Speaker: Once we're in the covered wagon, I want to pull the note out. Okay. And you read it? Mm-hmm. It simply says, actions have consequences.
Speaker: Destabilizing Foundations, Episode 25.
Speaker: The world of Aeong contains stories with mature themes. Content warnings are in the episode description.
Speaker: Welcome back, folks, to the world of Aeon Stories of Legend Act 1 finale. We just finished recording 24. What did you guys think? Piara's still a bitch.
Speaker: Not me, I'm sorry. sorry I like that Piara lady. She seems real chill. I'd hang out with Super chill. Yelling, like, sass queen yelling. It's my favorite thing ever.
Speaker: <unk> Can we to actually can we take a moment to talk about how much Yellen has come into himself as far as being open with the party? Because like when Yellen woke up, when Maeve went in there, that was the funniest thing.
Speaker: yeah and freaking out about Calvin being dead. Had me rolling. Oh, my God. That was so fucking funny. Poor Yellen. He was freaking out, man.
Speaker: He was, was. Dreaming about head. Whoa. From Calden. Whoa. From Calden. I didn't know we were that kind of podcast, but right. The word mixed genre here. Whoa. All right. We got to save the rest of that talk for another episode. That's for sure.
Speaker: We are so excited to continue this right into our act one finale. And it's been about a year since we started this whole thing. And so that's pretty exciting, guys. That is exciting stuff.
Speaker: We did not time that out on purpose for the record. we Yeah, we had our first recording May 4th last year or so. And it released in like July. July? July.
Speaker: july July. July. First week of July. Crazy. Crazy we made it this far, y'all. Most podcasts don't. So I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty proud of ourselves. Hell yeah. It's been wild ride. And audience, I hope you guys have been enjoying the show so far because it's just the first year of what is hoped to be many. So speaking of which, let's get into the finale so we can get into act two because it's going just get better and better.
Speaker: Let's do this.
Speaker: In the last episode, we started off pretty lighthearted as Calden played a little bit of a prank right after everyone fell asleep and everyone woke up to some fun makeup on their face. Markings, as you might say. Some of them liked them. Some of them got a good laugh, you know?
Speaker: It was a good time. It was a good start to our episode as the episode continued. Well, slowly, things maybe got a little more serious. Our group recounted some of the events from the night before, at least from what they could remember. Maeve had a much-needed conversation with both Lionel and Fenlon.
Speaker: And after some conversations regarding the upcoming meeting, and Sally getting food in their bellies and ready, the big meeting with Piara and Galette finally happened. The negotiation of the contract, the job to take, the finding out what or who is really behind the destabilizing foundations and the missing children that started our show.
Speaker: During that meeting, too good of an opportunity to pass, Galette brought in a surprise. for Mr. Yellen Yekhal as he was introduced to his brother for the first time, at least seemingly so. Although Yellen, saying his parents supposedly died years and years ago, still a question in the air. Galette seemed to not have been lying whatsoever, and the appearance of the child just so similar to Yellen, it was unmistakable. Left a lot of questions in the air and a lot of frustration for our group.
Speaker: After the contract was signed and changes made, Galette and Piara left the room, leaving our group to decide what steps do they take next? Do they go towards this rift a couple towns over or do they take the time to go to one of the official portals, costing them a lot of time and a lot of money and also still process everything that just happened at the meeting?
Speaker: Having made time to discuss these matters, make decisions, and tie up loose ends, we join our group now on the stormy streets of glory. Ah yes, the age-old cause and effect.
Speaker: oh no but
Speaker: What is that, Calden? Um, I don't think it's anything. and Just an old note I had in my pocket, I guess. Oh, is it that the note that I... Did you leave me note?
Speaker: Yes. Oh. What? I don't have any other notes in my pockets. Maybe it's just in your other pants. Oh, okay.
Speaker: In the ones you gave back, or... Yeah. You're slipping notes into all of my pockets. If you want notes in all of your pockets, I can do that. I don't think it's necessary.
Speaker: i guess if you want to do that, that's fine. Not particularly. I mean, we can just talk. No... I don't like talking.
Speaker: Well, this is awkward. This is awkward.
Speaker: So, Yellen. Yes. How what are you doing? I am a little bit lost in um thought, I suppose.
Speaker: and That's perfectly understandable, yeah. I'm sorry I don't exactly know how to help with this. It's just, it's all right, it's a weird thing, and there's a lot of things that I've done that I would have changed if I had known.
Speaker: But the thing is, you didn't know. I didn't, and it... You cannot beat yourself up for something you did not know. I suppose, but I've made a lot of mistakes because of this.
Speaker: I take it you thought your parents died? I did, and
Speaker: And I, a long time ago, i am did something I'm not proud of. if I stole a spell scroll and I tried to bring my mother back.
Speaker: And the? And I, Maeve, I'm sure you recall the shadowy figure we saw on top the mountaintop.
Speaker: that's That's figure I can't forget. That's first time I met him. don't know if I brought him here what I've done, but if I did, I brought him here instead of my mother, who I was trying to bring back to life. i It's unforgivable.
Speaker: Who is this shadowy figure? I don't know.
Speaker: i mean, and I know him. I know him well. I know him too well, but I don't know him.
Speaker: And he's been force of havoc ever since I e e met him. He's the one that attacked us on the mountain.
Speaker: What exactly happened on the mountain? Yellen?
Speaker: I... a lot. And it was lot. We met an old goatish man and he he was with him.
Speaker: The old man broke Maeve's leg and a figure killed the giants. and And do you got thrown into the portal? Yeah. is this Are these beings ones we should be worried about?
Speaker: Prepared for? This is why I bring this up. He seems to follow me. Everywhere i go, even if I'm on top of a remote cliff, yes, I would be worried.
Speaker: yeah I don't know if he can go to the primordial plane, um which regretfully made me stay there longer than I needed to.
Speaker: And i yeah i I just feel like you should know. Put the information out there so you could be prepared. Thank you.
Speaker: But if he couldn't find you in the Primordial Plane, that's perhaps the safest place for all of us to be if we are with you. My thoughts exactly. And would... When you attempted to resurrect or revive your mother...
Speaker: And that fail. was Was it because it didn't actually fail? i don't know. I always thought I read it wrong. i always thought I was the problem.
Speaker: Now I know I'm not so sure. Could we just rewind a little? You said that you stayed there longer than you should have. I did.
Speaker: I did. Maeve, I'm sorry. I got lost in the feeling of security, and i I shouldn't have. I know you were working tirelessly. no time, of course, but I knew.
Speaker: i i i know now all you've done, and...
Speaker: I'm sorry didn't try harder.
Speaker: We're on a mission, so it's in the past. She just kind of, she puts her helmet down and so you can't see her face at all. And she just sits silently.
