Episode 370: Monstropolis Food, Obligatory Holiday Overlay & Disney Believe

Welcome Home: A Disney Parks & DVC Podcast

Transcript

Speaker: This is Skipper Albert A. Wall, the voice of the jungle, broadcasting on the DVC to all points unknown. If you're within the sound of my voice, you're listening to Welcome Home Podcast on the DVC.

Speaker: Hello and welcome home. This episode of Welcome Home is brought to you by DVC Resale Market. Thank you for joining us on episode 370 of Welcome Home, a Disney Parks and Vacation Club podcast. I'm Tom, here with Trevor. How's it going, Trevor? Hey, pretty good. guess just start by wishing a happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian listeners out there. because Yeah, I was going to ask you how your Thanksgiving was.

Speaker: Oh, yeah, it was it was good. we We did ours um on Saturday. So we we usually we try and do it early in the weekend because like even though Monday is technically the holiday... I was going to it's technically Monday, right?

Speaker: Yeah, it is. But um but yeah, we we like to do it on the Saturday because it gives us a chance... like you know, we, we host for our family. So it's, you know, it gives us a chance to do it all and have everybody over and then recoup from it for a couple of days. Need a recoup period. Yeah. Yeah. Which, which that's why we're actually, we usually yeah record on Saturdays and we're doing this episode on Sunday because I asked if we could push it a day for that reason. But yeah, we're good. It was, ah everyone was happy. They, ah ah they enjoyed everything, um ate tons of food and,

Speaker: And yeah, we were, we were in bed early last night, so which is good. I mean, that's a good sign, right? You know, you know, we, we put we put in a bunch of work and everybody left happy. So yeah, but that's all ask for. That's matters. Yeah. It's, it's always hard hosting. Cause it's like, you just, you get your, exhaust it's exhausting. It's exhausting making all the food for everybody and just being, as my wife says, on at all times, you know, like, yeah, Yeah, you you don't realize, like I actually pointed this out to my wife, was that like we we started, or i mean, we started prep like actually like the the day before. But then like once you get going, like making the turkey and like doing everything, it's like there's a lot of energy spent at the beginning of the day. And then like once the turkey's in and stuff, it's like you you get some downtime where, you know, you can just kind of sit and relax and everything.

Speaker: But then, yeah, like you said, once everyone gets there, it's like, yeah, you're you're on because you're hosting. Right. Like, you don't want to be like, you know, hey, welcome to my house, whatever. Like, it's. Yeah. see So, yeah, it's a lot of family. It's still like, you feel like you need to like really.

Speaker: i don't want to say like put on the show, but you know what I mean? You have to like. Yeah. Well, it's it's a for me, I guess, like like when I'm hosting Thanksgiving, it's I'm. I'm making sure I'm attentive if anybody needs anything.

Speaker: Right. yeah Yeah. Which is and, you know, it's not like my family is my family is not demanding like that or anything, but it's like, you know, making sure that, you know, ah you know, people have, you know, drinks, making sure that people will have entertainment, you know you know, having conversations with people, all that kind of stuff, which for me, yeah you know, I think I feel like the sentiment might be the same with your wife is that I'm i'm a more introverted person. So yes, maintaining, yeah, maintaining conversations is, it's not that I don't like doing them, but it it does take energy, right? And it does it's, it's like after, after so much of it, it's like, you just, you need time to recharge, which yeah, unfortunately in a situation like that, you can't like, it's, you know, you have to just kind of push yourself until everybody leaves and then,

Speaker: My wife and I last night, it was like we everybody left. We kind of cleaned up the kitchen and then we went to bed and, you know, we we woke up, I think, at like... nine o'clock this morning which we wish we we normally don't sleep that late like it we're we we actually slept in because we were both tired so yeah i i i yeah know what you mean i it's funny because i most people that talk to me on a frequent basis think that i am an an extrovert right and and it's it's i'm really not like Like, I can fake it pretty well. But, you know, I am fairly introverted in general. But, yeah, it is hard, though, too, especially when people think that you're an extrovert. there You know, people are just like, oh, well, you know, it's like if i don't talk if I don't talk for a little while, everybody's like, you OK? What's wrong? It's like, no, just want to be quiet. I don't really want to. I'm fine. Just leave me in the corner. I'm fine. Just leave me here. I'm good. So, you know, listen, Trevor, it has been a really strange week for us. I feel like. It has. Yeah, I guess i guess we should talk about this because yeah we we we led on to this a couple of weeks ago that you know, we had this interview coming and the interview released this week and it's been getting a lot of momentum, which is. Yeah.

Speaker: Pretty amazing. It kind of went. I don't know if you I mean, I guess you call it I would call it Disney viral, maybe. So a lot what happens, it's it's kind of funny with when these things happen, because, you know, they have all these Disney blogs. Right. And one Disney blog will pick up something and then like the rest of them will follow. Right. Right.

Speaker: And so we had posted the interview on Monday. And, um you know, I had said to Trevor, this is actually kind of funny because I said Trevor, I was like, I feel like if there's one thing the blogs are going to pick up on, it's that Joe Rohde in our interview said that they're going to replace the Yeti, not fix it. Right. And yeah at the time that we were doing the interview, was...

Speaker: wasn't a shocking revelation to me you know like it just was like oh okay yeah well it like it i mean it it was an extrapolation from what he talked about in the book and now that was the conversation legitimately is like we were yeah talking about the book and like you know oh you know the yeti will be replaced right and Yeah.

Speaker: So yeah obviously, yeah there's there's There's definitely a big difference between fix and replace, though, right? and that's There is, yeah. And that's and and he would went out of his way to say, to be clear, it will be replaced. like he And we didn't go to him into that or anything. He just said that, right? And so sure enough, I don't know what blog picked it up first. The first indication we saw of it, I think, was BlogMickey, right?

Speaker: I think it was the first one we saw. Yeah, think was BlogMickey, yeah. Yeah. And then all of a sudden it was everywhere. And next thing you know, it's on Collider. And I was I'm still shocked by that, which is a non Disney publication does like movie reviews and games and stuff like that. I was like, what?

Speaker: I was like, wait, what? What's happening here? Like it's it just it kind of just went all over the place. And, you know, and so. um You know, anybody who's new listening to us, ah you know, because you saw this and and found out about us, so it's great. ah Glad to to have you here. It's, ah you know, it's it's really cool. But ah we just have been the response. And I also, Trevor, and ah in in some ways, and I think I talked to you about, you know, we...

Speaker: we don't really like like clickbait stuff, you know, like we don't like that kind of stuff. And we went out of our way when we interviewed Joe to not ask him questions that were going to be like, that we're going to blow up like this. Right. Like that was not our intention at any point. We had questions we were curious about, but we really wanted to have a deeper conversation with him.

Speaker: And I think we, I think we accomplished that. But I also feel like, Watching all of those headlines and those articles about that particular part of the interview, it kind of made me sad because I'm like, I think there's even more interesting things in that interview than that piece. So I wish we could focus on those things. But, you know, it is what it is. But but again, i get where that comes from. that i do, too. like I get it, too.

Speaker: Like clickbait is a way to get people in the door. And and that's what a lot of these blog posts are doing is they're using it as a means of getting people in the door. and And really, like, even for us, you know, with the interview, it's like, hey, yeah you know, that's that is a way to grab people and bring them in. But like you said, you know, the the whole intent of us asking that question about the Yeti was not because we were like, oh boy, this is going to, you know, blow up. It's going to blow up on the Internet. Yeah, it was. We we legitimately were like,

Speaker: curious and wanting to understand the thought process behind something like the Yeti because we knew that Joe had a very big hand in getting Everest into reality. So it was like, yeah and you know and he has talked about like the Yeti over the years and stuff like that. So we were like, hey, you know this is just a continuation of the conversation and and us just being genuinely curious, which I think you know when it when it comes to you know Stuff like, stuff like um you know you know, talking about the Yeti in the interview and stuff like that. i'm

Speaker: I'm of the opinion, and I feel like you and I, like you said, we achieved this with the interview, that, you know, I would rather ask questions from a place of curiosity, not from a place of baiting for a particular answer or, you know, hot take or whatever. like and yeah, I feel like, you know, us doing that interview, we were we were legitimately curious about...

Speaker: Joe's thought process and all the things that went into the book and, you know, you know, things that went into Disney and all that. And I'm just glad that we were able to one, talk with him, like, like you know, the you know, just yeah getting an hour with somebody like that is huge. And then two, that, you know, the fact that we were able to come to him with with things that we think are meaningful and hopefully that, you You know, you know, the end result of this is, you know, people learning more about the stuff the same way that you and I like to learn about this stuff is yeah like, it like, I think it, I think it just makes honestly the, the experience of Disney that much better when you get a chance to kind of understand where somebody like Joe is coming from that, you know, it's not that he's like trying to sell something is that he legitimately has a passion around

Speaker: the, you know, you know, the stuff that he has been involved in and the stuff that he continues to be involved in. And, you know, I'm glad we were able to showcase that and not just get another, you know, clickbait headline out of it. Right. Like that's. Yeah. yeah That's what was important. Listen, it was, we,

Speaker: I mean, we are we were very fortunate to get to to to interview Joe and the fact that he allowed us, you know, just spent time ah talking to us about it was was amazing. and And, you know, honestly, that was like I think we said it was one of the I mean, it's probably the highlight of doing this podcast. And we've been doing this podcast a long time now. And, you know, i there was a certain I was very excited by the amount of attention yesterday because you and I worked very hard on this and we worked hard on the, on the the planning of it, the story, the you know, the making sure that everything was, ah you know, we were doing this in in the best way possible. And so just to, to have it happen that way earlier in the week, it felt very rewarding in a way, even though it was around clickbait, but that's been driving people to the channel and to watch the interview. And so to me, the, the,

Speaker: Regardless of whether it was, ah you know, the kind of headline I wanted it about it, at least it got people to to check it out, you know? Yeah. And I'll take that. Exactly. yeah so and And yeah, like you said, you you know, for every 10 people that may have, you know, clicked on it for for the drama or whatever around it, you know, hopefully there's one person that, you know, wants to hang around and and continue to...

Speaker: see what we're about because you know I I think we you know we've said it for a long time is you know we're not doing this to become famous or yeah you know that we we've got some some agenda of like getting getting one over on Disney or whatever it's because we're we're passionate about these things and we we just want to have good conversations about things around Disney so you know hopeful hopefully we you know it just gets more people to see that right so yeah Exactly. And I mean, listen, wait i ah weve we've been I've been watching the ah the just the numbers on the video.

