D20 radio, your game is roll.
00:01:11
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Ever Unrenewed, an actual play podcast at the Everon campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. And we're all together again. Hey, look at that. Welcome everyone to Ever Unrenewed. And yeah, what happened last time, everyone? Man, this is a real Jeff intro. Jeffed that one. No, it's cool.
00:01:38
Speaker
That's true.

Meeting Cassian and the Mission Brief

00:01:39
Speaker
So yeah, so we met a fellow named Cassian. Yep. Who explained to us all sorts of wild stuff about multiverses and time jumping. And he needs us to escort him to Kyber to get a big dragon shard. And he was very clear that a bunch of little dragon shards wouldn't work. Or Kyber shards, pardon me. Yep. Anything else? That's like, that's
00:02:05
Speaker
I think that's what happened. There was a fight at the beginning of it. Yeah, wrapped up a fight of some desk people trying to move in on your turf. Hob is very hurt. That is also important. And Ace got knocked out too.
00:02:17
Speaker
That is less important, though. Yeah, we did revive Ace. Well, Raynard did proclaim Ace dead on the scene. He didn't do that. And boy, was there egg on his face when Ace woke up. Yup. Eris is also much hurt. Yup. OK, so yes, Cassian came to you all with a request, an offer of gold and gear.

Safe House and Mission Details

00:02:39
Speaker
And he was taking you all to his safe house. You all arrived at the door. Came to us with an attitude. What?
00:02:46
Speaker
What was his attitude? I didn't pick up on as much attitude as Philip seemed to have. No, I didn't either. I just thought it was... Eris was annoyed that he kept agreeing with everything she said when he was like, no, that's fair. Like, I understand why you don't believe me. True. And that seemed to bother Eris. That did bother Eris.
00:03:04
Speaker
Okay, so you all are outside the safe house he has used his gauntlet to reach up and has begun to they're like a Rune sigil appears and he traces something and the light follows his finger in the air and he stops halfway is like oh
00:03:22
Speaker
By the way, when we go in here, I have a companion that came with me on the solo job, not a person, but just don't be too surprised. Don't attack them, please. They're friendly, but I just want to give a heads up that there's somebody in here and they're supposed to be. And so little information. Not a person like how, say,
00:03:50
Speaker
Raynard here is not a person closest thing I guess for that like they're an automaton like yeah, right is the best thing I can do All right, it's like he's another pumpkin
00:04:10
Speaker
And as the door swings open, you see him kind of zipping out. It's shaped almost like a football with the front chopped off and kind of rounded. And it seems to be some kind of containment unit that buzzes around his head.
00:04:27
Speaker
And it's just kind of floating and then it stops and sees Eris and Eris it comes at you. But to anybody paying attention kind of startling, there's the the cutoff kind of rounded part.
00:04:43
Speaker
has swirling flames, but the flames in it form into a happy face as it buzzes around Eris and then kind of hovers near you. He's like, this is Bigby. Let's go inside. Like the wizard?
00:05:09
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, yeah. It's not actually Bigby. It's just named after Bigby. It's a fire elemental. Yeah. Come on in.
00:05:22
Speaker
And for those of you that do enter, you see a pretty modest set of bunk beds on one wall, a work desk against the far right-hand wall with a large board above it with various notes and things pinned. And then you see a series of chests along the wall.
00:05:49
Speaker
And each of them seem to have some form of labeling on them. And Cassian walks in and there's also a safe underneath the desk. And that's what you kind of see. But it looks pretty bare bones, pretty simple accommodations. It looks to be a very functional space.

Gear Distribution and Trust Building

00:06:10
Speaker
Milo walks over and starts looking at his notes on the wall.
00:06:13
Speaker
OK, the the notes you see, these are clearly notes and references left behind by other jumpers. It's like reference material and a lot of it is like certain figures that are alive or like, hey, these people are alive. These contacts are around like things like that. Like it's it's a check in point for the city of Sharn in this timeline kind of thing.
00:06:40
Speaker
So, yeah. You know, it's referencing us. So you all are under a section that has like, there's a bunch of names that are under a question mark. And so, unknown would be the assumption until presumably Cassie will probably update this at some point with like, hey, they're alive here. Kylie's name is also under the unknown banner as well.
00:07:09
Speaker
So, yeah. And then there's a bunch of other people that you don't recognize on there. But you see, you see King Borenel's travel schedule on there. You see some information like next to that about a known criminal assassin with some like information. So this is like information that Cassian was utilizing for his mission.
00:07:34
Speaker
Yeah, I was a little muddy. He's here because he was stopping an assassination on this Borano. Yes, correct. I was a little muddy on that, but okay. And based on what he told you, he was successful, but one of the companions of the assassin hit him with Dispel Magic and fried his components. Right, a bad batch of it, if I recall. Yeah, really, really powerful, potent batch of it.
00:07:55
Speaker
Yeah, if you all want to just take a seat or get comfortable, I'll get the gear and money that I promised you. And he goes over to one of the chests and leans down and another sigil thing pops up and he traces it and it opens and you see kind of a faint glowing light come out of it.
00:08:12
Speaker
And he pulls out, uh, four pieces of gear for each of you that I have already shared with the players, uh, what they're getting. Um, so, uh, hob, he kind of turns to you for you. And it's a harness that has some leather wrappings that go down around the wrist, but on the left wrist, there's like a, a metallic circle.
00:08:37
Speaker
It almost looks like a magnifying glass on the wrist, like it's a glass top with a metal ring around it, but it's not see-through, like you can't see the leather underneath is what it looks like. Eris, he hands you a pair of goggles that are
00:08:54
Speaker
They're not fully opaque, but they're not as like transparent as a standard set of goggles would be. From the front, they almost look like they would be opaque. Raynard hands you a very fancy-looking dagger with some runes carved into the hilt and the sheath, and Milo, he hands you a pair of gloves that
00:09:17
Speaker
I mean, existing in this world, the markings on it are faintly reminiscent of the Mark of Healing from House Drasko. That's kind of, it's not that, but it's reminiscent of it, you'd say. So, yeah, that's what he hands to you all.
00:09:37
Speaker
Does my harness kind of look like a welder's cape? Is that what we're going for? It can look like however you want to look. I just was giving a vague description of the... The important part was the forearm thing. So do you all want to share what the things do or leave it up to whenever it gets used or...? Hobbs new harness is the harness of finding. It raises my soak three points

