Introduction and Contestant Intros

00:00:37
Speaker
How's it going, everyone? Welcome to another episode of Soapstone. My name is Jake. I'm joined tonight by our three contestants for a special game show episode. What's that game? Animal Crossing edition. Our first contestant tonight is Dave. How's it going tonight, Dave? I'm a co-host, yes. You may have heard of him.
00:01:03
Speaker
All right, I've got some questions here. Just learn a little bit more about you. What's your favorite game, Dave? I'm going to say Undertale right now. Right now it's Undertale. You wrote the question. How did you hear about the show?
00:01:23
Speaker
At one point you said like, what if we did like, what if I had like a podcast? And I said, no balls. And here we are. That's accurate. That is accurate. And my final question here is, what's the recommended amount of de-deditated WAM that I should add to my server? At least eight gigs. Eight gigs. Nice, nice. Sounds good. That's Dave.

Favorite Games and First Show Memories

00:01:49
Speaker
Next up we have
00:01:52
Speaker
Mango or Jenny? I go with Jenny. We're doing first names. Jenny, what is your favorite game? Can I say the whole Pokemon series or do I have to pick a specific one? Because if we're going specifics, it's Pokemon Silver. No particular reason. I think I just played it the most.
00:02:16
Speaker
getting that late 90s, early 2000s cred with the original Pokemon, I get it. How did you hear about the show? I was sitting in the other room while you guys were recording, and I just listened to it. That's fair. You actually heard the show. That's how you heard about the show. I was actually the first live audience that you guys had, and I listened to it.
00:02:44
Speaker
Nice. So my question for you is if two trains leave Detroit at the same time and they're both going 50 miles per hour in opposite directions, what do you think that they were escaping from in Detroit? Probably an order number seven, extra fries, medium drink, and can we replace the tomato with olives?
00:03:08
Speaker
Hmm, interesting. Huh, I could see it. Our third and final contestant is Rachel. What is your favorite game, Rachel? Up top of my head, let's just say Persona 5, not R. Persona 5, oof, nice. That is a good game. Someday I'll make Dave play 100 hours of it so he can do an episode on it. At the very least. If he runs fast, yeah. How did you hear about Soapstone?
00:03:38
Speaker
I met both of you, and we're talking to both of you. That is how this has happened. That's fair. And my final question for you is, what is Bitcoin looking like these days? Should I invest? With the current state of things, Bitcoin now has a beard, looks okay. I think it looked better without. Nice, nice, nice.

Game Show Segment: Animal Crossing

00:04:03
Speaker
So yeah, that's our separate time.
00:04:08
Speaker
All right, now that we've gotten the semi-awkward one-on-one questions out of the way, we can get into the meat and potatoes of the entree that is the episode, which is where I will be asking questions about Animal Crossing. I will call on people. They can provide an answer if they can think of something. If not, they can pass it off to the next person. We'll do a little bit of discussion. And the winner at the end of it
00:04:33
Speaker
will be the listener for having been enriched by all of our collective experiences. How's that sound? I can't have potatoes. Can I sub that for rice? If you do sweet potatoes or something. If I can get sweet potato fries. Is there enough charge?
00:04:52
Speaker
I'm charged.

Hypothetical Discussions and Ideas

00:04:55
Speaker
We have not found a way to make money out of the podcast. If it's going to be podcast plus meals, I think Dave could probably do it.
00:05:05
Speaker
Wait, am I being fed the meals or am I providing people meals? We're providing the meals, but then we charge people. I thought we were charging Dave for the meals as he made them. I will eat this, but you have to pay me. Try that with my parents, never worked.

Unique Takes on Animal Crossing

00:05:23
Speaker
So the first question I have up here is, what's the deal with Animal Crossing? And we'll field that to Dave first.
00:05:32
Speaker
So Animal Crossing is a really fun roguelike in which you get to build and design a town, have fun interactions with your neighbors, and there's lots of cool event stuff that happens throughout the year, because it keeps track of system time. Would you guys agree with that? Rachel, would you say Animal Crossing's a roguelike? Pretty good roguelike? No. It's definitely an action adventure.
00:06:02
Speaker
But no, pretty much exactly that. It keeps you doing new things throughout the year, which makes it that if a day passes and I don't log on to the game, I start to sweat as the day continues on because I know I have chores to do.
00:06:18
Speaker
Yeah. Uh, no, that's, I can't empathize if it's something that, uh, I have to do things throughout the year. That's just too much for me, but, um, going to Jenny, uh, what's, what's the deal with animal crossing? I have a very different experience as I'm playing it much like bullet hell. So I feel like maybe I hit the rung.
