Tom's Upcoming Disney Trip Plans

00:00:40
Speaker
with Trevor. How's it going, Trevor? Hey, pretty good.
00:00:42
Speaker
So, i you're... I, uh... What? yeah I was going to say, you're you're like two weeks out now from your trip, aren't you? I am, yeah. It's coming up real fast. It's sneaking up on me, honestly. I, you know...
00:00:55
Speaker
is This is such a weird trip. We've never done a trip like this before because we are like leaving in the afternoon on Tuesday, two weeks from now. Right. I guess a week from this coming Tuesday. Yeah. You're actually yeah yeah less than two weeks out now. Yeah. We are. Yeah. So a week from this coming Tuesday, we we're going to leave at like early afternoon. We're going to drive to Daytona.
00:01:18
Speaker
Uh, we're going stay overnight in Daytona in a hotel that we haven't stayed at a long time, but we used to stay at all the time before my mom moved to Florida. We used to, we are, that was like our standard thing. We dropped it. What are you laughing at? i'm I'm being reminded of an episode of modern family.
00:01:33
Speaker
Um, did you ever watch modern family? Yes. Yeah, absolutely. Where, uh, um, jay the the grandfather ed o'neill's character yeah takes them to uh it was a it was a new year's eve episode it was like it was like a resort that he went to and he's a pamphlet from like 30 years ago it just like it's old yeah now this is just a just a hilton it's nothing exciting okay but but i was just thought of that as like you know i remember this from forever ago and it's amazing and okay yeah No, it's just a standard hotel. Nothing exciting. It's a place to sleep for the night.
00:02:06
Speaker
And then, you know, we'll get up in the morning and and then go to ah go go to Disney after that because it's about two hours or so from Daytona, right? And so we haven't done this this particular route in a long time now. It's just not something we've done in a while, right? And plus...
00:02:23
Speaker
We've never, I think, in our history of doing Disney, started on a Wednesday. Like, that's just weird that for us. That is weird. You're right. It is. Now now that I think about it, i our trips, the latest I've started is a Tuesday.
00:02:41
Speaker
and but But that's Disneyland. So, like, like disneyland Disneyland was a little bit different because, like, Or for me, I guess, like, i like it's close enough. I can travel there in like two hours and be ready to go. But like usually like, yeah, I get what you It's like usually it's like you kind of want to start and finish on a weekend. Yeah. What it feels like. yeah yeah We started on like a Saturday and then finished on like a Saturday. It was like Saturday or Saturday, like always. Right. Like that's what we did.
00:03:08
Speaker
yeah But this is different, right? they We're just we're doing it a little different this time. It's a really it's a truncated trip, right? We're only doing four days to park days, which, you know, again, is also a little little weird for us. where We usually do a whole week yeah at Disney, but didn't work out that way this time, which is fine.
00:03:22
Speaker
It's just weird. It's just different, you know? Yeah. And what was I going to say? ah Yeah. So. So, yeah, we're doing that. And and ah it's just it's just a little odd. And then we're also, you know, we're meeting up to with ah with some with ah another family.
00:03:38
Speaker
Uh, that we know and, and there, you know, so we're going to be kind of meeting up with them and we're going to be having a couple of meals with them. And one of the things we ended up doing is, uh, I was, i was thinking on, uh, on, on like the day we're at Hollywood studios, I was like, kind of want a book like a lunch for that day. We have, uh, like a early ish dinner booked for that day at California grill And, ah i you know, I was like, let's book a lunch at Hollywood Studios. And and it was like, OK. and I really wanted to do sci-fi.
00:04:09
Speaker
But sci-fi was that we're going to have seven people total. Can't really. That's a hard one. Yeah, because you can't fit in one of the cars. Right. And so you end up at the tables in the back that are like the little umbrella. And I'm just don't want to do that. I want to be in the car. You know.
00:04:23
Speaker
good I mean, well, yeah, I get i get i was gonna say or they could split you between two cars, but I guess, yeah, they generally want to put you towards the back, which. Yeah, like I get it's a bit of a different vibe because it's like you're looking out over drive in it's like being at the concession stand.
00:04:38
Speaker
Yeah. At a drive in. But yeah, look to me, like like a big part of the fun at sci-fi is sitting in the car. Yeah, I feel like you kind of lose it. So instead we're doing 50s, which is, you know, not it's it's not like a consolation prize. It's just another great option. it's ah yeah I would say it's an equally as good choice. is it Yeah.
00:04:57
Speaker
Primetimes are more go to default in recent years. Like we we really just kind of. We've been to sci-fi multiple times, but then we started going to primetime and we were like, I just like the vibe more. and Yeah, yeah. As weird as it sounds, I mean, I know this is like deliberately how they're doing it, but...
00:05:17
Speaker
It does remind me of my grandparents' house when I was young. Like it like the decor is very much like, oh, my my grandmother had something like this. Yeah, that's what it is, right? Yeah. I mean, we're we're doing two restaurants that have the ah the mean waiter-waitress thing going on, right? Oh, between that and Whispering Canyon. Yeah. Yeah, we're doing Whispering Canyon too, which I'm excited about.
00:05:44
Speaker
ah You know, i fifty s is is still ah is ah to your point, Trevor. I love 50s. We've done 50 so many times. And, ah you know, but I love sci-fi, too. Sci-fi is just is is also one of those nostalgia things, too.
00:05:58
Speaker
But I still I will never forget. And I probably told this story before, but we had a waitress one time that was really, really funny. I was really into it. It's always funny with Whispering Canyon in the 50s. It's kind of like your experience really varies based on how bought in the cast member is.
00:06:16
Speaker
It's like the skippers on Jungle Cruise. Yeah. likere on Jungle Cruise, the the guide on a great, great movie ride. Like it's very your experience is very dependent on their skill level. Right.
00:06:28
Speaker
So and, you know, some of the some of the waiters in which is super funny. Right. Super funny. Some of them are just. Whatever. You know, they just say they're there. You know, it's, yeah, like, I guess, yeah, it's not to, you know, you know, judge it like, you know, you know everyone has to be like top tier all the time. But yeah, you know, sometimes it's just people bring different energy to it. yeah And it's not always matching the energy that,
00:06:53
Speaker
you want, which I'm, yeah. But yeah there was one time where my daughter was really young. She was maybe, I don't know, six months old, right? She was really young. We were there.
00:07:03
Speaker
And I went to use the restroom. We were 50s, like I said, and I went to use the restroom and I came back and my wife and daughter were gone. Now my wife had taken my daughter to change her diaper, which, you know, you do.
00:07:13
Speaker
And i you know, and I just assumed that she went to do something like that. And I sat down and i so And I said to the waitress, I said, oh, ah because she's like cleaning up now. Like we're about to leave. I said, oh, where'd my where'd my wife go? And she goes she goes, oh, she left you. She said it was a good time, but she was over it.
00:07:28
Speaker
And i was like. It's like, that's, I mean, you can't teach that, man. You can't teach that kind of quickness on that, you know? and i she She, okay.
00:07:39
Speaker
the The fact that it was like the end of the meal. And she she had no reason to do that. No, it was over ready. and It was great. I mean, I died laughing. I was just like, I was like, man, you're but that's the thing, though. Like, you have to have those kind of quick, you know, kind of comeback skills, ah you know, when when you do those. And I mean, we we've had similar experiences at, at a you know, Whispering Canyon where we had gotten the ah my my sister-in-law had gotten on the unlimited milkshakes.
00:08:10
Speaker
And she kept ah she kept getting new flavors, ah but not finishing the previous flavors. So by like the third one, the waitress brought out like the tiniest mason jar ever of it. And it's just so fun. You know, it's like... Little thimble-sized. Yeah, it's the tiniest mason jar you can imagine. And then another one she brought out, she had tied the ah she had tied the straw at the bottom and put the straw in.
00:08:34
Speaker
And so she kept trying to drink it and there was nothing coming out and she couldn't figure out why until she pulled the straw out. Like... That kind of stuff that is, you remember that stuff forever. And ah that's why, you know, we keep going back to places like Whispering Canyon and 50s. But, you know, there's, that's, i'm I'm looking for, it's so funny that, you know, that that's a thing. It's just that the the waiters and waitresses being, ah you know, silly with you and and doing, you know, funny things to you. That's like, it's funny that that's a thing.
00:09:05
Speaker
yeah now Now, I have a question. is So i you said you were traveling with another family.

