Speaker: Lobbingscorchers .com slash YouTube We got it I scored you today. No scorcher today. Wipe the scorcher today! Well, it's gonna be a scorcher.

Speaker: Good evening everybody and welcome to your post -match live. For the League's Cup. phase one finale. I am out here. at lumen field We're the Seattle Sounders.

Speaker: aka Tacoma Defiance. Just lost to Chivas Guadalajara. Two to one. We've got a lot to talk about. This evening, I'll be playing the Brian Schmetzer press conference shortly. We'll be hanging about hanging out. We'll be talking about what we just saw.

Speaker: Coping. rationalizing and talking about some positives I think because Honestly, it is another L for the Seattle Sounders, and they are eliminated from League's Cup officially.

Speaker: uh they We're already all but eliminated from League's Cup going into this game. It would have taken like a six goal victory. and help from like five other teams.

Speaker: in order for them to have a chance at advancing so that was probably Never going to happen. But now they are officially eliminated. so Shout out to Leagues Cup. Port one out.

Speaker: For League's Cup. You know, I've always said about League's Cup. It's not a real tournament anyway. So contrived. Cash grab. of the oligarch class. all right not a trophy that I put any stock in. unless Unless the Seattle Sounders are, of course, contending for it and winning it. In that case.

Speaker: It's the most important trophy that anyone plays for. But they are eliminated from League's Cup. The dream of repeating. is no more.

Speaker: I'm hearing some shuffling in the press conference room. Sorry. So I was, I was making sure that it wasn't getting started, but we will pull Schmetz up as soon. as he is talking, but the the dream of repeating.

Speaker: is no more. The focus. returns to league play but we do have one more league's cup game to analyze and this was ah You know.

Speaker: On the scale of Ls that this team has taken,

Speaker: over the... over the last few weeks.

Speaker: Sorry, sorry press ah press conference information press conference information

Speaker: Okay, presser's not starting yet. Where was I? On the scale of L's that this team has taken. over the last Six to eight games. of which there have been a lot. uh

Speaker: I would say there's probably the most dignity. In this L. for whatever that's worth. It might not be a worth a lot to some people. But I think to talk about this game.

Speaker: Uh, You you got to start with the with the lineup because this lineup was honestly it was pretty sick I'm not going to complain about the lineup tonight because... This is what I was kind of asking for them to do you're pretty much already eliminated from the tournament anyway.

Speaker: You just set a club record losing streak.

Speaker: You're not doing that well. All things considered. You may as well be putting out a lineup like this. This lineup was Stephen Fry, Jesus Ferreira.

Speaker: Osaze de Rosario. in Tacoma Defiance. And I thought that was, honestly, I don't know about you guys, but I thought the first half was pretty fun. First of all.

Speaker: ah The atmosphere and environment here tonight was... This was the most. like a road game. I have ever felt Lumen Field. for the Seattle Sounders.

Speaker: I don't know. Anyone else who was... who's here tonight, feel free to weigh in, but was that not an 80 -20? Split in favor of... Chivas? That's what it felt like to me.

Speaker: Which. was cool on one hand, on the other hand you know you don't necessarily want a game in your home stadium to feel like a road game. That's what this felt like. It felt like that for pretty much the entire game.

Speaker: And you could really feel it when Chivas scored, which they did twice. And they also had one that got disallowed for offside. That's. uh the crowd erupted as if they scored. And then they also didn't understand for like.

Speaker: Two or three minutes. that the golden count So they were cheering as if. They had scored. And. it may as well It may as well have been at their home stadium.

Speaker: it may as well have been at their home stadium. So that was interesting, if nothing else. It created an odd dynamic. And it must have been an odd game for the Sounders players to play in. Considering they're used to. having the crowd backing them.

Speaker: at this stadium and that was just not the case tonight

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker: Okay, they are starting the presser with Schmitz. So that is excellent news for me because I don't know how to mute like an individual tab. So I'm hearing everything they're telling us. But supposedly Schmetz is going to be there.

Speaker: in Just a few minutes. We'll pull the presser up. hear what he has to say. I think he's probably gonna be more or less. Not pleased with the result, but like...

Speaker: When you put that lineup out there. And they. Score the first goal. put themselves in position to take a result, I would say. I would say the novelty lineup of the of the kids.

Speaker: acquitted themselves about as well as you could hope for or expect. Aside from a... 10 to 15 minutes. Stretch in the second half.

Speaker: where it went off the rails a little bit. And that was the stretch where Chivas.

Speaker: scored scored their goals. But also, I mean, like, on the... on the equalizer. For instance. To me, that came at the end of a sequence where When you're absorbing pressure for that long.

Speaker: you're just, the the dam is going to break. eventually and that's the situation they were in the second half they couldn't keep the ball which we've seen a lot.

Speaker: All right. I think we got the Schmetz press. Hold on.

Speaker: Oh.

Speaker: Sorry, he said they're not ready there yet. they are discussing starting the press conference but they have not actually started yet It went off the rails in the second half. for a period of time.

Speaker: where they ended up conceding. Both of the goals, I believe. That lost them the game.

Speaker: But... If you're asking me about... The first half. And. the performance as a whole. I like some of what I saw.

Speaker: I liked what some of what I saw from... ah Tacoma Defiance. We had a ah Galantine. Sadness? Sadness? got A galley goal.

Speaker: There was a galley goal in the game. The Seattle Sounders scored the first goal of the match. Office set piece, which was nice to see. here we go

Speaker: why is that not Okay. sorry On tab.

Speaker: One second guys and on the press.

Speaker: questions I'll go ahead with the start with the Zoom. All right, let me know if this sounds okay. Hey, Brian, I just want to get your... your thoughts when you you shuffle the lineup Your overall...

Speaker: thought of what you thought about the performance of those players you came to shuffle the lineup And I get that you you lost the game, but technically... and the energy that they brought

Speaker: Thank God you didn't ask me it. Question about tactics. Oh, thank God. Because the story of this game... Is not the tactics, Moz. although we got those right.

Speaker: in many ways. You know, it depends on what you guys call tactics. You know, we so shifted in a 3 -4 -3, you know, said pieces were good. I mean, we didn't get a hold of the ball as much as we wanted to, but that's due to Chivas.

Speaker: pressing and we scored the early goal. But. What I told the team in there is that effort.

Speaker: Starting with the captain. And then it run through Charlie. Ryan Taylor, you know, Gallatin. Mark. Edson. You know, the guys that.

Speaker: aren't signed. And then Sailor and Stewie and Tino and Jesus and Osaze. I mean that's what it means to wear the jersey. That's what that means So.

Speaker: The way those guys fought. was the best thing about this evening yeah we didn't win I get it. But you got a kid Charlie who you know may or may not make it but he busted his ass there because he knew this was his shot You got Mark O 'Neill, who... Talented guy.

Speaker: I don't know if he's going to make it. but He knew he had an opportunity. And he gave everything. And Gallatin? And Edson lasted 90 minutes. I didn't think the kid was going to last 90 minutes. I didn't let i didn't think.

Speaker: tino because he started in midfield and he went out to left wing back There's a lot of storylines that you guys can. taste stuff.

Speaker: Goalkeeper of the tournament. i don't I don't know if there's a prize for that or a trophy or you know anything like that, but there' there's the example of a good pro. Comes to work every day.

Speaker: shows everybody that He's fucking extremely good at what he does. Woof. And that's the example that you want. Because that's going to take this franchise.

Speaker: further

Speaker: than any sort of TAM signing or anything like that, that effort. From that group of guys is going to get us. a long way. And it's going to continue to.

Speaker: be the basis of what this franchise stands for. We're in New Jersey.

Speaker: But. Coach, you mentioned that. the effort, the grit, the fight. how much. Do you think it's more helpful the first team is able to see that? from the side and is that going to be an example for the first team Trust me on that because I'm looking at guys that think they, you know, they're the first team. Looked them dead in the eye when I was talking.

Speaker: Coach, you know, coming into this game... Now the double pivot is there. uh coming into this game obviously you know you come in with the rotations you come in you know with these guys um You know what?

Speaker: Is kind of your message to this team before the game, or do you feel like they just came with what you've been talking about? here Well, we talked again about belief. of belief in themselves. you know the collective is there the good bunch of guys it's a great locker room but belief in themselves we we we challenge mark And Charlie.

Speaker: Gallatin. and edson in ryan you know because he wants to stick with the round and and seba to back up what he did the other night They got to believe in themselves.

Speaker: And so that was kind of the theme. I mean, we're trying to help them as best we could. A lot of the... education was film and we had a match day minus one training where we did some walkthroughs and got them organized.

Speaker: but they needed to believe in themselves. and believe that as a collective if they helped each other we'd have a chance to win

Speaker: So. Again, you know, you look at Chivas, they've had guys that were playing in the World Cup. three weeks ago. And we've got, you know, we've got Edson. who look pretty good.

Speaker: Inverted wear. Hey Charlie, right back. you know Mark, playing in the middle of the park, connecting a few passes, winning some duels. And then... We haven't talked about the subject, but then I put Peter Kingston on and, you know, Kim Keehee and some of those guys, those guys all want to play for this club.

Speaker: They wear the shirt with pride. Kim's a great pro. Peter Kingston wants to play. You saw Paul Rothrock again busting his ass. Because he won, he...

Speaker: He could have gone somewhere else in the offseason. But he elected to stay with us. Because he wants to play for this club. So. Lot of positives. Coach, how do you plan to take this momentum back into the league? Are we going to be seeing some more of these players that we've gotten to see on these short -term signings? Unfortunately, they got four call -ups.

Speaker: Got four call -ups. But. we're gonna we're gonna make sure that we take whatever moment momentum we have or you think we have And we're going to try and...

Speaker: Get the team prepared for Vancouver. And then after that game... we're gonna go Austin. and We're going on the road. and We're not afraid of going on the road to Cincinnati.

Speaker: And that's a tough three -game week. but What I do know, what I can tell you, what I can guarantee you is that every single player in that locker room is going to come out and fight for the jersey.

Speaker: because of the example that was set tonight.

Speaker: buenas Good night. It'll... Alinear al equipo. B. significant significant

Speaker: Dada por eliminado, o dio por eliminado ya al equipo del torneo?

Speaker: Brian, good afternoon good evening. Did lining up with that specific more B -team style lineup signify that you'd come to terms with the difficulties left to qualify out of this stage of the group? Of course.

Speaker: Of course we have three games. in seven days next week. That was part of my decision What I wanted to do was start with a group of young, hungry players and then make subs in the second half to try and win the game.

Speaker: And I think that's what we did.

Speaker: We actually had a chance. We had multiple chances to make it 2 -2. multiple chances to make it 2 -2.

Speaker: He's got to translate them. Almost there. keep on in a race. solution this place salion i zoom i Yep.

Speaker: Coach, you mentioned making... a boom transition. Coach, you mentioned making plenty of subs to try to win the game. i wondered what you I was wondering what your thought process was on bringing Alex Roldan, given his known known health limitations right now and the PAC schedule.

Speaker: He's fine. We needed a guy. in a double pivot. And he was the last guy on the bench that could do it. And Alex is a tough kid. And he's perfectly fine.

Speaker: To play. 12 minutes.

Speaker: Coach, I want to... you could comment a little bit on the technical critical awareness of the team because you change formation. You put some players in midfield that normally don't play there.

Speaker: and also specifically to the goalkeeper i know it's a specific position but Did that put a doubt in your mind about who is going to be the starter going forward? Nope. It's competition.

Speaker: I'll make those decisions as I see fit as far as the goalkeeping decision is concerned. I said from the outset. that I have two starting goalkeepers on this club. And I will make a decision if I need to.

Speaker: But Andrew. has seen again what the other players have seen position specific That Steph is. you know, proud to be a Seattle Sounder. and he works hard every day in training, and he's playing at a high level.

Speaker: And that's good for Andrew. not just for the near term, but also for Andrew to look to the future. Because if Andrew can have a career like Steph Fry. then he will have a had a successful career.

Speaker: As far as the other tactics. you know new positions all that the attacking shape didn't change i'm sure all these guys it's seeing the The difference is we just defended a little differently in 541.

Speaker: Brian, you talked about this game. I'm wondering if overall... the three game if you give us your early thoughts on the whole tournament yeah as a whole. Going down to Toluca was never going to be easy. you know, two, nothing.

Speaker: you know statistically we got beat up uh you know that last goal made it three maybe that was more indicative you know, based on the stats. Um...

Speaker: carretro made a bunch of changes we made him pay for it and in this game you you have the effort that was required, maybe just not that. you know quality But again, we had some chances to make it 2 -2. they obviously had chances to put their scoreline higher. But, you know, at the end of the day, if Osase...

Speaker: gets one of those two chances, maybe it's 2 -2.

Speaker: I know you're a proud Seattle guy. What did seeing all that red in the stadium feel like today? it's fine i loved it credit to the chivas fans i mean they support their team our fans support Our team.

Speaker: I mean... It is what it is. I mean... Chivas is a Big club. And there are a lot of people that support their club. Same like us.

Speaker: We have away support. I love waving to all the way people at different games, different stadiums. I mean... When fans travel to see their team play.

Speaker: I love it. And then we have one last question on Zoom from Jeremiah. Jeremiah, go ahead.

Speaker: I actually see his he put his hand down. um All right. on do Yeah, stumped it. All right. um That concludes our thank you press conference with Brian Schmitzer. Thank you very much.

Speaker: Sorry, I was muted. for the seagulls uh I don't know how much of that you guys heard because I muted myself about halfway through the presser, but there's big happenings in the Seagull community right now. They flock around the stadium like vultures after every game. But then I heard a shriek. It sounded like a bald eagle. I think it was the King Seagull. And then they all.

Speaker: swarmed to One location. All of them. at once in the whole stadium so i was focused on that for some of the presser, but I heard enough of the presser. to get get a good sense of how Schmetz was feeling. And he was being...

Speaker: A little feisty. I would say. We got spicy schmutz. Tonight. He was talking to you all at one point. Chat, did you hear that?

Speaker: He was talking to you all. He said. effort like that. will take us further than any TAM signing. I think that was roughly what he said. He was talking to you guys with that one. He knows what you all have been talking about.

Speaker: He said, effort like that will take us. further than a TAM signing. Which...

Speaker: I guess I'll leave it up to you guys if you agree with that sentiment. i think you know I think what I would say is that. Effort like that and a attempt it does those two things aren't mutually exclusive.

Speaker: Are they? You could have the the effort. and the fire and the TAM signing.

Speaker: See I should be a GM I should be a GM. Tam signing. effort I do think there is. something to what he was saying. uh from the standpoint of he also did you catch that when he said uh Someone asked him if he would hold up that effort as an example. to the first team and he said i did that i did exactly that he said i looked them in the eye When I was talking about the effort.

Speaker: and the requisite fire in these games. I was looking at the first team guys. To me, that's an implication. that You know? He saw what the rest of us have been seeing in in some of these games, where I think really the main game where I would put that into question is the Portland 5 -1.

Speaker: But I think there have been other times too. where well it's not It's not even just effort in individual games. It's an air of complacency. Right.

