Zachary Jeblonski: Hello, hello. Welcome to another episode of Midlife's Crisis. I'm Zach. I'm joined again by Charles. How are you doing today?

ciderspence: Good. How are you doing, Zach?

Zachary Jeblonski: I'm doing. All right. We're both sick boys or on the recovery thereof. what What did you get? did you get like I got a little bit of a cold situation.

ciderspence: Yeah. just some throat thing that then turned into a drainage thing so i basically feel fine but I sound gross so I apologize to everyone.

Zachary Jeblonski: All right, well, that's cool. I sound fine, but I am gross, so that works out. Yeah, so it was like last... Last weekend I went to...

Zachary Jeblonski: a brief weekend vacation at the Near the Hamptons. and uh One of the, you know, was just a group. Kind of thing. Bunch of friends and stuff. and one of the couples had a had a young A newborn practically. Well, no, about a little over a year.

Zachary Jeblonski: And I'm pretty sure that's where I caught it because. That's just how it goes with kids.

ciderspence: Yep, I'll echo that mine is At least. potentially because my kids just went back to school or my son just went back to school so

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh. yeah

ciderspence: He's around a new set of kids, so he probably brought whatever. Whatever he found in the classroom home that's a possibility i don't know i can't blame him but it might be his fault

Zachary Jeblonski: No, I mean I like to think of the immune system as like a muscle, you know, we're just working it out We're just getting it ready for flu season. That's all Speaking of which, listeners, reminder, flu shot, get it?

ciderspence: Cosine

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I got a... I got to make that appointment. Wow, this is the most interesting of topics that we've started off with this this week. and We don't call it midlife's crisis for nothing, all right?

Zachary Jeblonski: You're going to get your magic talk, but you're also going to get a lecture on flu shots.

ciderspence: You've heard of baby brain? This is 80 brain. We're not actually 80, but we're talking as if we were 80. And this is this is what's going through our heads.

Zachary Jeblonski: does it Does it count if I feel 80?

ciderspence: Absolutely.

Zachary Jeblonski: All right. Well enough dilly -dallying I suppose. Are you ready to talk about... Some of the games you played this week.

ciderspence: Always.

Zachary Jeblonski: All right. Do you want to you want to kick us off?

ciderspence: Yeah, so I got in two games this week. Well, like one and three -quarter games.

Zachary Jeblonski: Nice.

ciderspence: The first game I played was with...

ciderspence: and why can't i remember oh yeah it was uh ironheart clever champion So she is four and a blue. She has improvised and she gives. Non -creature spells you control improvise. She is a...

ciderspence: Flyer, I don't know three three or four four something But she's a deck that I put together during the Marvel.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: set relief. Time. And I had been tweaking her a lot. I hadn't. Ever finished putting in the cards. I wanted to put in But. I was basically trying to sleeve up another deck so I wanted to go with something that I had that was ready.

ciderspence: and i was like it's your time i want to run you back and i had a really fun game with her

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay. What's that? What do you how you? what are you doing what is it like artifacts or like How are you winning with her?

ciderspence: Yeah, so I mean the I think. It's artifacts. I play a few things that make artifacts cheaper, several things that copy artifacts. So for instance,

ciderspence: Things were good. There's like an Iron Man from or an Iron Lad. There's an iron something from the Marvel set that copies the first artifact spell you cast. except the copy is not legendary so i was able to use that to get a copy of simulacrum synthesizer

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh, yep, yep.

ciderspence: And it was at a time when I...

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: I didn't have a lot of creatures on the board but what's nice is because I copied it whatever came in first saw the second one enter so I was able to make a construct right off the bat which is pretty exciting. And then I was able to, with both simulacrum synthesizers on the battlefield.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

ciderspence: Cast a kick Skyclay Relic and copy that. So then I got.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

ciderspence: Six more. No, I got... Twelve more? Should it have been 12? I think it should have been 12. Oh, maybe I didn't copy it. Anyway, I got the two copies, and each of those is three or more mana, so each simulacrum synthesizer saw all three of them enter.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

ciderspence: I guess I wasn't able to, maybe that was the same turn. Yeah, maybe it was the same turn, so I wasn't able to copy this guy. correct But anyway, so those were the manner shenanigans to which I was up. And then I got vandal blasted and it was.

ciderspence: A good time. You know.

Zachary Jeblonski: yeah

ciderspence: for Not for me at that point, but i you know that that makes for a fun... It was just... you know. Things got out of hand. Opponent dealt with it. And then one shortly thereafter. Yes. you know it was a fun game

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay, good. Good. You don't have to divulge of the the name, but which which place did you play this at?

ciderspence: This is the place that I typically... I just finished these games, so i this is my Thursday night spot.

Zachary Jeblonski: okay. Gotcha, gotcha.

ciderspence: that I think you've been to before. I

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, a long time ago.

ciderspence: It's pretty far from my house, so i had I kind of stopped playing here, but I find that...

Zachary Jeblonski: I need to give it another shot at some point.

ciderspence: it's it's kind of my old reliable, so when I really want to get a game in. i i know I can always find a good one here. and tonight I didn't disappoint.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay. Okay. And the the vibes are right there.

ciderspence: Yeah, I like the vibe here a lot.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay, good.

Zachary Jeblonski: All right. I got two games in two and both of them were. at the store on tuesday i

Zachary Jeblonski: so I got two games in on Tuesday. And... They were weird. That's what I'll say.

Zachary Jeblonski: The... The first game I played with my Marin deck. And. i put I put an extra card in the in the in the... the spreadsheet because not because i i i want to make it my car the week but because This card almost kind of ruined the game in a way for me.

Zachary Jeblonski: So. I'm not getting ahead of myself. I was playing Mare and it's all creatures. I assume at this point. Everybody knows what Marin does. And the game was going normally.

Zachary Jeblonski: And I got. I can't remember exactly. Oh, yeah, I got board wiped a couple times. My graveyard was huge. Cause I had like several self millers that have went off and all that graveyard's huge.

Zachary Jeblonski: And I play not my car of the week, but. a very pivotal car. I play. a Bringer of the Last Gift. And because... This deck is creatures only.

Zachary Jeblonski: You know, I needed a way to find board wipes And this was one of them that's attached to a creature. And what he says is when he enters, he's a six black black, so eight mana. When he enters the battlefield, if you cast it.

Zachary Jeblonski: Each player sacrifices all of the creatures they control. and each player returns all creatures from the graveyard that weren't put this way to the battlefield. So basically, you just swap the creatures on your battlefield with the creatures in your graveyard.

Zachary Jeblonski: And. I... Plopped out probably over 30 creatures doing this. And it was a trigger. Nightmare. that's And.

Zachary Jeblonski: and also i don't i don't have my deck full of a lot of etb triggers or like etb triggers like win the game like i don't have gary in the deck So I took this enormous ridiculous turn and then didn't like kill anybody off of it.

