Speaker: On today's episode of The First Question... What's your perfect adventure sandwich? Haven't we all at some point neglected our children by setting up monster noises to terrify them? and if it's not your way and it's not his way and it's not my way Then whose Wii is it?
Speaker: That's not the first question though. This. is the first question.
Speaker: Hello and welcome to The First Question, the podcast where we talk about a Doctor Who story and then make up a game show about it. I'm Mark Harrison, and although it sounds like I'm your quiz master, I'm actually just a noise coming from your speakers or headphones.
Speaker: Every week, we take a Doctor Who episode and adapt it into a bunch of quiz questions, five rounds rapid. And this time, we found ourselves in 2018's It Takes You Away. And if it's 13th Doctor Sorry, it must be a geography quiz. Because Chibble loves globeshotters, doesn't he? It's a Euro trip. But maybe that should be a Euro trap, because today's contestants both come from the Trap 1 podcast. They also hang about in an archive telecafe, so let's hope that, like Bradley Walsh, they've brought sandwiches along for the ride.
Speaker: First up, she's a writer. She's a podcaster. She loves archive telly. It's Hannah Cooper. Welcome, Hannah. Hello, thank you. Yes, I'm pining for the forwards. Have you brought any sandwiches along? Let's get the hard questions out the way first. What's your favourite sandwich? I go. Prawn mayo with some cayenne pepper and lemon juice.
Speaker: Oh, that's a sandwich. Next, a man who loves Doctor Who, loves Europe, and loves cool t -shirts. I really like his t -shirt. I don't know why it's this noisy. no you see foru Oh, it's Eurovision, but it's flipped around the other way. He's a podcaster. He's a procrastinator. He's president of the Orphan 55 fan club.
Speaker: It's Pete Lambert. Hello, it's very nice to be here. Pete, same question. What's your sandwich of choice? um Um... I'm going to go. Ham.
Speaker: Hump. Yeah. yeah so A piece of ham, please, in a sandwich. Having been with Pete when he's trying to choose a meal deal, it's incredibly difficult because he can't find hope anything dull enough. this is no i i like Because this actually, there's a list of all the things I hate. And you take them all away and there's not much... but Yeah. You know what? If I'm feeling fancy, ham and cheese. If I deserve a treat, I'm going to go for the for the double whammy.
Speaker: But ah no mayo. For God's sake, no coriander. No fruit. Anyway. Tomatoes? Bye. Lovely. this is This is top sandwich check right off the bat. If this is your first episode, as I say, welcome. um So far, we've done game shows based on the works of Stephen Moffat, Russell C Davies and Douglas Adams. So who better to complete the Mount Rushmore of Doctor Who writers than Ed Heim?
Speaker: With this first episode, it takes you away. All three of us have rewatched the episode for this, but in case you need a refresher, here's everything that you... The listeners at home need to know about It Takes You Away. in 66 seconds.
Speaker: Sixty -six seconds. That seems very, very exclusive. Start the clock. Broadcast on BBC One on the 2nd of December 2018, it takes you away as the ninth episode of Doctor Who's 11th series. Written by Ed Heim and directed by Jamie Childs, it stars Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Torsten Kohl and Mandip Gill.
Speaker: Guest stars include Ellie Woolwork, the first ever blind guest actor in Doctor Who, alongside Christian Rubeck, Lisa Stock, and Kevin Eldon as Ribbons of the Seven Stomachs. Sharon D. Clark also reprises her role as Graham's wife and Ryan's gran. Grace O 'Brien.
Speaker: Set in present -day Norway, the story sees team TARDIS check on the welfare of a blind girl living alone in terror of a creature lurking outside her cabin. They discover the real danger is inside, crossing a portal in a mirror into a dangerous buffer space between their world and a sentient parallel universe called the Solitract. At the climax of the episode, the 13th Doctor gently parts ways with the solid track, which has taken the form of a talking frog.
Speaker: In a lovely bit of lo -fi effect work, all the scenes in the Mirror Universe are flipped around, noticeable in backwards t -shirt logos and the Doctor's hair being parted on the other side. In Famous Firsts, Yaz is the first companion to suggest reversing the polarity of something Graham is the first companion to bring cheese and pickle sandwiches with him. And on an unrelated note, Ryan finally calls Graham grandad after resisting it for the whole series. ah
Speaker: Right then, let's get into this episode. And it's exciting because with the new who episodes we've done so far, it's like booked guests, it's all going to be good. And it's like, what do you think of this episode, guys? And she's like, we hate it. It'd been like, you know, what what sandwiches do you brought along for the ride? And they'd have gone, frog.
Speaker: um so So let's jump into it. Hannah, what do you think of this episode? so i'm I'm trying to imagine what sauce I'd put on a frog sandwich and like would you deep fry the frog's legs? Is it the whole frog or just the frog's legs?
Speaker: um um I imagine it's got... it should um I'm aiming for like the texture of... like a fish finger sandwich, which is actually probably a better like top tier. like favorite sandwich for me i'm still really thinking strongly about sandwiches clearly i mean i get the quiz at this point this is just a sandwich podcast now this is
Speaker: I want to talk to you for an hour about sandwiches. The episode though. but I've only recently started revisiting like... this era of jody because i kind of like dropped out halfway through the series originally and then when i kind of came back it was with proper renewed enthusiasm and i was like i am definitely in the right place for this uh yeah really enjoyed uh
Speaker: re -watching it as as well i'd completely forgotten half the stuff so it was a nice way to watch this kind of one um i liked the kind of horror movie vibes without them being too horror movie because it's not really my kind of like genre and So, yep, fake monster in the woods, cabin in the... um and wood a scary wardrobe but in the spare room that goes off to another... realm you know Nothing original whatsoever, but nonetheless still really enjoyable.
Speaker: um And I love the whole kind of idea of tempting people in. with your loved like your dead loved ones. And as soon as like we see Grace... We know she's dead. We know she's really dead. and It's not really about that. It's about that temptation so ah of it. And, you know, you you instantly kind of place yourself in that. that like Graham's shoes of what you do there.
Speaker: and and i'd always kind of thought yeah it was interesting for them to do a blind character and see how they'd ah play off on that. In some ways, I feel like her dad's a bit of a dick. I'm of basically deceiving like your like blind daughter. I i have i've serious questions there and feel that maybe the child service should be stuffing him when he gets back to Oslo. That backlash thing was a mad thing to me because he's he's plainly gone mad with grief. It's not like the behaviour of a normal person.
Speaker: It's ah like, say, keeping all the shoes and possessions of your exes in a storage locker somewhere. You know, it's something normal normal like get another chip ever sos you We need to escape. If you move to another town, you don't move to a cabin in the woods in the middle of nowhere where you can just sit and be with your grief with the only other person who is grieving the the person and a the same. but I was always relieved that they they decided to go back to Oslo. Like, that's it. Go and actually speak to normal people. and
Speaker: you know oh yeah Hannah's off as soon as they get back to Oslo Hannah's off she so she's she's getting her own little flat she's like yeah This this is my fate one of my favourite episodes of New Doctor Who. and and one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who.
