D20 radio, your game is roll.

Meet the Hosts: Eric, Philip, Randy, and Jeff

00:00:48
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Eberron Renewed, a D&D 5th edition actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I'm your dungeon master, Eric. And I'm Philip. I am Randy. I am Jeff. And welcome to another episode, gentlemen. What happened last time? We got back to Rowett. Lots of talking. We got to roll initiative and act one seat. You all stopped it. Just saying. No, we did. And it was a smart move to stop it.

Recap: Returning to Rowett and Avoiding Conflict

00:01:13
Speaker
It wasn't.
00:01:15
Speaker
Yeah, we probably don't need to go around killing realish soldiers and operatives unless we have to. Here's what we know. We know that there's a new entity called the King's Eye that was definitely started by the false Boridel. We know that they are trying to get the real Boridel that just showed up in town up to and including efforts like starting a storm and trying to hurt Krast in three.

Teleportation Dilemma: Barrick and the Bad Guys

00:01:40
Speaker
Now,
00:01:42
Speaker
Barrick just zapped off, bamfed away with Borenel, leaving me and Booyah with five bad guys. That's right. That's right. He sent three away. Two of them are about 30 feet down the hallway. But I'm pretty sure we're going to be okay.
00:02:04
Speaker
Okay, so picking up where we left off in Rookan's office. Murt and the other King's Eye just look confusedly and step into the office kind of looking around. Where did he go? I mean, I genuinely don't know. I assume out of that. Did you just go outside?
00:02:28
Speaker
Uh, I mean, I can go 500 feet. So I went as much towards that storm as I could. Okay. Boy, I think go help three. Yeah. I mean, I figured that's where, I mean, here's the thing. We know what Crass said, but they didn't hear it.

City Navigation and Strategy

00:02:44
Speaker
We heard it over our speaking stones. All right. So we could just say, I assume they went to find three. We don't need us, you know,
00:02:53
Speaker
This isn't necessarily a place for being scrupulously honest, gents. With you all saying that he places a finger on his ear and says, yes. Oh, okay. You're working. Oh, okay. We're on our way. And they turn and begin walking down the hallway.
00:03:12
Speaker
I, are we gonna look at the first floor? Yeah. Is there a window? Yeah. Does it face the storm? If you get a kind of an angle, I open the window, I climb out, I say, Booyah, come on. You don't wanna use door? Follow those guys? No, I wanna beat those guys there. Okay, let's go. You two, give me perception checks. 26.
00:03:42
Speaker
23. Okay. You may go. He can go 500 feet towards the storm. And we just jumped out. I should be able to see him. Well, I mean, in a field. Yes, you're in a city. We are in a city. We'll just head that way. How fast are you? 30 feet.
00:04:10
Speaker
Let's go. So you could go. Well, no, you're going up. Give him up football style or

Stormy Confrontation: Barrick and Borneau's Battle

00:04:14
Speaker
Yoda. Do the Yoda thing. Yoda get your back and just take. Would that change my stats? No. All right. Yeah, I know this might be this might not be your favorite thing, but you want to crawl up on your piggyback ride. I'll get a surf. Boy, I love piggyback ride. I'm fast. Yep. Yeehaw. And we take off.
00:04:34
Speaker
120 linear feet per second. Now we just have six seconds. That Calvin and Hobbes comic with a goblin and a changeling. With Booyah with like trying to aim his crossbow over Dex's head. That's right. My hair's getting in his face. Yeah, the four feet of hair. It's in a braid.
00:04:55
Speaker
Which we are using for a rain. Yeah, so it's probably in several braids. Yeah. So, yeah, cut to you and Bournell appear in an alleyway just about like 50 feet away from the storm. And you hear the wind howling and hail falling and it's lost the situation.
00:05:18
Speaker
I mean you see people running away from the storm pretty quickly. You can't see the you're in an alleyway so you'll basically need to go out into the main street and then turn right to head towards the storm.
00:05:33
Speaker
presumably Borneau. Yeah, Borneau has his hammer out and is running right next to you and you all turn and are running against the current of people towards the storm. And you see the square that they are in is actually where, well, you wouldn't know this, nevermind. You see them in a square in a very, what seems to be affluent part of town,
00:06:00
Speaker
but it's cleared out completely and that you see Krastin 3 standing in the center of it fighting against three individuals with swords and one person standing back behind them seemingly controlling the storm.