Debate on Involving Cassian

00:09:59
Speaker
and my defense one point, which is fantastic. It has
00:10:04
Speaker
Two qualities. The first is that it gives me an unerring sense of direction of a familiar object or person within five miles, and that's passive. And then the other is if I deplete it, if I choose to deplete it, it has an invulnerable quality where all damage and wounds are reduced to zero for me until the end of my next turn. Is that an action? Do I have to spend my action to do that and then have another turn to go?
00:10:31
Speaker
So basically, Hob gets basically a full round in before, I thought it was a maneuver, he falls. Mine's a maneuver, I don't remember that. And with the finding thing, it has to be something you're familiar with. Yeah, I wrote that, I don't know, I may have not said it. Randy, Gloves of Vitality. Yes, Gloves of Vitality gives a plus three to wound threshold, and it has refreshing, deplete as a maneuver to heal all strain on self, or a target in short range,
00:11:01
Speaker
It's got also a restorative, which is essentially the same as refreshing, except you use it for your wounds. And then it's displacement. This is what I'm not sure I got exactly correct. I have a deplete when targeted to upgrade the check twice. From the result, use three threat or a despair and teleport a range band after the check is resolved. Yep.
00:11:29
Speaker
And it's a combat check specifically. So if you're being targeted by magic, that wouldn't be applicable. It's only if somebody's trying to hit you with a combat check.
00:11:44
Speaker
The goggles give plus two boost dice to all cunning checks, which Eric did possibly forgetting that Eris uses cunning for all of her combat skills as well, as well as having three things that basically let her
00:12:02
Speaker
be invisible, more or less. She can memory wipe people, if you feel good about the morality of that, and she can use them to seize control of robots, essentially, machines.
00:12:20
Speaker
Yeah. Not just clarification, because none of this stuff, none of these effects were made with Eberron in mind. Not applicable to Warforged, obviously, but it specifies non-sentient. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Just making sure Trevor. Based damage of five. What's the rating? Two. Yeah. Yeah. Nailed it. Yeah. Glad I got it. But the effect is maneuver to be invisible end of encounter. And what color is it?
00:12:46
Speaker
Fancy. I don't know, it's invisible. Cassian just pants in mind saying, here's a dagger of invisibility for you. It's a fake dagger. Not real. And then, as if you believe it. Has no weight, or either. It's really weird. So Cassian turns to you, Hob, and is explaining. So with the finding thing, while you're wearing it, or even while you're holding it,
00:13:13
Speaker
want to think of somebody that you know that's not here you can see how it works because it's basically on that display down there if you want to test it out now so you understand how it works but if not that's fine you don't have to say anything out loud you can just think of someone all right he just he looks down at his wrist and the dot he's not gonna
00:13:35
Speaker
He's not gonna be like, I wonder what Cath is up to. Can we just ask where Eris is? Well, no, Eris, it would just glow red. You wouldn't get a display because when you're within short range. Oh, that's right, that's right.

Demonstrating Bigby's Abilities

00:13:45
Speaker
You just know you're within short range. Savia's working. Okay, he does Savia. Yeah, so you see a little red pip at the edge in the direction back home. And if you turn it, you can...
00:13:58
Speaker
It accounts for, like if you hold it this way, then it's up, down, direction, or left, right. If it's this way, then it's, so it adjusts based on the plane that you're holding it. Gloves pretty straightforward, wear them, and heel, dagger straightforward, heiress looking through the goggles. I get it. Okay. Okay. It's almost certainly a lie. She'll figure it out later.
00:14:24
Speaker
Okay, and he goes over to the safe and grabs coin purse out of it and starts counting the money on his desk to hand out. He's like, okay, so now that we're
00:14:36
Speaker
Alone, this is an anti-scrying, got a fair amount of protection on it to where anybody that might have pioneers wouldn't be able to listen in if they wanted to. I'm more than happy to prove myself to you like you asked back in the four sales.
00:14:57
Speaker
I remember asking, and you said that all you could do, sorry, all I remember from 10 minutes is you saying that I could ask you questions about myself. What was the way, Eric, what was it? You're right. Cassian says, well, the versions of you that I know value their privacy. And so sitting in a diner somewhere, I'm not just going to start rambling off things that you would have shared with me personally.
00:15:26
Speaker
in public, so that's why I said you could ask me things so I can verify, since those would be things you would be comfortably saying. I'm now more than happy to prove to you the things I know about you now that we're not just a random person walks in and hears something that you don't want a random person to hear. I was trying to be respectful without being obvious about it in that way, if that makes sense. Like, so. I'm starting to come down to Eris' opinion of this guy.
00:15:55
Speaker
Uh, it's the, it's the, I know you and we're best friends. You just don't know it. That's what it is. That's what the attitude is. Um, done this enough times. It has to know that's irritating. Hob still doesn't know, like has no idea. Like hob doesn't, I don't know what to ask you. You don't have to, I can just tell you what I know. If you prefer. That works for me.
00:16:21
Speaker
Okay. Milo, you're born and raised in Sharn, grew up basically in the generational tavern Kegbottoms that was started in your family. You met your wife Kylie in Kegbottoms when she came in with her father to ask a favor of Roland, Satan's father as part of the clan. You fell in love at first sight.
00:16:43
Speaker
Although it did take you some initial getting over the notion of why would this woman fall for you. But once you did, you were completely happy. You began working as a collector for the Boromar clan. Vega, once he joined in, worked as your enforcer. And then you fell in with this crew. And Kylie worked the books. You were a collector. So that's, I mean,
00:17:12
Speaker
I feel like you know more about me than I know about myself. You share too much.
00:17:17
Speaker
I think a lot of people probably know a lot of that. I mean, well, Kylie was happy working the books until she found discrepancies in the books that she was uncomfortable with and feared for your all's lives and began trying to convince you that it was best if you all left the clan life behind for your safety. And that time is when the lighthouse connected with her and the rest deviates from your timeline. So. Wait, wait, the lighthouse connected with
00:17:48
Speaker
Kylie? Yeah. We saw Kylie's potential, knew that she'd be a valuable asset, offered her a gig. She took it because it was a way of getting you all out of the clan. So, drain year.
00:18:07
Speaker
I mean, this one, I feel like this is even more public knowledge than Milo, but ex-member of House Fearland, until you stole money from the family. Your dad, Calvare, hates you. Your brother, Alistair, is embarrassed of you. Basil, your cousin pities you, and your mom, Esther, still loves you.
00:18:27
Speaker
And you deal with all of this one of two ways, either excessive drinking or ignoring that there's ever been a problem. And with your former friends, you still act like you have an opulent lifestyle. And with your current friends, you keep them in an arm's distance, refusing to acknowledge anything's wrong. But you did not know I have a cat. Aha!
00:18:53
Speaker
All right, sure. Where did the Lighthouse Consortium find me? The version of you was teamed up with Kylie and Keg Bottoms and came on board. Kylie asked you if you wanted to, and you had developed a strong enough rapport and relationship with them to where you came along.
00:19:18
Speaker
I mean, it tracks, I don't know. I was really hoping maybe they pulled me from the monastery and that was a coincidence and then they could have a story for me. No, I mean, the monastery was something that, I mean, I think it tracks pretty well with this timeline where your teacher, Arik Stormpool, started getting on about some divine sparks being greater than others. Tannen Elmore told you to be quiet and stop questioning things, which caused you to leave.
00:19:44
Speaker
Came to Charn when you first joined up with Boromar. This is a definite divergent point. Some of the members of the clan decided to give you a halfling surname, Hob.
00:19:53
Speaker
their black eyes communicated to everyone else that you weren't interested in that, and so you went by Vega after that point. Well, that guy's an idiot. Hobbs is the best name. I love Vietnam. Yeah, Vega's stupid. Hey, wait. Hang on. What? Hang on. That's still his name. That is, in fact, the name my parents gave me. No, it's Vega North. You're rude. It's just rude, everything. What's going on? What did I do? Muffin. Oh, OK. My mother, who will name Vega, did that.
00:20:30
Speaker
Rainard narrates that conversation. He just