Speaker: Maeve hears in her head because we've we've established if we're doing this telepathic link, we can say things to each other without others hearing. Is that correct? No.
Speaker: Oh, nevermind. If we are all connected, we are all connected. Okay. Then nevermind.
Speaker: I think, I think we are all going to have to be honest with each other. If there is anything else that we need to be on the lookout for, The wagon has been traveling this entire time as it has now left the city and is outside the walls and is traveling towards the town over where this rift has formed.
Speaker: With a crack of thunder right after Talira says this, Lou begins to freak out. She backs to a corner and puts her paws on her head and her eyes go wide and she begins yelping and and whining and crying.
Speaker: And when her eyes go wide, she looks at Talira and then she looks at you, Kalden. Lou? Lou? Lou, what's going on, at Talira? He immediately goes to her. Yeah, Talira also rushes to her and uses one of the charges of speak with animals for the day. Hey, hey, what's going on He talks to me.
Speaker: he's He's in my head. He's here. He's here. Who's here? Him. the the the The man that... The one who took me.
Speaker: Okay. Okay. He's not getting you back. He's... He's said something. What is going on? What did he say? He said that he he... He said that he knows that I have Arwenriel with me. Who is that?
Speaker: Who? What is going on? I'm gonna mind Link. Talira has not been telling us what the fuck is happening. Oh, shit. Sorry. Yeah, you can't hear. Yeah. um That's right. You know what? We don't know what the fuck is happening. yeah Talira be panicking. She would not. She would not be communicating this.
Speaker: I use a charge. She's included in the mind link now. Lou, what is going on? Are you? He's... Calvin, he's here. Who? is The man, the the thing but that took me.
Speaker: Lust. What? Oh, fuck no. He just did. He just said he's coming and that that someone told him that our wind reel was with me.
Speaker: I don't even know who that is. he was Who's a wind reel? This is perfect. I wanted to kick some ass. Can this thing go faster? We gotta go. Did he? Is that all he said? Talira shouts to the driver, we need to rush as quickly as you can. Okay, I'm i'm going. um I can't go too much faster given the weather. As the wind, you can feel the wind kind rocking the wagon a little bit. A crack of thunder goes again. And in that moment, as the lightning had flashed, the flaps from the wind had opened. And you see, as Lou looked through it, her eyes go even wider now.
Speaker: Lou, I stand in front of her. Fuck! Okay, Talira, about that thing you just asked everyone, if if we have any more surprises, that's one of mine. Okay, well, we will deal with it, and Talira's getting out her axe.
Speaker: No, no, you can't. We will die. You hear a thump on the side of the wagon. Shit! I don't think we have much of a choice, Calden. you You can't hear the movement because of the rain and the thunder and the wind being too loud, but it has moved to the back, and you see as the flap swings open, you can see the face of some being. It looks maybe half elven, but it's got red eyes, and as it looks around, it opens its mouth and smiles, almost kind of kind of hisses at you guys, and you can see two very long vampire teeth.
Speaker: Can I swore to kick it out? Yeah, you can absolutely try. Go for it. I don't have good strength. Ha Is, okay, question. Is that going to be straight strength or is it going to be athletics?
Speaker: It doesn't matter. Athletics. Definitely athletics. It's a zero modifier regardless. 18! de Yeah, no, that does it. Yeah. As you, Sparta kick out, it hits him in the face and he loses grip in the rain and everything and tumbles into the into the mud.
Speaker: Fuck off! As you do that, Kalden, you get a view of the land behind you. As the wagon, as the driver heard that thump and heard the screams in the back and the horses have indeed started to pick up pace, thumping across the uneven dirt in the flash of lightning after kicking the vampire off the end, you see at least 30 of them sprinting behind the wagon.
Speaker: I cast death word on Kalden. And on a horse leading behind them, you see a man you haven't seen in several years. A tall, muscular, bald-headed man with a handlebar mustache.
Speaker: And you can see just the creepy, sneering smile that you've seen as he kind of waves to you. A little finger wave. I... I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. i I'm so sorry, everyone. i Calden, shut up. We've got to get this going. It's fine.
Speaker: Calden. No sorries. We'll get this done. We'll talk about it later. What kind of holy magic do we have with us? Obviously, yeah even if if I don't leave, I've killed you all.
Speaker: You're not going anywhere. shut up. You're not going. I'm so sorry, Lou. it's It's okay. Maybe, oh my God, maybe we can get to, how far away are we? i Maybe we can get to the rift. The rift, maybe that could save us.
Speaker: I don't know. Oh, God. don't want to die. You're not going to die, Lou. don't want to be taken back. I won't let that happen. Going to be fine. We need to lighten this carriage. You guys will go faster if we do that.
Speaker: When you say that, Lou then keels over in pain, paws on her head. It's so much pain, she tries to scream, but it gets caught in her throat. And when she keels over, you can see the brand that only, i think, two of you know about. You see it lighting up. Blue, no, I'm so sorry.
Speaker: as she just took 11 psychic damage. How far away is Mustache Man lost? He's probably several hundred feet. I would like to cast my spiritual weapon in the road.
Speaker: Okay. As you all start to take actions here, this is not going to be a normal initiative battle. This is going to play more like a chase sequence. You all are free to make your own decisions absolutely within this, and if it doesn't go with the chase sequence that I have, we will figure it out. That's fine.
Speaker: I will let you know in advance. You have six rounds of time before you get to the town in which this rift is. Each round, you can take your actions. There's the obvious ones like, you know, fight a vampire, heal the party member. But I'll let you know that the one of the other actions you can take is try to protect the horses or the driver.
Speaker: Good news, guys. I have some things for this. I have things. I also have some things I can do. You go first. Yes. I i will go ahead and have you guys roll initiative. The way this will work is I'm not going to roll initiative. It's just initiative for you guys to know what order for you to say things in and what you're going to And then when all four of you have gone, I will do the vampires.
Speaker: Now, I will say the vampires are going to go first. That way you have somebody to attack if you choose to. Oh, I just rolled two nat 20s for my initiative. Holy shit. Nice. Damn. it's 22.
Speaker: yeah that's twenty two 19 for Kalden. It was a four. What about Yellen? 16 for Yellen.
Speaker: Does that mean I can go first first because I rolled nat 20?
Speaker: Twice, by the way. yeah Two nat 20s. Can I go before the vampires? You know Yeah. I'll let you. Since you got a natural 20, I'll say that yes, you can do that. Perfect. Because I'm leaving.
Speaker: Bye. Leaving. Just leaving. Just leaving.
Speaker: She's like, y'all have pissed me off too many times today already. I'm leaving. Fuck all of you guys. No, she casts fine steed and literally jumps out pocks on her steed. So I got two actions. Nice.
