Welcome and Introduction

00:00:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Welcome, welcome, welcome, everybody. It is ah Monday. It is the 17th of November. You're very welcome. Wherever you are listening to the Daily Premier League podcast, we've had a bit of a rest over the international break, but we're back.
00:00:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're back refreshed, raring to go, and full of enthusiasm. My name's Ken Davis. His name, that guy there with the headphones on, is Nick Britton. And a very warm welcome to all our listeners, particularly those who make listening Daily Premier League Podcast part of their everyday listening routine. It's a cold November evening.
00:00:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
We hope we're going to be able to warm you up. Nick, how are you doing, mate?
00:00:54
Nick Britten
Very well, thank you very much. Yeah, I mean, everybody hates the international break, but actually we like the international break because it means World Cup football. And we've been doing our World Cup podcast, so we've been keeping a very close eye on all the international games.
00:01:06
Nick Britten
But it's great to have the Premier League back again. It does feel, from a league perspective, it's quite a slog, isn't it? It's quite hard work when there's no football on.
00:01:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
and We don't like it because no there's no football in the championship either. So we're all we all will like aimlessly walking the streets, just kicking stones and things, just know nothing to do. So, yeah, it is. So I thoroughly recommend the Road to World Cup. We did we did Saudi Arabia ah in our last episode. is Imagine 45 minutes on Saudi Arabia. Well, we did it.
00:01:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
and We also did 45 minutes on Cape Verde the week before. So if you're interested in the World Cup and it is bubbling up nicely, go and find that. You'll find probably yeah ah you find it next to whatever wherever you find this.

Rob Edwards' Appointment at Wolves

00:01:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Right. There are two things to talk about today, Nicholas. ah Firstly, something that happened since we last spoke, which is the appointment of Rob Edwards at Wolves, which by the way, in an interesting in turn of fate, means that West Ham Forest and Wolves have all changed their managers in recent weeks.
00:02:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
So want to talk about that. want to take a much closer view of that, what that says about Wolves, what that says about Rob Edwards, what that says about Middlesbrough and Wolves, and all those things as well. Secondly,
00:02:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah In a rather neat segue, I thought, ah it would be good if we took a look at the bottom six, particularly the next six games that each of them have got, which will take them to the end of the year, which is effectively is halfway through the season.
00:02:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
What I'm going to do, I've got the fixtures for all six of the bottom six, the next six games. We'll have a quick look through that, see if Mystic Nick can predict what the bottom of the league will look like by the end of the year.
00:02:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I thought that would be good game.
00:02:53
Nick Britten
Well, you know how good my predictions are, so you might as well put your house on whatever I'm about to say.
00:02:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:03:02
Nick Britten
That's if you don't want a house anymore.
00:03:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Put your worst enemy's house on on it.
00:03:04
Nick Britten
If you're happy living in a box.
00:03:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So, yeah, so we've got all that to look forward to. So first things first, Rob Edwards, he has got a bit of a reputation of ah a manager who can bring teams up from the Championship to the Premier League, but not necessarily one that can keep them there. So what's the thinking, do you think, behind Wolves' appointment to Rob Edwards?
00:03:30
Nick Britten
but I think he's got a bit of a reputation of a manager who will jump ship at the first available opportunity where he thinks something's better on offer. If you look at how he left Forest Green in controversy, Dale Vince, the chairman there, very unhappy, questioned his loyalty and all of that. He only lasted 11 games at Watford, got sacked, but that's not unusual at Watford. Then, of course, ended up at Luton, where he's had his most successful spell.
00:03:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Miracles, really, at Luton.
00:03:56
Nick Britten
But He did a brilliant job getting promoted. He really did. And actually, he did a brilliant job in the Premier League because they they certainly played their part.
00:04:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, they went embarrassed.
00:04:05
Nick Britten
i They have a very good account.
00:04:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, you would imagine Luton would be vying with Derby for the lowest points total ever in Premier League history, but they were nowhere close to that, were they?
00:04:07
Nick Britten
No, you're right. No. No.