Planning Jason's Confrontation

00:20:36
Speaker
kind of looks at theirs. I can keep going, but I mean... Remind me, I didn't tell them about the stuff with Tannen and Auric. That was
00:20:52
Speaker
That was a flashback. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know why I would have told him, but he knew it. So that's something like Vegas and over sharer.
00:21:01
Speaker
I mean we've also worked together for a decade so I can't imagine that's true if he's Anything like me up to know months ago Vegas partner is an overshare honestly half that stuff was just his partner rambling over drinks one night, but I guess you just share those things with his partner. Well. They're very close. I mean they work together every day, but
00:21:24
Speaker
Who is this? Who is his partner? Nobody that you've come across. It's really going to be interesting. It was something very sweet tiefling, but you don't know him. He would hate that guy. Absolutely hate that guy. But I know for sure. I hate mice. I don't. I mean,
00:21:53
Speaker
I'm obviously being a fellow team member close with my version of Aeris, but if I don't need to share anything, then I won't. But if I need to, then I will. I think Hob's going to say in a second, if you want to try to believe this and you don't want potential secrets getting out, the three of us can find somewhere else to be for a moment if you want to test this. He's paying.
00:22:20
Speaker
All right. Okay. Um, to be clear, Hobb's not like on board with it now, but that was certainly something. I mean, that was certainly something. So Harris goes over to the list of us and crosses out unknown next to her name and writes frack off. That's not available. She'll get a kick out of that. Um,
00:22:48
Speaker
So I was trying just now to not let him make me angry by not having him do his little dog and pony show. And he says things like that. The best way, certainly, for him to not do his dog and pony show is to walk over to his notes and antagonize him through them. That was a smart move to de-escalate Eris. Also, yeah, he's a jerk. But you're down. No.
00:23:13
Speaker
Okay, so you'd think he would know better than the other. She'll get a kick of that out loud. Right, you would think. Although knowing who raised him, probably not. We do have to remember that. We created the characters that created this character. Don't blame Barrick for this.
00:23:35
Speaker
If you all want my assistance on your Jason killing, more than happy to assist, that was up in the air last I recall. Or if you all just want to get my deed over and done with and get me out of here, I am also amenable to that. Well, when you're gone, Satan Boromar is still here. Yeah. So I think
00:24:01
Speaker
We'd like to take a stab at the Jason thing first. Is that the right team? I mean, I'm, I'm fine with it. I mean, I just hate to involve Cassian, correct? Yeah. Cassian in my affair, I guess. But I mean, Hey, if this is the guy that killed Kylie, I'd love to. If you're willing to come, then fine, but wait, really?
00:24:31
Speaker
What? Promise I'm capable. We're inviting him.
00:24:39
Speaker
I'm not totally opposed. I mean, like I said, you don't need to be involved in my affairs. I mean, I don't really know you and, but I mean, if Harb is willing, then- No, Milo, it comes down to if you want him to come. I don't, I mean, I trust he's not against us. Real quick, where's everyone's wound thresholds at? Just- I think I have three to give. Three to give? Yeah, I don't think I have any wounds.
00:25:07
Speaker
I'm at five. Five to give? No, I'm total. I have five wounds. I have four wounds. Okay, so, Hob. Zero wounds. Good for you. Okay. What's happening? Hob, you feel a warmness wash over you? What's happening?
00:25:25
Speaker
Um, somebody starts casting magic in here. Eris knows what's happening. What's happening? Um, big B has been floating above and you see like a warm, uh, just a warm, it's not a ray, like it's not like a, but like, um, am I getting, am I getting soft lighting? Yeah, essentially. Um, and you get healed for two wounds, two strain. Um, sorry, big B no.
00:25:54
Speaker
Well, Bigby asked first, maybe. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's... I mean, I feel it. I know that I am feeling better. Sorry, he's just... He works with the teams and so he's just trained to do it when needed.
00:26:09
Speaker
Understood. I noticed he wasn't nearly as excited to see me as he was Eris, but that's, I don't know this. I won't, I won't, I won't take offense because I do not know this robot. Yeah. Um, no, I mean, it's just a casing for an elemental. And, um, I think have something similar here. Are you, are you referring to?
00:26:34
Speaker
I mean, okay. We have something similar. I've never seen one of these guys. Okay, okay. I wasn't going to. That was Eris. Philip looked at me as though he was like, you better stop talking. It's like, I wasn't going to say it. No, he was saying find out right now. Find out. Oh, you mean our bird, Tasha. No, the question would be referring to something like that or... Yeah, no.
00:27:04
Speaker
But, um, I mean, I can give you all a few minutes. I mean, I can, cause Tasha sir has never healed me. So we don't have anything like that. Um, I can step out and let you all talk without, obviously it would be awkward with me here if you're going to discuss my involvement, but I'm not kicking you out here. I'm offering it a week ago. Okay. Right. How about this?
00:27:30
Speaker
We're going to take off and have that discussion. Where is his place? Would it be convenient? It was close. Yeah, it's a couple blocks away from for sale. Would it be convenient to say one of us will run over afterwards and talk with him? And, Hob, now that you've gotten a look at this harness of finding in the circle, you notice that on one of his forearms there is a very similar implement.
00:28:02
Speaker
So when you look at that thing and you say, I don't know, Eris, well I guess it only shows up within five miles of you currently, so he's the one. And I mean, that's how I tracked you all down. Even though he's here. Oh wait, so, wait, so his Eris shows up as our Eris on his harness of finding. And he thinks Eris and it leads him to Eris, leads him to Milo, leads him to Hob, well, Vega. I don't know why Philip hates this so much.
00:28:33
Speaker
I have to sue with logic and reason reasons and I'm just not going to invest in those personally. I don't know. Harris hates this. Right. So yeah, I mean, and additionally, like if you all have any further, I don't know where the temperature is on whether or not you all believe me, but if you have any further questions about
00:28:54
Speaker
what I do or the work or anything like that, more than happy to answer. But if you all want to leave, you're more than happy to leave. I suppose if we have questions about what you do for work, we'll have time. Yeah, I mean, there's just the, yeah, yeah, that's fine. You know, hanging out while you recharge your shard. Hopefully it'll just be hanging out. Well, they won't be a constant barrage either. Right, so we're going to head back to the for sales.
00:29:24
Speaker