Speaker: It's been doing extraordinarily well. My wife said something to me. Well, you know, it's funny, Trevor. There was a comment on ah on the video, ah and it said um it was nice of Joe to give such a small channel ah an hour to you know to to talk to him. And I was initially mildly offended by that comment, you know, because I'm like – But at the same time, because we've been doing this a long time and we are not. But to be fair, we are a small channel on YouTube, right? Like we have only been doing YouTube for, you know, a couple of years here because we were, you know, we we yeah we were exclusively like iTunes and Spotify and stuff for a long time because and there was a reason behind that. But yeah, YouTube didn't work for us for a couple of reasons. Yeah. We're not getting into we won't get into why we couldn't do YouTube before YouTube before. But it things changed, obviously. And ever ever since then, we've been trying to do a lot more things on YouTube. And so we are fairly new to the video you know side of things. But, you know, obviously, we've been doing the audio piece for a long time. So I was like, yeah, it's a it's a good point. But ah from ah from the perspective of audio, we've been doing this for you know for a long, long time now. Yeah.

Speaker: you know But I think that's why it went as well as it did, though, because it's not like, yeah, you know, we may have a very small presence on YouTube, but, you know, we were able to we were able to conduct ourselves in a way of, you know, running an interview, not being like, ah hi, this is my first video kind of vibes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. ah yeah It's it's ah it is kind of funny how that Yeah. Well, I mean, you know, listen, it's i'm I'm very happy with how everything has gone. It is very weird for I like I said, it's been a strange week and i you might be like, why has it been strange? Because ah seeing our podcast name on like all these different Disney blogs is a little weird. Yeah. You know, yeah. To that end, too, like my brother messaged me. I think it was like Thursday sent me a message. He's like, oh, just so you know, um i saw your name pop up on my Facebook feed, which

Speaker: to ah To understand what that means, my brother like my brother is interested in Disney, but not to the level that I am. So he doesn't follow a bunch of Disney content. So for him to get pop-ups on his feed relating relating to that, but then further him immediately noticing, like, oh, this is actually talking about you know my brother's podcast. Yeah.

Speaker: That says something to me that like it's it's spread beyond like the the small bubble that is like the, the the what what do you want to call it? The Disney Facebook bubble, I guess. like Because yeah there there is like smaller, there's a smaller subsection of people that are like,

Speaker: very heavily into it but the fact that it's gone beyond that is like and wow that's that's cool like that that's really cool that that we got something that traversed that right so it is it is yeah it's it is just a really it's just a very yeah it's a it's just a very weird thing I mean it's and I I love it don't get me wrong I think it's amazing and to get that kind of attention we've never really gotten that before and ah you know it's it's great I I'm very pleased about it so it's um yeah And if you yeah don't know what we're talking about as you're listening to this episode, go watch the Joe Rohde interview on YouTube. Go watch it.

Speaker: Yeah, it's cool. yeah i by the way highly I highly recommend watching the video version of it. um It's great to to listen to the audio, but the video is, I feel like, and I'm not just saying this because we spent a lot of time putting the video together, and i and I'm not saying this because I want YouTube views. i'm Honestly, not. Joe is very animated.

Speaker: Yeah. he he He's express is' very expressive, very animated. When he gets really passionate, you can, he, you know, does a lot of hand movements. He gesticulates a lot and he makes really, i don't want to say crazy or funny faces, but he does. He makes like, he gets real wide eyed. He gets real close to the camera. I was joking with my wife. It's almost like he's in 3d sometimes. Cause he's like, comes to the camera and it's like, yeah you know? um So I, I highly remember watching the actual video of it. Cause I do think it, it is, ah it's, it's a better version of the, uh, of the interview. So it's, I mean, it's the most complete version of the interview. It's what it is. Like you, you can listen to the interview and, and that's fine, but yeah, getting getting the video alongside it definitely adds another level. And, and like my wife said, cause you know, she watched it and she was, she told me she was so interested the,

Speaker: all the stuff on joe's bookshelf behind him because oh yeah if you yeah if you watch the video he's he's sitting in like his library or something like that and it's like like it it looks there's so many fascinating things like like like even if you're not interested in watching joe talk and like you can spend a lot of time just like seeing the stuff that he has which is is very cool Yeah, there's there is a there's a lot of cool stuff going on in that video for sure. yeah so So anyway, it's funny because articles are still being posted about it, Trevor. it's it It really peaked on like Tuesday, Wednesday, but there's still ones that are popping up. And I'm sure a bunch of the Disney podcasts are also going to cover this on their next episodes too. So it's kind of like still going. and so i mean, the the conversation about the Yeti, I guess the thing we have to also understand is that this will come back around.

Speaker: Oh, sure. like If you think about it, you know, we we had the conversation with somebody who, yeah you know, Joe is not directly working on it, but he, you know, he clearly has, you know, insight and, you know, insider information of how these things play out.

Speaker: When this, when they ultimately start talking about closure of Expedition Everest, I won't be surprised if this stuff, if people cite back to this conversation again at that point. so Yeah, that's that's the thing that the the blogs do a lot is they will you know come back onto their onto the things that they already posted. Right. So, yeah, I'm still geeking out of the fact that Dr. Disney, ah you know, reposted us that guy. Yeah. I yeah so i don't know who sent us is like, oh, Dr. Disney post. I'm like, Dr. Disney. No way. That was, I actually found that just because it hit my feed. I threw that on the yeah on Discord group. yeah yeah Oh, that you were the one that threw it? I thought somebody else did, but okay. No, that it was me because i because it was literally like i was i was, same as you, as I was seeing all the posts and then I was like,

Speaker: Oh, this one's new. And then I and then i was like, hey, um yeah, Dr. Disney. Yeah, I was like, no way. It's Dr. Disney. That's awesome. And then I emailed him and I was like, hey, could you post the link to the interview? Like, he didn't post the link.

Speaker: And then he emailed me back and said he would. And I was like, oh, no way. I just emailed with Dr. Disney. ah So anyway, that's funny. It's weird how all these...

Speaker: things are connected or how it like like you said like like this interview definitely it's one of those things that it's, it's going to create more connections, which I think is what we wanted. Right. Like it's, it's, it's a very cool thing for, you know, getting people to connect about Disney. Yeah.

Speaker: Now I just need a, like a Robert Niles over at a theme park insider to write about it. Uh, that would, that would complete, that would complete the, like that would complete the, uh, the, the, the coolness for me, but you know, anyway, yeah. Well, but yeah, you know, we should really like start talking about some of the topics on the rundown because I know.

Speaker: OK, we will stop talking about the interview. I think people are tired of it, probably. Yeah, we but we we were were super excited about it. It was a huge thing for us. We're glad we got to do it. You know, I'm sure you guys all know that if you listen to us is that we're not we're not, you know,

Speaker: This isn't a day-to-day thing for us that we get to do stuff like that, but we should continue on with our are rundown. I will say this, even just, you know, as great as it is that everybody listened to it, and and I mean, a lot of people listen to it, but and are continuing to listen to it.

Speaker: Honestly, if nobody had listened to listen to it it, that would have been fine too. I got to talk to Joe Rohde for an hour and that's amazing. so That's true. yeah yeah Yeah. Yeah. Regardless of anything else, we won the day that we got to sit down and talk with Joe Rohde. So yeah.

Speaker: Crazy lucky. Crazy lucky. So anyway. ah So, Trevor, we we this is another one those times we took like kind of a week off, not purposely, just kind of how things worked out. but um So there was a you know fair amount of news that happened while we were gone.

Speaker: um and in In fact, there was a couple DVC things. So let's talk some DVC. ah We've got more Lakeshore Lodge. I know we've been talking a lot about Lakeshore Lodge, but it's been... I feel it's warranted. 100%. Because it is opening up soon, and...

Speaker: Yeah, you know that and of course, yeah you know dis Disney in their usual um way that they handle things is that that they're trickling out the information. They love trickling things out. Yeah. Yeah, they they love just trickling these little things out here and there.

Speaker: So one of the things we got here, so i we got a better look, I feel. it i don't i don't I think this first photo on here of the lobby, I don't think we were able to really see the fiber optic river floor in the last video.

Speaker: It was, I feel like we saw a version of this, but it was more cut off. Like, i feel like this is, the the last version we saw was more zoomed in and this is more pulled back. And so you can, like you said, yeah, you can see the ah the water or the, yeah, the not the water, but like the the fiber optic floor and just like the whole lobby. Yeah. The lobby looks incredible. I mean,

Speaker: this This reminds me in some ways of the awe factor that you get when you walk into like a wilderness lodge or you or like a Animal Kingdom Lodge where you walk in and there's just that that that that huge amount of open space above you. But there's also just so much going on. You know, it's like so ah alive.

Speaker: You know what I mean? Yeah, that's like this is very alive. There's. the the the leaves, ah you know, ah kind of art that's going on up above. There's just huge windows looking out onto to Bay Lake.

Speaker: i just, it just looks gorgeous. I mean, i don't know what else to say about It just looks c incredible. just I mean, yeah, it like i I can't wait to see actual video of it in person. And then ultimately, like I i i will i will go over there just for the sake of walking around through Lakeshore Lodge, even if I don't get a chance to stay there. Like I i wanted to see this place in person.

Speaker: I do, too. But then we also have there's a lounge that they have released images of ah that is called Branch and Brush. ah So it's like just like it's like a little bar and lounge with. And again, the the biggest feature of this resort is huge windows looking out into Bay Lake. Right. Like everything's looking, which they should do. Right. I mean, because you have you don't think it's very pretty.

Speaker: Sorry. You don't think the ceiling is not the feature of this? so No, i was getting there. Because I was going to say, yeah, the view is nice, but there's there's way more going on here than just that view. yeah I don't even know how to describe this, to be totally honest with you. it's it's It looks like a tree, yeah but it's clearly like projections or something. And I'm assuming this is all going to be animated and moving.

Speaker: That would be cool. ah But basically the lighting in the in this lounge is like you said, is a tree in the middle, which I didn't notice at first, by the way, that was I somehow missed the the the tree trunk. ah But there's a big tree trunk and then it looks like just kind of like floating groups of branches in these really vivid, ah really amazing colors.

Speaker: It yeah it just just looks awesome. Yeah, I get it. This is one of these things I want to see. i want to see what it actually looks like when it's animated. that That's something i feel Disney Parks blog could... Or they probably won't do this, but they could start doing like animated GIFs on the website to show this stuff off. But I get it. It is also concept art and everything, but they could still...

Speaker: I feel like if they animate this, it would just further add to the wow factor. Like it already looks cool, but that's because I'm already envisioning what I think it's going to do. But yeah, yeah i I think this is going to be a very cool lounge to experience. Absolutely. And I'm, you know, I think everyone here knows I'm not a drinker, but I, you know, maybe would go in there and have like a mocktail or something. Yeah, for sure. You know, because i just I just want to hang out in this space. It's so cool.