00:04:16
Nick Britten
No, they weren't. And they had a really good spirit, really good culture. And as we all know, particularly Premier League level, you need that if you don't have, at the very least, if you don't have perhaps the quality of players. You need something that will, that dogs of war spirit, if you like, something that will keep you at least...
00:04:35
Nick Britten
in contention of staying up something will make you competitive during games and they had that in abundance and in many ways they became the kind of great underdogs everybody wanted to sort keep stay up but they didn't have it in them they weren't quite good enough and in the end got relegated but that was only the start of the story because of course the next season in the championship they got relegated again down to league one and that that was very poor because they still they kept a lot the players that
00:04:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:05:01
Nick Britten
had played in the Premier League and last season was terrible. And he left by whatever they like to call it these days, mutual consent, in January. And he was taken off off the the managerial scrap heap, as it were, taken off the and merry-go-round of non-employed managers by Middlesbrough, gave him a brilliant chance.
00:05:20
Nick Britten
And Middlesbrough gave him a great chance, great opportunity, so and his reward is leave them ah about three months later. So there
00:05:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:05:29
Nick Britten
There you go.
00:05:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:05:29
Nick Britten
That's, you that's you know, that's what, to be honest with that's as much as I want to know about my movies. Now, he has got links with Wolves.
00:05:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:05:37
Nick Britten
He's played there. He's coached there before. His family live in Telford. There's a lot of links in there. But it's a very, on the face of it, strange move because Middlesbrough second in the championship.
00:05:49
Nick Britten
Wolves are bottom of the Premier League. um don't see any way that he keeps them up whatsoever. And he'll be back in the championship next season and Middlesbrough might be in the Premier League.
00:05:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it is an odd one. Sometimes I think things like I live in Telford, which, by the way, for people are not from this neck of the woods, is literally down the road from Wolfe. It's like a 10, 15 minute journey.
00:06:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
fifteen minute journey Middlesbrough's a lot. We're talking in the UK terms. If you're in America, you'll laugh at this. But Middlesbrough's got to be a two-and-a-half-hour journey, I guess, from the West Midlands.
00:06:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
That feels a long way in the UK. I know it doesn't in the US.
00:06:28
Nick Britten
please Are you flying or something? Have you ever tried to drive out of Wolverhampton, first of all, that takes you forever, and up the motorway to Middlesbrough?
00:06:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, I've never done the journey, I don't think.
00:06:39
Nick Britten
No, you know no, no, it's three and a half hours easily.
00:06:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
So do you think that actually has a bearing on it in the sense of if he's doing that kind of commute fairly regularly, which he must be, do you think he's sitting there thinking actually part of this is about quality of life?
00:06:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
And in fact, just toddling down the M54 for 10 minutes is going to feel a lot better.
00:07:00
Nick Britten
that movie Yeah, maybe. But I mean, that's that's just him looking after for himself, isn't it? is Whatever suits Rob Edwards. Listen, there's nothing wrong with that. Football is an opportunistic game. Football management is a particularly opportunistic game.
00:07:14
Nick Britten
And, albeit for possibly only a few months, he's back in the Premier League. He's probably had his wages you doubled or or certainly increased because Premier League wages are very, very high.
00:07:25
Nick Britten
and And that's fine. I've got no issue particularly with that. But Let's not kind of feel, ah don I don't know, I think people look at this and go, however he gets on the Wolves, he's a bit of a difficult bet moving forward.
00:07:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:07:42
Nick Britten
Because, I mean, I wouldn't employ him because I think he's he's he is what he is. He sees a good opportunity and goes for it. And that's fine, no problem at all. But what's to say if Wolves do badly and Aston Villa come in for him, he'll be there.
00:07:55
Nick Britten
Yeah. you know, in three months' time. i It's just one of those, isn't it? I mean, he says, oh, you know, Wolves are close to my heart. I'm sure they are. um I wouldn't argue with that. He says, this is the only team I would i would leave Middlesbrough Fort. I don't believe that in in a moment because if Man United came in for me, he would have gone there.
