Speaker: Hi, I'm Alan Finger. Welcome to the Genius of Nothing podcast. Nothing is no particular thing.

Speaker: It's all things at once. Genius.

Speaker: Hello everyone. This is the Genius of Nothing podcast. I'm Katrina Repka here in London and I'm with Sebastian Forsman in Stockholm.

Speaker: Hello and good evening. And Alan Finger in Florida. Namaste. Welcome all. And it's been a crazy week from all sorts of different perspectives.

Speaker: um We might have a meteor hurtling towards so Earth. The political landscape is very polarized. My sister was in an earthquake in Victoria, British Columbia, which is so random.

Speaker: So, yeah so there are all these things happening and it's feels a little unusual how crazy it is these days, but actually a ton of stuff is always happening all the time to everyone in the world. And it's hard to sometimes keep our bearings, especially since the news cycle is so rapid and we're getting so much of it.

Speaker: So we thought we'd talk a little bit today about, um first of all, how to keep yourself centered in the face of all of this assaulting information, but also how we can come together And we might meet somebody who has a very different view from our own, or, you know, we want to try to harmonize the energy of the planet, um which might sound a little crazy coming from me.

Speaker: ah saying that, but we are going to talk a little bit about what it means to get funky with energy and how we can use our energetic vibration to uplift global consciousness.

Speaker: So that's our special episode today. owl do you want to start talking ah about some of the interesting ideas um around that?

Speaker: Yeah, well, you know, we are part of an evolutionary force, as we know, and that's kind of science. And there is an intelligence that actually governs how things manifest in our entire cosmos, let alone just our planet.

Speaker: But there is a different kind of intelligence that governs all of this, that governs how the very atomic world that we do live in comes about.

Speaker: So there are tools that the ancient rishis saw, the seers from tantra and yoga, And they all tuned in to very powerful tools that we can use to change the consciousness, to to make it happen more smoothly.

Speaker: so um one of the most one of the powerful tools is mantra Because sound is a vibration. And if enough people can use a mantra, I put one together specifically for these times, to help us to...

Speaker: add harmony and homeostasis to the planet because when we hear things and we get angry and fed up at what some people are saying and there's always two sides to the story But when we hear we and naturally do that, that doesn't really help heal things or move things along.

Speaker: So I, again, put together mantra to help with that, which we'll share in a minute. But are there any other questions from Sebastian and...

Speaker: Well, think that um just earlier today i was reading a book about an artist and we were talking about, it was talking about Marie Curie and her um Nobel Prize and how she...

Speaker: um was you know able to isolate different chemical compounds. And I always think with you that one of the things that has helped me to sort of trust in the experience of this and make it a little more real is seeing some of the videos on YouTube where there's salt put over different frequencies and you can see the patterns that it creates.

Speaker: but also the idea that all of this information, like with Marie Curie, like that information was there in the universe, but she discovered it because she had the means and the, you know, the technology to do it. And that we're at a certain point in time where we may be limited in what our understanding of the world is that that to a certain degree that helps me think, okay, well, I have to trust in this process because actually we might discover the scientific explanation for something that we thought was just more woo-woo when we have the means to be able to understand it differently. Yeah.

Speaker: Okay, so wait, wait. Did you mean that you thought that mantras were a little gubbity goo? Well, I think it really helped me to see those YouTube videos, which we can link to, which show how when you put salt on different frequencies and different vibrations... you put and treat yeah you put the salt they put the salt onto a rubber membrane and underneath the membrane is a speaker at that they put certain sounds through.

Speaker: And the sound vibrates the membrane and the salt jumps into different patterns. And so you really start to see the power of sound, how different sounds make shifts, different patterns of energy.

Speaker: And in Sanskrit, in Tantra, those are called yantras. So mantra is sound, and yantra is that what it's doing, how it shapes the energy.

Speaker: So yes, it's an amazing thing. And ah if Katrina and Sebastian put that up, so you can all see it, it's really amazing. Okay, so what we're talking about here is really something called somatics.

Speaker: And it's actually nothing new, actually. This was actually created by a man called Hans Jenny in, i think this was like the 20s or 30s. And he did all these kind of funky experiments with salt on membrane plates and vibrations and other kind of materials and how they kind of, you know, interacted with each other.