Zachary Jeblonski: And it took me like several more turns to kill people. and i and i realized like i i need some more finishers in the deck And also. i yeah I'm promptly taking this card out because I...

Zachary Jeblonski: It is such a trigger nightmare when it does happen that it's just not worth. the hassle. I'd rather just somebody recommended massacre girl. And I forgot all about that card existing for some reason.

Zachary Jeblonski: So I'm just going to do a one -for -one swap with him in Massacre Girl. But yeah. that was That was a wild game.

ciderspence: Yeah, it's always tricky when You do a lot. But it doesn't. and but I mean... I guess that's always my issue with. chaos cards right is that they cause a lot of confusion And when a player is able to...

ciderspence: you know, jump to a large advantage and then win shortly thereafter. that's cool but sometimes it just causes confusion and then the game picks up and it goes slower because of the confusion and then That's a feel bad, I think.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, it's a... I mean, there's no, you know, I'm sure a listener maybe can correct me. But as far as I know, there's nothing in green black that's like. I want to... when a creature enters, each opponent who loses a life. Like there's a, there's a white black card that does that, but not a green black.

Zachary Jeblonski: and And right now, I don't have anything in the deck that, like, would just kill people outright for all my creature for creatures entering, right? And I think that was the problem. I think a bringer. of the last gift is fine in a deck that mass reanimates.

Zachary Jeblonski: If. you have a closer in there if like i have a if i had a gary in there or something like that then i can just like oh let me count the pips all right that's enough life all right we're done moving on

ciderspence: I guess Ayara, if the creatures you're reanimating are black, would work.

ciderspence: There are a few things that when a black creature enters...

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh, yeah, yeah, IR or something like that. But... I think at the end of the day, I'd rather just like win a different way than like. You know. just do a mass like.

Zachary Jeblonski: mass reanimation i'd rather just have like the targeted reanimations And also I forgot to mention that my car of the week actually was in that game and it wasn't the bringer even though bringer basically won me the game The car of the week that really did a lot of work was Vorenkleks.

Zachary Jeblonski: The mono green one. Well, they're all mono green, I guess. But this is the one that flips and he's a three green green Tramp will reach 6 -6, and when he enters the battlefield, you search for two Fars, notably not basic Fars, just Fars.

Zachary Jeblonski: You reveal them and put them into your hand, so not to the battlefield. And for eight mana. You can flip him and he goes to the saga side Uh, and the step one is mil 10 cards, put two creature cards from on the milk cards on the battlefield. Step two is distribute seven plus one plus one counters among. creature creatures you control.

Zachary Jeblonski: And then the last one is until end of turn, your creatures get pay one generic and this creature fights target creature you don't control. And then he flips back onto to the other side. So I went through this whole cycle twice in that game.

Zachary Jeblonski: And the first time I did it, they board wiped. uh before i got to when i got to stage two so i i distributed seven counters amongst zero creatures

Zachary Jeblonski: But no, it did a lot of work. It did a lot of work. That's part of the reason why my graveyard was so full when Bringer came down. I'm a big fan of these. other flip. Phyrexian Praetors.

Zachary Jeblonski: I'd like them to return to this sort of thing in the future. I like this. like Creature. pay costs, flip to a saga. The saga finishes and comes back as a creature. I think it's just I don't know. I think it's just kind of cool I like all five of them actually The red one's probably the my least favorite, but I like all five of them. so

ciderspence: yeah because you had was it a commander deck based around the black one the shieldrid that does this

Zachary Jeblonski: But yeah, that was my Marin game. Yeah. Yeah, I had one for a while and I might actually go back to it because I really enjoyed it. I might enjoy it more than my current Valkaloth one, but yeah, I built around the...

Zachary Jeblonski: the the flip one. And it was a lot of fun because it's very much like whale. The last step is... Rise of the Dark Realms. And I'm in black, so I have no way of stopping you from destroying an enchantment.

Zachary Jeblonski: are very very very few ways to protect an enchantment in mono black So it's a little bit like this like ticking clock that. I'm not sure he's gonna go off and then my opponents are scrambling to prevent from going off Have a cool day.

Zachary Jeblonski: I don't know. maybe i'll be Maybe I'll put it back. I don't know.

ciderspence: Yeah, i I thought it was it's a

Zachary Jeblonski: But yeah, what was your other game?

ciderspence: no, I was just saying that's a that's a fun dynamic you have like an onboard scary thing, but that doesn't come down right away And so even when the game is like it was with your deck, you try to get it to happen a little faster than the table expects.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: But that's like the game. but it still doesn't happen like immediately. I feel like that's a fun... That's a fun. you know, dynamic to kind of play with as a pod, you know?

ciderspence: It's like, we see what's going to be the archenemy in two or three turns.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: everybody's got to kind of play slow and make sure we have answers for it or work around it otherwise we know it's going to be terrible But it's not. You know, it's not like. ramping it out on turn one.

ciderspence: and then the effect happens and then everybody has no chance to play. so it's like oppressive but it's oppressive in a few turns so you've got you have time to i guess it it meets the escalation principle right of what makes a satisfying commander game It's like.

ciderspence: She costs a lot of mana to cast.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: It takes a while to flip her. And then it's like not the, it's a third chapter of the saga. or something that is the horrifying ones alike. you know.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: You get chances all along to deal with it.

Zachary Jeblonski: It's that like, yeah, it's exactly. Yeah, it's that three -step process of like I have to have enough mana to cast her And then there needs to be enough cards in graveyards. to Flipper.

Zachary Jeblonski: And then I got to wait three turns or if I have any a few mono black proliferate cards. Maybe a turn sooner. And like, so it's a very much like this, like. long process that I'm like.

Zachary Jeblonski: All right, guys, this is coming from a mile away. Hmm. But.

ciderspence: Yeah, it doesn't sneak up on people.

Zachary Jeblonski: I was surprised at how often it would work.

ciderspence: Yep. It turns out people don't like to plan ahead. Or not all people like to plan ahead.

Zachary Jeblonski: I think. Well, i think I think to be fair to to players is that... It's difficult to get rid of enchantments a lot of decks yeah have trouble with that. So

Zachary Jeblonski: you know Depending on the color combination you're running. You know, once it once she does flip into the enchantment, it's rough.

ciderspence: Yeah, that's fair.

Zachary Jeblonski: But yeah, let me tell me about the the game you're playing.

ciderspence: All right. Yeah. Game two, which I played three quarters of. I finally got in a game with one of my Azulas. So I think I mentioned I... split my ambition of building that Azula deck into two Azula decks.

ciderspence: One was

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: Azula Dex sounds a lot like Julidoc, and it's kind of creeping me out. I'll have to say it slower or something.

