Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Match Review

00:00:14
Speaker
Today, it is the Monday review game, and yet again, after an initially bubbly entrance, my voice is going to slowly quieten down a little bit, because to all against Aston Villa at home, not the best result. I'm your host today, Joshua Vince. I'm joined today by Craig Matthews and Joshua Duncan. ah Craig, I mean, you were just saying it a second ago. Disappointing, right? Yeah.
00:00:37
Speaker
who know a lot about home and going towards who's who's who's embarrassed about home. I'm not good enough. I don't know if it's time for the title. I'm not good enough. Well, as our esteemed member Matt said recently, we've got to stop talking about the title race until we knock seven wins in a row. And so we can't talk about a title race at the moment. We

Arsenal's Title Challenges and Squad Analysis

00:00:57
Speaker
agree to it. And there's definitely not one on at the moment, Josh. um I mean, it just, ah Craig said it to me before the game started, Arsenal seem to be the gift that keep on giving at the moment, don't they? ah Yeah, yeah, if you're not an Arsenal fan, you know um you know, if you're Liverpool fan, you're pretty laughing at us, you know, they'll good results for them, bad results for us. um I'm disappointed, I'm disappointed, but at the same time, we we've got we've got a lot of issues going on at our club at the moment.
00:01:26
Speaker
And I think, you know, the whole title pitch, I just think I forget about the start of the season. So yeah I think I agreed with you and I still do now. if There's no point mentioning any silverware in terms of the Premier League currently. like So what we're going to do is we're going to go through the game bit by bit. I have to admit that I didn't watch it live. I was rehearsing a play, so I wasn't able to watch it. I caught the last 10 minutes of it on the radio and that was the worst decision I made that day. those ten minutes just be like
00:01:57
Speaker
oh god they've done it again tell again and So starting off, um Martinelli got on the score sheet just about, Craig, just about bundled it over, didn't he?
00:02:09
Speaker
It was a good movement from then. The defender made a mistake, capitalised off the error, scored a good goal, good assessment was hard. So, they moved. We thought they'd see more. Then they scored a second goal and I thought it comfortable, two in on lead. Then they went down there, because it's too late after that, literally. Do you think playing on the right is suited, Martinelli, at the moment? I think so. These are what is suited on the right-hand side.
00:02:38
Speaker
I think it's more of a cut in one, it's across the wall with his right