Dining Plans and Disney Traditions

00:09:10
Speaker
Do they? Do they know? Yes. Yeah. Okay. I was going to say, is this a family that is like familiar with Disney and these restaurants in particular? or So they're only going to be with us for actually two days because they're actually Florida locals that are they're DVC owners and annual pass holders. So they are very, very. Okay. so Because I was going to say that that's actually kind of the other part of it, too, is like.
00:09:32
Speaker
ah you know You know, going and having those those interactions with your family is fun, but when you get to do it with, like, people that... like like like And I guess, you know, even even you know you know having two families together, it does change how the interactions go and everything, but...
00:09:47
Speaker
But the fun part for me is always when it's like you can tell somebody that like has walked into that environment and they don't really know they don't what's going on. They're and they're like like like the confusion that comes from it is always fun to see. Right. like Oh, yeah. Yeah.
00:10:03
Speaker
It's like when I in um a joke. Yeah. Like one time and we asked for a straw at whispering Canyon. She came, she came over and like dumped a whole box on the table and just walked away without comment. It was hilarious. Like that kind of stuff is so fun. And, and, you know, like just literally just throws a whole bunch of straws on the table. Like, and you know, obviously the ketchup thing is always fun too, but yeah.
00:10:24
Speaker
At a, at whispering Canyon, but fifties is, is got the same kind of vibe just in a different way. ah but yeah, Yeah, I'm excited too that we're doing both of these. i haven't been to Whispering in a while. I'm trying to think the last time we went to 50s. It has to be three or four years now. So so wait you said you said you're doing primetime and California Grill in the same day.
00:10:45
Speaker
But we're we're doing a very early ah Prime. We're doing like 11 o'clock for Prime. Okay. but yeah I was going to say, because i yeah my my experience with that is I once tried to do Via Napoli and then Garden Grill, and that was a huge mistake. Yeah, it was like...
00:11:00
Speaker
or Actually, no, we did the other way. We went to Garden Grill, which was like, you know, hey, you know, you know eat all you can kind of thing, right? You know, family style. And then we yeah we had, ah we ended up with an early reservation at Vianapoli.
00:11:16
Speaker
And I did not consider how big the pizzas were Vianapoli. And I was like... Oh, this is a mistake. I felt bad because like like they were like, can you want to take it to go? And i'm like, no, I'm no i'm good. we're doing We're doing a lot of dining. this this trip this Considering how short of a trip is, we have a lot of dining reservations, right?
00:11:38
Speaker
and Which is fine. i yeah I like doing, you know, I like doing the dining reservations. Like, we're doing Ohana the first night, which, you know, i also noted to my wife, I was like, I realized that almost all of our meals are all-you-can-eat meals. Which was not on purpose. It just kind of happened. You know what i mean? Yeah.
00:11:54
Speaker
Silver lining is you're spending less on quick service because of it. that's Yeah, I guess. That's true. yeah but like like that's yeah but That's my rationale. Yeah, but we're doing Ohana, and then when we go to Magic Kingdom, we're doing Crystal Palace for breakfast because we love Crystal Palace, and breakfast at Crystal Palace is great.
00:12:11
Speaker
ah that's like ah It's almost just like a thing we have to do every trip now just because we love it, and my daughter loves it, and it's just like become thing. That's Garden Grill for us. is that Yeah.
00:12:22
Speaker
It's that same, like, i don't I don't have to do it, but I have to do it. yeah shit Yeah. We're also doing Garden Grill, you know, for in large part due to the fact that we get 40% off. Yeah, good reason.
00:12:36
Speaker
Not do that. and And you can enjoy the immaculate vibes of, you know, of course living with the land. Yeah. Of course. Well, of course, you're got to go and live with them. I mean, Quinn. Yeah, but but you do, you go and you eat, and then when you get off, you go downstairs and you ride the ride. and it's That's right. It's perfect.
00:12:50
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, what else are we doing? We're doing in California Grill. We're doing that it? Yeah. that it feel like there's got to be more than that. i mean, that's a lot. know. I feel like there was a lot. Yeah, I know. I feel like there was more, though. I don't know why. um but yeah, for four days, it is a lot. I agree with you because we're doing we typically don't do more than one table service meal in a day.
00:13:14
Speaker
You know, like that's not something we do usually. So, ah yeah, I and there's one day that we don't even have anything, which is ah the Animal Kingdom day because we're just going to go to flame tree. mean, that's, you know, yeah. but What else are you going do? know there's all these wonderful sit downs in Animal Kingdom, but Flame Tree. Yeah. Well, yeah. Flame Tree. Yeah. a flame It's, you know, well why go anywhere else? ah i yeah I mean, yeah. yeah like You know, we we do hit up Yak and Yeti as well. um Oh, yeah. The quick service outside Yak and Yeti. i can't remember what it's called. so Whispering Canyon. Yes. So we have Whispering Canyon and then we have we have primetime ah lunch at 11 and then California Grill at 525. They'll
00:13:56
Speaker
the last day. Okay, that's that's not bad. It's a good gap. you going yeah yeah yeah you got You got lots of time to walk it off. Well, and prime time is not all you can eat, so that helps. No, but I mean, the the meals are still, or I guess depending on how you go, like it's, like, I usually get the sample platter, which is like...
00:14:12
Speaker
Yeah. It's top tier, but, and it's a lot of food. So yeah, yeah, no, you're right. You're right. I'm just looking at the menu at California grill and I was like, and I'm not, we've talked about this before. I am not a fancy person. Right. And California grill is really good, but I'm also just looking at the menu. I'm going, Nope, Nope, no Nope, Nope. Nope. Nope
00:14:35
Speaker
is that allowed I mean, I don't think they would stop you. Well, it's it's also a prefix menu, right? So it's you pay you know the one price and they're sold. They'd be like, we're going to charge you as an adult, but we'll bring you whatever you want. but Yeah. I mean, listen, there's there's stuff on there I'll eat. And probably the menus. I mean, they change the menu fairly really frequently there. so um But yeah. So i listen, the dining is is always a big part

Blizzard Beach Anticipation

00:15:00
Speaker
of it for us. I have to tell you, though, Trevor, I think the thing I'm most excited about is going to Blizzard Beach.
00:15:05
Speaker
i I mean, i have yeah i don't know why I'm like psyching myself up for this, but I'm just that we watched I watched a video tour of someone just walking around Blizzard Beach to each thing. was like, this is awesome. I'm excited. You should be excited for Blizzard Beach. I feel like you've been you've you slept on the water parks a little more than you should have. I don't disagree with you. No, listen, I don't disagree with you. We have just, I don't know. My wife is not a water park fan, right? So i mean, we just, I mean, there's my wife, my, or sorry, i shouldn't say my wife will go to water parks, but I am definitely more obsessive. Like to the point, like she's, I've proposed to her. We have, um we have a West Edmonton mall, which is it's,
00:15:45
Speaker
a huge indoor water park. And I said, like, let's just go there. And she's like, why? And I'm like, because I want to go to a water park. Because im water because we're not going to Florida this year. So I want to go to a water park. And she's like,
00:15:58
Speaker
I guess. Or like like she doesn't she doesn't want to go hang out in a water park because she, like understandably, she doesn't like doing the slides. But I love doing the slides. Me and my son love doing the slides.
00:16:10
Speaker
Yeah. And yeah, but but even outside of that, like, like you know, Lazy Rivers, Wave Pool, all that stuff is, it's just fun. Like water parks are fun. I don't know what else to explain it. like Well, and I also just like the fact that I don't have to pay extra for it is also really... Yeah, i mean that you like yeah take advantage of it. Absolutely. is Yeah. you know it's because Because the thing is, is that you you feel even more satisfied. could Because like we always would get like the the park hopper tickets that had the water park included with it. Yeah. And then that water park stays. like It's like, well, I'm i'm here anyway. and And you don't feel...
00:16:48
Speaker
the weird like mental math of it and and I know like this is not like the yeah you know the whole like trying to get the most for your money kind of thing you know the trap everyone falls into of you know hey you you got you know you spent all this money you should be doing doing the most right but it's like the water park being and I'm using air quotes free is like you You can go and lay in the lazy river and it's like, I can spend like three hours here and it's fine. Like I don't have to be anywhere. I don't have to be like, like it's it's just nice having that time blocked off where it's like, yeah, you can go and do the slides and everything. And like, and like we usually do that. It's like, we'll we'll hit up like all the slides at least once. I usually do the, yeah the, the racer, the, the carpet slides. Oh yeah. Yeah. I like those. so I'll do those a couple of times, but then it's like, I'm just going to go in the lazy river.
00:17:39
Speaker
Oh, and that's probably going be most of my day is the least river, man. yeah and And that's like my wife did that, too. like Like there was one trip where I think she spent like a good four hours in there. We we actually we were there with my parents. And so like we were going around doing stuff and and my mom was staying with our stuff ah at the ah like where um we had set up at one of the the beach chairs.
00:18:01
Speaker
And my wife took off and was in the lazy river and we were going and doing water slides with my, my dad and my son and everything. We came back like hours later and, and, and we were like, has anybody seen Jen? And they were like, no. And so, so we started looking for her and she was just, she, she had done like multiple laps in the in the lazy river. And she was like, yeah, I was just, I was chilling. Like, you know, yeah, that's great. It's good. Like you, you should do that.
00:18:28
Speaker
That's exactly what you should do. Yeah. And that's, listen, I assume that the majority of my time at Blizzard Beach is going to be spent in the wave pool or in the lazy river, which is fine with me. i you know, I don't feel the need to go down crazy slides. Like i just kind of want to chill in the water and that's, that's good with me.
00:18:46
Speaker
Like, you know, I don't need to do more than that, but you know, I also, I wanted to kind of, what, that, I was really hoping your your daughter would convince you to go on Summit Planet with her. but she She was trying to. When we watched this video, she's like, she just wants to go up on the chairlift and then not do anything up there. And I'm like, we can do that. I mean, we can, you know, just walk down. And after that, that's fine. There's but there's the the family. There's the tube slide you can take down. That's fine. We could do that. She's, you know, I think she's she's going to enjoy like the kid slide area quite a bit. So like she'll she'll have fun with that for sure.
00:19:18
Speaker
And then the course the wave. So, but yeah, I'm, I'm pretty, I'm pretty excited for it. It's going to be, it's going to be a lot of fun. Um, but yeah, it is sneaking up on me. It really is. I, it's, I keep kind of forgetting that it's coming up so soon, you know?
00:19:30
Speaker
Yeah. It's, It's weird how slow and fast the summer has been going. I know. no Trust me. I know. It is the end of July, but it feels like July took a lot longer than it usually does, but not... I don't know. It's hard to describe. like Yeah, agree. I know i agree this year we're coming up in August, and it's like...
00:19:51
Speaker
But it's like, oh, like, how how are we here already? I agree with I totally agree. So, well, listen, we haven't talked about anything, any news or anything. So, I mean,

