Introduction and New Year Wishes

00:00:02
Speaker
Welcome to the Italian Football Podcast. The next question, Igor Vipovat says, hi, hi. Best wishes in the new year to my favorite podcast and everyone listening to it.

Performance of Italian Football Teams

00:00:11
Speaker
Well, thank you, Igor, Igor, for those kind words. and He continues, I have to admit that I was starting to get a bit bored following Saturday, November December with Milan and you were dropping out of the title race, conte grinding and doing what he knows best, but still not giving me an impression that I'll be able to challenge Inter who outscored the Massarilla league. And Atalanta, no matter how fun much fun it is to follow them, I still expect they won't keep up with Napoleon Inter till the end, especially if they push forward for the the to be a ward in Europe.

Fratezi's Transfer Speculations

00:00:35
Speaker
ah However, last week changed my mood completely. I love seeing Milan with winning mentality and a new motivation. We can't see Sal. The only thing about the situation that makes me sad is I can't see Sal probably won't be a candidate for post in Zagit in there, though I hope in Zagit stays for a long time.
00:00:49
Speaker
That's exactly how I feel, by the way, as an Interista Igor. Anyway, it continues. Yuva, well, to be honest, I like following Motta and the football managers save Junctoli as well. But as an Interfan, I wouldn't mind seeing them comfortably at 7th or 8th place when the season ends. Now with the January Mercato heating up, what do you think would be a better place for Fratezi, marauding midfielder in contest post-creature Annapoli or going back to Roma?

Transfer Talks: Fratezi and Rashford

00:01:11
Speaker
I think Kontou would either get him to level up or dump him in a month, but it's scary to think about his goal scoring abilities being put to use in a well old Napoli machine. Would be much better than getting Kiazaa, don't you think? Personally I think it would be amazing in Gasparini's Atalanta too. Is there a chance Inter might snap up?
00:01:28
Speaker
Ricci then seems like Milan is way ahead there blocking him for the summer I wonder also what Carla thinks about Araujo and Juve for me something really feels fishy that I don't feel like it will work out if it happens And finally, what are your thoughts on Rashford and Serie A? Which coach could be able to handle his mentality proper and get the best out of him? And also another quick one if you were Marocto and Giuntoli offering you a swap coupe miners for Fratezi, would you go for it? And if yes, would you be ready to add some cash along with Fratezi to get coupe?

Rashford's Serie A Prospects

00:01:57
Speaker
Looking forward to listening to all of the new episodes next week. Cheers for this very long message. Well, we've answered a lot of those questions um I do want to answer the the rashford thing again because I want us to do the segment on it Nima that will push out on YouTube. So um Who is the who is the best fit out of the the Serie A clubs for for Marcus Rashford in in Serie A now?
00:02:21
Speaker
We know that both Juventus and milan ah Milan in particular have ah held talks with Rashford's camp about a potential January move. That doesn't mean that he's going to join either of them, it just means that they've held talks.
00:02:39
Speaker
Now with Milan it's a little bit more complicated because they're also in talks to sign Kyle Walker um and the time by the time you listen to this it's possible that Walker deal might have even been done and they're further advanced with Walker.

Rashford's Tactical Fit in Milan

00:02:52
Speaker
If they sign Walker Milan they can't sign Rashford. They can only sign one. Serie A clubs can only register one. um English player, British player per transfer window because of Brexit which means that England or Britain is no longer ah an EU country. um So there's a restriction on on number of non-EU and in this case UK British English players. So there's that to take into account. So we know they've been in talks. The other team that has been linked
00:03:22
Speaker
is um is Napoli because of Kvalak's skater is leaving and there is a space there for them. There's also a space at Milan because Noah Okafor is leaving um Milan to go to Leipzig in January. So Milan will, ah we assume Milan will be signing a left winger and this this this this month to fit to to to so fix that.

Juventus & Napoli: Tactical Fits for Rashford

00:03:45
Speaker
um So who is the best club? Now,
00:03:48
Speaker
As I said on the Monday show, um Milan, who seemed to be the club pushing more for Rashford out of the Italian clubs, um for me, I don't think tactically it really works. If if we take the 4-2-3-1 formation that they play at the moment, well, Rafael Liao is the left-winger, so you know he hasn't got a space there. Liao will play it. You're not going to sub or bench one of the two. that That's just stupid. and that won't that Neither neither would neith player will accept that. Will they go to a 4-4-2, which is actually Conseil's favorite system. He played that at Porto. Maybe it's what he wants to move towards at at Milan as well.
00:04:27
Speaker
In that case, ah Rashford could play as a support striker to Morata, which is a position he can play in and has played in in the past for England, um in which case you then have to play Liao as a left midfielder and in a 4-4-2, and I don't think that is a position that that Liao really can do. I don't think he has the discipline, I don't think he has the defensive skills, defensive qualities, the the sacrifice to play in that system for, for ah for a you know, so I don't know whether that would work. Having said that, though, I mean, are you going to turn down the opportunity to have a ah team with Liao, Rashford, Pulisic, Morata, all in the team? I mean, against most teams, you'd think that would blow them away, and maybe that's the way Milan and Conseil think of things.