Speaker: So anyway. Yeah. So that's what we we got as far as Lakeshore Lodge, by the way. ah ah Booking is open now. we We did get a look to a cash rates, which I did not put on the rundown. But, you know, as DVC members, not really caring about the cash rates, I guess. um But, you know, I'm curious, but yeah, ah we can I can find them really quick if you have them. If you have them available, I'm i'm curious because I feel like the cash rates kind of you can kind of gauge what the points are going to translate to.

Speaker: So the starting standard rates per night for each room type. You ready for this driver? Sure. ah Duo Studio, which is has a preferred view, is $512 a night is the starting. it'll go up from there. That's the lowest you can possibly get.

Speaker: ah Unless, you know, there's discounts, obviously, too, sometimes. ah Resort studio will go for anywhere from 551 to 576, depending on the ah view. oh I'm sorry. Depending on the on the bed ah size. so there's resort views that go up Preferred view goes from six thirteen to six twenty two And then a deluxe studio with a resort view. ah Just I don't know why they're listed separately. Oh, it's it's the resort studio versus the deluxe studio.

Speaker: There is a difference between those two things. So the deluxe studio are like the DVC rooms. Right. So those go between 630 and 748 night for a studio. Fair pricey. Yeah. I mean, I mean, that that that is kind of lining up with the other. Yeah.

Speaker: Magic Kingdom resorts, which I'm not surprised about. It does. i think it's a little bit lower than the ones on ah Bay Lake. Well, yeah, I mean, I think you you have to have a little, it has to be a little less, right? Because you're not on the monorail loop. You like you have to take a boat over to a Magic Kingdom so you don't have that same premium.

Speaker: Yeah, I guess, yeah, that that kind of puts it in line with like, yeah, like Wilderness Lodge kind of. Yeah. Wilderness Lodge has the same, yeah, kind of. say Yeah, i was I was curious about that because I felt like, you know, the way that they've been positioning this, that they could have they could have framed it the same as like a Grand Floridian or Polynesian.

Speaker: But yeah yeah, it sounds like they're not quite or or they they realize again. Yeah. Yeah. You know, not having that monorail loop access is enough that it drives the price down a little bit. Yeah. So, yeah, that's interesting.

Speaker: So then, ah you know, if you want to go above that, you know, they have some club level rooms to hear that, you know, are go all the way up to the presidential. the The Hidden Willow presidential suite with club access is twenty nine hundred and seventy six a night.

Speaker: move harsh. Uh, then there's the one bedroom villa. Uh, those go from anywhere from nine 29 night to night. ah depending on view two bedroom is eleven twenty five to seventeen nineteen And then a three bedroom is twenty nine seventy three. Again, these are all starting. So it goes up from there. um And then we also have ah the lake houses. The one bedroom lake houses are going for twenty three hundred and fifty three.

Speaker: Two bedroom is twenty nine forty two. so there you go. Yeah, this is all why I remind myself why I have DVC. Why you have DVC. That's correct. Yeah. Yeah, that's why we have DVC. Yeah, it's a good reminder of why we had DVC. Like if anybody needed a reminder of why we have DVC, there it is.

Speaker: um But yeah, it's pricey. it's it's I mean, listen, it's a deluxe resort. I mean, it looks like it should command those kinds of prices based on what it looks like, you know? Yeah, for sure. I mean, yeah i'm not I'm not going to balk at those prices either because like you said, it's i I guess I know what I'm getting.

Speaker: For for staying in a place like this. And and again, you know, location, all that it is yeah it can be justified, but I get, you know, i have this conversation sometimes with people that, you know, come to me asking about like Disney planning.

Speaker: And they always kind of have that hopeful look in their eye where they're like, oh, maybe I could stay at, you know, like the contemporary or something. and i'm like, well, you can. But if you want to pony up. but But, you know, you know, for what you already told me you want to do, basically double what you're paying per night.

Speaker: And then all of a sudden they go, oh, and it's like. Yeah, that this is the the cash room rates are they're pricey and they're they are that way for a reason. Like if if they didn't, yeah you know, Disney would have they they they wouldn't have a problem with the Or they they would have a problem with um occupancy, meaning that, like, these hotels would never not be booked. Never be booked. Yeah. It's like a friend of mine who was wanting to go to the parks for one day and was like, wow, the one day ticket rates are a lot. Are there any discounts I could get? And I'm like, on a one day ticket? No. And they're like, you sure? They're like, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. That's why you're not going to get anything ever. or days Yeah. Yeah. It's like, you're never going to get a discount on a one day ticket. So, like you know, but they tried. right, Trevor. All right. Cool. What were you laughing about? No, I was just, I was just thinking about like, yeah, that I had a coworker that he tried to come to me two weeks before a trip and thought the same kind of thing. was he He was like, well, what kind of discounts? I'm like, well, nothing. You're like, you should have been having this conversation with me like three months ago.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. I had I had somebody that did that, too. I was like they were texting me while they were there. They're like, what's the deal with like the fast passes? I'm like, you're asking me now while you're there. like That's your way behind on this. So um anyway, ah what was I saying? ah Where were we? Oh, OK. youre yeah We're moving on to a cruise. Yeah, so we're going to talk about the Disney Believe a little bit later here. we're you know We've talked about this before. We're not a cruise podcast, but when there's things like this, we need to talk about them. so

Speaker: um But as far as DVC news goes, there was a lot of announcements about the Disney Believe and that came up, and one of them was ah that there is going to be an exclusive ah members first wave cruise, so a members-only DVC cruise, from January 5th to 10th 2028.

Speaker: So we don't have to talk too much about that, but it's going to be a five-night voyage that goes to both of the private islands and also Nassau. So we'll find out more about that when it gets closer. For some reason, I thought that that was... Actually, yeah now that I think about it, if that was 2027, that would have been insanely...

Speaker: fast coming up. but Yeah, no, that would be really fast. Yeah, no, we're we're still a little far away on the belief. They're still building it. So, yeah. um But yeah, so that's good to know. You know, that's that's out there. um But the other thing here, too, I wanted to put this out here, Trevor, just because I find this to be a an interesting thing more than anything.

Speaker: um So there are reports now that um Riviera is 95% sold. Which is interesting to me because I ah was I mean, I don't know where I thought it was. I don't feel like I'd seen an update before and like where their inventory was. But, um you know, the it has taken them a fair amount of time to sell this one out. Now, given it was a brand new resort and, and you know, you had COVID mixed in there, too.

Speaker: ah But and there's they Disney just has a lot of properties available to there's there's also that. So um but yeah, it's it is interesting to me that it's almost almost sold out at this point.

Speaker: I think the takeaways that I get from that is there was definitely a perception where when Riviera first came out that because it was the first resort that had the new restrictions on resale that yeah it was going to push a lot of people away from buying it or, or you you know, existing DVC people are like, oh, you know, that's, you know you know, you know, nobody's going to buy that, right? Like like that that's always like the the sentiment that you hear. And I think it's interesting to

Speaker: These kind of stats I think are good to kind of like show the difference between perception and reality that there may be a lot of people saying like, you know, I would never buy Riviera, but clearly people are and clearly, you know, Disney is doing a good job of selling it. And I think like Riviera, as far as resorts go, like, you know, you and I have been in there. it's It's a nice resort. I think the location is fantastic. You know, the resale part I think is, that's the only thing that hurts it.

Speaker: But clearly there's enough of a demand for it that, you know, the resort is almost 100% sold out. The interesting thing about that is, you know, for people that are on the fence about, you know, should I get into DBC or you know, you know, it is Riviera the right resort for them?

Speaker: this lot yeah you know knowing this information might push some people over the edge towards buying Riviera because um the reality is is once it's 100% sold out, getting it through Disney is going to be difficult. You can, but you know it's you know getting getting resorts that are fully sold out is like more a matter of whenever somebody decides to um sell their points and Disney buys them back and then sells them to you. So, of course, it's not...

Speaker: You're not getting, you know, a great deal on it necessarily. um But I'm also curious, too, once this sells out, how that's going to affect the ah the resale market, too. Because, yeah you know you know, resale on Riviera is not as in demand as other resorts because of the fact that if you have resale there, you can only stay at Riviera.

Speaker: But I'm wondering if maybe once this does sell out 100 percent that it'll drive ah more people to maybe can taking resale a little more seriously. But again, it's it's a very interesting thing because it's like like Riviera was actually the first resort of that type.

Speaker: And I'm just curious to see what what this full lifecycle looks like as it plays out for it, right? so I agree. Yeah, I agree. Maybe we should we should get our friends over at Resale Market on here sometime soon here to find out a little bit more about what they think it's going to do to the resale market when that sells out.

Speaker: Yeah. And yeah to that end, too, is, you know, they'll they'll have better insights on trends and stuff that they may be seeing with resale around it at this point. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: All right. ah Trevor, one of the things that you were very hopeful for with Monstropolis, we're you know shifting a little bit here away from DVC, is that they would embrace the idea of food that looks gross but tastes good thing.

Speaker: I don't know if there's a name for that. Yeah. But ah Disney gave us a preview of some of the foods that they're developing for Monstropolis. And i think this looks promising so far for your your hopes. are are you Are you disappointed in any of these things? or What do you mean? Like...

Speaker: I mean, the very first picture, are these eyeballs? Yeah, they eyeballs. Yes, they're they're straight up eyeballs. um Yeah. I mean, i don't know what you mean by disappointed. No, I think this is great. I love this. I don't know. What are the eyeballs? What do we even know what they are? Did they say? Well, OK, I guess disappointed. What I meant is that I know that for you, that like you're less inclined to try to.

Speaker: if If it's an eyeball that's made out something that you're familiar with, you'll eat it. But if it's like something that you're unfamiliar with, then it's kind of a double whammy. of You know what? I'll give it I'll give that to you. Yeah.

Speaker: I don't. But what are what is the eyeball, though? It is. I don't see a definition of it. anymore I'm looking at I'm like looking through this article and I'm trying to figure out what it might be. And yeah, I have no idea. But.

Speaker: Yeah, the the the food looks, it looks interesting. Like that's that's all I'll say is that it looks interesting. And that's what I wanted was yeah interesting looking food.

Speaker: And hey, so they have ramen, so you can try ramen. but Okay, so I actually found it. All right, so it' so there's two things that look, and and this is still early, right? So this is just like, they're showing us very basic things right now. But they have they have these things that look like eyeballs, and then they have like this purple and greenish kind of drink.