Future Trip Strategies and DVC Events

00:20:00
Speaker
trip trip report stuff is valid. You know, we're, yeah, yeah yeah we're we're talking about that. and you know, after after you're done your trip, so just I'll throw this out here on the side you know, we we have a fairly large trip coming up next year. I've been doing some planning. So ah we're going to have to talk about my planning at some point because I'm figuring out how to mix staying at Disney resorts and Universal and what it looks like for a longer than a week long trip because that's the other thing too is that we're going for more than a week so nice there's going to be some discussion there but we can talk about that when you're back of course yeah so yeah absolutely
00:20:40
Speaker
But yeah, let's ah let's talk about some DVC news. and I'm going to apologize for this first one, Trevor, just ah from the onset. You know, and so you know i it's okay. I know I've said this before is, yes, you know, the these contests are wonderful that that, you know, Disney does try and, you know, do sweepstakes for people.
00:20:59
Speaker
It's always sad that us Canadians are never it included in them. I feel like it has to be a legal thing of some sort. i It is. there There is a whole thing with like how prizes work. And and part of the problem is it's every province has their own legislation around how prizes work. And I think it's too like Disney doesn't want to mess with like... don't want to deal with it. If you win in Quebec, it's different than if you win in Alberta versus Ontario. So... Yeah, I get it. Yeah. But they're so they're doing a welcome home week's sweepstakes. And as much as I would like to, you know, ah believe that they're, you know, naming this after our show. No, just kidding. Yeah. Yeah. Welcome home is clearly because of us. Yeah. It's obviously we didn't take that from them. um But you're doing ah a sweepstakes for a ah spot on next year's member cruise.
00:21:52
Speaker
So it's a combo DVC contest and Disney Cruise Line contest, kind of. um But you can enter for a chance to win a seven-night cruise out of San Diego on the Disney Wonder, which includes a deluxe Ocean Stater for two guests along with prepaid gratuities and port fees. So it's only two guests, by the way. just want to mention that.
00:22:12
Speaker
I'd pay extra for people. Yeah, of course. You just have to pay the extra. I'm just like, why didn't why wouldn't you do like four? But, you know, whatever. Uh, but in the past, they've been doing these contests where it's like, you just have to like watch some videos and stuff like that. And that's how you enter. This one actually takes some work.
00:22:30
Speaker
Uh, this is a photo contest. So you have to, uh, upload, up to three photos, uh, that it, when I mean, let's see what it doesn't even say. Like this article doesn't say exactly what the photos need to be about. It's just like,
00:22:47
Speaker
ah So I could take a photo of a bagel and... Well, no. Okay. It says photos are judged based on... 50% of the score is based on relevance to member experiences. So a DVC resort, member lounge, member event, or related event. 40% quality of the photograph and clarity of the submission copy and 10% originality. So...
00:23:07
Speaker
That is very specific. Very Yes, it is. It's very specific. I mean, okay. i'm i'm so So I'm going to take a picture of a bagel because I would have that for breakfast in my DVC box.
00:23:22
Speaker
resort And then I'll make sure it's a very good picture of a bagel. And I'm the only one submitting a picture of a bagel. So I get originality. There I win. There you go. Original. You win. ah this now Yeah. They only advertise it as submit photos of your favorite made for members places or experiences. So like it's not like a picture of your family or anything like that. as It's like people enjoying DVC related stuff. Yeah.
00:23:51
Speaker
Yeah. Seemingly. Yes. that That is what it is. So, yeah, I mean... Basically, they want you to show your top hat and monocle off as much as possible. That's actually a great original picture right there. Just me walking through the Grand Floridian with a top hat and monocle. Or or standing in standing in one of the lounges. Yeah. Yeah.
00:24:10
Speaker
Yeah, just sort of a cane and under my arm, right? And ah actually, there's ah there's ah one of the newer Mickey cartoons where Minnie sends ah sends a Mickey through, like... um Oh, the, um, where, uh, it's like gentlemen's training or whatever. Yeah. And he comes back and he's got like the cane under his arm and like yeah the hat and everything. Like I want to dress like that and walk around, uh, Graham flirty in and inside someone take a picture of it. And then boom, there, there's my photo submissions.
00:24:41
Speaker
Yeah. I'm glad you knew that reference. I wasn't sure if you were going to. Yeah. So I, I do watch Mickey shorts. Yeah. The Mickey shorts are great. So, uh, that, that one was, and that one was really funny, but, um, But yeah, that's that. There's your original picture right there. Yeah.
00:24:55
Speaker
i think Well, they said to submit up to three, right? Yeah. So, it so yeah so so okay, here's here's how you have to do it if you're going to do that. It's three photos of, like, the the um Grand Floridian Lobby, but you start from very far zoomed out, and then you, and so, like, but it's the same photo, yeah but you just keep zooming it in on the, the you know, yourself with the top hat and monocle. So it's, like like, just, like, panning view of the the lobby,
00:25:23
Speaker
You know, little bit more zoomed in and then like, like center framed top hat monocle. You know, they're going to go for like, they're going to go for just like, you know, a family photo. You know, that's not fun. Yeah. I feel like I would do that anyway, just like knowing that I would not win the competition or anything. Just do it. I'm sure someone would appreciate it over there. Someone would have to laugh at that. Okay. Like that was creative and that's fun, but you know, they can't. The reason that they give the, the, the quantitative like rating system that they've got here, I feel like,
00:26:03
Speaker
This way they can kind of like, if somebody does something like that, you can't be like, well, this is the most original one. So it should win. It's like, yeah. Okay. Like, yeah, you know. And you also know that this, this photo is going to be used for promotional purposes. Right. So, yeah. And that's why the quality part matters. If you if you're taking it on like, you know, your Nokia 5600, I don't even know if they had cameras, honestly, in a Nokia back then, but they didn't. but Yeah. But yeah, you know, if if you're taking on like ah an old, you know, you know, like digital camera or something, it's like all pixelated. Yeah. You know that they don't yeah they don't want that.
00:26:41
Speaker
But no, they're to because they're going to use this for advertising. So you. Yeah. I feel like there is, though, some ah some. Room for discussion on that with like quality because like you could do a really well framed like Polaroid-esque photo. Like I've noticed that it's actually been a thing lately where people are starting to bring back more like retro canadada cameras but as digital cameras. so it But like the photos you get out of it have that like...
00:27:10
Speaker
you you know, have that like um exposed film kind of look to them instead of instead of just being like a high quality digital photo. I feel like you could try and skirt around the quality thing with like it's a very high quality retro looking photo.
00:27:27
Speaker
OK, you can do that. Yeah. Yeah. You could do that. That makes sense. Yeah. ah Well, their statements I feel are a little ambiguous. this is I guess my thing.
00:27:37
Speaker
Well, they're doing this for welcome home weeks and welcome home weeks are starting. ah So starting it has started and I'm going to obviously take advantage of this. um And this is through August 26th. So it's a short little period here. iss just a month. But lucky for me, I'm going to be doing going to be there during this time. um I am looking at the complimentary ice cream. ah You know, I'm going to see it says ice cream novelties. i assume that's going to mean a Mickey bar. It better be a Mickey bar. Mickey bars and the strawberry fruit bars.
00:28:06
Speaker
Yeah. if If it's just a strawberry fruit bar, it's going to bum me out, though. I want a Mickey bar. hey I always go for the strawberry fruit bars because I can't eat the Mickey bars. so yeah So some of us actually really enjoy the strawberry fruit bars. That's fair. That's fair. Okay. Yeah. um ah But so Magic Kingdom Wednesdays ah from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tomorrowland Terrace.
00:28:25
Speaker
Hollywood Studios Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 to 2 at Tower of Terror. ah Animal Kingdom Thursdays and Fridays at from 1 to 4 p.m. by Upper Bradley Falls.
00:28:37
Speaker
And then Epcot, which is where I'm going to definitely get it, is Tuesdays and Thursdays because we'll be there on Thursday ah from 1 to 4 p.m. at the DVC Discovery Desk in the Canada Pavilion, actually. And then over at Disney Springs at the DVC Preview Center from 11 to 5, Saratoga Springs 11 to 5 at the DVC Preview Center, Riviera.
00:28:56
Speaker
Okay, random. 1.30 to 5.30. And then over Disneyland, Star Wars Launch Bay on July 28th, August 11th, August 25th, 2 to 4 p.m. Those are very specific times.
00:29:08
Speaker
ah Also, Aulani, Vera Beach, and Hilton Head will be doing this on a couple different days as well. So that's cool. those are Those are good places that you can go get these things. ah There's also going to be his character experiences, Trevor.
00:29:20
Speaker
yeah So at Disney world at the boardwalk, uh, it looks like August 4th, 5th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 18th, 26th, uh, from 11 to one at the, uh, boardwalk dance hall there.
00:29:33
Speaker
Uh, so going to go check that out. That seems to be their go-to place for these character experiences. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then Disneyland July 22nd, which has already passed. So don't need to mention that, uh, August 5th, August 9th, uh, 26, two to 4 PM at star view station or starcade. So,
00:29:49
Speaker
And then also Vero Beach, Hilton Head, Alani. But ah you can go and look those up if you're going to happen to be at those places. But I mean, those a lot of those have either happened or... Actually, i think the Alani ones have a couple happening in August, but Vero Beach has already passed.
00:30:05
Speaker
Yeah. Hilton Head coming up it like this week. So yeah, yeah I guess if you're if you're at Hilton Head or Alani, you could possibly... run into a character meet. It's weird. i mean, i guess I understand why they don't do it quite as much as they do like in the parks, but or not in the parks, but in like Disney World. But it's like it's weird that it's like just one day.
00:30:27
Speaker
It is. Yeah, it's weird. But I get it. But then they have this welcome home wake up, which I they don't this doesn't actually explain what that is. And I kind of want to look up what that actually is.
00:30:39
Speaker
um But it seems to be some sort of coffee event. um Yeah. Yeah. Specifically, it's okay, there's one at Bay Lake Tower and one Wilderness Lodge. Well, I'll be able to, I could do this even, I don't drink coffee, but. From 9 to 11 a.m. mean. I'll probably be at the park by then. Yeah, was going to say, are you, like, I mean, I guess if you happen to, if it's like, you know, a break day or, you know, maybe if it's like, you know, you're getting ready to, like, if it's your, or for me, like, fly out on Saturday. So, like, I could do this.
00:31:12
Speaker
I could see myself doing something like this if it was happening while I was there. Well, this trip is so short. We have no break days. Yeah. You know, because, yeah, from 9 to 11 a.m., like, what am I?
00:31:23
Speaker
um Yeah, but like that's a couple of hours that I don't know that I want to just go spend in a lounge. I feel like it needs to be earlier than that. Like, it should be like 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Like, that's after rope drop. Like, what do you do? that's what I'm saying. Like, who's it? Yeah, rope drop. Come on, please. Yeah.
00:31:42
Speaker