In-depth Game Analysis and Key Players

00:02:41
Speaker
foot now. It puts some dangerous balls in yesterday as well, but we don't have a striker, he can gamble or approach off.
00:02:51
Speaker
Well Craig, you say we don't have a striker who can gamble or finish, but Josh Duncan, that man came a cropper for Arsenal, a volley finish, but giving Arsenal a 2-0 lead, King Kai himself. What did you make of Kai's goal? set up ah look I'm going to admit that Trossard had a pretty good game, and I can't stand Trossard, but he did pretty well.
00:03:16
Speaker
King Kai got the second, I will admit, it was straight at Martinez. I mean, this is what I mean about habits, you know, this is what I mean about him. Like, and this is what I don't know, he clouds Arsenal, Arsenal fans judgment, because he scores goals like this, where the keeper should have done better, or it got a lucky deflection, or he's offside and offside position, but he timed his run wrong, but he still did the goal, or he's on the defender and he goes in like, not,
00:03:44
Speaker
He's not a finisher. You can see he's not a finisher. I'm never gonna I'm never gonna you know, it is him I'm not even gonna custom anymore. I'm not even gonna say nothing bad about me. It's not his fault It's like his 40 plane. They do need Beth. He can do right, but I do not want to see this guy and number nine anymore I don't want to see him anymore because he's just If you're going for the title, there's a reason why Chelsea got rid of him, playing number nine, right? And we bought him here. And, you know, he's played a bit better on our title, I'll give him that. But he's not um he's not going to get you 20 goals in the league, maybe overall, but not in the league.
00:04:18
Speaker
I think what you said there is perfectly fair. I think because realistically, he does actually do a job for the team beyond being a number nine. Like his pressing is good. but His pressing is pressing's pretty good. He can be a nuisance, but he shouldn't be in that position. That isn't what he is. is He's not a nine. You're right. And he's never going to be a title winning number nine. And as long as our tetta continues with that thought, I mean, apparently the reason we didn't get Cisco, I think you said it the other day, is because he said, habits will be starting ahead of you.
00:04:48
Speaker
Which is yeah madness, because Hammett's is not a goal scorer. Sesco is. So he's kind of shot himself at the foot there, and I do actually agree with you on that. um Yeah, don't worry Josh. Sometimes the Josh has got to stick together, bro. Sometimes, sometimes. Now Craig, um Villa then, out of nowhere, started a comeback with a Tina man's goal.
00:05:10
Speaker
came completely against the flow of play. A ball floated into the box. Marino made a right hash of tracking his run. And Tina has just got ahead of him and managed to poke it into the net. I mean, at the back, there were moments where we looked really shoddy in this game, didn't we? 100%. I'll say poor defending from Marino.
00:05:31
Speaker
for the goal. If he marks him out properly, there's no way. The card's called Murray now, the other side's the Kiliman's. Kiliman's wanted it more. That's why he scored the header. If Murray knows where to fuck his head out or to put him or something, he'd have defended that goal. But all kinds from the press platform went on. Luke and Dean had the ball. No one didn't press him for that cross. Someone pressed him for that cross and it made him force them to go backwards. Then that goal would have been affordable.
00:05:57
Speaker
contains it now in a way, is what isn't it? It is what it is. yeah but that's the That's the saddest sort of conjecture. You can argue it is what it is. And what it was as well, Josh, not long after that, a Villa got their tails up and Watkins got a second. Now, what I'll say was it was a beautiful ball to the back post from Villa. Like the ball into the box was stunning. Watkins with a good first time finish, but Pate did not track him at all. Again, the defending just didn't seem to be switched on.
00:06:28
Speaker
Yeah, I think even in the first goes, well, I think he could have got a bit tighter for the cross maybe, but he's not right back. I think we've all said it now on this podcast and everyone that's was asking, we don't want to see Thomas Parley playing right back. For him, he's a midfielder and he's good. When he plays there on his day, he's pretty decent.
00:06:51
Speaker
and I'm not going to lash into him too much, even though he's a professional foreplay. And I think you should, you know, track him. Your runner is just a, you know, you know, every bread and butter, really.

Controversial VAR Decisions: Impact on the Game

00:07:01
Speaker
But um yeah, it wasn't good defending. No, it it wasn't great. And but it's I think it's easy for us at the moment with the form being so up and down to really hammer at these players. But sometimes the game's just against you. And it certainly was, Craig, when Marino scored a winner.
00:07:19
Speaker
or the winner that never was, because it was judged that Haverty's hand had come into contact with the ball and had caused the deflection. Now, I don't know about you. I don't think much of his hand touched the ball. What do you think? I agree with you. I don't think he hit his hand. I don't think he hit his hand. I think it brought, it brought like a side of it, the side of it that went in. But they never, they never, they never, whenever they are, normally here on and they have a long review.
00:07:48
Speaker
ah a very short review on the v ah so i've definite checked it properly that and refer if the ref will gone to the video monitor are on this sta chat that's hopefully asked me to give them a call but a very quick say oh no han no goal yeah cause i all go often not there to keep them that go Because I was listening on the radio at that point and it did seem rapid. I mean, Josh, what did you make of it? Because it was kind of like, it was the last, apart from like, uh, Marino hitting the post late on and then Trossard shot being saved by Martinez very quickly. It was the last big chance of the game really, wasn't it? It was, it was the moment that could have been Arsenal's salvation. What did you make of the whole handball?
00:08:29
Speaker
um ah so when I an effort when I first saw it I was just like no I don't think that's how boring you know I think that's a bit and that's a bit I think it's a bit harsh and and like what Craig said they made decision very quick on it so unless the rules has changed from from what I know because even his his body doesn't his hands that close to him anyway yeah so he's not like his hands out there his hands out there then you know I would say yeah apparently you know it's a no go But um yeah, there's not much he can really do. I think he did try to get out of the way as well. of just So I'm a bit confused why I didn't really stand. The letter of the law seems to be in an unnatural position. That's kind of what they say, isn't it? I think. Yeah. for hamburg Like you say, he you can see it it definitely made contact with his hip.
00:09:16
Speaker
And he was bending his body to try and avoid the ball, and he tries to tuck his hand in. That's when it brushes it. And I think the deflection ball comes off of his hip. but His hand does make contact, but to say that that's an unnatural position, I have to