Speaker: Right. Looks like a cold foam something. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. But what this says is a fish cake slice to look like eyeballs. What? what Fish cakes. Really? That's what it says. says a Fish cake slice to look like eyeballs and green eggs.

Speaker: I don't know where the green eggs come in, but I just see the the eyeballs. I'm trying. okay now im I'm looking at that and I'm trying to figure out how that's fish cakes. Huh. Assuming that that's what they're talking about there. i I mean, I don't see any other eyeball related dishes. Well, they say slice to look like eyeballs. So I'm I'm thinking I'm thinking that's something different than this. Yeah.

Speaker: Because i'm I'm trying to like I'm looking at everything else. like Really, all they're showing is the the ramen. And oh, I think I see. OK, I see the fish cake eyeballs. Yeah. there It's actually on the larger picture right below the ah the drink with the the eyeball. Is it in the is it in the red thing?

Speaker: no it's um it's like a white tube. Okay, so that's different eyeballs. Yeah. So but so so that's that would be a fish cake. So what are these other eyeballs now? The other ones are. Yeah, that that's concerning that we don't know what those are. That's yeah, that's that's interesting. Oh, and the drink is called Blort, apparently. ah This is yeah great. um which You know, great. It says it's Monstropolis's favorite soda topped with Scream Apple Foam.

Speaker: Yes. You did say it had foam. Yep. I'm in on it. yeah I did read somewhere that they are replacing. i mean I made a joke and I was it was a joke, but it was kind of serious that they were just making this new. They were turning pizza Rizzo into this new restaurant because the pizza equipment is already there and might as well just s flip it over. Right. I did read somewhere that they are replacing all the equipment and ah creating a new recipe because listen.

Speaker: As far as pizza goes and as far as Disney pizza goes, you know, Pizza Rizzo wasn't exactly one of the good ones. which you know I mean, it did the job. It was it it was okay. But i i will say this is that i I was still mourning the loss of Pizza Planet for the longest time. Because I...

Speaker: I liked Pizza Planet. I'm not saying that the food was any better at Pizza Planet, but... It was still the same food, I think. from Yeah, I think it was. but yeah so So to that end, yeah, that they are replacing um Pizza Rizzo with Archie's Scare Pig Pizza, which I i find it cool that they're doing like they're referencing Monster U thing. Yeah, Monster U stuff is cool. And i mean maybe you know maybe they did take the feedback on the pizza that it was... you know you know, basic, basic, even by theme park pizza, which is you know, yeah, generally bar. Yeah. and there Listen, when I go, when, when we were there last time I had, we had the flatbreads at Pinocchio village house. They're always a solid option. They're not like the greatest, greatest pizza I've ever had, but they're not,

Speaker: terrible like they're good yeah they're decent you know like that's that is the thing is that across across the property there are different levels of pizza and yeah like pizza rizzo was like it was not good even yeah no i i would say you know of all the i've had pizza at various places that like I would put it in the same space. And actually, I think even um the All-Stars pizzas might have been above Pizza Rizzo, I think. Yeah. Okay. Because, like, the All-Stars pizzas, were again, weren't, like, amazing, but, like, they were ah they were an okay option.

Speaker: They did the job. Yeah. I haven't had them in a long time, I will admit. It's been it's been years. but I really want to know what these eyeballs are, and there's no explanation in this article about what they are, and that's that's unfortunate. There's lots of stuff in this article about... um like they're They're talking about the ramen. It looks like there's some eggs sitting there, which I'm i'm betting those are not eggs, but or there there's some kind of weird twist on eggs. like the The whole thing, like it it's it is definitely showing very... um

Speaker: like It's that mix between like um yeah you know like like a good good dining options, but also some weird um themed things. right like i i think I think they found struck that right balance of...

Speaker: Like you you can still go in there and eat some like it's not all like like themed food is like it looks like there's some legitimately good options in here. But then I feel like the themed options are going to be just as good as. Yeah. You know anything else you order on the menu.

Speaker: Yeah, and I did laugh at the end of this article because they said, ah and if you're wondering whether there can be too many eyeballs on the menu, the team already had an answer for that. You can never have enough eyeballs in Munchtropolis. So kind of feels like they're going to have more eyeball related foods, um you know. mean, yeah.

Speaker: Like if you look at the yeah like the the the front of Harryhausen's has chopsticks with the eyeball. Like, yeah, yeah i mean, yeah, it kind of makes sense.

Speaker: yeah This is a good start. This is a good start. there' We're going to see more as we get closer. oh This is definitely its eyeballs. or I'm wondering if they're like a jelly. I was thinking they're like a gummy kind of jelly thing. and Yeah, that's what it kind of seems like. Right.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, I'm thinking like a Jell-O some sort. That would actually be very cool if they were like Jell-O eyeballs, which... Ugh, eating them. Well, that's... Yeah, you've got to convince your mind it's not what it is, right? Even worse is like when you're biting into it because of the texture of Jell-O. It has the consistency of eyeballs. Oh, my God. And my wife is going to laugh at this because...

Speaker: that's the same reason that I don't eat grapes. but Oh, really? Yeah. I do not like grapes because in my head, there's like, i imagine that's what it's like eating an eyeball.

Speaker: Wow. that I didn't know that this was a thing for you. just, Yeah, I will not eat grapes and I'm not ah like, ah but I don't like the taste of them either. And to that end as well, like I won't eat raisins. So like if there's like carrot cake something with raisins in it, I don't want to touch it. then But then like actual grapes, I'm like, no I don't want these. But then that that's the part where this becomes tough is that now they're serving me a plate of eyeballs and I'm going, yeah, i'm going to eat that. Yeah.

Speaker: Oh boy. Yeah. know it's That's going to be interesting. It's going to be interesting, but I love it. I'll be honest. I love it. I, I, this is exactly what i was hoping they were going to do for, Harryhausen's for sure. Yeah.

Speaker: all right, Trevor, why don't we go ahead and do our ad and then we will ah you know talk about some other stuff. Because we've been gone for two weeks, so there's lot of things going on. We've to talk some holiday stuff. we Yeah, some some more holiday updates. We've got some more things.

Speaker: So we're a little late to the party on this one, Trevor. um But I had to put this Halloween thing in here only for the Headless Horseman bucket popcorn bucket. Did we talk about this before? Because I feel like if I would have seen this picture, we would have talked about it.

Speaker: I'm pretty sure we talked about the Hatbox Ghost bucket. I don't remember talking about the Headless Horseman one. Yeah, I don't either. Because when I saw this picture, i was that that I was like, that looks like it's AI and not real. But no, it's a real popcorn bucket. It looks awesome. Yeah, the Headless Horseman one is insane looking.

Speaker: Like, i I wouldn't even want to carry that around the park, I'll be honest. Because you just want to, like, keep it? Like, is that... Well, it it feels like... Like there's a lot of very small pieces to it. It looks like. Yeah. and I would be concerned that I would like bump this the wrong way and I would like break the the pumpkin off or like break one of the legs off of the horse or something. Yeah. um Yeah. And again, reminding myself that this is a popcorn bucket. It does not look like a popcorn buck Where's the popcorn going? Like, there's not yeah exactly no popcorn you can fit in this. like This is a very cool piece. like Like, this is definitely a, like, you know, put it on the shelf kind of popcorn bucket. But it's not a, like, the hat box goes popcorn bucket.

Speaker: Popcorn bucket is very functional. Also very cool. Yes. it yeah but it's It's the right shape to hold popcorn. Yeah, exactly. And like said, I know we talked about that. This Headless Horseman one, though, I agree with you. The more I'm looking at the picture, it's what's I think what's doing it is the face on the horse yeah is feeling like it could be AI. Yeah, it's freakish. Yeah, yeah it's because it's yeah it's very unworldly, which it like it should be. like that's That is...

Speaker: how the Headless Horseman vibe should be. Like, it it should all be unworldly. But, yeah, AI, unfortunately, is kind of ruined us a little bit, I think, that that we we look at it and go like, ah why doesn't that look right? But I think that speaks to how well they designed it. is I would agree with that, yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: Assuming that, I mean, it' I assume that that's an actual picture of it and not just like an artist rendering. But, yeah, it it looks like it's real as far as I can tell. Yeah, I mean, it it looks like they posed it with, like like, lighting and smoke and everything behind it. And I think that's kind of what's what's doing it, too, is that they they very much produced this picture. It's not just a... Yeah, yeah. Like, like other pictures, you can kind of tell that they... um You can tell how they they framed it and everything. This one feels like, you know, whoever did the lighting and everything, they did a good job. But because of that, it it makes it feel like it it may not or that there's some Photoshop or something going on with it.

Speaker: So, yeah. the The other one I wanted to talk about, too, there's like two other ones here. Right. With that we talked about previously, but didn't actually get to see. One was the Hades Glow Cube.

Speaker: I remember talking about this, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't a picture at the time. Where is the Hades Glow Cube? Way down on the page. very There's a lot of things on this page. Oh, that. Okay. Yeah. yeah ge I remember talking about this. but So the other cool part about this is that when but it when you put it in the in ice, it turns it turns red.

Speaker: So, yeah. Interesting. Yeah. was like, that's really cool. Yeah, that that is a first for a glow cube that, like, I mean, it actually feels kind of obvious in retrospect, like having it react to, you know, warm and cold.

Speaker: Yeah. But, yeah, i I've never thought of that as, or I mean, yeah, Hades actually makes, it makes sense, you know drop him in ice and he gets mad. it does say just when the cube is submerged. So I'm guessing it it's it's actually just being submerged and not necessarily about the temperature of the beverage.

Speaker: um I don't know, but I couldn't be wrong. I mean, might have to get some hot chocolate and test it. Yeah. ah there's There's also this, um I don't know what this this green glow cube thing. The Oogie Boogie one?

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. The Oogie Boogie moon. Yeah. it it looks like a It looks like one of those eyeballs we were just looking at for Monster Monstropolis. It's a sphere. Yeah. It's not a perfect sphere, though. It's kind of like, you know. Yeah. It's got some texture to it because it's supposed to be like the moon. Yeah. I'm recalling like like Oogie Boogie, like his face appears across the moon at one point in in the movie. That's what this is. it I'll be honest, between this and the Hades one, this actually looks better to me. i think it's a cooler glow cube.

Speaker: um And also the fact that it's it's a sphere instead of... The the Hades one is kind of a weird shape, I will admit. like because It's a bit of a weird shape, yeah. The bust of him, it's it's a little weird, but I mean, I've i've seen other glow cubes that are, you know, all kinds of weird shapes. So, know, it's not that big of a deal, but the Oogie Boogie one, I feel, um just looks a little bit better.