Combat Tactics and Magic Challenges

00:06:16
Speaker
Is that guy's back to us? It's all in profile.
00:06:25
Speaker
Beric is going to try something based on an assumption of all these guys having military instincts. As he comes around the corner, just shouts as loud as he can, make way for the king! And just try to
00:06:48
Speaker
Try to see if he can pull the instincts of people who've been soldiers for a long time. Someone steps in and shouts an authoritative voice tension. So, yeah, you see everybody stop for a moment with that as you shout it.
00:07:11
Speaker
The storm continues to rage, though it's not as furious as the magic user in the back drops their hands and everybody turns and looks at you, including Krastin 3. And 3 immediately takes off towards you all. But the brief moment of confusion essentially allowed 3 to disengage without an opportunity attack, but they have not relented their assault.
00:07:40
Speaker
Krasten three. How are they looking? Three looks pretty okay. His armor's a little dinged up, but nothing too bad. Krast looks to be in a pretty bad way. Whenever you are and allow me to act, I would like to get adjacent to Krasten and heal him. Okay, so let's... I had previously a 21 initiative. I'll roll a new one if you want me to.
00:08:11
Speaker
I'm just saying they had about a 25 second head start. Yeah. So let me know when we get there. I guess that's not true because we did chat for just a second. So more like a more like a minute head start. Go ahead and roll new initiative for me, Philip. I rolled an 18 again, so 21 is still my initiative. Do you want to go ahead and roll? So when we get there slot in. 30.
00:08:44
Speaker
23. What's your dexterity modifier's three? Yes, sir. Okay, so you all move 120 feet towards the scene. Barrick. Over rooftops, as the crow flies. Barrick, you are now able to move up to Krast. Okay, I move up to Krast, put a hand on his shoulder, touch the amulet, cast Cure Wounds,

Climax: Facing Multiple Opponents

00:09:15
Speaker
restoring 31 hit points to him. OK, so he kind of. Thanks. Where's the cure? I really hoped you were going to have an answer to that question. Excellent. Next up are the the three individuals that were frontline. They rushed the two of you.
00:09:47
Speaker
So the first one's gonna attack Krast with, they all have rape ears. That's gonna miss, second attack against Barak, 17, or 18, I'm sorry. 18 does hit. Oh wait, I'm sorry, I'm looking at the wrong page.
00:10:13
Speaker
That does not hit my AC is 19 because one of the packs increased my AC. And lastly, 25. That hits. So you deflecting the strike of the other one gives the last one an opening to come up and stab you in the side with his rapiers. Interesting.
00:10:44
Speaker
12 points of piercing damage. Is that that's my total? Yes. Okay. Or sorry. 16. 16. Okay. As they stab you. It is now Borenel's turn. Borenel rushes past three. You hear a
00:11:08
Speaker
a laugh that just comes from the depths of a man's soul as he rushes up and leaps through the air with his hammer and brings it down. And that's a natural 19. So nice. That's a disappointing damage roll. So he does. Six points of damage.
00:11:34
Speaker
as he just cracks the hammer down on one of their shoulders and they let out a wail of pain. Crast swings at one of the ones in front of you all. He rolls a two though, so he's still getting his bearings. Beric, you then hear a voice say, my king, please don't put yourself...
00:11:57
Speaker
And three rushes up. I want to do something as we get close. I want to do something before we get close. Dex's back. That might hurt my thing. So. So three rushes up and tries to step in between the.

Chase and Retreat: Strategic Decisions

00:12:19
Speaker
The man that the king just attacked in the king and bashes his shield and swipes at him and does.
00:12:29
Speaker
nine points of damage. Okay. Um, okay. So then the cloth one in the back. Are you all frozen or just being very still? I mean, we can't say we're not frozen, but we were all being very still.
00:12:57
Speaker
I like to imagine Thorin is looking for Commander Bala right now, by the way. He's just like kind of wandering around the edge of the city. Bala! Hey, uh... Anybody see... Bala? Anybody see a shark? Anybody see a shark with a dark elf on it? Did it look well fed? I'm scared. It's like an elf, but the skin's black. Um...
00:13:22
Speaker
Okay, in a second, you all are kind of taken aback because the storm disappears. And the magic user in the back kind of draws it in. And then with their other hand, they shoot out a color at Beric. And that is eight whole.
00:13:49
Speaker
Well, there it's dead again. So instead of one ray, two rays shoot out. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. It's called chromatic. Ray or chromatic spray spray. Yeah, prismatic. Oh, prismatic. That's what it is. I need I need a dexterity saving throw. Okey dokey. Twenty one.
00:14:19
Speaker
Okay, so you're gonna take what? I don't need two saves. No, it's one save for the whole spell. Okay. So you take half damage. Cool. Yep. Which two colors hit me? Yellow and green.