Speaker: That's what I... kind of feel with this team at times. Maybe that's what he's talking about. But... when you feel too comfortable when you feel like you have your spot on lock when you feel like you don't have to compete or look over your shoulder for it.

Speaker: Sometimes that manifests in the games. So you know, I don't know if that's what's been going on. But I do know that. You know, I saw some people in chat during the presser complaining about the lineup. I can't relate to that at all.

Speaker: I mean... Imagine if he had just... Started. The entirely first choice 11. And then someone did their hamstring.

Speaker: It's just the the risk reward. God knows. especially with this team right now. This is exact. And and also. When you're on a losing streak like this.

Speaker: And you want to like. a fire under guys. Giving young guys opportunities. I'm on all for that. Let's see what we have in some of these guys. If you don't give. galley galley galantine sadness Sadness.

Speaker: If you don't give him the start. How are you going to get an evaluation on what you have? He went out there. He looked pretty good. scored a goal. You don't play him? You can't find that out So.

Speaker: I was good with the lineup. I was pleased. With I think how the first half went It wasn't incredible, but you...

Speaker: you were up one zero you got a nice little set piece goal and you were competing It did go off the rails in the second half. That is. It did.

Speaker: They were in hell. They were they were in Toluca -type hell. essentially playing a road game at their own stadium.

Speaker: And they conceded a couple goals. But I guess that goes back to the original point, which is that it does doesn't this game didn't... i Not to to be the nihilist here, but that this game did not matter.

Speaker: It didn't matter. They could have won this game 2 -1 in the... outcome would have been the same maybe it would have been a psychological boost but like as far as the tangible.

Speaker: the tangible benefits that you could have gotten from a victory as far as like actually advancing in the tournament that it didn't matter. It didn't matter. So.

Speaker: I think.

Speaker: This game, yeah even if they had won this game. Even if they had outplayed Chivas. Because like let's be clear, too. This was... This was not Chivas's. first choice 11 either.

Speaker: This was their bot squad. So if Seattle had won this game, people would have said that it didn't count because it was the bot squad. But this was Seattle's Bot Squad 2. Like, ostensibly.

Speaker: I actually don't think it... ah it looked like a bot bot squad except for the second half, but let's go through. ah

Speaker: Let's talk about how how some of these guys did, and then I'll toss the call link in chat. and we can get you guys in here to lay down your takes i don't wanna i can't stay here all night tonight, so let's we'll try and operate with some efficiency.

Speaker: Good night.

Speaker: But we can go through the lineup and talk about how we how we think these guys did. Let me just pull it up. Give me one second here. But.

Speaker: I thought they acquitted themselves. reasonably well. Is that fair? reasonably well. considering the circumstance. i I'll say this. They did better than I thought. When I when i saw the lineup, I saw, it you know, okay.

Speaker: You're throwing Tacoma Defiance out there. That's fine. I'm good with that. looked at the Chivas lineup. Saw that it was their bot squad as well It was like, okay, I mean. Bot Squad on Bot Squad.

Speaker: Bye.

Speaker: I'm not going to lie. and i My expectations were not especially high.

Speaker: They exceeded my expectations in the first half for sure. get Getting a goal. scoring the first goal.

Speaker: holding their own defensively. And before I pull the lineup up and we can go through these these players individually, but... the uh The Uncle Steph... Bit. It's kind of becoming not a bit.

Speaker: few more just going deep into his bag with these saves. Yeah.

Speaker: It's like... Just world -class on a few of these. Schmetz got asked about it in the presser there. He said he he did his whole... thing He loves talking about how he has two number ones.

Speaker: And. I just, ah you can't. Now that you've already committed to Andrew Thomas, you can't go back on that.

Speaker: Because no matter how... no matter how much better you think. Schmetz might be, or Steph might be playing in this moment.

Speaker: You do have to you have to plan for further... further in the future than this year. So like, I don't think there's a goalkeeper controversy, but I will say Steph Fry, if there's any. One takeaway from league's cup.

Speaker: yeah He's still got it, honestly. Like if he wanted to go somewhere and start next year. Does he look like a guy who couldn't do that? I think he looks like he could do that.

Speaker: And he was also under siege a lot of this tournament as well.

Speaker: I don't think it's about looking bad to the media. It's about It's about... planning for the future, even if he's

Speaker: I don't know. that's That's just me. That's just me.

Speaker: All right, what was I doing? Okay, I'm pulling up this lineup. Hold on, hold on, hold on.

Speaker: You guys see that? How does that look? I can't see it that well.

Speaker: Let me know if that's visible. Let's go through, let's go through it.

Speaker: Steph Fry. Excellent all tournament. Hey guys

Speaker: White House boy. Ryan Saylor. Not at the White House. Playing professional soccer. For the Seattle Sounders, proud of him. I actually thought he played pretty well.

Speaker: Not at the White House, locked in. I think now he is officially spent. More time. playing Well, actually, no. because they probably spent multiple hours at the White House. So I think as it stands, he has still spent more time at the White House.

Speaker: than he has playing. First team soccer for the Seattle Sounders in 2026. But he's getting there. He's getting there. He put a big dent in that tonight. He's probably going to need to play two or three more games. to actually make that stat. irrelevant.

Speaker: But... He did look... I thought he looked... I don't know about you guys. I thought he looked... ah better than I was expecting considering that up to this point his legacy on this team was peacing out of preseason to go to the White House, coming back, immediately getting injured, and then never playing.

Speaker: With a degenerative knee issue, yeah. No, yeah, I thought he... i You know, i ah we've ah we've had our fun at the expense of... ah of Ryan Saylor this season, but he played he played pretty well tonight.

Speaker: Stu Hawks, I thought was good. Stu Hawks. That dime. Do you guys know this dime I'm talking about? He put right on Osaze, and Osaze just whiffed it.

Speaker: Osaze just whiffed it. But that dime from Stu Hawks, that looked like... ah That looked like a number 10. That was like a Jordan Morris.

Speaker: Outside of the foot.

Speaker: Philip, I'm sorry if you don't like the the White House bit. It's funny. I don't care. it's my i get that The fact that he did that is... objective Like I'm not even. Not even doing commentary. It's just funny that he did that.

Speaker: As long as he's on this team, I'm doing that bit. i don't like i i thought that I thought that bit was widely accepted as funny, but I guess not. ah Charlie Daphne. Chuck.

Speaker: Chuck, I thought I opted pretty good. Schmetz highlighted him as a guy that... ah quote, busted his ass. put in the effort.

Speaker: I don't think guys like... ah

Speaker: Like Chuck. And Marco, or... Edison Carlyle. I don't think they did. no way none and None of that trio did anything where I was like, oh man, like they have to. You got to play.

Speaker: now, but like I thought Chuck had some nice moments. And... I appreciate it. Like he was definitely a guy that you could tell. Like Schmidt said, this was his op. This was his chance.

Speaker: So I appreciated the performance and the effort from Chuck. What did you guys think of the Marco? Tino. Defensive midfield. Have you guys noticed how Schmetz is like a...

Speaker: He's been tuned into the double pivot discourse. I don't know if it's on our show or if that discourse has been going on everywhere, but ah did you catch at one point in the presser? uh he kind of dismissively said the term double pivot he was like you know.

Speaker: When he's in the... Double pivot. This wasn't really a double pivot. This was a different formation

Speaker: But you have Marco and Tino. Kind of playing that role. Tino has the assist on the goal. That was nice. That was a well -executed set piece header. Back across.

Speaker: The galley.

Speaker: I thought you know, I thought Tino and Marco They were holding their own they were doing what they could but I guess like if you're looking for a reason Once again, why things kind of fell apart in the second half. It kind of just.

Speaker: You know. You need, regardless of what formation you're playing, you need that that anchor. That leader. That captain presence at that spot in the field. Tino and Marco, like...

Speaker: It's not a reasonable like expectation. I don't think. For them to provide that like to the level that you wouldnt you need like ah to to really, really compete in a game like this and feel like you should be the team that wins.

Speaker: You need like a Jao Paulo or an Alzi Alonso out there. I continue to think um to believe that. I continue to become radicalized. on that. The more I watch this team play. in the absence of that type of skillset and leadership.

Speaker: You know? And it really, it's not to. Any guy that they play there, whether it's Snyder or Pete Kingston, or in this case, Tino, Marco, whatever.

Speaker: They need to be playing off someone who has those things. Otherwise it's not going to work. So. if i had to If I had to diagnose what happened in the second half when it fell apart.

Speaker: It felt like a lot of the same recurring issues that they've had in midfield, to be honest. Felt like a lot of the same recurring issues they've had. in midfield. Not really. not

Speaker: it's not to do with an evaluation on uh on the pairings or the players really it's just like There is a... There's a skill set and mindset. Type of player profile that you need to have there that they don't have without Christian Roldan.

Speaker: Or, you know, now they're they've, uh... Now they can't ask one rolled on to do it. So they've been asking the other one rolled on to do it. The other rolled on, went out there tonight. And I thought. You can tell how much just hat plugging a Roldan in settles things, even if it's not Christian, even if even if it's Alex.

Speaker: You still get the rolled on effect from, from. plugging Alex in there, a lot of it. might not be the exact same as christian but it's like it's close enough where it settles the situation. to some extent.

Speaker: Marco wiped completely. Yeah. I think there was some. some fuel tanks that weren't exactly full of gas by the end there. Seabass Gomez.

Speaker: Continues to look good. I thought he had some nice moments attacking from out wide. This team, obviously, with Pedro de la Vega hurt again, needs... C .B .S. Gomez, I think... honestly if there's one guy i come out of leagues cup being like this guy needs to Get more minutes.

Speaker: It's probably Seabass Gomez. Because CBAS... it would not be reasonable to ask him to be a de la vega Stand in.

Speaker: But he can at least take guys on one -on -one. He can eliminate defenders. He can get by a guy. and and put a cross in. he can play it He plays it more like a traditional winger and not this pocket winger.

Speaker: He makes stuff happen. I don't know. I'm... I'm definitely...

Speaker: very down to see him play more and see if he can bring some sort of spark or creativity. or something from out wide. He's not going to be able to do it to the level that De La Vega can, but he does have that skill set in a way that not.

Speaker: Pretty much no one on the team does. Without De La Vega. So.

Speaker: I thought CBass was good. He's been fun. He's probably my biggest positive coming out of what was not that great a tournament Uh... Edison Carly, I don't know i don't if anyone ah watched him super closely. I felt like he he looked a little...

Speaker: Like... The game was moving fast for him, maybe. Which is fair enough. Like, it's to be expected. But it's hard to make an impact when... when the bullets are flying like that and you've never done it before.

Speaker: Jesus and Osaze.

Speaker: Look, man.

Speaker: I don't think. That either one of them were, it's not, it's not like, again. We've been talking about a midfield that's been a mess, an offense that hasn't been fluid, and again, an offense tonight that really didn't generate a lot of... chances so probably some of that was on ferrera I don't think he's getting enough support right now, but if you want to blame him for it.

Speaker: I can't I'm not going to argue with you. Tonight. He was not very impactful tonight. Osaze.

Speaker: was Kind of killing me tonight. He was kind of killing me. I'm not going to lie.

Speaker: He had two yeah two really good chances that he missed. and then But the one the one that was really killing me was... ah the The StuHawks time!

Speaker: This is Stu Hox time. Brother, please finish that. Please give me that Stu Hawks primary outside the foot assist.

Speaker: Please. Finish that one. Tie the game. gets to Hawks' assist. But on that note, I'll shout it out again. Stu Hawks outside of that pass.

Speaker: he is a He really is a gifted passer. Very, very good. Some of the dimes he's dropping. Are.

Speaker: better than Jackson Reagan. That outside the foot dime. I've never, I don't know. Have you ever seen a center back do that? That was sick.

Speaker: And he should have had these, like, it was so good that it it was was right there. Right there. It's right there for you, Osaze. I'm begging you.

Speaker: for the StuHawks agenda. All right, I'm going to do super chats and then we can. I'll drop the calling in the queue or in the chat. Linda Wood, thank you for becoming a YouTube member.

Speaker: If you guys want a great way to support the show, follow Linda's lead. Azurada, thank you for the five. Appreciate you. He says, Noah for a DPB reporter. Yeah, good questions from Noah at the presser.

Speaker: S -9 -0 -1974. Remember for 10 months. Appreciate you. If Osadze scored his opportunities this tournament and made that assist, we would be in the knockout rounds. I mean.

Speaker: You might, you you're not wrong.

Speaker: Although... The only thing I would push back on is... if he made If he made that one in Toluca... I don't know how that would have mattered. They they got outshot 39 -4. They got so lucky to only give up three goals in that game. like You could say, oh, if he makes that, it's early in the game. Maybe it changes the whole game. i did That's one of those ones where they were so overmatched and getting outplayed so thoroughly. like Okay, that goes in.

Speaker: you still gave up. four expected goals and 39 shots, you're probably going to. lose that. most times. Not to be the stats guy, but like...

Speaker: Four XG, 39 shots is usually not a good recipe to win games. It's not.

Speaker: CW says, Seba or Snyder? Are you saying like which one should play? Because I don't want to see Seabass in the double pivot.

Speaker: I know they've been doing that and he's been doing okay, but that to me, that's. You can't just like keep throwing. like okay christians hurt we don't have a like for like let's just throw p kingston at it nope okay let's just throw sea bass at it nope okay let's just throw Ari at it. now Nope. Okay. Let's see. You got it.

Speaker: Sign somebody. Maybe. i don't you know I don't want to suggest anything radical here. But...

Speaker: Joe with the thousand jewel loot box. Hell yeah. Still don't know what jewels do, but send us all the loot. And then CW says Osaze played himself out of contention tonight. I mean, I don't know.

Speaker: It's just... Because i've been I've been saying that I think the six is more pertinent than the nine.

Speaker: And that's partially because I had a whole take last year about how the nine situation wasn't actually that bad and people were overblowing it. and uh Moose scored 18 goals. What are you all worried about? And.

Speaker: That backfired. And I'm prideful and I don't want to. admit that I was wrong. But all in all seriousness like I don't know. I'm becoming further.

Speaker: and further radicalized on the notion that like

Speaker: You got to shore up the spine of your team first and foremost.

Speaker: You need to make the spine of your team as good as possible. You need to devote all the resources that you can. to making sure you have a Super dank.

Speaker: pristine defensive midfield and center backs.

Speaker: Then we start talking about things like nines and tens. And this team's spine is weak right now I want that. if you i swear to god i swear to god if you fix that the ripple effects will be incredible. If you fix that.

Speaker: You could bell cow moose up top and it'll work. We saw that last year

Speaker: Unpopular take. I'm sorry. I'm going to stop. I'm going to let you guys in here. Let me just grab this link. Okay. Tossing this in chat right now.

Speaker: There you go. There you go. Links in chat.

Speaker: Go ahead, start Q &N. I can keep monologuing until we... Until we get people tapping in. maybe we'll see Maybe we'll see Noah get a cameo in here. But no, we got the queue going. We got Tribe. We got Timbo. We got Jesus. We got the usual suspects. Let's lead it off.

Speaker: With Tribe. Tribe. What is up my guy you're on stage It's a 2 -1 -0. for Tacoma Defiance against Chivas.

