it sounds simple, slowing down is really hard in today's fast paced world because we're always just rushing from place to place. We're constantly stressed and this creates blocks in our intuition.
00:35:35
Speaker
Intuition is a slower process, and when you're racing from place to place, you're keeping your intuition from being able to observe the moment and send those messages. And then just being present is important. Intuition is based in the present, so practices like meditation and yoga are great for helping you build your intuition.
00:35:55
Speaker
Yeah. And I know you've already kind of mentioned this, but switching off makes it so much easier to get in touch with your intuition. I mean, we're constantly bombarded with stimuli at every turn, our electronics, our jobs, and just the constant need to feel switched on and be able to be contacted at any given point. That's not good.
00:36:16
Speaker
It makes it so difficult, as you were saying, to be present and mindful, which can have a huge impact on both our mundane and witchy selves. And it can also hinder our intuition. So, you know, overthinking or having anxiety from being constantly stimulated can suppress our intuition. So we don't know what information is coming in and we may not know what information to trust.
00:36:40
Speaker
So spending time practicing that mindfulness and just seeing where your mind wanders when you're still after you remove all distractions is a great way to kind of get you back in touch with that intuition. Yeah.
00:36:56
Speaker
Also just like learning in the moment. So when you have a negative experience, take a minute to pause and think through your day leading up to that experience. Were there any instances that you missed? Were there any instances that you missed your intuition trying to send you a message?
00:37:14
Speaker
Did you have a gut feeling leading up to this experience? Just take the time to notice that and then try to remember those instances moving forward. You have to be able to feel more and to think less. Intuition is based on your feelings, so try to remove the thought process and trust those feelings more.
00:37:33
Speaker
And an example of this could be like, you know, we all say the vibe today, like that's the catchphrase, right? Like, what's the vibe there? What vibe did they have? So what are the vibes that you're feeling in a situation or about a person? Well, this is similar to your internal messages from your body's reaction.
00:37:50
Speaker
It's based more on the external energies from the situation, places, and people around you. We've all met that one person, right? That you get introduced to them and it's like immediately you're turned off. It's an ick. And it's because they're putting out this negative energy or vibe, or maybe they're just pulling too much energy from you.
00:38:14
Speaker
I know I have people in my life that I've spent time with. And it's like after spending a couple hours with them, I need to go and just sit in solitude and quiet and recharge myself because they just suck that energy from you. So like reading the vibes that you're feeling from a person or a situation can also help you like hone and build your intuition on these types of situations. Yeah. And then
00:38:42
Speaker
Now, a big thing with this is just practice. Trial and error is your friend, whether that be in spell work or tarot, you need to get to that place where your intuition is that inner guide or voice that leads you to where you need to be and guide you on your journey. But the only way to make that intrinsic is to continue practicing your craft and letting things come naturally for you. A great example of this is, and it's something that you can do every day, all the time.
00:39:09
Speaker
is learning how to speak your truth. So if your intuition is telling you to say no to something but you are too nice and you don't want to say no, don't say yes to something that you don't want to do. Say no. If your intuition is telling you no, don't say yes because you're nice. Say no. This is my strong area. I say no all the time. I do not care if it hurts your feelings. It's called boundaries, people.
00:39:39
Speaker
your intuition, like don't get burnt out. Don't like, this is such an easy thing that you can practice that can help you get more in touch with your intuition and help you live more authentically. Like, why are you saying yes to things that you don't want to do? Don't do it. No, don't look, you'll be happier. You will. So you hurt someone's feelings for a minute. They'll get over it. They will. Also, you know, if they're, especially if they're interfering with your boundaries itself, like
00:40:09
Speaker
don't feel sorry. Yeah. Yeah. And then Sam is probably a better person to explain this one in general that your spirit guides, your guides are amazing companions when working with intuition. And if you haven't listened to episode 21, go back and listen up. So 21, where we took a deep dive on spirit guides, but also like, if you work with spirit guides, these, this is a great way to work with your intuition as well.
00:40:37
Speaker
Exactly. Because stuff will come through. And like at first, like, and I think I even mentioned this on our spirit guide episode when I first started working with my spirit guides at first, I was like, am I just making this stuff in my head? Like up in my head? And I would second guess myself because I wasn't trusting what my intuition was showing me. It wasn't
00:40:56
Speaker
trusting, like I wasn't trusting myself. And so the more you work with it, the more that you see it and the more that I was connecting with other psychics that were telling me, okay, I'm seeing one of your spirit guides and they look like this. And I'm like, I saw this that I'm just like, Oh my God, I am a bad-ass bitch. So I think that that goes back to that
00:41:24
Speaker
cultural prejudice you know like for millennia we've basically just been told like intuition isn't a thing like you need to rationalize you need to reason and use logic and so like we have to undo that
00:41:39
Speaker
like untrain ourselves and allow us to like be able to use our intuition and connect to those inner voices and that inner message and those you know bodily reactions and gut feelings so it's not obviously it's not something you're gonna do overnight it's going to take a little bit of time to undo that but you know working on it a little bit every day even if you're just practicing that inner dialogue of saying
00:42:05
Speaker
what should I wear today and letting those messages just kind of automatically come through what to help you like build that up a little bit. And then the biggest thing is just to simply shut up.
00:42:16
Speaker
like shut up and listen. Stop telling yourself and start listening to like your inner voice. Being silent and being present in the moment is necessary for your intuition to be able to come through. Silence is powerful. It allows for space. It allows you to receive information while connecting with your inner voice. So just take the time to
00:42:37
Speaker
not like don't push those thoughts up just sit there don't think those thoughts don't think anything just let your intuition come through let that inner voice come through and tell you the messages that you need i liked it i was like shut the hell up