Speaker: And he kind of found also that the higher the vibration was, the more complex the pattern became. And we can kind of see this in nature too, taking, you know, like a snowflake is like this.

Speaker: They're beautiful. They, this really complex pattern when you look under a microscope at it and none of them are the same, but the snowflake is just basically vibration altering material through resonance.

Speaker: That's all it is. And because we see this all over nature, you kind of start to understand that everything is kind of vibration. And you know, when everything is vibration, then everything is also linked together.

Speaker: You just see how vibration affects, you can also see it with water, um how vibration affects water. And so I think that we have, as you say, Al, like a very limited set of five senses with which we understand the world. And that actually so much of this is acting beyond us.

Speaker: And it's really powerful. And so i because when we say the mantra, I think it's going to sound a little bit like, whoa, that's a lot.

Speaker: But if we break it down, and then you understand that the vibration has a particular meaning, and a particular effect, um then it becomes more real, I think, for people.

Speaker: It's interesting what you said in the beginning about how different vibration affects water. And I have a video that we can link below that actually shows how when when you put actually vibration into running water, how it can change how it curves and you can bend it and do all these kind of funky things, which seems impossible.

Speaker: And then you kind of start thinking about that. Oh, wait a minute. We actually consist of about 80% of water. So it's not hard to theorize that, of course... you know, different vibrations have huge effect on us if it has that kind of effect on water.

Speaker: And the Rishis kind of knew this from, you know, from thousands of years ago, but it's now the technology and our way to understand it is actually catching up more and more, which is kind of amazing.

Speaker: And the crazy thing is we see it in even in nature. And there was an article in the BBC saying, not that long ago that actually were talking about that new research about cats purrs that the purring of a cat has healing frequency and we know that just because it's it's the same kind of frequency that is used in therapeutic ultrasounds that they use at hospitals to kind of heal wounds for you know yeah for pain reduction and for circulation and stimulation cell regeneration and all these kind of great things and and and the cats they theorize that the cats kind of do that to themselves actually

Speaker: like a healing tool so i guess either you just do the mantras or you can just strap a whole bunch of cats to you i'm allergic to cats unfortunately well yeah then i'm sorry that you're screwed

Speaker: Well, the beauty of it is that we're showing from all that Sebastian's saying how what Katrina initially said, it might sound woo-woo. What was the other thing you said?

Speaker: i'm Crazy. At the beginning? That shit? Something like that. He had another word for it. and of course And of course, these things, because...

Speaker: Without science, way it is woo-woo. But fortunately today, we have science kind of looking into all of this and we're beginning to see, oh my God, this isn't woo-woo.

Speaker: This is magical because we can alter the way energy manifests. And really, that is the science of mantra.

Speaker: I think something really funky is that you can kind of feel different vibrations in your body through music really. And you can kind of do this experiment at home. you know, when you were listen to rock and roll or more heavy, it something with bass and heavier, you kind of feel that more in your pelvic region, like your muladhara, your base of your spine almost.

Speaker: And if you go up to classical music, you feel that more, you know, anahata, more the heart region, more like feeling much more peaceful. And then you go off to Indian music or mantras that are more meant to kind of move the energy up to the crown and, you know, have... Up into your head, yeah. Exactly.

Speaker: Do you think there's something might be wrong wrong with me that I really don't enjoy the sound of a tin flute in those like new age recordings? It really bugs me.

Speaker: now Well, we one shouldn't comment on that. I'm going to take this offline. so So are you okay with the sitar? I don't know. It's kind of not as okay as I'd like to be probably.

Speaker: great Well, that's also conditioning, you know, we condition to certain sounds. And so when we hear others, it's a little woo-woo. But different societies, have different cultures have different instruments and different sounds.

Speaker: yeah And you know what? They're all good. They're all there. to move energy. And as Sebastian was saying and quoting me, the different sounds vibrate different at different levels in your body.

Speaker: So if you make a very bass sound that goes down to the lower chakras and a very high-pitched sound goes to your crown chakra and asana, and you in the mid-brain.

Speaker: So I think what we should do is now look at what we can do to help create homeostasis and protection, and we can do it through sound.