Like, come on, guys, they do do better than that. Yeah. You know, i mean, yeah that's the point is that, yeah you know, DVC members aren't necessarily dropping everything all the time. So well some of us there is a demographic that this appeals to. It's just not us, I guess, is the the problem.
00:32:01
Speaker
Well, I'm also just like yeah not interested just based on like, you know, it seems to be a coffee based ah event here. And I, yeah you know, I could care less about this. Yeah. Mingle with fellow members for coffee and a morning treat. That's what it is. Yeah. The only way I would do this is if I happen to be staying at Bay Lake Tower and I happen to have nothing else going on. Well, I am staying at Bay Lake. It's just, you know, yeah, I doubt we're going to be, you know, getting there that early. so Like I said, it and have have nothing else going on that particular day. Yeah, exactly. Slim to no chance. There's a wine mixer that's happening over in California and Aulani and and a mobile order discount at Disneyland. We've talked through a lot of these stuff, yeah a lot of these but we got more details now. So ah the 40% off that I'm going to be using, very excited for that.
00:32:52
Speaker
I love 40%. I mean, that's that's just awesome, right? 40% off is great. ah And then, you know, ah so the free candy movie Under the Stars and stuff like that. So, yeah, listen, that' we we heard a lot about this already, but I just, you know, there were some more details. so Huh, interesting. Sorry, i'm just I just noticed this Welcome Home photo session. the ah The extra information they have on this line is kind of weird.
00:33:16
Speaker
so So it's a free 15-minute PhotoPass photo session. So so this is in Disney Springs, by the way. So you can yeah and go and get photos done. Registration required via this email address is being protected from... Oh, i see i see what happened.
00:33:32
Speaker
This email address is being protected from spam bots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. So that's, I think... DVC News tried to link whatever the email address you're supposed to use to sign up and they got blocked. That's pretty funny, actually. So ah because I was reading, I'm like, what does this mean? But then I realized, yeah, it was it was how how they tried to pull this information got got blocked. Yeah.
00:33:57
Speaker
All right. Well, that's enough of DVC news. yeah ah Why don't we talk a little bit? I want to talk about this auction, Trevor, that's happening ah because kind of want some stuff. I want to like bid on stuff.
00:34:09
Speaker
So, okay. I guess the, okay. This auction, is this actually being run through D23 or is this a, this is an official Disney auction. Okay.
00:34:23
Speaker
So, so they're auctioning off some really weird stuff. Yeah, so it's called the Disney Experiences Auction Rare and Remarkable Finds. um But this is just an example, though, Trevor. But yes, you can get you can get like the picture from the Fort Wilderness cabins.
00:34:40
Speaker
Or you can get a Disney 100 lamppost medallion from California Adventure Park. Yeah. Or you can get the bug eye glasses from Tough to be a Bug. Yeah.
00:34:52
Speaker
Those plastic glasses that you got that are for $49.99. Now, this is an auction, though. from From a non-existent attraction that has been gone for a long time in Disneyland. Not that long. In Disneyland, it's been gone for a very long time. Sure. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Yeah.
00:35:10
Speaker
So it's kind of weird that they're auctioning it off now, but there's lot more stuff than that, though. and And, you know, this is just an example of a couple of things, right? Like there's I mean, there is a ah ah big Thunder Mountain. It's all not not all Disneyland stuff, right? There's a big Thunder Mountain ah of original park used attraction vehicle car that you could buy.
00:35:34
Speaker
For $13,000 is the current big right now. Okay, so so it's it's the roller coaster car that you're buying? Yeah, yeah. crazy Right? Like, if I had $13,000 lying around, yeah, sure. Why not? And, I mean, do you have a spare bedroom that you're putting this rollercoaster car in? I mean, listen, that's a... Or is it just going to live in the living room? That's a secondary concern. Yeah. Just step in front of the TV and you can just watch yeah movies while you're in your big Thunder Mountain railroad car. mean, I don't... you Well, yeah, I would absolutely do that, right? But, I mean, there's also just, like...
00:36:10
Speaker
you know, there's an Animal Kingdom a sign ah that is is there, right? There's a lot of artwork I'm noticing that, see, like, it's specific pieces of artwork from, like, hotels and stuff, which I'm guessing is, like, over time as they've done renovations, like...
00:36:28
Speaker
Artwork doesn't, um, or, you know, they're they're always changing our artwork. They're always finding like new, um, new people to do pieces of art for, for the hotels and stuff. And I mean, like, I guess the artwork in the hotels is it's not like, it's not super high end.
00:36:44
Speaker
Yeah. Um, art that you're dealing with. It's like, like, I mean, look at some of these things, like it's like $80. Um, I, I like the one. Trevor, you can buy, you can buy the return bin for the 3d glasses from Muppet vision three d
00:36:59
Speaker
Why? Why not? What do you mean? it's It's history. It's gone now Where am I going to put that? I don't know. collect your 3D glasses. Okay. Fair. Yeah. you know The Bugseye 3D glasses that you buy as well. Yeah. That's right. You can just put it. ah Come on. That's cool. I love that. ah That makes me. I want that.
00:37:20
Speaker
I was actually one thing that caught my eye was because it's a bit obscure is there is a ah there's a piece of artwork for that it's Dominguez Grove oranges. And yeah um it so it was a piece of artwork that our work does was in the Grand Californian a Hotel.
00:37:36
Speaker
And the reason I know what that is, is that the Dominguez family was they were the family that originally owned the land. that Disneyland was built on. It was an orange grove and they sold it to, uh, to Disney. But part of it was, um, they had a family tree that still lives in the park.
00:37:55
Speaker
It's actually, they they call it the Dominguez tree. It's near, uh, it's in Adventureland. And it's, it's funny cause it's like, it's a weird, like obscure thing that it's like,
00:38:06
Speaker
unless you know the history of it, you don't know what that is, but I see where it has, it it is technically relevant to Disney, even though it's not like an obvious Disney thing. Like it this goes back to our previous conversations about like things that,
00:38:20
Speaker
like Like, you know, having shirts where it's like, you know, it's a reference to something, but it's not always clear. Like, this is my kind of stuff that I would go after is like a weird, obscure thing that's like, oh, you have a picture of like a Dominguez Oranges advertisement.
00:38:35
Speaker
Yeah, that's from Disneyland. like Yeah, yeah. okay right i mean trevor you don't want a original uh park used tomorrowland disneyland trash can for 2200 like who doesn't want that i'm glad that my wife's not going to hear this episode for a couple weeks because it's i mean it's a legit trash can from tomorrow logo my wife would want that trash can and i and they have another it would be cool but again my like Where would I put that? Yeah. There's a, there's a wilderness lodge one. Ah, i I would, I would get that. That looks cool.
00:39:09
Speaker
There's actually not that much stuff in here. i don't know if they're going to add more stuff, but there's only like two pages where the stuff right now. i feel like, I mean, it's probably one of those things that you won't see all of it until you're there.
00:39:23
Speaker
is or may or yeah may or maybe it's not meant to be a huge Yeah. I i actually i thought that we had talked about this a couple weeks ago that it was going to be a pretty big one. So I thought we talked about it. Maybe this isn't all of it. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, there's like there's a bunch of stuff. I mean, there's ah an exit to Tomorrowland sign that was in the park. I mean, OK, there is a Polynesian Village Resort sign, too. It's only eleven hundred dollars. Oh, my gosh.
00:39:50
Speaker
Yeah. yeah Do I have $1,100? Well, that's just what the bid is right now, though. It's probably going to end higher than that. ah Yeah.
00:40:02
Speaker
Oh, you're looking at the Polynesian one? Oh, yeah. Okay. The Polynesian Aloha sign? Yeah. That's very nice. That's cool. I do like that. Yeah. that's it And that's an original resort you signed. Look at that. These carousel cars are also... ah They're equally as insane as the Big Thunder Mountain um car because like they're not like these are huge. yeah like where i' i but I'm not seeing this. Disney California Adventure King Triton Carousel. um
00:40:34
Speaker
Why am I not seeing this? That's weird. I just I went to the ah Because this is your heritage auction. I see it. I see it. I'm sorry. i thought those were small figurines. No, those are full-on. Those are full-sized carousel um seats. Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
00:40:51
Speaker
That's pretty cool. or the ah or don't know what it would do with it, but it's cool. Or the mummy prop from Indiana Jones. I mean, like that would be cool to have. It's only $5.50 right now yeah like Like this is the like you said, the the thing is, is looking at these, it's like, oh, you know, the pictures don't really do justice for exactly how big these things are. Right. yeah I think that's why they have in the pictures. They have a person standing next to it just to give it scale. Right. Yeah. Yeah. You just have to click on it to get there. yeah i mean, i like like just just browsing through it, though, you don't really get a you don't get a scale of what you're dealing with unless it's like.
00:41:30
Speaker
Yeah, unless youre you you know unless you know what the item is, right? Oh, they got the magic keys from the Disney store. Yeah. The Spaceship Earth exit sign is also like, it's such a basic sign, but it's also going for $4,600 right now, which is crazy considering it's just a Spaceship Earth sign. But I mean...
00:41:53
Speaker
I can kind of see that, though. like Yeah, no, agree. I mean, listen, there's a special birth like yeah there's yeah small world. small world prop flowers yeah that are going for that are currently at $3,200. So, I mean, yeah, that's that's crazy. And how like how is the ah Disneyland Haunted Mansion original park used Medusa slide glass or glass slide from the 70s only at $700? That feels like a thing that should be thousands.
00:42:21
Speaker
i I'm shocked i feel like people don't know what that But no, like, mean yeah, like how is like, how could you not know what that is? Like, that's what I'm saying. Like, I would, I mean, that's incredibly cool.
00:42:35
Speaker
That to me is one of the coolest things in here. i don't know. But I mean, yeah, that that is definitely cool. I don't know that it's like.
00:42:46
Speaker
I don't think you can rate what the coolest item is. Because it's all subjective. There's a lot of cool stuff in here. There is some amazing stuff in here, to be honest. There really is. I know my wife won't listen to this episode because she has a delay on because she listens to the episodes. It's too late. So, yeah, it'll be after this auction finished. And, yes, no, sorry, we're not buying a trash can, honey. I'm sorry. See, my wife doesn't listen, so she can't tell me no to buying a Big Thunder ride vehicle. You know, it would be wild if I did bid on this trash can and all of a sudden it just showed up on my doorstep. If you got it. Oh my God. If you got it. Yeah. That would be amazing.
00:43:27
Speaker
That would be hilarious. It's pretty good. I mean, it's kind of crazy. I would just not say anything. I would just be like, check out our new trash can. I would just open up and be like, oh yeah, it arrived.
00:43:40
Speaker
look as the ja why does it smell so bad oh yeah that's because it's like 25 years old okay i'm sure they've washed it and also this is not an epcot trash can that's used as a dining table yeah i don't know it doesn't look like it's in great shape yeah tomorrowland i mean those trash cans do

