Speaker: Welcome back to When Words Fail, Diversional Family. I am so incredibly glad you chose to pull up a chair. and spend this time sitting down at the table with me today. We're stepping into an episode titled When the Rain Doesn't Stop.
Speaker: where we get to explore the heart. the silent struggles, and the emotional landscape behind my track. brand new light. wherever you're listening from right now. Welcome. I am glad you found your way here.
Speaker: whatever heavy storms brought you through the door.
Speaker: Have you ever lived through a season? where the downpour just won't let up. I'm not talking about a quick afternoon thunderstorm that clears the air. and leaves a rainbow. I mean that relentless, gray, compounding rain.
Speaker: that falls day after day. until the ground is completely saturated. and everything around you. feels entirely waterlogged. You look out the window every morning.
Speaker: Hoping to see a break in the clouds. but all you see is more gray. That is exactly where this track finds us. standing in the middle of a deep spiritual unhealthiness.
Speaker: entirely stuck and weighed down. by everything happening in our individual lives. and everything going on in the world around us. Before we look into the scripture together,
Speaker: I want us to make a shared agreement today. We aren't here to play religious games. or perform certainties. If you're feeling completely drained, stuck in place and carrying the crushing weight of the world on your shoulders.
Speaker: This place is a sanctuary built just for you. This is an unhurried, Honest invitation. to pull your chair up to the table. drop your defenses,
Speaker: and lean into the life -giving protection of the Holy Spirit. The word. and the community of God's people. Just stay with me for these next moments. Let's begin our time together by slowing down.
Speaker: Turning our eyes back toward the Lord. And grounding ourselves in a moment of prayer. Would you bow your heads with me? Heavenly Father, We come before you in the middle of whatever storm we are currently facing.
Speaker: For the listener sitting under a heavy canopy of rain clouds today. We ask for your stillness. We confess that we often try to push past our pain. or hide our confusion from you.
Speaker: Lord, Quiet our restless, weary minds right now. Lead us back to a place of raw honesty in your word. and a commitment to fervent prayer.
Speaker: Give us the courage to be entirely transparent. about the spiritual weights we are carrying into this room. As we unpack your truth today. Pierce through our darkness with your unhurried comfort.
Speaker: and open our eyes to the light we didn't know we needed. In the beautiful and life -giving name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Speaker: When we look into the opening verses of Brand New Light, We are stepping right into the reality of what it looks like when our spiritual reservoirs run. completely dry. There are times on this journey for following Jesus doesn't feel like a series of mountaintop victories.
Speaker: It feels like standing out in an open field. while a storm slowly creeping inside begins to dim whatever faded. flickering light we have left inside our spirit.
Speaker: We find ourselves lost beneath masses. heavy questions of life. wandering entirely alone in the quiet.
Speaker: I think most of us know that exact feeling. even if the personal details look completely different for each of us. It's that sense of gray clouds rolling into your life.
Speaker: that you never invited. Never wanted. and can't seem to outrun. It's a weight that shows up. completely unannounced at night. Right when everything else goes quiet.
Speaker: The screens are off. and there's absolutely nothing left to distract you from the reality of your own thoughts. And maybe the hardest part of this journey isn't even the sadness itself It's not being able to name it.
Speaker: The lyrics describe crying tears you can't even explain. or identify to the people around you. You just know that inside, something is spiritually off.
Speaker: or entirely stop. Your tears are permanently falling like rain. You can't point your finger at a one single event and say, That's it.
Speaker: That's the whole problem right there. It's just... heavy. It's an unnamed heaviness that settles deep into your bones.
Speaker: because the weight of everything in our lives and everything going on in the world world around us. has become too much to carry on our own.
Speaker: If that's where you find yourself today. I don't want to rush past that space. I'm not going to hand you a tidy superficial phrase in the next 30 seconds. and tell you to just cheer up.
Speaker: or have more positive vibes. Let's actually sit right here in this quiet space together for a second.