Speaker: That's badass. I love that. yeah What is the material of our cover? How is it built? It's like tarpy type material. It's water resistant, like water resistant kind of cloth. Are the braces for it such that I could stand up there?
Speaker: If you stand on the braces, it is not solid. So it's, yeah, so you would have to balance on them. Wanna hop on my horse with me? I wanna be close to the driver and the horses and stuff. So Maeve summons some Moss and she just kinda pushes everyone ah out of the way and literally jumps out and she's like, don't forget to do your job, Cleric.
Speaker: I think that would be, I guess, two actions? That would be movement in the casting. I do have ah also dual wielding, so I could probably bonus action something, but I think no one's really close yet. So Maeve's just going to set up for a good position. Yeah, get up set up for a good position and at least she'll get up to the horses and the driver and let him know to brace for attack, go as fast as possible.
Speaker: So she'll be like, enemies behind us, brace for attack. For taking the time to do that and position yourself well, I will give you advantage on two of the attacks to protect the horse or driver, and those ones can be of your choice.
Speaker: Perfect. Thank you. Okay. Vampires will go. The two vampires, see two of them catch up and they latch onto the wagon and they try to enter in to attack the party.
Speaker: They each will make an attack. The first one, as it is going to... would be closest? Who would be closest to the opening? me I just kicked someone out oh you haven't jumped out yet yeah so it'd be Calvin that'll be a 17 to hit yeah that hits no it doesn't I have an armor class of 18 woohoo nice second one will be a 7 so that also misses yeah fuck you vampires One of the vampires comes up and tries to take out one of the legs of the horses, trying to attack the horse.
Speaker: The way this is going to work, if you want to use the action to protect the horse or driver, you can make an opposing attack roll. And if your attack roll is higher, you will protect them. You can into a position to do that. If you want to say, I am protecting the horse and driver for my turn, the next time that the vampires like do an attack, and you you've said that you will protect to them, that is how it will be done is with an opposing roll.
Speaker: Yeah, they got a 24 on that one. I would like to use my reaction. And Talira's shield lights up with the rune for shield. as she sees the vampire going to attack, something magically holds just enough strength back as I invoke my rune magic to protect an ally. When another creature you can see within 60 feet of you is hit by an attack roll, you can use the reaction to force the attacker to roll reroll the d20 and use the new roll. Okay.
Speaker: That is 13, which is just below the DC I have set for hitting the driver of the horse. Hell yeah. That was a good one. Thank you. And then the other vampire will try to damage the wagon, and he rolled high enough for that. As you see a vampire come up and ram himself, taking damage in the process, but ram himself into the one of the wheels. It will take two more hits to fully make that wheel inoperable.
Speaker: Now it starts your guys' turn and go Maeve, Kalden, Yellen, and Talira. Will Calden next? Yeah, are we saying that Maeve already took her turn? Oh, yes. So Calden. Okay. My bag has holy water and a stake.
Speaker: And he jumps out to climb onto the canvas, or like not on the canvas, but like on a support beam up top. Or actually, is there a vampire in my way if I do that? Yes, because I don't think anybody's fought them yet. So yes, there two.
Speaker: Okay, cool. I have a dagger sheathed on my thigh that I spend meticulous hours every day wiping down to keep clean with holy water.
Speaker: So I'm going to pull that out and I would like to swipe at this guy. All right, roll to hit. That will be a 15. 15 just misses.
Speaker: fifteen just misses Let's I think my dagger works the same as my psychic's. Yes, I have a nick, so I can go again. 17 plus nine.
Speaker: oh that definitely hits. That one hits. You didn't even need your modifier. For the record, you do not need to roll damage when fighting these vampires since this is more of a chase sequence rather than an actual battle.
Speaker: Each vampire spawn will take two hits to knock off the wagon or kill now that we're into the actual sequence, unless you have specified instruments of warfare that are especially dangerous to undead or vampires and things like that, such as a dagger with holy water. With that one hit, it will kill him and knock him off the wagon.
Speaker: Excellent. Wonderful. Good. I have a... i can do a bonus action attack. Is there another one within range for anything? Just the the one you missed. If there were two in the wagon.
Speaker: I will also tell you... 19 plus 9. That you lost nine but definitely hits. I'll also tell you that the DC to hit the vampires, since now you've've you've gotten the real close thing for me, is 16. But after a couple rounds, the stronger vampires will come up, and the DC will become eighteen So now that I've killed those two, now I'm going to go out.
Speaker: Okay. So I'm outside and can see everything. And that's me. Okay, as Kaladin gets up on top, standing on the support beams, that leaves just Lou, Lyra, and Yellen within the wagon proper. As Yellen, it is your turn.
Speaker: All right, I am going to cast Aura of Purity on myself, an aura that radiates 30 feet from you. While it's in fact, my allies have resistance to poison damage and advantage on saving throws to avoid the effects of blinded, charmed, deafened, frightened, paralyzed, poisoned, or stunned.
Speaker: Dang, nice. Sure. Holy shit! And then I'm going to, I guess, move to the opening. Yellen moves to the opening and that'll bring us to Talira's turn. Calden said that there was holy water in his pack. Talira, what would it be for Talira to grab the holy water and apply it to some arrows?
Speaker: I would say normally in combat, I believe interacting with an object is an action, but in this chase sequence, it's not normal combat and I'll give it to you for a bonus. Okay, cool.
Speaker: She would use her bonus action then to apply the holy water to couple arrows and then aim for the mustache. Okay.
Speaker: That's not going to hit. So one misses. think that's two misses. Plus five to my attack. Yeah, that's going to miss. Anything else, Talira? That's all she's got. It will now go to the vampire's turn.
Speaker: I will make note that no one said that they would protect the driver of the horses. um It's my turn. You went though. You went at the top of the turn order. Yeah, I went and then the vampires went. With natural 20, I allowed you to go before the vampires just for the first turn.
Speaker: Yeah, it was just for the first turn. Oh, okay, cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I'm up there. I'm right next to them. I just, yeah. Yeah, you are right there. I know you're going to protect them. I know that was your plan. So, okay. So the two vampires will go as two more get onto the wagon and one begins climbing up the supports to get to Kalden and another one puts his head through the wagon rear about ready to attack Yellen. The first one's going to attack Kalden and that will be when natural Um, actually I'm going to use Warden at Death's Door and make and nullify the effects of the critical. Can you see that that's happening? We're outside. Yellen was at the tent flaps, so he's got the view. Yes, but the tent flaps look, look out. Kaladin's above.
