D20 radio, your game is roll.

Speaker
Hello

Meet the Team

00:01:12
Speaker
and welcome to Eberron Renewed, an actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. And I'm Jeff. Welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time? Who knows?
00:01:30
Speaker
We mill hatch. I think we made everything worse. We might have. I don't know if we can necessarily say it was us, but things, I think, did get worse. And we had a hand in it, for sure. Yeah, so we did the mill hatch thing, and we learned not as much as we would have hoped having this guy in our grasp, but...
00:01:58
Speaker
And then we ended things by deciding that the suit, the rest of his verdant, cobalt suit should be investigated.
00:02:17
Speaker
Yeah. So we're going to pick things up the following morning because it was very late and you all had been go, go, going all day long to for sales as the meeting point to hook back up with Milo seem reasonable. Yes.
00:02:39
Speaker
Okay.

Morning Strategy Session

00:02:40
Speaker
So, uh, so yeah, you all are arriving at the four sales. It's morning. So, you know, open's getting the place ready, doing prep. Son is there getting stuff set up. Ace wiping down tables like a champ.
00:02:56
Speaker
So you all are at the four sales. Um, so Milo, you are there, uh, slightly hungover from your, your grand time with Kath and sauna ever so slightly. Milo doesn't get like really bad hungover. He holds his booze pretty well. So it's got just a little slight one because he stays hydrated. That's right.
00:03:16
Speaker
Milo's favorite cocktail is vodka and Gatorade, so that keeps his electrolytes high. What's going on? What's going on in the story? OK, so Milo obviously missed out on the interrogation last night. So we're all there? Sorry, I cut out for a moment. OK. Yeah.
00:03:45
Speaker
Well, I suppose we should fill Milo in on them. He looks around.

Debating the Captive's Fate

00:03:50
Speaker
We are the only people in the four sales right now. Yeah, it's way too early. OK. Because he would not fill Milo in if anyone might hear. Yeah, as much as Ulfin's been marketing the tilapia omelet, it's not really taken off. I don't like you. OK, so yeah, so Hobb says, you know,
00:04:13
Speaker
So basically we found, we confirmed a lot of things we were thinking. Mainly, we learned that the lizard is actually TARDIS Vittiders. Hey, you put them both on a scale and this one comes out more likely. TARDIS Vittiders.
00:04:44
Speaker
I'll be honest, although I don't know that we convinced him to stop or slow his work at all. We did not. Right, there it is. Is he still in captivity? Is he still being held? Yes, we asked them to hold on to him for a day.
00:05:08
Speaker
while we continue to not know what to do with him. Right, that's the big thing, is I don't know what we were delaying. I suppose we'll find out at the end of the day. I mean, we're not gonna just kill him, right? I mean, we're not gonna just... We're not just gonna murder him. No, okay, good. Because the way you were saying that, I wasn't sure if you were like, obviously we should kill him, or if you were like, we're not really going to... No, I don't, no, we're, no. I... I don't... Well, I hope not.
00:05:39
Speaker
Let's either hold him, let him go. What is the other option? I mean, the only option is release. We can't... We could turn him over to the authorities. With what? Evidence with what? Crime, frankly.
00:06:09
Speaker
I know we know, but, um, Eric, remind me when we got detained after the bombing, Eris was interrogated by, by Verla. Yes, I believe that's correct. I may have told detective more Dane
00:06:38
Speaker
that he was the one who did the bombing. You may have done that. I did that, yes. My hand hurt a lot and I was not... I mean really to be honest of the people who tell us what to do sometimes, she's like the most clearly trustworthy
00:07:07
Speaker
Oh, far and away the least objectionable of those people. Right. So it seemed like someone who could do something about it needed to know. And while she probably isn't the most able to do something about it, she is the least likely to do something terrible about it.
00:07:25
Speaker
Is it possible that we only feel positively about her because of the context in which we see her? She's never the most objectionable person in the context. Maybe so. I don't know. But obviously I wasn't going to tell Satan. And maybe Callaway already knows. I mean, obviously we've already acted extra judiciously.
00:07:55
Speaker
So if we want to remand him to Verla, I'm not against it. Yeah, I don't know what exactly would come of that, but it seems better than just letting him go. I mean, if we do, she's going to know it was us, because we're going to say, remember that bombing we told you about? Here's your aggressor. We apprehended a person of interest in a bombing.
00:08:26
Speaker
We only hope that... It's not the bombing you told her about. It was the bombing that we were apprehended at the sight of, I think is the exact concept. Yeah, I mean she actually knew about the bombing. That's more what I meant. Sorry, I worded it poorly. We don't have to make it like...
00:08:49
Speaker
Well, it would be inaccurate for us to say we got a house to kidnap someone. That would not be an accurate reflection of the truth because we didn't make that decision. But now, yes, I might leave that part out.
00:09:12
Speaker
Right, but do you feel, since let's say you were the unmoved mover that made this happen, how do you feel about handing them off to Verla? Oh, we're good friends. Neither true, nor what I asked you.
00:09:36
Speaker
I just love that Raynard thinks they're friends. It is fun. It's very fun. Yes. The matter... I think it's extremely sad that Raynard thinks they're friends because clearly Raynard's only level of affection he's ever received has been nothing but passive and aggressive at the same time. So his love language is mean.
00:09:58
Speaker
That's why hob treats in this way I think I Have is gonna be a roommate They're so they're talking about
00:10:20
Speaker
I certainly agree that we need to figure out what we're going to do with him at the end of this 24 hours. However, we should also talk about the reason we asked for these 24 hours and how we're going to spend them. Are we?

