Introduction to 'Tri-State Area Takeover'
00:00:12
Speaker
back to the Tri-State Area Takeover, a Phineas and Ferb podcast. I'm your host, I'm Allie, and ah Maria's back. Hi, Maria. Hello, I'm back.
00:00:25
Speaker
Before we actually get into the next, like, talking about, like, these episodes of, you know, the episode, The Fast and the Phineas, and I call it the Backyard Beach episode, but it has another official name, which I can't think. Hold on. Oh, wait, I know what it is.
00:00:43
Speaker
Hold on. I have it in my notes. I took more diligent notes this time. The Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror. I just call it the Backyard Beach episode because it's just more easier because that's a mouthful.
00:00:56
Speaker
That was it was very confusing when I first read it.
New Season Teasers and Easter Eggs Discussion
00:01:00
Speaker
But before we we dive into that, I want to talk because it's been a while since we've recorded our last episode. um I want to look back because while we were recording our first episode, they released the first image of the next season that's coming to Disney Channel and Disney Plus.
00:01:21
Speaker
And I love this image. This just gets me excited for it. Like you don't even see most of these characters like full front face, but you know who they are. And it is the the detail in this image. If you look at it from like, because when I saw it at first on Instagram, I was like automatically I knew who they were. I knew this was like the new image.
00:01:42
Speaker
But upon seeing it, like, on my computer and, like, actually zooming in, there's a lot of Easter eggs. Like, the first time I saw this image, I did not see. So up at the top, I don't know if you can see it. If you haven't pulled up, Maria.
00:01:54
Speaker
But up the top, you see Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus fighting up at the top. Now, quickly remind me, what episode, but ah I mean, what season would this be? This would be following, so...
00:02:07
Speaker
It is not ah reboot. It's more of a continuation of the show. So after the show has four seasons, I believe. So this would be its fifth season. Okay.
00:02:19
Speaker
So there are there are events that kind of impact things. And there are some Easter eggs in here that you might not get. But I'm just going to like point them out to you. So you have something to look forward to as we go through this ah journey.
00:02:35
Speaker
So you have Doofage Mertz up at top fighting with Perry the Platypus. And then you have Candace over here in the background just like glaring down at the boys and ah the rest of the gang.
00:02:48
Speaker
And if you look it really, really closely, the people sitting in the stands, you can see. So like bottom right-hand corner, ah you see Irving and his brother. I forget what his name is.
00:03:01
Speaker
But ah those two characters will come into play later. Just above them, you get ah the Phineas and Ferb robots that they make. You get um Stacy's mom. So Stacy is one of Candace's friends.
00:03:18
Speaker
And you see Mrs. Garcia Shapiro in the background. You also see Vanessa Doofenshmirtz and Monty Monogram, who are, as you can tell by their last names, children of Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Frances Monogram.
00:03:32
Speaker
But just below them, you get... ah major monogram and and his assistant carl he's a lot of fun i love him i reference i referenced him a lot in college um because at one point he mentions that he's doing this internship for college credit and i remember telling y'all about how well i remember telling you maria how about how this boy is doing ah he's not getting paid he just gets college credit right and Doofenshmirt says are you sure you're not evil?
00:04:06
Speaker
um It's kind of hard to see but like you get other characters too. um You get ah Linda's mom in this ah kind of in the corner in the in between Phineas and Ferb some of the people that I can see is like um Linda's mom and then Ferb's grandfather.
00:04:27
Speaker
A little bit further up, you get to more the obscure characters. I see Norm, who's a robot that Dr. Doofenshmirtz makes. Up at the very tippy top next to this dinosaur, that'll come in that'll be a surprise tool that will come into play later. um And right below them is a farmer and his wife.
00:04:47
Speaker
That is a running gag. And I really can't wait for you to meet them because they they're your classic like ah husband and wife. The wife kind of getting mad at the husband kind of ploy.
00:05:00
Speaker
And you'll know what I mean when we get to them.
Episode Recap: 'Fast and the Phineas'
00:05:03
Speaker
On the left-hand corner, you'll see a giant floating baby head. Another running gag. that was i was I'm more curious about that one.
00:05:12
Speaker
And then right below it, just like a couple of seats below it, you'll see Ducky Momo. It was a childhood show that Candace was very fond of, and she's still fond of it. She's like 16, and she's still very fond of Ducky Momo.
00:05:25
Speaker
I believe it's like the equivalent to like Barney, um which if that is the case, Candace, I cannot, I cannot, um I'm not going to I'm not going to give her any like crap for it. and oh think I think.
00:05:39
Speaker
Yeah. I think in between Ducky Momo and the baby head. i think there's a balloon and that but there's a balloon called Balloonie. dr doofenshmirtz another one of dr doofenshmirtz tragic backstories is that he has um he had a balloon named balloonie and that was his friend um i think that's who he do who that is in between there i could be wrong so if anyone else notices any cool like easter eggs in the audience
00:06:11
Speaker
It's really fun to watch. It's like I didn't notice all of the characters that are coming back. I guess they're trying to show us that all these characters are going to make a comeback. um But the second, kind the second, besides the the background characters in the audience.
00:06:28
Speaker
There's a very famous line of at the bottom. The tagline underneath it is, we're getting the band back together. So that is actually a ah reference to a to um my favorite episode of all time. Like if anyone asks which episode I really love, it's it's very cliche because I think the whole fandom really loves that episode too.
00:06:49
Speaker
It's called Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together. It's episode 14 season one. ah It actually takes place over the 30 minutes. So it's not two 15 minute episodes. It's a one whole story arc.
00:07:01
Speaker
It is so much fun. i kind of i kind of wish that they went. So in that same um and that same episode called Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together, there's a song called... Give me a second. It's going to come to me.
00:07:23
Speaker
Ain't Got Rhythm. The song Ain't Got Rhythm. At one point, ah Phineas and the person who sings the song with him, one of the one of the band members that they're trying to form the band back together, ah they say, he says, ah they sing a line called, ah Gonna Rock a Brand New Generation.
00:07:43
Speaker
I really kind of wish that was also the tagline for this, Gonna Rock a Brand New Generation, because quite literally, I feel like this is going to be like a... a
00:07:55
Speaker
a continuation of the of the show and you're gonna bring new fans into this because at this point all the people who grew up watching the show have kids of their own i would assume and you know you're gonna bring a new generation of fans into this so i feel like that would have been a really good tagline but do we're getting the band back together is also such a good reference to that episode that is i feel like a fan favorite But yeah, after dissecting that, I hope you're really excited, Maria, about what were but we're going to get into for this like next next this whole and so the season and in in entirety. i'm excited
00:08:32
Speaker
I'm excited to get all the references and all the characters and meet all these characters. Right. But so we're going to get into episode two, the Fast and the Phineas.