Polymorph Challenges and Solutions

00:14:50
Speaker
Eric was scrolling on that screen for so long, just thinking. Prismatic spray is a really wonky, complicated spell. There's a lot, there's a lot to read. No, I think it's, how can I best kill Barrick while he's alone? One of them is a petrifying ray. I don't think, I think, is it the yellow one? Is the yellow one petrifying? Indigo. Indigo.
00:15:17
Speaker
Basically it's the thing that a beholder does. With their various high stocks. I feel like I've read it. So you take 22 lightning damage. Cool, cool, cool. And then... Are you doing the halving for me already, I assume? Yes. Okay. 14 poison damage. Okay.
00:15:52
Speaker
as sickly green lightning strikes you and makes you feel kind of gross. All right. You all move another 120 feet. So you're getting closer. We're not going to get there for six rounds. I said 500 feet. It was they went 500 feet and then they ran. To like 50. OK. Yeah. You're like halfway ish there.
00:16:23
Speaker
I can't see him. That'd be five rounds. What's happening now? Oh, we're just determining how long it's gonna take them to get there. I meant the gigantic handful of dice you were rolling. I was just having fun. Okay. Barrick, it is your turn. Okay. Well, for bonus action, I'm gonna put my Hexblade's curse on that dude. Also, because of the weapon that you gave me, I immediately recover 1d6 hit points.
00:16:53
Speaker
That'd be five. So energy just sort of runs out of Erebus into Barak and he recovers some hit points. And then I am going to attack that magic user. Okay. Yeah, I charge that guy and I'm going to attack him. You're going to take an opportunity attack.
00:17:22
Speaker
You got a line of three guys in front of you. Am I gonna take just one? Yeah. Can I get that? I'm willing to take just one. Okay.

Final Confrontations and Negotiations

00:17:32
Speaker
18. That misses. So I'm gonna make two attacks against the spellcaster. My modifier is 12.
00:17:52
Speaker
So that is 21 and 19. Hit on both of them. First attack. So Barry just sees him.
00:18:12
Speaker
And this comes blazing across the stones with the sword held back. And as he approaches, just whips the sword around, cutting with the back edge first for 16 plus my proficiency for 20 damage. And then it whips around and comes down across for 22 damage.
00:18:48
Speaker
Okay. All right. It is now the, uh, three melee people's turn. So, um, one of them's going to attack craft. That's a natural 19.
00:19:19
Speaker
Grass takes 17 points of damage. Three. That's a 25. Three takes 13 points of damage and Borneo. They miss Borneo. Okay.
00:19:48
Speaker
So, Bornell's turn, he attacks one that attacked him. That is only a 11 craft attacks. That is a 17, which that does hit. And three does not hit.
00:20:21
Speaker
Okay. Um, this is two combats in one session that Phillip has denied me. How am I denied you this combat? You got 500 feet closer to it. That's five rounds. Yeah, I should have gone. I should have gone somewhere else. Like if I was being, if I was being devious about it, I should have just taken the King like up onto the roof. Right. Or into the next office. That was hilarious. Just gone.
00:20:53
Speaker
Okay. So now it is the magic user's turn. So he is going to, are we closer? Didn't he rainbow them before? I need a wisdom saving throw Barrick.