Armor and Evidence Discussion

00:10:34
Speaker
Go ahead, please. I mean, if we're going to try and get a hold of the rest of the suit.
00:10:45
Speaker
I don't know what the suit is. I could be wrong. I know there are lots of stories about things that DeConi creators made a long time ago and all like locked away in vaults under the earth. And so if he found one of those, I don't know what the suit is. It might just be magic, but
00:11:11
Speaker
There's all sorts of weird things when you have ancient magic. And so I don't know if it drove him crazy or if it was the putting himself in that weird chamber and inhaling a bunch of ground up dragon shards, which don't seem like the healthiest option in terms of your lungs. Listen, Eris isn't a doctor. Don't listen to her. You're absolutely right.
00:11:42
Speaker
And maybe that's more likely, but it seems like this stuff lying around. And if we got a hold of the armor, it might better prove that he was the one who did the bombing. In which case we could turn him over with some evidence instead of just with our word on it. Oh.
00:12:09
Speaker
What Jeff heard of that, he thinks Hob would be a big fan of. Sorry, I was scolding a dog. Yeah. And also, if we got out of the house, then there's not any chance of Harbin stumbling upon it. Right, that... Yes, I think you're right. I think that accomplishes several...
00:12:40
Speaker
It works towards alleviating several of the problems we have put ourselves in. I almost said found ourselves in, but come on. And I'm sorry, did we know it was in his home? Did he say that, the armor's in his home? Yes, he did, I think. It sounds like something Eric would give to us, yes.
00:13:09
Speaker
Yes, I was about to ask if we knew where this armor is being held. Yes, he said it was in a secret chamber in this home or something like that. Okay. In that case... Right, do we know... I suppose Olive would know about... Well... Had Olive been to his home? With Harbin at any point, you know?
00:13:40
Speaker
Have you? You haven't. I mean, when we picked him up. Right. We know where it is, but I'm thinking of security help. Oh, right. Yeah. No, I don't know. I haven't told Olive, but I could tell Olive, and she might agree that getting it out of the house is the best thing to do.
00:14:11
Speaker
I'm not going to ask you to keep anything from Olive or share anything with Olive you're not comfortable with. But if she if she has information about I mean there's a lot that she could know even if it's just what sorts of
00:14:31
Speaker
trips and tracks, trips and tricks and traps, I cannot speak what sort of tricks and traps he likes to secure his things with. You know, I don't know, but if that's not a place you want to go with Olive, then by all means we've dealt with more action on less knowledge before and it's gone bad. Wait. Well, here's a thought. It just occurred to me.
00:15:01
Speaker
If he went in and out in that armor on that sore sled, he can't have been going out the front door. Sure. Right. I mean, people can't have just seen this weird green armored dude with a sore sled walk out the front door of the Mill Hatcher state. Right. I mean, there's got to be another entrance.
00:15:25
Speaker
Well, you know, financially and also engineering capability. There's no end to how he may have. Right. Built a trapdoor, a portcullis, a weird bush that opens up and there's the door behind it. I don't know if Olive would know, but she might. And I know he, she got assigned to work with him a lot.
00:16:01
Speaker
I mean, we could... Do we have reason to believe Harbin would be there during the day or is he going to work or school or something? I know he's often working with Olive.
00:16:19
Speaker
Right. I'm wondering what's keeping us from taking some recon passes with Intasha just over the top of the property. It would not be conspicuous necessarily unless Harbin, who knows us, sees us. Right. So. I mean, I could call Olive and ask if he's there.
00:16:43
Speaker
Just under the auspices of making sure that he made it in today because last night was a little wild. Sure. That makes sense. That was hob. Sorry. All right. Uh, so Eris keys her communicator to olives. Um, Hey, um, Harbin get there. All right. Today. Or is it? I don't know what time he gets there.
00:17:13
Speaker
All of our heiress does, I'm sure. So you all would like him to be out of the house, I'm guessing? That's your. Oh, I see. Yeah, sure. We'll flip a story point. And it's new session. So give it back.
00:17:33
Speaker
Okay, out of turn incident. There we go. Okay, so Olive like kind of, oh, yeah, yeah. He's here. He showed up on time. So we're just working on some exercises. Everything okay? I mean, last night was a lot. There were pirates. Oh, really? And
00:18:02
Speaker
Pirates? Yeah, pirates attack the gala. How strange. And no, really like actual pirates. It's not, this is not me. I'm not, this is not code for me. We committed a crime. It's just like actual pirates attack the gala. Um, and then Harbin and Tasha smashed through the door and ran over the pirate captain. Harbin drove Tasha? No, he just went and got her.
00:18:30
Speaker
The no that you say and Harbin saying no are in unison and stereo for all of them. No. Um, I don't actually know if he knew that he ran someone over. Ah, well, I will, but yeah, I just, he's, it was a lot. So I just wanted to make sure he was okay. Uh, seems to be fine on this end.
00:19:01
Speaker
That's all. Okay. Well, I will see you at home whenever you get here. Okay. If you need anything, let me know. Bye.