Zachary Jeblonski: yeah

ciderspence: My. Artifact based Azula. Deck. is the one i piloted tonight and it was fun I played in a pod with Mendicant Core. Uh...

ciderspence: So somebody else who's doing busted artifact things. I never clocked to the other. Somebody who... tapped his commander and when it became tapped he untapped it And he like made all his creatures mana dorks or something.

ciderspence: something token based but i didn't actually see who the commander was that's that's that's bad form don't do that guys When you're playing a commander game. Pay attention to what the commander's names are and what they do. Alright. Don't.

ciderspence: Dude. heed what I say, and not what I do. Cause I definitely didn't do that. And then he went off and I was like, Oh, I didn't expect that.

Zachary Jeblonski: I mean,

Zachary Jeblonski: I've always paid 100 % attention to what... what every commander does.

ciderspence: Yeah. Yeah, I'm the only one and I should really work on it.

Zachary Jeblonski: um'm I'm being facetious.

ciderspence: No, and then the other... Commander in the pod. which was my car of the week. same commander that the same player played in game one Usovala Explorer returned.

ciderspence: She's a 2 -4 elf scout.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh yeah.

ciderspence: for one green -white. You can parlay. You can tap her and each player reveals the top card of their library. For each non -lane card revealed this way, add green and you gain one life. Then each player draws a card. So it was like kind of group hug, but like oppressive group hug We just got like group two tight hug.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I've seen Savala be rough to deal with.

ciderspence: Yeah, I've seen it as a card and seen it do Well, I had not seen it as a commander. in this form of deck. And it was the Selesnya version of clones, basically.

ciderspence: So it was like. Uh... In game two, a Marvin murderous mimic got played fairly early, which has this all the activated abilities of other creatures you control.

ciderspence: So on board he had two copies effectively of his commander once he cast his commander.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: Then he casts a Sting, Glinting Dagger, that untaps his commander at each combat. So then he was doing it three times a turn. or he was sorry he did three times During his turn and then once on each other players turn Let me play some other untapping stuff.

ciderspence: But anyway, I was playing Azula, so all all's fair in that because my commanders... Horrible too. So it took me a while to kind of build up the mana to...

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: be in a position to because I really wanted to either be able to cast her and swing in the same turn or cast her and have enough mana left over to protect her if she got targeted. But I think like turn 6 or turn 7 I drew a mass hysteria. One red, creatures have haste.

ciderspence: So I played that, had one pretty good turn. I had already played a Twinning Staff. So i was I was online for some shenanigans. I was able to... Cast untimely malfunction. Blow up. Three artifacts.

ciderspence: I cast Ancestor's Aid, made some treasures, and I cast Flashback to get back Ancestor's Aid and Untimely Malfunction.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh my gosh.

ciderspence: And then I removed some creatures, got in. and our Ancestors 8 also pumps plus 2 plus 0, so I... If I had built the deck better. I probably could have killed the player I attacked that turn because I dealt him 16 commander damage. that That's like...

ciderspence: Almost anything. like Any other plus two that got tripled would have gotten me there. but uh but still a pretty solid turn i got a lot Got a lot done. i cast a shimmer mirror the whole point of that deck is to try to get out one of the artifact flash enablers. I've got I think I...

ciderspence: Two or three. I have two in there. There are two others that I need to put in. But I've got Shimmer Mirror and... liberator urza's battlecopter I need to also put in Mei and Zuko. And... adaptive shimmerer, I think.

ciderspence: or a skittering cicada.

Zachary Jeblonski: And it's...

ciderspence: I always forget which is which.

ciderspence: But which whichever one gives you're colorless.

Zachary Jeblonski: And it's an artifact specific deck or?

ciderspence: It's an artifact -specific deck, yeah.

Zachary Jeblonski: Gotcha. Okay.

ciderspence: I think the theory is...

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

ciderspence: Just play a bunch of Artifact Ramp anyway. So that like worst case scenario. You just ramp. Until you... you can do what i described right you can caster and protector or caster and swing on the same turn.

ciderspence: and use some of that mana. And then if you do get a flash enabler app, then you can double your artifacts. And it's got stuff like... glaring spotlight. where I can pay three and sacrifice it and creatures can't block, so it's my command to get through.

ciderspence: So it's, you know, it is it is not as well. It's not my best thought of deck. Like I said it this was one idea and i was like this is too artifact heavy i want it to be more spells and then i said why don't i just make these two separate decks and i had the azulas so This is the artifact.

ciderspence: It's like a... like in one of those superhero movies where like some nefarious being splits the superhero's psyche into their good their light side and their dark side this is like azula's Artifact side and her instance side.

Zachary Jeblonski: hello Yeah, yeah yeah

ciderspence: So this is the artifact version. I actually wanted to play the other one, but I left it at home because I can't stop messing with it. so Anyway, but I had a great time. And then. uh yeah somebody I thought I was going to try to go for a kill shot on one player.

ciderspence: but I got too scary and somebody else dealt with Azula. And then I scooped. Not at instant speed. I scooped at the end of that turn. But it felt good. But she's she's fun to play.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay, good.

ciderspence: It is fun to play a powerful commander. So you had a good time.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I was gonna ask like how's how's your journey been with like a With a powerful commander.

ciderspence: Yeah, I mean I you know I liked. being honest i was like yeah it's it's that it's an artifact version of that but it is that like If you see me doing those things, you should feel free to try to deal with me doing those things.

ciderspence: And yeah, you know, I... i died like i lived and that was you know it was a good time

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, yeah Awesome. Yeah, for my second game... it's one It's a bit of a journey. i yeah I won the Marin game and I won it in a very.

Zachary Jeblonski: rough brutal way So my, my palate cleanser. has been and seems to continue to be it the Zora. So I played it to Zora again.

Zachary Jeblonski: And the game went. Fine. Where it got tricky is one of my opponents was playing Send Triplets. Are you familiar with 10 triplets?

ciderspence: I am.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, so why I got one opponent playing seven triplets. And then another one who's playing Mono White Life Game. i think it was like leonardo or one of the tmnt turtles

Zachary Jeblonski: And... About midway through the game. The centripetal player. targets the live game player. And i the live game players being very. squirmy about this and very frustrated about this.

Zachary Jeblonski: And we're like, oh, okay, whatever. It's on triplets. You know, a lot of people don't like it. I get why he would be a frustrated about targeting. We get to his turn. He reveals his hand because that's part of the centriplets thing.

Zachary Jeblonski: And he has like, he had a land tax out. I'm sorry. I just was rereading centriples to make sure he did have to reveal. He does have to reveal. e So he's got like a 15 card hand and like 12 of them are planes because he had a land tax out early.

Zachary Jeblonski: And then the other there's two other cards in there. it's A flare of what's the white one flare of something.

ciderspence: Flare Fortitude.

Zachary Jeblonski: The f -layer fortitude. I'm like, okay and Armageddon.

Zachary Jeblonski: So this. This guy. was planning on his next turn flair fort tuning armageddoning So now the centriplets players got it in his hand and he's like, well.