00:08:45
Speaker
So we in this episode, we are back at the Flynn Fletcher household in the backyard as they're deciding what they're going to do today. And the sound of the race cars is what draws their attention.
00:08:59
Speaker
And they decide that that what they're going to do today, they're going to um convert their mom's car into a stock car, into a racing stock car. So they go to the garage to start start working on it.
00:09:15
Speaker
Candace walks by the garage door when she remembers she has to update her selfie for her blog, which if that doesn't, again, like the show is very reminiscent of his time at points and, ah updating your selfie for your blog is, uh, hands down one of the things I've never done it, but I think that is one of the things that was done a lot.
00:09:35
Speaker
You know, the Tumblr girlies, I feel like Candace was a Tumblr girl. Um, Which when you kind of see the photo that she takes and the one that she replaces it with, it is almost the exact same photo. It is basically identical.
00:09:52
Speaker
That's when Candace notices that what Phineas and Ferb have done to the family station wagon as they're finishing up the the race car. Candace mentions that they don't even know how to drive it.
00:10:04
Speaker
And I love their their kind of loophole that they found for not being able to drive. They build a remote control to go with the car. because So technically, they're not really driving the car.
00:10:15
Speaker
but it's It's the remote that's actually doing most of the work. It's more of an RC car. True, true, true. And it kind of looks kind of kiddish because if you see it from the from like if you see it from like an adult standpoint, you're like, oh, they're playing with a remote car. It's around here somewhere, right? They don't know that it's a real car. the next This next part is one of my favorite audio gags of all time.
00:10:38
Speaker
Candace is going around looking for mom around the house. It's such a great audio gag because you can hear her running around the house, opening and closing doors, calling for mom as she slowly goes from being like very sweet, very gentle, and then slowly gets more aggravated that she cannot find her.
00:10:56
Speaker
And she comes back to ask the boys very, very sweetly and very nicely being like, um, where's mom? I love this soundbite so much that I have actually like taken that soundbite and actually downloaded it onto my phone that I use it to send my mom when I want her to text me back and I want to get her attention.
00:11:17
Speaker
Don't think they use it that often. then I think this might be the only time that they use it like that. Phineas tells Candace That mom is actually across the street playing bridge at Mrs. Garcia Shapiro's house.
00:11:29
Speaker
So this is actually Isabella's mom. And as you can tell by the fact that she has a hyphenated name, it's Garcia Shapiro. She's actually part Jewish and half and part Mexican. As soon as she answers the door, Mrs. Garcia Shapiro starts talking like a mile of minute. And at first, Candace is trying to be nice, you know, and she desperately wants to get her mom's attention to let her know what the boys are doing. We then so we then come back to the boys kind of playing with the car. So they're like driving it back and forth.
00:11:56
Speaker
And you get this visual gag of their hair going in one direction and then going into another direction. Eventually, for some reason, they swap hair. I like the look. I like and like this look.
00:12:08
Speaker
The switched hair colors. Yeah, you get to see for a quick second, you get to see what Phineas would look like if he had green hair and what Ferb would look like if he had orange red hair.
00:12:20
Speaker
But nonetheless, the boys are testing out the remote and then there's this big like emergency eject button on it in the middle. Ferb gives it to Phineas to give it a chance to like push the button to see what it actually does.
00:12:31
Speaker
And so like I said, it ejects the car and it goes up and then it comes back down. ah But mom comes out only in time to see the car go up, not even to see the car at all.
00:12:42
Speaker
So when she comes out, she only sees the boys playing in the front yard. And once again, Candace is flabbergasted as to why the car just mysteriously disappears. And then it comes back down. The boys then take the car and move it to the front drive. And we get Isabella coming by and asking what the boys are doing.
00:13:00
Speaker
And Phineas tells her that they're going to enter the Swamp Oil 500 today. Which is under the assumption that I would i would believe is like 500 laps. It is not. As a motorsport fan...
00:13:13
Speaker
500 is 500 miles. And usually this goes for IndyCar. they They do 200 laps because that's the equivalent of 500 miles.
00:13:26
Speaker
You see, and and all three ah Cars movies did not prepare me for this episode. Okay. I also rewatched the Cars movies. They did not prepare me for that. i just I just like motorsports, so that's why I know this. And I really like this episode. it is a lot it is a lot of fun. i never been a motorsport fan.
00:13:47
Speaker
i would get really into it when my little brother would be watching the Cars movies and then I'd get really excited and I would want to, as soon as I watched the Cars movies, I'm like, let's watch Herbie Fully Loaded and with Lindsay Lohan.
00:14:02
Speaker
that's the um That's as far as I got in like motor speedway sports. Actually, no, I lied. I was actually able to meet a female NASCAR driver when I was like five.
00:14:15
Speaker
Do you remember who it is? She was Hispanic. That's all I remember. So that should narrow it down a little bit. If you think about like between like 2004, who was a female Hispanic NASCAR driver?
00:14:28
Speaker
Probably narrows it down. I got her autograph and I lost it. So um i i would I will never know who it was. That might be the only time I ever got they interested in like NASCAR or any like Formula One ah cars and things like that.
00:14:45
Speaker
um I do want to mention that Isabella, again, doing the most for Phineas and trying to be trying to be close to him by being in the pit crew.
00:15:00
Speaker
I could never. Could never. Isabella basically volunteered herself and the Firesight girls to be the pit crew. More on that later, but it's just so funny that she's just like, oh,
00:15:12
Speaker
Well, me and the Fireside Girls can be your pit crew. i think I would quit being her friend after one or two times where I had to volunteer. I was voluntold to help Phineas and Verbe. After one or two times, I would have been like, you know what? And so we transitioned to Agent P's storyline.
00:15:27
Speaker
He goes to his lair and he gets his assignment for Major Monogram. And I'm not sure if we ever mentioned it or ever saw it in the last two episodes, that file photo that they have.
00:15:38
Speaker
The photo of Dr. Doofenshmirtz. They literally address him in this in this in this scene as the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz. But as soon as the file photo comes up, its You would assume it would be like a mugshot of some kind.
00:15:53
Speaker
But no, they literally have a photo posed of him. It's a posed photo of a sunset on a beach background. He looks very happy. It looks very Sears, JCPenney, circa 1990. And so Dufin Jemertz has bought a blimp for completely unknown reasons, which kind of begs the question, how much disposable income do you have to have to buy blimp?
00:16:15
Speaker
And I, i if correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think in the last two episodes you hear Perry's theme song. ah I know you mentioned that you liked his like very, the very light music of of Perry's like kind of theme. It is my favorite.
00:16:31
Speaker
I sing a lot to it. Yeah, we never got to the doobie doobie do, but you only got kind of like the music. You never got the vocals to it. But Perry does have his own theme song and we'll hear more of it. I think we hear it at the end of this episode.