Speaker: Yeah. i would I would agree. I would agree. ah Okay. So those are just a couple interesting things that we kind of missed because we were, you know, because we were doing a show. But I had to bring it up. I know Halloween's almost over at this point, but I just, I feel like I had to bring it up. They were just so cool. We got a couple of weeks still. It's not like. Yeah, we got a couple weeks. Yeah.

Speaker: Like Halloween's still happening. Yeah. I will say this, ah further down this list, that this, literal popcorn bucket that where am I missing the El Capitone theater ah popcorn bucket is why might why am i not finding this oh it's a pot yeah it's like a plastic version of like a paper popcorn bucket yeah yeah it's the pay it's it looks like the paper ones but it's just a or it's a popcorn bucket I find that I find that hilarious and, you know, appropriate. Like, you know, it's a popcorn bucket, but it's it's funny that they're selling a popcorn bucket that is based on a popcorn container.

Speaker: Yeah. Right. It is. It is. i it is yeah Yeah. That one's kind of weird. I mean, more so that like, you know, some of these other ones. But yeah, that that caught my eye because I'm like, really? Like that? That's that's where we're at. Yeah.

Speaker: yeah Yeah, that's right. That's right. Yeah, I don't... Oh, is this... Oh, that's a sipper. That's too bad. ah I saw... So i'm I'm just continuing to scroll through this list. I saw the Megabot sipper from Big Hero 6, and that actually would make a cool popcorn bucket. But, I mean, a sipper is still okay, but I generally...

Speaker: I don't like sippers because you can't functionally use them around the park. Yeah. Because they get they get sticky and it's like... They're impossible to clean. Yeah. But this one's cool. The middle parts of this is is filled with liquid, I'm guessing, not the actual appendages. I don't know.

Speaker: If appendages are, you're never cleaning this successfully ever. And if it's just the middle, that's not a lot of space for drink. It is not. Yeah. No, I think that one's been around, though. I think we've seen that one before.

Speaker: so i don't recall seeing it, but yeah, maybe maybe we did. All right. Yeah. let's say yeah we Let's see what else we got. Yeah, let's let's see what else we got going on here. Because there's other things. We're going to move on because, you know, it's almost Christmas now. And, you know, other holidays that are happening around Christmas as well. ah But, you know, Disney does a lot of overlays ah for the for the holidays. And ah one that we're getting that's a new one is Rock and Roller Coaster starring the Muppets obligatory holiday overlay.

Speaker: I love that they that they did that. yeah I really do. The obligatory. Yeah. That makes me incredibly happy that they said obligatory holiday overlay. That's really funny.

Speaker: Can you believe that we're talking about a rock and roller coaster holiday overlay? i never can i cant i never thought. i I never considered that there be a holiday overlay for rock and roller coaster. And I'm so happy that there is.

Speaker: It is pretty great. Yeah, i think that's that's amazing. um So it also, it seems like it's it's not just the music, though, too. It looks like maybe they're also changing the pre-show because it says once inside GeForce Records, you'll find Dr. T, the Animal Floyd, Janice Zoot, and Lips deep in rehearsals for their holiday spectacular. So that makes me think that they're changing the pre-show, too.

Speaker: Yeah. Which is kind of awesome. Which i but I'm wondering if that like the the queue in general is going to get. but like because you you can just do the the pre-show. But like the way that that queue set up, like they have like the the poster, the animated posters and stuff in there.

Speaker: I wouldn't be surprised if it goes even deeper than that. Yeah. That they they'll have. but Like, yeah, yeah like that that's actually that's very cool. And that that's very exciting to You know, be able to to, you know, Rockin' Roller Coaster was, you know, it's a great coaster in and of itself.

Speaker: But this is just that they're clearly invested in it like that. That's the part that makes me happy is that it's not that they just kind of threw Muppets in there. It's that they they are actually invested in making this something better than it was. Well, just just the very fact that they said rock and roller coaster obligatory holiday overlay is them committing to the bit, right? Like that's... I mean, that that yeah that's that is so electric mayhem. like Yeah. it's exactly it feels It feels right. Did you see who they have for the special guests?

Speaker: I did not see special guests, but I was going to do the song list. I was going the song list, but. OK. All right. Yeah. Well, that'll give us the special guests, too. Right. Yeah. Right. So let's let's do the song list here. We got Holiday Road with with the Electric Mayhem, Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear. So this is a full on Holiday Road cover by the Electric Mayhem and the Muppets.

Speaker: What a great song for for this song. That's a great... Oh, I want that song. I want, like... that' That's my... Everybody wants to rule the world for this this ride. yeah Yeah. You gotta have Holiday Road, right? Yeah. ah And then we have Christmas, Baby Please Come Home, which is gonna be by The Electric Mayhem and Jennifer Hudson.

Speaker: Yeah. Very cool. And then we have Silver Bells, which will be Electric Mayhem featuring Cyndi Lauper. I'm excited for that. Actually, I think... That's going to be a tie because I to hear the City Lopper. feel like better for the ride experience, you know?

Speaker: But I do want to hear the Cyndi Lauper song, though. Yeah. Like, I think, ooh. It's tough. And then the last one, there's there's no special guest on it. They're doing Little St. Nick, which is just the Electric Mayhem doing it. which Yeah, yeah.

Speaker: I mean, again, that that's so cool that they they're doing specific songs for the holiday overlay. Like, they didn't have to do that. No. But they did.

Speaker: Yeah. And I'm so glad they did. all the i mean, all the other overlays they do, they just throw the song in there, right? Like, yeah they literally recorded four new songs for this. like And they're changing the pre-show. I'm trying to even think to myself of a holiday overlay they've done where they changed the whole pre-show.

Speaker: I can't, I mean, i know in Jingle Cruise, they kind of change the music in the queue, but like, mean, you know, technically Haunted Mansion's pre-show is completely different because the whole ride is completely different. so That's true. The whole ride is completely different. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: yeah I just think this is awesome that they're doing this. I love it. I'm i'm excited to listen to these songs just outside of... I'm sure they'll put them out, like they'll release them, and then we can just listen to them.

Speaker: ah But I just want to hear them, you know? Yeah, i I wouldn't be surprised if when we get closer to Christmas, if, yeah, a couple of these pop up on YouTube. That that would actually you know now that I think about that would be very cool of them to do like music videos for these.

Speaker: i mean they might if they haven't already. Yeah because you know featuring the the special guest stars is like do a proper music video with you know electric mayhem and all that and then and then when you ride the ride it's you know you get to hear that.

Speaker: Yeah. Like that's that's a very cool way to do this I think. Oh, yeah. there was There was an Instagram announcement about this, and you they gave a little bit of it. But, um yeah. This is cool. I think this is awesome. Yeah.

Speaker: Still not going to get me to go on it. But, really? Oh, come on, Tom. You can keep trying. keep trying? It's not, it's not, okay, it's not as, it okay, everyone else needs to back me up on this. It's not like riding Velocicoaster. It's,

Speaker: It's not that bad of a roller coaster. It's actually pretty smooth. It's, there's just a couple of loops at the beginning and then you're fine. I promise. It's just a few, they're just small loops. It's fine. now No, no.

Speaker: Come um ah guys hold on. on. Guys, come on. No, no, no, na and no, and no. I got you on Space Mountain. We can get you on Rock and Roller Coaster. No, no, no, no. think I'm more likely to go on Guardians of the Galaxy than Rockin' Roller Coaster.

Speaker: Fair. Okay, yeah, I mean, fair it is stepping stones. Like, I would i would say you would use Guardians to step up to Rockin' Roller Coaster. But it's not, like but i I've ridden the worst roller coasters in the world for G-Forces. This is not anywhere near up there. I am it it's i i understand that. i understand.

Speaker: um I'm doing my best to to convince Tom here, everybody. Yeah. like it's Let's move on to Guardians, though. Let's move on to Guardians. Okay. Okay, fine. Yeah, let's move on to Guardians. So, Guardians, we're going to have three holiday songs. We'll have It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year ah by Andy Williams.

Speaker: And then Christmas Eve with Sarajevo 1224. Is that what that is? Yeah. Yeah. ah by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, ah which i I do know that song, and that would you probably be the coolest one.

Speaker: You've heard it. it's I can't describe it because it's just like... It's an epic song. Yeah. would want that one, I think. I would want that one. Yeah. If I were going to choose which one, it's that one.

Speaker: Yeah, that that one definitely. And I'm trying to think what Christmas rapping by The Waitresses is. I need to look this up, actually. Yeah, I'm not sure I know that song. I mean, I probably do. know, there's so many holiday songs that, like, sometimes you just don't know the names of them, you know?

Speaker: Yeah. Oh, I do know this song. I just pulled it. It's the one that goes, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas. I can't think at all because we're going to have to pay for rights. Fair. Yeah. but so So the interesting thing to think about with this is that like the whole thing about Guardians of the Galaxy is that it's it's Peter Quill's playlist from the 80s, right? That's right. So it's like all the polls are like, it's not going to be...

Speaker: the, the like big obvious, like Christmas songs that you think of, it'll be something that like, yeah it's kind of an, it's a very interesting thing how they're using like guardians of the galaxy as a means of like bringing back songs from that from the eighties that have yeah been otherwise forgotten. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. Or that are not not forgotten, but like less popular songs. so Yeah. Well, the the one song, that that one song by The Waitress is a pretty, it's a you'll if you listen to it, you'll recognize it pretty quickly. I'm bringing it up right now as we're yeah talking. so you'll You'll immediately know it from the beginning. i just, see I didn't know the name of it and i didn't know who sang it. I've just heard it a million times and had no idea who it was.

Speaker: So um while you're doing that, I'm going to move on to the next thing. The the recently announced DJ Lillipad over at ah at um it recently announced and implemented. Right. So this is started already um is also going to have a holiday season playlist from November 4th to January sixth ah With ah Deck the Halls, Toyland, Swirling, Swirling Saucers, and Joy to the Swirl.

Speaker: ah So this is new songs, I guess, right? um Yeah. did Disney is really... Stepping up the songs here. They're realizing that the the seasonal overlays have a lot of potential to them.

Speaker: Yeah. Right. Yeah. And because yeah, they actually, by the way, they went, it says they went to Nashville and, and recorded these new songs. Huh. Interesting. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. I feel like Disney finally has caught on to the part where like, you know, people come to Disney all times of the year. And, and I will say this is that I, I'm, I appreciate these overlays because I've gotten the chance to and experience ah some of these things. and you know, to be fair, the, the DJ Lily pad stuff I've not seen.

Speaker: yeah, but It's interesting that they're like, if you only go to Disney at a certain time a year, you may only see these rides with these overlays going forward.