Speaker: So I've really put together a string of sounds, mantras, in order to do this. And I'll share with you what each sound means.

Speaker: It might seem all lot at first because it's foreign, but you will get the feeling of it once you start doing it and owning it. The mantra, the full mantra, Om Shiva Har Bambam Bole.

Speaker: Sharavana Bhava Swaha Om Shanti Shanti Shanti. We will put this up for you so you can actually have it and see it written.

Speaker: And you want to repeat it three to nine times during the day.

Speaker: Om Shivahar means surrendering to the force of Shiva. That force which is no no name Shiva means, which is kind of unbound.

Speaker: from which the atomic plane is created. Om Shiva Har.

Speaker: Bam Bam invokes the forces of change. Bole channels the power of Shiva to bring homeostasis and protection into this plane of existence.

Speaker: Om Shiva Har. Bam Bam Bole. Sharavana Bhava is a deity in Hinduism, but it's put as an image for religion.

Speaker: But it came about from these sounds. Sa attracts people to your side to and together. Ra brings wealth and prosperity into life.

Speaker: Va dissolves competition, diseases, and karmic debts. Na removes negative energy.

Speaker: Ba, attraction through the force of love. Va stops negativity, hate, and evil forces.

Speaker: bhava, power to change how karma manifests into dharma, how the forces that are creating our entire plane and planet and universe and cosmos, how that those forces manifest into everyday living of working it out.

Speaker: Swaha is to activate it. And om shanti, shanti, shanti. Shanti is peace. So shanti, peace from yourself, peace with others, and peace with the very forces of the universe.

Speaker: So there's the whole mantra. Om shivahar,

Speaker: It's going to save the world. Yeah. want it We want to change the vibrations that are creating all the things that Katrina and Sebastian were talking about.

Speaker: Earthquakes, politics, what else? i think that's enough. I mean, I think that's enough. Yeah, war, an asteroid hitting us. War.

Speaker: a all of these things. We are trying to shift the energy on the subtle level to create more peace and harmony. I've never had a mantra with a bum bum before, so that's pretty cool.

Speaker: That's pretty cool

Speaker: cool. So it's it is spelt a little differently. I'm such a child. I'm sorry. Uh-huh.

Speaker: So Al, I think would be good if you perhaps sang the mantra because it is a little complicated for some people and I think the pronunciation can be tricky sometimes. So would you like to sing it?

Speaker: Om Shivahar Bambambole

Speaker: So early today, I was kind of thinking about mantras and coming from a cognitive and neuroscience background, was thinking about that mantras has this amazing ability to help so us to help us to shift our, you know, our spotlight of our mind, of our consciousness, really, that we tend to usually focus on negative things. Like, because we have, you know, all these news about, you know, geopolitics, like Katrina was saying, meteors coming twirling towards earth and you know if if you're a plumber or or a graphic designer that's you know it's not very much you're going to be able to do about that so that stresses out a lot and we feel disconnected from the world and like we can't do anything and you know we're just long for the ride but what mantras do so well is they kind of shift that around and want to put back the focus on what can we actually do what can we change however small or minute that even is

Speaker: Because then you can start building that change and be that change that you want to see in the world. And that's really an amazing part about mantra that kind of helps your perhaps you to strengthen your mental resistance against, you know, stressors from outside that you're focusing on what you can change, not what you cannot change.

Speaker: Well, that's a normal way that everyone does and forms more opposition, more sides, and more disharmony. So this is a way to try and create harmony.

Speaker: So you're trying to bring out the best in those that are governing. You're trying to bring bring out... harmony and peace from those that are opposing it so that we can come to the most clear and mag magnificent way of dealing with things.

Speaker: So let me ask you guys this. Why do you think that during the 60s and 70s, as the Vietnam War was going on, we had this opposition of of people who used music and vibration and the Four Flower Power Movement to alter politics and change the war and ultimately end the war, which it did.

Speaker: But why don't we see anything anything you like that today at all? So things work like that. they' They work in like a pendulum. And they tend to swing to one side, which was then, they're told songs and everything.