00:16:44
Speaker
And so the boys are at the track and we get Isabella being a real girls in STEM moment, showing the fireside girls the engine of the car they're going to be working on, you know, just giving them all the stats.
00:16:58
Speaker
Which I got like, you know, for all the for all the, you know, crap we gave Isabella for being like you are being too obsessed with Phineas. You need to take it down a notch.
00:17:08
Speaker
She is doing a lot here. But she's like she's also bringing her friends along to do this with her. And I find that really encouraging.
00:17:19
Speaker
Just her like being like, I'm going to learn the parts of a car and the motor and everything. And I'm going to show my friends and we're going to do this together. So quality friend time for sure.
00:17:29
Speaker
We then hear Candace yelling for Phineas. And for a second, Candace is distracted by Jeremy being there, which, which happens. It doesn't happen too often, but she, she does like every now and then Candace will like have a, have that constant struggle of like, am I going to go bust Phineas and Ferb or going to, am I going to go with Jeremy?
00:17:50
Speaker
Like that is her like two big conflicts throughout the show sometimes. And we get a little, we get a little bit of sense of, of that here. Candace kind of just fumbles her chance to be with Jeremy, but.
00:18:03
Speaker
he She does get the idea from Jeremy that the boys are going to be on TV. So right away she calls mom. And Linda, being a faithful mom, she drops her cards right in the middle right when she's in the middle of a three-note trump.
00:18:18
Speaker
I've never played Bridge. I don't know how to play Bridge. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing that she had a three-note trump. I have no idea. i Never played it before. I've always wanted to learn, especially during the pandemic. We were like, we have cards.
00:18:33
Speaker
Maybe this might be a great time to learn how to, you know, play bridge, you know, for the old days when I go to the retirement home, but I never learned. So if someone knows how to play bridge, someone let us know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. And so mom goes ah goes to turn on the TV.
00:18:48
Speaker
And let me tell you how this is very reminiscent of the very early 2000s. Because as um as mom is trying to turn on the TV, she just can't turn on the TV because all she's getting is static.
00:19:01
Speaker
And then Mrs. Garcia Shapiro is like, you need to turn on the cable box first. So that'll turn it on. um But basically Linda is fumbling with like, I think like three or four remotes just to get the TV on.
00:19:15
Speaker
But when she finally gets the TV on, it's a dandruff commercial. And, you know, mom is just like, Candace, are you trying to tell me something? Like, she's very offended, but also like, I i dropped everything for you to show me a dandruff commercial? Why?
00:19:30
Speaker
We finally get to Doofenshmirtz and we get we finally get Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated jingle, which I love. It's just a jingle. We never get the whole song. And I really hope that we do get the whole song at some point.
00:19:46
Speaker
Because if Perry the Platypus gets his whole theme song, why doesn't Doofenshmirtz have his theme song? But I guess the jingle is kind of his theme song. But it's just literally maybe like five, ten seconds. So Perry enters the blip and he's trapped behind this like glass
Doofenshmirtz's Schemes and Perry's Antics
00:20:06
Speaker
And, you know, I gotta tell you that at least Dr. Doofenshmirtz isn't a complete monster. You know, he drilled holes into the glass. He cared enough to at least provide some oxygen for Perry the platypus.
00:20:21
Speaker
So you know what? Points for Dr. Doofenshmirtz for not being completely inhumane. This scheme that Dr. Doofenshmirtz is doing has no depressing backstory. His whole ploy is that he's going to deflate...
00:20:34
Speaker
He has a deflate-inator array and he's going to deflate everything in the Jefferson County Motor Speedway. And he's going to deflate everything in the tri-state area. And that way, if anyone needs anything inflated, they're going to have to come to him. As as as evil schemes go, it's it's not a bad one. It's not a terrible one.
00:20:54
Speaker
But it's also like I don't what is the purpose of it? Like is he going to make his money back from buying the blip? It's all very subjective depending on whether or not like how Dr. Doofenshmirtz is going to use this.
00:21:09
Speaker
Candace makes her way onto the track onto the actual track that the cars are on. I don't know how she got that down there because it seems kind of dangerous to be like that close to the cars.
00:21:21
Speaker
to she's She went down there to try to get Phineas' attention, but obviously with the race starting, there was no way that was going to happen. Then a photographer takes a picture of Candace in a really unflattering state. She's kind of just covered in soot from the cars.
00:21:35
Speaker
But that's when she gets the idea that she's going to take a picture of Phineas in the car. Such ah such a a beautiful idea, right? Like there's no way that could fail. The photographer catches up with her as she she's snapping the photo.
00:21:47
Speaker
And he tells her it's going to be $2 for the photos. And Candace only has $1. So she pays for one photo to take it to mom. And we get the return of Candace's bike. So we finally know that the bike did in fact make it home. Okay.
00:22:02
Speaker
So all your are your worries are gone now. So like I mentioned earlier, the boys kind of found a loophole on how to drive the car without actually driving the car. Ferb is high up. observing the track while Phineas is in the car and they talk to each other via walkie talkies and Phineas poses the question as to whether or not they can make the car go any faster than this and we get this like as you know this question is being posed we get this cool gag of like the the their race car slowing down as all the race cars speed past them
00:22:35
Speaker
And we eventually even get like a ah model T car driving past them. And then Ferb hooks the remote control to a bat a car battery to double its power. And and Isabella finally calls Ferb with the suggestion of bringing Phineas in for a pit stop. And we get ah a good look at how these fireside girls work really well together.
00:22:56
Speaker
They replace all four tires. They give it gas. Gretchen even had time to put a bow on the car, which is crazy. i don't even think that. That would be possible if you were to actually put a bow on. I don't think it'd make it out of the pit.
00:23:09
Speaker
I think they did a good job. Great job, even. We come back to Perry the Platypus and and Dr. DuVinchmert, and we get a little demonstration as to how the Deflatornator Ray is going to work.
00:23:23
Speaker
there The ray hits a beach ball that was being passed around the speedway and it's deflated. And that causes the deflated beach ball to fall and end up on the one of the car's windshields.
00:23:35
Speaker
So the driver can't see where it's driving, causing it to hit a billboard that falls. And because the other drivers can't see that the billboard is down...
00:23:48
Speaker
the cars all kind of go up the up the billboard and kind of just go flying up can i say that's crazy to have a billboard so close to the track that's what i was wondering too i was like i've seen like i said i've seen all the cars movies and i don't think there ever was a billboard in the middle of the track no because the thing is inside the track Where it's standing on.
00:24:12
Speaker
It's crazy. you would You could not have that. Yeah, like it it doesn't make, again, if we if we look too much into the show, it falls apart. so But you do you raise a good point of the whole like a billboard in the middle of the track.