00:08:12
Nick Britten
So, yeah, look, it's ah it's a funny one. it To me, don't really like seeing it, but then again, it's football, isn't it and Managers get sacked out of nowhere, so I suppose they've got to be right to leave.
00:08:25
Nick Britten
just It just doesn't quite...
00:08:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think... Hmm.
00:08:28
Nick Britten
It doesn't sit right on me. because Steve Gibson... Now, you talk to any Derby fan, and I am a Derby fan, they will they will have nothing nice to say about Steve Gibson whatsoever, and or server and you know they'll they'll burn effigies of him all that kind of stuff.
00:08:40
Nick Britten
After the role he played in Derby County's financial collapse and near extinction, and he played quite a significant role in that by trying to... Well, it was... a and it was it was an He essentially tried to sue Derby, claiming that because we'd broken financial rules, we didn't deserve to get in playoffs, so Millers were dead one season. mean, it's just utter nonsense.
00:09:03
Nick Britten
But he also knew that by taking this legal action, he kind prevented any owners coming in and taking this over because you've got legal action coming out, hanging over. It was all a bit messy, all a bit unsavoury, and in my opinion, all very, very, very unnecessary. And I didn't ah didn't like what Steve Gibson was doing.
00:09:19
Nick Britten
That said, nobody can argue that he hasn't been a brilliant, brilliant owner for Middlesbrough. He's pumped loads of money into the football club. He's one of a very much a last bastion of local

Wolves' Premier League Ambitions

00:09:32
Nick Britten
local businessmen, ownerships of football clubs at an elite level.
00:09:37
Nick Britten
And if I'm sitting in his shoes, I think he probably feels exactly the same way as Dale Vince felt in 2022 when he's taken Rob Zobel's on, he's given him the chance, he's given him the opportunity and he's been thrown back in his face.
00:09:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I feel... I'm not sure I'm quite in that position in relation to football managers. Football managers get absolutely... ah They don't necessarily have any loyalty paid back to them. So I'm not sure they owe too much loyalty. It's not these days.
00:10:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
But... What does this say about Wolves' ambitions? Because clearly Rob Edwards has not got a great track record of keeping ah keeping teams in the Premier League.
00:10:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Is this Wolves giving up and saying, we might as well prepare for life in the Championship because it's just not gonna he's not going to get solved this season? is easy easy Does it say something about what Wolves' position is, do you think?
00:10:32
Nick Britten
like you writes them with a very good safety net. Now, I saw comments from the the owners ownership group talking about we need a whole new culture within the club. We need a whole new... This like a complete reset.
00:10:46
Nick Britten
Now, that to me speaks so of we've got a manager who will give it a go this year, but no worries if we get relegated. He's in a good place to help bring us back up. And to me, Wolves don't have the team. They don't have the squad.
00:11:01
Nick Britten
They don't have the attitude. to stay up this year. Now, Rob Edwards might be able to change that attitude. He might be able to do it quickly. He might not. We don't know. We've seen how difficult it is with managers going into clubs in the Premier League and trying to change things overnight. hasn't worked. Didn't work for Ange, Forrest. Didn't work for Nuno at West Ham.
00:11:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
No.
00:11:20
Nick Britten
and With that immediate bounce, the problem Wolves are they need an immediate bounce. It's no good waiting another six to ten games for them to start winning games because by then it'll be too late. So,
00:11:31
Nick Britten
I think the ownership have looked at looks at it with a one eye of let's hope we can stay up, but if we don't, we'll take the hit, we'll understand what's happened and we'll be putting ourselves and in a good position now, ready for next season in the Championship.
00:11:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, that makes sense. Edwards is an ex-defender. One of the things that Wolves have been doing is leaking late goals. He might bring him a little bit more robustness in in in that neck of the woods, but to be honest, he's not scoring enough either. So, yeah, it looks to me like Wolves have kind of said, hey, this is a free hit.
00:12:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
And if things go badly wrong, ah we've we've got a decent manager for next season. Just
00:12:12
Nick Britten
Yeah, thats and in that sense, Edwards can't kind of lose, can he?