Speaker: uh it is what i wanted the tribunal era to be more like uh when i and i i love the tricks that it plays i love the um the unusual structure that it has i love how it leans into the nor the whole norse vibe of ah and of a story that isn't you meet some people and they're doing a thing and then the thing's bad and so you stop it you know it's got
Speaker: chambers it's a story that leads you through it you've got the whole bit in the interzone and i once read it One review said, it's quite good apart from all that padding in the interzone. Oh my god! Is ah is is is the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe quite good apart from that boring wardrobe? if they decide but I saw one that said, um it's it overcomes its tonal incongruities to be quite a good episode. I'm like, no! That's the point. and's It's full of incongruities. That's why I love it. If you want to go deep on it, it's about mental health. It's about grief, and it's grief that takes you away. that that figure is just a victim of it, and another who is not as strong as Graham. But even Graham would have succumbed to it.
Speaker: were it not for um for what happens at the end where it gives itself away. It's the only episode of Doctor Who that has ever made me cry.
Speaker: because when I saw there was that bit and I say this as someone who as ah as a nine -year -old who was eight -year -old who was dumbfounded by the death of Adric and shocked and traumatized but I didn't actually have tears on my face but when I watched this After all, because you remember, there was a lot of hyper, there was a trailer that came out, I think, mid -season. And it included the shot of Jodie kissing goodbye and sadly backing away. And there was speculation that that could be how, oh, this is this how a friendship with Yaz is going to end? And that it turned out to be a fucking lonely frog on a chair. Yeah. It just got me.
Speaker: That poor little frog's all on his own! So. Yeah, I quite like this one.
Speaker: It is a thing of... Actually, I love the way of putting it, like that there's chambers to it. There's that, you know, if if we're talking about it in classical terms, it's like you can see where the cliffhangers... would go.
Speaker: In this, you can see that it sort of moves, but it condenses it down to 45 minutes. And and yeah, I love all the ideas in it because people have said, oh, it's a bit Stranger Things and that the anti -zone is a bit...
Speaker: stranger things like right but Here's the thing, here's the streaming version of It Takes You Away. from Season one, they don't find the mirror. Like the end of season one is they go through the mirror. know It's not until season five, you know, the finale, it's in cinemas and everyone's furious that it's a frog in a chair after watching all of it. What Doctor Who can be is something different every week. You know, it can you can hop between hop between genres. Thank you, frog jokes. There'll be more of those. um it can It can change genres every week, but it can you can get through it quickly. I'd love, like you said, Pete.
Speaker: i'd love if more of the the chip or era was was like this if there was this much. conceptually crammed into it instead of sort of things to cut away to yeah as much as i like it i've never sat there thinking i just wish it was 35 hours long and took 10 years you have to get on with it they have to teach shelly while working at the end yeah Ryan's about 50 by the time it finishes
Speaker: Favorite characters, favorite moments in this? that The sandwich moment is quite high up there. It's a really definitive Graham moment, isn't it? and yeah And it's funny that they shot this second, but I think but i think that's just because of Sharon.
Speaker: D. Clarke's availability. I think it was always meant to be near the end. But they're all they're all really fresh. They're only just... Yeah, this is the first. filming after the after the Premiere. And there's not many, there's only four members of the guest cast, isn't there? I mean, obviously, and yeah, ha what's her name is Hannah, is is who it all hinges on, and she's she's great. as If she was crap, it wouldn't work at all.
Speaker: I think Jodie's really good in this too. There's a couple of moments where the quirk is turned dialed up a bit too high. There's a really nice bit about... um i want you to follow this nutter into the dark uh she says in the uh she's leading him to danger and but one and then there's a there's a bit with the frog later as well where she well where she's where she talks about how you feed on my experiences she offers herself as a sacrifice and it feels really sincere and not megalomaniacal as it would have done if it was one of her predecessors
Speaker: Howdy. I feel Pete's just nicked all the good bits there. But I was going to say, yeah, get the girl who plays... Hannah, I... i It's...
Speaker: what The script works well, nice. That. She's there like as the only guest character on her own um initially. um I think often when you've got like young child actors or you know teenagers, they're kind of overshadowed by like the people playing parents, guardians or whatever, but she gets that separation first. yeah and is is is good it sort allows her so to sort do more like on her own
Speaker: Yeah, it's a really good point. Yeah, that she's because it's already such a large... regular cast yeah she really stands out and i'd agree with that but it would be remiss of me not to say that both my favorite character and moment are ah ribbons of the seven stomachs
Speaker: played by the actor Kevin Eldon. The amazing actor Kevin Eldon. Graham's saying he thinks of wee and he just goes, it's not my wee. No explanation of that. What a weird character. who was shot like I don't think you get ah a Doctor Who.
Speaker: Like and and a new Doctor Who monster. like villain as good as that again until you get like swarm and as you were in flux like i'd have liked more of that through these through this yeah yeah and like why are you here i've always been here or something like that And and he's gone before the halfway mark, which makes such an impression. That always surprises me. I think it highlights we don't really have, I guess, scary monsters in this episode. It's like...
Speaker: Anything scary is... not real it's all on atmosphere um but sort of yeah the the actual monsters aren't monsters they're just Quite interesting aliens.
Speaker: yeah and yeah and you get that sudden height complete pivot into high concept sci -fi at the end which when you're watching the first 20 minutes you're not expecting this is going to go anywhere in that direction at all and that's what i love that's why you know when people say oh there's a tonal shift It's like, well, yes.
Speaker: And it's a good one, it actually. the This one I like. yeah You know, they realise that Treen and Grace aren't real. they I was almost like i expecting them to suddenly, you know, like bare teeth and ah like turn into like the villains, but they don't. They just, you know.
Speaker: push them away. and But they still cease seem... really calm and just are just you know carrying him on as normal which is you know almost more like unnerving really.
Speaker: The only thing I don't like about... this I mean, people complain about the frog in the chair, the the bit that annoys me. It's the bit where the Doctor just sort of remembers. and reels off everything that it is rather than There's more interesting ways to do that. like I love the out of the episode Flatline.
Speaker: But I kind of love it because there isn't a bit in the middle where Peter Capaldi goes, ah, yeah, the bornless. I remember them. Here's what they are. here what So, you know, it's it's such an odd thing. That's the only, like, crutch I think sort of stock Doctor Who scene in the middle of what is otherwise like a...
Speaker: startlingly original. And it is because it's just doing so much. difference. We're all surprised to find that a sentient universe has taken the form of a frog in a chair. But is it surprising to arrive at this point in the podcast and find that It Takes You Away has taken the form of a game show?