Arsenal's Path to Improvement: Depth vs Quality

00:09:30
Speaker
agree with both of you. i think I think it was harsh, but, Craig, that's not why we lost the game, is it? We didn't lose the game because of that moment. No, they don't. They're still in the front, but a proper relationship.
00:09:42
Speaker
I've been going through exciting, I've been going through a lot. Normally, teams are going through a lot, we're going to get a third and fourth goal. I've been going through lots of days in defense, to not seen enough up front.
00:09:54
Speaker
um Overall, if you want to even out both, half we were better in the first half, and after we were better in the second half, that's what was the half of the game change. It was a game on two half. We sent it all season. It's a season that when we've gone one lot, I get right in a couple weeks ago, we went one lot.
00:10:10
Speaker
Then you get a second or third goal. The second round became stronger, became better, and they got the second goal. They got the goal to make it 1-1, the penalty to make it 1-1. There's a lot of games this season when we've gone 1-0, Liverpool game as well, at home when we beat in the bathroom, Liverpool at home.
00:10:25
Speaker
um then We can see the goals and they had the confidence to drop out of the team and then they they got the last minute equalised off. So it's been like awesome sport of our season so far. it does It's been a rough, it's been, I think it's probably been one of the most interesting Premier League seasons I've ever watched.
00:10:43
Speaker
but it's been a rough one as well it's not been the nicest so that was the majority of the game when we come back we're going to talk a little bit more about a deeper analysis of the game and i want to come back and ask josh straight away what is missing so we'll be back just after this message Here at Global Sports Podcast Network, we spend a lot of time selecting our delivery platform. Zencaster came out the clear winner. We are reviewing our two-wall draw with Aston Villa at the weekend on Saturday. Josh, I mentioned before the break, I'm going to come to you with a question.
00:11:38
Speaker
what at the moment at Arsenal is really missing because everyone's talked about it being a striker we need a striker then again we have such reliance on the likes of Saliba and Saka as well you could see Saliba being out the team had a massive impact on the way it defended and it brings Pate into a right back position Saka we've still not really been able to replicate that energy or Is there a deeper issue at Arsenal in the moment, like Craig alluded to in his last answer, where there's a real confidence problem in the team? What what do you think is missing at Arsenal at the moment to make us proper title challengers?
00:12:16
Speaker
I think it's pretty simple. I've been saying from the start, I've seen it in a squad depth. You need to have a squad depth. And we just don't have it. And it shows, all right, defensively, we've been a bit unlucky. I think we've got at least what, the riots had four, what, three or four injured. The host, Tommy Hassey has been injured. Ben Wyatt, no one saw the Ben Wyatt one. And, you know, Saliba, he's been injured now. So, you know, that's that. You can say it. All right. That's unlucky.
00:12:38
Speaker
But the attacking wise, we should have saw that a long time ago. You know, I said it from like two seasons ago, you know, we we need squad depth, you know, squad depth. Look at C.E.'s team. C.E., their second team can easily be Arsenal's first team on their day, you know, and and that's why they've won back-to-back titles. I'm not going to say this season. and not good I don't know what's going on. Maybe it's the charges with them. I i don't know. But i yeah, I think it's squad depth. But also as well, I don't think The goals that we're conceding, I think, especially the Villa game, I think we're just moments in the game, we just switched off and Villa just talk, you know, they just took us apart then. I think it shows in Premier League, you can't you can't switch off in games, you know, you need to be, especially playing for the title, you need every moment counts. I think that's such a good point because the competitiveness of the Premier League as a level that we've never seen before is it?
00:13:27
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, it's one of the best things in the world. There were probably a couple of seasons ago where you could argue it slipped a bit. It's a bit too predictable. It's a bit nice. But I think this season has really proven that it is comfortably the best team in the season of season, the league in the world. I am so tired, boys. My mind is gone.
00:13:48
Speaker
Craig, picking up on a point that Josh made, and I think it's a really, really important one, depth. Squad depth is a real problem that we have. And I was, list again, listening on the radio is really interesting, because you get you get a slightly different vibe than you would get watching the TV. And they were talking about Arsenal's bench in that game, and especially in the offensive positions. They said, who can you bring on to really change the front at this point in time? And all they said was Raheem Sterling. And that didn't really inspire much confidence, really. I mean, Josh is laughing now.
00:14:17
Speaker
that was That was our opportunity to inspire an offensive change. like where do we Because obviously we bought so many defensive players, and Josh is right. Injury-wise, we've had a nightmare. like We've got a squad full of defenders, but there's only three of them fit. So do you think that focusing on a starting attacking player is more important, or focusing on building more depth, which can be impactful, is more important?