Speaker: Have you ever felt spiritually stuck? Like you're going through the motions. maybe even the exact right motions. Praying showing up. Trying your best.
Speaker: but absolutely nothing feels like it's moving inside your spirit. The songwriting mirrors this feeling directly. describing a place where every single door you reach for is locked tight.
Speaker: And every hopeful spark is completely gone. When you reach that low point, The song gives voice to a cry thrown out into the silence. Is there any anyone?
Speaker: I think that might be one of the most honest prayers a human being can do. possibly pray. It's not polished. It's not theologically neat or packaged for a Sunday morning presentation.
Speaker: It's just a raw, desperate question. thrown out into a real echoing silence. And here's what I want you to know before we go any further today. That question does not offend God.
Speaker: It doesn't push him away from you. If anything. I believe that raw, unfiltered honesty is exactly the place where he loves to meet us. He doesn't need our... performances.
Speaker: He wants our hearts. When we find ourselves trapped in that paralyzed state, The temptation is to hide away in isolation. We convince ourselves.
Speaker: that our fragile faith is a failure. What true fellowship? means standing together in the downpour. Admitting that our human strength is completely spent.
Speaker: and waiting on a rescue we cannot manufacture. for ourselves.
Speaker: right when we feel completely alone. beneath our heavy questions. The song takes a gentle turn into the pre -chorus. The lyrics describe a whisper in the quiet.
Speaker: As gentle as a breeze. where a name we never truly knew reaches deep inside of us. It is the unhurried comfort of his voice. reminding us of who He is.
Speaker: There is a powerful message in the Psalms. that describes exactly what happens when we reach the absolute end of our own strength in the middle of a storm. When we turn to the Old Testament scriptures,
Speaker: and Psalm 107 Verses 13 and 14 The Word of God anchors us. with this truth. They cried out to the Lord in their trouble. He saved them out of their distresses.
Speaker: He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death. and broke their bonds apart.
Speaker: Notice the order of events there. They didn't fix themselves first. They didn't clean up their lives or put on a fake smile. for reaching out. They simply cried out from the middle of their trouble.
Speaker: And he met them right inside the shadow of death to break their chains. When we place our trust in Christ, Our security is anchored into something far greater.
Speaker: than our current circumstances. Our standing with God. isn't based on whether we can keep our heads above water this week. It's resting entirely.
Speaker: on the finished work of what Jesus already did for us. It's a done deal. And because that foundation is permanent, The world can't rewrite or snatch you out of his hands.
Speaker: just because you're going for a heavy downpour.
Speaker: We find this absolute assurance and bold confidence echoed. beautifully by the prophets. In the book of Micah chapter 7 verse 8, The scripture declares,
Speaker: Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. Though I fall, I will rise. Though I dwell all in darkness, The Lord is a light to me.
Speaker: Look closely at what that verse says. It admits the reality of the fall. It doesn't deny that there are seasons where we act. dwell in the darkness. completely weighed down by the world.
Speaker: But it promises that the darkness doesn't get the final say. Because the Lord himself. becomes our light right inside the shadows. That distinction is everything.
Speaker: Because it is so easy to fall into the trap of thinking. that if her faith was just a little stronger, the clouds would instantly part. But grace doesn't promise us an exemption from the downpour.
Speaker: It guarantees us a faithful shelter. right in the middle of it. Our security with him is a free gift. completely independent of how well we are holding things together.
Speaker: or how clean our performance looks. He doesn't stand on the dry bank yelling instructions at us. He steps right into the rising waters. to pull us close and remind that the storm doesn't get the final word.
Speaker: When that truth hits your soul, The chorus of the song dynamically opens up. The lyrics celebrate the feeling of your spirit being lifted up out of the dark and cold.
Speaker: And his love suddenly... It feels like a river. rushing straight through your soul. It's like a heavy veil was torn. and the scales fell completely from your eyes And suddenly...