Speaker: Thank you, Renny, for, you know. Yeah, kind of shooting myself with that one, huh? Unfortunate. and do you have to see him. Damn it. That will be 12 slashing and 16 necrotic.
Speaker: And then the one that's going to attack Yellen only got a 12. Punch his teeth out with my shield. Bop. The one vampire that will attack the horses gets 24. So he will do I rolled atrociously on that damage. Only eight damage to one of the horses. Oh, thank God. That was a four, two, a one, and a one. That was really bad.
Speaker: And then the one vampire will try to damage the wheel again and comes to shoulder check the wheel. He is successful in doing so as only one, i believe one more hit is going to make the one wheel inoperable. Now the wagons can still roll, but it will be slowed down.
Speaker: And that is the vampire's turn. Maeve, we are to you. And will that increase the number of turns before we can make it to the portal? It would. Now, it can be repaired. I did put in it put in there that if somebody wants to try to repair the wagon, that's an option.
Speaker: Does anybody have mending? Nope. Shit. I do. Maeve is going to hold action to protect the horses. Protecting the horses, okay. Any bonus action or movement?
Speaker: Well, she's on her horse. ah Would my horse get a turn too? Technically, I think. Would my horse be able to protect another horse if I protect a horse even though we're on the same thing?
Speaker: I would say yeah. Your horse could probably do a kick or something like that. Yay, I hold both to protect the horse and the driver. Okay, anything else? That will be it.
Speaker: Fantastic, as you're racing beside these horses, the mud flying from the hooves as this this wagon just attempts to go as fast as it can without falling apart. You are there to protect the horses. Next up is Kaldun.
Speaker: I have one right on my ass. You do have one right on your ass. All right, going stab him with my special blade. I'm not going to eat his ass, Maeve. We're not that close.
Speaker: It's not that kind of relationship. That'll be 19. Yeah, that definitely hits. So i I stab him. Boom. You stab him. Some nasty blood flies out of his wound and he falls off the wagon and gets tumbled into the mud as a crack of thunder and lightning shoots across the sky once again as the wind just seems to be picking up in speed more and more.
Speaker: Calden stands there for a second, looking across the way to Mustache Man. His hair's like flying in the wind because we're racing. There's water everywhere he just sort of stares him down for a second. And then he hops down to where the driver is to protect the driver and the horses.
Speaker: Okay. Because I do have one more attack and one more bonus attack, if you'll let that count for protecting. I'll give you one, one of those. Okay. Okay, Yellen, you are up.
Speaker: It's time to turn the undead. The voice.
Speaker: Our professor here. Yes, today I'm going to teach you about turn undead.
Speaker: Okay, I believe there's a save with that. Yes, I need a wisdom 16. I'm going to make one roll for all of the just small spot.
Speaker: Damn No! Oh no. Oh, this is fucked. We are fucked. Would silvery barbs work? This is not good. i didn't. Hey! ah Silvery barbs. Ooh, silvery barbs. Yeah, that would work. Yeah, I can silvery barbs. Would that work? Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker: Okay, here we go. 17.
Speaker: seventeen what
Speaker: It was a good shot. It was a good try. That's crazy. Damn it! It's because I rolled really bad in the last in the last combat we had. This is terrible. As you use Turn Undead, all the spawn that are and have been surrounding the the wagon, trying to beat it down, jump on, trying to attack you, you can see as this this wave of of divine energy comes out. and You can see all of them shake their head and they they fall back like five feet just for a moment before they're able to shake it off and get a clear head again, and they take off after you. All Can i like could I possibly hang out of the back to protect the back wheel?
Speaker: Yeah, you can do that. do You want to hang out. Kind of like hold on to the the entry. Okay. In that case, I would say yes. When you make the protection rolls, I want you to also make a a dexterity saving throw. I will say the DC is really low, so you have ah a really good chance of of getting it every time, but there is a small chance of failure.
Speaker: Watch me not get it. watch cla He's a cleric. Okay. He's a cleric. I'll turn undead again and then we'll teach him something. It'll be DC. The DC will only be eight. Okay.
Speaker: Taking pity on him. No, I mean, it's to be fair. i mean, he's just leaning out. And like the the reason there's a DC at all is because you guys are going so quick and then the wagon's so bumpy and it's windy. so that's the only reason there it is a DC at all. But it's not like he's like hanging out with only one leg on the thing. I mean, it's not too crazy. So and put your shield on your back turtle style.
Speaker: I'm going to shield surf like Link, actually. Oh, my gosh. OK, so Yellen's protecting the wheel. Talira, you are up. Am I able to split up my attack action with protecting Weal and trying to attack one of the vampires?
Speaker: I allowed Kaladin to do it, so I'll allow you to do it, but you can only do one and one. If you have a third attack, it will not be able to be used. Talira is going to crawl out, get get her head around seeing everything that's around, and is there a vampire within reach?
Speaker: I think one attacked Yellen that's still alive, so yes. Okay, I would like to grab it. So really, my my it's an unarmed strike is what I'm gonna be doing. I'm gonna be doing an unarmed strike against it using a bonus action to grapple is my intention.
Speaker: Nice, that was 19 on the die. Hopefully that was the one that was probably going to be attacking the wagon anyway, so that that's gonna be helping her protect the wagon. The one that's attacking the wagon is on the ground outside the wagon.
Speaker: Oh, shit. Okay. Is it damage if I throw a motherfucker at another motherfucker? That's what I knew you were going to do. Absolutely.
Speaker: I'm so here for it. I knew that's what you were going to do. Oh, my gosh. ah Fucking two. Oh, man. You throw him and he's for sure, he hits the ground and everything, but you, unfortunately, the other vampire manages to stop for a moment as you throw him and miss. So he's able to evade your throwing of the other spawn. It was a great idea. I loved it. I knew that's what you're going to
Speaker: Anything else, Talira? Yeah, I'm going to action surge. Oh, shit. Okay. Okay. She is going to use those two attacks with her long bow again, trying to pick some off.
Speaker: I would like to go for muscly man or like big man. With your bow again? Yeah, yeah, because she did, she tipped some arrows, so she might as well use them. Yeah, might as well go for it. All right.
Speaker: Oh my god, this dice is going into jail. That was a four. oh no A fucking another four, fucking hell. As the as the arrows you just go flying by him at that distance and he's just standing there smiling as he, well, not standing, sitting on his horse smiling. Standing on his horse smiling.
Speaker: He's just standing on it. Superman posing on top of the horse. Talira's just really worried about Lou. This is what's happened. She is so worried about Lou. Fair. Lou is actively panicking, hardcore.
Speaker: As the arrows fly by, the storm wreaking havoc, you can see in the distance daylight at the edge of the clouds. As with the glory peninsula positioned so uniquely near the Everstorm, sometimes quick moving severe cells will break off and hammer into this landmass.