Zachary Jeblonski: And he fires it off. So now everybody has lost all the land all their lands except for him. And... I'm just mad at both of them because I'm mad at him for running it in his deck and I'm mad at the other guy for firing it off. So I'm like, all right.

Zachary Jeblonski: That side of the table is the enemy. This side of the table, we cool. Me and the other guy that got that his lens, but we're like, we're cool. And basically what it... What ended up going on is the life game player still had a smothering tithe. So he didn't feel the burn of not having his lands.

Zachary Jeblonski: And I had a poo -poo UFO on the battlefield. and a lot of cards are all gone. so i was able to actually like do two lands a turn for about like four four turns in a row And he was keeping up with smothering ties.

ciderspence: Nice.

Zachary Jeblonski: And I. basically took out the other two players. There's me and the life game guy. And I had like, 20 some life and he had like 90?

Zachary Jeblonski: but like I was just get, I was snowballing pretty hard. Like I was just getting more and more advantage. I had a sunbirds invocation. I had an ancient copper dragon. I got the 13 mana Emerald cool out.

Zachary Jeblonski: And i and it was just it was going to take like four or five turns to win this thing. like I was just going to have to beat him down. It's going to take a long time. And. It was getting close to like 8 .30 before another game could get played.

Zachary Jeblonski: So... uh we agreed to a draw on that one i was like hey man you want to just call this a draw this way Cause there were, you know, i had to go but they could get another game in if we hate to keep dragging this on then you know like i know In the back of my head, I know I'm going to win. But like I don't need to go through the motions for the next 45 minutes to get there.

Zachary Jeblonski: And I think he saw it too. And I think he was cool with that.

ciderspence: Nice.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, so it was a weird game. It was a weird game. Like, I don't think there's anything to like truly learn from it, obviously, because I don't plan on getting Armageddon. but I was like yeah I was like, hey man, just let you know next time you play that deck, I'm beelining for you because now I know you have that combo in there.

Zachary Jeblonski: But I don't I don't I don't know. I guess he couldn't have foreseen Centrip was taking it. But like, is that worth it to run? flair fortitude and armageddon like i don't know i just don't think that's worth the heat you're gonna get

ciderspence: Did you guys talk about brackets? Pregame or whatever?

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, we talked about brackets. I mean, is... I can't remember. Is mass land destruction allowed in Bracket 3?

ciderspence: It is not.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh. maybe we didn't Maybe we didn't cover that.

ciderspence: Yeah, I would say that's my only issue with it is like... a game expectations one like I think that's a fine card to run in a pod where... everyone understands that that's something that could happen.

ciderspence: I feel like I'd be pretty salty. like what a The second game we played, one of the guys. had I think he wasn't able to flare fortitude to protect his lands, but he it was it was the guy who... made his creatures tap for mana.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

ciderspence: he he was He was saying he he had Norma getting the cast, but he wasn't sure if he should do it. It would be funny, it would hurt us, but... It would just grind the game to a halt. And I was like, well, I have... I would like to go soon, so I would prefer not grinding it to a halt, but if you can do it and kill us, I'm on board with that.

ciderspence: Well, I'm not casting it, but... Yeah, like... I don't know, I feel like we talk pregame about... where we were in the brackets. And I think we were solidly in two to three territory. And.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: you know I think that's a card that...

ciderspence: By the letter of the law isn't allowed in bracket three, but I think more than that like spiritually, it's just like...

ciderspence: I don't know. These are casual games. I'm glad he didn't play it. I think if he had played it, we would have gotten through it, but I would have scooped because I was trying to leave. like The game had already gone on for about an hour. And I was trying to do something else, aka this.

ciderspence: It would have been. tough for that to happen. you know, an hour into a game such that we all had to rebuild. And again, if he'd been able to win on the next turn, that's one thing. But if not, then...

ciderspence: i would I would prefer not. And he didn't.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: just to be clear. So, but yeah. That's my thought on it.

Zachary Jeblonski: My thing with Armageddon was I... Like I own a copy of Armageddon because I cracked it in the back. I really, I don't, I would not put Armageddon. Well, number one, I don't think Armageddon should not be.

Zachary Jeblonski: You should always be in green if you're going to run Armageddon. Like you should be green, white, green, blue, or not green, blue, but like. green white green white red green white black whatever like that

Zachary Jeblonski: Because green is really the only color that can take advantage of mass land destruction in my opinion because you There's plenty of ways in green to be like. You know, return all lands from your graveyard to the battlefield, right? So you can Armageddon, just get everything back or whatever.

Zachary Jeblonski: And so like in a model white deck, I'm like, what was the play here? Like the play was to get exactly those two cards together, fired off and go, ha ha ha.

ciderspence: I feel like there are a few ways you can make your lands indestructible in white.

Zachary Jeblonski: But you don't.

ciderspence: That doesn't sound like... It sounds so. I'll say this. i would I was just talking about my Azula Artifact deck. And that that kind of. functions around the idea that If I can get.

ciderspence: an artifact flash enabler on the board. It's busted. I would say. this strategy especially if there was another land destruction thing in there which i wouldn't doubt i guess if that's like a line that he sees in the stack.

ciderspence: There are probably three or four white spells that make all your permanents indestructible.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, that's true.

ciderspence: Maybe he just is running those four in hopes to get... you know a land destruction spell and a protection spell and that's just one of his ways of winning the game Like maybe he also has a smothering tithe in there and he can make treasures or he has some other way of getting mana.

ciderspence: that he can still drag it out if he does if he winds up Blowing up lands without protecting his. But I feel like. Once they are four or five or six or seven or eight or something. Like. I don't know. You can you can say that that's... if i If I get these two pieces, it's almost like a combo, right? It's like...

ciderspence: I'm a combo deck. i I'm trying to get Armageddon and protect my lands. and Make people scoop. I. I don't think it's great, but I can see it.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like I'm. I've never scooped to an Armageddon. Like, I've always forced them to play it out. Uh, because like, I don't want to like. You know, I don't want to... What's the word I'm looking for? Encourages behavior.

Zachary Jeblonski: I think probably my favorite moment with an Armageddon, and I want to put this on the record. So if you play Armageddon against me. is I was playing a long time ago. I had a friend. in a different state that I was playing over there And they fired off an Armageddon. It was their Hazon deck. So he's like the desert guy and he cares about lands.

ciderspence: Yep.

Zachary Jeblonski: I forget exactly how it works, but... he care he does care about lands getting destroyed and or going to the graveyard and stuff anyway he fires off his arm again holds priority fires off a t -pro at various protection And I had a counterspell in my hand.

Zachary Jeblonski: I did not counter the Armageddon. I countered the T -Pro. And I said, you're you're in this with us, buddy. And...

