So it's heartbreak for Roma who lose the Europa League final on a penalty shootout to Sevilla, but in my opinion, Carlo, I think Roma were the better side and didn't deserve to lose.
Speaker: Oh, absolutely. I find it incredible the number of people that are actually saying with a straight face that Sevilla deserved to win this final. I don't know what match they were watching because Roma had four clear chances in this game, only scored one. Sevilla didn't have a single clear chance in 150 minutes if you include all the injury time that was played. All they had was a long shot that hit the post from Rakitic and they scored with an own goal.
Speaker: It's clear that Roma deserved to win the game, but just the luck wasn't with them. They didn't put their chances away. Tammy Abraham and Bellotti were very, very disappointing. The referee is up for discussion.
Speaker: But even coming to the penalty shootout, we had Sevilla winning the toss of coin, meaning they could take the penalties in front of their own fans and taking the first penalty kick. And we know that whenever you take the first penalty kick, generally you win. So everything just didn't go for Roman. I feel so sorry for them and to see Diabala cry and it was very, very sad.
Speaker: Anthony Taylor, the referee, has been absolutely hammered by Roma fans, and Jose Mourinho said that he robbed Roma of the trophy. Yeah, I saw that. I disagree with the robbing part. I do, however, agree 100 % that I think Anthony Taylor was very inconsistent. I think the two penalty or the three penalty situations, I think the VAR got right, saving Anthony Taylor.
Speaker: But Eric LaMela should have been sent off for two bookable offences and I don't understand why he wasn't, especially given the sheer amount of yellow cards that Taylor was showing to pretty much every single Roma player there and on the bench. And also the encroachment rule with the goalkeepers on penalty shootouts, that is just, that needs to be changed.