Mert's Arrival and Episode Conclusion

00:21:23
Speaker
I'm pretty good at those. Six twenty. OK. Nothing happens. He kind of reaches his hand out at you and you feel your mind start to twist, but then it stops. For I will also remind you, I am now immune. Also, thanks to the weapon you gave me to charm and frightened. I know if that comes up.
00:21:53
Speaker
Um, okay. So now it is background to you all another 120 feet. So 360. Um, did we not get any closer while they were running that, that other 50 feet to get into position before? I mean, I kind of took that as, cause they transported instantly. Yeah. Um,
00:22:23
Speaker
Still no eyesight. You can see the crowd like you round the corner and you're running straight to where the storm was because the storm has now stopped. You just see a large crowd of people running towards you. So you're having to make your way through the crowd, but you still don't have line of sight on them. Maybe next time. Well, here's what I want to say. I'll go ahead and say now. Yeah.
00:22:43
Speaker
When we get, because the next one will put us 480, which means we should, we're even within his range for the next round. I want to drop him off, and then I want to use my next opportunity to try to stealth around behind the magic guy. Just so you know. And now that you can see him and they notice you, I'm like, damn it. I gotcha. Okay, Barak, it is your turn. Okay.
00:23:24
Speaker
All right, well, I'm going to attack again. 25 and 26. Yep. First attack is 23 slashing damage. Second attack.
00:23:56
Speaker
is 20 slashing damage. Barak is moving around the sky and no longer... Barak is trying to
00:24:16
Speaker
disable him without killing him if possible. He's cut up real good. Another volley of strikes like that you think you're gonna take his head off. Which guy is this? The magic user. That changed my plan. I didn't realize that's who he was attacking. I don't want that plan anymore. It's no plan. It's gonna go down easy. Okay, so now it is...
00:24:48
Speaker
Their turn. Crashed. Got back another five hit points. What do you do?
00:25:16
Speaker
Okay, so the one attacking Kress and the one attacking Bornell land their strikes. Some of them are actively attacking Bornell. I mean, okay, that's off. Dude ran in with a hammer and smacked one of them in the face. So he's, he's acting in kind. That one is attacking Bornell. Bornell hits him back.
00:25:52
Speaker
Crass misses, three misses. Oh, one of them rolled a natural one. So what would you like to do with that? You recognize it's the king and lay down their weapons.
00:26:12
Speaker
think much more likely is they recognize they're all about to be killed. I have something. I'm I'm up for hearing something in the chaos and everything is you all are trying to run through the crowd. You you spot a a loose horse that you would be able to hop onto and get get the horse faster than Dex. I mean, I think even in any form of fiction, like there's no way Dex runs faster than a horse.
00:26:42
Speaker
I think in the mechanics of the game, Dex runs like 40 miles an hour or something absurd. I wrote a four minute mile. I did the math. I don't remember. Because Dex's speed is still 60, right? I get 120 around. What is that? Because your speed is his speed is 40, but he's able to move three times because of bonus action and action.
00:27:10
Speaker
uh horses 60 feet so but they but they don't get so he's exactly as fast as a horse um well okay then i i know you were trying to get me to the fight i was trying to help but mechanically it doesn't help is it for some strange reason a valinar war horse because i bet that's faster
00:27:35
Speaker
I'll say it's a mage bread horse. Yeah, yeah. Mage bread horse with the speed of 80. I was going to say 100 because mage breading is just nuts. Yeah, you find a really random like super sleek horse that is just tied up outside of town. Like you hear it coming up behind you and it is like gaining on you for a clip. So you know that it would be much faster than your acrobatics check to grab it. Sure.
00:28:02
Speaker
Yes. Yes. You can take a 10 on it. So roll. Booyah, writing decks, writing a horse is everything I've wanted. So yes, you are able to as the horse passes.
00:28:17
Speaker
grab it around the neck and hop yourself up. So yes, you do have kind of a nice nesting doll look of Booyah on a Dex on a horse. Important note, two important notes. One, that's baller. Two, this actually isn't gonna get me to the fight any faster. It'll still be two rounds from now, but this is my horse forever. Well, somebody's gonna come looking for that horse. You can make that enemy if you want. We really need fan art. I'm the Lord of Miss Marsh. This is my horse forever.
00:28:52
Speaker
I don't know why you're speaking authoritatively to me. I'm not a citizen of this march, sir. So anyway, no, because that happened not on your turn. So you're going to be able to go 200 feet, which will get us there.
00:29:11
Speaker