Disney Memorabilia and Auctions

00:44:00
Speaker
get beat up and tomorrowland i would i suppose this large one's pretty cool had Honestly, i i really, the thing I would want the most is the Big Thunder ride vehicle. um
00:44:10
Speaker
But I'm not going to do that. though It would be crazy to do that. I mean, it's only $5,500 right now. But, you know, I'm not going to do it, though. I can't do that. It's crazy.
00:44:21
Speaker
If ah Tom ever won the lottery, there would be signs. There would be signs. Oh, you know, there's that guy. like and There's a couple of people that like really collect like Disney Park stuff. like yeah I think Stamos actually does. John Stamos has like yeah the original sign and stuff like that. Yeah. like i would I would be that person. like I'd have a little mini museum of stuff like this. yeah like I would absolutely buy these. the The guest house is where you house all of your Disney paraphernalia. I think it was the director, Guillermo del Toro, that bought a the house next to him and literally just made it a museum for all his stuff.
00:44:57
Speaker
like he just he He has so much memorabilia and stuff that he just literally bought the house next to him and just filled it with all his memorabilia. doesn't use it to live. it just um It's just storage. Just a museum. It's just a museum of his cool stuff.
00:45:09
Speaker
I mean, you know yeah if you have the money to do that, cool. You know? Yeah. Anyway. Can't argue with that. Anyway, we should move on from this auction because, yes, it is. know. We could just look at it all day. And, you know, wish we could um wish we could do something about it, but it won't happen.
00:45:27
Speaker
So, instead, do you want to talk about Kraft mac and cheese? I really don't. I want to actually read the ad first and then we can talk about this. Yeah. Okay, I'll leave it there so that everyone's confused on that segue. Yeah, that's just... You guys don't call it Kraft Mac and Cheese in Canada, right? you It's KD.
00:45:44
Speaker
Okay, it's Kraft Dinner, right? That's what it is? Well, KD. I mean... Did you just call it KD? Yeah, like they actually even say it on the box and now it's just KD. We don't even call it Kraft Dinner. Okay. Okay. Hold it. takes too long to say k craft dinner, but you can do the ad now. the spot This episode is not craft. Uh, KD, uh, it's a DVC resale market, DVC resale market, a key holder vacation company is the leader in the DVC resale industry with 13 former Disney vacation club guides and three former Disney vacation club quality assurance managers.