Speaker: Well, here are the first question. it Is this a form that delights us? So before we get started, um you're going to be working together. um So do you want to come up with a team name? Pete, have you got any ideas? I've got one. and and if you you Have you got one, Hannah? We haven't discussed this in advance. because that would be I've got one, yeah. Yeah. Okay, well, well mine is... I'm... Christians. so it's like amphibians but with the fib changed into a quiz because of The frog.
Speaker: See? man That was me. Bye. ahve I've got The Fjord Doctors. Yeah, that's better. That's definitely better. Are you going with the George Doctors then? Yes, please.
Speaker: Terrific. Pete and Hannah will work together through the first four rounds before going head to head to decide a winner of this week's episode. Pete, Hannah, what would you both do if you won some money today? I'll come to you, Hannah, first. but... Just bought a house, so... I'd probably pay a plasterer Nice. And Pete?
Speaker: i would um I would get an upgrade on my on my flights on my upcoming visit. I'm actually going to Oslo in a few weeks time. Stop. I would use my, if you're offering, that's great. You never told me that. I can't help with that, but I've got my fingers crossed for you. As as always, there's no cash prize on the first question. I just thought I'd ask. or you would do if you want somebody to do. After this, you know I'm the Gordon Brown glyph GIF slamming my laptop shut and walking kick off now.
Speaker: But we have got a whole bunch of prizes for the games we're going to play in this Norwegian house, this house of games, if you can imagine such a thing. Take a look over here. We have a wheelie suitcase set with a frog on it. That's how I thought of a frog on it.
Speaker: A deck chair with a frog on it. There's a onesie with a frog on it.
Speaker: uh What do you both like the look of? When you say the Dutch has got a frog on it, is the frog actually sat on the chair? Or is it a chair with pictures of frogs? Or both! It's a deck chair with a picture of a frog on it. Pete, surely you need the wheelie luggage at this point. Actually, that's true, yeah. I'll use it for my upcoming trip. You can have the wheelie luggage and I'll have the deck chair sitting at home. Fantastic. In my house with no furniture. Okay, so maybe a deck chair, maybe a wheelie suitcase. We'll find out who wins what and who wins it all. It's almost time to start the quiz.
Speaker: Can our contestants make it through the anti -zone? Do they know their geography, backwards and forwards? And will one of them finally call me Grandad? There's only one way to find out. And it's after this break.
Speaker: The ultimate sonic screwdriver! This amazing set includes three sonic screwdrivers! Mix and match the sections with over 80 combinations, including multiple rights and sound effects.
Speaker: Have hours of fun with the Doctor Who Personalize Your Sonic Screwdriver Set From Character When your chair leg makes this noise Go to the furniture repairers. However, if it's your leg, go to A and &E or call 999 as soon as possible Lurking, lurking, lurking!
Speaker: Norge, Norge, Norge!
Speaker: Dra på tur i eget hjemland Zalem des nef til nur kap Elir kanşı bari giren lan Liar, liar, boobie! Just call me mobile! logo logo logo gopofin .no
Speaker: So I says to him, if you think I'm going there with your mother, on me holidays you've got another thing coming. A two -man tent in Fyla, it's February, and she texts up two spaces as it is.
Speaker: it takes you away the game show the podcast This is round one. It's called, What Are You Doing Here? which is you know other than doctor who the most common question in all of doctor who Pete and Hannah are backpacking through Europe and they've found themselves in nowhere. They're in the middle of the woods. They find a sheep that looks a bit Dutch.
Speaker: That could be something that comes back in a later story. Who knows? You look around, you see the fjords, you see the trees, and you wonder, day isn't it a amazing how so much of earth really looks like South Wales?
Speaker: Yeah. Anyway, you know your geography, you've travelled the world, you know you know what you're doing um here, but you find a cabin with... no smoke coming from the chimney in the middle of winter and if you have to investigate Because you've both seen Doctor Who. You know how this goes. You you know how this... I was spun so.
Speaker: However, you've arrived long before the 13th Doctor or any of her companions have. you just You've just arrived at this house where there's something going on. And you're going to have to quiz your way through it to you meet the girl who lives there. And she's a blind girl. She's never known everyone. And what she wants to do really is ask you some geography questions. and Lots and lots of geography questions.
Speaker: She's bored shitless, isn't she? She really is. She's got one bright little book and it's a fucking book quiz book of geography.
Speaker: It's the only way. As travellers in time and space and Europe, you know a bit about geography, but more importantly, as Hannah and Pete, contestants on this podcast... You know a bit about Doctor Who too.
Speaker: you'll take it in turn so you can answer the first question for two points Or if you don't know it, you can ask for the Doctor Who related question with the same answer. for one point. I'll ask both questions, but if you lock in your answer at two points, you'll get two points. Does that sound okay?
Speaker: I am not confident of my geography knowledge at all at the moment. it's gonna be fine there will be doctor who questions all the way you're working together so all the points go in the pot so hannah your name's first alphabetically so we'll start with you not Right.
Speaker: What was the tallest mountain on earth before Mount Everest was discovered? what was the tallest mountain on earth before mount everest was discovered for two points I feel like it's probably one that's near Mount Everest.
Speaker: But I I haven't, I haven't, I guess. can Can we confer? No. No, on this one. Your second turn's on this one, Pete. We're going to have to go for the Doctor Who question.
Speaker: You go for the Doctor Who question. So for one point, in Joy to the World, the 15th Doctor steals some rope from an expedition on which mountain? What? Is that one not Everest? Are you going with that first?
Speaker: Also go - Oh, don't go with Everest then, yeah. It is Mount Everest. Mount Everest was still the tallest mountain on Earth before our Mount Everest was discovered. It just hadn't been discovered. Oh, you... Jesus. Okay, right. This is it. Okay. Yeah.
Speaker: Right, let's fucking smash this now. Okay. Classic pub quiz question to start off. Peace. In which city was the World Wide Web invented? For two points, in which city was the World Wide Web invented?
Speaker: It's the United Kingdom and it's... um It's what's his face? Tim Berners -Lee. Coming up out of a little thing at the 2012 Olympics, everyone forgets that he came out of the thing and waved. Um. And. So I'm stalling.
Speaker: Because I think it's... It's Cambridge Raw. I think it's... is Cambridge or Oxford? I don't... know of a Doctor Who question. The answer to which would be Oxford. So... I'm going to.
Speaker: Guess. That it's Cambridge? For one point, your Doctor Who question. First mentioned in Speed Ahead From Space. Which city is home to Unit Central Control?
Speaker: Ooh. So it's maybe, I don't know. of something ahead. Are you not the trap one podcast? Where's unit central for control? I know this, Pete. I know this. I knew but i knew your first answer was wrong as well. was Oh, right. So it's Geneva then. Oh, it's Geneva. Yeah.