Zachary Jeblonski: So on the record, if you if you fire up an Armageddon... and you and you And then the whole priority, fire off your protection spell, and I have a counter spell. I'm countering the cat the air protection spell and I'm letting you join the rest of us.

ciderspence: I mean, I would just argue that that's That's funny, I guess, but then... You're. You're responsible for

ciderspence: There's a So and I think this is in either Civil War or Spider -Man, one of Spider -Man's first appearances. Iron Man is asking him.

ciderspence: you know, why why do you do this? Why are you a hero? And he said something like. When you that when you can do the things that I can do and the bad things happen. And you didn't stop them?

ciderspence: then they happen because of you. I feel like that's what you're, that's, that's, that that is, that is my summation of a situation where you could counter the Armageddon, but instead you counter the T -Pro. it's like yeah i mean you make them be miserable with you but you're also miserable and the other two people are also miserable so

Zachary Jeblonski: I know. Oh, I know it's a trolling maneuver. I know, I know.

ciderspence: Yeah.

Zachary Jeblonski: i just I just saw on TikTok today. I get these comic book snippets right now then where people will like upload a few pages. And it was a Spider -Man having a conversation with Dr. Doom. And it's very similar to that of like.

Zachary Jeblonski: Where like. this is completely This is a completely derail, but where he's basically like, every time I eat lunch.

ciderspence: I mean, Spider -Man and Doctor Doom are magic characters now, so I don't even think it's that dissimilar.

Zachary Jeblonski: that That's true. But Spider -Man was basically like, you don't understand like every, you know. sort of the same thing with the powers i have when i eat lunch somebody could die because i'm not out there protecting people like

Zachary Jeblonski: You know just lamenting the fact that he has to be on all the time, but yes Yeah, I mean it is a trolling maneuver to bring it back But... I also think it's like...

Zachary Jeblonski: Yes, it is. there's no I have no other justification other than I want to see them suffer. If they're going to try and make us suffer, I want to see them suffer. you know.

ciderspence: We know it's interesting. I was thinking this when you were talking about uh that shielded deck The one thing about enchantment removal is that... Let's say you're at a table with...

ciderspence: a Selesnya player. a mono black player, a mono red player. and I don't know, like a Grixis player or something. If someone needs to deal with an enchantment,

ciderspence: It kind of has to be the Selesnya player. But I think that oftentimes in games now. The player whose quote unquote job slash responsibility is to do the thing. will be so indignant about the fact that the table is relying on them to handle some threat that they will some No, I've seen this happen. and i've I've heard creators kind of talk about this. that they These days more likely to just let the thing happen to quote unquote, teach the table a lesson.

ciderspence: Or to, in other words, like not hold themselves hostage to doing the thing. Uh, And just like let the game. be taken over by the thing that they could have stopped but it would have cost them their turn or cost them their mana.

ciderspence: just because it shouldn't be their job to police the table. And yeah, I think intent removal is kind of like that. like The player who can remove enchantments may not want to.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: like They might want to do other stuff, and they especially if there is an enchantress player. they might not want to spend the whole game doing that like i remember a game I played in a pod with you. where I feel like I cast a board wipe.

ciderspence: And then I cast another board wipe. And then I was just like, it was fine. I think I was in the fourth seat or something, but like. i don't know i could see another person being faced with that set of choices and saying no i'm just gonna cast my commander if we all die we all die but i'm not gonna I'm not going to just deal with threats and not advance my board. so I feel like that is a kind of.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I've seen.

ciderspence: dynamic at play a lot of times.

Zachary Jeblonski: I've seen that at play. And I've also, I think I've. probably been that person a long time ago. But I think... Nowadays, if I found myself in that position.

Zachary Jeblonski: I would just leverage advantage off of it through politicking. Right? Like, hey, I'm taking my turn off the deal with this. you know. You got to give me XYZ or whatever the XYZ is, you know.

Zachary Jeblonski: so i i think you can i think you can if you're in that if you truly well what's even funner is you can bluff it too and be like yeah i can handle that but i'm gonna need you know and just like not actually have That's kind of a jerk move too. But I think if you're in the position to handle, and you know the only one that can handle a certain threat. Yeah, you just kind of extort your opponents. That's what I would do.

Zachary Jeblonski: like hey you can't hit me for the next three turns if i deal with this you know

ciderspence: Yeah, but they could just say, no thanks. And then it's like, all right, well.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay, then you let it roll. Let's go.

ciderspence: Yeah, you let it roll, you all lose.

Zachary Jeblonski: that

ciderspence: That happens too.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I mean, I don't mind doing that either, you know.

Zachary Jeblonski: I mean, I guess it probably happens less and less with me because I just. Not a... Spoil. Or not to, not to. give away my hot hot strategies But.

Zachary Jeblonski: I'm really low on targeted removal nowadays in my decks. So oftentimes, no matter what colors I'm running, I'm probably not going to have the solution you need.

ciderspence: That's fair. Yeah, I'm pretty high on it Bye. I'm trying to... I'm trying to find... game plan advancing removal as much as I can. lately.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, for me, I'm just... Yeah. Well, you know. All right. so If it's on an MDFC, I've got it. If it's not on an MDFC. Then I'm running board wipes. And.

Zachary Jeblonski: that's it basically if mdfc i have it if not no So if it's white, I got Witch Enchantress. But if I'm in... And if I'm in blue, I got sink in the super. But other than that.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh.

ciderspence: I mean, there's two black ones.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: And there's two green fight spells. I feel like that's actually a pretty good suite these days. There are a couple of damage -based ones in red.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I do run the two black ones. Yeah.

ciderspence: I like if you're in a two color deck and you've got four interaction pieces. that are MDFCs. For a single targeted removal, that's probably fine. like especially if you're running a few board wipes in the...

ciderspence: you know enough card draw that's probably okay like you're not going to be able to deal with the main threat every game but

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah. it's

ciderspence: often enough you'll be able to do something. to contribute and. Yeah, I mean, to your point, I think you focus on building a big, scary board. and having to be dealt with as opposed to dealing with stuff so Yeah.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, yeah All right. Those are our games of the week. That's all I got in. You want to talk some decks on deck?

ciderspence: Sure.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, so... texel deck I don't know if I have anything that's close to going over the finish line per se. i I embarked on a reorganization. for my cards at home that I've mostly finished.

Zachary Jeblonski: I invested in... Basically, they're like these like... Man, this is a horrible description. But basically, for the listeners, it's like a cube that features six pull -out drawers.

Zachary Jeblonski: that i that fit in nicely to like Kallax, Ikea, like grid shelves. So I bought three of those and I condensed my whole collection into them Which is nice because I just freed up a lot of space.

Zachary Jeblonski: So once I finish that reorg. i'm telling I told myself I'm not allowed to like mess with decks until I finish the reorg, so that's almost done. And then it's kind of like, well, where do I want to go from there?

Zachary Jeblonski: And I think one of the things that I would think about doing here. is I have not touched my mono red deck in like two years. I think you've seen him maybe once. if Twice, Charles?

ciderspence: Who's your commander?

Zachary Jeblonski: Xer 'zoth? chaos rider he is Too red. He has a lot of attacks, but whenever an opponent draws their first card each turn, if it's not their turn...