or not, and have this conversation or not. And I'll let you know later. Sure thing. I mean, if I haven't heard from you all in a few days, I might check in. But we're not going to leave you hanging in a few days. Appreciate that. Like I said, willing to help. Right. By the way, I don't think Hob put this harness on, by the way. He's holding it. Yeah.
00:29:53
Speaker
So, um, well, thanks for considering it. Um, well, considering bring me along. I've paid you for the other job. So just, yeah, there's the thing. There's like unspoken, you don't, we all knew that. Okay. I just misspoke initially. So I was correcting myself. I wasn't. All right. Well, yeah. Talk to you all soon.
00:30:19
Speaker
And we get off the door and I go, oof, guys, he's this way. Let's go. So I suppose we, I mean, I think that the right course of action is to go have a conversation about, yes, that seems we're obviously take, we've obviously taken the job because we've taken the stuff. We really have to do it. You don't have to, but I don't want to bring down the wrath of the lighthouse consortium. Say what, what money did he give us? 30 gold pieces.
00:30:50
Speaker
He gave it up front? Yeah. Okay. That's right. He was willing to play ball. He did, so that, yes. I always forget I have a lantern. It's in my inventory. You live in a metropolitan city. But I'm getting ready to go into Kyber. That's very fair. Cost 50. That can't be gold. No, silver. Okay. That's still a five gold lantern.
00:31:13
Speaker
Alright, anyway, we go to the floor sales. Right, and we're gonna add... I mean... Part way along, I was like, oh, what have I got this lantern for? Very fancy lantern. Hey guys, can we swing by my place? I gotta get my lantern.
00:31:28
Speaker
As you all walk in, Ace is being bandaged up by Sonny. He's like, did you get him? Did you get him? You got him? Wait, get who? The guys that got me. Oh yeah, man. Okay, great. Cool. Yeah. Actually, there might still be three of them laying on the ground inside the tavern.
00:31:44
Speaker
they're gone okay of their own did they of their own uh of their own pretty well no they're super dead we definitely killed at least some of them yeah anyway yes we got them um nice hey and buddy uh
00:32:00
Speaker
I'm sorry that happened and it looked like you held your own there for a while. He says like I tried, you know tried I think I got one of them really good and son is behind him like wrapping up his shoulder and she's just shaking her head. Yeah, absolutely not So how are you? Pain lots of pain. I think some stuff's broken but You know, I'll be able to bounce back be able to get back to work. So it'll be good. Yeah
00:32:28
Speaker
He asked sauna. I'm fine. I did say sauna, but I think it sounded like so. I was like, he hates sauna right now. I'm fine. Thanks. And thanks for stepping in when you did. I thought you would dare. Eris is over in her usual booth trying to decipher what the goggles do. Okay.
00:32:53
Speaker
He goes, you know, you know, she would he would have told you. Right. And would have wanted to then go on about my personal business. I understand your.
00:33:14
Speaker
reticence to learn more about this guy and If there is if it's all true the other you or me or whatever I get that I'm trying to figure out how to say this When There's something that is a net benefit like this
00:33:41
Speaker
Take advantage of all the things that can help us. No one's doing better right now because you don't know how to use those goggles, Aeris. I'll know how to use them in a few minutes. All right. All right. The goggles are a metaphor, Aeris. I took his money. I'm going to do the job. Took the goggles. If they're useful, I'll use them. Yeah, right.
00:34:09
Speaker
As you examine the goggles, you see that the interior padding up against your face have arcane runes, and it looks vaguely like Dragon Mark S scripting around it. And when they get close to your face, they begin to glow. They're activating as they get on your face. Well, they're for seasonal affective disorder.
00:34:35
Speaker
Um, when you just hold them up and try to look through them like this, you can see through the, it's almost like, um, like snowboarding goggles, like everything is very tinted. Um, but as you bring them closer, it begins to open up and additionally, what goes, I said, okay.
00:34:54
Speaker
and if you like hold them up and like look at hob you see like a an arcane like circle appears above like around hob's head and veganoth like kind of appears and you become like a vaguely aware like
00:35:11
Speaker
basically hugely for perception checks. Like it highlights various things in your environment, makes it easy to spot things. And additionally, um, like you get a general sense of, uh, like all of the benefits to your combat checks and everything. It's a heads up display. Right. Um, so, um, congratulations. Um, so that's, that's what you, how the goggles work essentially. Um,
00:35:40
Speaker
And then you see additional like functionality kind of pop up with like the memory wipe and all that kind of the depletion effects that you can. Oh, I'm trying to get a read on that. Oh, these are like wipe your memory. Well, if I want them to.
00:36:01
Speaker
You don't like that. It's gross. Is that all they do? No, a few other cool things. All right, well, good. She says big, right? Like your entire memory, like everything? No, like I can look at people and know things about them because that means that I don't have to talk to people as much. So that's pretty useful. Well, no question. How in depth are the things you can know about them? Because look, I've never talked to you about it. The story was true. Right now it just says who you are.
00:36:28
Speaker
All right, so it doesn't have like my deep secrets about my time at a monastery. I've had that, I smash them into little pieces. All right, great. Well, you know, I'm just saying, because he said the things and I've never said the things. Yeah, yeah. I know. And now she does know you're a Virgo. Yes, I am a Virgo. I was born in 8th September. I have no idea. Maybe.
00:36:57
Speaker
Open sweeping up broken glass. All right, about that open. I'm good for it, buddy, I promise. Actually, you know what? I was just handed 30 gold. Oh no, I already gave him five gold for it. You did, yeah. If you don't want to fix the window, that'll get you a great lantern. All right, stop it. Stupid.
00:37:21
Speaker
Very good, but also factually accurate. It's true. All right. You do. Come here. All right. I think this is Milo's call, but we are a team. So Milo, what do you think? My initial thought was I don't
00:37:50
Speaker
want to involve somebody that we don't even know and what is my problem. I wouldn't even fault you all if you all didn't want to assist, but I certainly appreciate you as
00:38:09
Speaker
as my friends and willing to help, but then part of me's like, if this Cassian fellow wants to come along to further prove himself, then, well, fine, I guess, but I'd hate to feel responsible if he were to die. What is the point of him proving himself? He is a customer. We're not recruiting a friend.
00:38:39
Speaker
We've obviously been hired by worse people than him. Very true. So it doesn't really matter if he does come or he doesn't? That's kind of how I feel about it. Yeah. Like this is not a major decision for me, which is why I'm willing to make it. I get the feeling that the heiress is probably not comfortable with him coming. I think it's a bad idea to involve strangers in a mission. And I,