Speaker: So as you see that sunlight, you know the storm may not last too long. You still have plenty of time you have to survive, get to the town of the rift. And hopefully that can be your saving grace from this army of spawn, let alone the potential elementals that you are running towards at the rift. The first vampire being the closest to the edge is going to be Yellen. And that's a natural one. So they don't hit you.
Speaker: The other one would go for Talira in the back. Yeah. So as you, as one jumps past Yellen and as he's fighting off a different one jumps in and that's a natural two. Neither of you are taking damage. Wow. Well, I rolled good for a while. Hey, you know what? Maybe I just gave you my curse. That's right. One of the vampires coming up to the front trying to attack the horse again is going to roll. Who's going to make the opposing roll since I know there's several of those attacks available?
Speaker: It is me. i have advantage. Would it just be an attack with like a sword a attack? Whatever your attack would be, just roll that attack. That's a 13. Oh, don't even need to use it. Nope, you don't even need to use it. It misses anyway. I won't make you burn it. It misses anyway. The other vampire will try to damage the wagon as it tries to go into the wheel again, which I believe Yellen is prepared for this. I'm so ready. He rolls an 18, which is enough for the DC. So if you'd like to roll to try to beat that, you can roll an attack to ward him off.
Speaker: Ooh, ooh, ooh, 19. Let's go. Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho. Nice, good roll. As he goes to attack and you slice and tear him up as he rolls into the mud and another one looks like it's racing up to take his place.
Speaker: That is the vampire's turn. The DC for the vampires goes up this next round. have two rolls, right, that i have to make for one for not falling off. Ooh, yes, yeah, give me the dexterity saving throw. Ain't no big three.
Speaker: Oh, no. Delira, if you have a reaction, you are within range to try to do something. Yeah, I do have a reaction. Am I able to try to catch him? Yeah, if you want to also make me a dexterity saving throw.
Speaker: Or I guess for you, it'd be a check. So i'll I'll give you either an athletics or a acrobatics. probably would Either one of those. Okay, I'll go athletics. 15. 15. Yeah, that's definitely enough. as you're able to as he As his hand slips, you're able to grab him by the wrist and pull him back in.
Speaker: is Thank you. Anytime. Maeve, it is your turn. Okay, ah because she has the two attackies, I would like to attack the one that keeps attacking the horse or whatever is closest and then hold off the other one to defend. is that That's what we're doing.
Speaker: Am I able to attack one and then hold off to defend? Yes, I've made that deal with the other two, so I'll allow you to do as well. Is any of the big vampires up the front yet, the big bad ones? They're just now getting up there. So I will say if you want to attack one, I will say that it will preemptively stop one from attacking someone else next turn. Okay, I'll do that. 18?
Speaker: 18, yeah. Yeah, you definitely, you knock one out as, how do you want to kill it? is This is a big one. Can I kill it now? or do i have to do anything else to kill it? Or... No, you just how how would you want to attack? Well, actually, I guess yours wouldn't kill it unless you have a specialized weapon against undead. It would be one attack towards killing it.
Speaker: Or if I have a bonus action of smite. Yeah, that would do it. That's radiant damage. As you do that, you manage to take one out that was coming up to a approach that would have attacked Kalden, managing to remove one of the vampires that would attack somebody next turn.
Speaker: All right, Kalden, it is your turn. Okay, here's what I'm gonna do. Kaladin's gonna jump off the wagon, sideways, and he's gonna run sideways for a while, like, away from the wagon, and then back into the fray. With all of the vampires... How fast can you He can go 105 feet in a single turn. So you just didn't eat the wagon at all? Holy shit!
Speaker: What the fuck? So i would say he went about 10 feet out and then back. because he wanted to be moving away from the wagon the whole time. So he's close to 100 feet behind the wagon now, or more, because it's still moving forward in the fray.
Speaker: Can description of like the kind of running that he's doing and when he just hops off? It doesn't look calculated, his running right now. And he looks really mad. He looks really pissed off. In fact, before he jumps off, you're son of Calden!
Speaker: we And we all see him running towards the undead, right? Yeah, you can all see this probably. Calden, what the fuck? Where are you going? I'm sorry. Yelling it is your turn.
Speaker: I have to do what Yellen would do here. i'm i'm so confused jack is speechless
Speaker: Oh boy. Well, you see, we talked about this, Kalden and I. I'm sticking to him. I'm going cast Spirit Guardians, and I'm yelling just kind of, Kalden!
Speaker: And he leaps off. No! No way! Yeah, he's he's gone. ah How do I land? how do I land, Wuze? You can make me a Dexter to save and throw. Yeah, I sure can. I'm pretty good at those. I don't know if you knew that.
Speaker: That's going to be another three. Yeah, you you try to land. It's one of those things like you try to like, you're like, well, surely if I just like land while running, it'd be okay. And your foot just catches and you face plant right into the ground.
Speaker: It's surely if Maeve can jump out and land on a horse, I can just jump off this moving object. It'll be fine. Oh, man. That definitely will be bludgeoning damage. I rolled a D8 and then only got a two. So you take two bludgeoning damage. Luckily, because the ground is so soft from the mud.
Speaker: That's not too bad. I'll take that. I just wow. Just wow. i am Oh, we're so fucked. Okay, we're fine. I have a plan. Maybe. If it works. Don't worry, guys.
Speaker: I got plan. I have a plan too, if you don't die next turn. I mean, Kalden just yeeted himself off the wagon directly towards the enemy, so, um... I got a plan, Arthur.
Speaker: i don't know, Dutch. It's a beautiful place. So we should like stop here so everyone's still alive and you know there's always hope if we stop right here. We are alive a while. This is the end of the show, actually. Yeah, end of the show. Everything fine. Everything fine. We are neither alive nor dead.
Speaker: we are neither alive nor dead I don't like that face, Wuze. What is that? Is that all of the damage Keldon's about to take? No. No. This is just, this is gonna, this is like, ah everyone will talk about the rest of the game like Lost Media. This is just where it ends.
Speaker: I'm so scared, y'all. Oh, God. You should be. You should be. Okay, whose turn is it? So. It's Yellen, Yellen, Yellen. Is there anything else you can do besides jump out?
Speaker: No, that's it. That's all. a Fucking idiot. I'm ready. I'm ready. our bread Okay, I have no idea what the fuck to do. First, Calden is going to hear in his head, and so will everybody else because we're mindling.
Speaker: What the fuck is going on? Get your ass back here! i can't. As Talira is pulling out her axe to take over protecting the wagon.
Speaker: Why not? I'm sorry. The good news is they'll probably leave if they get me. They're not getting you, Kalden. I cannot let that happen. I'd rather you all stay safe. You don't know what they will do to you, Kalden. Unfortunately, I do know.