Mikel Arteta's Management: Success or Failure?

00:14:44
Speaker
I'll say there are both.
00:14:46
Speaker
building depth and buildings have a strong bench where you can rotate, say some games have a spot, some games have a strike a spot. You want to bring in players that are going to replace the first team players, look at that city, for example, a hundred million students on the bench. Hardly played for them by the hundred million power players, one champion to lead, primarily titles, is one of a lot of stuff.
00:15:08
Speaker
You want to have the man to have a helicacy game, picking the squad, not picking the same players every single week. They know some players in that team know they're going to start every week. You need some games where the manager surprises the team, the squad, and says, you know what, you're not starting today, you're going to start. I think we need to do some deep addiction there. Everyone knows what teams are going to start for Arsenal every week, because they know it's going to be God bless the leader of the week. You know, if Tim Bessford's going to be Tim Barr, and maybe Ben White's going to be Ben White,
00:15:37
Speaker
There's never a situation where you think, oh, maybe I'm kind of throwing my spot today, or maybe Tommy has to, if it was far ahead of this player. So it's super noticeable when it comes to a spot in 11 and our selection of squads. So it's good if we can get a stronger bench, stronger bench and a stronger, the stronger team. I mean, maybe I'll get a set of four as well. To be honest, I actually think that possibly getting a stronger bench would be the priority over a striker.
00:16:03
Speaker
because you just to have that versatility and get goals from elsewhere. um Josh, there's a question I wanted to ask you. We did the Villa crossover last week. Fortunately, you weren't able to make it that day, but they asked a really interesting question. And I kind of wanted to get your opinion on it. Is this season not winning a trophy ah a disaster for Arsenal because of the progress that we've made? And is Artessa in trouble if we don't win any silverware this year?
00:16:32
Speaker
um No, my I don't think so. I think Arsenal, I think even this season as well, I think Arteta, he's going above his weight, I think with this Arsenal team as well. i we on i don't I don't feel this team can win the Premier League how it is now, you know, and it's the job that he's done from when we were all finishing fifth and ah you know and we had, you know, Emery there.
00:16:56
Speaker
he took over. I think he's done a good job. I know some Arsenal fans are a bit frustrated and they don't understand we spent 700 million, why we're not winning titles. Okay, maybe you can argue some of the money could have been spent in different areas, but we could argue about things if I was a millionaire. You know what I mean? What we've got now, and I think Arteta is doing the best he can out of this team. I mean, we're still second, you know, and, you know, you've got to think about we're still second. Our title race is is pretty much all of our not, you never know, Liverpool might drop a few points. You know, I mean, if we, we're still in Champions League.
00:17:39
Speaker
I mean, you know again, you just need to get number nine in, get a career to sign and then maybe maybe they can go for the title.