00:39:08
Speaker
Didn't go well last time. You know, I want Eris to be comfortable because I care more about Eris than I'd certainly do this Cassian fellow. Well, there it is. Rude. So, um, right. I'll let him know that we're going to take care of this and then we'll reach out to him. Um, right. All right. There we go. That's, that's settled. Anybody want to be on board?
00:39:34
Speaker
I was finding the way. Rainard doesn't see why we have a problem with you. That's important. Or Cassian. I don't have a problem with Cassian. That second part is much more reasonable, though. I mean, I don't have a problem with Cassian. I genuinely didn't care if he came with us one way or another. Rainard's like, we're going on a trip. Let's bring friends. Come on. Let's bring friends. Let's just go help Cassian on his way and get that done, and then we'll go take care of Jason. So do the casting job first?
00:40:05
Speaker
Is that what you want to do, the cats can jump first? Do we have any idea how long we're going to be down there? How long is the charging thing and how far away? Oh, the charging thing. I mean, based once again, based on his description of it is like he needs you to hold off anything incoming while he charges. So obviously not a super long time. Right. Just if there are horrible creatures down there, hold them off for X number of rounds while this gets charged up and then get out. Right. So.
00:40:32
Speaker
but he didn't give us any indication. We would have asked, I have to assume, like, is it a day's walk? Yeah, it would take a day max two if you all went really, really slow. So it wouldn't go a long way into Kyber. It's a long way into Kyber. I would say let's take care of Jason before we can't take care of Jason. I understand we've been kind of cavalier about the Jason thing, but I mean, once we find him, it's...
00:41:01
Speaker
You've got an easy way of finding him now. And I know... Wait, hang on. He's that way. I thought at that time. I'm just testing out the capabilities on this bad boy. If you turn it this way, he's up. Oh, hang on. He's in the cogs. Wait, no. I'd put it on backwards. Oh, imagine if you looked at it, it was just... He was a short ranger way. I'd just punch one of the people, like, oh, you!
00:41:29
Speaker
Yeah, so I do. I say Jason, and he is some direction. He's within five miles right now. Boom. So we fight him, and we fight him, and we win, and we lick our wounds and come back. Or we lose, and we cast him and go on his own, I guess. It would be good to catch Jason alone. For some reason, I don't feel like it's going to be the simplest thing we've ever done. Here's a question. If we fight him, and he's with Vigo,
00:42:01
Speaker
It would be a real shame. It would of course be an accident. I think at this point, we have to assume if he's still with Viggo and Viggo knows what he is, then Viggo is also a bad actor in this and we'd be doing the Boromar's a favor by taking him out as well. Not a good idea. But you know, things happen in fights.
00:42:22
Speaker
Terrible tragic accidents happen. I will all things explode. I think it was a real tragedy when Jason kills Vico later. Yeah. Yeah. You all valiantly stepped in and avenged Vico's death. Well, you know, no one anything that we walked in as it was happening. We're like, oh, no. Hey, I don't know where the voice went. And now I know all these other people apparently have Fletcher's and I guess Jason was one of them and it's just a real bummer. It's real sad.
00:42:52
Speaker
Look, we're just, we're making light of a bad situation. You know, we could do that first. And I have these arrows, I don't know what they do. Yeah. That's not my fault. No one told me.
00:43:10
Speaker
Part of me wants to know how much Trevor remembers himself. Yeah, I know. Trevor, do you even carry the hand crossbow that Eris made for you anymore? Yeah, but I'm saying I've got these arrows that I don't know what they do, so if one shot shot and he died in the experience, it was an accident, oopsie. Sure, sure. There's lots of things we can blame this on.
00:43:35
Speaker
Are we going now? Are we going to find Jason? I need to heal. I'm still pretty badly hurt. And it would be better if we could, you know, take some time and... Milo and I could take him. Prepare. If we're going into Kyber. I got roided up. Yeah, right. Oh, no, the Kyber thing for sure. Like, that's also kind of the reason I think we should get Jason taken care of so we can focus on. How? Anything we gather that will make Kyber easier will also make Jason easier.
00:44:06
Speaker
sure sure you know hop I wish I'd asked that you know where he is and you can find him what was her name who my contact that used to work with the oh god what was her name oh god he just told you
00:44:29
Speaker
Used to work with the Koshtharani. Remember she told me about the warehouses and stuff, their safe houses and stuff. Because I could ask her what sort of retaliatory we're looking at if we just take Jason's net real quick. The name of my head I know is wrong because I've used it in my campaign.
00:44:52
Speaker
What's the name in your head? Adara. I know it's not right. Well, I don't know at the top of my head. So we'll just say your contact. OK. Could I reach out to my contact? You do make note that I did finally track down the name of Reynard's family.
00:45:08
Speaker
Can I reach out to my contact and ask like if and how quickly like if? If Jason's got like a dead man switch on him that if he dies the house through on he knows about it quickly or something You know that sort of stuff mm-hmm
00:45:24
Speaker
I mean yeah you can track her down. I mean just go back to Savi as that's where she's based out of now. She tells you I mean like I said they they generally speaking operate in teams so if you take out one then their team members are going to be almost
00:45:43
Speaker
instantly aware, uh, that something has happened, uh, either by direct witness or lack of contact throughout the day. So you might get an hour headstart. If, if you time it just right before the rest of the team knows, and then inevitably the rest of house, the Ronnie knows that they at least gone missing. Um, but they take this kind of stuff.
00:46:11
Speaker
Very seriously, their agents, if they're captured, have a lot of information that they could divulge. We can make it very clear he's not captured. Well, then be a different kind of retribution, but the houses don't take lightly to their agents being killed. We don't take lightly to our friends being killed either, so that's going to happen.
00:46:37
Speaker
Alright, that's all I wanted to know. I wanted to know if we had to be immediately on the run or if we could plan and prep for Kyber. And she kind of stops you before you go, I appreciate what you're saying that you don't take kindly to your friends being killed. I can almost assure you that House of the Ronnie has resources far beyond the scope of you and your friends in terms of gaining retribution if they want it.
00:47:04
Speaker
Yeah, dog, I was employing bravado for effect. He says verbatim. Yeah. Hob's cool. You are Randy Jackson cool. I mean, I would take it. So at some point, Hob found time to go do that and then reports it back to his friends.