00:12:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, he can't.
00:12:15
Nick Britten
Because if he goes down, he'll just go, well, I did my best.
00:12:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's
00:12:18
Nick Britten
thing We were already relegated before yeah I came here. And if we stay up, then I'm a hero.
00:12:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
an absolute free hit for Rob Edwards. This this this is absolutely key to this. Do you think, by the way, just final thought on this, we'll move on. Are Wolves a bigger club than Middlesbrough?
00:12:35
Nick Britten
no They're a bigger club than... They're a bigger club.
00:12:40
Nick Britten
They're a bigger club at the moment because they're in the premier League and Middlesbrough aren't. And that's kind of what you define success by because that's where the money is.
00:12:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm. Hmm.
00:12:48
Nick Britten
And it's the money that makes you a bigger club and helps you grow and and all that. But, I mean, if they swap places, as they might well do, and Middlesbrough go up and Wolves come down, are we to say that Wolves are any bigger club than Middlesbrough?
00:13:02
Nick Britten
No, I think so. No.
00:13:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Interesting. I saw Middlesbrough the other week when they played Wrexham. They didn't look great, to be honest with you. I'm not sure. In fact, I am sure Middlesbrough aren't Premier League standard.
00:13:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Anyway, what we're going to do...
00:13:16
Nick Britten
You could argue the Wolves aren't either.
00:13:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:13:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, no, I think we could make a very good one. Who would win in a game between Wolves and Middlesbrough, do think? Over two legs.
00:13:24
Nick Britten
That would probably be a very, would say, very dull nil-nil draw, I'd have thought.
00:13:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Two legs.
00:13:30
Nick Britten
There are very dull nil-nil draws.
00:13:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Fair enough. Right. As Rob Edwards knows, in football, it pays to get your team selection right. And here at Global Sports Podcast Network, we spent a lot of time selecting our delivery partner.

Bottom Six Teams Predictions

00:14:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, second part show. It's time, Nick, to get your crystal balls out. And we'll just give you five minutes, then we can come back to the podcast. So, right, what we're going to do is look at the six teams who make up the bottom six.
00:14:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's Fulham, Leeds, Burnley, West Ham, Forest and Wolves as we stand. Fulham have 11 points, Leeds have 11 points, Burnley have 10, West Ham have 10, Forest have 9 and Wolves have 2. We're going to look at each of their upcoming six games and I want you to tell me Nick,
00:15:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
what they're going to get from them. Because I want to see what the league table is going to be like at the end of the season with Mystic Nick. Okay? That's the game. It's not really a game because there's no winners or losers, especially not Wolves.
00:15:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah So, first things. First... Oh, in fact, there are seven games. I beg you. There are seven games between now and the end of the year. ah So, here we go.
00:15:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Fulham. Sunderland at home.
00:15:40
Nick Britten
Sunderland are great on road. They're really good at home. They're not great on the road. Fulham are better home. They're not great on the road either, but I quite like the way they play at home. It's hard to go at teams.
00:15:52
Nick Britten
I think we're probably looking at a draw
00:15:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. Spurs away.
00:15:56
Nick Britten
here. Sunderland are full of confidence that they're having great season.
00:15:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Down. Spurs away.
00:16:03
Nick Britten
Who are we?
00:16:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Spurs.
00:16:05
Nick Britten
Spurs away. ah Well, you'll be going you'll be going for a Wolves win. No, who are we talking about here?
00:16:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Column.
00:16:10
Nick Britten
Fulham. Yeah, you'll be going for a Fulham win now. Because you you hate sports and everything about them.
00:16:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Armadillo, I suppose, yeah.
00:16:17
Nick Britten
hello
00:16:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hmm.
00:16:19
Nick Britten
Yeah, they'll struggle. I don't know. i Yeah, I think they'll probably lose so
00:16:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, Man City at home.
00:16:28
Nick Britten
that. Possibility, but Man City, I think, is starting it. find their form a little bit. So that's a difficult home game. It's not an ideal home game, I don't think. You play something like that, Man City.