Reconnaissance Planning

00:19:16
Speaker
Harris is such a skilled liar. Yeah. Hob has a look on his face like there are there are seven million ways to have done that cleaner and then he said so so he's there. Yeah yeah he's he's at the Colton.
00:19:37
Speaker
So I think Hobb suggests then that we hop in Tasha and we just do some passes. I mean, I don't think it's crazy the idea that a little skiff would go traveling about town. And we see if we notice anything unusual, anything that looks like it could be a hatch, maybe throw down some magic detection that, I don't know, recon for people on the grounds, all that stuff.
00:20:06
Speaker
My perception sucks, so that's on y'all, but... Alright, okay. If you need me to scare a door open, let me know. Does that sound good, Randy, Trevor? Does that sound... Yep. Sounds good to me. I am in it.
00:20:27
Speaker
You also have knowledge of Underworld, don't you, Hobb? So you could potentially know about secret alleys or passages or smuggler routes or things like that that could be utilized in this part of town? Yeah, I can get us there and out better. But as far as looking to see if we can find a weak entry point of the house, is Underworld going to help with that?
00:20:47
Speaker
Knowledge Underworld would be using if you are current, if you are aware of things that could be useful, like a smuggler's drop or something like that. But okay, so we are heading over to do some passes of the Mill Hatch estate. So I guess
00:21:09
Speaker
It's in a nicer part of the city. So, you know, well, yes, it is late morning at this point. So you all aren't going to be staring standing out too terribly much, at least for the first few passes. So who would like to make what check? Perception.
00:21:33
Speaker
I have just a whole lot of green in perception. So does anyone have any actual points in it? I got a yellow and two green. Yeah, I actually have it. I have a yellow and a green. I thought when he was better than that. Um, yeah, I have four green. I may be the best at it. Yeah. That's better than one yellow, one green for sure. I think I just have three green. Yes. Um, Harris is cunning like a Fox.
00:22:04
Speaker
Is there a way that Milo or I who both have a rank in it could help that would, Oh yeah. Can't we do some kind of combined check that would, where it's like her ability and their rank. Yeah. So it'd be so one yellow, three green. Yes, exactly. So, okay. Cool. Uh, for the group check hot puts Harris on his shoulders. So she has a higher vantage point. All right. So it's one yellow three. What's the difficulty?
00:22:35
Speaker
Um, it is too purple. Okay. Now, can I ask what are we, do we need to claim what we're specifically looking for? Are you going to tell us what we see based on this? Cause are we looking for people or are we looking for a trap door? Are we looking for a, uh, my understanding is trying to figure out how, uh,
00:22:59
Speaker
not Harbin, Norsen, got out of the estate in his more monstrous, like, maniacal form. If that's not what you're looking for, then feel free to... Okay. No, that's definitely one of the things we talked about first, for sure. Okay. All right. Here we go. Two success. Just two success.
00:23:23
Speaker
OK, so as you all are zipping about flying around, you see. Yeah, so as you're you're driving, you see a few not full levels of the city, but you know a few stories below the Mill Hatches State. There's some canvas and like tied up along the stone of the towers.
00:23:52
Speaker
I wish, you know, frequently people would do that for banners for advertising events or just advertising goods and services, yada, yada, yada. This seems to be an older faded one. It's kind of hard to see what it was advertising at any given point. But one of the ropes has gone loose on the bottom left hand corner. And so some wind catches it and flaps up and you can see a pretty clear opening behind it. And it seems to be like hidden by this banner.
00:24:19
Speaker