Speaker: Yeah. Which is something interesting to think about that. Like, i I feel like I actually I will say this, too. With this particular or but with these overlays, like they've said, like, this is running from November 4th to January 6th. That's only like two months. So it's not. It's only two months, right? It's much easier to switch out songs than it is to change a whole ride like they do for Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. you know True. and and And to that end, I will say, like, I'm i'm glad that, yeah, you know, these things, that it's only taking them, it's only changing things for a couple of months. Whereas I i will continue to say that I dislike the Haunted Mansion overly because it takes, like, six months now before it goes away. Like, it's it's like the latter half of the year is Nightmare Before Christmas, which...

Speaker: you know i I hope they figure out a way to not do that. To not do that? Yeah. Make it faster. Make it faster. get like like Yeah, I guess I shouldn't be... like Yeah, these overlays, I think, are it It's a good thing. like It makes sense because if you're going there at the holidays, you're getting like that holiday spirit infused into all the other stuff you're doing at Disney.

Speaker: so Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. yeah These are cool. um That's a lot more than I thought they were going to do for overlays this year. It's good. though Yeah. Definitely good.

Speaker: ah So really the main things, Trevor, we also got, you know, a new article here about Mickey's very Merry Christmas party. I wanted to really the only things that are basically changing for this are the merch and the ah and the food. Right.

Speaker: And we'll probably do a whole food episode on the food when that comes out because we've done that in the past. And so I'm sure we will do that when we get a little closer and they release all the food. um But really all we have right now is is ah you know is the merch, right? so And the merch pretty straightforward stuff. I like it, though.

Speaker: Don't get me wrong. It's like... Kind of very retro. You know, it's like this retro. It's like a... It's very ah small world-y in some ways. Like the castle is.

Speaker: You know? ah Small world. I'm trying... Like, okay you're You're thinking like it's like that Mary Blair kind of. Kind of, yeah. But it's like the castle anyway. The other stuff is really just retro.

Speaker: You know? Like, yeah. It it reminds me of... when i was like christmas in the eighty s like christmas in the yeah which which like i i'm remembering when i was a kid like all of the christmas decorations realistically a lot of them were probably carryovers from the 70s because like you know my parents weren't going out buying new christmas ornaments and stuff every year um So, yeah, a lot of it is that those like very... Yeah, just just it feels like a 70s, 80s kind of Christmas theme that they're going for this year. It's because Disney understands their audience at this point, right? The people that come to the parks and come to the Christmas party are people that are in our age demographic. you know There's obviously younger people that go, right?

Speaker: But the the people that are taking families are the the millennials and they have there is... Disney has been pushing hard on this 80s, 90s nostalgia, right? Like, they really have been with a lot of things.

Speaker: And it's because we're the people that are, you know, going to the parks and and we're the people that have the money to buy these things, right? So it's like, appeal to that our sense of nostalgia to that time period. And then, you know, it becomes, ah it becomes ah ah you know, profitable for them, right?

Speaker: Yeah. i I will say that they did... One of these shirts, they actually very hit on the nose for me. um So the the back of the one shirt where um the girl's wearing that, it has a rocking horse on it.

Speaker: Yeah. So I have a rocking horse ornament that looks almost exactly like that, except mine is blue. um That I, it was, it was the first ornament I got when I visited Santa when I was like three years old. And I've, I still have this ornament.

Speaker: And since then, i've like I've gotten one of these ornaments for my son. My wife has one of these ornaments. like we We've made it like a family tradition where we have these rocking horses on our as ornaments on our Christmas tree.

Speaker: And I find it interesting that Disney is digging into that a little bit because for years I've not seen those rocking horses. And I'm wondering if this is their way of trying to bring some of that stuff back.

Speaker: Yeah. Okay. Which i'm I'm not mad about, but like I said, it's it's ah it's a very, like for me, that's a very specific thing. like Like, I feel like they could have put a lot of different things there, but that rocking horse is standing out to me.

Speaker: I can see that. Yeah, I can see that. Yeah. this I mean, these you know these are interesting details. we'll We'll have more as we get closer because as we talked about, they love to you know slowly release things as they get closer.

Speaker: um And so we'll know more and more. But for the time being, this is what we got. So, you know, interesting. But we also have Jollywood Knights, Trevor, too. Now, Jollywood actually is doing some new things a little bit here.

Speaker: Uh, and so one of those things is the, uh, new to this year is the checking it twice lounge in the animation courtyard, which seems to be like, it says step inside s sips and socialize and soak up the atmosphere with a live DJ and specialty beverages.

Speaker: So, yeah, I, I think it's interesting that they're, you know, they're doing it. They said the animation courtyard. So are they saying outside or they saying, is that inside?

Speaker: That's a good question because we're – I'm trying to think – because Animation Courtyard used to be um Star Wars Launch Bay, right? Well, now we have the whole actual thing there, right? so Yeah, but when it when it was Star Wars Launch Bay, I actually – we did – We did a fireworks, a fireworks. What was it? It was a, um or we got like VIP viewing to the the fireworks at at um Hollywood Studios, but it was also like like a dessert party. So yeah so kind of like kind like the... um

Speaker: Kind of like the one at Magic Kingdom where that they do in Tomorrowland Terrace, but they did the dessert party in Star Wars Launch Bay. I'm wondering if it'll be the same kind of thing.

Speaker: just interesting, because they say Animation Courtyard, and technically that's the outside part, right? Because the inside part is the, what is it called? Yeah, know what you're talking about. Yeah, you know what about. I'm blanking on the name. But yeah, it's interesting. But that's what I'm wondering because I know they have done stuff in that building before.

Speaker: But yeah, like you said, the the fact that they're specifically saying animation courtyard, that's also, I feel like that's a ah gamble to do to do that. Like doing doing an outdoor lounge like that is like, what if you buy tickets to it and it it gets rained out?

Speaker: i'm I'm going to guess they have a contingency for that, that if it does like rain, then maybe they can move it inside. i don't know. Yeah. Just seems like an interesting choice, though. does. I can't recall anywhere else where there's been like an exclusively outdoor event like that. Like I know that there's like the after hours events and whatnot, but like having like a lounge as an outdoor event seems it seems dangerous to me.

Speaker: Maybe dangerous meaning like, well, in terms of like the weather in Florida, like you're, you're really gambling with, you know, it not Yeah, but they're used to this though. They, they know the deal. I mean, you know, they're, it's, Disney's used to dealing with the weather, right?

Speaker: Yeah, I guess, but Yeah. I guess we'll see. i'm i'll I'll have to keep an eye out for this one. See what. to right Because somebody will cover it when it opens up. Right.

Speaker: I'm sure they will. Yeah, I'm sure. ah So got a couple other things out here, too. ah Let's see. So that part also ah Mike was asked. He's going to be coming back as well, you know, to greet meet and greet. But they're also going to have um George Sanderson and Needleman from Monsters, Inc. I don't remember who Needleman is.

Speaker: Who is that? Needleman. Yeah. Why am I blanking? Who is that one? That's a that's a minor character.

Speaker: I'm looking this up now. Now I am, too. Yeah. Now we just have silence. Oh, it's the, uh, um, it's like the two, it's the janitor guys. No, no, no. They're they're not janitors. They're other janitor guys. Yeah. The work. no they're They're the other worker guys that worked with, uh, Mike and Sully that, uh, like they, were they were like hauling the casters and stuff. yeah yeah they're maintenance workers right they that's what that's how looking for their names yeah yeah but it only says needleman on the list here and then yeah and then george sanderson yeah which yeah sanders george sanderson makes it sense because of 2319 yeah but yeah ne needleman's an interesting it's a random random choice really random um

Speaker: but I mean, whatever. it's fine I mean, that's fine. I don't have a need to meet that guy. Like, on i would be I would meet that character if there was a zero-minute wait for it, but I'm not waiting any more than five minutes for it, maybe. Right.

Speaker: You know what i mean? I mean, I feel like this is also them doing testing grounds for the upcoming Monstro. That's totally true. too right Totally true. Yeah. Yeah. Also returning is the holiday skating show. ah It's going to be in front of the Chinese theater, but it's going to they're adding in Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Jeannie and apparently more characters, which they didn't have before. So that's something a little new.

Speaker: hmm.

Speaker: Trevor, why do they have to make a Gertie, you know, lounge fly bag? I have no use for a lounge fly bag, but I want it. you You may be using a lounge fly bag begrudgingly. I want this lounge fly bag. I also don't want to spend the absurd amount of money that it probably costs. But I actually thought this was a popcorn bucket when I did, too. And I got excited. and I was like, I'm getting that popcorn bucket. then i saw flash flying I'm like, no, like I have no use for that.

Speaker: If you put plastic lighting in, you could put popcorn inside your lounge fly bag. Yeah. Is it is it wrong to make a lounge fly bag ah a display item? it's Oh, no. i i' I'm sure there are people that have lounge flies on display.

Speaker: And this is probably one of the most unique fli lounge flies I've ever seen. Because usually they all kind of follow the same like shape, right? This is like totally, totally outside of any of that. And yeah, like I said, it looks like a popcorn bucket. It does kind of make me mad that they stamped Jollywood Knights on the side of it because it's like Gertie's year round, man. Gertie doesn't need Jollywood Knights to shine. But it's Gertie with the Christmas hat and holding the ornament. So of course it's Jollywood Knights. I do want this shirt, though. Yeah, I was going to say. There's a shirt with Gertie, yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, your Constellation prize is this shirt, which looks really nice. I want the shirt now. But I can't get... i yeah this is Is this Jollywood Nights exclusive? but ah Looks like.

Speaker: I can't go to Jollywood Nights this year. why not? I got other things going on, you know? Like... Come on, you you can plan a quick trip. Don't say these things to me. Don't encourage them. What do you mean, No, don't encourage them. I'm just saying.

Speaker: No. No. I'm going to get an angry text from your wife. No, no, no no you're not going to because she actually just, she ah exasperatingly said to me yesterday, when are we going to the parks again?

Speaker: Like, it's up to me. Oh. you know, like i'm I'm the impediment to this somehow. Well, I might just share this conversation with my wife. who No, might's not do that. No. Message your wife. and then Don't start the wife chain here, the wife feedback chain. Okay. it's I know what happens when that happens. You do realize that they talk all the time. Oh, I know they do. Oh, trust me. I know they do. yeah i know. I know you know. Yeah. I hear my side of it. You hear your side of it. and Oh, yeah yeah. Oh, yeah. No, trust me. I hear it all the time.

Speaker: I also would like this ornament. I want all of the Gertie things. Give me all of the Gertie. So, Tom, let let's let's talk about this. Let's be real for a minute. You're yeah're telling me that you want all of these things.