00:24:29
Speaker
Okay, we're going to ignore that. ah But Ferb manages to dodge all the cars while Phineas is in his car playing his guitar.
00:24:41
Speaker
But as he we establish, um it would be a bass because he only has four fingers. And Ferb is playing the piano, which I found interesting because I'm like, who's driving the car if Ferb is playing the piano?
00:24:55
Speaker
Like, who's operating the car? But nonetheless, we get the we get the very catchy Go Phineas Go, which it's not not a good song.
00:25:06
Speaker
You don't like it? It's not my favorite. It really is not my favorite. I like it. It's a cute song. Like, it's a good, like, I love that the Firesight girls are background singers singing Go Phineas Go.
00:25:18
Speaker
Like, not only are they the pit crew, they're they're also, you know, the cheerleaders for this. Like, they're fans. And again, they're dancing in the trap.
00:25:29
Speaker
um Yeah. I have no defense for that. I really don't. It's because I watch a lot of motorsports and that would be crazy. That would be crazy to see. We finally cut Candice making it Mrs. Garcia's Shapiro's house to show mom the photo.
00:25:46
Speaker
And I cannot believe that during the entire drive, the entire ride to her house, she never looked at the photo. Because when she presents the photo to her mom, it's just the photo that the photographer took of her.
00:26:01
Speaker
i guess she was just determined to get home. She was just so sure she was going to get the boys with that photo. and ah At the realization that it's a photo of her, Candace screams so loud that even Dr. Doofenshmirtz heard it from his voice This is a point where we find out that the ray is actually powered by a mouse on a wheel.
00:26:23
Speaker
Which, again, i think, you know, we got to give credit where credit is due. And points for Dr. Doofenshmirtz using alternative energy. Minus points for, you know, trying to deflate everything in the city. But, you know, points nonetheless.
00:26:36
Speaker
That poor rat. The poor rat. Perry pulls out a collection of cheeses and launches the stinky cheese into Doofenshmirtz's pants, causing the rodent to jump off the wheel and into his pants.
00:26:50
Speaker
And that's when Dr. Doofenshmirtz's shrieks are so loud and so high pitched that it causes the glass dome to break. We get a whole chain of events happening here after this all at once. So the deflatornator ray goes off and then it hits a big mirror that then bounces back, hits the Doofenshmirtz blimp.
00:27:10
Speaker
We go back to Candace at the Garcia Shapiro's house and Candace realizes that the race is still on TV. When she turns on the TV, she spots, she sees the shot of Phineas finishing the race.
00:27:24
Speaker
And then mom reluctantly gets up from her bridge game once again for what Candace hopes is going to be like the, she's going he's she's going to see them finish the race and see like that Phineas has won.
00:27:36
Speaker
But just before her mom even gets to the living room, The blimp hits the broadcasting tower. We cut back to the speedway where Duvinshmirtz makes a quick getaway in the stock car and drives away.
00:27:50
Speaker
But Perry manages to end up with a remote. And he manages to drive them towards a car wash using the remote. We then come back to Candace ah at home because, you know, I assume that the mom was so irritated with Candace's kind of whole...
00:28:09
Speaker
shenanigans of trying to bust the boys so Candace returns home she notices that the garage is empty and she's like ah there it is there's my proof and and that the boys had and her proof is that the boys have done something to the car and the car's not there we cut back to the car wash to find that Perry the platypus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz are fighting in the car wash Doofenshmirtz is ejected out of the car wash and just Before Perry is about to like make his getaway.
00:28:40
Speaker
He steps on the eject button. Which completely ejects the car up into space. With him on it. And then back down to earth. Where Candace banging down the Garcia Shapiro's house front door again and is screaming multiple times.
00:28:56
Speaker
I also have this clip of the soundbite of her just like banging on the door. i also send it to my mom when it's a dire emergency. When I desperately want my mom to like answer me, I'll send it to her.
00:29:10
Speaker
That's the one I use in emergencies. Yeah. And at this point, Candace is done with Mrs. Garcia Shapiro's formalities, and she just rushes into her house, grabs her mom and forcefully drags her across the street into the garage. And at this point, we only get the shot of just the mom and Candace showing her what what what Candace thinks is a empty garage.
00:29:32
Speaker
But what it actually ends up being is the car nicely washed and the boys return home. And I guess they really did walk home because they have their they're carrying their giant first place trophy. Mom offers them some snacks and Candace is left in the garage mouth agape, not believing her luck again.
00:29:50
Speaker
that she did not catch the boys again this time. So Maria, what did you think of the fast and the Phineas? I want to say that um at the end, the mom says, honey, close your mouth.
00:30:02
Speaker
And um I've been told that by my mother multiple times before. I just thought it was a funny gag. um also want to say, I want to ask, um the car had a number 42.
00:30:19
Speaker
Is there a reference to that or is it just just a random... thing i i was looking at the trivia for this so they don't mention anything about the number 42 and as to why it's there i think that might have just been an animator's choice i could be wrong someone you can correct me more than welcome to um i will point out that the two announcers in the show the the announcers for the race were
00:30:50
Speaker
are actually based off of the show's creators, Swampy and Dan. but they're actually not voiced um they're not voiced by them they're voiced by someone one else so it's presumed that uh on the right hand side the the guy with the green shirt that's supposed to be dan povenmeyer and on the left is supposed to be swampy at least that's what the fandom wiki has told me so but i could be wrong i could have flipped them those two
00:31:23
Speaker
But I feel like it's very obvious to see as to who's who, especially if you've seen a photo of them. They do look like that. Or at least they did because now they look a little bit older. Also, I want to ask, do you think that Perry had that suitcase of of emergency cheese because he wanted to snack Do you think that's a snack box?
00:31:47
Speaker
Because I want to believe in my mind that that's kind of a snack box. And that just came in handy for the situation.
00:31:57
Speaker
I never thought of that. I really never did. i my wonderment, I like how we came up to different conclusions on this. My wonderment was more of, so of where was Perry keeping the snack box, this cheese box with the, with the little, like, I don't know what that thing is, but the little thing that he used to launch the cheese into do finish March pants.
00:32:18
Speaker
Where did he keep that? Like he has no pockets. Yeah. from what i From what I know from watching the show many times over, is that occasionally Perry does have things hidden in his hat.
00:32:29
Speaker
But that was like a whole box just like hidden away. Where did you put that? But I feel like that's one of the answers. that That's one of the questions that we'll never get an answer to. We're just going to have to use our imagination as to whether or not Perry brought that so that he could use it as a snack box or if he actually where he kept it. We don't know.
00:32:54
Speaker
Because, well, this is what I think. Either it's its it's his snap box and um he just it was just convenient to use it at that time.