00:16:39
Nick Britten
um I think probably Man City win.
00:16:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep, Palace at home.
00:16:44
Nick Britten
Yeah, Palace win. Palace Palace are good away from home. I don't know. no, I don't know. i don't know. i mean, Palace have dropped off a little bit, but they're just hard to beat away from home.
00:16:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
They are.
00:16:54
Nick Britten
I can't... um I'm looking to see... See, I think Fulham are out of the bottom six of the best teams. think they're best to them out the bottom six. This feels like a horrible run of games.
00:17:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's got a horrible run again.
00:17:03
Nick Britten
but It really does. i don't and I don't think this will decide their future because I think they'll stay up. I don't think this little patch of games is going to...
00:17:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay.
00:17:11
Nick Britten
But the but it is difficult. They're to have to pick up points. I'm to give them a point at home at Palace.
00:17:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. Burnley away.
00:17:17
Nick Britten
to to pick up points.
00:17:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Burnley away.
00:17:18
Nick Britten
Now, that's a big game. Yeah, that becomes a big game all of sudden. And they've got to start picking up points on the road. can They can get a point at Burnley. and Whether they turn into three or not, I don't know, but they can get certainly get a point Burnley.
00:17:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, ah Forest at home.
00:17:37
Nick Britten
Yeah, they'll beat Forrest at home.
00:17:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
West Ham away.
00:17:46
Nick Britten
Hmm. Difficult one. Difficult know about West because we've won the last couple of games.
00:17:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, they are.
00:17:51
Nick Britten
i I thought we played very well against Ginkas. No, think you probably have to give that to West Ham.
00:17:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, so that means Fulham will end up with an extra, another six points, therefore 17 points after 17 games.
00:18:04
Nick Britten
yeah yeah that feels about right when they're on 11 out of 11.
00:18:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. In fact, after 18 games, after 18 games.
00:18:07
Nick Britten
Defeat Defeat Defeat but
00:18:09
Nick Britten
so
00:18:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, Leeds.
00:18:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
You think Fulham had a bad run of fixtures. Check Leeds' out. Villa at home.
00:18:17
Nick Britten
see
00:18:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Man City away.
00:18:21
Nick Britten
and seat
00:18:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Chelsea at home.
00:18:25
Nick Britten
and see
00:18:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Liverpool at home.
00:18:28
Nick Britten
but save
00:18:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
and So far, not looking very good for the Leeds. Brentford away.
00:18:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Palace at home.
00:18:43
Nick Britten
Defeat.
00:18:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
And...
00:18:45
Nick Britten
So, go back over those. I've got to give them a point. They're not going to no points. Who are the home games? Because i think they're terrible at Oilers, but they've got chance at home. Who are the home games? Liverpool?
00:18:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Villa at home.
00:18:54
Nick Britten
and Yeah, okay, yeah. I'll give them something against Liverpool. ah give them something against Liverpool, definitely. um Yeah, I'm going to give them three points against Liverpool.
00:19:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
points against Liverpool do you think Leeds going to beat Liverpool but they're not going to beat Villa or Chelsea or Palace ok and Sunderland away finally
00:19:07
Nick Britten
Cat Island Road, they're good, yeah. Yeah, they're OK. I don't think they're good. No, because I think Villa and Chelsea are better than Liverpool. but I think certainly Villa and Chelsea are better than Liverpool. I don't know about Palace. It's just Palace are so awkward to be.
00:19:24
Nick Britten
and what was the other one?
00:19:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Sunderland away
00:19:27
Nick Britten
Yeah, they'll lose. You've got to look at Sunderland win. So, let me see then. Right, OK.
00:19:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
The only points you're giving him is a home victory against Liverpool. really yeah I think you should give that crystal those crystal balls a bit of a rub.
00:19:46
Nick Britten
yeah it just feels a horrible run of pictures, doesn't it?
00:19:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
That is a terrible one, Sixers.
00:19:49
Nick Britten
a It really, really does. and Okay, well, look, probably some of the A's Palace at home. but um I don't think they'll get anything away from anywhere. I just think they were away from. It's terrible.