Speaker: What did you think, man? How are you feeling? I am really, really pissed. when a team invades

Speaker: Your home field like that. It is embarrassing when you can't even put together a strong lineup because all of your depth is gone It is fucking embarrassing when your striker can't score a fucking one -on -one opportunity It is fucking embarrassing. I hate this team this season. I hate it it's giving me it is is giving me depression i am fucking pissed off beyond belief I personally will be a one -man army.

Speaker: Fucking rushing into the front office and doing shit myself if I have to this is bullshit. I am so unbelievably angry at this i How can you not score these these one -on -one opportunities? And how do you not lay it off to Jesus Ferreira to get up front? And it's seriously, if...

Speaker: It's all about gold differential at this point It is all about goal differential. If we had that one goal against Toluca, it would be better goal differential for us. If we had those two goals tonight, maybe it would have... ah Conner Squad. Running a bit better. You know how it is mentally we will have defended better Plus we've had tools maybe a 3 -0 win tonight. You never know. It's a stretch but still Um...

Speaker: If you have a goal differential of three or four, that could very well, depending on what happens tomorrow, very well get us into the knockout rounds, into that top four. Position it very well could again. It's not a guarantee, but it could it's just embarrassing all around tonight And and I'm very very angry See, I had just gotten so far past the notion of them advancing.

Speaker: That. I was sort of treating this game like – I was treating this game essentially like preseason. But I do think Tribe – you You bring up at least one point in there that I was thinking about as well, as far as... ah You know, this is this is the type of game where a yeah a Reed Baker wedding, per se, would be nice to have. A Georgie Manu you per se would be nice to have. I mean, you could go down the list. That's really that's really where I'm...

Speaker: like side eye and uh side eye and things at the moment is like dude Like. The whole point of of offloading those guys is to replace them. You know... like we've We've been over it a million times, but like you don't just offload him and then that's it. You don't just like say, hey hey, Colorado Rapids. like Your team is stronger now.

Speaker: Nashville SC, you want a really good domestic left back? Here you go. All right, where we got this money, and what are we going to do? We're going to not. We're going to. Hang out and not not You got to.

Speaker: Then that. Let's spend that. I mean, it's embarrassing. And then you can use them in a game like this. Exactly. And this team Oh, my God. Just imagine all the players that we had last season.

Speaker: It was probably, and ive and I said this last year, the deepest squad in all of CONCACAF when it comes to ah talent. you had You had like two replacements for each position that were actually able to start on other MLS teams, probably.

Speaker: I mean... You just get rid of that and what do you have? You have a team that is injury prone and once you get injured, you're fucked. That's what it is. and And you're seeing it now with all of these injuries with players out.

Speaker: ah You just can't replace him with... with quality proven players. their experience now With the kids coming in it's kind of different They're going to be high energy in the first half, obviously. That's just how it is.

Speaker: But once it gets down to as the game goes along, you need that experience. to to hold it through and you don't have that if you're just going to sign sign kids from the Tacoma Defiance, bring them up, do whatever. Just not going to work. now One thing that I'm hearing is...

Speaker: our fans are like oh why isn't fry now our number one keeper after Okay. Thomas is better still, in my opinion. Obviously. It's really Fry had all of the opportunities. to show why he is a professional goalkeeper.

Speaker: that's basically what it is lots of shots at him did what he should have done A couple of them were outstanding saves, yes. but nothing that Thomas couldn't have done. Plus, Thomas needs more experience, and I think he...

Speaker: Honestly? based off of his age and how good he is already. I think... He might. be able to surpass Fry. For... All time statistics and ability. If.

Speaker: Things go perfectly well perfectly well That's the key word. perfectly well. So that's why I still think Thomas should be starting. Yeah, maybe some people feel different, but I feel like.

Speaker: Age has to just factor into the thought process there. There's not such a quality differential, even if you want to say you know what is doing. There's not such a quality differential that you can justify like affecting your future plans by switching that plan now. And also, I do think you you make a good point there, too, as far as like.

Speaker: Yeah, the saves were awesome, and Fry was playing well. But like. A lot of it was. there There is a volume of shots that he's facing right now is insane. like any A lot of goalkeepers would be in there swatting everything left and right when they're get when you have 39 shots coming at you in a single game. there is a lot There's a lot of shots. There's, I think, 24 shots again for them tonight.

Speaker: as a not a sustainable way to defend and also be Like. your save totals are going to be high, but I don't even want to say that to discount how far I played in this tournament. No, absolutely not. A lot of the saves were freaking like awesome, but tribe, I got to get Timbo in here, but give us one last take to bring it home.

Speaker: Hundred percent, uh last thing I want to say The more that this goes on, the better for us this season so that we can finally have changes being made. So again, it's a double -edged sword. If we do terrible...

Speaker: owners are going to be forced to open up their pockets and do something about it. Otherwise, it's gonna completely go shit. and then maybe an angel investor will come in you never know you never know maybe maybe we'll get some of that oil money um Hopefully, we'll see. but um It's a double -edged sword you do well you do well you do bad We'll get changes. That's all. So keep hope.

Speaker: And let's go. That's all I can say. Tribe advocating for tanking. I love to hear it and appreciate you, man. Good stuff. absolutely take care All right, we got Timbo, Jesus, and then CW. I'm going to hit a super chat, drop the link in chat one more time. Also, supposedly Noah is headed up here too, so we'll get to hear from him.

Speaker: uh Choppy Tooth. Thank you for the five. He says, lots of Liga Mechis fans cosplaying as Chivas fans tonight. They all root for each other. You don't see Timbers fans rooting for us ever. I don't know if that's what was going on. I mean, maybe. I can't speak to that. But I do know, and i'll actually, I'll ask Noah about it when he's here in a second.

Speaker: But he was saying that he was out interviewing Chivas fans before the game. And. Uh... A lot of them were dual Chivas Sounders fans.

Speaker: So, you know, live in Seattle, Sounders fans. but are originally chivas fans so they they were kind of like but in fact we saw multiple people at the stadium like remove chivas jerseys to to reveal sounders fans i don't know that's like a That's kind of a weird conflicting sort of.

Speaker: Fandom, it must be. I don't know. I don't have a Liga Mechis team. But if you have both an MLS team and a League of Mechies team and they're playing each other. what takes precedent. Not sure. It seemed like a lot of people were conflicted about that. But it was it was wild to see the Sounders.

Speaker: essentially playing a road game at this stadium. That was wild. All right, let's get Timbo in here. Timbo. What's up, man? You are on the stage. Can you hear me okay? I can hear you. It's a 2 -1 -0 for the Seattle Sounders.

Speaker: against chivas uh and it was it was a lot of tacoma defiance but uh let's talk real quick on the chivas notion isn't guadalajara on the west coast of mexico if my geography is right yeah I believe so. yeah i mean that makes sense then that like okay well they're one of the closer you know. We got Mexi teams like.

Speaker: it's not a hard trip one for away fans for people who are here to come out. I have a hard time believing that. ah ah Club America fan is wearing a Chivas jersey at Lumen. Yeah, no. they come They come out in their own jerseys. we took over america as jing heights ago Did you see one of the Timbers players crashed out about that? that was one I did see that. I also saw a thing tonight where... us. Club America fan was...

Speaker: Like carrying a flag through Timbers Army like section and it's a large section and that's And they didn't stop. like It had to be Club America fans had to pull him back to get him back to the supporter side. so i mean Um, I just want to say congratulations to the League of Etsy for you know expanding into the Pacific Northwest in both Seattle and Portland. I wish them all the best in the future.

Speaker: I got to give it to him. Like, if you can take over a stadium like that. But pay those ticket prices, too, is the other side of it. Those those ticket prices. We have traveling support. and Like we we see them at all the games and it's like, yeah, but that's like a section of the stadium. That's not that's not the entire stadium. Oh, okay. We have a.

Speaker: We have the press the press conference man here himself here. Hey man, he's asking all the right questions. We're turning his lob mic on, but while we get our tech sorted here. Timbo, what do you think of the game and how the kids played tonight?

Speaker: I thought it was great. I was kind of looking forward to a ah new rendition of... Rui Diaz and the kids. from from back five years ago in Austin, right, where that where there essentially it was Tacoma Defiance Kids and Rui Diaz, and he just trips up.

Speaker: a 40 -yarder to win it. Oh, there's just, there's no Rui Diaz anymore. Where'd he go? In fact they should sign one. Thank you. He has a nine. like we was in a position Um...

Speaker: i mean But Ovid Vargas played in that game. so i mean we talked i'm I'm totally behind your six agenda. I do think we need another. Um, Ozzy Alonso.

Speaker: You're welcome. I think it makes a whole lot of sense because... There was even service to Day Road tonight. I was having the same frustrations you were having with... Um,

Speaker: just opportunities missed and like and some of them i think he got beat by the cheapest defense and some of it was just like muscle that guy and kind of make it happen what happened on the stew hawks time it was right there it was right there right did you Stick your leg out. Even even Brian seemed tilted about that. was the yeah That was the one. I only T -boed once tonight.

Speaker: That's when I... When Stu Hawks put that dime in and D -Ro just ran past it. Well, and what' there's no kind of like consequences to that, right? So, okay, you miss that shot or youre like you go on a cold streak. Well, they're just going to put another guy in and then you can come off the bench. and get hot again and then so and we just we go through this round robin thing both. of of It would really be nice to see some consistency. For the Seattle Sounders this week, find out on everyone's least favorite game show.

Speaker: Well, I was going to say, you know, Ari, we we should definitely should try you at the double pivot since we haven't done that yet. But maybe we need to try you at the number nine. I'll play wherever at this point. I just want to help the team win.

Speaker: I mean... god bless you for that man Um. the big draw away so this is this is my big positive from tonight. a loss, but... No injuries.

Speaker: thanks on the field play from this game tonight. You know what's funny? I heard two staff members tell me the same thing. that's where like legitimately two like uh you know coaching staff members were like No injuries tonight.

Speaker: Yeah. Also, that went on injured, injured theoretically, but it didn't make it worse. Right. Yeah. Honestly, I don't want anyone to even say that because it feels like tempting fate. but well let me we'll hear We'll hear when they don't play on on us Sunday against Vancouver. so i mean what were your What was your favorite young player performance? Tebow Gomez. I thought that assist was... was the service to him and he just kind of

Speaker: Went out for it, and I thought that was, you know... I appreciate Sanders getting the goal and actually making it work, but I think him, that assist was just... entire There was a couple of times where Seabass was taking on a defender one -on -one and he like juked him and made it by him. And I was like, Oh, Whoa, Whoa.

Speaker: Seabass, whoa. You're not allowed to do that on this team. we We got a lot of... potential from like peter king ah let me let me I love Peter Kingston, so I'm going to speak bad about him.

Speaker: He cannot service that ball. He's terrible at corner kicking. He hit a corner. i just I was tough, yeah. Listen, he is no Danny Leyva, but... I was workshopping this whole bit where I was going to call it, like, set Pete instead of set piece, and then he took it, and I was like...

Speaker: That one's going to the the content graveyard. Yeah. no it was i mean I mean, heck, with ah Danny Leyva, I would take... um God, who do we have back in the day? Senegalese player. ah What was it, Senator Goody? Was it Senator Goody?

Speaker: Um, The Dutchman. why Why am I blinking on them right now? Lirdo, Lirdo, Lirdo, Lirdo, Lirdo. kelvin let's talk about ovin Calvin Leardoms.

Speaker: back Back in the day. they Thank you. Was it Leardom or Leardom? It was weird, I Should I pop in here too? Should I yeah jump in here too? Why not? Okay, we we got, ah there yeah here we go. We're sitting next to each other. Now we're on our own. Let me get closer here. that we look like we're wrong Timbo, timbo we we're gonna keep working through the queue here, but give us one last take here to to bring it home.

Speaker: I don't have anything ah other than it was nice to nice to see some new names on the field tonight, and it was nice to hear Brian say, like, Hey. everyone please First team, guys. these DPs and starters are on notice at this point, theoretically. They should be. I don't know how much thought to put in that, but I didn't i didn't mind that he said it.

Speaker: because ah That's the message he should be sending, frankly. so And honestly, let's let's bring back some old veterans. ah There's an Australian fellow who... Now I'm blanking on his name too.

Speaker: He used to play for the team. I don't think we need more old people. I'm going to be honest. I mean, even Ladero coming back for a good but goodbye game. No more unction. No more unction. The unction is over. Steph's the only unk right now. We got one unk, okay?

Speaker: You are three spots in line from Manning the grill. Number one on the grill right now is Stephen Fry. Number two, Jordan Morris. He is the up and coming. Unk on the grill.

Speaker: contestant number three. yamar Actually, Yamar might be number two, to be honest with you. it not second mark my got so i got one more thing too many unks in line we don't need to add to the unction that's all i'm saying I got one more thing since I did look up this little bit of trivia tonight.

Speaker: The goalkeeper for that, Rui Diaz in the kids game, was not Stephen Fry. Who was it? Steph Cleveland. Steph c Cleveland, probably. It wasn't. if Steph Cleveland was on the bench that night.

Speaker: What? It was a goalie. by the name of Spencer Ritchie. Sponsor Richie. Yo, yo, wait. FC Cincinnati legend. Yes. Cincinnati legend Spencer Ritchie, because I know. roosevelt ah Roosevelt high school legend. He went to high school with a bunch of my homies. Yeah, shout out. It's wild.

Speaker: Anyway. Okay. welcome everybody Anyway, you guys have a good rest of the night. We'll see how we do when Vancouver comes down. Appreciate you as always, Timbo. You're the man. We'll catch you on the next one.

Speaker: be ah Should we discuss what's the... I mean I can slide into your frame here. yeah Did you have anything you wanted to to ah discuss before we get to him? Did you dish your Jackson Reagan take yet?

Speaker: No, no. Okay. Can we dish your Jackson Reagan take now? So I just, I'm uploading right now. the the interviews that we did with players because i want to watch the gal one together Fire. Love that kid. um In the words of... you know what do he tell us what he's what he What's he like? was He's so tall and buff, dude. He's huge. He's even towering over me. like yo He has the... I will say this is the first time I've ever... like

Speaker: Watched him play for the first team, obviously. But he has the physical attributes and the size to... to be an mls player and nice that's step one that's step one easily but it was it was good to see you know he seemed excited and You know, he was like, I kind of just blank. blacked out and woke up and had scored a goal. And I, you know, my reaction was funny is what all of everyone said and blah, blah, blah. So it was, it was like, he didn't re he like, didn't believe that he scored it for a second. He was like, wait, wait, did it go in? Can I celebrate? Yeah, please.

Speaker: um But I want to hear, I want to hear, you know. Shout out, we're gal glazers. We love gal. um What? I want you to give your Jackson Reagan take because it's kind of fun. Yeah, people in chat are asking. Well, you know, I'm just sitting here watching.

Speaker: galantine sadness which is he's got a great name too By the way, I'm sitting there in the first half watching him ball out, score a goal. We've been watching Stu Hawks looking good over the last few weeks, dropping insane dimes tonight.

Speaker: And I'm just thinking like.