Young Arsenal Talents and Future Prospects

00:17:47
Speaker
But I think I think I'll tend to do a decent job, to be fair. Oh, what I said to them was that we're still ahead of schedule. Like, we were so far ahead of schedule when we finished second two years ago. but i think And I think people forget that. And I think those Arsenal fans who are calling for Arteta's heads are the ones who say, oh, we finished second twice, how aren't we won? How haven't we won yet? Because we shouldn't be here at the moment. Anyway, like the turnaround has been so rapid and so sudden that I think the team still hasn't probably quite got you gotten used to it yet.
00:18:16
Speaker
um To end this section on a slightly more positive note, I mean, two all, realistically, against Aston Villa. ah At home, disappointing, yes. so But Villa are a very good side. Taking a point against them, you can probably take in any other season. But Craig, there has been one player who has been a constant source of light in these dark times. Miles Lewis Skelly continues to impress, doesn't he? He's been remarkable so far, MLS. I think he's shown up lots of veteran players in the team.
00:18:47
Speaker
like he can't win no fairs. He's been playing like a veteran man. He's been playing for a few years. It's good to see that the academy is getting the young players from the academy doing good things like him and Skelly. If one area and a couple of others in the academy see that, these guys are getting opportunities to play and hopefully they can get their chance as well. Once I say about young players coming to Arsenal's team now, once you get the opportunity, you have to take it at both times because if you don't, you get replaced They've got an awesome man, a 40-30 million pound player. And then you yeah you end up being so far alone on that end of being sold. So it's good to see that I've taken the opportunity. I know that we've bought California in the summer. California is where I'm not going to start this season, but his injury record has been horrendous this season, to be fair. And I think Skelly stepped up, up more than stepped up in big game situations. Topped them away, stopped the man's city away this season, and Liverpool at home.

Premier League Highlights and Results

00:19:43
Speaker
against Aston Villa, topping them at home last week, so he's really stepping up every game he plays now, so we have to give him credit where credit is due. Yeah, he's been probably the big surprise of our season so far. I mean, Josh, he's keeping Kiran Tini out of the team. a Admittedly, not the biggest surprise in the world. Zinchenko, he can't seem to get a sniff at the first team. I mean, he's been in and out of injury, but he's keeping Zinchenko out. Arguably, he could. Would you say that he keeps Caliphiuri out of the team at the moment with Caliphiuri's fit?
00:20:12
Speaker
To be honest, when I've seen him, I think he's more comfortable, California than playing in that left back role that I've seen so far this season. I don't know if California, not to say he's had a bad season, but I think maybe he's not been to be fair or you know probably still got niggles in his injuries. Yeah, I think he's done really well. He should be really proud of himself. But I think what Arsenal fans do, and England fans as well, um we we we put too much pressure on these young guys, you know, and then just let them know their crafts, let them understand, let them just don't put too much pressure on them. that Give praise, but it's due, but he's one of the ones where, like let's just say he doesn't kick on now. People just say, well, why has he kicked on? He was so amazing when he was young. you know I think just let the boy settle in. He hasn't had a full season of football yet. Anything can really happen. and he could The next couple of games, he could have a disaster. on And then, you know, I ars fans i think the same happens with Bellerin. Bellerin came into the team with a breath of fresh air. you know he can't I think he replaced a Debushi. Debushi was injured, and Bellerin came and stepped up. yeah and
00:21:09
Speaker
And now, if you ask me, ba in what are you doing now? He's probably a model now, I don't know. think I think he has a very big clothing line. and I think that's what it is at the moment. Because but i I was listening to ah another podcast, a very, but you know, an enemy podcast, we shan't name them with a certain Micah Richards in it. And he was saying, Oh, yeah, he should be playing for England.
00:21:31
Speaker
And it's just like, slow down. He's played about 10 games for Arsenal. Look after the boy first, okay? Let him play in the under 21s, under 23s, World Cup, whatever you want to do with all that. But ease him in. don't yeah Don't push him too hard.
00:21:47
Speaker
Right, I think that will do for part two. ah We're going to take another little break. And when we come back, we're are just going to look around the rest of the Premier League because there was some lovely results to talk about. We might be in a bad mood of after our result, but goodness me, some results, especially we're recording this on Sunday, especially some of today's results were beautiful. So we'll be back just after this break.