00:19:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
All right, so that gives him four points.
00:19:59
Nick Britten
think they'll lose all their...
00:20:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Put someone 15 points after 18 games.
00:20:04
Nick Britten
Yeah.
00:20:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, interesting.
00:20:06
Nick Britten
Yeah, okay.
00:20:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is an interesting little exercise. um
00:20:09
Nick Britten
I'm glad you're not doing any of the hard work
00:20:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, no, no, no. This is why we pay you the big money. ah
00:20:14
Nick Britten
here. OK. To see.
00:20:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Burnley now. We're talking about Burnley. Okay.
00:20:19
Nick Britten
See.
00:20:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Chelsea at home.
00:20:21
Nick Britten
to see
00:20:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Brentford away.
00:20:27
Nick Britten
thank
00:20:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Palace at home.
00:20:36
Nick Britten
but what wrong
00:20:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Newcastle away.
00:20:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's got point.
00:20:42
Nick Britten
Hmm.
00:20:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
That says a point to me. i just
00:20:44
Nick Britten
Yeah, hasn't it? here Yeah, it's got that has yeah' not no i live what's that I going to do?
00:20:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Fulham at home.
00:20:55
Nick Britten
I've already predicted
00:20:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Yeah, you said it was a point, so we can't exactly have a difference with that.
00:20:57
Nick Britten
Yeah, fine, yeah, yeah. Yeah,
00:21:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Bournemouth away.
00:21:03
Nick Britten
yeah and get nothing out of that.
00:21:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Everton at home.
00:21:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Burnley v Everton.
00:21:10
Nick Britten
and Yeah, they'll take a point out of it.
00:21:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Four points, therefore, for Burnley. So Burnley are now on 14 points.
00:21:21
Nick Britten
Yep.
00:21:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
So no one's overtaken anyone yet. And before we get to the last three, I'm going to read the last of these. What are they called that?
00:21:34
Nick Britten
Yeah.

00:22:29
Nick Britten
I'm going to play that one more time just in case nobody hit it.
00:22:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
No. All right. All right. ah So we're now West Ham.
00:22:34
Nick Britten
You hit the wrong button.

West Ham and Nottingham Forest Analysis

00:22:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
West Ham. Team has turned the corner a bit.
00:22:37
Nick Britten
Yeah, okay.
00:22:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
OK.
00:22:39
Nick Britten
Yeah.
00:22:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Bournemouth away.
00:22:41
Nick Britten
No, no points.
00:22:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Liverpool at home.
00:22:48
Nick Britten
Yeah, quite fancy for that. I quite fancy it. West Ham, I think, are going to improve. I think West Ham going to get out of this. Yeah, I think... Yeah, I can see them beating at the full home.
00:23:00
Nick Britten
No,
00:23:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
You've got a proper downer on Liverpool, haven't you? Liverpool will end up about 19th the way you're going on.
00:23:04
Nick Britten
just don't think they're very good. I don't... They've lost four out of the last five league games.
00:23:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, they have. They have, they have.
00:23:11
Nick Britten
you know, they're not very good. Hmm.
00:23:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Man United away, West Ham.
00:23:17
Nick Britten
No, I think Man United have shown good form at Old Trafford the moment. So I think care we'll go for Man United on that one.
00:23:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Brighton away.
00:23:28
Nick Britten
Point.
00:23:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, Villa at home.
00:23:33
Nick Britten
Point.
00:23:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Man City away.
00:23:37
Nick Britten
Feet.
00:23:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Fulham at home. By the way, you already said that they'd win that game.
00:23:41
Nick Britten
Victory. yeah Who will gain?
00:23:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, eight, Fulham would, no, West Ham would.
00:23:48
Nick Britten
Yeah, so they go, I'm consistent straight away, without even you telling me that. I made the same call. So that tells something.
00:23:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well done. So West Ham get eight points out of those seven games and leap up to 15th place. so
00:24:03
Nick Britten
I sense that their home form under Nuno is going to be enough to just just about drag them clear.