Yeah. It'll get you within the range that you need to be in. Or is the horse going to go 200 feet and then Dex is going to do a really awesome vault off of it and go 120 feet. Well, if they go the full 200 feet, they're going to be 10 feet past you guys. So okay. Cause you're 360 feet right now. You better do something awesome when you get here on that horse.
00:29:32
Speaker
There better be something to do. I missed five rounds of combat and all I said for the last three sessions is I want to do some combat. I want to shoot my crossbow for Dex's back on a horse. You need to blame Philip on both counts because he stopped the first fight and... I did while you were gone. Okay. If you don't come around that, if you don't come onto the scene moving your ribbon weave like a lasso
00:30:01
Speaker
Why'd you have to say it before I got to? You failed everyone. Okay. I can't do that again. So anyway, now that the one has been resolved, um, it is the magic user's turn. So, um, yeah, he's going for just Hail Mary passes at this point. So I didn't know the wisdom saving throw. Cool.
00:30:31
Speaker
Oh, he's got it. I need your exact score, please. Eight. Berwick, you're now a little sparrow. Oh, no. Dex, your turn.
00:30:54
Speaker
I come around the corner. Oh, no, actually, he has one last thing. He turns him against you, hobble away from the fight. He's leaving a wake of blood, but he's just trying to run away. So, yeah, Dex, it is your turn. And I'm coming around to be effective now, right? Yes. On the back of this horse. Yes. Swinging my ribbon weave above my head. The bouillon ducking so he doesn't get hit. When we got on the horse, you... No, I'm still on Dex's back. There was enough time to be on my shoulders for that to be an image we can all have.
00:31:28
Speaker
Do I see a bloody Guy yeah, he only managed to make it 30 feet away. So you see a bloody guy trying to pull himself away from the fight I just want this you're gonna ride past the people who are endangering our friends to chase down the Horrifyingly injured magic magic user you do you that's gonna do decks. I
00:31:48
Speaker
Plus, Barrick can't say anything because you don't know where he is. The thing is, I don't know that if this guy doesn't die, we may never get Barrick back. I don't know that, so I can't do that. That's also not true. That's right. That's also not in the least bit true. It's a timed thing in there. Yeah.
00:32:03
Speaker
I just forget. You're going to have Beric back on my on Beric's turn. Because Krast was one for a long time. That's what I'm going off of. That's because that's the Krast isn't as smart as Beric. OK. But you don't even know that he's been turned into this. I don't know that. So this guy means nothing. OK. What do I see as I come in to this? There's three guys, one engaged with Krast, one engaged with Bordell, one engaged with three and one engaged with three. And how far are each of them from each other?
00:32:34
Speaker
I mean, they're all in a line right next to each other. Here's what I'm gonna do. If I'm gonna jump in to assist one, it's gotta be the king. So what I do is I jump, leap from the horse, several backflips,
00:32:53
Speaker
and I come down again without the blade out. Booyah, still on your back. He's not on my back. As I'm doing the back flips, I do the whistle command that I taught the horse while we were riding, so it stopped. I'll roll for it. Bring it on, sucker. I got to do s*** for it. Animal handling. Give me an animal handling roll, and we'll see if you did that. You put a marker because I cussed. I got excited. We all did. We all got excited. Animal handling. Yes.
00:33:23
Speaker
18. I'll think about it. Anyway, the point, the backflip's happened. That's canon. Anyway, I come down with the butt. I'm elevated. I'm taller than they are. Even if I just jump straight off a horse, I should be able to come down with the butt of it on the guy who's attacking Boranell. So I do that with my ribbon weave off the table. Out of my hands. 21.
00:33:52
Speaker
21, uh-huh, that's a hit. All right, and you're attacking the one that's attacking Borneo. Yes, this is assisting Borneo. That was crap. 33 points of blunt force trauma. Nice. Okay. Booyah. Still on the back of a horse.
00:34:20
Speaker
Wait, how? Well, he's insisting that I'm still not on his back. When we got on the horse, he got off of my back. I don't think I did. I think I stayed on your back. Unless you- Do not deny everyone. Do not deny everyone. Booyah riding decks, riding a horse. By the time we got there, he had gotten off of my back. But I don't like horses. Does that sound like Booyah? No. Does it sound like horses?
00:34:48
Speaker
Does it sound like Dex to be like, no, it's cool. I won't need to quickly get off of this thing. I don't like horses. We got like, we got like Dex. And so now you've given us even more because now that conversation was happening as you rode onto the booyah. Get off of me. And then at that point it's too late. So Booyah gets off and he's sitting on the back of the horse, but he's gripped tightly to Dex's
00:35:17
Speaker