00:47:29
Speaker
Oh, we can flip a story point and say, I thought about asking it beforehand. It's like a five minute walk away. And I have a motorcycle, so yeah, it's even shorter. Anybody else doing anything specific while Hob goes off to do that? Could we say Milo went with Hob and on the way back we stopped by Milos?
00:47:53
Speaker
Got a sidecar. Yeah, absolutely. A little leather helmet. I can wear a little leather helmet. You can wear to stopping by Milo's house. I wrapped my new harness around your head. That's your little leather helmet. Okay. What are we doing? What are we doing at Milo's house? Um, well, let's, let's go in, you know, that, that ice staff thing. I'm, I, I think I'm just going to give it to you. You can utilize it maybe.
00:48:22
Speaker
Hey, um, are you, I mean, okay. Like, yes, I get that you can't really wield it. So, so, so thank you. Um, I mean, it has some, you know, some utility spells and stuff. I'm sure that I could get out of it, but I mean, sure. Is that something you could use? Like, I mean, you know, it's ice. It does do some, like, say there's some spells involved with it. Are you able to utilize that?
00:48:48
Speaker
As a question for my DM, I think I can wield divine magic once per encounter right now. If I get this staff, does that change things or can I use it at all? I mean, you can certainly use it as a staff as a melee weapon. Yes. I got to know what's killing Philip right now.
00:49:09
Speaker
I spent the last session designing armor for you and you got armor and I spent the time prior to this session designing a weapon for you. See, I won Aerys's weapon. It's probably a lot more cool than this eyestaff. I want Aerys's weapon so I'm gonna... As soon as I said it and I saw the look on Philip's face I kind of had a feeling that, oh crap, in my head I was like, crap, he's designing a weapon.
00:49:35
Speaker
I think, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna say, you know, this is great. And Milo, there's no way you could have known this heiress and I have been talking. And she's actually fashioning something for me. That's gonna be a little bit more, you know, tailored to what we do. Yeah, you know, and if I would have thought that just makes a whole lot of sense, you know. But perhaps I could just give it to Raynard. Yeah, let Raynard hit somebody with it. Or, you know, let's sell it and get some GPs. Who knows what we're gonna do.
00:50:06
Speaker
Well, I love how you go grab it. Mold pieces. Your mom's out of home.
00:50:12
Speaker
He brings it out. How dope does it look? I've forgotten. No, I mean, it's a pretty like sterile looking item. It's a metal rod, perfectly cylindrical. There is some arcane markings on it, but it looks very clean. Like it doesn't look super cool, but it looks cool in that like, I don't know, that new piece of technology that just has really clean lines and looks really nice. Like that's the kind of cool.
00:50:37
Speaker
It's like when the Apple mouse looks so rad until people try to use it. The eye rod. And Raynard uses magic, so Raynard can use it, yay! Alright, so let's go ahead and take it back and see if Raynard wants it. And if not...
00:50:59
Speaker
And if not, then you know. I stick, yeah. And just go and be prepared for Raynard not wanting it. I mean, Raynard will take it and then forget about it. That's the biggest thing. He'll forget about the wonderful gift you gave him. But moreover, be prepared for Raynard to say he wants it and you will never see it employed. I feel like I need a little bag that, you know, Hermione has that bag that she just puts stuff in. I don't know what's in there. I just put stuff in there. No, honestly, Milo, we might be best served by sea and affairs constrict this thing for parts.
00:51:27
Speaker
And if not, make a little cash off of it to put towards the reopening effort. Either way is fine. I mean, I haven't really played with it much to find out everything all that it could do, so maybe Eris could figure that out too. Oh, Eris could certainly figure that out, given time and desire to do so.
00:51:52
Speaker
But you know, I appreciate you offering it to me. I appreciate you thinking of me. This would have been wonderful had I not just had that conversation with Aeris. Well, let's head on back and see if Raynard wants it or if not, he'll give it to Aeris to play with.
00:52:08
Speaker
Raynard, what are you up to while they're off doing this? Anything? Well considering how much of an experience I spent, probably putting on training. Really fast training montage. Raynard is somehow having a montage in real life.
00:52:23
Speaker
Maybe just reading. Reading up on verse magic and being like, oh, I get it now. I can do these things. I have been able to do these things the whole time, huh? OK. Amazing. Oh, it's Leviosa. And then he's ready to go.
00:52:40
Speaker
Oh, and this is how you bribe people properly, and this is just all the new talents that you got. Oh, that's hilarious. Oh, yeah, for the lister, because we didn't mention it before this session. We spent like 300 experience before this. It's a book that says, oh, so you've been playing this game for three years and haven't learned anything.
00:52:58
Speaker
Aris, what are you up to in the hour and a half that all this is taken? She's either fiddling with the goggles or she's fiddling with the lechers that she gathered off of the would-be desk. Goons.
00:53:13
Speaker
I mean the Fletcher's seem increasingly rudimentary the more you like like this is what you would have made as a like your first couple weeks learning artifice. Like I want to make a projectile launcher. How would I do it? And this is so somebody's first attempt. Oh baby's first fire on. So as we walk in we see Eris just scoffing at these Fletcher's.
00:53:42
Speaker
Yeah. Probably just an assemblage of parts on the table at this point. Not even worth the parts they were made from. Okay, so you all gather back in the for sales.
00:54:02
Speaker
Why not? Uh, Miley, you recognize as you walk in, Ulfin is talking to, um, uh, Joe, the contractor that's working on keg bottoms, and Ulfin's pointing at the, the pain windows and like, just getting a quote on getting the windows replaced. Ulfin, you went with Joe? I mean, it's just a window. You could have saved a lot of money. Jurg. Joe's good rates, good people. You want the best, you get the best. Yeah, I can't argue with Jurg. Also, don't tell me how to capture my shit.
00:54:33
Speaker
This is the restaurant that we keep open for you. This is not your ship, my guy. Hey, hey. We operated in the black this week. Thus far. It's Tuesday, let's say it. Todd goes and gets a cabbage and nobody goes, well, there goes that. And yeah, so I say, well, I wouldn't talk to my contact
00:55:00
Speaker
And basically she told me that once we take out Jason, we have started a clock for when Thirani will realize it and find out who we are and come for us. Oh. No, I haven't followed that at all. It's wild that I hadn't considered that earlier, yeah. That seems bad. Well, you know...
00:55:25
Speaker