Speaker: Jackson Reagan's trade value is at all -time high, probably. like as far as league perception. If you feel good about, like... some of the options that you have coming up.

Speaker: To me, Stu Hawks looks like an MLS player. gallon Gallant, gallant. Guaranteed. Galentine. Just Gal. Gal. Shout out Gal. goley ye He looks like he's got the physical attributes of an MLS player. We'll see. you could You could maybe swing a little deal for a lot of game to not spend.

Speaker: i'm just saying and then may theoretically Just saying. what ah what was my i said chicago fire because you did see chicago fire he said jackson reagan to chicago fire which i think is kind of the that's that's a heater But. I mean, what do you guys think? I think that's not a bad idea. I'm um you know i'm trying to think of... guys that have real real value you know yeah you can say oh this guy's been underperforming so trade him that's that doesn't interest me as much like yeah who's got value where you have

Speaker: like a surplus at the position that could cover for whatever you and then and then you get you get research the thing is all of this is predicated on getting resources that you could put back into the roster which you could be an easy cash for that's the thing Someone would cash for for him. It wouldn't even have to be Gam or Tam. They would do cash for him. They would do the Georgie Manungu $2 million dollars cash for for him. Probably even more.

Speaker: I'm not, I'm not even saying I'm not advocating for it. I'm just saying my, my, ah my, the gears in my brain. again Ari is trying to be the next general manager of the Seattle Sounders. I want to be a GM and a coach. I want to be a coach exec. Yeah, so he's trying his best. All right, James, sorry for that tangent, but we're going to... ah Let's bring on James now. He's ready. Speaker: James, what's up, man? You're on stage. It is another loss for the Seattle Sounders, 2 -1 against Chivas, but, you know. Tacoma Defiance acquitted themselves decently well. What did you what did you think of the proceedings tonight?

Speaker: Yeah, I thought it was a ah mixed bag um i i Didn't think that any of the individual players. made enough of a case to become regular starters.

Speaker: But I thought there were things I saw that. kind of pointed our way forward. um obviously one of them that schmetzer was obviously quite fond of was the amount of effort ah Schmetzer, I think, kind of alluded to the idea that some of the veterans needed to look themselves in the mirror.

Speaker: and say you know well why aren't you putting in that level of effort he had This was an all -time press conference for Brian. He was on fire. What was up with that? Why was he so good? He was just so – I don't know what was going on. I think because –

Speaker: the ultimate brian this was the ultimate brian schmetzer match put guys out there who would die for the goddamn badge and then they play like it like yeah they don't win But... You're you're in a hostile environment. You don't even care. Like your own stadium. Like, I don't know. it's It's all of those things of like Brian Schmetzer, like.

Speaker: feeling like He can point and say, This is what's been wrong. This is what's been wrong. It's not that we need to make seven fucking GAM signings. I wish he hadn't said that. Well, you know, but this is his take. I get it. This is his take, not mine. His take, not mine. We don't need to do that. We need more grit, hustle, vibes. all that kind of classic Brian Schmitzer stuff.

Speaker: And it's like, you know what? To and ah to a degree, you kind of got to. Wait. you kind of got to give it to him that's that's true like To your point, the ghost snack agenda of like, you think he's dying for the badge? Or do you think that Charlie Gaffney going out there, who has been a Sounders fan his whole life. Getting to put on that kit. and play against Chivas. This is his World Cup, bro.

Speaker: This is his world. up Yeah. i mean yeah Eh? I mean, that's i mean that that was what I was going to say, which is that you know Brian put so much so much emphasis on the effort, as I think he should, but he's the one who keeps putting Ruznak out there.

Speaker: Who I think even his defenders will admit is not Nicholas Ladero or Paul Rothrock. um And i don't think that I don't think that the veterans other than Rusnak are not trying. like I haven't seen anything like Dotson's dogging it. I think he just has been quite bad.

Speaker: Um, But. This is the way Brian Schmetzer wants his team to play. And Craig Weibel has not given him those guys. uh generally because they're too injured.

Speaker: um so So again, that's part of the way forward. I think, hey, Zeus. comes alive when he's the man when he's the playmaker And I'm holding out.

Speaker: some some hope in my heart that the reason ruznak wasn't anywhere in the lineup is because they're working out a trade deal i know it's a long shot but You know, Jesus didn't have a vintage game or anything, but if he could put in corner kicks like that, then it really. destroys the argument for keeping Rusnak out there because that's all he's doing at this point.

Speaker: um And I thought he had some good passes. you know He had a great opportunity. ah where if Osase had laid it off to him, he's in on goal. and And that gets me to my next point, which is again. The way that we're looking at the way to go forward If we can get a ah DP.

Speaker: Target man. version of Osase, but with... God love the kids, some some actual ball skills. The team looks a lot better when it has that outlet out there. And and the problem is we're trying to deal with.

Speaker: you know do you want the what's left of the pace of morris do you want the finishing of musavsky Or do you want the hold -up play of Osase? I think we look better. with the hold -up play of osase we just need somebody who's a lot more well -rounded um osasi's fine for a three hundred thousand dollar player but you're not really going to get very far in MLS with that.

Speaker: So. uh look if you can If you look at this and say, hey, Zeus has shown enough at the 10, we're going to cut Rusnak his million dollar check to make him go away. And and if you think Kenny's the guy.

Speaker: ah You think another target? dp9 is the guy i think there's something to that

Speaker: No need for tan players. No need for signings, James. We got vibes. That's all that matters. That's the only thing that matters. I mean, I'm not averse to that. You know, I, as I've said before, it's on craig libels wreck ah Craig Weibel's record is bad enough that I do not see the point in letting him spend a DP slot.

Speaker: um cash. or even a significant chunk of gam to try to save his job. I don't think that's the way to go. I think that is. ah throwing good money after bad. I think the team needs a significant rebuild, and God willing, Craig Weibel gets voted out. And then the next guy is going to need all the resources he can get. so that look of course hearing schmetzer say that it's like oh boy here we go again But long term.

Speaker: That probably would be for the best. James, absolute fire as always. You got one more. take to bring us home, and then we're going to get a CW in here. I'll give you my take on Reagan. I think that he is starting to suffer something from the Javier Arriaga disease.

Speaker: Which is where he's so convinced. He likes one post that he shouldn't have and it's over for him. Totally not where I was going, but I see your point. Um. No, it's that he's he's above average on the ball.

Speaker: And so he's... too focused on that And he's losing the basics of defense. Now, Reagan has never been. quite as comically bad as Arriaga, where all of his errors were, you know, destined to be on YouTube, fail compilations forever. But I do think Reagan is leaning a little bit... too much into his long passing ah And he needs to sort of dial it down a bit.

Speaker: Bring it back to basics, really focus on keeping the ball out of the net because that is his primary job. And. I would not be in favor of trading him because. Look, if we can get $4 million bucks from a championship team or something, Middlesbrough seems to be fond of Yankees lately.

Speaker: You know, that's one thing. But if we're trading them within MLS for a million in GAM, a two million in GAM. You know, a million game pays for Paul area for. Paul Areola for one year.

Speaker: two million pays for ariel and dodson for one year and i would rather have reagan so give to look at it that's a good way to look at it and that's probably where i come down ultimately but it is maybe i'll do a thought exercise at some point where like we assess trade value because Just thinking about like who on the roster has value within the league that you could actually get a haul for in a theoretical world where they would use those resources to improve the roster, which obviously.

Speaker: That's probably not going to happen. That's beside the point. The Hugo Kuypers method, I think, is what we both kind of dubbed it of like. trade at the peak value.

Speaker: And. try well i mean i don't know if chicago is going to actually do anything you know with it But regardless, the Hugo Kuypers method, perchance. Yeah, but your point is taken. Yeah, we may need to trade people in the future. But I mean, the one thing I'll say is that everybody knows we're desperate. Everybody knows we're in a bad spot. That brings down the value.

Speaker: So that now is not an opportune time to trade people because they know that we're desperate. So, yeah, but I will ah free up the queue. thank you very much for having me i appreciate it have a great night Bye, james James. Have a good night.

Speaker: What were you gonna say, Noah? oh i just you know it's it's it's tight to sell your international spot for 500 or 4 or 50k less than it's going for across the rest of the league and then also just be like Fuck, now we need an international spot. So you got to loan your...

Speaker: your random an MLS next pro striker who's played zero minutes to Pittsburgh Riverhounds to be able to like somewhat sign a strike. It's just, it's just, it's a good bit. I think it's a good bit. Like what are we, you know?

Speaker: What's the... What's the planning there? At least the bits are still there. The bits are, I mean, what are you going to do? All right, CW, bringing you to the stage and right now, and then we got Jesus, and then we got Caleb. And then... ah That's it. I'll toss the link in. I don't have a pen. That's always classic. You toss it. I'll toss it. It's like the D -Wave LeBron. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: All right, CW. to james To James's point. yeah We let let Georgie go. To pay Areola. And Dotson.

Speaker: Correct. oh I... i That fucking hurts. Okay, I was having this crash out a couple hours ago, and then I looked up how Georgie's been doing in Colorado. He's got zero goals to assist. He's been doing the same thing there. On this team right now, would that make a difference? no Fair, he's been doing the same thing there he did here. Yeah. Granted.

Speaker: But right. Vindicated on all counts as usual. So. so As for tonight. Oh. Love the effort from the kids.

Speaker: I thought it was the right lineup to send the message that he obviously wanted to send. when he did his presser. Um. And it needed to be said. And those guys lived up to it.

Speaker: No spot is guaranteed. He said that. We've laughed. We've said, ha -ha, yeah, you've played Rusnak again and and again and again. Tonight he proved it.

Speaker: Smets approved it. well i don't know stakes though yeah exactly it's like he no i don't care about stakes it's about and like smith said it's about the badge on the chest yeah it's not about the stakes in the game it's about what's What's right here?

Speaker: And the fact that he made a point of saying too, like when I was talking to the team after the game. and praising the effort of the young guys, I was looking at the bets. I was looking at the elder statesman. Trying to impart that onto them.

Speaker: Yeah, so i think it's It's a good set. We'll see what... Let's see what comes of it. yeah we'll see how it comes um Ari on on the six versus the nine.

Speaker: Yeah, I think you and I were the only ones two or three years ago saying we need a backup for Christian. That shit has come to roost. The fact that it took this long is a testament to to our Iron Man Christian Roldan. Absolutely. no it's just it's like taking whole song At this point, I'm not even like... Like...

Speaker: it's not like a novel agenda this is just like obvious Yeah, he's he's over 30 now. he needs to He needs to have backup. a competent backup Well, it advice mean I think you need the guy who's going to be the next him. like Oh, yeah, yeah. I would love a new Austin. You could plan for the future. You could bolster the midfield. You could take a lot of pressure off Snyder, which I think would be a good thing. like This is just like... so Oh, this is a...

Speaker: Hey, Zeus tonight. was like Nightcrawler in Marvel. He was the first 45.

Speaker: Shiva's trying to do something. All of a sudden, he's... Popping up, fucking it up. He pops up. He was all the first 45. He was just. He was all over the field, just popping up in random places.

Speaker: screwing up whatever they wanted to do. I know he was the only field player veteran on the field. But damn, I... He was. Top notch in my book tonight.

Speaker: he was He was working hard and it was...

Speaker: Like he's so, he's such a good high pressing player. And I feel like this team's whole press has been so messed up lately. And I thought in the first half, it it fell apart in the second half, but in the first half, the press looks good again. Which I was like, this is cool. Remember like what it was like last year for a lot of the year and the first half of this season when this team would press and it just looked like this mind meld of guys who were all connected. and It was just constant. And it would overwhelm you. Every ball was ours. You saw shades of that tonight. You saw these sequences where Chivas was trying to play out of Seattle's pressure and they were like having trouble with it. They couldn't do it. And I was watching that and I was like, man.

Speaker: This team has not been able to do that at all for like. Yep. A month and a half. And they were so good at that last year and for the beginning of this season. That was like the hallmark of the team was how good they were.

Speaker: at that. And yep I do want to point out. Freddie Montero is available. No. For free. No. He is free. No. How much crypto, though? Put it put no put him down. No, I'm telling you, the line for the unction, the line for the barbecue is two too long. We can get him on NFTs. That's it.

Speaker: all you have to do is get them on the yeah nfts and if you get them on the senior minimum nfts yes He will play for the senior minimum, though. I guarantee and damn t it.

Speaker: When he made his initial comeback a couple years ago, like you want to talk about playing for the badge. that he He was a big reason. like that 6 -2 game in Portland happened. Like, yeah Crypto Freddy kind of cooks, man. He's only 39.

Speaker: Younger than the original. Original Freddie didn't. Original Freddy was all about Freddy. Come back, Freddie, was all about the badge. You're absolutely right, Ari. Yeah, yeah. But...

Speaker: um The other thing, we need Alex Roldan to sub into the medical staff because he's ever... Always played every other damn. position on the field. That's the only one he hasn't played. Maybe we can fix our muscle injuries if we put Alex on the medical staff.

Speaker: CW. You're cooking. Anything else you wanted to get out there before we go? Yeah, I never fucking want to hear. Puto in my house against my goalie. again That was bad. yeah it was bad that and it was so loud and it's just like I can't believe on the broadcast.

Speaker: Fuck that. Not in our house, not against our guy. yeah Ever again. I, I like. At this point, that's just been like... Going on for so long. I don't I don't know what you do about it But...

Speaker: It's whack. MLS has rules about it. Leagues Cup has rules about it. They canceled the games and stuff. They did that didn't do that. They pulled it in Dallas, and apparently they paused the game in Dallas.

Speaker: They followed the process in Dallas. I think tonight was the loudest I've ever heard it. It was only one time. but it was They were like, yeah, we're not even going to pretend. Yeah. Yeah, not not not okay in our house against our guy.

Speaker: i never You know what? Sounders fans, let's... Come to matches, baby. Sounders team, let's play good so people come to matches maybe. I don't know if you could have stopped that. It's a four -and -a -half -hour drive for me to get to a match.

Speaker: But if I never hear that again. By driving to every fucking match that ever exists in the future. I will do it. that it It's bad news. Yeah. It's not great. Yeah. Well said CW. All right. We're going to get Jesus in there, but good stuff. face i guys Appreciate you, man. Take care before we do. Yeah. rbw had a goal waved off today apparently on a questionable call So that would have been our TikTok comment. So we would have gone back to back.

Speaker: I just got to know. RBW agenda. Is that to the moon? Or what? He scored one in League's Cup. He gets one waved off today. it's It would have been nice to have him on the team these last few weeks. I'll say that. That's all I'm trying to say. I'll say that. That's all I'm trying to say. like that And I will say, too.

Speaker: I actually, if you go back And we we we reacted to that trade live. And then in the shows the next couple of days, I was saying, I was distraught. i i were You were distraught, but i was I said, this is, I don't.

Speaker: I understand what they're doing with some of these and I wasn't against like the Georgie thing. I wasn't against the Danny Lava thing. Wasn't against the attention thing. So, like, it's not like I've been against a lot of these in principle. That one I was. That one I was. You can roll the tape on that. I said I don't like it.