Speaker: in an instant. The entire world is beautifully reframed in a brand new light. Peace gets permanently written on your heart. You feel entirely brand new.
Speaker: And you realize. that with every single breath you take from that moment on, Your hope for tomorrow is securely found in Him.
Speaker: That image? from the chorus of scales falling from someone's eyes, comes directly from Scripture. It's borrowed from a beautiful story in the book of Acts.
Speaker: or a man's physical sight and his entire understanding of his life's purpose. was completely reoriented. after a radical encounter with God.
Speaker: It wasn't just his physical eyes opening. It was everything being beautifully reframed. by the final authority of Jesus Christ and his word.
Speaker: Jesus talks directly about this kind of shift too. when declaring his identity to the crowds. in the New Testament and the Gospel of John. Chapter 8, Verse 12 He proclaims,
Speaker: I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will not walk in the darkness. but we'll have the light of light. and a bit later. in that same conversation.
Speaker: In verse 32, He adds, and you will know that truth. and the truth will set you free.
Speaker: Free from what though? I think. practically speaking. It means being free from constantly performing okayness. for everyone around you. In the second verse of the song,
Speaker: The thoughts and feelings behind the lyrics shift. into a deeply personal space. where God reveals himself through the center of the pain. The lyrics talk about how stories of his kindness literally wash away our shame.
Speaker: We reach out for him with trembling hands. And instead of pushing us away, He holds us close. All those heavy fears and earthly pressures that used to chain us down.
Speaker: completely crumble at the mention of his name. In the quiet moments, His steady voice whispers truth. that sets the captive free. And suddenly...
Speaker: right where there used to be adult eight. There's joy. If you're carrying heavy shame, The suffocating sense that if people really knew the real you, they'd walk away.
Speaker: The Apostle Paul outlines our true spiritual standing. In 2 Corinthians 5, verse 17, he writes, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
Speaker: He is a new creature. The old things passed away. Behold new things have come.
Speaker: That's not saying your past didn't happen. It's not erasing your history. It's saying your past no longer gets to hold the gavel or dictate. who you are. This song is about a profound shift in perspective.
Speaker: The realization that when we stop hiding our scars in the dark, and bring them to Him. The truth doesn't condemn us. It completely untathers us.
Speaker: The lyrics describe our Burton's actively growing lighter. The heavy shadows rolling by. And the beautiful reality that when we walk side by side with him.
Speaker: Our spirits can finally fly out from under the crushing weight of the world.
Speaker: Okay. I want to get really practical for a few minutes. Because I don't think faith is meant to just live in our heads as an abstract concept. It's meant to show up on a Tuesday afternoon.
Speaker: right when your chest feels incredibly tight. Your spirit feels completely weighed down. And you don't know what to do with the static light.
Speaker: If you are feeling entirely stuck, beneath the pressures of your week. The New Testament gives us a direct practical command. In the book of Philippians chapter 4, Verses 6 and 7.
Speaker: The scripture instructs us, Do not be anxious for anything. but in everything. by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving. Let your requests be known to God.
Speaker: and the peace of God. which surpasses all comprehension will guard your heart. and minds in Christ Jesus.
Speaker: Name one reel heavy weight honestly to God today in personal prayer. Instead of a vague, superficial, Help me. Open up the pages of the Word of God on your own.
Speaker: Read it for yourself. and let the scriptures speak directly into your current situation.
Speaker: But I want to stretch us even further today. Fervent prayer and reading the word are complete. completely essential. but they were never meant to be done in total isolation.
Speaker: If you are completely isolated by the demands around you, Reach out to other believers today. We were never designed by our Creator to fight these heavy spiritual battles alone on an island.
Speaker: We were meant to assemble together.
Speaker: When we are struggling, We desperately need to be surrounded by the Holy Spirit moving at for God's people. If you don't have a home church,
Speaker: I want to strongly suggest you ask Actively begin searching for one this week. Find a local body of believers where you can show up. Link arms. and be covered in prayer. when your own voice fails.
