So if there is a feeling in the marketplace among buyers that they want to, you know, scrutinize their budgets, or they want to not spend right now as they were doing two years, two years ago, I think that consultants should, you know, look at their offerings and structure the offerings differently. I'm always of the opinion that in any consulting engagement, you want to start off with

During the good times, I was selling full blown fractional CMO offerings and the prices for that were very good. I'm sensing that the market's shifting. If you're doing the work and you're not selling, then your pipeline goes dry. If you're just selling all the time, then you don't have any time to do the work. I wanted to get your take on the idea of riches are in the niches.

Here's the thing, to have some kind of a marketing plan to grow your business, you have to kind of niche down and you have to understand and you have to pick your target customer. should create. And first of all, I'm a big proponent of, of content. Let's just go back from the, go back, go back to the, you know, the beginning of our industry, right? Like right from the time our industry started.

a few decades ago. There are two ways consultants land clients. Number one is referrals, and number two is content. In those days, content was articles and trade publications, speaking engagements at chambers of commerce, writing books and getting published. All of that stuff is content. The higher ticket you go in consulting, the more you get into that trusted advisor space.

And when you get in that trusted advisor space, the thing that matters is that people need to trust you. You need to have a reputation behind you. And you build a reputation two ways. One is you get great results for your clients. And number two is that you put out content and education that tells the market that you know what you're talking about. You not only have to create content, but you also have to think about how do you grow your network. And when I say network, it's your potential readers and your potential clients, right? So if you have a huge network and it's a captive audience, you can get away with posting very little content. But if you have a smaller network, then you've got to kind of calibrate your content to

I always say this to my clients, take on the role of an educator as a teacher, because as a consultant, you have expertise in a specific domain. So as a content creator, you want to create those reasons that buyers should have to hire you. And the way you do that is create, first of all, a compelling reason to change. And following that, you want to talk about, as I mentioned a little while earlier, you want to talk about, you want to demonstrate that you understand their world. Evaluating Expertise and Embracing Sales

The way I do it is I do a four plus one. I've always done it. I've been doing this for a very long time, Monday to Thursday.
