You see, I just had a really great interview with Mandy Henry. And in this interview,

Mandy was explaining to me how she started adding colored slip to help make her designs pop out a little bit more. In this, she was explaining she didn't really know how to make her designs really stand out a little bit, make it look really good. So she was on YouTube. She was trying to learn about all these different ways of making designs with stencils.

And she found somebody on YouTube that was applying colored slip onto their pottery. And once she found that idea, she said like millions of ideas started coming into her head. And like once she found that idea, everything just started rolling and rolling and rolling.

And that's what brings me to my point to this episode, is that you don't need a thousand different ideas or a thousand different things to help you find your voice. All you need is one. One little thing can change how you make your pottery, how your voice will actually show up with your pottery. All it takes is one. You don't need a thousand, all you need is one. And you see,

When you think about it this way, instead of going out and trying to learn every single technique that you can, if you just try to learn one single thing and just really like that one thing that comes to mind, right? And you take that one thing and you could go deep on that one thing and keep on having it flow and flow and flow.

All it takes is one thing to help you find your voice. You don't need thousands, you don't need ten thousands, you only need one thing. And you see that one thing can come at such a random time. You know, you could be literally walking down the street one day and you can see something that you like, maybe it's a certain color, a certain color design.

And you'd think, wow, that looks really cool. I wonder how I would apply that to my pottery. And that one idea, that one single idea leads to hundreds more because all it took was that one little bit of inspiration, one little thing that can make your pottery go a little bit further, one little thing to make your pottery look a little bit better, go a little bit further to help you find your voice. All it takes is one thing.

You don't need thousands, you don't need 10,000. That's why it's really important to just kind of, once you find that one thing, to keep on rolling with it.

You see, I think it's really important to go out and experiment, go and try new workshops, to try to make your pottery better. But once you find that one thing that you really, really like, go deep on that one thing. Don't go and try to go and

Do like a thousand other workshops just because you think you think it's fun. It is fun. And I do encourage to go out and do workshops. But once you find that one thing that you really like, go deep on that first, get good at it and then go try to find another one thing to try to add to that one thing you had before.