Speaker: You know what would be a lot cheaper is eBay. Okay. eBay is what's cheaper. You think so? yeah After you pay for shipping and everything, with with the is the shipping cheaper than you driving to the park and getting it yourself?

Speaker: Yes. Yes. It has to be. With the ticket? These days with the price of gas? Are you sure? ah Come on. Yes. Yes. Stop trying to encourage this. Get out here with it. I'm not going to Jollywood.

Speaker: Okay. As much as I want to. All right. Well, maybe you can go next year. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. I just love the fact that Gertie's getting love. That's all I care about. Gertie's getting love. Makes me happy.

Speaker: Yeah. I mean, yeah, they're they're all very cool ornaments. I i like that the yeah the way that they animated Gertie, it feels very like like there could almost be a cartoon about Gertie.

Speaker: Yeah. Right. Like it's that it's not they're not just like taking a picture or like they could have left Gertie looking. Sorry. Gertie has like a thousand yard stare.

Speaker: um Well Gertie does. I mean Gertie's face doesn't change. Yeah. but I would say we'd make Gertie into like an animatronic where like, you know, the head would move it like, you know. yeah you know That would be cool.

Speaker: Right? I like that yeah that that they're giving Gertie, you know, more character in in all this merch. It's like the, yeah there was that animatronic, I'm really doing a throwback now to um a Universe of Energy had that had a Brachiosaurus that does his head just moved back and forth.

Speaker: You know, it had like like moss hanging out of it. do you remember that one? Yep. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, that's, that's you know, just do it let you say the same thing. up They got that somewhere. They could just ah could just borrow that. and Throw a neck motor in there. You know, that's all you got to do. I don't know why we got on talking about that. but Well, because we just finished looking at a bunch of Gertie merch. Yeah, Gertie merch. Gertie merch.

Speaker: and Make sure you put that on the yeah on the post when we put this episode out. yeah Yeah, that'll be part of the name of the episode. It's Gertie merch. ah So anyway, ah anything else with the holiday parties? I mean, obviously, I think we're going to get the, you know, they're trickling stuff out. So we'll we'll get some more as we get closer here. But we, we like you said, we we're still, we're not even at Halloween yet. So, you know, we we got a few weeks and then we can really let's slow we can really dive into the Christmas stuff, which yeah I will say I'm, I do, I don't hate Halloween, but I like Christmas more than I like Halloween.

Speaker: Like yeah I very much enjoy all the Christmas stuff that comes out. So great Christmas is a good time. i I agree. All right. So Trevor, I know, ah you know, we, I, we got to talk about some cruise stuff because the, you know, obviously the, yeah, it's it's fair. I, I, I know that I'm not going to do a cruise, but we can still talk about the new ship and everything. So we got to talk about the new ship. Yeah. So, and very quickly, as I've seen the news around this,

Speaker: uh, realizing that I will need to go onto the ship, obviously, um, because it's all of my daughter's favorite characters are, are happening on the ship. And, uh, that's, that's a real problem for me. So anyway, I mean, not a problem. Don't get me wrong. I love going on Disney cruises, but they're expensive and, you know, I only have so much money, you know, we haven't, we haven't struck it rich from this whole podcast thing. Okay. where Where are YouTube channels? Not even monetized. Okay. Right. Um, anyway,

Speaker: So there was a whole bunch of announcements. Tom needs a cruise. Come on. Yeah, I really do. i already have one scheduled for next year. yeah I know you do. yeah that's my wife saying, you know, she's she's saying, oh, when are we going the parks? I'm like, we're already going on a cruise. Like, you know. Anyway, Disney Believe. Okay, we got some stuff here. So we already knew that Moana was going to be the statue that's in the Grand Hall.

Speaker: ah So great. But now we're getting some more views on the different areas of the ship. And one of those is the wishing well, which is ah ah the lounge space.

Speaker: ah This looks to be the same. And listen, I'm going to let me preface this ahead of time. Again, we are not the Disney Cruise Line podcast. I have done two Disney cruises, which by no means makes me an expert on Disney cruises. So if I say anything incorrect in here, just giving you a warning ahead of time. I'm going to try to be correct.

Speaker: But anyway, ah so this is like the it looks like it's the lounge space where you get some coffees like the the most recent ships at the Jungle Cruise area. Looks like they've done this to Snow White.

Speaker: ah You know, it looks it looks cool and not as cool as some of the other spaces, but given this is not, you know, it's a good warm up. Yeah, it is. Yeah. And there's a skull sitting on a table there that has a drink in it, which I we will get to, I'm assuming later in the in the article here. But I don't know what that is, but that's really cool. like Oh, yeah.

Speaker: that That's the crow from the yeah the movie when he he yeah he's sitting on top of the skull and he kind of, eve or the the the evil queen says something and he kind of like jumps back and he goes into the skull and he's like looking out through one of the eyeballs. I think that's what that's supposed to be. You're 100% correct. I'm just curious what the drink is that's in it. But yeah, you can see the tail of it coming out of the back.

Speaker: um which is cool. And, you know, you got these really amazing stained glass windows that are on the back there. ah it It looks, it looks really nice and it's ah it looks like a great space. So ah then we have the, so Trevor, they all have, all these ships have like an, a activity space.

Speaker: Right. So like during the day they do like, um you know, they do like all sorts of different like, you know, family activities there. And then at night they do like adult exclusive stuff on this ship. It's going to be themed as utopia specifically.

Speaker: it says Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Zootopia will join. ah But it looks like the areas is themed to gazelle specifically. Okay. Which, for an entertainment area, that makes a lot of sense. Makes total sense. Yeah. 100%, right?

Speaker: There's also always the sweet spot on ah on the ships, Trevor, which ah are, you know, most of the stuff on Disney Cruises is included. The sweet shop is not. So that's a place where you have to spend extra money on things.

Speaker: um This one is going to be themed to Inside Out. on the On the last couple ships, it was ah Incredibles, right? uh and also actually i think on the what was it on the treasure was it zootopia on the treasure yeah i think it was but there's been zootopia there's been incredibles they've themed it to a bunch of different stuff this time it's inside out inside out joyful sweets so you've got uh you know anxiety envy and uh what in the sense of self-structure apparently the sense of self-structure That's like the cool like little statue thing they got lightning. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. yeah

Speaker: Yeah. Yep. It's been a while since I watched Inside Out too. I need to remember. i need to go back and watch it again. It's a good one. It's a, it's it's a, don't want to get you. Uh, it's a hard movie to watch, but it's a hard, it is a hard movie to watch. It really is.

Speaker: Uh, Then, ah so, you know, they always have, ah the especially the newer ships, they have kind of almost like dinner shows, Trevor. um So that when I was on The Treasure, the dinner show was, ah it was an Encanto, not Encanto, I'm sorry, Cocoa show.

Speaker: And that one was awesome. It was real. I mean, my daughter absolutely loved it on the treasure. This one is going to be Okun's Table, a frozen family feast. And so this is a new version. There there is a frozen restaurant on one of the other ships, um but this one is looks like it's a little different. So a frozen restaurant with entertainment, which means every every kid who's into frozen will want to be in this restaurant. Yeah.

Speaker: So then there's a the piano bar, which on the last ship was the Cruella bar, right? The Cruella piano bar. This one is themed to aerial, ah and it's called C-Notes. And this, you know, looks really cool. It's got like a little, it's got a really cool fish chandelier above the piano player. And that piano looks very glittery.

Speaker: it it does It looks like somebody just took a glitter cannon of some short sort and just, you know, exploded glitter all over it. But, um but yeah, this looks really cool as well. I mean, you know, I, I, I like it.

Speaker: And then we have, let's see what else we got here. This is one of the bars is called sky gazers, which is an observatory themed pub that ah will, you know, have like, it says it's like an astronomer's laboratory.

Speaker: So i really like the idea of that, I do too. Yeah, that feels, and it's a pub too. yeah this, this would be where I would be hanging out. Trevor, you would have you would love the 20,000 leaves under the sea pub on the, one on the treasure. oh my God. It's so cool. I'm sure the the the astronomer thing though is also very interesting to me.

Speaker: I can see that. Yeah. This looks cool. I mean, we we all we have is a poster, so we don't have any like pictures of what it looks like, but it does look pretty cool I feel like, yeah, actually, yeah, the these are all, all the um characters that they put around this poster are astrology signs. Yeah. signions yeah Which I find it funny that they couldn't find something for Scorpio, so they had Tink making a Scorpio image. yeah Well, I mean, are there any famous Disney characters that are Scorpions? Not really, right? Yeah.

Speaker: I feel like the closest you could do is ah Tamatoa from. Oh, yeah. Yeah, but he's a he's a crab, though. Yeah. Well, yeah. And they already have Sebastian. But Tamatoa is like bigger and all that. Yeah. that was That's true. That's true. Yeah. all right. I'm looking all these now, and I'm like, okay, wait. Okay, that's Sagittarius. That's Lisa. It is a cool poster. It is cool.

Speaker: Uh, then we got a view of the state rooms. Uh, the state rooms are, uh, themed to Moana Coco and inside out, um, which they they look very, I mean, they look great. They look just like, you know, the, uh, you know, the, some of the other ones you've seen on some of the other ships.

Speaker: Uh, this, I mean, they, they look very, uh, very well themed, I would say. Uh, and, and, yet you know, So these ah these rooms all kind of i don't want to say look the same, but they're all kind of like the same kind of layout. They just do like, ah you know, different theming in them.

Speaker: Yeah. I mean, they're cabin rooms, right? Like, that yeah like on a boat that you don't exactly have space to do a ton of variation with the rooms. No, but, I mean, Disney does have ah bigger rooms than a lot of the other ships. Their bathrooms are a lot bigger, which is one of the benefits.

Speaker: But, yeah, i like i like these I like these rooms. They look cool to me. There's also, like, a little... There's one that has, like, a Big Thunder ah vibe going to it here. I don't know which... What room is this? Yeah, all the ones I'm... like Okay, these are all Moana. Oh, this is the Tower Suite. Yeah, the Tower Suite is, like, a place I will never be, so...

Speaker: um Oh, okay. they These are the next ones down, which are like Peter Pan. Yeah. So Trevor, my story and if you've ever seen one of the, ah one of the ships, right, they have those big funnels, you know, there's two red funnels.

Speaker: Yeah. Technically they only need one of them. Right. And, but they have two because it ah creates ah like symmetry, right? So like they have, having one would look off. So they have two. So the second one, something they started doing over the last couple of ships here is they put these elaborate suites inside of it. So it's, this is like a one of one kind of situation, right? This is the only room that's like this on the ship. Like, and it's, you know, because of that. So that different?