There's like the disconnect of like, but okay, but like you sent him to kill one of our people and we found out first, so we took care of it. And like, at that point you go, well, cancel it out, right? You were gonna kill one of ours and we beat you to it. And you know what, you got best at this time. Better luck next time, except for I really don't wish you better luck next time. Yeah, but it's one of the houses. Yeah, I know. And the rules don't make sense and their honor is dishonorable. I understand. Right, yeah. I assume Satan was aware of that as well.
00:55:55
Speaker
Yeah, probably. Probably why it's convenient if we take care of it. I mean, we do work for them and they know that. So it's still a Boromar thing. Yes. And Boromar is a house. What? No. Yes. No, they aren't. Boromar's a bunch of guys. It's a gang. It's its own house gang. It's not. Is she a brick house?
00:56:23
Speaker
This house is not a home. That being said, I still think we should take out Jason and then go with Cassian. What do we need? I need a night to sleep, for sure. Outside of that, what do we need to be prepared to go to Kyber?
00:56:48
Speaker
so that we can be ready when we start our Jason party. The lantern. Ting, ting, ting. I'm going to go get some painkillers, I believe, just in case. Right. I think you should be better at hitting things.
00:57:08
Speaker
You think I should be better at hitting things? You should hit things hard. I think things should be more hurt when you hit them. That's more what I mean. I wasn't aware this became a performance review. But if we're airing grievances, Raynard, let's talk about your healing.
00:57:24
Speaker
Eris, what do you mean? Oh, are we going to help improve Reynard now? Well, you've already signed paperwork. Eris gave me to promise, to heal more often and more successfully. Eris has become the group's HR department. Eris launches into this extensive criticism of Reynard, and that's why his experience has been spent. He is ashamed to improve. Eris, what are you getting at? Oh.
00:57:54
Speaker
I think I can make your hands hit things harder. That was great. I just need a couple days and maybe some more money. Um, I mean I've got about 80 gold. Oh, all right. I mean, I think we're good. Reynard, would you like to have this rather sleek looking staff? It's tall and skinny. Do you want it?
00:58:17
Speaker
does it do well you can hit ice with it yes does ice type things you just have to I guess with it figure out that Eris have a look at it maybe she could I don't think I'm the one who should fiddle with it Eris why don't you take a look at it and see if it's something I could use
00:58:36
Speaker
So I know you told us what that does, but I'm not the one who was receiving it, so I didn't write it down. We didn't get into, like, firm statistics. It was vague, like, because I didn't know how it was going to be used in the group as, like, a magic implementer, a melee weapon, or what. Once you said it could freeze a sweaty guy, I stopped remembering anything else about it. So when used as a melee weapon, it would be a melee white, melee white, melee light weapon.
00:59:05
Speaker
Really? Why do you sing all those soulful songs in the 70s? Ice, ice, baby. No. Can I do some sort of magic check on it to see what it does that way? Just the arcana check or? Knowledge lore would probably be what you would use to like understand the runes and sigils on it. My lore is decent.
00:59:37
Speaker
It would be average difficulty to purple. Okay. So, uh, base damage as a melee light weapon would be, um, plus four to your brawn. So it would be brawn plus four plus whatever successes you roll on it. Um, it has the ensnare quality, so you can spend two advantage to immobilize the target, you know, freezing them in place as it were.
01:00:04
Speaker
Quit rating four is a blunt instrument. I was looking at it and he definitely knows what it about the magic on it. Five successes and a triumph. Jesus. Wow. Yeah.
01:00:22
Speaker
You can spend two advantage on a successful hit to cause all terrain within short range of the target to become difficult terrain. Freezing the ground around you. You can deplete it, just overcharge it to stagger a target until the end of the encounter. So make it unable to do any actions.
01:00:51
Speaker
unless that effect stops if it's hit with a combat check. You shatter the ice that you encase them in. So Milo, you learn kind of the arcane runes do that. You gain an understanding that this is
01:01:12
Speaker
The reason it's so potent is it is linked to Rizia like all the arcane like this like links to the plane of ice.
01:01:27
Speaker
It seems like work wasn't finished, like some of the runes and stuff. This was a work in progress that somebody was actively building up. And so potentially this, this rod slash staff could have gained more and more access to the plane of ice to potentially like
01:01:42
Speaker
all the way up to being able to summon like an ice elemental at some point, like as an arcane implement. So yeah, this thing has more potential than what it has currently. It's what you understand. Somebody like Aeris could maybe. Yes, and Milo explains all that. Reynard would like it. Okay. Let's take this one.
01:02:08
Speaker
I mean, Eris certainly won't use it. So Eris would be happy to fiddle with it if it needs to be fiddled with it. But if you're going to use it, use it. Fiddle DD. It requires a fiddling. Eris does not melee light. Yeah. So are you going to take a reener or are you going to let Eris fiddle? Yeah, I'm going to take a fiddle. Fiddle? OK. OK, so Eris has the eye rod. You can take it until Eris has time to fiddle with it. Why don't you fiddle a little? OK. How much of my money do you need?
01:02:39
Speaker
For my money, it's my item. Not for you, for me, my thing. My thing that didn't get resolved. Well, you jumped in. The thing I want to create will cost 95 gold pieces. They have 80. I have 80 also. 95 gold pieces.
01:02:59
Speaker
Well, yeah. I have 15. More than 15. You just got paid 30. Okay. Are you offering to give me 15 of your gold pieces? Yes. There's 95 gold. Cool. But I get the stick. Yeah, dude, that was never on the table. That was just accepted. And then Milo says, Oh, for the stick? Stop. I need to be 20 for the stick, Brainard.
01:03:23
Speaker
Reynard's negotiation checks have automatic upgrades on the difficulty with how good that went. We've got negative ranks. Deal. Reynard just gave me three goals. I'll need a couple of days to make the reagents, and then we have to do it. Reagents? Yeah, I'll have to make the ink. Oh, I'm getting more tattoos! Yeah. Yeah, right. Okay.
01:03:49
Speaker
We don't have a few students do we? Do I get a say in like location and image, even on some? Well, it's kind of got to be on your like hands and wrists sort of area for what it's gonna. It says pay me. For what it's gonna do. Of hate. I mean, I had some ideas on the visual, but yeah, I mean, it's you. It's you, like no, it's not like a thing, it's you. Okay. So you should obviously. I'm on board now, yeah, okay.
01:04:19
Speaker
Raynard did have a question about the timeline. Are we taking a few days or are we going tomorrow? I mean, we're taking the time that Eris needs to fashion this because once we're done with Jason, we kind of are running into Kyber. I just thought it was time sensitive. I don't think anything's 48 hours time sensitive. You could investigate stuff while I do this. Like there are other things that can go wrong. You could figure out how we're going to kill Jason.