Zachary Jeblonski: You create a 1 -1 red devil creature when this dies, deals one damage to any target. And whenever one or more devils you control attack one or more players, you and those players each draw a card, then discard a card at random.

Zachary Jeblonski: So I kind of like.

ciderspence: Yes, I remember this guy.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I kind of got reintroduced to this guy when I was building the Chira all -in deck from the upcoming Mystery Booster set. And I've more or less. I'm being a little baby about it, but I'm more or less kind of like probably shelving that deck just because the the lack of target opponent at random on that card kind of just I feel like kind of really sapped a lot of the fun out of it for me.

ciderspence: right

Zachary Jeblonski: So i'm gonna re I'm going back to Zerzal. I never took Zerzal out or apart. He's still hanging out. But i've I've kind of come back to it like with fresh eyes and all the things I've learned in the last two years.

Zachary Jeblonski: And I'm going to more or less rebuild him. And to give you an idea of like. this How much? There will be 22 swaps, 22 card swaps.

Zachary Jeblonski: And. I think the main thing I'm going to take away from this is like, I really leaned into like the devil trial for this guy. Because he does care about Devils attacking. But I'm actually going to like pretty much get rid of most of the devils in the deck.

Zachary Jeblonski: And instead... just rely on the devil tokens themselves to proc Zero's off. Because... Let's be real here. The vast majority of mono red devils are pretty terrible.

Zachary Jeblonski: They're pretty bad cards. So... You know, we're gonna kind of come from the ground up and then replace all those cards with... other cards that synergize really well with what zero's also trying to do cards that didn't exist when i you know.

Zachary Jeblonski: Brass's Tunnel Grinder didn't exist, you know, when I built this deck. There's a lot of cards that just straight up just didn't exist. When I built this last fire crystal.

Zachary Jeblonski: i'm just very quickly looking through some of this like spiked corridor, which is one much one mono red room And then, so it's basically like focus on. what he's doing less on devil tribal.

Zachary Jeblonski: and kind of go from there. i do get but here's one cute card that i'm going to put in the deck that i think will be fun which is whenever a player casts their first multicolor spell each turn, each other player draws a card.

Zachary Jeblonski: So I think that's a fun one. That's Zenith Chronicle for two generic mana. so I have that I've scroll, scrolling crawler. I have some like. draw assistant stuff.

ciderspence: There are a few lands, right, that let everybody draw on this card. like you can do those on not your turn just to make a devil every turn yeah i feel like that

Zachary Jeblonski: Yep, I have those. yep

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, exactly Yeah, so it's basically Zerzoth token devils.

ciderspence: That sounds like a pretty solid reason. Straight A.

Zachary Jeblonski: And then. mono -red support pieces for that. And yeah, so that's probably the next thing once I finish my reorg. Not a brand new deck. But...

Zachary Jeblonski: you know, one fifth of a new deck because 22 cards are being swapped for it. So looking forward to that.

ciderspence: Yeah, that's awesome

Zachary Jeblonski: What do you got working on?

ciderspence: It's funny to hear you say you haven't touched your mono red deck in a while. I actually am in the middle of two mono red decks. that I put together just because I also am trying to kind of clean up my basement.

ciderspence: one of the steps in that plan is to get cards out of my like sorting trays So I put...

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

ciderspence: The mono green stuff away. I put the mono blue stuff away. The mono black stuff away. The mono white stuff away. I had so many mono red cards that they don't fit in my... Storage So I was like, well, there's only one solution here. I gotta build some decks. So... I'm putting together Moku Meandering Drummer.

ciderspence: From Avatar. It's going to be Voltron E.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

ciderspence: I'll read him right quick. Moku, meandering drummer, he's a 2 -2 human bard ally. Whenever you cast a non -creature spell, you can pay 1. If you do, he gets plus 2, plus 1. Creatures you control gain haste until i end of turn.

ciderspence: So it's really like.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh, that's not bad.

ciderspence: I'm trying to make a lot of mana, play a lot of rocks. And. because he can give himself haste. I think I just want to set up a turn where I have A lot of mana and enough card draw slash card selection.

ciderspence: that I can... chain through enough spells to make him huge and one -shot somebody. And then I have some support creatures.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

ciderspence: That also can do... good things when they attack. that I can also give haste when i when he gives all the creatures haste. So that's the way I'm thinking now. i Like I said, I was really trying to play as many cards.

ciderspence: from the red stuff in my sort tray as possible. So it's a little light on ramp right now, especially given what I just said. so I gotta tweak it a little bit, but I basically put that together this morning, so I was pretty happy with that.

ciderspence: And then I'm also building Iroh Dragon of the West, also from Avatar.

Zachary Jeblonski: Nice.

ciderspence: So he is the one that There's a 4 -4 for two red red human noble ally with haste. and mentor. At the beginning of combat on your turn, each creature you control with a counter on it gains firebending 2 until end of turn. So I basically just tried to get all the cards in my...

ciderspence: sorting tray that either. Came in with a counter, could give themselves a counter, could give other creatures counters. And I'll probably... try to run some things that keep my creatures safe in combat.

ciderspence: but hope to draw a you know big finisher type. Combat trick. or a bunch of fire breathing type effects. and be able to dynamically with all this red mana make something lethal. and get it through.

ciderspence: So that's kind of the way I'm thinking with that deck. That one I didn't get quite as far as the Moku deck, but that's that's also on the board.

Zachary Jeblonski: Okay.

Zachary Jeblonski: and that That just reminded me of the Iroh Grand Lotus decks. that were Popular for for a moment there. I'm glad kind of glad you don't see that commander much anymore.

ciderspence: I don't know. I thought it was okay. like I think it's okay if you know if someone at the table knows what it does. I played a game in a shop.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, yeah.

ciderspence: where one of the guys played it. And. It's funny. He was he was honest about it So. The other two players were not familiar with Iroh's work but I was. And so...

ciderspence: you know He played some piece that looks good, but... Not obviously like. The combo machine. if you're if you don't know what the plan for that deck is. And so I asked him.

ciderspence: You know, do you are you? i don't know whether i asked him do you have the other piece of the combo in hand or whatever he's like well not in hand but i'm going to draw into it and then the other guy's like wait what are you talking about and i was like well look if he can reduces spells by this and then it can fill his graveyard he can just basically kind of go infinite with spells They're like, oh, yeah.

ciderspence: So, you know, i was it was a thing. this was I do play target removal, so i I held some up. I was able to interact.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: Uh, but like i said those dynamics can be fun when the when the scary stuff doesn't come out of nowhere I think Iroh is... The pieces. that you need are predictable enough that if you just know to pick them apart It's not.

ciderspence: you know. it's not a miserable experience but yeah if you don't then it will just be a long term but you'll probably die So that's probably fine.