Speaker: Absurdly expensive. Sorry, the the that's not the Moana or no, sorry, that's not the Peter Pan and Toy Story ones. that Is that this? No. This Royal Reef Suite that you're looking at? but No, this is the Tower Suite.

Speaker: Okay. The very last one. Very last one. Yeah. Okay. Right before you get to the musical. Yeah. I see. You get this big, son you have a big thunder mural. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Just go to the third picture and then you'll understand. Yeah. Yeah. Whoa. Yeah. though That's insane.

Speaker: Yeah. It's the, the tower suites are, like I said, a place that I'm never going, uh, because you know, absurdly expensive. It's two stories. It's, you know, it's a one of one kind of situation. Yeah.

Speaker: ah Yeah. It looks amazing, though. I would love to to stay. after Yeah. the These rooms are impressive. But yeah, definitely. Definitely not. Not in my budget either. yeah No.

Speaker: ah And as far as stage shows go, which is, you know, one of the signatures of of Disney cruises is the stage shows. we've got We're going to have Tangled the Musical, which is is exists on one of the other ships.

Speaker: ah But it says the reimagined set design and special effects. So that's great to to see. But also, the the so Trevor, they always have like a... I don't know how to to say this, right? There's like a Broadway style production and there's one that's like a step lower, essentially.

Speaker: They're all pretty much Broadway style, but like there's one that's like the the the featured one and one that's not the featured one, right? So the tango one, not the featured one, but still great, I'm sure. And then the featured one is going to be in Kanto, which ah this will be the first stage adaptation. i feel like this was...

Speaker: ah like inevitable that they were going to do a stage adaptation somewhere of Encanto. It just makes sense that, I mean, they did it. They did that live version of it. don't know if you so ever watched that, but where they had like all of the, remembered hearing about I don't think I ever it's good looked at it. but Yeah. it's It's good. And cause they got a lot of the, the, the original people. Right. So, um, but yeah, and so I think this is like my daughter loves Encanto. She loves, she loves Tangled. um,

Speaker: I feel it as though I am powerless against ah having to schedule this at some point. ah um But ah yeah, so we got that. And then so they have these little cafes. ah The cafes are Big Hero Sips, Cafe Kakamora. So those are just like little coffee shops, you know, like they do a coffee and tea. They're nothing, you know, too exciting.

Speaker: ah But in a they're also bringing back some stuff from some of the other ones, though. So the there's always ah the three restaurants on Bortrapmer, and you kind of rotate to the different restaurants each night, right? So 1923 is kind of just like a um like just kind of like a regular restaurant, right? And then Worlds of Marvel, themed to Marvel, obviously. We went on it. we We did go to Worlds of Marvel when we were on The Treasure.

Speaker: Super cool. ah You know, it is it is definitely for those that are really into Marvel, um but also the best part of the treasure, i think, and maybe one of my favorite things I've ever done is the Haunted Mansion Parlor.

Speaker: ah It's it's amazing. I'm so glad to bring you back. I'm not shocked that they are bringing it back because it is very popular. Also, incredibly small, Trevor. know if you watch videos of it, but it's so small. Is it? Okay. It's so tiny. And, um, it, but it's great.

Speaker: It like, so it makes a whole lot of sense that they're, that they're doing that. Um, but yeah, so this, this is oh something else. What I'm hearing is that the believe is like taking all the stuff that your family wants to do and putting it all in one place.

Speaker: Yeah, that's what all the cruise ships do really is they just put all the stuff you want to do in a concentrated spot. Right. but But I guess like because what you were saying was like there there was certain shows that your daughter liked that yeah so like Encanto and stuff is wasn't on the treasure.

Speaker: But now you're getting like even more or I guess sorry, it's even more stuff that you you and your family want to do than what you did on the treasure. yeah I mean, listen, The Treasure also had things that my daughter loves. Like, ah what was it? It was The Moana Show, which Moana is, like, her other favorite.

Speaker: What did I say? was Beauty and the Beast was the other one. Yeah, The Beauty and the Beast Show was really good, too. So, ah you know, it's you can't really go wrong on any of these, Trevor. they all have All of the shows are amazing.

Speaker: They really are. Right. But, yeah, yeah. the the The Frozen restaurant, I think, is definitely a big thing. And then the fact that there's an Encanto show, also very big thing.

Speaker: So, yeah, i I will say I would not turn down going to see an Encanto show either because, like, yeah, Encanto is a fantastic movie. And for me, like, that would be, i mean, I'll...

Speaker: broached this conversation with my wife again about, you know, hey, there's this new cruise ship, but I still don't see myself getting on cruise ship anytime soon. Which, again, and it's not like, I'm not, i don't want to force my wife to yeah go on a cruise ship and be miserable because I, like, I would feel bad if it was like I'm sitting there enjoying like a stage show and my wife is, you know, she she's in the in the bedroom, you know, feeling awful because, yeah. yeah I don't blame you that. a good vacation for her. No. You want her to enjoy herself. But but I do really, like, i I understand what you're saying about the Haunted Mansion parlor too that, uh,

Speaker: I do really want to see one of these one day. If you haven't watched videos of it, you should definitely check it out because it is, it is ah really, really, really cool. And I don't want to spoil it for anybody because like when we saw it, when we first got to check it out in person, I was, ah I was, i enjoyed the fact that I was surprised by a lot of things in it, you know, and, and just some of the things that I thought, i don't know. They, they really me. Yeah. My understanding is it's kind of like Trader Sam's in that it's it is like you you could find out all the little quirks and things that they do to that will surprise you. But sometimes it's better to just go there and experience it yourself and not I would ignore that not know everything ahead of time.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah, I would agree with that. ah So really quickly, just one other thing. We got a sneak peek for the for the the believe of some of the treats. ah and And some of those are the ones that are from the inside out ah treat, you know, joyful sweets area.

Speaker: ah Really, the main one that stands out to me here are these little balls. I don't know what these things are. Let's see. What are they? Popsicles, Rice Krispie treats, chocolate spheres. They're chocolate spheres.

Speaker: Chocolate spheres. Interesting. Yeah. With lollipops.

Speaker: Lollipops and a chocolate sphere, apparently. Wondering if that's, maybe that's how they're doing the eyeballs at Harryhausen's. Ooh, if they were chocolate? No, they looked like jelly, though. Yeah. But you're right, Trevor. It could be.

Speaker: wonder if it's a similar method or something. don't know. Maybe. Maybe. I did want to like talk really quickly, though, about we were talking about C Notes, which is the piano lounge.

Speaker: And there is a ah there's a drink here that's called the what is it? The sea salt martini. there Oh, this seashell looking thing. Yeah. What the I'm confused by this.

Speaker: I mean, it's it looks like a nautilus shell. And so I would assume you kind of like it only has one way you can pour it out. you just drinking it out of the end of the shell.

Speaker: Yeah. That's what I'm thinking. It is. I mean, it's kind of, because it looks like there's foam on the top, right? So it does. Yeah. Yeah. It's, and I mean, it does say that it's, uh, it'll feature. Oh, so they have a non-alcoholic version.

Speaker: That's like a, uh, an alcoholist tequila, but well, this one is okay. So it's sea salt, vodka, some sort of other thing that I'm not going to try to pronounce. Cucumber juice,

Speaker: ah something, an aperitif of some sort, and then topped with coconut sea salt foam or sea foam. But like, I'm just like, this is a, this is a cup.

Speaker: Like that's yeah incredible. It's a, it looks like a martini glass, but the martini glass is replaced with a seashell. It's kind of amazing. Yeah, it is. Yeah, it's a very, very neat glass.

Speaker: how How long until all of these get stolen? that's right it's Also, yeah I have to admit the yeah the wishing well, the next drink down, very much that glass is giving the same energy as the the glass that the evil queen uses in the movie.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. It's got that same kind of goblet kind of thing going on. Yeah. And it also says the queen herself in at a glass that magically changes colors when filled with its potion. So the I don't know which part of the glass changes colors. Is it the bottom part? Is it the the queen itself i herself? I don't know.

Speaker: Interesting. Isn't that cool? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I thought that was neat. And then also there's this thing at the Astronomer's Laboratory called the... ah coming to Disney Blue Sky Gazers. What is this? this is So the the alcoholic version is called Moonshine.

Speaker: The non-alcoholic version is called Starshine. Okay. I love that they're doing non-alcoholic versions of all this stuff. like That's that's cause pretty cool. i I'm very much there for that because I like i don't like drinking alcohol, especially when I'm if If I'm like, I know this is on a Disney cruise, but like if I'm if i'm at like a theme park or something like that, I don't want to be drinking alcohol.

Speaker: So giving non-alcoholic versions is definitely a way to get me in the door because otherwise if if it's like, oh, this is all alcohol, I'm like, yeah, never mind. I'll go somewhere else. Right. Yeah. so Like I would definitely try the star shine. It looks like, looks like they're doing some cool sciencey stuff. It looks like that's actually a bubble. It's a bubble with, with, with smoke in it. Yeah. Yeah. So like when it, or I'm sure when they bring it to your table and then it pops and they pop it does all the, yeah, the flow. Yeah. and they They do that. ah They've been doing that a lot on the ships. I think that I want to say the Haunted Mansion has one that has the smoke like that. I don't remember if it is a bubble or not, but they say it's a moon aroma bubble. Tom, what does the moon so smell like? I don't know, Trevor. I would assume. dare i can't believe I can't believe that's a question that I'm asking right now. Moon aroma bubble. What does the moon smell like? I want to know whose job it is to make up nonsense like that. Like whose job is it to fi to come up with that? um If it just smells dusty, I mean, I don't.

Speaker: I mean, you know, there's the old thing of the moon is made out of cheese, right? It's smell like cheese. That's not better. No, it's worse. Way worse. Yeah, way worse. ah All right. Well, I think that's all we got. Sorry, Jared. Speaking of cheese, you reminded me. my um So for those on the Discord, my my brother sent a picture of KD...

Speaker: k d cream soda or Kraft dinner flavored cream soda that he meant to bring it yesterday and he forgot, but he said he's going to drop it by sometime this week, most likely.

Speaker: um once I get it, i will share with everyone how horrific it is because, um Yeah, because we've we've talked about in the past, we've talked about KD and all that kind of stuff, joking about it. And I can't believe that somebody actually made a KD soda, but it kind of goes in the same line as like, horrific. What does what does the moon smell like? What does the moon smell like? I love it.

Speaker: Yeah. All right. All right, my friend. Let's let's wrap it up. That was a long episode, but we were gone. So, yeah, yeah, that was a lot to cover. But I'm I'm glad we're back on top of it.