Speaker: Geneva. Geneva is correct for one point. Hannah. Which US state is the only known place on Earth where crocodiles and alligators share a habitat?
Speaker: which the US state is the only known place on Earth where crocodiles and alligators share a habitat, for two points. I am trying to think. about Live and let die.
Speaker: when Roger Moore has to run across the backs of either crocodiles or alligators. Maybe both. I'll go with the Doctor Who question because I'm not certain. we' got The Doctor Who question for one point.
Speaker: The opening of Empress of Mars takes place at the Kennedy Space Center in which U .S. state? Oh see now this is what I was kind of leading towards before. Sasha, I think I'm going to...
Speaker: switch it to Florida. Florida is correct for Wampite. Okay. Beats. Which city is the capital of Queensland, Australia? Which city is the capital of Queensland, Australia? For two points. It's Sydney or Melbourne. Oh, God. i' spent four years doing Blake Seven podcasts with the Australians. I can't remember which one they were in. that they were they were Mostly, but I've been to Melbourne. never been to Sydney and Melbourne I think.
Speaker: <unk> Yeah, so I'm leaning towards Melbourne being the one that's in Queensland. Although I could be completely right. but I've got it in my head that Melbourne and Sydney, one of them is Queensland and the other one is New South Wales. I was completely wrong. with my initial supposition last time. So I'll have the Doctor Who question, please. Doctor Who question for one point. Tegan, your vanker originally comes from which city?
Speaker: Oh, fucking Adelaide. You said that so confidently, I'm going to check out I've got the right answers now. Oh, in that case, I'm pausing. No, she didn't, did she? did she He's from... No, she's from up north. She's from... Oh, because Queensland isn't the one on the south.
Speaker: Ugh. I don't mean Adelaide, I mean that other one. Oh no, is that just where Janet feels? No, hope the farm, it's... that's two That's not a capital. We don't have to hurry yet. ah Oh, um i've got i've got I don't know. I've got all flustered. but I'm going to go Melbourne. I'm flustered all over the place. I'm going Melbourne. you' go Melbourne, it's the wrong answer. It is Brisbane.
Speaker: praise but that's what i meant yeah that that is literally what i was trying to and i couldn't get adelaide out of my head And Queensland is not where I thought it was. and No points for that one, I'm afraid. ah Hannah. Which Norwegian city is famously called the Tiger City? which Norwegian city is famously called the Tiger City.
Speaker: I feel I should know more than one Norwegian city. Okay. But don't think I do. um So I am just going to have to go with Oslo.
Speaker: and see what the Doctor Who question throws. You're with Oslo for two points. Let's see what the Doctor Who question was. For one point, in The Seeds of Death, the Ice Warriors dispatch seed pods to which Norwegian city?
Speaker: Are you sticking with us, though? Yeah, this still is not helping me come up with any more Norwegian cities. Yeah, the Doctor Who question is a lot harder, I would say, than the two -pointer on this one. Who wrote these? Oslo was indeed the answer for two points. Hooray! First Norway a question as well. Let's have another Norway question. Peace.
Speaker: Yes. Every year since 1947, Norway has traditionally presented the United Kingdom with what? Every year since 1947, Norway has traditionally presented the United Kingdom with what?
Speaker: We're completely ungrateful. shit about it and always put shitty memes on um ah about it but that's that's londoners and It is a Christmas tree of the kind that would have killed Jackie Tyler. You've locked in Christmas tree. Your Doctor Who question is...
Speaker: Complete the Jackie Tyler quote from a 2005 episode. to I'm going to get killed by her. Christmas tree! It is Christmas tree for two points. I feel like I've redeemed myself slightly for forgetting about the existence of Brisbane now. I won't sleep tonight because of that. Hi there. Which Scandinavian country has the oldest monarchy in Europe?
Speaker: Which Scandinavian country has the oldest monarchy in Europe? For two points. I'm trying to think which ones will count as Scandinavian countries. like if It's not Norway. I don't feel like it.
Speaker: Like Sweden. michael or finland But I'm kind of chucking towards Denmark, so... I'm going to go with Denmark. Going with Denmark. The Doctor Who question for one point would be...
Speaker: In the whaling space, Zoe mistakenly thinks Jamie is from which country? I think I'll stick with this. I've still not entirely sure. Stick them with that mark. It is Denmark, 2 .2 Denmark. Hooray! Hooray! I feel like Sandy Toksvig had mentioned the...
Speaker: the danish monarchy at some point so yeah okay And last question of this round, Pete. Fire away. Which is the only sovereign country in the world that doesn't have red?
Speaker: white or blue. on its flag. For two points. Which is the only sovereign country in the world that doesn't have the colours red, white or blue on its flag? Is it going to be a micro state? Or is it just going to be something really obvious?
Speaker: It's nowhere that we've owned. ah It's... um, It's not the Vatican. so Okay, I'm going around the Eurovision scoreboard first, which is always the best place to start with important... It's a great visual question for a podcast, this as well. It is. like which is they what know What's Tibet? tibet it Tibet is kind of groovy, although... they don't get to be sovereign anymore. Um, It's not Norway.
Speaker: I'm not good on African flags. I've noticed this on TV. No, I'm going to, yeah, I don't know yet. I need another question, please. Go for the Doctor Who question for one point. In War of the Sontarans, Mary Seacole was born in which country?
Speaker: Yes, the famous War of the Sontarans character, Mary Seacole, was born in which country? Oh, bad bad person can't remember. If it's Jamaica.
Speaker: Go on, Jamaica. Jamaica's the first place it sprung to mind, but... Yeah, jama I'll go Jamaica. It is Jamaica. hey but One point for Jamaica. Because what's their flag? Red.
Speaker: No. what's what what okay what got answer if What is it? Gold, green, black and yellow. Bye. Right, so that's the end of that round and you scored 10 points. the little blind girl who lives in the cabin is not that impressed with you and just in general this this sort of game that go on in houses format makes sure you want a head button a mirror um so you both do And you go straight through the mirror.
Speaker: Into round two! I'm changing my parting. I'm changing my parting as we speak. Okay.
Speaker: Rank 2 It's called Norway. Oh yes we're.
Speaker: charge it through the mirror you find yourself in a strange um dry icy proper classic hoe looking zone an anti -zone of some kind if you'd like you meet of um you meet a big Gribbly guy, like an absolute creep. like it's all creepers like guy just lotus around Drinking wee, not his wee. Just generally being terrible. in he We've been at conventions with him. You're ahead of me. You're ahead of me. He wheels his chair around from where he's posting in the general disdain thread on Gallifrey Base to greet you. With the game of trivia. and There's lots of games of trivia going on in this and this house. it's It's odd that isn't it? Someone should make a format out of that.