Zachary Jeblonski: You'll probably die, so it's probably fine. All right, cool. I'm looking forward to it. Seeing that. I mean... Every time you bring up a commander, I was like, wow, I didn't know this guy existed. And like Iroh Dragon of the West, I was like, that is that's a cool effect.

Zachary Jeblonski: I can definitely see how they're getting out of control.

Zachary Jeblonski: And all right, so I guess I'm i'm taking, I think. after the results gets updated, which shouldn't take much time. I think I might engage in... a little bit of a meta deck here i think i might i don't know if i've ever brought this up on a podcast but i've been batting around the idea so one of the things that like i'm kind of trying to be cognizant of is like There's a stable of cards that I i enjoy running.

Zachary Jeblonski: And. And I always wonder like how homogenized my decks are becoming, right? Because if you take like. If you take the lands out and you have 59 cards, because I run 40 lands on all my decks.

Zachary Jeblonski: or 40 land equivalents at least. And you take that 59 and then you... you remove the normal ramp suite the normal this suite the normal this suite you know, you might only be, you know, for me, I might be only looking at like, 20 -ish cards that are actually different from deck to deck.

Zachary Jeblonski: so So I was like, huh, well, what do I want to do? Kind of with that issue. And...

Zachary Jeblonski: And I think... i'm the reason i'm delaying here is because i didn't rename the deck that's why is I have a teamer slot. That's kind of doing nothing and teamer should be fun for me. It's like A lot of the colors I like.

Zachary Jeblonski: But I've never... been too successful in making teamwork kind of work for me. But I think I'm going to make a Teemer deck. And the the the meta thing with this deck is that every card in the deck...

Zachary Jeblonski: will not exist in any of my other decks. except for the basic lands. And I've kind of gamed this out a bit. and i'm i'm I'm fiddling with it again. I've come back to it. Originally, it was going to be.

Zachary Jeblonski: uh the ashki ashki that She does things based on the creature power. Instead, I'm going to switch it over to Loot the Pathfinder. And he's two green, blue, red.

Zachary Jeblonski: I double strike vigilance haste. He has one green tap, make three green exhaust. One blue, tap, draw three cards, exhaust. red tapped deal three damage any target exhaust so he's just like Pretty a generic.

Zachary Jeblonski: commander like you know there's nothing fancy or schmancy about this guy But it should allow me to. put in all the jank that I don't normally run. Well, I know I don't normally run because they're not in any of my other decks.

Zachary Jeblonski: So we're we're gonna be we're gonna be looking at like You know. some, some, some hits like Kogla and Yadaro. And.

Zachary Jeblonski: My personal favorite I never found a home for. Sarenth Great Worm. which is a card I always thought would should be good, but I'd never been able to find a home. foreign Are you familiar with Sarenth Great Worm?

ciderspence: I'm not

Zachary Jeblonski: this, when this card was revealed and released, I was like, this is going to be a banger. Like, you know, this is going to go on like every red, green bag, blah, blah. And it just. doesn't so sarinth green worm is our sarinth great worm is four red green creature worm trample 76 and whenever land enters the battlefield create a task power stone token So that should be great. I mean, that's like.

Zachary Jeblonski: Four Power Stone tokens a turn cycle if nobody's ramping. like that that that has to be good but like it's never been good in any of the decks i'm running But I get to run in this deck, right? Because... because It doesn't exist anywhere else. so So that's gonna be the kind of the gist of it is Teamer good stuff, but teamer stuff that I don't have anywhere else.

Zachary Jeblonski: So, you know I'm curious to see what it's like to genuinely try to win with this deck and and see if maybe some of my misconceptions about certain cards

Zachary Jeblonski: You know I can prove them wrong So. That is probably after Zerzoth.

ciderspence: I love a good deck building constraint, so that sounds awesome to me.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, it's also one of those things where I'm like... you know i You know, not that this would ever happen, but I'm always waiting for somebody to accuse me and be like. oh your deck is always the same and you wouldn't win unless you didn have those cards i'm like well let me bring out this loot deck where it has none of the same cards you know

Zachary Jeblonski: in my schoolyard imagination of like what a challenge might actually be like. So yeah, we'll see. We'll stay standby on that. i it there's some There's some crap in here that I have to trim.

Zachary Jeblonski: But it's fun trying to find replacements for the cards that I normally enjoy.

ciderspence: Yeah. Yeah, I definitely think that's a noble aim I always.

Zachary Jeblonski: Whoop.

ciderspence: when i'm when I'm in one of these stages where I'm like just looking through all the cards I have out on the table that I wish were somewhere. I always come across these cards that I picked up two or three copies of because I thought it was going to be awesome.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: but then that I never put in any decks because they just never... quite made the final cut or it always sounded good.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: on first pass and then i was like oh but it doesn't quite work as well as this other thing or it duplicates this other thing that's a little bit better. And it it always feels good when I find a home for those cards.

ciderspence: Even if I don't think that. It's going to be part of an awesome deck. just being able to finally use them i think is It's pretty fun.

Zachary Jeblonski: I used to be really guilty of like a card would come out or spoil and I would buy like, oh, this is going to go in so many decks and I'll buy like five of them. And then like by the time the card arrives, I'm like, it's not that good. And then like none of them go in any text. And so I bought five copies of something for no reason.

Zachary Jeblonski: Luckily, I don't. you know tend to do that with expensive cards or anything like that but There's at least a couple of occasions. where i was like how does nobody uh i'll give you an example all right so i don't stop writing so

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, so plea for power is what I did. it was I was like, oh, that's going to be good. Tales from Middle Earth. Did a reprint of it, and I was like, oh, yeah, yeah.

Zachary Jeblonski: Bought like three or four of them. they're none of the deck. So they're probably going to go into this loot deck, but plea for power is three blue sorcery. Will the council. Starting with you, each player votes for time or knowledge.

Zachary Jeblonski: If time gets more votes, take an extra turn. If knowledge gets more votes or the vote is tied, draw three cards. So it's four mana, draw three. But maybe you can politic your way into an extra turn I was like, oh, this will be good. And I was like.

Zachary Jeblonski: you know because it's like one of those things where it it's it's kind of hard sometimes to justify a blue card that all it does is draw cards nowadays it's just it feels tough but who knows maybe in this loot deck you know, maybe I'll be proven proven wrong about a card like that

ciderspence: Who was the blue -green snake that came out? a A year ago or two years ago that ramped you. flying death touch or something it had an exhaust ability

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh. Oh yeah.

ciderspence: you find uh i think you were excited about it and i was excited about it i think i But. I was going to say like.

Zachary Jeblonski: I have.

ciderspence: Not only do I empathize with your plight, But yeah, I'm even worse because I do do it with expensive cards and I don't like order them and lose interest by the time they get home.