Speaker: I don't like it So. uh i think we're seeing like because they we keep now with the Without Nuhu. Who are you playing? It would be nice to have a natural, even though. Left back, I get, is not theoretically RBWs. that's not But that was what he was playing. That's what he's been doing. that's what nash Isn't that what Nashville's been doing with him?

Speaker: i don't know I don't know. Bring em bring him in. Bring him in. Jesus! Bring him in. Asus, what's up, man? you're on the stage Yeah, we got to get your takes. cause yeah You were saying Chivas is your Liga Mequis team, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. you're my set Okay, give us – what was – Who did you find yourself rooting for? like What were you cheering for? Oh, my God. One of the toughest matches I ever had to root for. I mean, I knew the stadium was going to be red and white.

Speaker: And when I saw like on Instagram, all the fans invading, I was like, holy shit. I was underestimating, especially because on a weekday and in my area of the Yakima Valley, there is a shit ton of.

Speaker: Chivas and America fans, that's all over here. And. Well, like... And then here in the... do you know the stupid chant that i absolutely hate and especially as a mexican i find it stupid and i find it very very i'm not trying to cuss on the show very retarded very retarded and very like they're in san there was San Jose and I saw videos of them throwing beer throwing all this crap and I'm the type that Like.

Speaker: If I go to a game, I get beer thrown on me. it's It ruins the experience. Like, come on. And then the the game. The whole entire damn game just fell. Like we were in Guadalajara all over again.

Speaker: yeah And then... It was a a tough... Like... It was tough walking in, even. like i I walked in and I was shooting some video of the Chivas fans walking in. I couldn't even get to the gate. Like there was that many.

Speaker: That made you unique. like That's like the first time I've seen our stadium get taken over like that. Bye. It honestly was one of like the craziest takeovers I've seen. I remember when the Niners took over.

Speaker: During the Seahawks game. Which it was last year, then it was the year before, and then it was 2019. It reminded me of that, but it was it was even, like, i but I went into a Seahawks game when it was Steelers fans and they did that shit. But, like... Oh, I remember that that. That was more like they make it like 50 -50 or like.

Speaker: maybe it was 90 this was you this was 80 20 no it wasn't even 20 let's be real It was was ninety half of ECS, which by the way, like half of ECS was just Chivas fans. It was half ECS section.

Speaker: And mind you, they do not allow split scarves into their section. And I saw a shit ton of them. I was like, oh my god, what has time has come?

Speaker: yeah it's uh it's it's a bit when they when they scored it would like erupt yeah It was insane. When they had the ball attacking third, it erupted. It was wild. yeah Which, like, i don't you don't hear that for the Sounders game. So, listen.

Speaker: I gotta, like, as Brian Schmetzer gave respect to the Chivas fans, I gotta give respect to the Chivas fans, too, because, like... Yeah, me too. Especially as a Chivas fan. Yeah, they came out. They supported their club.

Speaker: They absolutely dominated the the stands. they They showed out. There was never a moment where they were like silent. you know Even when they were losing. And, you know.

Speaker: ah You can say... In Guadalajara, they're loud throughout the whole 90 minutes. Need some more of those vibes.

Speaker: What did you think of? Yeah, we need that. What did you think of how the the young gunners... Probably denied his use. Oh, really good. I mean... Well, all of them looked really good out there. The only one that was pissing me off was Ozaze. I mean, I've been an Ozaze doubter.

Speaker: um also my brother which like one day i think it was least cubby's like oh my god they're starting that guy up there and he receives the score and my dad and my by i looked at my brother i was like You deadass probably got into his head.

Speaker: Leagues Cup 2025, Osase, man. that ah We'll never forget. Never forget. And that game -winner against Atlanta, too. Yes, bro, the Atlanta. Or the shake and quake. Man, he scored some really great – The shake and quake was incredible. We just got to get him back to that form. I think i think we need – See, i would I would argue up to this point, yeah up until tonight.

Speaker: it's like he really What chances were there for him to miss? There was nothing. like he he had maybe he had a couple He had a couple, but it's like... they were There was one in a game maybe. Tonight, tonight there was multiple times where it was.

Speaker: The Stu Hartz one is killing me. dude that Yeah, I was looking at it. I was just disappointed. cause it's what Hey, Zeus, you finish that ball. I finished that ball. Ari finishes that ball. it's Yeah, it's one thing to miss a but it's another thing to undermine the Stu Hawkins. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, you can miss a sitter, but if you the second you undermine the Stu Hawkins agenda, we're coming for you. I don't appreciate it. You're done. You're canceled. You're done.

Speaker: Yeah. Also, my take on Reagan, I just think he needs more time. I feel like right after the... world cup and i think like i mean him crashing out badly i feel like it's just He's suffering from, I don't know what it's called. He's suffering from. Post.

Speaker: I don't know, first season. He was really good in the first, like, the first half of the season. But a lot of players in the MLS have that. Like, they they start off really on fire. But then when it comes to, like, we go on a long break, they pretend to shit the bed.

Speaker: I see. my take My take on the trade wasn't even like, oh, he's been playing poorly the last couple weeks. Ship him. It's more just like... You know, if you're assessing who's got the best chance to get a call that you could really use if this team did that that you could really use honestly that would be but like it's a it's more about like where you think you might have cover to be able to how can we just don't bring back ryan kent at this point it's he was a good player well the the the club has no need for him

Speaker: That's a funny yeah that was yeah that's a quote. a good quote to look back on. hey give us part best one more Give us one more take, and then we're going to get ah Caleb and Nat in here and then probably call it a night.

Speaker: my like My final take is that... I will never in my damn house want to hear that damn chant ever again. And I'm gonna go... to the game against Chicago Fire.

Speaker: And like, oh. gonna be one of the most earliest kickoffs i have ever seen in the sounders game in a minute Yeah, well, we'll see you there. and We appreciate you. Thank you guys for having me on the.

Speaker: On this live, go Sounders, and peace out. Have a good night. See you dude. ah I mean, it's listen, it's got to be a good day to be Jesus. His team wins. I'm glad we got to talk to somebody who actually had the dilemma of watching their two favorite teams play each other. For me, that would be if...

Speaker: the Seattle and New Mexico United ever played in the Open Cup. Which they got close. Which almost happened last year. but And i had to I had to do the... ah or it might it might have been two years ago i can't remember does' it doesn't matter when's the last time they played the open cup yeah exactly but there there was there was some period of time where that was actually on the table and i was like who would i root for who would I, like, who would I...

Speaker: that was That would have been such a heated video. I think ultimately... See, in that situation, I go with the most comedic outcome, and you've got to admit, in the Mexican community, winning that would be funny. i don't know With the Meow Wolf sponsor, bright -ass yellow, you've got to just... That's what I'm saying.

Speaker: All right, let's get Caleb in here, and then we got Nat after that. uh no one no one else is in there so after that we can do the two player i got the two player pressers i'll upload it on youtube we can screen share them talk about them and then we can do it okay i can dig it uh let's uh let's get caleb on here though Caleb. Hey, he's got it on. He's got it on. Let's go.

Speaker: Oh yeah, he's flexing the badge. He's flexing the badge. Caleb, can you hear us?

Speaker: Oh, no, we can't. Wait, he's muted. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Caleb, I think you're muted. I'm going to unmute you. I'm going to try. I'm going to try. Oh wait, no, he's muted on our end. I'm trying. Oh, can't unmute. or that you There you go. you're back Can you guys hear me? Yeah. yeah All right. Yeah. Yeah. All right. right. Yeah.

Speaker: Dude, that kid is... That's so sick. It was on the back.

Speaker: Ayy! You're... That's a good one. That's a good one. Jackson Corey, the only one, like you know the winger that did score like you know at America First Field last year before like you know he got...

Speaker: uh before craig let him go uh maybe you know it's like But you know, you live and learn, you live and learn, you live and learn. but uh but ladies and gentlemen um you know if you haven't yet please uh like share subscribe to this beautiful content of this independent, ah beautiful channel.

Speaker: Because again, we have Ari, Noah, and our Forever Blue, Forever Green girls. two podcasts two for the pendant of independent men and women of the great sounder nation please give your likes and shares and subscriptions to your qed coffees And ladies and gentlemen, let's all have a great soccer unity in our grand Washington community.

Speaker: Okay, so now that I got that out of my chest. um I'd have to say again, for me, I thought it was actually a great effort tonight on tonight's game. Um...

Speaker: I'm not really dogging the guys i mean i've watched tacoma defiance games and i've seen these These guys like be versatile. so I'm very, it was it was exciting for them to have that energy and to see that.

Speaker: thing Yes, we got overtaken by the fans, which... that's absolutely on the fans, which to be honest, our fans need to get a chew out. I mean, like, you know, like there's no justification of why, like, you know, I know that, you know, our team is shit, but at the same time, like, hey, there's so many teams, DC United fans that still show up for like their team, even though they're shit. So what the fuck is our excuse for us being about as royalty as we are?

Speaker: So, but I mean, that's that's a whole different other cook. but I digress on that. But, um... But i I really saw, like you know like I said, we were able to score. We were able to, like, you know, the passing, the fluidity.

Speaker: It was very much, like you said, it does put um it does put a lot of senior players. in question being like, okay, like... this is This is what we've actually invested in. This was all the big money that I know you don't see it as the big money that we've done these signings. but this money has gone and invested into development. And even for those for James that are like pro Garthers and for other people that was absolutely pro Garthers.

Speaker: um that like this is what garth said like he says like we're absolutely have a strategic plan to acclimate like you know like academy and s2 players to firmly put them into this first team Like, you know, actively, because I mean, to be honest, yes, signings.

Speaker: It's going to do something, but... I think, like I said, like we have we have a whole talent of backyard guys that have just worked their asses off for this badge. And I think that that's...

Speaker: way more you know uh like a solid effort i mean i i i i i i mean i guess we don't have too much of the through like, you know, of our of our depth.

Speaker: Because we're still banged up. But. it's it was just fun to actually see these young guys actually just like not be afraid for once and just being like show no fear other than like the so -called seniors that's making you know big time dig you know like money and big time so -called roster positions but i leave the uh but i pass the mic back to you for questions Yeah, it's just it's it's fun to watch young guys who have nothing to lose and who are trying to make their mark, and that's what I appreciated.

Speaker: About the effort that the, that the tack deep boys. ah Put in tonight. Noah, what did you think of... the effort mentality yeah i mean so i asked the question to brian and i'll ask it to you too about You know How should the Sounders take this momentum going forward?

Speaker: i think there's a few options one of the options is you play the kids a lot more You truly believe in the no spot is safe. and if you're playing good you keep getting to play and the second you play bad someone else steps into your position or Do you think it's Let's...

Speaker: integrate a lot of these young players, continue to build, and let's continue that Tacoma Defiance pipeline. Where do you sit on that? Um... i Sit firmly. 50 50 on both noah i mean uh like i i think that they both it's It's really a hard decision. um it's ah like especially getting like the ego side out of it.

Speaker: And... um Like... and the biasness i i say it's it's uh for me it's like i say it's it's absolutely even because you have like these young guys that are absolutely fighting for the badge and showing an effort.

Speaker: That. you know and like for years i remember from back in the days when you know even when we were in our righteous glory days like i remember like you guys were like we were all wanting young talent to be like yeah we want some more young talent to come in you know bitch slap these seniors and just like you know not just for us but just don't like no bitch slap the opposing seniors i mean like the way how we was going crazy for Danny Leyva when he like, you know, for his chip.

Speaker: that didn't that never like you know got disallowed i mean like it'd be just seeing that yes it did yes it did yes it did yeah trust me i i trust you i i know it did i i put that too um but i i i absolutely like but like just seeing like the the fans and hearing like that that kind of like joyous like occasion being like yes we want our youth to actually step up on this roster and now that we have it

Speaker: I think, like I said, this with the new CBA and everything coming in next year and all that, like I said, this... it sounds It sounds stupid, but... I think, yeah, like we're holding out.

Speaker: I think Adrian holding out on this is a good thing. for this year. And just this year only. Because... like i said like why bother pay a whole ton for like a whole new another cba that everybody's going to be doing a whole bunch where you're like you know we could have actually got that but no we got stuck in a rut which like we're already kind of stuck in a rut but I'd rather be stuck in this rut now not signing anybody.

Speaker: then absolutely doing what the rest of mls is doing is doing because to be honest i'm calling it as much as everybody's praising about all these signings and bitching that again, I'm like, look, I think it's more of a mayday because as much as it's it looks good now.

Speaker: But I think a lot of these teams are absolutely going to have to pay a price. of something that they're not ready for. that I think it... put it gives us the sounders an advantage to make us be the absolute people that club that people despise because of of course we get away with doing what the magic of what the emerald city does of just doing what the sounders do just bitch slapping the league is like you know usual and high excellent fashion

Speaker: So, um but yeah, i I go back to you for an expert and other questions or follow -ups. Great. my for my I have to go. I'm going to go grab my bag from the press box. oh assume You wrap this one and then I'll be back. I'll be back in two seconds, guys. Sorry. gonna be I don't want to get my, I already lost my wallet today ah in the field, but I'm just trying not to lose anything else.

Speaker: It's going to be so fire when they... save all this gam war chest that they've been accruing and then never spend it and then the roster rules change so there it just is not going to mean anything.

Speaker: That's where that's probably where this is headed, isn't it? but i i mean hey we have a sprint season so maybe you never know that's like the last of like you know like i put all of it into the sprint season and then next thing you know like hey that's ah That's how then then we have new new things. but um but again i mean how do i know but like i don't know anything like about that but um I'm just, but like I said, I think that again we put a good effort for the guys tonight.

Speaker: And I'm probably going to have to get a let like you know a couple more drumsticks to give some new, give some Tacoma guys. you know that earned that earned the badge today so uh I mean, like, you know, so i like, and I'm going to have to definitely do that. And, but yeah, what do you like, what do we like, you know? Just, yeah.

Speaker: Hell yeah. Caleb, we're going to get Nat in here, but you got any last last takes or thoughts you wanted to get out there? Well, I wanted to... actually give uh i wanted to i didn't know yet but i wanted to actually give this a of a little rumor of of the caleb rumor Um...

Speaker: I will, there is a, there is a. Slate. 80, 60 to 80 percent chance that I will make an appearance at a Sounders game. uh against the club of professional wrestling enthusiasts.

Speaker: oh let's go And because I have to make my WWE mark and literally make my you know make my presence known. um And I think it would be an absolute you know thrill to like actually go. So there is a ah big slight chance that I will be going to that game.

Speaker: At Lumen Field. So, ladies and gentlemen, like, you know. please get like like you know hold on to your seat belt fasten your seat belts because you're going to be in for a wild ride with me.

Speaker: um is When is that game? ah That is October 1st. um but like i said it hasn't been uh like i said i haven't like you know it's not like i said it's not official officially yet but It is trending towards that direction of it being absolutely official. You will get updates. I will tag you guys in.

Speaker: keep you guys updated on the on that on that but um I'm going to try to make my my sounder appearance again because it's been it's been a while. My last appearance was in 2023.

Speaker: when we played a scoreless draw against the Timbys. and um so And it's been very long since I have made another appearance and especially playing in the ECS. so I look forward to that.