00:33:06
Speaker
Or there was another situation where he needed a some cheeses, an emergency cheese, and did not have one. So now he's prepared by bringing...
00:33:18
Speaker
his emergency cheese. and think you raise a good point of the fact that like maybe he knew at so on some level that duen schmirt would be too cheap to like actually well not cheap because he's not cheap clearly not because he bought a whole blimp ah but he will try to cut corners and maybe he knows that he likes to use animals to power his machines And the cheese was just something convenient, like you said.
00:33:45
Speaker
Perry's just thinking 10 steps ahead. For real. Like he, he is definitely, i feel like one of the, one of Alka's best agents.
00:33:57
Speaker
And I even think Major Monogram makes a point of that at some point too. yeah Any other remarks? No, that was just my main one. Cause I was like, and I also was checking which cheeses he brought.
00:34:09
Speaker
And I mean, it's a good selection of cheeses. true he maybe he was just like he knew that he wanted like a charcuterie board for lunch today but it it was a fun episode like i said i enjoyed it so this next episode is the beach party episode which once again like we've like i've said before it's actually called a the the lawn gnome beach party of terror we'll just we're just going to call it the beach episode because i'm not going to repeat that title like over and over again It's a very confusing title.
Episode Recap: 'The Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror'
00:34:38
Speaker
So it actually gets a different name at some point because they did do like a I never saw it, but there was a marathon apparently that they did about. So Doofenshmirtz apparently changes a lot of what happens in different episodes. Like it was called it was a marathon called Spot the Diff, which Doofenshmirtz made a different innator and they would play the episodes back to back. So to see if you can spot the differences in each episode.
00:35:05
Speaker
So they actually renamed it into something else, but I don't know the name of that. So this this episode starts off not too differently from the other episode, but what is different about this episode is that it starts off with a voiceover of a tertiary character, the morning DJ.
00:35:22
Speaker
And he's talking about how the heat wave that's kind of going through Danville and to prove that it really is hot outside, a bird flies like close to the sun and then it burns to a crisp.
00:35:36
Speaker
What a funny gag. Because here in Texas, we'll eventually feel that way where we're like, it is so hot outside. The birds are even like gone. But the boys are chilling like underneath their tree, listening to the radio.
00:35:49
Speaker
Phineas declares that they can't let a little heat wave stop them because if they do, then the morning DJ wins. And so the mom comes ah comes outside with Candace to see what Phineas and Ferb have already decided to do And it's so adorable. The boys have already got their swim trunks Ferb's got a little puka necklace.
00:36:12
Speaker
If that doesn't scream early 2000s, I don't know what does. And they are pouring water into their sandbox. And that's when mom kind of asks them what they're going to do today. And, you know, they tell them, we're just going to build a beach in the backyard.
00:36:30
Speaker
and the mom lets them know that she's going to be out for the day. She's going to be at her spa. Candace automatically assumes that she's going to be in charge by default because there are no other adults in the house and they can't disturb their dad because he's cleaning out the garage.
00:36:47
Speaker
And as they try to fill up their little sandbox, they come to the conclusion that they're going to need more sand. And we cut to Agent P's storyline. He goes to his hideout, which is in a... he goes to his hideout in a different way than in the last couple of episodes. He uses an entrance on the side of the house.
00:37:05
Speaker
I would assume, and he uses this kind of like little mushroom lawn ornaments, and he just goes landing in the hideout, and he gets his little hat, and and he gets his assignment for Major Monogram, that all the lawn gnomes are disappearing from the gardens across the tri-state area, and they suspect that Dr. Doofinchmertz is behind it.
00:37:26
Speaker
And without these lawn gnomes, yeah they're wondering who is going to protect their gardens from dark magic. i've never heard of this before i don't know i is this which here put here's a question in general is that why people have lawn gnomes to protect them from dark magic or is that like a myth have none i mean i guess i honestly don't know don't know
00:38:02
Speaker
Um, but I guess it's more of a European thing. i don't, yeah, I don't think we have anything equivalent to that, me personally. So, that's why I was wondering, like, you put, that's why you have those ugly little statues in your lawn is because you want to protect your garden from dark magic. But anyhow, we cut back to Phineas signing for the delivery of the truckload of sand.
00:38:25
Speaker
And the contractor once again asks him if he's a little bit too young to be a landscape contractor. And he says, yes, yes, he is. And Isabella comes by to see what the boys are doing.
00:38:37
Speaker
And upon hearing that the boys are building a backyard beach, Isabella automatically volunteers herself once again with her and her, the fireside girls, to be lifeguards so that they can earn their aquatic safety badges.
00:38:50
Speaker
You know, for, you know, again, were we're going to mention this a lot throughout. I feel like throughout the episodes that we that we watch that Isabella is very obsessed with this boy.
00:39:03
Speaker
But, you know, she's being a good fireside girl leader because she's finding opportunities for her and her friends to earn patches. And it's some great initiative that Isabella shows.
00:39:17
Speaker
I think that it shows that she's determined. Yeah. She she is going to be very, very determined to pursue Phineas. Not like at all costs, but she's she's not that obvious.
00:39:28
Speaker
She's, okay, so comparing, let's let's take a moment and let's compare the fact of how Isabella's obsessed with Phineas and she really, really likes his boy. And let's compare that to Candace's like obsession also with Jeremy.
00:39:46
Speaker
Like, I feel like they're probably like on the same spectrum, but maybe like Isabella's a little bit more subtle about it. Like it's noticeable to us, right?
00:39:58
Speaker
to like us, the audience that Isabella really, really likes Phineas and it's not noticeable to the boy. So, well, it's not noticeable to Phineas himself. um And meanwhile, Candace is very, very obsessed with Jeremy. And even to the point where Jeremy knows also.
00:40:15
Speaker
ah But he plays it cool. He's just like, oh, she likes me. So adorable the way she gets all up in her head about, like do I like her? Do I not like her? It's very adorable.
00:40:26
Speaker
So that was my little tangent. To your point, you said that um she uses her skills as and her friends, the Fireside Squad, to you know get get stuff done. taking advantage of...
00:40:45
Speaker
they're getting and they're taking advantage Of the situation. Yeah for sure. But you know at least. I feel like at least they're getting something out of it. You know. There are some times when no one gets anything out of it.
00:40:58
Speaker
There is a point where. Candace is trying to impress Jeremy at one point. And her best friend Stacy. Who we're going to actually meet in this episode a little later. She gets nothing from it. And I'm just like. Why are you friends with her?
00:41:11
Speaker
She's obsessed with this boy. And ah brings no comfort to it. Like she. I don't know. Maybe that's just a range of best friends. So we we cut to Candace chilling in her living room.