Speaker: Anyway, you get through and Ribbons of the Seven Stomachs, he needs feeding, he's feeding delicious. information. and However... He's got trivia questions of his own and he just he just can't be trusted. as this thing um He's really inconsistent from one... scene to the next.
Speaker: So in this round you're going to get some facts about Norway. There may or may not be true facts about Norway because ribbons can't be trusted. So you can confer on this one because it's dangerous in here. You really need to think about how you progress based on what this... um what this goblin is telling you You need a five facts about Norway, so you have to decide whether they are true or false. Remember, you're in the anti -zone, so if it's false, you say Norway.
Speaker: And if it's true, you say, yes, we're. Even though the truth things are actually about Norway because ribbons is tricksy and tedious like that. You get two points per correct answer. Again, you may confer on this one. Would you like to hear Rivens' first fact?
Speaker: Hit us with your fact. Is it a fact, though? that's that's yeah but Good looking out, Pete. Here you go. Here's your first fact. In Norway... All right, that's ribbons. That's ribbons. He talks like, in no way.
Speaker: It's illegal to mow your lawn on Sundays. Is that Norway or is that Yesway? Ahhhh! This is... um I've heard this thing like about and I don't know if it's actually illegal but like in Germany I know they're very like anti -noise on a Sunday and I have great admiration for this kind of respect that lets people have a lie -in on a Sunday. I wouldn't be surprised if it... That would be true. but Is it?
Speaker: Yeah. I mean, It sounds a bit much saying you're not allowed to do that. on the whole day. But also, it's Norway. How how many months of the year is it actually viable to mow your lawn? Yeah. I mean, they do they are quite they've got some quite resid strong residual.
Speaker: sort of sunday trading laws are strict and alcohol trading laws are strict so they are they do have strict laws but that one sounds a bit too strict to me I think it seems perfectly reasonable. Okay. But you're not the king of Norway.
Speaker: Yet. By the end of this quiz, we never know. It's not one of the prices, but it could happen. Stranger things have happened. If I sit in that deck chair, I'm declaring myself. and i'm ah yeah I'm banning mowing lawns on Sundays.
Speaker: What were you thinking, Norway or yesterday? I'm really swayed by the fact that I want it to be true. yeah Well, I'm not 100%. I'm just... spitballing so should we okay Should we give it a go? Should we say yes, it is true?
Speaker: We're not saying it's yesterday. That's me asking Hannah. I think we should, yeah. Okay, let's do it. Let's let's be bold. Is it true it's true? Is it? Is it Norway? So false. Oh, like yes. Oh, we've got it. So yeah.
Speaker: ah ah I ah forgot. I got mixed up really quickly which way around it was. We're in the anti -zone. It's, ah yeah. But we're saying yes way it's true that you can't mow your lawn on a Sunday in Norway. Think of it more as Norway or yes way but Norway or yes way.
Speaker: Yes way. So you're saying yes or it's true? Yes way, yes way, yes way. No way. It's Switzerland. Yeah, Switzerland, where noisy chores are banned on Sundays as a result of laws that started in the village of Langnau and spread nationwide. Oh, so it is a thing. It's Switzerland I've got to move to. Which handily meant they were also a lot less noisy than in the UK about their decision to broadcast Series 11 on Sundays. Like if anyone.
Speaker: Bless. And anyway, that's probably why Remington's on Gallifrey base. Anyway. Norway has the longest coastline in Europe. He said Norway has the longest coastline in Europe. Is that Norway or Yesway?
Speaker: I mean, all those squiggly bits round the... Slutty Bartvast wasn't... beating himself up. There's so much intricate, they've got a coastline that comes many miles inland. because Because the coast goes all the way through. So I'm trying to think who could possibly have more. i mean Like the UK for one.
Speaker: Yeah. We've got nothing but coastline. We've not got, yeah, but we've not got fjords. But we haven't... but But... They've only got it up one side. which is a disadvantage. isn it's not i talking about Of course, we we're only talking about the left -hand side of Scandinavia. I don't think there's any other places it could be. I think if you're measuring as a straight line on a map...
Speaker: around like the shape of Norway. then the UK has definitely got more. But if you're going into every little fjord and rivulet and going round and round and round... Do you think we've got, like...
Speaker: little inny bits as well. Well, we've got tiny T's, but it's not a fjord, is it? Um... Peace. Are you going with Norway or Yes Way?
Speaker: Norway. no i No way. Ribbons?
Speaker: Yes way. It's yes way. no right next question whatever my hunch is we are going with even if i only have 10 confidence in it You are still lost in in this geography, I suppose. But yeah, I think fjords, islands, and a whole lot of rocks. Norway has the second longest coastline in the world after Canada, so it's the longest coastline in Europe. Danielle. We should be counting the T's. You got any more for us, Rippins? No way.
Speaker: This is the annual award ceremony for the Nobel Peace Prize. Hmm, let's address it Norway holds the annual award ceremony for the Nobel Peace Prize. Is that Norway or Yes Way?
Speaker: I'm saying nothing this time. I haven't even got... Well, I mean, it they invented it. I mean, Mr. Nobel was Norwegian, wasn't he? Unless they're going, but do they? Fuck off to Geneva. No, I think it's, yeah, okay. the The Pete hunch this time is saying they do.
Speaker: because It's their thing. They invented it. Why would they go anywhere else? okay maybe there's some united nations thing might ive i I've no idea. Let's yes way this one then. Let's yes way. You're going with yes way. You're going with Pete's hunch this time.
Speaker: All right. yeah It's a bold strategy. Let's see who works out for you. Rippins? Yes way. It was yes way. The other five Nobel Prizes are awarded in Sweden.
Speaker: But this one's awarded in Oslo, the Tiger City, from earlier. I think Rivens has got a couple more facts for you. Yes. Best way. All right. Okay, everyone. See you. Go ahead. ah It's sounding very Northern this week.
Speaker: In terms of population. Norway is the median European Union member state. Hmm, that's interesting. In terms of population, Norway is the median European Union member state. Is that Norway or Yesway? God, I feel like I'm having bloody GCSE maths trying to remember which... ones the median the main.
Speaker: Norway isn't in the European Union. Oh. Mr. Ribbons. hey He's taking the piss in all ways. Not my piss. It's not even his own. Yeah.
Speaker: What are you going with? No way or yes way? Norway then, isn't it? You going with Norway, ribbons? No way. Yeah, you're right. sir Norway is not a member of the European Union. hey And in any case... They'd be in the lower half ah between Ireland and Finland, just like on actual maps. That's how you remember that.
Speaker: I mean, no.
Speaker: I think Revenants has got one more for you. Yes way. Okay, go on Revenants. Oh boy. The ceremonial role of Colonel -in -Chief of the Norwegian Kingsguard is currently held by a reindeer.