Speaker: Yeah, absolutely. Keep us updated on that, but good stuff as always tonight, man. Appreciate you. And we'll catch you next time.

Speaker: Uh, All right, looks like we got. Nat, Quincy, and Hunch, and then that's going to be it for the night. Three more. so ah let's get these rolling uh actually i had one super chat to hit before we we keep it rolling. This one's from Malcolm.

Speaker: Thank you for the five. He says, front office probably waiting on the new CBA and roster rules before making any big splash or flashy signings. Yeah, exactly. That's where I'm getting them man that's that, That's the one thing about the Gamoware chest where I'm like...

Speaker: The fake money is not even going to be fake money anymore soon. What are we talking about?

Speaker: All right. A new player has arrived. We are. Oh, you're on my feed and your feed. All right, we're getting that in here right now. You got your bag? Yeah, we're good.

Speaker: What's up, Matt? You're on the stage. 2 -1 -L against Chivas. Tacoma Defiance acquitted themselves reasonably well. What did you think? He's going to need some Stu Hawkins slander to start. All right. You've got to admit the Stu Hawks dime was pristine.

Speaker: I was all, yeah, I was, yeah, I knew that was going to come up. And I was like, sure, I'll start with that. Like, I thought Stu Hawkins was actually. Pretty good today. He played good. I mean, like, he put in a really good ball on that play with Ozaze. And Ozaze's got better. It's on a platter. It's on a platter.

Speaker: No way that's a foul. That's not. He's just got to do better on that play. Stu played really well today. um Santa?

Speaker: Did not. Sandler was bad. Really? I thought he was i thought he was okay. The first goal is his fault. The first goal, he fails another. Yeah. At least he was on the field and not at the White House. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. We don't want him on the team. We can get rid of that maggot. We're not going to talk about him anymore.

Speaker: I'm going to leave it at that. Listen, I'm surprised he didn't show up for this match considering his politics. You know, I mean... ah he was He did not build a border wall around the goalkeeper tonight.

Speaker: In fact, He did not. I'm surprised he wasn't mad. I'm surprised he wasn't mad about being... snubbed for the Patriots game.

Speaker: ye I guess maybe he's too old for that. I'm telling you, the bit that there keeps getting me. You know what's even better is we have no clue what his actual politics are. No, not at all. But it doesn't even matter because, brother, i'm it's like this welcome, it's bit time. It's bit time. you've've you're We're going to preseason to go to the White House. It's a bit. Until he wants to explain himself.

Speaker: I am going to keep. hating on him and I'm going to and in support of my friends who who are immigrants and friends who are trans ah and until he says anything he I'm going to give him crap for going to the White House. But moving on from that.

Speaker: um uh When I got back, I immediately threw my scarves into the washer because they were covered with beer. Shiva, like, it was, like...

Speaker: Sure, it's like... It's sort of fun to see to to see that atmosphere, but they were annoying the shit out of me. like they i mean Guys, you are already eliminated. You have never won a League's Cup game before. Like, I guess that's a reason to celebrate. They've literally not won a League's Cup game.

Speaker: And they were celebrating like they had won the World Cup. maybe Maybe just, you know. Wait, I was told Liga Mekis clubs don't care about this. It's a fake tournament. It doesn't matter. Maybe. maybe I'm just throwing it out there there. I imagine there's a lot of people here tonight who... don't get to watch them in person a lot.

Speaker: because they live here. So maybe that's why they were so lit. Or more than like, yeah, we're winning the League Cup game. They opened up the 300 level for extra fans. for this game, which is, which is not, I mean, like Sounders fans.

Speaker: the sounds fair we got to keep showing up because the fact that they're opening More seats for this game on Wednesday night. and that was filled like that is crazy but like seriously like on every goal like Uh... Just like, what are we doing with all this beer?

Speaker: uh, spring everywhere. Like this is disgusting. Like, and I think I got the most wrenched on their goal that got called back for offsides. They didn't process that for like 10 minutes. The best part is we're sitting in the, we're sitting in the, in the booth and I'm like, that's off. I could see it. And then the flags clearly all the time.

Speaker: The flag was up the whole time. That was no VAR. That dude just had the flag. They were all doing the VAR symbol. And it's like, you guys have literally no idea. No. yeah yeah you turn Turn around. it's they They called it.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. um And, yeah, it's just... And, like... For them celebrating that much, like, in the first, like, they were the better team in the second half. We were the better team in the first half. and like Like...

Speaker: We were playing a second team. It wasn't even like... They can't even say like, I saw some people. For the Quattro game, we're saying like, oh, they're playing their youth teams because of like the 100. number jerseys. um and like that wasn't the case with this team um and like first half we played really well um osase should have scored a second goal on on that On that run in.

Speaker: um I thought in the first half he played he played pretty well. Is he better than he he has been playing? When he's on a breakaway right now, I'm like, oh, it's going right into the keeper.

Speaker: Yeah. It's going to be smashed at 115 miles per hour directly into the goalkeeper. Like, why did Moose not get the start here? Yeah. No, like seriously.

Speaker: Well, I feel like, okay, I feel like Mark Bronick. You're saving Moose for Vancouver. Yeah, you're saving Moose for Vancouver. That's true. But also like. Well, why isn't Bronick playing? Mark Brodick has illness. you said you He would have. He would have. I bet you he would have because he had the call -up, but he was out with illness. That's a... I wouldn't see that. Brodick would have started this. Illness is cold. He ate... Bro, okay, and listen. This is my new conspiracy.

Speaker: I don't know if it's true, but I'm going to i'm goingnna participate in... you know building this up Mark Bronick allegedly had some Taco Bell in Tacoma. And... woof The lettuce got him. I'm just going to say he has illness. The lettuce got him. All right.

Speaker: And... that's That's what I'm going to make up. I mean, he should still get a shot. He's scoring like every game in the defines. in divine game so he should get a chance to play Especially with, like, yeah, Moose scored a goal last time. But still, give Bronick a chance. Like, he has been putting in the work.

Speaker: with the defined so we should get to play um worse than than either but it i seenen He can't be worse than Morris. No. Yeah. And he's your number one.

Speaker: when he's in when he's healthy so yeah i mean he he's also he did it in usl He was, like, the best player in USL. He's done it in next pro. I mean, but we we did talk about all this stuff with Osaze because Osaze.

Speaker: was ripping up mls next pro putting up huge numbers and cpl and cpl but there's a ton of like statistical evidence at this point that like for number nines that usl and even mls next production if your if your benchmarks are a certain thing like it will there's A lot of examples of it actually translating.

Speaker: but uh i mean take a list of da ahly like you couldt You could have said the same thing about Osaze. as we're saying about Brawn Egg. yeah but you know you know maybe bronic it's like He's on the, on the Wando where 2025 Moose. Frack, you don't know.

Speaker: Well, I mean, we were saying this about Ozaze last season. Yeah. they up I mean, he got us to the fight. He scores in the fight. He scored four or five goals in that tournament. and Like, he was so good. um I got to give more love to...

Speaker: uh Charlie Gaffney. They announced it as Charles. I know he doesn't... What are we doing, James? with that and that. It's Charlie. Come on. Chuck. where'ries debut Let's get this right.

Speaker: Charlie Gaffney. um I was being - I - Don't he Played like 70 minutes. I thought it was great the goals weren't his fault. Um, he almost he He almost scored on the press.

Speaker: Oh, I forgot about that. Yeah, you did. So fast. I'm so happy for you. I was happy. when when i saw peter kingston stand up i was like okay we're gonna get he's Daphne is going out for Kingston and that didn't happen. So I was very happy.

Speaker: that we got to see the two Ballard FC players. Play and... In. actually in 2024 in Memorial Ballard FC. were played the Chivas under 23 team in a friendly. And in that game, Peter Kingston. uh assisted Charlie Gaffney. in that game so when it happened i was like it's gonna happen again and if that would have happened what like what a moment

Speaker: That would have been if that happened at the double. um So. I was happy that we got that chance. You have to defend. Peter Kingston. the the remarks on Peter Kingston not being good on set pieces because...

Speaker: Yeah, maybe he didn't have it today, but he can play an incredible ball. Yeah. Yeah. Like, bro, and like, the reason BattleRFC... won the national championship in 2023 is because of Peter Kingston's ability. We already saw this, this season with both of the goals. ah that Peter Kingston got assist in Spokane.

Speaker: All right. because of Peter Kingston being able to play an amazing ball. so All right, I'll let the set Pete's agenda continue. I'm not going to dismiss it. We were talking about it.

Speaker: Thank you very much. Yeah, we we were we were talking about how it was funny that Peter Kingston...

Speaker: is now like the trusted veteran that's coming off the bench with Paul Rothrock to like settle the game. It's like, he's gone from like the upstart Ballard FC kid just trying to break in to like. oh we need to We need to settle this down and bring like the trusted vet on. Pete. yeahset Guys, bring Pete on. It was three weeks ago that he got on the team. yeah three We are so injured that if you've been rostered for three weeks, you're considered a veteran, which is actually so tight. yeah

Speaker: Yeah. I thought Tino Lopez, he played really well in midfield. Like when that lineup, when the lineup came out. That was awesome. And he was in midfield. I was like. What? And I thought he played really well. You said what to the Tino Lopez, Mark O 'Neal double pivot, Matt? Okay, but why? I think he's a center back. Yeah. Why didn't he?

Speaker: Why did that double pivot look better than anything? and like I wouldn't go too far on it. I'm not going too far. It did look better in the first half. And then between the 50th and 70th minute, they got absolutely run on. But I mean, and also they played a different formation. They played a three, four, three. Yeah. We shouldn't talk about it like a four, two, three. yeah yeah um no nos can i do actually agree i honestly Like when you first said the Jackson Reagan take about

Speaker: like is this the time to like trade him huh like i was like I don't know. But now, like, I'm actually like... i was thinking my i like Okay. It is weird. It's weird. Do you remember that Jackson Reagan joined the team and became a starter in 2021?

Speaker: So like. Him being on the team for that long, like... I like I guess. We're used to the Sounders sounders being on the team for forever, like Stephen Fry, who again was a god today. um But.

Speaker: I do feel like it's time that, like... I'll keep looking. being on the team for five. Six seasons? like That's a good time. I'm okay. Maybe. Okay. Maybe. Yeah.

Speaker: He has the value. people still think A lot of people around the league still think of him as an all -star. Because he... it wasn't also like He wasn't all -star, you know. still was best 11 it is it is kind of like like yeah while suspended as well got to play in the all -star game while suspended which is almost gave away a penalty In that game. It's kind of crazy to talk about trading. ah Uh, domestic best 11 all -star.

Speaker: center back who's 27 but it's like It's like, yeah, so crazy. It just might. Cook. you know and like honestly like i'm like it like of the players who have value Right now, like...

Speaker: Because it like we're talking about moving, out obviously, the other DPs, but like it does feel like he... like it seems like or at least in within mos like we could get the most for him so donate don't hate that and like he's been on the team for six years so like it's fine he had his time he's he's always he'll always be remembered he can come back later but like yeah like if we want to open up space That being said... um If I would like him to open up space for...

Speaker: More of Lopez in center back. Like, even though Hawkins was good. i I don't want him to leave and then Hawkins get more time. The time should first go to Lopez first. because I mean, I don't even think you need to decide that. You just let him you let him compete.

Speaker: May the best one win. I think they both bring different things to the table, you know. i uh Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It's it's just it's food for thought. Nat, give us one more take, and then we're going to get Quincy and Hunch in here. Yeah.

Speaker: uh for this game against i mean like Let's... Let's get another let's win again against Vancouver like We already beat them twice this year.

Speaker: uh yeah speak then This would be, um yeah, if we forget this. Forget about her. We did play in Vancouver. We did. Yeah, we've only played them twice this year. It was in CCC, but yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. um Yeah, so let's let's go in again. Let's shut down Mueller again. Let's go in again. that good stuff man Dude, I'm getting called out. i need to respond I need to respond. Who called you out? I was i was a bad... I was a bad podcaster.

Speaker: Before this ends, I need to vent. I got snubbed by Noah because he was fanning over Chivas players headed into the tunnel before warm -ups. He didn't even hear me calling him over. I'm so sorry. i was I was on the content grind and I didn't hear you. and Let me know.

Speaker: Where. if you're if you're down in that area again next match i'll come say what's up and i'll bring you a little present okay So. Just let me know. Much love. Doctor.

Speaker: doctor or send us a DM. on instagram and i'll reply all right you're exonerated uh all right we got quincy and then huch quincy What's up, man? You're on the stage. It's a 2 -1 -L for...

Speaker: Tacoma Defiance. Bye. The kids looked pretty good. What did you see? What did you see what'd you think? Yeah, i I thought it was a good game. I had a couple questions about a specific player. I was wondering what your thoughts were on Gallatin Sandness.

Speaker: um I thought it was. pretty amazing. I mean, he scored. Like he had a lot of good. stops and honestly for somebody coming in from takuma defiance i thought he looked pretty great so i was just wondering what are your Thoughts on him? Not only is he coming in from Tacoma Defiance, he's also just super young coming up.

Speaker: just getting his his kind of... more i mean more senior moments in next pro but again he's he's a young guy he looked he looked literally I mean, this was what started our, we should trade Jackson Ray again.

Speaker: take was like He looks like a bona fide starter. He was doing things out there that, frankly, there's a lot of MLS defenders. double his age that just can't do. I think he's, I mean.

Speaker: He looks like an NFL player. he's and he's huge dude dude he's ripped like i was i'm six foot tall i'm i weigh about like six pounds but like i'm standing up next to him he's towering over me like this i'm like dude can you train me Can you train me? Like, you know, anyway.

Speaker: Great, like... I think he's the future. I think i think i think he there's no way that he stays on the Sounders long term because he's that talented. Oh, see, I hadn't even gone there yet. like Like prospecting wise, like I'm very high. I mean, we just saw, we just saw the kid on the Rapids.

Speaker: Lucas Harrington. He's a Lucas Harrington type. Like a 15 to 17 million dollar. Similar age. I would say more impressive. Physically, Lucas Harrington's elite technically.

Speaker: uh made australia's world cup team and like at 18 so maybe a little bit different style of pedigree but he just went for 20 some odd million dollars so if uh if galley stays on that on this type of trajectory which I was looking at it tonight, and it's like he has what it takes physically. and the scored the goal but like

Speaker: Also, I don't think put a foot wrong defensively either that I remember. So that was one of the things to be most excited about. Probably him. I think Seabass has been... an exciting development. So but yeah, what did what did you think?

Speaker: Yeah, I mean... Just as everything that... You said I would totally agree. I think he's. he's very smart with his decisions well he doesn't often make mistakes things like that And I know that.