00:41:26
Speaker
And we once again get that gag of the big bay window being in the background and the boys just passing through. All while Candace is on the phone talking to her best friend Stacy.
00:41:38
Speaker
Voiced by Kelly who, don't know if I pronounced that name right, but... I have trouble with last names, clearly. And so from context clues, we can tell that i I'm going to tell you what the conversation they have is in this because i I love this conversation.
00:41:59
Speaker
But anyways, from context clues, we can tell that Susie's having a party. And from what I can tell is that Candace was invited second. Katie and... Hold on. There's so many names in this that I'm going to get twisted at some point. Okay. So if I repeat myself, I'm sorry.
00:42:19
Speaker
Susie invited Katie, who is her lab partner, before she invited Candice. And Candice's argument is that she should have been invited first before Katie because Candice and Susie are locker neighbors and locker neighbors trump lab partners.
00:42:36
Speaker
And I will say this much that this is such a teenage girl argument, but I 100% stand behind Candace's reasoning. She is 100% correct, at least in my opinion.
00:42:50
Speaker
Someone, again, can correct me. Because although, so I didn't use lockers in high school, I used them in middle school. But to go off of Candice's point, I did see my locker neighbor every single day. And if I went to my locker about three times a day, like in the morning, midday, and then in the afternoon, I saw my locker neighbor three times a day. And if we were going to go by the fact that in high school, I had lab partners and we had an A, B block schedule, which meant we had like different classes every other day, that would mean I would see my lab partner maybe two or three times a week, depending on whether or not it was an A or B week.
00:43:30
Speaker
And there might be some math involved, but I'm not going to do that math. But I would go under the assumption that I would have seen my locker neighbor more often than I would have seen my lab partner.
00:43:42
Speaker
In conclusion, Candace is 100% correct, and she should have been invited to that party before Katie. That's my case. I don't know if you agree with me, Maria, but that's my um two cents.
00:43:56
Speaker
Locker neighbors, Trump's... Laugh partners? Um... No. I would say partners, Trump.
Debate: Locker Neighbors vs. Lab Partners
00:44:06
Speaker
Locker neighbors.
00:44:10
Speaker
Because I feel like in the lab, you're hanging out more in the lab. And the lockers is just by like a past... You're just there for a couple of minutes and then you're gone.
00:44:23
Speaker
So it's not like... and And sometimes you're not going to even see them. um So I feel like in laugh partners, you get more um time together. So as laugh partners, you get to know the other person better.
00:44:40
Speaker
So I feel like laugh partners is better than lager neighbors. I love that you have a different opinion than than me, but I 100% think you're wrong. But some people don't go to their lagers all the time. ah the I still saw my locker neighbor pretty often. Like, my locker neighbor was the one who taught me how to use my locker combination. I did not know that for the longest time.
00:45:00
Speaker
And she was kind enough to teach me how to do it and even open my locker when it was stuck. And so I saw her way more often than I would see, like, a lab partner because, like, I...
00:45:12
Speaker
In high school, in my high school, we had the A, B block schedule. So that's when we would have like lab partners in science class. Right. So depending on when I would have science, I maybe saw if it was an A or B week, I maybe saw my lab partner two or three times a day.
00:45:31
Speaker
There were some lab partners that I had who were not communicative at all. And then there were some lab partners who, like, again, i only saw two or three times a week. and we never made friends outside of class.
00:45:44
Speaker
So my argument is that... Candice is correct. I guess it just depends on the experiences because for lab partners in my experience um we would see ah i would see my left partner every single day during lab but um i didn didn't like I just had science a science class every single day so I would always hang out with them But I feel like you have and an actual, like, I don't know howla how long class is usually.
00:46:18
Speaker
but I think it was like 50 minutes. you So you have like a long time hanging out with that love partner. Maybe you're not the best of friends, but you're still working on something together. You're still like...
00:46:33
Speaker
you know, trying to achieve whatever is for a lab that day. So you have more of a one-on-one with your lab partner. So that's, that's my argument.
00:46:44
Speaker
I guess so. I guess we'll forever be, remain divided on this, but I always made that point. I don't know if there's anyone else who agrees with me or who, ah I don't know if there's anyone out there who agrees with you, Maria. So we'll find out hopefully over the course of this, we'll find out.
00:47:00
Speaker
ah Candace hears a dolphin and that's what kind of gets her attention to go outside to see what the boys are doing. And automatically she comes outside and the boys present the beach, which Candace is under the assumption that it's just like little kitty sandbox.
00:47:15
Speaker
Is there Beach and then when ah when a beach ball hits Candace on the head she notices that they've actually created a whole like beach side property because their house is their house's fence is converted into a deck and then they go on the beach coast they have like a beach coastline which is really cool.
00:47:35
Speaker
Candace is immediately ready to call her mom, but that's when her friends Stacy and Jenny come by. Jenny, who, by the way, is voiced by Ariel Winter of Modern Family fame, but she also voiced Sophia in Sophia the First. So...
00:47:51
Speaker
There's that. And as soon as her friends come by, she has a complete change of opinion about whether or not she should call mom to tell them, tell on the boys because they, they make, they tell her like, she's going to be the most popular girl in the neighborhood.
00:48:06
Speaker
And Stacy mentions that Jeremy and his buddies are on their way with their surfboards and And that's when canda Candace drops everything and she gets dressed for the beach. We get back to Agent P's storyline and he's dressed up as a lawn gnome.
00:48:22
Speaker
Presumably to to get into Doofenshmirtz's lair. And he's at the side of the house and he's sucked into the ground and ends up on this kind of conveyor belt with all these other lawn gnomes that are being sucked out from the tri-state area.
00:48:39
Speaker
And Dr. Doofenshmirtz is just observing all these lawn gnomes come in. And he notices Perry as a lawn gnome. And of course he's this teal green platypus with an orange beak that he mentions. This is a strange looking gnome.
00:48:53
Speaker
And Doofenshmirtz picks him up and then he gets immediately punched in the face by Perry. And this might be the first time we actually get the whole like, who are you, platypus? And then he like puts on his hat and he's like, Perry the platypus?
00:49:08
Speaker
And it's never not going to be funny at the fact that Doofenshmirtz can never distinguish between a platypus and Perry the platypus. Like as soon as he sees a platypus, he thinks it's just a normal platypus.
00:49:21
Speaker
And only when he puts on the hat will he be like, it's Perry the platypus. Like it's his nemesis. and It's just so funny. That's just the one of the best running gags ever. Yeah.
00:49:36
Speaker
For being an evil scientist that he can't put two and two together. Really gets a laugh out of you every single time. And once again we get the gag of you know there being multiple remotes that have multiple things. Because Doofenshmirtz tries to trap Barry the platypus. But he every single remote that he tries doesn't work. Like one opens the garage. Another one turns on the TV.