Preferably with a blunt instrument to his head. You know what would be great? If you could find out.

You know, maybe you could ask someone about other Tharani activity in this area, if there's been any lately. Because if we've learned they work in teams, then Jason is not the only member down here. And you have family that know these things. Oh. In fact, they would hate me. Here's what I think should happen. Just had this thought. And it's really good, I think.
01:05:26

What if, what, what if Milo and Reynard, what if you went and talked to Satan and suggest that to kind of make up for the mess he's made. Don't word it like that. Not the mess. Satan's made. I haven't gotten to the subject of the sentence. Okay. We go.
01:05:54

needs to invite Jason to a place where it will be convenient for us to kill him. That is operating under an assumption that Viggo hasn't already been told not to associate and made clear that he won't be with Jason.
01:06:11
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. But we certainly worth asking. Right. Milo and I could go handle Jason on our own. Quit saying things like that. It's ridiculous to make you sound stupid. Because if Jason... Well now you're evening it a bit. Because Vigo's an idiot and so he probably didn't figure this out about Jason. Sure. And so if Jason's operating on the assumption that Vigo doesn't know, then he won't come with backup.
01:06:39
Speaker
right and i'm i'm see i'm thinking i'm feeling very triumphant still and possibly oh yeah you do so i'm feeling that way what if what if you get into come to the old site of keg bottoms oh how poetic
01:06:54
Speaker
You could bury him in the foundation as they pour the cotton. No, that's a bad idea. That was structurally weak in this. And I've seen true blood, it didn't work. But narratively. Strengthens it. If Vigo invites... You want to mix his blood into the cement, that's what you want to do. If grind him up. If Vigo invites Jason to a place where he is killed.
01:07:16
Speaker
I feel like I talked over something funny with the story, my bad. You were doing the right thing. Go ahead. Then we could probably get some of the stink off of us and directly onto the Boromars as well. Yeah. That's why I like adding Vigo to the mix. So there we go. So we do that, right? I'll work on this. You'll work on that. I guess I'll just head off home and take a nap because I'm about to die.
01:07:45
Speaker
What did you want to sprinkle this triumphant feeling upon? Oh, that's right, yes. Well, just pretty much what Eris was suggesting. That triumph is that story point, to say Viggo has not been told about Jason yet. Or a combination thereof. Yeah, yeah, we can do both. We've got all these story points, you see.
01:08:10
Speaker
No, I would, I would allow the trying to be spent on Vigo has not been told that about Jason. Yeah. Okay. My thought is to get Jason alone. His crew doesn't know where he's at. You know, like he's all by himself.
01:08:30
Speaker
We probably have to succeed on some roles to achieve all of that, though. Right, which makes me think maybe I should also go with Viggo and stand around. Viggo's the story. Two days with Milo, two Satan, about Viggo. That's what I meant, obviously. Maybe Viggo's the story point and the triumph is for the friends.
01:08:49
Speaker
How's this going to work, Mr. Game Master? Presumably, we have to make some rules to try and set this up. Yeah, yeah. So the triumph is Vigo has not been told by Satan. And why do we not? Why do we want that? We don't want Vigo to have warned Jason. Because if Vigo knows that Jason's a bad guy and was forced to break off ties, then Vigo can't invite Jason somewhere. Yeah, we don't want Vigo to have tipped off Jason either deliberately or accidentally that his cover is blown.
01:09:21
Speaker
And we'll let Viggo or we'll let Satan decide if he tells Viggo about it when he says get Jason here Yeah, cuz it's really possible that if we start to attack Jason Viggo will start to attack us and then we'll have to kill him So we're gonna let Satan figure that out on his own if he does or doesn't okay
01:09:41
Speaker
We won't kill him, unfortunately. I won't. Sounds like three of you are heading to talk to Satan about setting up a meet with Jason. Aeris is going to go work on reagents for tattoos. I do have to swing by Cassian since it's on the way. I mean, it's a couple of walks away and I just let him know. Okay.