Speaker: It seemed like he was very confident out there, not afraid to go into tackles, things like that. So I thought that's a good mentality to have, just especially as a center back. Also, I was curious, do you think he would work, like, best in this type of formation? or different one like what do you what are you guys thinking from him do you think he could step up into like a six or something like that or Oh man, I feel like I would need to see him play. More because I wasn't even thinking six. I was thinking like. ah

Speaker: you know, maybe like a back three situation where maybe can he like attack from out wide at all? I don't know. I do. like I do like the idea of having him be able to be a little bit more vertical, like a little bit more forward, but like, yeah, I mean, try him at the six. I haven't. To be to be honest with you, I haven't. done enough tacoma defiance scouting this year fair fair but um i think

Speaker: probably if we take some more looks and you know what this is a good this is ah actually a good reminder Ari we should do some tape watching. And i gotta grab you do a little write -up on on on yeah on our boy Gal. Listen, I'm going to just say I'm a Gal Glazer. I think he's got it. Well, the other thing I was going to say, you've been a Gal Glazer, but part of that is because... ah Like the people that we talked to.

Speaker: they're like oh yeah staff you know other players all of that like they they see it like and when when you're when your teammates and your staff can see it that's that's a good sign So yeah. Totally. And so. Do you believe that pretty soon you might start becoming a regular?

Speaker: First team my starter even? or just a regular player in general, or what do you guys think? There's a lot of competition at the spot right now because you got Tino emerging this year and you got Stu emerging in the last few weeks. But one thing about Schmetz is that if you're you're working hard and you're balling and training.

Speaker: uh And there' there's going to be opportunities for everyone. We all know that in in MLS. So if he if he keeps doing what he's doing. I don't know if he's going to be like a starter, but he'll get I think he'll get more opportunities. He definitely earned another opportunity tonight.

Speaker: Yeah, I mean, it's... it's It's tough with Brian Schmetzer, too. like He will give opportunities, but he's also very picky at center back. He always wants veterans back there. you know Kim Keehee getting minutes tonight. you know He's getting better about that. The fact that he actually is finally playing Stu this year, it's like, yeah, he only did it by necessity, but he yeah he did but he did do it. I think, though, that like to the point of us all kind of rating him so highly and like the club also very clearly rating him highly, there's there comes a point where you can't. like

Speaker: sit him. Like you're going to get to a point where you'd be there after. If you're not going to play him, you're alone him to somewhere. He's just going to play meaningful, like first team minutes and then like a competitive league, something like that. So I think that they understand that it's like.

Speaker: he's going to be a key player going forward. So, I mean. I hope I'd love to see him play more. I'd love to see him and Stu Hawkins play together more. I liked the. the the lineup they did tonight with the three in the back like I don't know. I didn't mind it at all. so i hope I hope. I hope he gets more minutes.

Speaker: Yeah. For sure. Oh that was all. I have. but Thanks for. Thanks for letting me talk. Peace. Anytime, Quincy. Appreciate you, man. Take care. All right. We have got hunch to close it out and then that's going to be it.

Speaker: for the night so hunch you are once again Bringing us home. You're on the stage right now. Once I'm in. 21L, but Tacoma Defiance acquit themselves with...

Speaker: competitive dignity. What did you what did you think, hunch? i mean i I'll say it. Again, i I just do not give a crap about this tournament at all. And I'm glad to see that.

Speaker: We're getting the U S open cup. Roster treatment now, finally. in terms of the That was an open cup lineup, yeah. That's exactly what it was. That was Schmetz being like, you're going to not let us play in the open c cup? Well, I'm going to make it to the open cup.

Speaker: But. With the people that have been trolls Bartered. Sold. you know, loaned whatever. He has lost what he got from this game.

Speaker: in those players. Because he could use those players to do what the players tonight did. to his starting. roster. Right. which he referenced. Because that's his big that is the main tool in his tool belt. It has been for years.

Speaker: i We will threaten your spot and we'll do it by bringing up somebody who. Has more energy, cares more, tries harder, and listens.

Speaker: Why it's taking this long to get to this point? And not, I don't know, eight games before now? I don't know. Ah. And him calling out, we don't need a tan player, we need more of this. And it's like, well, who's in charge of more of this, guy? Like, is there a mirror in that press conference? Because there's one place that definitely starts.

Speaker: oh But... I don't know. and that Yeah. A lot of beer throwing. I thought it was hilarious because it was in like the 65th and like 68th. Or like 63rd and 68th.

Speaker: Minutes of the game. And the last call is at 70. So it's just like. You guys just wasted $20 and you can't even get another beer now. Like you're going to sit here for the rest of the game, which bad for the stadium.

Speaker: Good for the fans. cause someone Someone threw one at the AR after he called the goal offside. I'm like, dude, he was literally offside. he's all You want him to not call it just because – He was off. So you don't throw your beer like – I've never understood. Listen, like I love a good beer shower, like, you know, a little half celebration. Maybe you got to cut, you know, whatever. But also like, listen, I am, I am. um when your resources are as such.

Speaker: I'm not throwing a $20 beer anywhere. Right. That is going in my body. And if I'm a beer vendor. I'm drinking one. if i'm a guy walking the stands i am sitting at the bottom just waiting for the next goal and just going refill who needs them yeah you so yeah you get just hold the cups up yeah or open your mouth and ah You know?

Speaker: free but free beer. I just really don't want... I mean, you're right. Like... I was telling a friend a couple things. One, I was like, just be prepared. You're not going to recognize half the team that starts tonight. And that was before we even saw. was starting 11 and of course that was right But I was like, just imagine if you were in New Zealand.

Speaker: and you lived there for 20 years and the sounders came to play you'd go pack out that stadium or whoever, you know, if there was a fan base for Sounders there, like. It's the same thing. like This is gonna be a magnet for... Well, I can see my team here locally to where I live now. It's like, you're going to go.

Speaker: but by the same token like That shouldn't inspire Sounders fans to shell out money for this stupid tournament. Like. They sold more tickets to their fans intentionally. If they could have sold of a whole stadium to Chivas fans, they would have done it.

Speaker: They should have. Why not? Yeah. It's bread, dude. Catch that bread. May as well. You're eliminated anyway. May as well catch the bread. but also it's just like it doesn't make me care about it as a sounders fan now here's the other side though and this is the thing that cuts if i'm gonna pay to go watch this team play i'm gonna pay because i want them to be formidable And... and Make the effort. and not anything against this roster i thought it was adequate but

Speaker: It's the tactics that did it in and that's the thing that special colors not the tactics. It was the tactics We went up a goal, and then we proceeded to allow ourselves to be shielded. for the rest of the first half.

Speaker: And we proceeded to be shelled for the beginning of the second half. and He's like, well, we could have made it 2 -2. How about you make it 2 -0? Because maybe then they just shut down since they're in preseason. And they're like, okay, you know what? We're not going to expand. We already got somebody injured in this game. We're we're not going to worry about this. But instead, we invited them back into the game. so See, I don't know if it was invited as much as it was they were in that mode where they just couldn't keep the ball.

Speaker: At all. Like, it's not it's not like even by I think there were times where they were trying to at least take the sting out of the situation a little bit. And they it would just there be a giveaway or. So they would bully him off the ball. they would keep a ball They were keeping just Osase up top, and they were bringing three in in possession around the back line, and Osase wasn't going to run three people down. They eventually brought Jesus up to be two up top, and that put them under pressure, but then we lost control of the midfield.

Speaker: Which if you're going to bring Alex on. to re -get control so that we're pressing the point of confrontation further to the field, which is what happened. Why did we wait until we? coughed up two goals, especially after the first one. It was like, if you're going to bring them on, bring them on. Let's have an impact. whatever it doesn't matter like you said it doesn't matter But if you really think people are going to care about this tournament now, just wait until next year when it's the preseason.

Speaker: Then it's gonna be He'd be off the hook. Oh, I didn't even think of that. Oh yeah. You talk about not caring. Oh, I can't wait to not care. That's how much I didn't care. i thought This felt like preseason to me. That's what I'm saying. i like People don't understand that this calendar change is a personal.

Speaker: benefit to myself i would like to be on a beach somewhere preferably here in Seattle. not worrying about any of this. Drinking a Rainier. eating a Tim's jalapeno chip.

Speaker: This is perfect for me personally. Yeah. It's going to save me money. You know what? League's Cup as preseason is actually one of the best ideas. on Yeah. know It's tight.

Speaker: a's let's in let's You know what? And let's do it. And let's do it. i mean especially with the the winter break because i i really i hate the calendar change i really do and that's a whole i mean if we ever do it under the lights and something we can just talk about that but um i i'm highly inclined to distill the first half of the season and go to the second half of season because what the fuck do i care

Speaker: See, they need a clasura and an apertura like they do in Liga MX. I truly believe that. Hunch, if they win the Sprint Season Cup, do you want them to hang a banner?

Speaker: Oh, I'll go. i like well so here's Here's the real stupid thing. They could be planning for that right now, especially if they get eliminated from the playoffs relatively soon and really just double down on like, we are going to come out and blitz.

Speaker: the western conference for 15 games or whatever it is next spring because no one's going to be ready and we're going to be set up and ideally I would even accept pushing signings to the winter.

Speaker: to do exactly that To really just come out when no one's ready to punch somebody in the mouth and and we do we do that Um, I... Yeah, and we should. It's a competition. It's everybody playing. Whatever. You know what's going to happen is the goddamn Timbies are going to win the sprint season. They're going to hang the sprint season cup next to the MLS's back.

Speaker: Woo! um You know what? They should call it MLS is back. i think that they should do that like i think genuinely they should call this sprint season mls is back am i crazy for that oh oh man i'm torn between thinking that that's a a fire bit and also getting like COVID bubble flashbacks.

Speaker: Well, Yeah. If it's the same playoff structure. Is it possible we have as many playoff games as regular season games? That's kind of awesome though. I kind of love that. I think they should just do like some, they should do a world cup style tournament. Yeah. Group stage.

Speaker: Yeah, like but extended group stage. And do that instead of this. This bullshit. like Yeah, you do four groups. You take the number one and two seeds from the east and west and put them in the top of those four groups and then fill it out with whoever's underneath. Exactly. MLS is back again.

Speaker: Oh, man. In Spanish, you gotta be like... MLS Cup is back, but in Spanish again, you know. that's That bit totally – You realized mid -bit that you didn't speak the language. I realized mid -bit that my – My... Elementary school level Spanish was not about to help me here. It's always the worst when you're mid -bit and you realize the bit is cratering. Yeah, exactly. oh I think people need to lay off Osase.

Speaker: Okay, explain. Because I'm... i'm i'm seething about this two Hawks time. I well am too, but she needs minutes. and When you're so limited and it's so sporadic. No, he needs to finish the tap -in. You're not wrong, but he needs cycles consistently up there to get this rusty crap out of his system.

Speaker: and so the He looked more like himself. I don't know, man, because listen. He wouldn't work himself to the fact that he ever has. I'm finishing that. I just, I don't even understand what happened. No, like I'm legit. Like not even to like, not even to like be like this, but.

Speaker: Listen, I play pickup. a lot I'm not saying that I'm a good soccer player by any means. Listen, I have no pedigree. I got no pedigree, but what I'm telling you is.

Speaker: That's a poke. That's a fall in. toe poke that shit into the goal it's there oh watch it was spinning perfect it was at the perfect pace he he decided because he whipped on it to just lay on the ground and like that's even more embarrassing i'm not saying it's wrong and i'm not saying it's bad But the way to get him out of this is to give him more minutes Building chemistry with hazies behind them. which is I've been harping on that for a minute. And let those two really get an Oba Dempsey.

Speaker: Type yo chemistry going and then you've got paul in the wing who could be part of the triangle and whoever's on the right Like... Osase looked more like himself than he has since last year. And that is more of a brute force, like ah like a... um Oh, God, and I just blanked on his name. The guy from Toronto for the U .S. Men's National Team. Big dude. us. Yeah. he He's more of a Josie player. And then.

Speaker: Not that he can't have a deaf touch But... he then falls back on what looks more like his dad and he he's really not built like his dad you play i just feel like he's not playing like i don't know he played more physical tonight than he has since That was the first time he's had multiple chances in a game and I don't even know how long. But but that that's the... like here's what here's my here's my take on all of this and like i'm also crashing out so Probably in a week and a half, my tape will change. We're all upset about the Stu Hawks. We're upset about the Stu Hawks.

Speaker: but My take... quickly and then i'll let you i'll let you i'm gonna i've been talking over you so i'll let you you um The. he he like the The times in which he looked the most impressive was when he had the ball at his feet, when he was coming from out wide and coming in. His preseason goals where he looked like an absolute beast, he was coming in from the outside dribbling. He had the ball at his feet. He wasn't doing this fucking Jordan Morris, Danny Musavsky kind of like.

Speaker: um poacher, finisher type of thing, right? Right, so yes. what Why, why if if you know that your team is set up to play like that.

Speaker: He's not ever going to be effective if that is what he's good at. So either it's a lack of his ability to adapt to that, which is fine. Again, I don't think he's a terrible striker. clearly he can score a lot of goals and we've seen the talent. Dude, the Osase quake is exactly what I'm talking about. He needs more touches, lower in the box. He needs to receive that ball and turn on it and have some touches. Post post people up.

Speaker: Yeah, post people up. He needs to get in the paint and do the dirty work. He needs to shack that shit. and that's when He's not Shaq in that shape. I saw that more tonight. than I have against. Yeah. to 2025 and he was bodying people off and he was even doing to the point where he had the breakaway because he literally bodied the guy right out of the way and just hauled ass down the field. and then one more my cause Yes. Yes. Yeah, exactly. And then I was like, Oh my God, he's going to put it right. That's okay. That's the, that's the rush of blood to the head. And that's what I'm saying with repetition.

Speaker: calmness serenity comes with that and Dudes out there like I gotta do this. I gotta do this. I gotta this I can't fuck this up And then here we are. He needs reps. i've been making I've been making a similar argument about the entire...

Speaker: front four even even uh rusnak i've been saying the same shit it's like yeah has he been effective no but when he's receiving the ball down by the goddamn

Speaker: sideline all the way to the right halfway towards his own goal. then Yeah, he's probably not going to be. Effective. and then when you put him actually in a place where you know that he has been effective, it looks a little better. So it's it's a similar idea. Right.

Speaker: It is, but for me... and What I hope and want out of Resnack is for him to get the ball somewhere in the middle of the field. possess it somewhere in the middle like literally middle like middle circle up towards the attacking third and distribute it i don't want him receiving the ball in the attacking turn. I want him... putting the ball into the attacking third to multiple options and then maybe becoming one in them.

Speaker: himself with a one -two. I want him distributing. That's what I want out of him. but That's neither here nor there. Um, G -Sadness looks good. It looks good. We love him. We love him.

Speaker: Okay, you're a galleyhead. Gal Glaser. Yep. um As far as the the Reagan thing, man, we got to have stability at one line at least while we focus on improving the middle and front lines. we're ready to Dude, we're ready to blow it up. all right i you did hand We're tanking for the Superdraft. Do you think another million or 200 ,000 is going to get a result?

Speaker: Yeah. i just What I'm saying is we're going to lose Gamer at some point. Having one fixed point so that we can slot in somebody else with some stability. It's not a bad thing. While we focus on the midfield.

Speaker: at least in the center in the front in terms of... And I agree with you. I do think... our nines could show promise again with a core stability in the middle with More of a sixth play. And I've talked about this with Christian Roldan before. When Christian took two years, because his brother also took two years, before they became... anything but like a lark in the middle of the field like just ball chasers didn't know what they were doing and then

Speaker: I call it the world in two year turn, like something just flips. And after that, it's like, Oh shit, they figured it out. And. Roldan like Adapted. No. or adopted, I would say.