00:24:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, moving on then quickly. Forest, we're talking about now, your favourite team.
00:24:15
Nick Britten
Yeah.
00:24:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Liverpool away, don't say it.
00:24:20
Nick Britten
feet.
00:24:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank you. ah Brighton at home.
00:24:26
Nick Britten
Yeah, three points.
00:24:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, Wolves away. Now we've already had this. Oh no, we haven't had Wolves away, beg your pardon.
00:24:32
Nick Britten
There we go. We haven't done, wasn't we?
00:24:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
We haven't had Wolves away.
00:24:36
Nick Britten
Well, welcome to Wolves. Gosh, what bottom two clash that is. Yeah, don't know. It's difficult because you know what Rivals is going to do.
00:24:47
Nick Britten
and Yeah, we'll give we'll give them a point each because I i don't know. because It's difficult say because we don't know what Wolves are going like couple of weeks time.
00:24:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Everton away
00:24:57
Nick Britten
Everton away. No, Everton for that one.
00:25:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Spurs at home Fulham away we have already had as a defeat because Fulham are going to win that game and Man City at home Forest home against Man City
00:25:04
Nick Britten
Draw.
00:25:11
Nick Britten
Yeah, I think. Defeat.
00:25:17
Nick Britten
a Defeat. Defeat.
00:25:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, that gives Forrest another five points. They're now on 14 points. And finally, Wolves. Palace at home.
00:25:28
Nick Britten
let's see
00:25:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Villa away.
00:25:31
Nick Britten
but say
00:25:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Forrest at home, they've got a point. Man United at home.
00:25:36
Nick Britten
Let's see.
00:25:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Arsenal away.
00:25:39
Nick Britten
Let's see.
00:25:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Brentford at home.
00:25:42
Nick Britten
Let's see.
00:25:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Liverpool away.
00:25:46
Nick Britten
Let's see.
00:25:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
One point. Wolves are now on three points after 18 games.
00:25:52
Nick Britten
So you're going to get less than 11 points.
00:25:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and it looks like they are. So the league table now has changed because in 15th place we have West Ham. In 16th place we have Leeds.
00:26:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
In 17th place we have Burnley.
00:26:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
In 18th place, we have
00:26:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Forest. Why am I missing the T?
00:26:23
Nick Britten
We thought, well, no, you got this wrong. You must have got this wrong with you.
00:26:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, I have got this wrong. um So it's West Ham, Fulham in 16th, Leeds in 17th, some...
00:26:31
Nick Britten
Yes, I felt that right, yeah. Yep.
00:26:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
so
00:26:38
Nick Britten
You've literally had nothing to do in this entire podcast.
00:26:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Burnley, Burnley, Burnley in 18th, Forest in 19th, Wolves in 20th.
00:26:44
Nick Britten
yeah
00:26:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
So the bottom six is West Ham, Fulham, Leeds, Burnley, Forest, Wolves. So interestingly, Burnley slip into the relegation zone and West Ham come out.
00:26:56
Nick Britten
and if you And if you want me to look at my further ah crystal, um'm I'm really pleased you've done that. I mean, not because your maths is appalling and the only thing you had to do was you couldn't do.
00:27:07
Nick Britten
But if you were to ask me before we did that little segment, who my bottom three are at the end of the season, they are Wolves, Forest and Burnham.
00:27:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, they are. i'm not I'm not entirely sure Forrest are going to say that.
00:27:20
Nick Britten
Or Leeds.
00:27:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think Leeds may fall into this.
00:27:21
Nick Britten
Yeah, or Leeds. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I went back to what I said at the start of the season, and I said Wolves, Brentford and Leeds.
00:27:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. It's not looking too bad.
00:27:33
Nick Britten
I'm not going to be far, im want apologies to Brentford, but the other two, I think I'm looking all right.
00:27:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think you're looking all right. i think Leeds are going to get dragged into this.