Speaker: And then it swings to the other side, which is strength and power and control. And the pendulum swings. So to make it stand still, so things can happen most efficiently or sway minimally,

Speaker: These two are tools to do that. And to add to that, I'm going to even throw in Brahmastra Mudra. There's a hand gesture, yeah which Brahma, Brahman is the greater universal intelligence, infinite.

Speaker: Astra is a weapon.

Speaker: So Brahmastra mudra is a mudra with your hands where you hold your thumbs, you put your fold your thumb into a like under the other fingers, and you put the part ah then between the nale and the to the the knock the top knuckle and the second knuckle of all the fingers together and you put your hands like that into the solar plexus region.

Speaker: And then you do the mantra with that mudra. Now we have a cosmic weapon.

Speaker: We add power to the mantra to really enforce this change into our plane. And we could put a picture of that. You're giving us a lot of work to do here to source these YouTube videos and stuff, but you did send the photo of the mantra, so we can add that in as well to the show notes.

Speaker: Yeah. And what do you think if this all feels just too overwhelming? I kind of like Om Shanti Shanti Shanti, like peace with yourself, peace with others. That is the mantra of peace. Peace with the universe.

Speaker: Yeah. Peace out. So that's how it started. Mm-hmm. And then I wanted to make it a little more um powerful and little more complicated suited to all the things that are going on today.

Speaker: So I added all the rest in. But you could start with Om Shanti Shanti Shanti and use even the mudra, the hand gestures.

Speaker: So Al, you said that you should do it about three to nine times. Is that accurate? Or should you do it more or less? Or how many times should you do it really in day? Oh, you can do it as much as you want.

Speaker: the The three to nine is kind of like, okay, minimum. And to try and get as many people to do this, to really invoke the change. So I think some people might wonder, you know, am I doing it right? Am I supposed to feel something special when I'm doing this? And we tend to be a little more perfectionists when we sing and do these kind of things, me included. So could you speak to that a little bit of how how we should, you know, think of it as well doing it?

Speaker: You just chant the sounds so those aren't right or wrong. But as I said, we'll send out with all the things broken down. And basically, Om Shivahar surrendering to the force of Shiva.

Speaker: Bam Bam invokes the forces of change. Bole channels the power of Shiva to bring homeostasis and protection into this plane. Then...

Speaker: Think of Sharavana Bhava is that string of sounds that's going to create, like in an orchestra, the music to work in harmony to do what, to create peace.

Speaker: And to create the most graceful way for change to happen. Because everything is changing all the time. And so if you just think, I'm trying to make it easier. Om Shivahar, you tune to the the subtle forces.

Speaker: Bam Bam Bole. You're going to channel in these forces for Sharavana Bhava to make the changes so that we can feel Om Shanti Shanti Shanti peace.

Speaker: Peace with ourselves, peace with others, and peace with the very forces of nature and the universe.

Speaker: And Al, can I just ask, because you said you know you you kind of made this up. like people There are tons of books on mantra, and you could Google it and stuff, but this mantra won't be found because this is your creation. And how do you create a mantra?

Speaker: um That you have to come for a course. You've both got ton with me. Yeah. You know, you're tuning to sound and you know basic.

Speaker: I have lists of sounds and their qualities and you feel them. Normally, what I do when it's a mantra for a person specifically, i feel their pulse.

Speaker: And in their pulse, I see what the mantra creates to change in different levels of the pulse. And so I balanced string of sounds to individuals.

Speaker: Here I had to do it to the greater intelligence.

Speaker: So I think it's really good for people to really understand how to learn mantras or how we learn mantras. For me, example, I tend to learn the words first, how to pronounce it correctly or in the way that should be pronounced and then understanding the meaning of it. And that really, when I understand the meaning of it, it all kind of comes together. And that's very individual. But for me, that's that's that's when the magic happens. But you see, Sebastian is that kind of person. Yeah.

Speaker: Who wants to understand, so am That's why I break it up for you. But many other people just chant the sound. And they say, okay, that's the mantra to you, it's all right. And they just chant the sound and feel the vibration and put it out there.

Speaker: Sebastian likes the scientific. Katrina, what do you like? Oh, God. um I just like to believe. I don't really, I mean, i like to believe, but I don't really believe, so.