Speaker: seeking out that corporate fellowship. isn't an option for the Christian law. It's exactly what Living Out Faith looks like in practice. As the song moves into the bridge,
Speaker: The lyrics paint a vivid picture. of a spiritual sunrise. where the sky is beautifully painted with hope. And every single step becomes brighter as we learn to let go of the weight. screen we're never meant to carry alone.
Speaker: We stop hiding our brokenness from our community. community. We allow him to mend every single broken piece. We try to keep covered up. and our hearts start beating louder.
Speaker: alive and open wide. It's a beautiful, unhurried promise. where the song reminds us that he whispers softly into our quiet spaces.
Speaker: Child. You are mine. The blindness of being stuck. It's completely broken. We see him. And through his eyes.
Speaker: We see everything differently. We gain an unshakable hope for tomorrow. Because we are no longer carrying the world on our own. Let the music lead us straight into that place of shared surrender.
Speaker: I see this
Speaker: when our blindness. is finally broken. And we step out of the dark into this brand new perspective. we quickly realize that we aren't meant to navigate this bright new path by ourselves.
Speaker: Stepping into his light always means stepping into his community. God doesn't just mend our broken pieces. so we can sit along on a shelf. He restores us.
Speaker: so we can take our place right alongside the rest of the body.
Speaker: The church gave us the absolute blueprint for what it looks like to live out this new life. shoulder to shoulder. completely anchored in the Word. In prayer.
Speaker: and true covenant assembly. When we look at the New Testament inside the book of Acts. Chapter 2 Verses 42 and 46. The scripture states,
Speaker: They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching. and to fellowship. To the breaking of bread and to prayer. day by day. Continuing with one mind in the temple.
Speaker: and breaking bread from house to house. They were taking their meals together with gladness. and sincerity apart.
Speaker: noticed that they were continually devoting themselves to these things together. It wasn't an occasional checklist item. It was daily. Shared Reality.
Speaker: where they were surrounded by the Holy Spirit and God's people. They gathered in the temple. and they met in each other's homes. That is exactly what finding a home church is all about.
Speaker: It is finding a family where you can be known. protected. and anchored when the storms of life hit hard.
Speaker: As we prepare to close, I pray this. blessing from the book of romans chapter 15 verse 13 over your week Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.
Speaker: so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker: not the absence of every hard thing. but a hope that holds steady right in the middle of it.
Speaker: Let's pause where we are. reach out across our digital space. and bring all of our stormy, heavy seasons directly to the Lord and prayer. Lord Jesus,
Speaker: You are the light of the world. We thank you that when the rain clouds gather, and the night feels impossibly long? Your light is never truly extinguished.
Speaker: Thank you for the truth behind the music we talked through today. The promise that you mend every piece we tried to hide. and whisper that we belong to you.
Speaker: We pray for the person listening who feels entirely depleted today. trying to navigate this deep Suffocating worldly weights alone? Meet them in their weariness.
Speaker: Draw them back to your word. and into a vibrant life of prayer. Lord, open doors for them. to find a biblical home church. where they can assemble with your people and be surrounded by the Holy Spirit.
Speaker: Give them the grace to lay down their heavy burdens of performance. strivings and isolation. Let your true peace guard their hearts and minds this week. In your beautiful, life -giving name we pray.
Speaker: Right. Amen.
Speaker: Thanks so much for spending this time with me. If today's fellowship meant something to your heart, Consider sharing it with someone who might need to hear it. wherever you are in your story today.
Speaker: Have your rain. the quiet in between. or the brand new light. I hope you know you're not walking through it alone.

Speaker: I read every single post. and it's a beautiful way for us to protect one another. and stay surrounded by God's people throughout the week. Next Thursday, the journey shifts once again.
Speaker: as we dive into track five of the album. Make us new. exploring the transformative grace that repairs what we thought was gone. forever.
Speaker: Take care of yourself. and take heart. God bless.