00:50:00
Speaker
So eventually he finds the right remote and traps Barry the platypus.
00:50:06
Speaker
And so this is where Doofenshmirtz is going to lay his whole plan as to why he's going to why he's going to take all these lawn gnomes. Why he's taken all these lawn gnomes in the first place.
00:50:17
Speaker
And we get this is the first time we're going to get the many many one of the many horrific tragic backstories. But before we get to his backstory, we cut back to Phineas and Ferb at the beach and they get this beach party started.
00:50:32
Speaker
And you get the song called so if Summer Only Lasted One Day. And it sounds very reminiscent of like the Beach Boys, very like nineteen sixty s I actually prefer this song over Phineas Go phineasco because it has more lyrics. It's very summer forward song.
00:50:52
Speaker
I like both songs. I'm just a hater. But i i i do like I do like this song better than Phineas Go a little bit. We come back to Jeremy waxing his surfboard and Candice comes with some pineapple drinks and then she gets hit in the head with a coconut that lands and then she lands on a crab.
00:51:10
Speaker
The crab carries her way and she stumbles into a limbo contest and wins and is crowned Queen Wahine of the Beach. And this is where we get...
00:51:23
Speaker
the catchiest song in the first season like it's one of the catchiest songs and there's no argument here to like me personally i would i would definitely put this song over go finneas go over over if summer only lasted one day maybe even over perry the platypus's theme song but there's a case to be made about that whoa whoa Whoa, I just love this song so much. It's called Backyard Beach. To answer maybe a question that you probably have, no, this isn't Ferb actually singing the song.
Music Highlights and Environmental Concerns
00:51:57
Speaker
It's actually sung by Danny Jacob. He's the composer and he's basically the composer for a lot of this, ah for a lot of the the songs for the show.
00:52:08
Speaker
It's so, like the lyrics are so nonsensical. Like, hold on, give me a second and I'll look up the lyrics. they write ah it's very rhymey. Like, you know how they like it's It's a very rhyming song, but you don't notice it because it's sung in kind of like this reggae tone.
00:52:25
Speaker
Because like literally the lyrics are um ah backyard beach. Nothing's out of reach when we got a backyard beach. I know that that rhyming beach with reach isn't like, you know, high levels of like musical accompaniment, but it is so good.
00:52:43
Speaker
it is so much fun. you can change in a you can change in a broken hut drink out of a coconut three games for a token but the rest is free see like all of these words like rhyme but don't rhyme like i don't know what you would call that you gotta you gotta skin pair of saline surfing in a flailing your contacts need saline or else you can't see don't fall into the beach you got a backyard beach it's not It's not my favorite song, but I definitely, it's it's up there. It's up there with catchiest songs.
00:53:14
Speaker
And again, an argument can be made that it might be a little bit more catchier than then Perry the Platypus' theme. But also, I don't know all the lyrics to this song as I know the lyrics to Perry the Platypus' theme song. so I just prefer Perry the Platypus' song over this song.
00:53:32
Speaker
It's still very catchy song, the song but it's just Perry the Platypus. It's just the... I like it so much. So Candace is having the time of her life because not only does she have Jeremy's attention, she's the queen of the beach and she's pretty popular at this point and extremely happy.
00:53:52
Speaker
We cut to the mom being at the spa and she makes the realization that Candace has not called her once or even texted her. So mom decides that she's going to cut her spa day short and go home.
00:54:03
Speaker
But this is when we cut back to Perry and Dr. Doofenshmirtz and... We see what looks like he's gone through like an entire drunk drawer to find the right remote so that he can give his tragic backstory.
00:54:18
Speaker
Now, this that this is the first tragic backstory that we have of Dr. Doofenshmirtz. So good. I definitely want to get what you think about this, but I will set the i will set the stage.
00:54:29
Speaker
We learn that Dr. Doofenshmirtz is from Drusolstinia from Gimelschum. And that the Doofenshmirtz family fell on hard times. So they their garden lawn gnome was repossessed.
00:54:41
Speaker
And who was going to protect their garden from witches, spells, and wood trolls? And from a tender age, his father decided that it was going to be Hines, who was going to protect their family's garden by dressing him up as a ah lawn gnome.
00:54:56
Speaker
and having him to stand outside for hours to the point where the only companion he had was the moon and his neighbor Kenny. He decided from that since his lawn gnome was repossessed, he will now destroy all lawn gnomes in the entire tri-state area.
00:55:13
Speaker
As you know, I guess he was, you know, healing or something. But this might be one of the most famous backstories of Doofenshmirtz.
00:55:25
Speaker
It's not the best backstory, but the fact that he only had no, he had no companion except for his neighbor, Kenny and the moon. what What's your take on this Maria? I really want to know like, this was your first glimpse as to like his tragic backstories.
00:55:41
Speaker
I think it's very sad. and He had no friends. And why did he have to stand outside for that long? oh the the story continues. I promise you that. I promise that this story actually has more meat in its bones than it and then it actually seems.
00:55:58
Speaker
I don't want to spoil it for you so I'm not going to tell you anything else other than that like this story has like multiple like this is the root of his trauma and it will like continue to spur on multiple multiple like evil schemes and inators and things like that.
00:56:15
Speaker
But this is where Doofenshmirtz unveils his Destructionator. And he's just about to activate it when he pushes the remote to release Perry instead of activating the Destructionator.
00:56:30
Speaker
And then we get the cartoonish fight between Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus. But before we get to that conclusion, we get to we get back to the beach party where the radio DJ comes back again announcing a surf contest.
00:56:45
Speaker
We're introduced to another secondary character. His name is Buford Von Storm. He's voiced by ah Bobby Gaylor. He's primarily like a writer and a comedian, an actor.
00:56:58
Speaker
and so Buford is basically the local bully. And he tries to bully Phineas to move out of the way.
00:57:06
Speaker
for the sign-up sheet to the to the surfing contest but Phineas being two steps ahead of everyone else is like you missed the sign back there but there's no bullying or yodeling at this beach so the surfing contest begins with Bobby Nelson and Buford ends up swimming underneath ah Bobby Nelson's like surfboard and flips him over then We get Dango Brown.
00:57:34
Speaker
And he is then pummeled because like Brueford is comes up surfing on the side and jumps off his surfboard and hits and basically knocks Dango off his surfboard.
00:57:48
Speaker
And then he ends up beating him with Bobby Nelson. That is some very, very like very heavy bullying right there. But that's besides the point anyways. And then Phineas comes Phineas is like surfing.
00:58:01
Speaker
But he's like surfing in a very unique way. So he's like laying down reading. don't think he's reading. I think he's sun tanning. But we and then when Euford tries to take out Phineas, he finds out that it's actually hologram that Phineas is projected. Once again, proving the point that Phineas is like two steps ahead of everyone else.