Global Sports Podcast Network, every club, every day. And welcome back to the Daily Arsenal Podcast. It's the final part of our Monday review, and there was a lot of action this week. Now, we're just gonna get started. We're gonna peel off the rubbish band-aid first. ah Craig, City spanked Ipswich 6-0. I watched a little bit of the game. It's the only football I've actually watched all weekend while I was prepping this show. It's the only time I've had. I mean, Man City look as though they're starting to get back to their their fullest opening moment.
00:23:10
Speaker
They're back in form. The only grip was the Brentford game, the other day, the 2-2 draw. what are from that ever since that Ever since the last game they lost, but they were winning ever since. Often they're going to count the team very rapidly and fast. like they're They're looking back in good form. And they're building some new players as well, coming in as well. They look like they're going to be a force to be recommended for this rest of the season. Or maybe Guardiola's going to wheel out some of the old heads and bring in some younger talent in the summer. What's the space? They're going to be seated, they're going to be back.
00:23:38
Speaker
Do you know what's really annoying? I bet they're gonna finish second. I feel it, they're gonna bloody finish second. So that that's that's the crap bit done with. Now, Josh. Rubbing hands together time. The early kickoff today was at Goodison Park and Everton hosted our good friends Tottenham Hotspur. Now I had a feeling I just had a feeling in my bones, I put it on my, light do you do the live score predictor game? Yeah, so um at work, there's three of us, we always do it and we sort of have a competition to see who gets closest. All of us thought that Everton were going to win 1-0. The final school was 3-2. I mean, it's not been the perfect season for Arsenal, but my God, it's been awful for them, hasn't it?

Yeah, I mean, we same old story of Tottenham. They just need to play against, you know, they just did his league goals. I think 16 goals they've conceded in what, the last five games, something like that? Yeah. You can't, at this level, you can't be doing that. You know, surely now, surely he has to go.
00:24:47
Speaker
Like this it Monday morning, he had there's no way he, if he's in a job year, I don't know who handles his contract or he's agent, but he's a lucky, and either I can't even swear, he's a lucky guy. like Let him stay, let him stay. Oh yeah, we want him to stay, but there's no chance he will. I've literally, Josh, it got in my notes, Everton beats Spurs 3-2, surely he has to go. I've truly got that in my notes for this episode. And do you know what I've really enjoyed about Spurs in the last couple of weeks? I don't know if you've been watching Andrew Posterkogli's post-match interviews. It's the heads down, refuses to look at the camera and just, yeah, we weren't really good enough today. You're actually taking the mic a little bit with your questions here.
00:25:35
Speaker
I don't think it's very fair to say that we didn't play very well, but yeah we it was um it was unacceptable, quite frankly. the The result was unacceptable and we didn't play well enough at all. He's such a mopey bugger, isn't he? He's such ah such a bad loser.
00:25:52
Speaker
If he's a top manager, of course he would be. Of course he would be. fair To be fair, they have got a lot of injuries, though. That's probably what's keeping him in the job so far. I mean, again, I wouldn't want to do ah have our tetters job or a post scan job, you know just all the injury problems. It's a nightmare.
00:26:09
Speaker
what they're back to is Archie Grey who's 18 and draggers in who's not very good and a brand and a brand new keeper because the other three keepers are all injured like there they've had a rough ride of injuries but we can still laugh at them it's fine now Craig There was another great result as well. Today, at Old Trafford, I saw people, I left my rehearsals around about, so it started, I think the game started at half two. I left my rehearsals about five-ish today. I saw people
00:26:42
Speaker
who were in town in Manchester United shirts looking very sad. It's half an hour to get from Old Trafford to where I was. They had left early. They lost 3-1 against Brighton. I mean, my word, it's it's if Arsenal's the gift that keeps on giving, Spurs and United are even more so, right?