Speaker: Kalden, putting us in more danger by doing this. I really am sorry. I know something about you that... He's already cut off the communication.
Speaker: Talira... Talira is doing what she can to protect the wagon. She knows she can't get to Kalden in time. She can't catch up with him.
Speaker: Actually, no, she's not going to protect the wagon. She's going to hope her shield can, her runic shield, and she's going to loose another two arrows. Nat one.
Speaker: And an 11. Kalden! go good He looks back at you and he looks so sad and apologetic. Yellen, get to him! Get to him, Yellen! You have to protect him, please!
Speaker: Question? Yes? I know we're holding my horse's action, but could I... Oh, do you want me to just keep it held? What would you want to do with it?
Speaker: Face step. Yeah, I'll allow that. So it's 60 feet. i don't know how far Calden is. About 100, between 100 and 120.
Speaker: If you're able to do 60 facetep and 60 feet, you are able to get to him. And your horse hasn't done anything yet as far as the turn goes, so I will allow it. Because I mentally bond with my horse facetep and just start galloping past Yellen straight towards Calden.
Speaker: You're not able to grab him yet, but you arrive in the blink of an eye. As fast as Kalden got off and ran away, you were almost perfectly in sync to react. They're immediately next to him as there are spawn all around you, passing plenty of them on the way back. It's the vampire's turn.
Speaker: I'm still holding onto to one protection action that I was going to use for the thing. You can use it to protect yourself or Calvin if you would like, but the rules slightly change as you're not with the wagon anymore. You are alone in deeper into the spawn that are chasing you.
Speaker: I'm going to do the wagon first. Then I'll do the other three of you who have left the wagon. Talira, you will take one attack because Maeve killed the other one that was going to attack someone.
Speaker: Okay. That is a 20 to hit. That will hit.
Speaker: That will five slashing and three necrotic. One vampire will attack the horses. It misses. And one vampire will attack the wagon.
Speaker: And it hits with a 20 as you feel that wheel that was weakened. You feel a spoke give out as the wagon is forced to slow down a little bit. Now for the other three of you, you will each take three attacks as three vampires are are within range to attack each of you.
Speaker: Yellen. First one is an 18. Next one is nine. And the last one's a nat 20. ah One of those hits, probably both of them. So for the first one that hit, because that will be nine slashing, six necrotic.
Speaker: Easy, we take it. And then for the natural 20, that'll be six slashing, 14 necrotic. Light work, light work. We live this. Kaladin. Why did you come after me?
Speaker: The attacks on you are an 11, 23, and a 13. a twenty three and a thirteen So you will take six slashing and nine necrotic.
Speaker: And on Maeve, you will get attacked. The first one is 20, not natural. Second one is a 13. thirteen Third one is a 21. Two hit. My AC is 18. And regardless, I can't take criticals because of my armor.
Speaker: You will take 15 slashing and 13 necrotic as the vampires see the prey and converge. I took damage. You did take damage.
Speaker: You took damage. Okay. And Maeve, it is your turn. So she gets up to count. She's like, get on the horse. Yes. Yep.
Speaker: Where the fuck did you follow me? Why the fuck did you leave? i had no choice. You have a choice. You're fucking this up. She just reaches her hand down and grabs him and pulls him onto the horse.
Speaker: He accepts. I'm not sure you want to count that as an action or a bonus action or movement or whatever you want to do. I would say similar to how Talira interacting with an object was a bonus, I would consider the same. Bonus action.
Speaker: Calden is an object. Calden is an object. Of our desire. Oh, the hell. Okay, so we're going to try to get the fuck out of there.
Speaker: To do so, I'm going to hold off on my attack. Oh, when we leave, we're going to get attacked, aren't we? ah So if you you were in normal combat, oh yeah, you'd be taking opportunity attacks like crazy, but we're not in normal combat, and that is the only thing saving you here.
Speaker: Okay, perfect. So we, I'm gonna hold ah both my attacks and my horses to defend and we are going to leg it the fuck out of here and I'm gonna have Kalden on my back and hopefully he can do his distance attackies.
Speaker: Okay. And we're just gonna leg it and Yellen's on own, sorry. And how much movement are you able to get? 60. sixty Okay, you take off 60, leaving some of those vampires in the dust as they just got finished attacking you all.
Speaker: Calden, you are up. Holy fuck. That was a roller coaster that we're not off.
Speaker: Okay, okay. How many turns now with the wagon broken? We were at two left. I'm going to add probably one more just for the sake of time. Okay, how far away is Mustache now from me?
Speaker: Maybe like 150 feet. I am going to shoot him with my short bow. I believe I get disadvantage on that because it's beyond 80 feet. I believe so, yes.
Speaker: Would you allow, my since my action is using the long bone set of daggers, can I use my bonus for my psychic dagger still? Yeah, I'd allow that. Yeah.
Speaker: Cool. If it's not two-weapon fighting and it's a rogue ability, then yeah, absolutely. 17 plus... plus 9. Yeah, that hits
Speaker: that hits. 23 damage. And this is to who exactly? one of the spawn or Mustache? Mustache. Okay. 23 damage. Oh, I'm sorry. It was 17. It automatically added sneak attack on there.
Speaker: Sorry. Okay, no worries. It'll be the same. With the wind howling and the crack of cracks of thunder, i mean, you you can't make out anything he might say by any means, but you see that you hit as you see a little bit of blood fly into the wind and get carried. and You see his smile kind of turn into ah a slight grimace for a moment, and he dips his head down and just kind of nods in your direction.
Speaker: Okay, Yellen, as the wagon is pulling away from you and you see that Maeve has pulled Kalden onto Moss and is beginning back. It's your turn.
Speaker: I'm going to do something you've never seen before. I'm going to use my ability Heart of Ice on myself, covering my skin in a layer of ice, which makes me slide. So I'm going clear the way. By the way, I have spirit guardians up, so those vampires who attack me should have rolled for spirit guardians, but I forgot, so...
Speaker: That's my apologies. I'll say their attack still hit you, but I'll roll to see if they got hit in the process also dying. All good, all good. What is the save on Spirit Guardians? 16. One of them survived. The other two died. Then I would like to use my movement to run and slide to try to clear the way like a bowling ball with Spirit Guardians up. Sick. Okay, and it's anyone that enters within the five feet range of you, correct?
Speaker: Yes. Okay. How far can you move? My movement increases by 15 feet, and I'm unimpeded by difficult terrain. Okay. ah Were you up to 45 now?
Speaker: Yes. So I will slide 45 feet like a Spirit Guardian's bowling ball. Okay. I'll say you encounter in 45 feet, you encounter three more vampires. I'll say three more. I'll do the rolls now.