It's covered in grating, so it's not like just a big open hole in the side of the tower, but it's conspicuously positioned directly below the mill hatch estate and clearly hidden for some reason. How big of an opening does it seem to be? It is big enough where. Tasha could drive into it, but it's going to be a real tight fit. It's like a it's like a. A mini Cooper and Italian job going down an alley kind of thing, right?
00:24:50
Speaker
Are you saying it's source lead sized? A source lead could comfortably fly out of it. I need you to really make this easy for me. Uh, okay. Well, it's kind of like in the porn movies when he's on a motorcycle and they're in cars. Like this is a thing that like, yeah. Hmm. So that's what you see on your first pass. Okay.
00:25:19
Speaker
That's that's promising. But yeah, sure. Can we do looking above looking for him? Well, I mean, I still would like to know if there's other people. I mean, I don't want to be surprised by it. But I'm trying to think how to say
00:25:43
Speaker
Actually, I'm not trying to remember what I was trying to think and then when I do that I'll say it. Oh, if we can look from above at the architecture to see if we have an idea of
00:25:58
Speaker
This is a hole into the building, a hole into the wall of sharn, the cliff wall of sharn. What does the hole go into? I missed that. I apologize. It's going in the side of the towers. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. So yeah, there's no real. Okay. Yeah. Then yeah, whatever we can do to assess if there's other people on the grounds during the day. Okay.
00:26:21
Speaker
I mean, just doing an initial, like just doing a flyby, no need for a check at the outset for this bit of information. You can see that there are some people tending to the grounds, like, you know, there's some landscaping, there's some gardens, things like that. So there are people outside tending to that business. So you see that pretty easily. But outside of that, you don't notice anything apparent.
00:26:50
Speaker
So here's a question. Do we try to do this at night when fewer people will be out and about to see us go in? Or do we try to do this during the day when he's not likely to be here? Yeah, I don't... Hey, remember when...
00:27:16
Speaker
I honestly can't remember whether it was Milo or Renard. Remember when we magicked Tasha to make her look like a, just like a Lori to get away when we stole that big shipment? I think that was Milo. Yes. So what if, what if we did that to make her look like, I don't know, some sort of maintenance vehicle because that looks real trashy and you know, maybe someone's there to,
00:27:45
Speaker
fix it. It's going to not be uncommon to see maintenance crews on the sides of a tower, right? Yeah. I think that's I think that's fair. I do also have a more maneuverable vehicle now. That's true. That might be better. It would be inside. Yeah, absolutely. But I mean, we got to open that thing. And so I was just thinking,
00:28:15
Speaker
if we're on the side of the tower trying to mess with that thing, it's less likely to draw attention if it looks like we're fixing something. I think that's a great idea. And that's certainly something we've all seen, whatever the city maintenance vehicles would look like. Yeah. Yeah. You do that. What do you say, my little warrior? Are you up for a makeover? Now let me understand. You want me to do this on Tasha, correct? Yeah, just disguise her.
00:28:46
Speaker
Yes, very well. All right. So Randy, the Tasha silhouette is two. Is that correct? Or one? I can tell you that. Silhouette is three. Three. So that's going to be a hard difficulty check, Randy. Hard arcana check to alter the appearance of Tasha.
00:29:09
Speaker
So that's three purple? Three purple. Make her a municipal maintenance vehicle. Okay. I'm gonna spend a story point. Okay. I'm gonna brilliant, brilliant casting. So I'm gonna add four boost die.
00:29:38
Speaker
Okay, wow. I just don't want anything bad to happen to Tasha. I'm not going to feel bad about making one of those purples a red, so. Yeah. Arthur? Sounds like a sad cat, Trevor. That's Arthur.
00:30:06
Speaker
