everybody? In this episode of Shaping Your Pottery, we're going to be learning about the power of trying everything. Trying everything in your pottery and how that's going to help build your voice. So I'm taking this little episode from Natalie Carr.

because one of the things she said was that when she was first starting out with pottery, she didn't know how to really, she didn't know how to make pottery, so she was just trying literally everything. She would go into the pottery studio and try everything. She was trying underglaze, she was trying wheel throwing, and she was trying literally everything.

And this helped her so much because when after or during that like eight week class that she had COVID happened. So this helped her start developing her voice a lot faster because she was trying everything beforehand. And when

And when she found something that she really liked, she kept on rolling with it. And she kept on doing things that she liked because she experimented with everything. I did the same thing when I was first starting out. I experimented with everything. There were some things that I didn't like, so I just didn't do those. But I pretty much experimented with everything. If I wanted to learn how to make handles, I experimented with it.

If I wanted to add things that like maybe hand built things onto my pottery, I tried it. If I wanted to add some carvings, I tried it. And this method of going about this is really, really, really, really simple and helps bring ideas into your mind and it really helps with

taking things that you're uncomfortable with and doing them anyways and that's where your voice is going to start developing. Because if you try everything, you're going to have a lot more in your repertoire than somebody that is only trying one thing.

And while they may be getting good at that one thing, that's not necessarily what they like to do. If you try everything, you can find what you like to do. And once you find what you like to do, keep rolling with it. Keep on going with it. As long as it makes you happy, keep on rolling with it. Keep on trying everything and always be experimenting. That's where your progress is going to start developing and your voice is going to start showing.