Speaker: First one's a nat one. He's dead. Second one's a nat one. He's dead. Oh my God. And then third one saves with a 13 plus. Oh, I got the spare. Let's go.
Speaker: Nice. Hell yeah. are and Okay. That'll be my turn then. Nice. As you see all this go down, Kaladin's being saved on the way back. Talia, it's your turn as the wagon is limping along.
Speaker: What would it be to fix the wheel? Because this is more of a MacGyver type fix, I'm thinking this is a survival type roll. And this will be done at disadvantage because you're having to hang down while the wagon's moving to try to fix it, unless you make it stop. If you stop the wagon, it'll be straight roll.
Speaker: Okay. Yeah, I'll take that.
Speaker: Hey, that's a dirty 20. Nice. Yeah. I would say you're able to using like some of your rope and things, you're able to wrap it around just right as it's moving to stabilize the wheel to at least, it's not going to last super long.
Speaker: You know, it's a real weak spare tire essentially, but you're able to stabilize it enough for allow for some speed to be gathered again. Cool. Was that my full action or one of my two attacks?
Speaker: That would require an action. That's fine. We're moving. All right. As the speed picks back up. Anything with a bonus action? Actually, yes. With my bonus action, I'll go back and tip a couple more arrows. Oh, okay. go ahead and get them tipped. Nice. good Good idea. And now it's the vampire's turn. And once again, we have three of you not in the wagon. So you will take the three attacks. This time we'll do spirit guardians properly though. And they're going to have before they attack you Yellen. I'll do those now.
Speaker: and two of them save, so you'll get two attacks. I can use my reaction while I'm in a Heart of Ice to reduce the damage by my level. Nice.
Speaker: The total damage is 14 slashing and 11 necrotic, and you can reduce reduce that by your level. Okay. Maeve, you take the three hits.
Speaker: First one's a nat 20. Second one is a is 16. fourteen last one is a sixteen Cool. That's a normal 20. For you. That's right. And I'm going to hold off my... I'll just take it Because it's a normal. And I'm going to hold it off in case cowing gets fucked up.
Speaker: Okay. For the one protection one you have left. Calden does also still have Death Wart from when I casted earlier. Nice. Nice. That will be eight slashing, six necrotic for you, Maeve.
Speaker: And then, Kalden, you're three. And Maeve, you have one protection to use if you want to try to oppose one of these. First one's a nat 20. Yeah, I'll oppose that one.
Speaker: It's a nat 20 for 26, so you got to get higher than a 26.
Speaker: for me. get bonus as well? Are they within 60 feet? Sorry, two questions. Are they within 60 feet? Yes, they are because of the 60 feet of movement from moss. What did you say, Sass? I get advantage. Are we within 60 feet? Because it was 120-ish, you said, before we started coming back. We did 60. The wagon is moving away from us the whole time.
Speaker: Right. So it was 105 is where you were. That's where she had stopped. And she did that all in the same turn. No no movement had been lost from the wagon yet. um Wagon moved probably around 45, 50. And then she was able to use 60. Okay, so maybe not quite.
Speaker: You make a good point. It would be just, it'd probably be like 70 or 80. I really should just be keeping my mouth shut. Look at Rennie, just being fair and honest.
Speaker: What was it? what do I have to roll? You have to roll a 26 or higher to protect because that was... Because again, we're not normal combat. We're doing the opposed. If you want to save it for a different one, you can. Fail. No. Because I've still got my horse one. Yeah, they both failed, but I still have... I have my horse as well, but they both failed. Okay. Okay, second one for Kaladin is a 19.
Speaker: nineteen If you want to oppose that one with the one you have left, you can. And then the last yeah one is a 20. Oh my gosh. Not a nat 20 on the last one. Fuck. thank god How bad is Keldon looking? Holy shit.
Speaker: He's seen better days. He's seen worse. Would, because I've got two actions would and I didn't take any, would I be able to block all three? You have, you could try to attempt to block one more. Yeah, and then the horse blocks one.
Speaker: i'm I'm curious, how do you have two actions though? ah Yeah, or two attacks per action. Oh, okay. So would I be able to try it all three? I will let you, allow I'll allow you to try one more.
Speaker: 21. We got one. Yeah, so you block one of the attacks. So now you just have a normal one and a nat 20 that hits you, Kalden. Hey, Jack, why don't you break off that death ward for me real quick? Read read that off for me.
Speaker: The first time a target would drop to zero hit points before the spell ends, the target instead drops to one hit point and the spell ends.
Speaker: What happens if you go twice twice your Or like, what is it, half half your max health and you would insta die? it's your health in one. Essentially, if you hit zero plus all the amount of what your normal health bar would be, then it's insta death.
Speaker: If you drop to zero and there's still 67 health left, you die. Yeah. First of the damage is 20 slashing total for that and then 16 necrotic.
Speaker: Okay. And what's the next attack? No, that is that's total. That's from both of them. Oh, that's total. Oh, good. Hey, guys, I only I'm at one thanks to Death Ward. Oh, my God.
Speaker: He falls off the horse, though, I think. I'm sure you'd be holding on to Maeve's like, like holding on to Maeve. Does Yellen know that it worked? Yeah. Do I get a feeling that Death Ward got like used? Yeah, probably. Yeah, I'd say so.
Speaker: Damn it. ah say I'm going to have you not fall off the horse just because I trust Maeve to hold on to you. Okay, he's draped over you now then. That's fine. Romantic, my new ship.
Speaker: He needs healing quickly, please. Talira, the vampires have not stopped going after Lou as well, so the wagon is still a target. Yep. The first attack towards you 19.
Speaker: That misses. The second one 25. That hits. Yes. is twenty five that hiss That will be six slashing and five necrotic.
Speaker: Attack on the horse is successful. I'm gonna use a runic shield reaction. And that makes them reroll, right? Yeah, that's a reroll on the horse. For two plus six, so they miss. Nice.
Speaker: And the last one will try to damage the wagon again as they start going for one of the other wheels and they miss. All right. Maeve, it is your turn. Fuck. Okay, so Kaladin is fucked up.
Speaker: I'm holding onto Kaladin. I do Lay of Hands as a bonus action. Please heal Yellen. yeah This is my bonus action. Shut up. And I'm doing...
Speaker: Excellent fourth wall breaking. Love it. What the fuck is a bonus action?
Speaker: Sorry. Okay, I'm going to ignore Kaladin and I am going to give him 20 my 30 pool for my bonus action.
Speaker: ah Paladin, Paladin, come into the rescue. Looking good. Hell yeah. He she looks bad, but he's looking better. can you describe me? What does your lay on hands look like as you're giving it to him?