00:46:48
Speaker
This is a bit of an odd item,

Disney and Kraft Heinz Partnership

00:46:50
Speaker
Trevor. I... yeah I mean, it is it isn't. OK, so first of all, so there is a recent partnership that's happened between Disney Parks and Kraft Heinz Company, which Kraft Heinz is responsible for a lot of different things. You know obviously, you know, we were talking about mac and cheese, but, you know, you get your Heinz ketchup, Philadelphia cream cheese, Jell-O. Like it's it's a lot of like a lot of stuff. It's a lot of common things that you would see in your local grocery store and like condiments and stuff like that. And there. So I guess part of the um the agreement is there will be new menu offerings and dining experiences at hundreds of Disney dining locations from Main Street USA to Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. So I can't wait to have my my.
00:47:41
Speaker
KD in Galaxy's Edge. KD in Galaxy's Edge. Oh, my God. I'll just ask for the Wampa KD, I guess. don't know. I'm not going to lie. I thought that they were already serving. Because I remember there was a time long ago when I was a kid that I seemed to remember there being a partnership there with Kraft Mac and Cheese. Because I feel like I remember eating... Kraft mac and cheese at like Liberty Tree or something like mean you know you you could be correct and and the thing is is like I guess anybody listening to this is like oh gosh like you know know they're just gonna push like like you're just gonna get served like mac and cheese in the in the parks now and they're gonna charge you $15 for it no like no But they're going to use these things. And this is a typical thing that's been happening for as long as Disney has been around that, you know, they do partnerships. There used to be a McDonald's partnership.
00:48:38
Speaker
There's a Starbucks partnership. It's it's just what they do. the The funny thing is, is I feel like, you know, Heinz, Kraft Heinz is such a, like, household name. And I feel, and it's so common that, know,
00:48:53
Speaker
When you're going to Disney, you kind of want to feel like you're getting something special and above what then what common is. And I can see where people would perceive this as like, oh, like, yeah you know, you know they're they're just, you know, getting the cheapest thing.
00:49:09
Speaker
i I'm sure whatever they're going to do, it's, you know, it does open them up to being creative with these things. Yeah. The one thing I will say is that, you know, you know, if they're doing stuff with like mac and cheese and whatever, it does give better opportunity to try and emulate these recipes at home. So, I mean, it's true.
00:49:26
Speaker
Like there there is that side. And and I mean, like they they use a lot of stuff for a lot of stuff too. Sorry. Yeah. And like the ketchup thing, like I'll be honest, I don't pay that close attention to what kind of ketchup I'm being served at a restaurant. But I feel like Heinz is like,
00:49:44
Speaker
90% of the time, like the, the, the default. Yeah. Catch up. Right. like I'll tell you this too. I fill it up. Your cream cheese is, is the best cream cheese, right? Like, and I actually, it's funny. Cause I was, there was one time that I bought some cream cheese at the store that wasn't Philadelphia cream cheese. And it was like, it was like a different brand cause it was on sale. And I was like, all right, I'll just buy it, you know cream cheese, or cream cheese. Right. And I used it in something.
00:50:07
Speaker
And my wife goes, did you use different cream cheese this time? Cause it tastes different. And I was like, yeah. She's like, you didn't use the Philadelphia. And I'm like, no, I use this other, this other brand. And she's like, she's use Philadelphia. Like, yeah, I know. All right. Like, but it's, it's funny how that is, you know, you do kind of get brand loyal to some of those things and you just get, yeah i don't know if you just get used to them, but i also just do think it's the best. So, i mean, it's, yeah I will admit like we, we've done that too, where we've, uh,
00:50:36
Speaker
Like even going to the grocery store, like we do buy Heinz ketchup yeah and, and we've done the, like, Oh, you know, they have the no name brand, like, or yeah you know, like the cheap one next to it and it's cheaper. And we were like, Oh, you know, let's try and save somebody. Let's try it. And then you buy it and it's like,
00:50:53
Speaker
Oh, no. like it's just no so Something's off. Like, it's it's not bad, but it's just it's just different. It's not right. and I'm confused. The one part that confuses me is it says it says the parks will get new Heinz condiment stations and custom designed equipment.
00:51:10
Speaker
What does that mean? I assume that means like, you know, that the dispenser stations won't just be the generic. Like I i think about um or like how they used to have the condiment stations in ah ah Cosmic Rays, right?
00:51:27
Speaker
Yeah. Where, where you know... What's the custom designed equipment part though? Is there like a new machine that mixes ketchup and mayo automatically for me? I'm assuming it's just clearly like branded. Like it'll be like the ketchup dispenser, but it'll have like the logos and everything on it that it's very clearly like, or maybe it'll like, like every time you squeeze, it'll be like, thank you for using Heinz or something. i don't know.
00:51:49
Speaker
um maybe Maybe the custom equipment is like the like the um the the machines that do the dispensing thing will be custom to like the lands. like it'll fit into like Like Galaxy's Edge will have like some sort of you know special one that fits in with the Galaxy's Edge stuff. you know I wouldn't be surprised if they have it, but it's like written in the yeah in the script like or the the text that they use for the the Galaxy's Edge language. I can't remember what it's called now. oh Yeah, this was okay. I thought I dreamt this, Trevor. There was a thing a couple of years ago that they, that they, ah that Heinz had like teased. That's like a Coke freestyle machine for condiments.
00:52:33
Speaker
Like, you it's it's it's called the Heinz Refix Machine. I thought I made this up my head, and then I just Googled it, and there it is. i Like, where you can, like like, on demand, like, create, like, ah you know, different flavors, like ah honey mustard and jalapeno ketchup and chipotle aioli, it looks like it says, bacon ketchup. Yeah, like all right.
00:52:55
Speaker
Can those customers... Can those come to the to Disney? Because I want custom sauces. i mean, yeah, it seems... Okay, the only thing I'll say is I'll be mad if we get...
00:53:07
Speaker
condiment freestyle machines before we get actual Coke freestyle machines in the park. Because that doesn't feel right to me. No, they have the Coke freestyle machines. Not in the parks, though. In the lounges. They have it in the lounges.
00:53:21
Speaker
Okay, really? They do. No, no, no, no, no. You can't. you that That doesn't count. But I'm just saying they have it. It's not like it doesn't exist. But they're not, it's not with the same, um it's not with the same uh exposure that like sorry i went to have universal i saw what it's like when there's coat freestyle machines everywhere and it's amazing okay yeah that also just seems like a pain though too because people like stand there forever picking things out well no actually that they were pretty efficient in in uh because one you you have like you know with the with the mug refill uh or with the with the resort mugs
00:54:00
Speaker
you can't just like keep refilling it. It's like it it has a countdown. So like people, people will get their drink and get out of the way because they can't sit there and keep trying drinks. So you don't get like the hang up with it that way. Yeah. There is sometimes people that are like, places yeah, they but they Yeah.
00:54:16
Speaker
But even when there's like, like I saw every time I saw them, there was like, like, you know, you know, three or four of them lined up next to each other, which was more than enough space for, you know, everybody to get in, get their drink and get out kind of thing.
00:54:28
Speaker
And, but like just freestyle machines in general. And, and I didn't think at first when you were like saying for condiments, I was like, do I care that much? But then I realized that I'm the one in my family that's always like looking for different honey mustards or looking for like a new barbecue sauce. Yeah. i love get patent Yeah. Yeah. like Or like I actually was saying, or my wife called me out on this yesterday because I was, I was making something for lunch and I was like, i need to pick up some Buffalo sauce because I want something spicy. But I, I put honey mustard on my, on my, uh, lunch, uh,
00:55:06
Speaker
And I was eating it and i was like, I wish I had buffalo sauce. And she's like, well, we do have buffalo sauce. I'm like, no, we don't. And then she went into the the ah the pantry and she was like, here it is. And I'm like, oh, I bought buffalo sauce and I didn't even know about it it like Like I'm always buying like condiments and stuff that I do use them eventually, but I don't even know what all I have.
00:55:29
Speaker
And so, yeah. Okay. I'm, I'm convinced now. Yeah. You know, a, a Heinz, a Heinz freestyle or sorry they're calling it remix machine. he The Heinz remix, Google it. be stuck up Okay. i I can see the merits of this. When, when when I go to buy my, uh, my chicken tenders in, uh,
00:55:49
Speaker
In Magic Kingdom, kingdom yeah i can I can see myself using a Heinz remix machine. I would totally use this. 100%. 100% use this. But yeah, anyway. so so yeah Interesting partnership. Interesting. I'm guaranteed going into food and wine this year, there's going to be a bunch of Heinz or Kraft stuff that we're going to see.
00:56:11
Speaker
Oh, a ton. Oh, a ton. Yeah, 100%. There's going to be absolutely ton of it. Here's my prediction based on this. There's going to be a bunch of different takes on mac and cheese, and I'm going to roll my eyes at every single one of them.
00:56:23
Speaker
Because it'll be like the poutine. I'll be like, why are you doing this? but Yeah, I mean, that's what they do, though. they they Last year they had they had that mac and cheese booth, and they've had it for a couple of years, I feel like. But yeah, you're right.
00:56:37
Speaker
Yeah, they're going to throw some more cream cheese in this thing. Yeah. Cream cheese and mac and cheese is really good, actually. i Listen, cream cheese can be used for like so many things. I mean, cream cheese is crazy rev versatile. so I know you're not going to like to hear this, but I don't use Philadelphia cream cheese only because of the fact that I know. Well, but they don't do lactose-free cream cheese. And I found another brand that does do lactose-free. So I use that brand because...
00:57:01
Speaker
then I can eat cream cheese. That's allowed. It's allowed. Thank you. i'm I'm glad I got your of approval. You got my seal of approval on this. Okay. Yeah. um So

Disney Documentary Excitement

00:57:10
Speaker
ah coming, ah not to to move on from food. ah but Yeah. Other things that are happening in the parks.
00:57:17
Speaker
Yeah. So there is a new documentary coming out. ah This is a feature documentary directed by Leslie Iwerks, who is the guy, she's the granddaughter, the great granddaughter of, uh,
00:57:30
Speaker
of um of iWorks the granddaughter i don't remember yeah yeah i believe she's she's part of the iWorks family which i think her father just died recently actually because he was a big part of the well disney company too he ran like the machine shop and stuff like that so yeah he was uh he was actually a really big part of that so yeah her grandfather yes yes it's her granddaughter so ah So, yes, the granddaughter of Abai Warris, who is, you know, obviously the co-creator of Mickey Mouse and, you know, just Disney in general.
00:58:01
Speaker
ah She ah did the Imagineering story, you know, which was a series. This is going to be a documentary that's pretty much pretty similar, actually, just different ah called. ah um What is it called? World Builders. Disney world World Builders. Yeah. Disney World. It's hard for me not to just say Disney World and then builders as a separate word. Disney and then world builders, one word.
00:58:23
Speaker
ah And so ah it's about, you know, it's it seems seems similar to the imaginary story, but it's more about ah building like the different like lands and stuff like that and and how they they do that. Right.
00:58:38
Speaker
Well, I think that looking at the people they have on this list, it's it's not even just about building the lands. It's building. the the lore of yeah disney ips or so or so within within disney the various worlds that that you have so like you know you know avengers and sorry i guess universes so so the the different universes these are the people that are doing that world building which um i think i think it's very cool to highlight that stuff
00:59:10
Speaker
that, um like you know, some of the people they have on this list are like, you know like James Cameron of Avatar fame, Jon Favreau, like, you know, you know done done so much Marvel stuff.
00:59:21
Speaker
And also also all the Star Wars stuff recently to Mandalorian. And, you know, yeah, exactly. So so um so, yeah, this is going to be documenting their contributions to to the the larger Disney universe, which, um yeah, it's ah it's kind of telling that same story of like yeah or is that the behind the scenes from a different angle, I guess, is the best way I can think of it.
00:59:46
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. It's, listen, I will be watching this as soon as it comes out. ah This is on August 16th. There's going to be a special panel presentation about this at d twenty three But as soon as this comes out on Disney plus, I will be watching this for sure. This is right up my alley. This is, this is almost like i in a way feel like it's a, it's a sequel to Imagineering story, which I've been waiting for.
01:00:09
Speaker
And so that makes me, makes me really excited. Yeah. And one one of the things that um huge we should probably highlight in here is that it also says the film offers a behind the scenes look at what's coming next, including rare glimpses of new lands, areas and experiences currently taking shape. So, yeah, that's that's exciting. Yeah. Yeah. You want to get little tidbits? of I'm fully expecting some ah um Villain's Land.
01:00:36
Speaker
sneak peek stuff. Oh, yeah, for sure. I feel like, because again, because of the timing of when this is coming out in August and D23 and all that, I feel like that there's going to be a bunch of extended reveal of of villains land is specifically what i'm focusing on but villains land i think all of the stuff we talked about all the big stuff you know piston peak villains land monstropolis uh you know all that stuff we're gonna see some pieces of which is uh i i think really uh really exciting right but i i focus on villains land because that one is the biggest enigma the biggest unknown yeah yeah it's it's the one that we don't we know the least about so i'm i'm curious yeah Yeah, I mean, we know, like, a little bit about Piston Peak. We know little bit about Mountstropolis.
01:01:21
Speaker
You know, there's little tiny pieces we know of these things. so even on ah Tropical Americas. like Yeah. yeah we We have a lot more knowledge of those, whereas Villain's Land has been just like, it's going to be Villain's Land. Here's here's a concept of it, but it's like...
01:01:37
Speaker
Yeah, here's a bunch of dark stuff, and there's a coaster there probably. It's going to be moody. Yeah, like we don't know anything else other than that, right? So... The hard part is is that my head keeps going to Dark Universe. Yeah.
01:01:49
Speaker
Where it's like, I'm like, oh, it's going to be like Dark Universe. No, no, no, no, no. no no It's not like... yeah it' so Stop thinking that. But i I need some point of reference to stop thinking that. Well, yeah, because we don't know. We really don't know. So, yeah yeah, I will definitely be watching this when it comes out for sure. So and I don't know, Trevor, is that something you watch? I know you're spoiler averse, but you. I'm not opposed to it because it's not like these high concept things are not like it. I don't mind seeing like previews and.
01:02:18
Speaker
like Like the the the high level boilerplate stuff of like, here's a land that's coming. What I don't like seeing is the specific experiences you get on a ride. that That's what I'm adverse to is like yeah like, I guess a good example is like, like you know, Hagrid's coaster in Universal.
01:02:37
Speaker
You can see it like, you know, you you see all the videos of it where it's just like, oh, you you you see the bike going by on or, you you know, the the coaster going by and it's like the motorbikes and everything. Right. Yeah.
01:02:49
Speaker
But there's more to the ride. Right. And I'm not going to spoil it for anybody that hasn't been on it. But like after I rode the ride, I was like, oh, my gosh, I'm going to watch, you know, you know, ride throughs this because I now know what else is in the ride. But they do a really good job of hiding it from Like, they' it's not obvious at all. And that's what I like not spoiling for myself is, you know, getting on the ride and experiencing that, those elements. The the previewing a LAN thing, I'm like, okay, I'm going to, like, you can't avoid that. And and honestly, i don't mind I don't mind being enticed by that stuff.
01:03:24
Speaker
I just don't want the details. I get that. Yeah. I get that. I get that. all right. um So, yeah, so we'll check that out in August when it comes out ah for sure.
01:03:35
Speaker
But ah Trevor, it's it's Halloween now, ah pretty much. you know, i'm I'm only offended because you didn't find ah Christmas stuff. I feel like, you know, if we're in into July, you should be talking about Christmas by this point, not Halloween. Yeah, I feel like I