armor, shirt, whatever, holding on for dear life. Okay, let's replay my last turn then. What I actually did was stop the horse. Don't you just let Booyah jump off of your shoulders? It's even more awesome. Because I go before he does. But it all happens. He could have held on while you were doing backflips. That's the dumbest thing that's ever happened.
00:35:37
Speaker
It is definitely not the dumbest thing that has ever happened while we've been playing this campaign. It's the dumbest thing that's ever happened in human history. It's not that either.
00:35:49
Speaker
Fine, whatever, my goblin backpack dismounts the brick and horse with me. As soon as you jump off, then Booyah lets go as he's doing his little flip through the air to land on the ground. On his face? No, no, no. And I shouldn't have to do an acrobatics check to do it either. Because Dex didn't. So, fans, tell us what you think. Are we right or is Jeff right? There you go. Text your answer to 555.
00:36:19
Speaker
The listeners who do correspond to this, though, will obviously choose the silliest thing. Of course, the coolest thing. That's the silliest thing. We gave him the silly thing. We're so off the reservation at this point. So anyway, Booyah lands. Is Booyah's turn? Yes. That wasn't sure.
00:36:42
Speaker
Since he sees Dex taking care of the one on Borenel, he's trying to see where. Barracks at doesn't see Barrack anywhere. You see a really annoying sparrow that you feel like you should shoot out of the air. Please sparrow. Yeah, that actually would speed up the process. No, I'm going to solve that. So he shoots at the one in front of Krast. And 21. That's a hit and.
00:37:18
Speaker
18 damage. Okay. And he's Oh crap. I can't do it now. Nevermind. He's going to shoot the other one. I forgot the Hunter's Mark. Oh well. That's going to be 14. The boat flies wide. Okay. So
00:37:47
Speaker
Okay. Uh, Barrick, it is your turn. You are a Sparrow. You can take the actions of a Sparrow, but you can't speak cast spells or take any other action that requires hands or speech. I ran myself into the ground at top speed. I just fold my wings and dive straight into the ground. Okay. Taking one point of damage.
00:38:14
Speaker
Spares way like an ounce. You may actually be better flapping your way to the ground like I'm driving. I'm driving. He still has barracks brain and thoughts and all that good stuff, right? So he can do that. Yes, it would be more sparrowy to do it into a window, though. I'm just saying we're a mirror.
00:38:33
Speaker
I'm just questioning how Barrick knows how to get out of the spell polymorph. Um, Barrick is, I mean, do you want me to roll an arcana check? No, it's fine. Um, I will roll an arcana check with my plus 10 modifier. So this exact thing, this exact thing happened to Krast in my view. Yeah. But Krast just chilled for an hour. Even down to the Sparrow part. So if you think Barrick hasn't put any thought into what do I do with polymorph?
00:39:03
Speaker
Um, okay. So yeah, you crack into the ground, uh, and revert back to Barrett form laying on the ground. Do you want me to take a D six of damage or something? Um, yeah. Cause it's only got one hit point and the rest carries over. Yeah. You would take the excess damage. Okay. I take three damage. Um, and he gets five back. So no, I don't, because that happens at the beginning of my turn. And while I was the Sparrow, I was at maximum hit points. So, so that wouldn't be allowed to happen for me.
00:39:34
Speaker
Um, 30 feet. 30 feet for me. Okay. Uh, I pop to my feet. I move the other half of my distance and I cast lightning lure. Oh, which one magic user that's crawling away. Oh, okay. Okay.
00:40:00
Speaker
So I would like a strength saving throw from the magic user. Well, you know magic users is famous for their strength. I feel like you should be a disadvantage doing it too. He's whooped up. Jeff, I assure you that it does not matter. Eight. He is lightning lured and I drag him back to me. And when he gets to me, he takes
00:40:29
Speaker
14 lightning damage. Okay. He's still up, but he's smoking. I put my sword and I hold my sword out and I say, just stay down. And proceed. It is now.
00:40:56
Speaker
The three melees turn. So, um, one of them kind of is stunned by being bonked on the noggin by a stick and he turns and swings his rapier decks. That's a natural one.
00:41:17
Speaker
We'll resolve that here in a second. The other one attacks, did you get melee range or you shot? So the other one attacks Krast and that is a hit. Krast is looking pretty worn down. And three gets hit as well.
00:41:52
Speaker
Three looks fine though. Um, okay. And now Borneo attacks. That is a hit. Three attacks. That's a natural 20.
00:42:21
Speaker
Crass attacks and that's a miss. Okay. I just looked up major bred animals.
00:42:51
Speaker
How come y'all never told me this, this land's got mage, bread, ghost, tigers in it? Yeah. I want to know where those are. Cause those are boring else pets. Apparently. That's the natural 20. Use the natural 20 to summon them, summon the mage, bread, ghost, tigers. They've heard their master's call. That would be amazing. Tell me we're wrong here. Tell me it wouldn't be awesome. It would be awesome. Um,