Conte's Management Style and Rashford

00:05:10
Speaker
so
00:05:11
Speaker
It could work, it could work. um I think it there's more of a space there for for him at Juventus and ah Napoli. For Napoli they need a replacement for Clara, he can just go in there and slot there on the left of the 4-3-3. Whether or not he's a concierge player is another is another question, but there is a position for him. And that's for Juventus, I think that they that they could do with a left winger, play Rashford on the left of the 4-2-3-1,
00:05:36
Speaker
um then Yieldiz, we've seen, can play as a number 10, where I think he would do a better job than Coupe Miners, who's completely failing and in that position and it doesn't seem to be suited to it. Or Yieldiz can move over to the right as well. you know they can they can They can rotate there, but he can play on the left. Yeah, Ashford can play on the left. So for me, I think Juventus and Napoli would probably fit Rashford better ah in terms of there's the position there available for him that tactically would work. But you know Milan,
00:06:04
Speaker
milan might might you know Milan might love having him as well.

Milan's Tactical Adjustments for Rashford

00:06:08
Speaker
Yeah, I think for the reasons you outlined, um um I've had a bit of a think of this. I i kind of agree with you on that. Whether or not Rashford is ah is a content player is a tricky one for me, because on the one hand, yes, and on the other hand, no. I don't ah wonder how content Rashford would get along off the pitch more than the tactical side of it, because I think Rashford is an intelligent person. He's an intelligent player.
00:06:38
Speaker
And I think he can adapt. to He's sensitive though, isn't he? Yes, and that's exactly what I mean. I wonder how he would get along with someone like Antonio Conte and how he is as a character. ah That's my only concern. I think tactically, look, I've seen Conte make Eric sent him to a Regista and look outstanding. I've seen him turn Scrinyan into a back wrote to players in a back three. i seen him you know I've seen do such amazing amazing things. So um he can make it work on the pitch for sure. I just wonder how they would get along off the pitch. That's the thing I'm worried about. um As for Milan,
00:07:18
Speaker
I think in terms of playing a 4-4-2, I think it would work because if you kind of allow him to drift on from the left and if you can get him to kind of subject, submit himself and sacrifice himself from the team, you could probably have layout on the left winger in a 4-4-2 if they kind of alternate and they run for each other sort of thing.
00:07:39
Speaker
But then, of course, you've got Theo Hernandez there as well, which means that Milan's left-hand side will be very, very open. um yes so you didn't Yes, there's a good point about Teo. I didn't think of that. yeah that is That's three points. Defended or run it. but yeah Literally, it's like defense optional. like That left side is just... they don't But can you imagine those three attacking together? That would be fantastic. what can be like and brazil eighty two like yeah just no one wanted to the fed you know like It would be fun to watch. I want it to happen now. just i want I want this to happen now that you brought in Teo into the equation. i'm not I want to see this now. No, it would be fantastic offensively, but those three together on the left-hand side, I mean, Consti Tsao would go bald from stress.

Juventus' Priorities Before Rashford Move

00:08:27
Speaker
And you'd need more than a cigar, that's for sure. No, But no, but in all jokes aside, I think he would, you know, he would also have to find a midfielder to cover for them.
00:08:39
Speaker
you know, so to to run for three, like ah Engolo Kante is someone who, you know, runs for three people, ah which he would have to do in order to cover with them doing what they're doing, um if if you're going to play with all three of them. But it is it's a fascinating prospect, prospect isn't it? um to to To have the three of them there. And as for Juve, I don't know, I feel that Juve need more of a They've got other priorities. Yeah. yeah and Yeah. And not just about even as a striker, as far as a striker goes, I just, they need more, for me, I need, I think they need someone. No, Juventus need to park it. Juventus need to sort out their problem positions first. Then if by the end of the last week of the window, you know, they've done that, they've still got, there's still a possibility to get him on loan and it makes it financially, they can do it, then, then I would go for it. But
00:09:28
Speaker
they need to five concentrate on getting their other deals done first and and then, you know, then come back to Reshrid. Agreed.