Halloween Merchandise and Food at Disney

01:03:50
Speaker
also need some, like, Halloween sound effects of some sort, you know? Yeah, I mean, um don't even know what we could, like, are you talking, like, just generic Halloween? Yeah, just like, just like ah you know, maybe some lightning crash in the background, and like ah like a wolf, like, ah you know? Woo!
01:04:06
Speaker
I was thinking those bad, um you know know, like the little ghost people put on their porches where you walk up and it it's like the distorted like, and but it's like. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Yeah. Like, yeah. just Just some background. Like, yeah. and And listen, for those that don't know, I mean, if you don't know this by now.
01:04:24
Speaker
uh, Halloween starts, I mean, what, next week? Yeah, say it's next week. Like, it's, it's like first week of August that, that it starts. Yeah. It basically is starting in the next two weeks here. So it's, um, yeah, I, you know, they, we're gonna, they, they gotta start talking about Halloween stuff. So, uh, we saw some of this, they gave us a preview of some of this holiday merch, like, The Vampire Stitch, which I'm going to be buying as soon as it comes out on the 27th, assuming that it's available on the Disney Store. i This is going to be purchased immediately because my my daughter will requires this in her life. so Because it's awesome.
01:05:03
Speaker
ah This is a really cool one. ah but let's see i mean i like how you skipped past the bubble wand. Yeah, because it's a bubble wand. Do you know any bubble wands I've been through in this house? Yeah. You know, I get kids enjoy bubble wands, but I don't know.
01:05:19
Speaker
Also, why are Mickey's feet so long in this? Can we talk about that? Well, I think it's supposed to be because it's like vampire Mickey. I get it. But I think he's supposed to have like fancy shoes on It's got goopy feet.
01:05:32
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Goofy size feet. Now that you pointed out that the dimensions of Mickey are very weird on that. bubble wand Yeah. It is is a little odd. did The bubbles come out of his head because that's also weird. ah But where where else are they coming out of, though? I i agree. I they have to. Right. ah i do I will say these Chip and Dale.
01:05:56
Speaker
Uropocha-chan plushes, which are... They're in Disney Store Japan. They are so incredibly cute. They are very cute. I agree. I hate that these things are international. but like You can't get them out here. You can. You can. Yeah.
01:06:11
Speaker
Well, I mean, well, I can, but it's like... Disney Store already expensive, and then getting them internationally is even more expensive. So, it's not... But I thought they were bringing it here. I thought that was what they were doing. Well, to America, but we, but. Oh, that's a you. to yeah Yeah. We don't have an, we don't have a Canadian Disney store front. It's, it all goes through the America site, which we end up paying extra for it, which sucks. yeah And I wish that they would like not do that. so yeah.
01:06:42
Speaker
Yeah, listen, the Stitch Plus is plush is adorable. The Winnie the Pooh Halloween countdown calendar, which is a big Winnie the Pooh plush. with you know yeah And ifve you've seen these countdown calendars before. you know although it only pockets, though. It's countdown.
01:07:00
Speaker
okay weird. So yeah, get it. yeah Yeah, I get it. But interesting choice. The Donald shirt is kind of weird, actually. The colors on it are odd. that Yeah, his hat looks his hat looks like cotton candy. I'm not cotton candy. I'm candy corn.
01:07:18
Speaker
Yeah, okay. i I was thinking it was giving me more like Alice in Wonderland, like the checkerboard. Yeah, can see that. But yeah, yeah the the color scheme, you're right. It's it's very like um candy corn.
01:07:30
Speaker
But It's a weird color palette because, yeah like even Donald's shirt is orange. Like, and it feels unnecessary. Did you candy corn? you You candy corn? I hate it. Yeah, I thought so. We talked about this before. I don't like candy corn at all. That's a love or hate it kind of kind of candy. It's like you either really love that or you hate it. I actually am probably towards, I probably lean towards hating it, but I'll eat it, you know, like ah just to remind myself that I hate it.
01:08:00
Speaker
You know what i mean? eight I tried it at multiple points when I was growing up. And every time it was like, you know, like, and and I just decided, like, this is not for me. Like, I'll I will give away my candy corn and I like I'll trade people for rockets if for candy corn, because like or because I guess they're called smarties. Yes. you are yes yeah we like all this gaization yeah Yeah. But like i'll I'll trade like like rockets are also like.
01:08:26
Speaker
They're a candy you get way too much of, but I would always trade my candy corn to people for rockets because i will I'll take rockets over candy corn. I don't do Smarties. Smarties are not something I like. eric but you see can' or yeah If we got Canadian Smarties, though, those those were premium candy. like yeah that's i had those because you sent them to me and they were Yeah. So there's some there's some other Halloween shirts in here. but I think we saw these previously and talked about them. They spirit jersey and such.
01:08:54
Speaker
Okay. And then there's that ah that family PJ set. We definitely saw that in the preview. Yeah. ah But then there's ah Halloween ah Crocs, which are a lot. um the the The Mickey pumpkins on the front are really...
01:09:12
Speaker
They light up. They light Oh, do they? Okay, well, that changes it. that's that That makes it cool. Yeah. I mean, I'm not a Crocs fan. My daughter likes Crocs and my wife likes Crocs. I'm not a Crocs fan.
01:09:23
Speaker
um But, you know, these are look pretty cool if you're, you know, into that sort of thing, I guess. Right? I just, I don't find them, like, I wear... I use Crocs for, like, gardening, but yeah but I don't wear them anywhere else because I don't find them that comfortable. Yeah. I've never understood because every time I've seen them or, like, they tried them on, I'm like, these are not comfortable. Why do people say these are comfortable?
01:09:47
Speaker
I don't i if you want if you want to if you if you're doing the the Mickey Halloween thing, you know, you can definitely accessorize with a pair of light-up Crocs.
01:09:57
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah.
01:10:00
Speaker
Then there's for some reason, Disney is doing like all these hockey jerseys recently. I don't is that like a trend? don't know. But they've just been doing hockey jerseys, which is fine. I feel like they're trying to hit a demographic. There must be a demographic for it of people that want Maybe it's an internet thing. We don't know. Or just want Disney or not like I feel like maybe there's just like a trend of like jerseys where Yeah.
01:10:24
Speaker
Like you can put you can put anything on a jersey, really. It doesn't have to be just sports. Right. And I feel like Disney's capitalizing on that. So, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. OK. Let's see what else we got here. There's some socks. Why?
01:10:36
Speaker
ah There's there's a magic band. Plus, I like the magic band. The magic band's cool. I like it. Yeah. It's got the Mickey pumpkin on it. It's got some candy around it. It's got some bats on it.
01:10:48
Speaker
I it. It's a good Halloween ah magic band. It is. Yeah. yeah As far as limited edition themed magic bands go, I like it. It's it's not bad. There's a wristlet set.
01:10:59
Speaker
Okay. Whatever. I don't know what that means. yeah Doesn't really do much for me here. There's, of course, a Mickey pumpkin ah popcorn bucket.
01:11:10
Speaker
um Yeah, I mean, it's I feel like it's pretty pretty much the deal. you know It's pretty basic for popcorn buckets. i mean These mugs are nice. I like the retro look they're going for this year. They're doing a like a real retro kind of... Yeah. yeah the the only The only thing I don't like about it is they're leaning too heavy into the candy corn...
01:11:31
Speaker
theme or it's Sorry, it's not just candy corn. It's it's the orange pumpkin. Yeah. But they' yeah it's too much orange, I guess, is is what I'm seeing. Yeah. Then there's a Mickey Mouse Jack-o-lantern stoneware ah candy bowl. When I first saw this, I almost thought it was an ornament. But now that I'm looking at it.
01:11:49
Speaker
Yeah. How do you open it? I actually think it's I think this is an optical illusion, Trevor. I think this is a bowl. i i like Oh, yeah. You're looking down. You're looking down at a bowl. Oh, OK. All right. Oh, yeah, you're right. That's that is breaking my brain a little bit. I think that's what it how it is, but I can't. It's hard to tell. i get it. OK, so so this is like an inverse image.
01:12:12
Speaker
Yeah, it's like the portraits ah in in the Haunted Mansion. It's the the bus. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's not Yeah, the but the bus. That's what I meant. Sorry. yeah The bus in the library there that that when you're that are watching you, it's that. Yeah, it's an optical illusion, I think. Right.
01:12:27
Speaker
i could be wrong. Maybe there's it's somewhere. But it's a candy dish. How could it not be? Yeah, because otherwise, like it just it looks like it. Like you said it looks like an ornament or like a stand up. Oh, my gosh. Trevor, look, look, at look at it really closely. You can see the photographer in the reflection. Yeah.
01:12:45
Speaker
but but This is a little sloppy by Disney right here. You can see in the reflection the photographer doing all sorts of weird positions to get with him. Yeah, with his arms over his head and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's actually really funny. I'm shocked they didn't edit that out.
01:13:02
Speaker
ah You can actually even see it in the main bowl piece right by its mouth. You can see the person's body holding their arms up. Yeah. Wow. Come on, Disney. You're better than that. yeah and you can see that you can see the room.
01:13:13
Speaker
Yeah, you can see the room they're in. Yeah, you can see the cubicle and the light fixture. You can see the lights. There's a backdrop and yeah. Yeah, this is what's throwing it off because you can see all of that in the picture. It's creating depth to it that... Yes. But it's inverse, so it's...
01:13:30
Speaker
that's That's hilarious. Yeah, look closely at this picture when I post it because you can see everything going on in that room, which is so funny. Disney's giving up behind the scenes without realizing it. That's, yeah, how did nobody notice that? ah Candy bowl incident of 2026. Yeah, good thing I'm here. i For the candy bowl people. I do. i have to say, I like this fleece throw, Trevor, because i it's got the the retro kind of logo that they're using. It's pretty cool, actually. I like it.
01:14:03
Speaker
It looks comfy, too. It does. It yeah looks like a good material for a blanket. But I already have like about a thousand blankets in my house. I don't need it. There's. Yeah. i don't know. we we We have tons of blankets, too, but there seems to always be room for more.
01:14:17
Speaker
Yeah, agreed. yeah ah There's a laid-up wreath that they've I feel like they've had this for years. And then there's a monorail with, like, ah you know, Mickey headband on it with the the pumpkins. But that's all we got for now for that, right? And, you know, you don' definitely thematically, you know you know, good Like you said, it's good that they're leaning into the retro stuff. And I get, you know, they kind of picked a palette of, like, orange and yellow this year.
01:14:46
Speaker
um i feel like in the past they've always, like, it's so it's been a lot of orange and purple. Yeah. And I think the lack of purple is just making me, like... It's making me feel like they're missing something.
01:14:59
Speaker
So, but I'm not like, I'm not trying to, I don't want to say that that like Disney messed it up or anything. It just, it doesn't feel right to me is all it is. I understand. i understand that. Yeah.
01:15:12
Speaker
Yeah. All right. Yeah. Cool. Well, there's one other thing, Trevor. Yeah.
01:15:23
Speaker
Food time. Food time. Food time. Food time. Food time. Food time. Food time. Food time. Food time.
01:15:46
Speaker
Food and wine. We have the time. Because it's food time, food time.
01:16:05
Speaker
this is This is a quick food time. Yeah, this is going to be a mini food time. ah You know, this is not not going to do a full episode on this, but we'll we'll talk about some of the ah the food coming to the party.
01:16:16
Speaker
ah and Because, again, this is going to be available in two weeks here. so And some of this will be exclusive. Some of it won't be. But, again, we are going to go only going to go over the things that are new, right? so Yeah. So over at Casey's Corner, Trevor You want start there?
01:16:33
Speaker
I'm trying to find where it labels what's new and what's not. There's a little circle in the corner that says new. I was trying to do the same thing. They're only they're doing it in the picture now. They changed the format of these. Yeah. Oh, yeah. OK. Yeah. So the only new thing at Casey's Corner is the Headless Horseman treat.
01:16:49
Speaker
Okay. Which is a pumpkin pie tart topped with whipped cheesecake, caramel spiced panna cotta, candied pecans, and marshmallow buttercream flames.
01:17:00
Speaker
which That's pretty cool. I like this. i like the I like the pumpkin on top. I like that it's i like it's a scary pumpkin. It is. feel like they don't do enough of the... Like, I know it's, you know, obviously not so scary Halloween party and everything, but a little more love for like that headless horseman pumpkin, i feel could be there.
01:17:20
Speaker
um And yeah, this is great. Like, I i really like how how they did this. Agreed. ah You know, I'm not a pumpkin pie, a pumpkin fan, but, ah you know, this this looks cool. I think it's a good effort for sure.
01:17:33
Speaker
ah i will. So just moving on to Main Street Bakery here, though, nothing new there. Same as what they've had, which is a Mickey cinnamon roll and a cheesecake. So nothing, nothing new there.
01:17:45
Speaker
Also at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, ah Pumpkin Sunday, the same they had last year. So that's nothing new there. um good Plaza Restaurant has... um that They got some good selections. So so the the new the new ones include the Devilish Crispy Chicken Sandwich.
01:18:04
Speaker
which is a a ghoulish spiced mayonnaise, red cabbage, and Fresno peppers on a black Kaiser roll served with French fries. That Kaiser roll looks... It looks awesome. It looks so good. It And you know what it is, is that...
01:18:19
Speaker
it's It's a very dark color, but they're not using like that black color that they've used in the past. So it's more of a dark brown than it is. Yeah. Yeah. It's giving that aesthetic of like, you know, this looks evil. It's not not in a bad way. like it's I don't i don't know how to describe it, but yeah, like a spicy chicken sandwich. ah always Always welcome. Always welcome. yeah and And I do have to put a shout out to the Skull meat loaf i love yeah the returning scal Meatloaf. Skull Meatloaf. The aesthetic of that is just top tier. It's excellent. Yes. Yeah. You know, I feel like some like they just make this by somebody's like forming it with their hands and they just stick their two hands in for, you know, like to their two fingers in. The eyes. Yeah, just they make eyes with their two fingers. Hopefully gloved, i assume. but I assume they have a mold for this and they're cooking the meatloaf in the mold. but But that's not what I'm imagining in my head. I'm just imagining some intern in the back who's going, yeah yeah did you poke all the eyes in the skull meatloaf? Oh, yeah, I'll get on that. Yeah.
01:19:26
Speaker
um okay they I have to know, how do you feel about pecan? I know it's cheesecake, but how you feel about pecans in your dessert? I'm not a huge pecan fan. not okay I don't mind cheesecake, though. I i don't reach for cheesecake like normally, but like if it's a kind of cheesecake that sounds really good, i but I would have it. And truthfully, everything sounds good in this to me, except for the pecans. Right. But yeah. But it is a phantom pecan caramel cheesecake, which I don't know what makes it phantom. I don't either. I was wondering the same thing. But yeah.
01:19:59
Speaker
Which is, it's layers of New York and caramel cheesecake with dolce de leche, chocolate ganache, and pecans on at a chocolate crust. I also will say pecans and pecans. I don't have a particular way to say it consistently, and I will do it both ways. Either way gets across the point of what you're trying to say. is so Agreed. It's fine. Yeah.
01:20:19
Speaker
So, yeah. Yeah. Moving down. Yeah. Antigravities has the usual stuff. Lunching pad. Hello, lunching pad. You've gotten my attention with a cake pop.
01:20:30
Speaker