00:43:25
Speaker
Charm and fear, right? Yes.
00:43:38
Speaker
Um, he looks up at you after you said, don't move. And you just hear on his very labored voice, he says for Breland. And he extends his hand up at you wisdom saving throw. It's a different spell this time though. 15.
00:44:03
Speaker
Um, okay. Um, you are now under the effect of the confusion spell. So at the start of your turn, we will deal with that. I understand that's the least climactic thing you could possibly do after saying that.
00:44:22
Speaker
Well, he's just trying to get away. So confusing you. That's not for Breland. I need to escape. Self preservation. You don't know what his role is in the government. He might be an important person. Definitely not. OK, so he doesn't have a cool explode everything spell because I checked. He's what this is. It's for Breland.
00:44:50
Speaker
You know, the sound was good, but I wish you guys could've seen what he just did. Anyway, it is now Dex's turn. I called my horse. I'm going to just continue wailing on the Boranell one. Wait, what? The Boranell bad guy. I said the Boranell one. You can't hear me all the time, I forget. I mean, that's a 20-something.
00:45:21
Speaker
24. Massive heel turn from Dex in the middle of the campaign. No, 26. That's a hit, right? Yes. Turns out he's been with his brothers the whole time, Barrett.
00:45:33
Speaker
Bill, that's a shame. Would you just quit if it was real that Jeff and I had orchestrated that and kept that secret the whole time? Would you just quit the campaign? Well, Barrick will lose that fight at this point because of his hit point status, so Barrick will die. I will refuse to let you bring him back again. Okay, hang on. I will burn his character sheet. Good enough. Jeff, don't do that. And then beat you over the head with his shoe.
00:46:01
Speaker
Okay, I'm trying to add small numbers, and I can't do that if I'm listening to you. I've already forgotten what I, I mean, I would have already, luckily I didn't move it. That's 15, 30. Yeah, yeah, let's not add it. Absolute silence while Jeff rolls his dice. I thought I'd added wrong, but I just did 39 points of damage. Okay, so yeah, you. And then Drakir will kill you, I never won you.
00:46:31
Speaker
Um, so yeah, you, uh, you swing your ribbon weave around and still blunted by the way. I haven't, I never extended the, um, say you crack him in the back of the head and you feel it kind of give away as he stiffens up and crumples to the ground. I didn't say it out loud. I was hoping that the fact that I didn't pull my blade out. You've attacked people with just your stick before with the intent to harm.
00:47:01
Speaker
You have harmed him to such an extent. I don't think I've ever killed anybody without the blade out. Oh, the shifter in the alleyway down in the cogs. You goofed him up bad. That's very true. You know, that's my guy. This is the one. This is the one that was attacking Borenel. The rest of them that I hit, I'm doing non-lethal. It is now Booyah's turn.
00:47:25
Speaker
Yes, he's crashed in a bad way. Cast healing word in his direction. Oh boy. 12 points of healing back for him. Nice. And shoots crossbow bolt at that one. 17. That's a hit. 14.
00:47:59
Speaker
I'm gonna sharpshoot the other one. 22. Assume that hits. Yes. 26. Okay. Okay, yep, that's it. Eric, roll a D10 for me.
00:48:31
Speaker
There we go. Eight. Eight. You make a melee attack against a creature within your reach. There's only one creature within your reach, so. You are overcome with, describe the emotion that would cause you under the confusion spell to just attack this person.
00:48:57
Speaker
I, well, the way I've usually played the confusion spell with characters is I assume that that result just sort of implies this sort of like hyper paranoia thing. Everything's around, everything around you is a threat. I have something. So the confusion kind of takes hold of your mind and you look back down knowing this magic, you should be the source and you see their face shimmer as half of it turns into a changeling face that you recognize. Sure.
00:49:28
Speaker
Well, I might, oh, he's on his, wait, no, he's not actually, I didn't actually knock him down. I might actually miss here. Just one, or do I use the attack action? Make a melee attack, is the wording. That is 16. That is a hit. That's what happens when I roll a natural four now.
00:50:01
Speaker
Well, I was trying until he made me not. He did 23 damage. Yeah. You just bring your blade down and stab my squarely in the chest. Yup. Yup. Convinced that you have killed Connor. And I assume that the spell goes away at that point. Yeah. And I looked.
00:50:29
Speaker
Barrick would feel bad, but this guy literally just made me do that. And it is the same dude on the ground, right? Now that he's dead, he didn't actually revert to a changeling. Oh yeah, he's Connor. No, not really. No, it wasn't Connor. I feel like it's worth asking that about every king's eye that we accidentally killed. Thus far, all of the ones that have ended up on the ground dead have retained their human form. Barrick looks down.