Premier League Standings and Surprises

the theater of nightmares not the the do nightmare that ah the state the roof is always leaking they bought that cut oh man I don't feel sorry for him. I don't. No. Let the misery continue, please. Did you hear what Amorim said, by the way, after the game? Yeah. Yeah, I did. Craig. Craig, listen to this, right? Josh Lise was coming, but listen to this. This is from Ruben Amorim, the Manchester United manager, by the way.
00:27:35
Speaker
We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know you want headlines, but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and change that. Here you go, your headlines. Their manager said they are the worst team in their news history. I mean, Craig, if you were playing for them, how crap would that make you feel? I'll retire from full straight away. i'll tell um I can't do it anymore. Honestly, it's not theyre like,
00:28:02
Speaker
I did the worst in my 19th history, but what's the worst in my 19th than that? I mean, they've been relegated before, so... Yeah, but it can't be that bad. I don't know, they really ne'er the bottom of the table. That's what they were like, what, 17th? 18th? Or 16th? 17th?
00:28:20
Speaker
I tell you what, we're coming towards the end of the episode. Let's have a little look, shall we? So the table as it stands, Liverpool are first still with 50 points. They've also got a game in hand. So if they beat Everton in that game of hand, they could be nine points ahead of us. Like Josh said, we're not talking about a total race. so They're quite comfortable. We currently level on points with Nottingham Forest, by the way.
00:28:41
Speaker
Like, Josh, I don't know what you did at the beginning of the season when you picked out Chris Wood in particular as someone to... ah You did it definitely in jest as someone to laugh at, but my God, your words have inspired the man because he's been incredible.
00:28:57
Speaker
You know it is. i I didn't even say it to, you know, to take the mickey out of him. I think he's better in habit. I've always thought he's better in habit. If you're going to put a big man up front and you want to play that sort of football, Chris was a guy. He's done it for years in the Premier League. All right. He's not been prolific goal scorer like he's done this season, but he's better finishing than him. Yeah. then I mean, if you're a Forest fan, you're in Dreamland right by now, you know, you probably go to bed comfortably, you know, no no worries or at all.
00:29:24
Speaker
It's, John, I actually really enjoy it. I really enjoy it when these teams who should be really languishing at the bottom have such brilliant runs. And the fact that we're 22 games in and they're still third means that it's not a fluke. You know, it's one of those.
00:29:38
Speaker
Have you i seen them? Have you watched their games? They're quite entertaining. They actually play football. They're better than us. They're more aggressive than us, aren't they? Let's be honest. andnna Craig makes a good point. Manchester City on a push. They're fourth now, Manchester City, after their crisis. They're up to fourth. Newcastle and fifth.
00:29:59
Speaker
Chelsea and sick who have been a little bit in and out of sorts recently. I think they're playing they're playing tomorrow. I think aren't they? and wolves That's it yeah moves away um Which is incidentally our next game as well actually so it'll be interesting to see how balls do against Chelsea Midtable looks about what you'd expect Bournemouth Villa Brighton Fulham Brentford Palace, then we hit 13th place Manchester United With 26 points Now if if this was a normal Premier League season, they would not be safe from relegation. They've not gotten even near that 40-point mark yet ah They've only just gone over it So they would be prime relegation meet if we didn't have the Southampton's of the team Then under them West Ham in 14th who under Graham Potter don't look much better than he didn't under Lopategi but then Spurs in 15th place ah with 24 points
00:30:52
Speaker
They're eight points above the relegation zone. Can you imagine? Ips which go on a tear. Spurs continue to lose. Spurs relegated. In fact, this is my last question of the of the podcast and I want both of your opinions. We'll go Josh and then we'll go Craig. Josh, would you like to see Spurs relegated?
00:31:14
Speaker
Oh, a hundred percent. Is that even a question? I've got a question, actually. You could put it for your question. Would you rather see Spurs relegated or ask win the Premier League? I'll ask them to win the Premier League. And there's a very specific reason for that.
00:31:30
Speaker
St. Totteringham's Day is one of my favourite days of the year. And if they're relegated, where's St. Totteringham's Day? but Where's the North London Derby victories? I i i want to keep beating them in the Premier League. Don't get me wrong, I would laugh my knackers off if they got relegated. bla But like,
00:31:50
Speaker
I just like beating them. I mean, St. Totteringham's Day at the moment could be next week for all we know, like the way things are going. What but what about you, Craig? Would you like to see them relegated or would you rather have them in the league and keep beating them?
00:32:02
Speaker
other than the League card, I know a lot of Tottenham fans and they're very arrogant fans, so I just love beating them. Just but lower doesn' a lower the level a little bit to know that they're little boys in the league. They're not League boys. ah Yeah. and They've got to get used to their