to success, six advantage. All right. Now it's invisible. And we're all invisible. And the suit blocks out of the mansion to us. Nobody will question why we are there at all.
00:30:34
Speaker
And we've won. We've won the game. Sue comes up and agrees to testify. That's right. That's been campaign two, everyone. I hope you've enjoyed it, but just needed six advantage. We'll see you next time.
00:30:52
Speaker
Um, six advantage. So, um, you could, uh, utilize additional, um, illusions, illusory images to make you all appear like to be in uniform. So it's further solidifying the ruse. Um, yeah, I mean, that sounds good to put us all in beige jumpsuits. Yeah. Could we, we look like, we look like maintenance workers.
00:31:25
Speaker
I mean, the appropriate tools and clothing would certainly be a good use of that. I agree. Do you think we need to get the bike there? What do we call it? Sky speeder? Speeder. Do we need to get the speeder there as well, or do you not think we need it to maneuver around inside the towers? I think we're probably walking once we get inside, because I don't think it'll be.
00:31:53
Speaker
I don't think that's yeah, I assume that I assume I am hoping that this passage leads to the lab. That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, so OK. In other words, we're never going to use. I guess just when we talked about it in terms of what vehicle would fit, I thought we knew. Yeah, but it makes a lot of sense of course.
00:32:11
Speaker
I'm a simple person. And the only thing I can remember about this whole game right now is that I have a motorcycle. So that's gonna be... Every problem looks like a single lane highway.
00:32:27
Speaker
Yeah. Is that what we want to use the advantage for? Is we also take a moment to acquire... The uniform illusions are like three advantage. So you still have three more that you can do something with. Nobody questions why we're there. I think that's the whole... What about... Nobody knows. Nobody comes up and asks anything.
00:32:56
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like that that that's we've accomplished that though with the I've never wanted to go to a municipal laborer and ask them what they were doing as long as they were appropriately regaliaed. No, somebody came to my house. I would want to know.
00:33:13
Speaker
We can like the city watch aren't present like it's the it's the Ghostbusters 2 thing where they're using the jackhammers in the middle of the city street and the cops were over like, hey, knock it off. And they're all they're all mad about like why the cops are in their business. So, yeah, I get that. Like the city washer. Nobody's going to nobody's around to question like especially another like batch of municipal workers. They're like, hey, what are you doing? So.
00:33:45
Speaker
I envisioned like early, early America, like fire departments where it was all like private, like just gangs that had territories, like the municipal workers of Sharn, it's a turf war. That's our garbage.
00:34:00
Speaker
So no, they're all they're all actually operated by one of the organized crime and Much like a lot of waste management today Okay, so Yeah, the this section of the city is pretty well cleared out Nobody's gonna be knows and about and you all have uniforms to wear furthermore like you know nobody yeah nobody's gonna question what you all are up to so
00:34:27
Speaker
you roll up to this big banner. Once you get closer, you realize it's advertising for one of the like minor races around Charne, not the big one. But it's pretty easy to pull it aside and see that it is covered in what appears to be really sturdy grading. A little bit of rust. This clearly was originally designed
00:34:53
Speaker
as like a water runoff. You know, as water collects on the various balconies and stuff in Charne, it collects and runs out this. And then, you know, sorry about you down in the cogs. You're going to get hit with a waterfall. So... It's cooling the lava. It's helping. But yeah, now you have easy access to this. To this grate. To this grate. Yeah. Well... You gotta get it open.