Speaker: Hmm, the ceremonial role of the Colonel -in -Chief of the Norwegian Kingsguard is currently held by a rentier. Is that Norway or Yesway? I mean, it's quirky. They're a quirky bunch. And that's the sort of thing they would do.
Speaker: But could this be one of your tricksy questions? And it's actually not a reindeer. It's a different type of deer. the But it's a ceremonial post. I'm kind of leaning towards it Hey. being true.
Speaker: Yeah, me too. Okay. I'll combine that. Yes way. Yes. Yes way. You're going with yes way. Ribbons? No way. No way. nothing else What is that?
Speaker: It's a squirrel. If you've been to Edinburgh Zoo. Brigadier Sir Nils Olav III is the Colonel -in -Chief of the Norwegian Kingsguard and he is a penguin. He's the third Penguin to have been knighted as Colonel -in -Chief of Norwich in Kingsguard. Which is nice, isn't it?
Speaker: They got invaded very quickly by the Nazis. It didn't take long at all. So in that round, she got eight points. Ribbons slammed close his laptop and he's just started chasing you through the anti -zone. You have no information to give him like you and you've also fallen for all his tricks. that's he It's just really tedious like this. But Pete, since you did worse, you you get cut off and Hannah just runs off without you and to make it out of the anti -zone into the next part of the quiz.
Speaker: Round 3A It's called Ye -we -we -skitty. Which is, it takes you a away backwards. Hannah, you find your way through to the mirror universe. You find Pua grieving Eric.
Speaker: coping with his grief by ah you retreating into a fantasy world that he's been seduced into by a sentient universe. What a bastard. Anyway, while you're here, everything is so sort of... subtly flipped.
Speaker: you know it's um that's ah you know whether it's whether it's logos on t -shirts or, you know, the the general trajectory of this quiz. You've got some questions coming up. This is going to be timed. We're going to time how long it takes you to answer these five questions, Hannah. Oh, fuck. You're in. don Don't pressure. Don't pressure. We're just going to tie. We'll be fine. You're in the Mirror Universe, so if, for instance, I asked you for the episode after it takes you away, you'd say, Kolosav Ransku of Battlethorpe.
Speaker: Because that's what it is with all the words in reverse order. Basically, all your answers in this round should be the other way around. I would also would have accepted keyboard over walks cats of Battleback. I'm really glad that's not going to be an actual question now, at least. Yeah, let's stay from that. You ready, Hannah?
Speaker: No! Go on anyway. If you don't know, you can pass, which backwards is just pass. So that's fine. Your time starts. Now. The story Gridlock is set in Witch Alien City.
Speaker: Earth noo -noo It's York New New. Augh! In Revenge of the Cybermen, which Somerset location was used for the filming of scenes on Forga?
Speaker: whole wookie Correct. Me! and Which Doctor Who story starts in the Pamir Mountains and ends in Peking?
Speaker: Polo mark. Need a little bit more. Just follow my ghost craft. In filming locations, which country doubled for San Francisco in Spyfall, Alabama in Rosa, and the planet Desolation in the Ghost Monument?
Speaker: Africa South Correct. What is the name of the fictional Italian Ducci? in the mask of mandragora Pass. And that's time. So you pass the duchy on the right hand side, which is a lovely detail the viewers will pick up on repeat viewings. And the answer to that one was Martino San.
Speaker: In that event, you got three out of five and you finished in 58 seconds. Which brings us to Round 3B. It brings me back. still struggling in the mirror universe.
Speaker: Pete is running away from ribbons. He's running away from flesh moths. It's a full -on Scooby -Doo ass sort of like running around. It's a Scooby -Doo Bjork video crossover. it's Something like that, yeah.
Speaker: So as you run around, running away from ribbons and the flesh moths and to yourself, you have another opportunity to escape into the mirror universe with Hannah. I have some more questions for you, but they are, since we're in the anti -zone, anti -questions or anti -answers. There's some crucial detail of the question that's been flipped, so it's up to you to decipher them. and
Speaker: to figure out how to answer them best. but of color If I asked which episode comes before... It takes you away. You'd say the Battle of Ransko Ravkolos because it comes after. I'd also accept the Battle of Catwalks over Keyport.
Speaker: And since Hannah took 58 seconds with her five questions, you're going to have 58 seconds to answer yours. Oh. He'll stop the clock either when you've answered all five or when time runs out. Are you ready? No. Meaning yes. Nice, you got it already. Your time starts now. Pete, which 2014 episode features scenes set the furthest south in all of Doctor Who on TV? Take your time. You've got time. um the The squillion docked. No, no. a squillion times upon a time.
Speaker: I fucking love it. David Bradley. It's Last Christmas, which is set in the North Pole. Oh! Which Doctor Who spin -off series filmed key scenes in Monarcha? The Wolves in London thing.
Speaker: Correct. Filmed in Mallorca. Once found at a school in Middlesex, which Doctor Who villain was famously played by Cyril Luckham? Um, um, um... I think that...
Speaker: The school in Middlesex? Um... Dumb. I don't know what else to say, but was cool. Pass. It's the Black Guardian. Sarah, look and play the White Guardian. Oh, for God's sake! Witch Doctor Who's story starts on Pete's world and ends in Jackie Taylor's flat.
Speaker: Um... One of the ten in finale.
Speaker: Th -th -th - And that's time. Who live in your army of ghosts. Yes, I was. Ouch. Starts on Jackie Tyler's flat and ends on Pete's world.
Speaker: What an annoying mount. no I... Yeah. but strangely invigorating. I would blame Hannah for not giving you a lot more time to answer that round, but there you are. Five questions in a minute, Pete.
Speaker: uh pete you finish your argument with ribbons about orphan 55 by shoving him into a cloud of flesh moths who devour him and you somehow make it through to the mirror universe Go to Natal! You're not in a good way.
Speaker: But as as Pete hobbles with flesh moths eating limbs off him and bits of his face into the mirror universe where... um he flips over if so it goes from being absolutely rattles to absolutely fine we somehow fight our way through to round number four.
Speaker: Round four is called rainbow connection Hey ho, this is the Solid Tract, welcome to my universe! Oh, well, that's one way of doing it in an audio format. that All right. Well, that's a solid trick talking.
Speaker: um This is the Solitract universe. The Solitract loves colliding things that don't go together. In fact, as soon as you're in his universe, you notice you start glitching. Your hand is just glitching because you're in another universe. But yeah, the Solitract loves smashing things that don't go together, smashing answers together, if you will.
Speaker: So in this house of games, what we're going to do is smash some answers together. And I'm going to give you two questions. And when the answers are smashed together, it'll be really interesting and fun. Is that all sound okay to you?
Speaker: Yeah, I'm so glad that Bill Gates has dropped in to join us.
Speaker: I'm going to have to referee this in some way or other. We can't just talk to the Frock of Hotel. Because the hand ain't listening. you're gonna get two clues two different things that smash in the middle of you um If it was Praxis in Uzbekistan, it would be Praxis Uzbekistan, for instance.
