so that I can stay warm or else I would be literally freezing because I don't have a heater in my house. I literally only have a fireplace and that's it. So I have learned a few things on how to make a good fire, when to start it and how much wood I should be stoking it with every single time. You see,
Techniques and Challenges in Pottery

if you start when I when I was first learning how to start a fire, I didn't really

know all too much about starting a fire to make it good, make it easier for myself. And because I didn't really know, I didn't know that I the wood mattered that I grabbed because sometimes when I was first starting making fire by myself was that I had to I was grabbing the wrong wood. I was grabbing really thick pieces of wood.

So I had to learn a few things on how to make a fire easier for myself. But once I got the fire started, it started. It wouldn't go out unless I let it go out.

and that came out
The Importance of Preparation

So and that brings me to my point. Finding your voice is a lot like building a fire. But how how do you how does this relate to building? How does building a fire relate to discovering your voice? It comes down to preparation and experience.

to to make a fire take way too long or just burn out completely and I also wasn't setting it up right

You see, with preparation, preparation includes asking the right questions to learn what we like to make, building your skills to match your vision, and then gaining confidence with work. You see, when you are building a fire, it all comes down to the preparation first. In my house, my wood burning stove, you must first empty out the ashes from the fireplace, putting into a bucket,

get the right wood gather the wood that is going to start the fire a lot better so that means gathering wood that is smaller in pieces looks is more dry or maybe rotten and then also get getting a few big pieces so that when it does light it is a lot better and it stays warm a lot faster and also comes into how you're setting up the wood and it's the same thing with

pottery and discovering your voice. If you aren't preparing better enough by first asking the right questions and then building your skills and then gaining confidence, then the rest of it is going to either take a long time or it just won't work. It will just fizzle out. So that's why preparation is so crucial in both making a fire and finding your voice.
Improving Skills Through Experience

And now with experience, experience includes

Building relationships, being able to sell your unique pottery, being able to continuously evolve your voice so that it is getting better. With building a fire, the more experience I got, the easier it became to make the fire. And it's the same thing with pottery.
00:03:58
Speaker
The more experience you get with making pottery and building your skills, building your relationships with other people so that your pottery grows and you're able to sell your pottery, your unique pottery easier because you're building those relationships, and also continuously evolving your work so it becomes easier for yourself and you are making pottery that looks 10 times better.

It's exactly those two things that have helped me with discovering my voice, discovering my pottery, and it can help you as well. Simply