00:35:25
Speaker
Luckily we have our great tools. Is that mechanics? What was your question, Philip? Is that a mechanics check?
00:35:35
Speaker
Sure, you make a mechanics check. I'm not going to try to rip it off, so it's the last resort. So you all are. It is going to be a opening from the outside like this. It's going to be a hard check to try and finagle this and maneuver it about.
00:36:04
Speaker
All right. For success, one advantage. Okay.
00:36:15
Speaker
So, Eris, through utilizing your tools that you carry with you and your gauntlet, you're able to identify where the latch is that basically this grating folds up and in so it doesn't stick outside the tower. It just folds up behind the covered banner.
00:36:39
Speaker
So that's the mechanism with which it opens. There's clearly some kind of remote opening mechanism, like presumably further down the tunnel, that allows it to open from a distance. You get a sense that with enough leverage and power you could probably force it open.
00:36:59
Speaker
Um, but that's, yeah, that's, that's what, you know, is you understand how it opens, but it is pretty well reinforced and it it's, it's a giant thing of metal. So, okay. Uh, Eric explains that. And then, so I mean, you see the, I mean, we could probably just force it or I could try to.
00:37:27
Speaker
trigger the sensor somewhere down there. I don't know where exactly it is, but I could try to trigger it or wire it. Or we can try to force it. I don't know which is going to be better. Okay. I'm going
00:37:53
Speaker
This is where the, nobody's going to notice this thing. Like this hob. No, no one's going to notice this. Cobb would suggest do the least conspicuous one. Which one's the one the workers do? Right. No, that's fair. Uh, okay. Um, so I guess I want to try to, yeah, I want to try to,
00:38:24
Speaker
Let's see if I can't trigger that sensor. OK.
00:38:33
Speaker
Yeah. Find the, find the frequency of the crush. Yeah. And trigger it. So this will probably be an artifice check. Okay. It's, I mean, you, I'm going to say it's for purple because you don't even really know what you're looking for or where you're looking from your successful mechanics check. I will say that you can have a boost die. Okay. But I'm going to flip a story point and change one purple to a red.
00:39:04
Speaker
So this is three and a red, three purple, one red. Okay. Yeah, correct.
00:39:16
Speaker
Okay. Um, all right. So, uh, Eris, you know, Eris kind of wedges her hand through a little bit of the grading and is just trying to scope around with the sensors in her glove to try and find this thing and send it a signal. Here we go.
00:39:38
Speaker
Oh, two success, one advantage. Why would you say that? Because I know that I'm going to, I'm just priming the pump. So yeah, Eris, you, I mean, what kind of mechanism are you used, like describe to me what Eris is doing to try and accomplish this. So she's got, you know, she's got all sorts of arcane sensors in her glove for when she's trying to detect magic. And so it starts out
00:40:04
Speaker
It starts out as that, but fundamentally there's got to be a line of
00:40:12
Speaker
enchantment. There's gonna be wiring that runs from the sensor to the actual door. And so once she's identified where it is, it becomes a fairly simple moment. Like once she can see the line of enchantment that runs from that trigger point out to the actual hinges and lifting mechanisms, then it becomes a matter of just climbing up there with her boots
00:40:41
Speaker
And just closing, essentially closing a magical circuit to get that signal to go. At which point the great swings in with her attached to it.
00:40:54
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. It just, it's a little loud, you know, it, it, it doesn't seem to have been opened in a bit. Um, and yeah, it swings open. So, um, like I said, you could potentially fit Tasha in here, uh, but it's going to be a very, very tight fit. Well, and nobody's going to come around looking because we established that. So, um,