00:58:19
Speaker
And he wins the surfing contest. And then it's at this point that Candace is getting her moment with Jeremy when they get a slow song to play. And they're about to slow dance. But then her phone rings and Her phone is presented to her by Ferb on a platter.

i find that funny. And so when she answers the phone, mom is just a little like cautious. Like, why is Candace answering the phone with such a calm tone? Because she's a little too calm when she answers the phone.
00:58:48
Speaker
And she just tells her everything is great. The boys are wonderful. And the only thing that snaps her out of it is the fact that mom is coming home. So Candace runs out to meet her mom to stop her from going into the backyard.
00:59:02
Speaker
Another first. I don't know if we ever see that again. So the fight between... Between Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus basically kind of comes to its end. With Perry the Platypus pushing Doofenshmirtz towards a lever that activates the machine that sucked all the lawn gnomes down.
00:59:20
Speaker
But instead it will blow the lawn gnomes out onto the beach. And everyone runs away. cut back to like mom asking what's going on. And Candace basically gives mom the quick synopsis of what happened throughout the day.
00:59:34
Speaker
We then come back to Perry the platypus fighting Doofenshmirtz and he hits him again. But this time the lever switches the other way. Instead of blowing out, it ends up sucking all the water that the boys had used to build the beach.
00:59:48
Speaker
and And that kind of just ends the beach party without any water. There's no beach. All the while, Candace is still doing her long spiel of events of what happened that day.
01:00:01
Speaker
And Perry the platypus kind of comes out of the of the hole that sucked in all the water and crawls out of it. Basically, that closes out the day and the boys and Isabella leave the beach as the entire neighborhood is chancing Phineas and Ferb.
01:00:13
Speaker
Candace kind of has a little mini breakdown because the whole beach is gone and she didn't get her moment with Jeremy. So she's very devastated about that. The mom suggests that that she go inside, that she had her fun and and maybe it's time to go back inside.
01:00:26
Speaker
The episode basically ends, you know, how it started with the with Phineas and Ferb chilling underneath the tree, listening to the same radio dejay Perry the Platypus sleeping between them.
01:00:38
Speaker
So the tag scene for this episode is the Perry the Platypus theme song. This song is actually a little bit shorter, like the tag scene that they have here. is a little bit shorter than what the actual song is.
01:00:52
Speaker
Because i do thoroughly remember that the song is actually a little bit longer than this because ah if you listen to the full song, if you find it like on Spotify, um there is a part where...
01:01:05
Speaker
major monogram interrupts the singer when he's singing um it's perry perry the platypus and the singer keeps repeating that line and major monogram interrupts and he says you just can call him agent p but the singer keeps ignoring him and he says i said you can call him agent p and then eventually at the very very tail end the final bridge of the song is literally just like agent p and that's how the song ends which i really love that so i really love it to the point where i myself was trying to like interrupt the song and i was waiting for them to have major monogram interrupt the singer to be like you can call him agent p maria what are your thoughts on this episode on the beach episode and just kind of the tag scene at the end of this
01:01:55
Speaker
I really enjoyed this whole episode, episode two from both stories. um This last one, I just thought the water bill is going to go crazy.
01:02:10
Speaker
Because they used so much water and so much sand. Where did the sand go? That was my main concern the whole time ah towards the end.
01:02:21
Speaker
And then, you know, the Perry theme song, I enjoyed. I enjoyed. I, I, this is one of my favorite episodes. Like, like I said in the last episode, I really would have preferred that this, uh, the backyard beach episode and the rollercoaster episode were paired together. Cause it's, it's so much fun. You get the musical elements of the show. You get a sense of what they're going to do from that, from that episode forward.
01:02:50
Speaker
I do prefer the Beach episode over the Fast and the Phineas. It's not one of my favorites. I do get a nostalgic feeling from it. But I'm not going to like run to watch this episode whenever I want to watch Phineas and Ferb. I'd probably choose another episode.
01:03:08
Speaker
I feel like I'm going to remember more of the musical elements of the of this episode. Because they're some good songs in this episode.
01:03:19
Speaker
Yeah, like the so the so I think I'll have like the opposite effect of it. Where I will remember the Fast and the Phineas more so for like the the my favorite like little sound bites.
01:03:31
Speaker
The audio gags of Candice running and looking for mom. And that's going to be more memorable for me than the actual episode itself. Whereas for like the beach episode, I will remember the music and Doofenshmirtz's tragic backstory.
01:03:46
Speaker
i feel like we mentioned this before, but the catchy songs at the end. If we were going to tier rank like this... we were going to tier rank this episode it would definitely be high up there but if we were going to just tier rank like the the songs of this episode which i feel like we should start like building like a list of the songs off the bat i feel like backyard beach definitely has to be for me an s and the perry the platypus theme song could be like I want to say S tier as well, but it could it could alternate between that and like the Doofenshmirtz jingle. i feel like as as much as fun as it is, it's only just a jingle and it's only like a snippet.
01:04:29
Speaker
So I would have to put it in the B tier. i I don't know I wish I was more prepared for this but maybe next time do you want me to do a tier list we can start doing a tier list um and do the tier list of songs and um as we go along we um grade the songs I think that's a good idea Yeah, we're going to have to start doing that. And I will tell you why.
01:04:56
Speaker
Because towards the latter end of the season, of season one, they actually do a clip show, right? And it was a clip show based on, like, fans. So they they had, like, a call for, like, all fans to vote their top ten favorite Phineas and Ferb songs.
01:05:16
Speaker
And I want to see, Maria, if you could probably, like, guess which songs made it to the top ten. Because I know the top 10. I voted for the top 10.
01:05:27
Speaker
And i will let you know if you get if you get anything right. well We'll see if we come up with like an incentive or something for you, Maria. Yeah, we can do that because I feel like I feel like I'm going to pick my own like top tier.
01:05:43
Speaker
But then I have to think about like in general, what did the the fans of the show really enjoyed and loved? Basically, based off of what I have told you, what I have said, you have to like take that into account as well.
01:05:58
Speaker
Okay. I will do that. But yeah, I mean, we can keep up on the tier list. and Alright, but that was episode two. So
Preview of Upcoming Episodes
01:06:09
Speaker
that was the Fast and the Phineas and the Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror.
01:06:16
Speaker
The Beach Party episode, basically. And so next week we're going to cover episode three. So that's going to be the Magnificent View and Swinter. And honestly, I completely forgot what the Magnificent View was, but I do remember Swinter.
01:06:30
Speaker
And that's going to be all from that's goingnna be all from us. Any last thoughts, Maria? I'm excited for what's to come. And I will just leave you all with, honey, close your mouth.