Speaker: that's yeah only right I do watch Only Connect and I never get any of these right. but You can confer on these ones and this will get quite over. So hey ho, would you like to hear my rainbow connections? I'm going to give you a geography clue and a 13th Doctor episode clue. And you have to connect them together in the middle.
Speaker: Number one. The oldest city in Wales and a story set in the Tranquility Spa. The oldest city in Wales and a story set in a tranquility spa. Hmm. St David's, the oldest city in Wales. No, that's the smallest.
Speaker: uh so off fun fifty five What ends in fan? or oldest city in well or car is is car de forfen 65 55 get the numbers right no that That's not it.
Speaker: ah No. I've tried to think of what I know... Nani? Welsh place names but I'm struggling to think which ones sort of qualifiers. ah all cities, but I suppose then it's... i so they have a cathedral Well, he's going to be being altered. i imagine ultra literal and it's going to mean it's got to have had to have the certification Which you, which...
Speaker: Can happen without a cathedral. but that doesn't Me saying that doesn't help, I'm just... filling. on my brain. doesn't do it I'm far more so just going through Welsh players' names that could go either before or after this.
Speaker: I'm gonna have to hurry you. go ah ye What ends it all? Whilst time ends in awe! Oh, Bangorphin55!
Speaker: Bunga! Bangor 555. He waves his little arms in the air. I'm doing it now. This is disturbing. Oh man. I hope Disney doesn't even know about Doctor Who, otherwise this could get hairy.
Speaker: Let's see who's got another one. Number two. The largest city in Morocco. And a story with a question in its title. The largest city in Morocco and a story with a question in its title.
Speaker: Well, go story with a question in this title, it's easier. what What stories have got questions in their title? Yes, it's so much harder for eras where I didn't have like the full list of stories printed off and ah posted on my bedroom wall. I've got the little Doctor Who monthly thing that ends with Logopolis somewhere. Everything since then is a footnote. Oh, come on. Which Jodie story has a question ear mark in its title? I don't think there's anything in the... In our first series, is there?
Speaker: Can you hear me? It's can you hear me? Oh, okay. So it's not Marrakesh.
Speaker: Can you hear America? It's not that. It's not the capital. That's the place where people go, but it's not the bit what's the capital. of market You can pass if you want to. I'm not being very helpful here. He's pleading with us to pass at this point. now lets to we pa okay Okay, let's pass. We're passing that one. i it passed so The Solid Tractor. Could you tell us about that one? Casablanca, can you hear me? hey It's Casablanca and you hear me, of course. Watched the movie one week ago and forgot it existed. What an annoying format.
Speaker: Number three. The island where Prince Philip was born And a story featuring Ruth Clayton. the island where Prince Philip was born, and a story featuring Ruth Clayton.
Speaker: He was born in... Was he born in Corfu? No, he was born in one of the Greek islands. Oh, there's a lot of them. Let's go through them all. we could just break we could just If we can get the Doctor Who question, we can just go to the Greek islands. That Graham has a bit of a...
Speaker: thing a bit of ah a bit of a spark with. It's not, is it? It's not Future Civilization Dune, is it? Because then we could have... call fugitive of the judean Of course it is. Yes, Ruth is the fugitive god. Right, let's go incorporate it with Jadoon. The audience has gone wild. it is this car fugitive of the of the chiun oh oh shit oh well the whole place should have rain Oh my god, it swapped around the other way, so...
Speaker: Yeah. we've we've flipped around so yeah it's still going to be anti -smash but this time it's the 13th doctor story first is that all right so that's really better off For the rest of these, you're just going to get a setting.
Speaker: for a Doctor 13th Doctor episode and then a Geographic clue. There we go. Okay. Number four The city of Sheffield? And the second largest country in Europe.
Speaker: The city of Sheffield? and the second largest country in Europe. which Which stories have we got set in Shatterfield? Um, Arachnids in the Ukraine!
Speaker: YAAAAAAA - It is Iraq and it's in the Ukraine. He he seems happy with that. All right, let's see if he's got any more. Number five. Oh, he's got some more. Number five.
Speaker: The Planet Time. and the location of Brunel University. The planet time and the location of Brunel University. Brunel is like wireless voice. Peace. It's a poster A little old.
Speaker: Bristol. Let's... Let's...
Speaker: but the But the planet time is in... um blog It's in Flux. Okay. But... I'm guessing we might need to be more specific than that. Fluxton, is it? Fluxton? No. Um,
Speaker: Okay. Okay. We'll pass, we'll pass, we'll pass. Come on, we'll pass. Your life's too short. Shall we pass? All right, you're going to pass. Solid Strike, what were you on about there? Fox Bridge. Fluxbridge. Brunel University must be in Uxbridge.
Speaker: Come on, there's got to be one more and then that's it. One more? Okay, one more. Number six. The planet Kandoka. And the capital city of the Netherlands.
Speaker: The planet Kandoka. and the capital city of the Netherlands. So it's The Hague. The Hague woman who fell to earth. ah Just to check before I pass it on to the solar tractor, are you going with the Higg woman that fell to us? No, we're bloody not.
Speaker: Okay. Uh... See? I have to hurry, is this universe is falling apart. There's got to be about a better story title.
Speaker: G -g -g... Good. I got nothing. Fast. No, no. I've got to pass. But I think the capital of the Netherlands is Amsterdam, isn't it? Solid track. COUPLE AMSTERDAM!
Speaker: Oh! You said it with such confidence. So there it is then. Solid Tracks Round. It's funny, isn't it? like In the obi episode, it's like... Soul Trek takes the form of a frog because it meets Grace, who loves frogs, so it becomes a frog. It's a form that delights it.
Speaker: and it's about you two who love the episode it takes you away so it's it's still a frog And even as I'm saying this, another form pops into your head. I think it's more Ghostbusters rules this. You see the frog start to morph into something more porcine and fabulous. This the universe is falling apart and you're falling apart. You're just sort of expelled.
Speaker: Like we're an outstretched hand and you sort of hear, HI! Yeah. And you both whacked. Box three to the mirror. Into your own universe. And we... know They are desperate to get rid of us.
Speaker: I thought after putting up with her, the solar track wants a bit of time to itself to reconsider whether it actually wants any friends. Yeah. It's possibly due to a quiz performance, but we'll count what your points when we get back through. um there's only me left and before i get karate chopped out i make eye contact with the solid tracks and the solid track says Well done if any of you got that in your universe.