Stealthy Access and Discovery

00:41:19
Speaker
so it's probably okay.
00:41:21
Speaker
Yeah. So is everyone hopping out of Tasha into the tunnel? Yeah, I assume so. Can we drag Tasha in behind us to just get her not chilling out in the open? Sure. Yeah. You have to drag Tasha. She can back herself up.
00:41:42
Speaker
Oh, that's right. Okay. Whatever. She's been to the club. Yeah, that's what you meant. Okay. So yeah, you all are in the tunnel. And Eris, if you want, you feel like you would be capable of shutting the gate behind you. If, if you want to just to have that extra layer of security, or you can leave it open. Oh, we can shut it behind us. Okay.
00:42:09
Speaker
So a gate gives kind of a scraping sound as it gets right down to the bottom and the metal scrapes against the stone as it locks into place. And the banner that you all were holding up and working flaps back down and you get brief little inlets of light as the banner waves, but you all are in relative darkness. All right.
00:42:35
Speaker
The tunnel that you're in continues in inward towards the center of the tower for about 200 feet and then you see like the tunnel itself curves to go up and you see just metal bars like set into the stone as a ladder going up.
00:43:06
Speaker
Yeah, Eris slings the Fletcher on her back and she begins just climbing the side of the tunnel so that she's not occupying the ladder. Okay, up we go. Hob gestures that he should be the last up the ladder for structural integrity reasons. Milo hops on, starts climbing.
00:43:30
Speaker
And my heart goes behind Milo. Okay. Um, you all, uh, get three fourths of the way down the tunnel. Um, as you then from, uh, above you and kind of behind you as you all are walking here. Um, pop says, excuse me. And we move on.
00:43:56
Speaker
Okay, yep, that was it. I like to spend a story point to make that happen. Above us? Okay. So from above us we hear a horrible noise. I mean, is it reminiscent of the bug monsters that we fought? No, no, no, no. Okay, okay. Yeah, you don't hear a...
00:44:24
Speaker
That chittering horror, I think is what they're called.
00:44:28
Speaker
No, you see a nest that's in the upper corner of the tunnel. Something is nested in here. And it seems to be some creature about the size of a large dog with like leathery bat wings and, you know, leathery skin, but a sharp beak that like chomps at you all. So I will let somebody try to make a check to
00:44:58
Speaker
I don't want to say appease this thing, but just, you know, do the, do the Chris Pratt hand thing to the Velociraptor, the inexplicable. What would that role be? I'm open to pitches.
00:45:19
Speaker
We just need to decide, so I'm happy to try to scare it away with coercion, because that's all I've got. Yeah, that's totally, totally feasible. But, at the other side of that, if one of you wants to try to charm it, then you get a couple advantage because of Loom. That's all I can... I'm bad at charming. I'll try, but I'm not good at it. You negotiate, pull out some food, be like, eh? There we go.
00:45:50
Speaker
Yeah. Cause like the best, the best hob could do is growl back and hope that it was scared of it. But is there, is there a place for it to retreat to? Like small enough to where it could fit through the greats. Like it could squeeze through and fly away. It got in here somehow. So, um, yeah, I mean the, the difficulty to scare it away, uh, hob would be one red, one purple.
00:46:14
Speaker
Okay, okay, here's the thing. I can do a, let me double check this. Yeah, a three yellow, one green coercion check. Just slap my foot against the ground and see if it'll skid her away. That seems like our best option here. Okay, sure. Do it, do it. You said one red, one purple? Yep. Okay, and let me just double check. I don't have anything giving me any boosts. I took a couple of talents before our last session, just want to make sure.
00:46:47
Speaker
Yeah, that's it. Okay, cool. Cool. And rolling. Can't miss. I knew that it was going on me. Yes. I had one unspent advantage from my Artifici check. Fair enough. Can I give a boost? Yes. Yes. Roll a boost.
00:47:13
Speaker