Zachary Jeblonski: Like six copies of that.

ciderspence: I buy them from a shop and lose interest by the time I get home. I'm just like nah I'll just Whatever, I'll just put them in the stock and I'll use them eventually.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, now this card I do run. in my current team or deck ironically the blue green snake It's Sky Serpent Seeker. It's Green, Blue, Flying, Death Touch, 1 -1, and Exhaust for generic reveal. Cards on top of your library until you reveal two land cards. Put those on the cards on the battlefield. Tapped in the rest of the bottom of your library.

Zachary Jeblonski: put a one -month counter on this creature. i think this card i think the only problem with this card is that it's got two colors in it like honestly if like this was just a green card or just a blue card well obviously it was just a blue party gonna be amazing but if it was just a green card I would actually run this card more.

Zachary Jeblonski: But I don't. have that many green blue decks to run this in i i you know because i have my My green -blue -white deck is a bird's deck, so he's not a bird. My green, black. or my green, blue, black deck.

Zachary Jeblonski: wants every card in the graveyard that is a permanent to be very high cmc so he just doesn't fit But man, yeah, like if this was a monochrome card. Not to turn this into a sky serpent praise podcast, but...

Zachary Jeblonski: It's a good card. and I still stand by my eight purchases.

ciderspence: Yeah, I mean, if you're if you were sticking to the one deck per color combination model, then yeah, a multicolored card just... by definition can only go in so many decks

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: i have but I have no excuse because I have. many decks in all color combinations. and there are still some cards that I swore by that I don't have in any decks yet. Like I said, I'm always building. so

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, yeah

ciderspence: I'll get there eventually

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I know my color combination thing is arbitrary, but it it keeps me from. Gone bananas. I need it. Otherwise, I'd have like 20 Dimir decks.

Zachary Jeblonski: Do you have any more decks on deck that you're thinking about making?

ciderspence: The other deck that I'm basically finished with is a way to Something prodigy. She's the fight lady, so she's got haste, and you can pay two and a green and tap her and make two Tartans. Make a target creature you control fight another target creature.

ciderspence: Cost two less if both creatures are yours. So this is the... Enrage Trigger deck. But I.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh, you mean the...

ciderspence: Kind of just finished putting together. I hope to play it. soon but Yeah, she was in one of the pre -cons for... Ixalan or something.

Zachary Jeblonski: She was been the with Pant Lhasa, right?

ciderspence: Yes. But yeah, this seems like a fun.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh God, well what is her name?

ciderspence: Wayta, W -A -Y -T -A. Bonder Prodigy, I think. uh wait uh

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, trainer project. Oh, yeah, yeah.

ciderspence: trainer product. And there you go.

Zachary Jeblonski: I'm excited to see this because this. when When the Pantlaza deck was revealed, everybody kind of... Crafted onto Panlaza, naturally, because Panlaza is crazy. But I've always thought that Weta was actually a more interesting commander.

Zachary Jeblonski: So I'm excited to see it.

ciderspence: I agree. I agree, she seems pretty interesting. Yeah, so I'm excited to...

Zachary Jeblonski: Hmm. Do you have a copy of Polyraptor?

ciderspence: I think. I think I have a polyraptor. I think my... Best cards in the deck are... uh wrathful raptors ranging raptors one of them is draw a card one of them is deal damage There's a lot of damage stuff, but... sleeper card not a dinosaur but red hulk you know i and i have a deck that has it as commander

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: But it basically doubles the damage triggers. for creatures you control. And of course there's a stuffy doll in there.

Zachary Jeblonski: Oh no. Nice.

ciderspence: Unfortunately, it doesn't work with skittering Giggling. Giggling Skitterspike? Because that is a combat damage trigger, not a damage trigger. or It's an attacks or blocks trigger.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah.

ciderspence: But yeah, I put a task in there I think In addition to things with enraged triggers, I just want to have small indestructible stuff so that I can bounce my own creatures off of each other.

ciderspence: And... Yeah, so I'm excited to see that one in action. coming Coming soon to an LGS near you.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, that's... That was one of the early... scary cards for me when i first started playing commanders i learned to fear polyraptor pretty early on.

Zachary Jeblonski: It's very combo heavy, but also I've always really liked the art of polyraptor It's where it's just it's just a dinosaur looking in. to a pond at his own reflection. I was thought that was cool.

Zachary Jeblonski: Yeah, I'm excited to see that. I forgot that commander existed. Yeah, I guess i got I got a couple other things floating out there.

Zachary Jeblonski: I don't know if anything is really close to the finish line because I think... I might, I might, I have a quirky idea for my Grixis deck.

Zachary Jeblonski: to go back to a commander that i had ran for just a brief moment But I might revisit it because i'm I'm always trying to figure out how to make goad work because I've never felt good about any goad decks that I've made, like in terms of...

Zachary Jeblonski: how well they work. But I might go back to the Ronnie, which is a Grixis Commander. It's one blue, black, red from Doctor Who. and it has whenever the rania enters the battlefield our attacks create a red aura enchantment called the mark of the rani attached to another target creature the token As enchant creature, enchant creature is plus two, plus two ungoated. Whenever you go to creature deals, combat damage to one of your opponents you investigate.

Zachary Jeblonski: And I think in the past, the way I built this was like. Just fill it with ways to go to my creatures, right? And I think often what times happens when I go like that is you kind of just run out of creatures to go to a certain point.

Zachary Jeblonski: because and in And in extreme situations, your opponents will just not play creatures into it because I don't want them being goaded. So they'll just do other things. And so I was like, well.

Zachary Jeblonski: What if... I don't go. everybody else's creatures what if i go to my own creatures And I just put creatures in the deck that I'm happy to be. To have. Be goaded.

Zachary Jeblonski: An example being. Uh, ghost. uh spectral saboteur from marvel It's too hybrid to mirror. And it's Flash 2 -2, and it can't be blocked.

Zachary Jeblonski: So I don't mind. putting the enchantment on this creature becomes a 4 -4 that can't be blocked. And the enchantments that the Ronnie makes are not legendary. So I can just keep stacking these enchantments on creatures.

Zachary Jeblonski: So the idea of the deck is like... Voltron up my own creatures with this. token mark of the rani And then if there is a scary creature out there that I'm worried about.

Zachary Jeblonski: then I can goad that specific creature. if it's worth it. you know, to avoid being hit with it. so it's a little bit like I hopes to solve the go problem of like.

Zachary Jeblonski: All my creature all my opponents creatures are goaded, but nothing's happening because... They're not playing creatures. And instead I'm like, okay, well, if you're not gonna play creatures, then I'm just gonna keep enchanting my own creatures and getting big and big and bigger.

Zachary Jeblonski: So we'll say that that also was coming down the pipe.

ciderspence: Nice.

Zachary Jeblonski: But I think that's about it. Is there anything else you want to... Okay. That answers my question. so We're going to go ahead and wrap it up. We ran a little bit over time, but thanks for joining me, Charles.

ciderspence: yeah Thanks for having me.

Zachary Jeblonski: All right, we'll talk again next week.

ciderspence: Take it easy, everybody.