00:50:59
Speaker
deal with that later turns. OK, so the three melee folks to melee folks. One is going to continue to attack crass because it feels like it has the advantage. That is a miss. The other one is going to continue to attack three. That is a miss as well. Well, poopy. OK.
00:51:31
Speaker
Um, Bornell is going to lean on his hammer. Crass is going to attack the one still attacking him. That is a 19 and three.
00:52:01
Speaker
Let's hit. Nice. Dex, back around to you. Rules question. Rules answer. Any sort of check is a full action, right? Like if I wanted to try to reason with them to stop. That would be an action. That's a full action, not a bonus. So I can't go ahead and hit them if they say no.
00:52:31
Speaker
I'll still give it a shot. Okay. I'm just gonna scream, you know, because they're obviously engaged and stuff, but I'm just gonna... Alright, come on, fellas. Look, it's... it's... six odd two? Roughly, yeah. No, it's exactly. And one of the king, one of them's a warforged.
00:52:53
Speaker
Look, y'all. There's that ghost tiger coming down the alley. Not to mention the ghost. Yeah, we did never resolve that one. This works. That's all right, fellas. Knock it off. We will stop you, but we will also let you lay down your swords. And I would, I mean, it's the smart move for you, all right? You're fighting against the king here. This is ridiculous. And you will not survive in this. I'm not going to tell him I don't plan on killing him.
00:53:21
Speaker
Like, you ain't gonna make it home. All we wanna do is make sure that this guy gets back to his throne. Would you please stop? And I feel like that's at least six seconds worth of talking. So, is that... Go and roll. For what? Persuasion or intimidation? I did say we'd kill him, so I'd like to do intimidation, because I have proficiency. You did a good job with the role play, so you get advantage. Good job. Don't need it, but I'll go ahead and try it.
00:53:52
Speaker
Yeah, 25. Okay. They clearly exhausted and soaking wet and still cold from the storm raging. Just look at each other and drop their rapiers on the ground. And you probably want to kneel just to be safe, even if you don't believe us.
00:54:12
Speaker
they kind of look confused and drop down on both knees and extend their hands up. I just meant because the king is here and you were trying to fight him but the surrender thing's good too. They took it that way because of the threat to kill them and then saying you best kneel. Well. To the lord of mismatch. To the lord of mismatch.
00:54:38
Speaker
That's official. I mean, there's nothing I can do for this guy, right? He's, he's just dead. He's not dying. He's dead. Okay. What about blunt force trauma in the middle? Same. Yep. All right. Well, King three. Glad to see you two back together. Now you two fellas perception checks all around, by the way, say that's, I was about to say Booyah is looking around 18, 11,
00:55:08
Speaker
like 2035, I rolled a 19. 2035. Mid sentence Dex, you can hear footsteps coming up the street that you all rode the horse down. Footsteps that are clearly running and you hear heavy breathing. Somebody's running. Turn and look. Yeah, Dex is the only one that hears it. Yeah, so I turn the direction of them to see what I can see.
00:55:36
Speaker
Um, so you stopped mid sentence. Yeah. I mean, I would, you see, um, Mert and his cohort sprinting down the street. They're not as fast as you. So it takes them longer to get there. When a ghost tiger pounces on, where's my horse?
00:55:53
Speaker
um it's the stupid horse we're working on ghost tigers he's not gonna give us ghost tigers let me try to have my ghost tigers are canon i can pull him out of a book right now okay but something happened to the ghost tigers when power was seized if the ghost tigers are dead if you hurt those ghost tigers i will never forgive you i did nothing to the ghost tigers if you touched one hair on those beautiful babies heads um
00:56:19
Speaker
It's Mert and his boys. Mert and, yeah. How many? Well, it's just Mert and one. Oh, Mert and the one. Okay. The magic dude. Yeah. What we assume is a magic. Oh, yeah. Mert is very red in the face. I didn't describe. Mert is a portly fella. So, running as far as he has is put a strain on him. Okay. How close are they?
00:56:43
Speaker
At this point, the reason it was so high is because you heard them coming from a ways off. I would say 100 feet. In that case, I'm going to say, you two stay down. Fills, we got company coming. We'll look that way. You're all facing different directions. I say, look to your right. You're left, you're right. You're about six o'clock.
00:57:06
Speaker
So right behind you. So all of you can now see Mert and his cohort running down the street. I mean, are we still in the same initiative? Is battle over? Oh, sorry. This was technically my turn. Yeah. Hold on. Before you say anything else. So everybody turns and sees Mert and his companion running down the street towards you all. End of episode. Right. Yes.
00:57:37