00:27:40
Nick Britten
Yeah, I did mean, sorry, when I said Forrest, I did actually mean by the end of the season, I didn't mean Forrest at all, I think they will get out of it. I think Leeds Burnley, Wolves will be gone.
00:27:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:27:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's looking like we our considered opinion here is given the trajectory, the trends, the direction of travel, it's not looking good for Burmese, Leeds and Wolves because Leeds have just got a horrible run of fixtures coming on
00:28:04
Nick Britten
Well, they've they've also shown themselves to be not very good, and they've shown themselves to be pretty poor at home. And we all know, and we've talked about it before, the fact that Daniel Farker's record in the Premier League is poor.
00:28:16
Nick Britten
So when you are down the bottom and you start going on a bit of a ah bit of a slide, and if you look at their last five games, they've won won and lost four, then then yeah the alarm bells are ringing loud and clear.
00:28:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I should say The only victory According to Mystic Nick That they're going to get in the next seven games Is against Liverpool So I mean
00:28:43
Nick Britten
if i don't butt don you me I don't even to think they're going to do that. I just felt sorry for them because i the rest of their run and form is so bad.
00:28:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah It's just not looking great
00:28:53
Nick Britten
To be honest with you, put your thinking hats on there. Any chance that Leeds got staying up, they have to win their home games. Ellen Rode has to become a monstrously difficult place to go.
00:29:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:29:07
Nick Britten
and so it's goingnna be Against Liverpool, it's be ah I mean, I guess Man U, because they're playing Man during that little run as well.
00:29:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, they've got Villa at home, Chelsea at home, Liverpool at home, Palace at home.
00:29:15
Nick Britten
Or they're playing Man U away. Yeah.
00:29:20
Nick Britten
Right, so the big game out of them four for them, for the fans, is Liverpool.
00:29:24
Nick Britten
That's going to be the atmosphere out of all of those four that's going to be absolutely febrile. And Liverpool have not shown themselves, even as much as Palace or Villa, they've not shown themselves capable defensively standing up to teams this season.
00:29:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:29:38
Nick Britten
So that's the logic behind if they're going to win any of those games with a brilliant atmosphere at Ellen Road, with the crowd behind them, with Liverpool's defensive record, that's the one where I think they can win.
00:29:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Very interesting. I fancy him slightly against Palace. Anyway, the long and short of it is, although Leeds still in 17th place probably by the end of the year, their form will be so dreadful that they're probably going to find themselves slipping into the bottom three. Anyway, that was really interesting. Thanks for doing that, Nick.
00:30:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Wolves appointed Rob Edwards. He's going to make absolutely no difference. And Leeds Burnley are going to slip into the yeah into the nether regions of the Premier League.
00:30:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
So

Conclusion and Farewell

00:30:23
Nick Britten
Yeah, but but i just thinking thing I don't think, ah you know, I don't want to i don't want sort cast it on a Rob Edwards' door. I just don't think Wolves have got the players to make the sort of dramatic turnaround that they need.
00:30:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
that's it.
00:30:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
G-Synch. gsing
00:30:35
Nick Britten
That's the point. It's not like starting on zero, is it? They've got two points. Burnley on 17th, they've got ten points. They've got an eight-point gap straight away to try and make up.
00:30:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and you're predicting they get the the grand total of one in the next seven games.
00:30:47
Nick Britten
Yeah. Yeah. you
00:30:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's not going to make much difference. And to be honest, do you think if they get one out of the next 21 points, do you think the Wolves people might be looking on LinkedIn again and seeing there's any managers out there who fancy it for the third time?
00:31:04
Nick Britten
Well,
00:31:07
Nick Britten
well, Edge is available.
00:31:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Good shout. ae So that'll be interesting with the Nuno thing. anyway Anyway, we'll leave it there. That's been a great episode. Great to be back. Thanks, for everyone, for listening.
00:31:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah We'll see you next time. We'll probably do another one at some point. this Well, we'll do another couple before the end of this week, I would imagine, know as we yeah as we look forward to the to the weekend.
00:31:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thank God.
00:31:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
See you next time.
00:31:37
Nick Britten
Okay, bye.