Speaker: Round five is called found in translation I think you had a terrible ordeal in this cabin in the woods. You've stumbled, bruised, battered and not very good at quizzes out of the cabin and back into the Norwegian woods. as Sorry, no, that's the Beatles one again. um you decide to go your separate ways and interrail around the rest of europe
Speaker: Because walking and quizzing has not panned out for you. But you you're both still into Doctor Who. So in your separate train carriages, with your separate VPNs, you're rolling your way around Europe, watching episodes of Doctor Who on streaming. And all you have to do for this round is identify... What's the...
Speaker: Episode is from its European language title. Let's come to Pete first this time, because Hannah was first. And and as in the last as in the first round, you'll get a two -point question. I'll give you the title.
Speaker: and I'll give you what it means in English and the language. And if you're stuck, I'll give for themrefore one point, you can ask for two possible answers. and i'll give you and you tell me what you think so go strategic with this one you don't necessarily have to get it on the two point now uh but there's a multiple choice available if you want to go for one point so beat You decide you want to watch L 'Explosion Ducati.
Speaker: which is the explosion of Cardiff in French, whichever sorts that. Um, I mean, I've got to take that literally and go for Boomtown. You want with Boontown? Boontown. Can I get two points for that if it's right? It's correct. Two points. Hannah.
Speaker: You decided you want to watch... thick air. Dick Luft, which is German for thick air. Dick luft. I love you. Yeah. I like I'm running through a lot of options in my head here. I'm going to have to ask myself. Would you like to narrow it down to two options? Yes please.
Speaker: Okay, so for one point is Dick Luft. the suntaran stratagem or deep breath These were both the ones that I had in mind, so I was hoping one of them wasn't going to be in here. It's a real 50 -50 on who wants to be a millionaire. Those are your options. I'm going to go with Sontaran's strategy. Sontaran's strategy is correct for one point. Peace. Mmm. L 'Impero del Lupo.
Speaker: L 'Impero del Lupo, which is the Empire of the Wolves in Italian. So ah that obviously makes me think of... I can't remember the idea. Yeah, it's the one with the monks and the... Open the Queen Victoria. which is called which is called The... The... the Oh for God's sake.
Speaker: Sorry. you like Okay. Give me the two, please. Life's too short. those's options Okay. Your two options are Tooth and Claw or Empire of Death. two two two Which one? oh and birth de you go to the car it is difficult yeah yeah yeah Tooth and claw for one point.
Speaker: is correct. How now? in el ultimo momento. En el último momento, which is at the last moment in Spanish. I'm gonna have to go with a clue. you want with the clue so for one point is in el ultimo momento consecutive stories this the end of time or the 11th hour The 11th hour. It is the 11th hour for one point.
Speaker: Bates. LESTERICAN! de l 'étranger lucas L 'hysterique de l 'étrange lucan, which is the hysteria of the strange skylight in French. The hysteria of the strange skylight?
Speaker: um that maybe feels like a finale no i don't know i'll Go straight to the... multiple choice. but Please. So for one point it's Lesteric de cade la Tranche. lucan I'm mangling the pronunciation. Sorry, all our French listeners, all of them. The theory of the strange skylight. Is it the girl in the fireplace or the idiot's lantern?
Speaker: Oh, Idiot's Lantern then, I would guess. It is the idiot's landing for one point. Hi there. Patroni dell 'universo. padrone dell 'universo which is masters of the universe in italian
Speaker: i Give me the options. The options for Badroni del Universo, Masters of the Universe are Bad Wolf and the Parting of the Ways or The Stolen Earth and Journey's End. Stolen Earthen Journey's end.
Speaker: It's Batwolf and Parting of the Ways, unfortunately. One more each in this room because you're running out of Wi -Fi on these trains that you're on. Pete? Das Schattenquartier.
Speaker: Das Schattenquartier. which is the shadow quarter in German. Of course. Shut up. quarter no i don't i yeah clue give give me some clues please give me some choices Clues, for one point, is Das Schattenquartier, the Shadow Quarter in German, is it Silence in the Library or Face the Raven? I can imagine that being the name of the street that Face the Raven is set in in German, so I'm going to guess that one. For one point face, the Revan is correct.
Speaker: ah Last one of this round as is for you, Hannah. Eleni Sula Luna. Alien Isula Luna. aliens on the moon in italian Oh, what's the... Bloody... um Oh, kill the moon.
Speaker: You're going with Kill the Moon? Yeah. Okay, I can tell you your options, if you'd wait for that, would have been Smith and Jones or Kill the Moon. It's Smith and Jones, unfortunately. So, incorrect on that one. So, at the end of that round, Hannah, you have two points.
Speaker: But against all odds... He wins. Five points, Pete Lambert. It's not that unfeasible. You've come so far. You got mangled by a flesh boss.
Speaker: Cheers. Cheers. Today's big winner is Pete Lampet. Pete. Take a look at your cellar track themed prizes. What are you going for? The wheelie luggage? You're going for the deck chair? You're going for the whiskey What are you going for? I could imagine my OnlyFans followers would love the onesie, but I'm going for the the suitcase. Practical frog suitcases are what I need.
Speaker: As part of this podcast general purview. um we're pitching this geography themed game show for the tender for Doctor Who. like Stop trying to do it as a drama. Stop trying to do it as a kid's show. Bring it back as a wacky game show or whatever the hell this was. Do you think this is going to work? do you Do you think I've got a chance? You've got my vote, definitely. As long as I've got fucking David Tennant on it. Well, the BBC has stopped replying to my postcards from across Europe, apparently. But, you know...
Speaker: As always, they're all in they're all in the grasp of Big Osman. Anyway, quiz is over. Where can people find you two, if they so wish? Well, speaking of podcasts, we've got one that wish support that's having a little bit of a summer break ah called um called Cathode Rays, where we picked three episodes of... TV from the Cathode Ray era, as loosely as we want to define it, but they've got something in common. And sometimes with a guest, we... review them and and it's a nice little gateway into TV that's really good that we might have never got around to seeing.
Speaker: And also trap one, which is what we've got. our podcast wheels turning in the first place. Where can we find you at socials? I'm just Hannah Cooper on Blue Sky. that's Pretty much it these days. um I'm quite a mess.
Speaker: Oh, i' on Blue Sky. Also on Blue Sky. The only place we should be, yes. I'm just going to loop around. I am quite a mess. Great. This has been an adventure. Thank you both for coming along. Would you like before we sign off?
Speaker: which Would you like to call me Grandad? Would that be alright? granddad we love you granddad we love you granddad we do no that's the wrong song isn't it Right, this has been the first question and for now it's bye -bye Grandad from Pete. Bye -bye, Grandad. It's bye -bye, Grandad from Hana. Bye -bye, Grandad.
Speaker: And it's bye -bye Grandad from me. We'll be back next week for even more of The First Question.
Speaker: Harrison Mark, me by, produced and edited, written is question first. that come Excuse me, something came out the wrong way there. This podcast is 100 % unofficial and has no affiliation with the BBC, visit Norway, Disney or the actor Kevin Eldon.