Speaker: play style from Ozzy playing next to him. And he developed those chops. And then when Ozzy was kind of... wavering and it was more rolled on in himself. then he was playing alongside lodero and he had he developed those chops and he became this like this weird hybrid so it's like he can flex into those things and he's covered a lot of wounds for us and that he's been able to.

Speaker: play similar styles he's regressed more in the last year and a half to the his aussie role which is good because that's what we needed. But... It is a weak point for us because obviously he's the singular point.

Speaker: for that. And so, yes, we do need that. I think. i said it in the chat or whatever like Brunel needs the same two years that... Obed and... Christian Gott.

Speaker: So he's better than one and a half in my opinion I need stability, hopefully with Christian being next to him. to develop. and then once he's solid ideally you've got a good backup ready slash replacement for rolled on. But.

Speaker: Yeah. um As far as Sunday goes man, I don't know. I don't know It's weird that we're playing. Vancouver for the third time, but yet the first time in Seattle.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah. And there... arguably the best team in the league? I think that's a good take. but did they They were the first few times, weren't they? Exactly. the so like But also, you know...

Speaker: That was just a different time. You had Paul Areola going supernova in Vancouver. You're not going to have that. Yeah, just unleash him, dude. You're not going to have that this time. But, like...

Speaker: I mean, it is it is a team they have beat twice this year. That's not for nothing. But, that this I mean, this Vancouver team. is Legit. They're for real. They got Tommy Mule. it's it's they're good they got a thousand mules dude they're about to stuff the ballot box and the mu the only person they can stop the mules You know who it is?

Speaker: It's one center back. Stuart Hawkins. No. He went to the White House. Oh, okay. This is a deep in the politics meme lore that we don't even need to get into. Also, Hunch's cat wants to also say something. Oh yeah, she's co -hosting with me. Hunch, tell us, which cat? Who's this?

Speaker: Oh this is Marceline. What does she think of? of guarantee and sadness. I mean, she's an all -black cat, so she's down. okay there we go there we go as as far as uh sailor goes by the way that's something else It... yeah Dude's never gonna live it down But I don't think he's above forgiveness. Eventually, we're just going to have to be like, all right. you know Yeah, we can make fun of it. but

Speaker: But we'll be past it eventually. Listen, I'll move past it, but also it's like, I'm sorry, that is legitimately our most liked Instagram post. I'm not arguing against it. funny bit he's he's a He's a club legend for it.

Speaker: like yeah know he has He has one of the funniest legacies on this team. and Zero minutes played, White House debut. he's white house data yeah that he's playing now that he's like actually been a part of the team for the last couple weeks, it's like slightly less funny, but it's still...

Speaker: It's still funny. yeah's No, this is a good good thing here. I say we ask White House friend to ask for some time to sign someone. let's See, this is good. There's so many ways we can go about this.

Speaker: Ugh. Next thing you know. Uh... Sailor's gonna be showing up to the stadium in a... He's going to storm the catering truck. That's how he's gonna enter the stadium. He was storming Lumen Field like... hi Anyway, don you got anymore they were we We were coming up on two hours this morning. I mean.

Speaker: they're They're hinting at two signings, potentially. but i mean I don't want it. Don't do it. hope for that Don't do it. And then, like I said, i my... my my Victory condition for today.

Speaker: which i think we've got to the best of our knowledge is. No injuries. No injuries. as As the staff said today to me twice.

Speaker: No injuries, and that's a win. Is it good when you get to the end of the game with no injuries and everyone's like, yeah! Yeah! You guys want to go throw a party? I should have my beer. I should have my beer. We've stopped the bleeding. Literally. And I don't even feel comfortable saying that before we know how everyone came out of this tomorrow. Don't worry. We save injuries for the training after. Yeah, exactly. We save injuries for the high -volume running and training that we do after. Dude, I'm on edge right now. There was one point where Paul Rothrock got his toe stepped on and he was hopping around. Or it was like...

Speaker: That's a hammy. He literally threw his hands up. He's like. That's a hammy, dude. But, you know, it made me think, like, you know, everyone's blaming the medical staff. Everyone's talking about. This and that. But, that like, why is it there are some guys that, like, you know, knock on wood, I don't want to put anything, like, negative out there, but, like. I've never seen Paul Rothrock or Osaze or some of these guys. do their hammies.

Speaker: like some of these hey whoa whoa whoa let's can we what are you doing what are you doing all right Jesus Christ. I'm just like, am I wrong? like i just Careful. That's all I'm saying. I get it. I'm just looking for pearls, brother. is Yeah, the Homer Simpson. Yet.

Speaker: meme like you're inviting that it happens to some guys and doesn't seem to happen to others it's it's it's a part of the phenomenon that i think is worth acknowledging well they they know why it's true because because people are going to say it's the training staff then like why is it specific people that it's like targeted at it's that they know why rock rock is ah immune to it he had his hamstrings removed

Speaker: exactly that's what we they also haven't ruled out because we've gotten this question a few times and someone has alluded to it there is a power allegedly a power substation close oh my god too long in your training facility which we do still need to investigate and like i just don't know oh my god i need to book a hamstring specialist doctor for the show i need to book a substation okay the substation expert definitely could just go on joe rogan and search

Speaker: electricity expert and we'll get whoever comes up for someone dead serious horse graveyard yes horse graveyard i'm not i'm not i'm not joking i'm not joking i hadn't even talked about this yet but like I was looking up hamstring doctors to like, he actually did. No, you did tell me. Oh, did I? yeah Well, I don't know if I told you, I actually took the step of like, I've researched like people to ask.

Speaker: hamstring like doctors that specialize in hamstring and muscle injuries i'm looking for one right now that i'm gonna like do an interview with and we're gonna we're gonna learn we're gonna learn together about yeah what is going on with this team um we do have a recommendation for someone to talk about the substations and it is actually ryan saylor's very close personal friend our a kids feel

Speaker: Some people were also saying it was the curse of the grass. And now the earth was back. We lifted the curse. Oh, dude. Sailor is going to be so lit on the substation conspiracy. He's going to be like, this is why I haven't played all year. Dude, I told you guys. Oh.

Speaker: All right. where's off the rails all right let's think Last thing. Shout out to to the murderer's row of callers tonight. you know caleb and james and tribe who started and i'm forgetting people already uh jesus who's now been a regular like just Top notch Top notch.

Speaker: we love you guys thank you for always calling in and uh it makes our it makes us cope and rationalize instead of seething alone honestly like this has definitely been the worst run of form Uh,

Speaker: for the team since lobbing scorchers has been a thing and i feel like we've maintained our vibes like oh yeah like You know it when the L's stack up We we still got each other, you know.

Speaker: So.

Speaker: And that's my cope and rationalization for the night. There we go. All right, Heinz. We appreciate you. you See you again soon. And yeah, whoa, he didn't give a shout out to Matt. He didn't shout out Matt. He didn't shout out Quincy. That's a fake grinder. Matt, I guess you're a fake grinder, so.

Speaker: let's Should we watch this gal interview and then get out of here? Oh, sure. It'll take it'll take like, yeah it's like seven minutes. I'm in no rush. Okay. Well, I have the Fry one, but the Fry one's like 10 minutes. Play the Gal one and then we'll...

Speaker: Yeah, okay, okay, okay. This is just from the locker room after the game? This is, well, there's it's mixed up. Oh, League's Cup Mixed Zone. Yeah, dude. So I got Mixed Zone audio. Actually, the the Sounders might have uploaded it by now, but I'm just going to use my video because whatever.

Speaker: How do you do this? Okay. Guys, this is unlisted. Don't go and watch it. um Sweet. We'll be right back, guys. What do you mean? i mean

Speaker: I grew up here. in Seattle. Oh, this audio might be awful. I didn't even think about this. Let's see. I grew up and i just north of U -Dub, northeast Seattle. You grew up watching Step Fry, your car. Yeah, Step Fry, Poseidon, Spur the Ball, and the that mean to you? Yeah, honestly, it was crazy good.

Speaker: When I scored the goal, I think my hips went blank. You know, that's something I... not scoring, but just dream about playing for the Sounders when I was young. And so to be able to start in front of the fans, I mean, it was absolutely unreal. So I'm very grateful. you know for this opportunity and you know hopefully there's more.

Speaker: Can you walk me through that goal a little bit? I saw you had a great reaction with your foot on that, but it felt like it just landed right for it too. Yeah, no, I would see those header back across. It was perfect. You know, I just got really lucky to be honest. And some guys in the locker room told me my reactions are pretty funny. So I haven't seen it at all. But, you know, obviously, like I said, my head went blank, you know, I was just really excited to score. And so, you know, it's such a great feeling. Before the goal, the opportunity you get.

Speaker: to step into an international match wearing that. That jersey, can you take us to that? yeah for sure no uh when they put the lineup out the day before the game obviously it was ah a lot of emotions you know it's a younger squad out there with all of us and you know like Eddie, some guys I've grown up with in the academy, you know, we've dreamed about this moment. and so to share it with a bunch of other younger guys and then

Speaker: you know to finally have the moment is unreal you know obviously there's some nerves and some other stuff but you know a lot of excitement and just you know really grateful for everyone that's helped helped all of us you know get to this stage in our careers so hopefully there's more i'm sorry i was trying to rush this one how much does this help you just will propel you. in terms of saying yes i can and moving

Speaker: towards tomorrow, whether that's practice or your next game? How much is this of a... jumping off yeah i think it definitely gives confidence where you know i've now played in an environment against a very good Chivas team. And so you get that experience and say, you know, they're really good, but at the end of the day...

Speaker: It's soccer we're playing. so kind of takes me back to you know I'm a soccer player when we're on the field we're just playing soccer you know what I mean it doesn't really matter. who you're up against to the stage like you just gotta gotta trust yourself honestly and so you know it gives me confidence going into the week later but you know Yeah, I think it's just another another stepping stone to hopefully keep growing.

Speaker: you know to kind of Brian Schmetzer shared that you guys played for the badge tonight and that was the difference between what he's seen in these past teams. playing with your you know people who you've grown up with and being a sounder.

Speaker: i know that you said how much it means but like did that propel you tonight stepping on the field like i can be that guy i think so yeah i mean when you put on the the jersey it's it's a pretty crazy feeling and so you know having an environment growing up a sounders fan and then you know After all these years, you know being able to step on the field, like i mean it's it's crazy. know I think that helped repel us. Obviously, the result is not what we wanted.

Speaker: At the end of the day, that's the most important thing, so we are disappointed. but I do think there was some fight and some character there that...

Speaker: we we can be proud of and take away. It seemed to a little bit like you guys were playing like backyard soccer a bit. Like everyone, a lot of people know each other growing up. Did that kind of take a little bit of the pressure off playing with some guys you've known for a long time? Yeah, I think so. I think it was a young squad. So, I mean, we really said, I mean, there's not a lot of pressure. Like we go out there, you know, everyone. you know, work as hard as you can and then also just enjoy it like some guys making debuts first starts for a lot of us and so

Speaker: really just trying to soak in the moment as best we can and you know also just work as hard you know what i mean work with the guys you've been playing with for a long time and so i think that helped yeah hoter were there any bets that had Any advice for you for your first start? yeah i think everyone was just saying enjoy it like i said it's just soft at the end of the day you know as saturated as that may seem but

Speaker: like you know steph right behind you making a big saves and stuff i think he's a very common presence any tactics and just give us advice and i think he's a great leader and then as well as all the other guys on the bench just really help keep us grounded and say at the end of the day you know just enjoy the experience and so they all helped a lot really like i was The first 35 minutes were really good for the team you guys were playing.

Speaker: really good and then after that Chivas started balancing the game. but what What happened in your opinion? Yeah, I think it's tough to say. Obviously, you know, that goal, I think, helped give us some momentum. And before, I think we had a bit more energy and were able to get into them. and then I think they grew into the game and were able to to get on top of us, especially in that second half. and so

Speaker: It comes from all of us, you know, maybe tired legs. They've had a lot of the ball. I don't know a specific reason why, but I just think. You know, we need to be better at controlling our possessions. I think we keep it all the way a lot. um myself included for sure. and so just all getting more experience but like i said it was a young squad out there inexperienced you know hopefully and

Speaker: years to come the games to come we'll have more of that experience to help really propel us through those tough moments but i think it was ah a big learning moment and that's an experience chivas team out there it's like that's ultimately part of the reason, like you said, that they they were on top of us.

Speaker: you know Boom. Dude, how does he have such a veteran presence? I was going to say, like, sometimes when you get these young guys doing their first media stuff, it's a very clear lack of... ah lack of polish but then sometimes you get the guys who go up there for the that's that's got to be one of his first scrums that he's had to do i'm sure he did one uh you know with defiance or with the first team at some point but like

Speaker: Not a guy who gets to talk to media a lot, and I thought he was smooth with it. He was he was fielding those questions. He was dishing his answers all around. so impressive stuff impressive performance And. I think.

Speaker: If there's any positive to take away from the tournament this year. it's the It's the, it's him. it's multiple other young guys sea bass I think.

Speaker: So that's. at least something to hang on to in these trying times yeah for sure no it's it's good to see him he I feel like it was nice to have such a good interview. He didn't even seem nervous.

Speaker: like he just I think that was what. was so beautiful about this game. And I think that that interview really encapsulated was like, Yes. We lost this match, and yes,

Speaker: It doesn't rock. But like... Being able to see the young players go out there basically with no expectations that you were going to win, compete incredibly well, look like you could have won the game.

Speaker: and just getting to see how it shakes out was like. you know i mean What more could you ask for? And I think being able to see you know More of Gal and more of all of these other guys. gaff Charlie Gaffney again, who...

Speaker: I know what this means to him. like i wanna to get I want to get him on the pod because I need to know, like... in his own words what this means to him because he was legitimately a Saunders. season ticket get over since 2009 coming with his family getting to be in this field, look up at his season tickets that he was once sitting at, idolizing the players on the field, getting to be there and play against Chivas.

Speaker: Like even like Yao just said right there, like yeah being on the field and Steph Fry's behind him. That must have been crazy for him and Chuck. Like, yeah that's crazy. and that's what i love about this club and that's what like we've been we've been kind of down on the built not bought mantra lately. I've been saying you gotta to combine it into built and bought yes uh but this did that that type of stuff is why like the build part of it.

Speaker: does matter and You'll, you'll be better. You also got a bot. You'll be better for it. Yeah, you got a bot too. but you will be better for being built. in the long run then you then a team that is fully bought like enter miami will be in the long run so Yes. Is that Cope? Yeah, but...

Speaker: i do actually believe it no i think that's a good place to call it we've been ripping for two and a half hours so another banger post game show as always thank you all for uh Calling in, tuning in. Please like the video also if you want more awesome written content from us.

Speaker: Wobblingscorchers .com, new independents. Websites. so We're all independent. Everything is independent. We're independent. Uhhh...

Speaker: independently about to get on the light rail so we love you guys sailors independent from the white house we're gonna like the video thumbs up the five stars All that gets... Okay, yeah, that's...