Speaker: Yeah, but that's why I couldn't didn't talk for Katrina. Katrina, couldn't talk for. I thought she better talk for herself. Bye.

Speaker: So Al, I remember you told me once that doesn't matter the word really. If if you could just sing Pepsi and and with if you do it with the right intention, it could be like the most powerful mantra ever for you.

Speaker: But it's that intention behind it that's to really the thing. so that's why usually mantras are not something you just make up yourself, but they're initiated by the guru, the teacher,

Speaker: to the student because it has to part with them, into them, what the essence is for them to feel. so yeah, you could take anything because, you know, look, most of the stuff,

Speaker: we're talking about is just from evolution and man-made. So it's kind of hard because really ultimately we're trying to get back to something where we can just feel presence.

Speaker: And here with this mantra, we are trying to get our presence to resonate and bring harmony into our planet and our environment.

Speaker: and our leaders, and our political parties.

Speaker: And I think also there are different ways of getting to that clear balance state. And so, you know, mantra might not be the easiest way for some people to get there.

Speaker: Like, I feel like I certainly get there. I just get there in my own way. And I like to do this for the universe because, you know, I'm that kind of gal. but Yeah, well, sorry, Katrina, I just want to interject here. I'm not saying that you use mantra specifically to create mantra.

Speaker: that balance, I'm saying you for the mantra to work, you want to have the balance because that's that's what makes it work most efficiently.

Speaker: So, yeah, no. So it's not like you have to do mantra for yourself to become in tune with the greater forces or the subtle forces. And that can be seen in that book that I read, one book I read called Siddhartha,

Speaker: By Herman Haas. Yes. Great book. Yeah. And he went to all over and studied and Buddhas and this and that. And he got miraculous powers, but he didn't get.

Speaker: And when he was going home on the boat, something like this, the war the boatsman says to him, I'll just give up all that. Listen to the water. And he goes into Samadhi.

Speaker: Yeah, I remember you talking about it and you really got me hooked on that book because I really liked it. And then I started to do a little research about him. and like He's he's a German guy. He lived like in the 1910, something like that.

Speaker: And he traveled all over the India and ah china and all these kind of places and it's it's really an amazing book and the fact that he wrote it in the 20s is just incredible um it's the only book i read and took me five years to read so yeah well you might need to update my story Well, I think I have like four books in me in total. So I'm not that far behind. And I'm pretty sure two of those books were like picture books for kids. So it's so incredible to me, given that I probably read at least like two or three books a week that you've only ever read one book.

Speaker: And it's not like a judgment. It's just, ah oh, my God, people can be so different and have such different experiences. And my mind is so different from yours. And I've read Siddhartha, but I don't remember a single thing about it.

Speaker: But it really affected you, the one book you did read. So it's just so fascinating that we're all so different.

Speaker: you know what You know what the weirdest thing is? We can even see our mind because Katrina said, you know, all our minds are different. We can see what our mind is. We see our senses, our physical body, but we can't see our mind.

Speaker: We can't see our intellect. And those things, The mind and the intellect can be explored and experienced per individual. And so different practices, actions will lead different people to feel what the pure mind is.

Speaker: The pure mind is a mind that doesn't have any vritti, any modification, any thought going through it. Because the thoughts are very temporary and passing and changing.

Speaker: so So it's hard to know who you even are really, unless you still yourself.

Speaker: I'm gonna give you guys, um I really loved Hess's book, Damien. So if you'd like a second book to read in this lifetime, it's very good. i had a bit of a kick on him.

Speaker: A good one for Sebastian to read. Yeah, just a question. Does it have a lot of pictures in it?

Speaker: We can maybe make this, I mean, obviously not into like um ah book club. The slowest book club in history. Five years later, we learned one book.

Speaker: I think when you come to the book, when you, I nearly fell asleep. I nearly fell asleep with your book club. I think that podcast you don't need me for. Are you getting bored, Al? Like, am I boring you?

Speaker: Are you boring you? right, well, let's end it there then. Rock and roll. yeah um One time. Shivahar Bambambole Sharavanabhava Swaha Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Namaste.

Speaker: Namaste. Namaste. Peace and love.

Speaker: Thank you for joining us today and have a super wonderful week. Namaste.