Wow. that's and That's hard to do because it's cake yeah and it's a cake pop, right? So so this Hades cake pop that's his is very cool. a Mexican hot chocolate cake with popping candies dipped in chocolate with blue marshmallow fire. Yeah.
01:20:46
Speaker
That's pretty cool. It looks so neat. Like it's with the little skull on it. And yeah, it's Mexican. I don't think too. That's not. Yeah. I normally don't care about cake pops, but like this is eye catching enough that I would be like, Oh, hello. Like it's a party exclusive. Yeah. It feels a little weird to have. This feels like a frontier land thing, not a lunching pad thing in tomorrow land, but that's either hand or there.
01:21:13
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like they're just trying to spread stuff out around the park. I get it. Yeah. I mean, and Hades, like, the the interesting thing is, like, you know, Hades doesn't fit anywhere, really. Like, are they yeah he can be put anywhere in the parks because there is no, like, designated area that there should be Hercules stuff, right? That's true. I mean, really, i I feel like maybe this is ah this is a preview towards you know, villains stuff, right? it's not even though, like, it's not Hades, like, from, like like, Hercules, though, because there's a skull on it, right? I mean, it's, i don't know. it's It's the blue hair, like, like that. Yeah, it's the blue hair. It's just the the skull piece is what's throwing me off, I guess.
01:21:56
Speaker
ah Did he have skull motifs on any of his stuff? Not really. don't think. have to search for Hades, Hercules, because I've been playing. Oh, no, he's got a skull on his, on his robe.
01:22:06
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. Okay. yeah All right. All right. Fair. right. I have to search specifically for Hades Hercules because I've been playing the game Hades 2. And all of my stuff is like that I've been searching for lately has been around Hades 2. So, yeah.
01:22:19
Speaker
Well, let's make our way to Cosmic Rays, though. So Cosmic Rays has ah what they're calling the Fangtastic Garlic Butter Burger, which... oddly ah feels like well what you know you're you're it's called fangtastic but it's also got garlic on it it feels just like it contradictory you know it's not fangtastic if a vampire can't eat it because there's garlic in it but that's either here or there but it but it's anti-vampire which makes it fantastic for vampire hunters That's true. But it's Angus beef with Borson and Brie fondue, crispy onions, and garlic pickles on a toasted black bun. It's that same black bun yeah from the plaza, which is fine. i don't care. It's good, yeah. This is a really interesting-looking, very interesting-looking sandwich.
01:23:01
Speaker
The Borson and Brie fondue is really doing a lot of work here, I feel. because There's a lot of it, too. Yeah. like it It looks like there's a lot, and and i I almost, the crazy thing is I actually feel like I would want that on the spicy chicken burger instead of on a beef burger. Right? like Interesting. Yeah.
01:23:23
Speaker
Like it it it feels like it might be a little bit misplaced or like maybe I'll buy both burgers and make a Frankenberger. Switch them up. Like you did do a chicken and burger. Make make a Frankenberger, right? Just, you know, put it all together and.
01:23:36
Speaker
Yeah, right that's that's the only thing new, and that's a party exclusive, by the way. That's the only thing new at Cosmic Rays. They do have sweet and spicy chicken strips and a mini witch hat and an oogie-boogie slushie, but they've had those. that's Those are not new.
01:23:49
Speaker
Cheshire Cafe, which is that little stand that's right next to where the tea party is, right? where that i feel like I feel like the Cheshire Cafe doesn't get enough love. It doesn't. It has those ah those tail things or whatever they are. The cat tails. Yes. Those are so good. If you never have one of those they're delicious. Yeah. um But they have the Queen of Hearts Tart, and this is ah available at all times, so I could actually get this if I wanted to. But it's a tart with sour cherry pie filling, and it has the Queen of Hearts on top of it. So it's fairly straightforward dessert here, but.
01:24:19
Speaker
I was with it until the cherry pie filling. Really? i't i don't i don't do cherry pie. Like that's. not true If it was like anything else, but cherry, I would be interested.
01:24:31
Speaker
Yeah. yeah That's that' fine. kind of I get that. This is also going to be available by the way, over at storybook treats along with the returning, the returning Ursula cone, which I believe was a big, a lot of people were really into it.
01:24:45
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it was it it was a big hit because his it's ah like a black cone and has purple ice cream and has like this cool like ah kind of flourish of cotton candy that's like her hair.
01:24:57
Speaker
It's pretty cool. Yeah. It's a really neat looking one. Now, friars going to Fryer's Nook, there's not there's nothing new there. Yeah, nothing new. mean, and just just, you know, returning things. Bolo Bones is back. Jalapeno.
01:25:10
Speaker
Hunting Jalapeno Tots. The Not-So-Poisoned Apple Donuts. And the Buffalo Chicken Hand Pie. I could go for a Buffalo chicken Hand pie I would go for Buffalo chicken and I'm a, I love Buffalo. Um, uh, but now going on to be our guest. So be our guest actually has a couple of, uh, action here. yeah Yeah. Which is, so i can't remember the last time that I saw be our guest stuff on these rundowns. Didn't they do some stuff for like Christmas last year that we talked about? Yeah.
01:25:36
Speaker
Yeah. Your guess has gotten so expensive that it's like i it's basically a signature restaurant at this point. And I'm just like, no I'm good. I mean, well looking at this first item, that it's a beef short rib, which is a so slow cooked in a cabernet sauvignon with figs, butternut squash puree and roasted fall vegetables. That is a fancy dish. They should serve... I hope they serve it that way, too, where they... Where they're pulling the glass up and the smoke yeah comes out. Yeah. Yeah, because, like, the way they're showing it in the picture, it looks like somebody has a glass filled with smoke over the plate and then pulls it up when you... Like, they should serve it that way if they're not going to. So you get let that delicious, like, smoked smell coming in before you even eat it. Yeah. Yeah, that that is a fancy dish. That is a fancy dish. And and then...
01:26:22
Speaker
um and It's interesting. I forgot that they serve liquor Be Our Guest. Yes. But there is an apple cider margarita, which is Terra Mana Blanco tequila, Grand Marnier, and apple cider.
01:26:37
Speaker
i love apple cider. This actually looks really good. I would i would drink this. Yeah. All right. Yeah. And I'm not a big, you know, I'm not a big drinker, but I like a margarita here and there. Yeah. ah By the way, these are, it does not say this is available to all party guests starting at 4 p.m. Okay. So it's only during the party that this, this, that's, that's weird.
01:26:57
Speaker
Having to make a reservation to be our guest jury or I guess. Okay. If it's at 4 p.m. So it's like it's like dinner before the party starts. Yeah. So. Okay. yeah Yeah. Okay. I could see that you like plan for dinner and then and then go into the party. Okay. Yeah. That's fair. Yeah. You'd have to do it before the party or else you're wasting time. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. yeah I wouldn't want to do this like right as the party was starting or anything. Yeah.
01:27:19
Speaker
And then you have Cinderella's Royal Table is doing the same thing, but they have a chicken cauldron, which is black truffle sauce, root vegetables, and pumpkin, a potato pumpkin puree also looks very fancy.
01:27:31
Speaker
And they have a bunch of returning stuff from last year, like the supernatural shrimp, which has very much, very much has Beetlejuice vibes. um And, and that creepy cheesecake that looks like, yeah. Yeah. We talked about the creepy cheesecake last year, and I remember like this is another one of these. like It looks like it's rotting because of the green on it, and my brain doesn't want me to eat it, but I'm sure it's delicious. I'm sure it is. Yeah, it's just one of those things where you have to get over that. that yeah We have a couple of those things over, actually, at ah Pinocchio Village House. and Yeah. this ah Of those things that well, really just one thing that kind of looks a little gross, but
01:28:08
Speaker
There's a they're doing it they have a Cruella cookie sandwich. And this is these are also party exclusive. It's a chocolate chocolate filled. I'm sorry. Chocolate cookies filled with raspberry ganache dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles.
01:28:21
Speaker
It looks to the top of it basically just has like the Dalmatian print thing going on. It's like Cruella's. Yeah. Coat kind of thing. Yeah. Yeah. yeah it's It's cool looking. I have to say.
01:28:33
Speaker
Yeah. Flavor wise. Me. Whatevs. Yeah. It doesn't. It's that is entirely an aesthetics thing. It doesn't look like it's doing much beyond that. Yeah, I want to talk you about this chicken sandwich, though, because this chicken sandwich looks delicious. What is this?
01:28:47
Speaker
Fra Diavolo chicken sandwich? Yeah. Yeah. I've never had... I don't know what Fra Diavolo sauce is. I have no idea what that is either. But it looks... If it's that red sauce, it looks very spicy. You think so? really yeah Yeah, okay. That kind of red... Either it's a marinara or it's just like peppers. I don't know what's on top of that bun, though. It looks like some sort of, like, garlicky, you know... I think it's a but pesto. Yeah. There's basil pesto thing going on there. That looks delicious. That looks a little too good for Pinocchio Village House. True.
01:29:24
Speaker
I mean, I guess we're used to, like, Village House being just flatbreads. Flatbreads, yeah. Which they're fine, you know. But, you know, maybe they're trying to change up the menu. And, you know, you know obviously this is only available during Not So Scary Halloween Party, but...
01:29:38
Speaker
Um, I'm curious, but you said, yeah you know, the pesto and, and everything looks delicious. Yeah. I I'm surprised that they, or I guess it's a ciabatta bun instead of the, uh, uh, Kaiser bun. But yeah, I feel like they could have done it on that, that black Kaiser bun that the other ones were done on. They could have. Yeah. I do love ciabatta though. I do love a ciabatta and I love pesto. So that's, yeah, I'm all, I'm all for that. Yeah. Uh, so let's see. Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Uh, okay. Here we are. Sleepy Hollow is our next stop. So, yes so, okay. We got dune buggy dumplings. Ooh.
01:30:14
Speaker
I like. o All right. I, I am in on this. Uh, chicken dumplings with red miso, gochujang sauce, furikake and chili threads. That is, that's pretty cool.
01:30:25
Speaker
It's going to be hot, but it's going to be a good hot. That looks good. That looks really good. Yeah. Yeah. i I'll be honest, I did not think I would be seeing Gochujang anything in Disney parks, but... They've seen it a lot. They've been doing it a lot. i I haven't... Well, I guess maybe haven't been paying close enough attention. I haven't seen a lot of it, I guess. yeah But... By the way... I haven't experienced it. Sleepy Hollow is is killing it right here. ah this is that This is all party exclusive, by the way, because they also have ah the Graveyard Hot Chicken and Waffle, which is Nashville Hot Chicken ship Strips Blue Cornmeal Waffle and Pickle Ranch, which, I mean, the the waffle looks really cool.
01:31:05
Speaker
the The hard part is you have to choose between the dumplings and the waffle. I don't think you have to choose. You can have both. You can just share, you know. I mean, that's that gets real spicy real quick. but That's actually true. That's a lot of spice. Between the dumplings and, you know, the Nashville hot chicken, like, yeah your mouth's going to be on fire. But maybe then the solution to that is you get yourself a hatbox ghost pop.
01:31:28
Speaker
Yeah, that's another cool thing. because that's Because that's the next new thing at at Sleepy Hollow. is ah And it's chocolate crumbs layered with a chocolate mousse and dulce de leche topped with blue crispy pearls and a chocolate piece. Which, you know, it's not it's not the most complex thing, but it looks cool.
01:31:46
Speaker
like it has Yeah, I just want to walk up to Sleepy Hollow and just be like, give me one of everything. Can I have each of these things, please? Yes, please. One of one of each. they Can I have them in this order as well? Well, it is kind of appetizer entree. yeah guess You just get them all on a tray anyway and you just go find a table. exactly.
01:32:07
Speaker
I'm just going to eat these in the corner and sweat myself. I'm just going to eat like an animal in the corner. yeah But yeah, no, this hatbox ghost pop looks pretty good. i would i would yeah i would I would do that. Oh, look at Pecos build. Pecos build stepping up. yep Yeah, look at this. Okay, go ahead. will you want First yeah cowboy fries. Oh, wow. Sweet potato fries topped with barbecue burnt ends, chipotle queso, pico de gallo, and crispy jalapenos. Wow. Okay. I'm glad that they didn't try and sell this as a poutine.
01:32:40
Speaker
No, they did not. See, they did they called them cowboy fries. Look at that. they're cowboy fries. and And rightfully so, like, ooh, with the burnt ends and everything. Yeah. Yeah. There's all sorts of deliciousness going on there. I would get this. Lots good heat going on.
01:32:52
Speaker
Yeah. This side of the park, like going from like Sleepy Hollow towards Pecos Bills and all that, I feel like it's like the hotter stuff. Like all the stuff on like the Fantasyland, the Tomorrowland side is like the nice like, oh, this is okay. It's fun. The real fire is over towards Frontierland and Adventureland. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Because also have a frightful black bean burger, which is topped with jalapeno ranch slaw and jalapeno chips with French fries. And this, I mean, there's something going on. It says jalapeno ranch slaw. So I guess it's just a really, there's a lot of sauce in that slaw because it's ripping out. Yeah, that is saucy. And they don't even mention the fact that the bun is purple. Yeah. Yeah.
01:33:40
Speaker
but Like, what is that that's making it purple? I don't know. It's a purple, but it's really cool looking. I mean, honestly. And this one is actually plant-based, too. it is, yes. I actually highlight that, which, um yeah, the this is on the same level as the, the you know, the other...
01:33:58
Speaker
burgers we were looking at where like it's just so eye catching. But I also like the fact whatever it is, I'm guessing it's like they're using like a a sweet potato or something to to get it that kind of purple. It doesn't look like it looks you can tell the difference between like a natural purple versus like food dye purple. Yeah. And coloring like this. This doesn't feel like it's a food coloring. Yeah. Right. i agree. ah Yeah. It looks like a natural purple. Yeah.
01:34:24
Speaker
Yeah. Interesting. ah The other thing they got going on here, too, they have a new dessert, too, a Skullicious cake. no Just a chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and peanut butter buttercream with chocolate popping candies and a chocolate cookie crust. a lot of chocolate going on here. We haven't seen a lot of peanut butter going on, though. haven't. I noticed that like noticed that last year, too, that there wasn't a lot of peanut butter going on.
01:34:47
Speaker
I feel like, i'm and I'm pretty sure we talked about this, I feel like like peanut butter is a hard one because it is an allergy-dependent thing. But I do appreciate a little bit of peanut butter where they can slide it in. Yeah.
01:34:59
Speaker
This one looks pretty cool, too. does. The skull on it is very cool. ah You know, it's it's a neat-looking dish. And this is another party exclusive, too, by the way. it It reminds me, and I know you probably haven't played Legend of Zelda, but... um From Legend Zelda Ocarina of Time, there's something called Skulltulas, which are these spiders that their back looks like a skull and the skull kind of looks like that. any Legend of Zelda fans out there, you'll you'll know what I'm talking about. Yeah, so that's it. That's all the new items. that that's That's a pretty good selection, I have to admit. I agree. i think those are some really good items this year. I think there's really ah some really interesting dishes.
01:35:39
Speaker
Yeah. like like this is This is what I've been talking about for a while. that like I know it's still not quite to the same level as the international parks. like The international parks go like they go hard on yeah the aesthetic stuff and and whatnot, but this is they're bringing some very cool stuff to this, and it's also not just like aesthetically pleasing, but...
01:36:01
Speaker
Flavor-wise, they're trying some stuff, and I appreciate that. like Yeah. Especially, like, at the parties, too, right? Like, i i feel like... yeah You know,