so that boost I took me from zero success one advantage to one success two advantage and our little friend has run through run out of a great correct it yes it it it goes to like spring at you all and hobby so you just slap your foot against the concrete and look at it meanly many singly yeah I mean it's this am I wrong that this is not wholly
00:47:39
Speaker
wholly disparate from seeing a rodent in your house or on the road and slapping your foot against the ground and hoping it scares it to skid her off. If I was over there where that foot is, it would have crushed me. So I want to get away from that foot. Yeah, so it lets out another screech and then retreats down the tunnel where you all entered and you see the banner flip as it squeezes through the bars and flies away.
00:48:05
Speaker
I just have this vision of it being Eris's advantage though and so Hobb does that. Doesn't do anything that Eris like sneezes and then it flies away. Hobbs laps his foot and then Eris goes better watch out and then it runs off.
00:48:21
Speaker
Heiress looms for college. I do have a question regarding the two advantage. We took a full night off at the end of the night last night, so I should have been able to roll to recover strain, right? You recovered all strain if you slept. Sorry, not yes, sorry. Then in that case, I am going to use the two advantage to just boost up the next guy with two boost. Next roll.
00:48:51
Speaker
OK, yeah, you all climb up and you reach a you reach a large hatch that you all can push open. As you do, light floods you and you realize, like, I guess as you go to open it, you see bright light cast down the tunnel. So do you just continue to flip it open or do you stop seeing that there is. Light, I guess.
00:49:25
Speaker
Well, would it be Milo, the one opening it since he's at the top of the rung or, or Eris who's climbing up the wall? The hatch mechanisms are set for somebody climbing the ladder to be able to open it. So if somebody's on the ladder, they're going to have easier access to. So Milo, would you just pull it open or would you stop as soon as you stop? No, I would, yeah, I would cautiously open it and then stop if there was light and I would try to have a look around.
00:49:55
Speaker
Okay. Um, give me a stealth check to stealthily look around with this hatch open. Um, the difficulty is going to be too purple. Okay.
00:50:10
Speaker
But you have, you have to boost die thanks to, um, and don't forget Milo that your little amulet thing that you got, you applied to your stealth. So you get, um, what was it you get? I think I've already applied it. I think I just put it on there. I think it was an increase was the boon and an upgrade was the.
00:50:39
Speaker
Okay. You're more likely to accomplish the thing, but yeah. So yeah, you add an additional green to yourself, but the check instead of two purple is one red, one purple. Two success, two advantage.
00:50:54
Speaker
Okay. So, yeah, Milo, you're able to bring the hatch trapdoor up just enough to get a good look around. You

Secret Lab Revelation

00:51:06
Speaker
see what appears to be a lab-style environment. It seems to be fairly sterile, clean, well-kept.
00:51:16
Speaker
but not currently in use. You don't appear to see anyone about, and you don't sense any traps going off as you open this door. So yeah, you get the sense that it's all clear. What would you like to do with the two advantage? Just, I guess, pass boost. Okay, pass two boost.
00:51:46
Speaker
All right. Well, Milo, you feel confident that you can open the trapdoor and climb up into the lab. Yep. So that's what Milo does.
00:51:58
Speaker
Okay. Uh, so as you all climb up to the lab, you see a lot of equipment areas. This is like, um, if the cauldron had funding, um, just implements everywhere, workstations, um, and various projects that somebody was working on, um, on display on various tables, things like that. You do see a half formed version of olives apparatus. Like clearly somebody was trying to replicate it.
00:52:28
Speaker
Um, and you all, um, see in a very, um, kind of tucked away glass case. Well, glass it's, it's some clear, uh, casing. Uh, you see the suit that you recognize, um, up on kind of a mannequin S display. Um, so yeah, end of episode.
00:52:58
Speaker
Thank you