Speaker: Okay, so, well, he's got his he's draped over me, so I grab his arm, his hand, that's, like, kind of wrapped around me. He can just feel, like, this warm, glowing divine light just slowly seep through his hand, like, up his arm, through his chest, and it slowly, like, just drapes all over him, and then then just...
Speaker: slowly fades away but he feels rejuvenated oh it's so nice that the healing feels good it does it's like it's like when you take like panadol for a headache and you feel it like just disappearing I've never experienced that what's panadol oh I'm so wait panadol oh um Tylenol oh yeah that's not how it works for me Yeah. Oh, okay.
Speaker: Wild. Anyway, um so that's that. For my action, of how close are we to Yellen? Are we close? 60? Yellen used 45 feet of movement to kind of help clear the way for you guys. So if Moss is 60 feet this turn, would get you pretty close.
Speaker: Close enough to get to him or no? To touch him? Maybe not, because he's clearing a way for you, not going directly towards you. What an idiot. Okay. Okay.
Speaker: Sorry.
Speaker: ah suicecy said i just saw Jack's face.
Speaker: Give me two seconds. I have have i have a thing. i have a thing. Yeah, I can't heal you. I'm so sorry. What can I do, though? Because there is something I definitely can do. Any vampires you can kill? So you can attack vampires to take them away from what we'll attack next turn.
Speaker: Oh yeah, okay, I might do that then. Yeah, do that, do that. Because if they attack Calden more, it's bad. Yes. I'm sure he'll be fine. I'm sure he'll be fine. He's resilient.
Speaker: No, he ain't. He just went down. He's got 20 hit points. That's like 21. That's one attack. He's got 21. It's fine. 21 and an AC 18. That's pretty good.
Speaker: If he would stop critting on me. I'm going to just do my two attacks then on two two different vampires to get them away from Yellen and Kalden since we're in the same vicinity now.
Speaker: I recommend doing them on one because you're not using a Divine Smite, so it will take two to kill them. Okay, I'll do both on one then and hope for the best.
Speaker: Okay, first one is 24 to hit. Oh, that hits. hu 30, 20 for the second one. Yeah, you're able to knock out one of the vampires, which will take away one of the vampires that would hit Kaladin next turn.
Speaker: Perfect. oh'll I'll just hold off on the horse blocking, hope for the best. Well, if you want to instead not block with the horse, you can dash with the horse to get further. Could do that, but would we go past Yellen then?
Speaker: Because i the whole thing was I need to get him out as well. You could get two Yellen. You could also go past Yellen. You'd have to pick and choose how much how far you want to go. Okay, yeah I'm going to dash two Yellen because that way in next turn if we all survive, i can get all of us out.
Speaker: Sounds like a plan. In that case, Kalden, it is your turn. I assume we're making attacks. Yes. How many vampires are around Yellen? And can I reach them from the horse in melee?
Speaker: In melee, you can reach one currently as they have not moved yet. It's the one that survived his guardians. There are more on the way actively. I will also say for the record, you guys have killed a lot of the spawn.
Speaker: Yeah, fuck you. Not you, Woos.
Speaker: The vampires. Okay, so there's just one around us right now. There's one currently. There will be ah one other that moves into range to attack Yellen and another one that will move into range to attack you. From which direction? From behind us? Closer to the... Behind.
Speaker: From behind. Okay. So I'm going to attack the one that I can reach currently. Okay. With my special dagger. That's 24 to to hit Yeah, that hits. I think. 13 plus 9.
Speaker: Yep, and your dagger twenty two he falls to the ground writhing in pain. And how far away is the one that will be moving into range? It's about 25 feet right now. But i I can hold this second action to attack it once it's in range, or is that what we're saying we can do?
Speaker: If you'd like to, I'll allow that, yeah. Or whether that or like put it as like a protection. Okay, then I'll do that instead of jumping off the horse and making everyone mad. Okay, sounds good. Yellen, it is your turn. Okay, I'm making money moves. I'm making money moves. I'm going to, with my bonus action, kind of like leap above the crowd and use healing word at a high level. At fourth level on Kalden. Yeah, you see Yellen like jump up. He's like, you son a bitch! He heals him.
Speaker: Heal yourself! Ha! Ha! That's 23 points of healing for you. Nice. Holy shit. I'm going to take the dodge action. And because I have Heart of Ice activated, it gives me a plus four to my armor class. So I'm at a 20. I'm sitting at 20 now. Nice. Okay. And to keep moving forward as well, hitting people with my spirit guardians.
Speaker: Okay. You're moving forward. Like in the direction of the carriage and the the thing, the way to get out? Guess? Yeah, whichever way. The anyway we're all heading? Towards the wagon. Got it. I'll say you hit another vampire on the way. I escaped 45 feet, guys.
Speaker: And unfortunately, he saves from your guardian, so avoids them. That's okay. I'll forgive him. Okay, great turn. All right, Talira, you are up. How many of the spawn are by Kalden at this point?
Speaker: There are some approaching, but as far as able to hit him, one or two. So he's looking like he's gonna be fairly okay. How many are around the wagon, on the wagon?
Speaker: Two on the wagon that just had to try to attack you, and then one trying to damage it, one trying to attack the horses. Talira is going to shoot at the ones attacking the wagon. Okay, fantastic. From her vantage point, like in the back of it, try to shoot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Give me some rolls.
Speaker: That was an 18 on the die, plus nine. Okay. And that's with holy water, right? And that's with the holy water tipped arrow. Nice, that one immediately just falls to the ground writhing in pain as well is it as it dies.
Speaker: Cool, she's going to attempt to shoot one of the ones attacking the horses now. Okay. 17. Boom, that one falls to the ground as well, dead. How many arrows do I get tipped with the holy water per bonus action? Probably just the two, I'd say. Just the two, okay.
Speaker: Yeah. How many uses of that holy water do I get? How big of a thing was it? Travel sized enough. Yeah, like not very big. he He uses it daily and then goes and gets refills.
Speaker: He probably got ah a couple more dips of some arrows, a couple more bonus actions worth. If he's using it daily and then has to refill it whenever he can to type thing. Right, yeah. Okay, she'll dip one more time then.
Speaker: Okay. Now, since you all have taken out so many of the spawn, specifically Yellen's ancestral guardians really kind of messed a lot of them up, the plans change now. As we are to the vampire's turn, you hear a call ring out through the storm and all the spawn turn their head.
Speaker: As they start to retreat, one does not. as the wagon still speeding along as it had regained speed has entered into the city at this point as you come through the outskirts. And as you as you're coming in, you start to see the light shining off of the puddles that the rain has created of fire reflecting. And you can hear some screams and some shouts as you realize there is a battle here going on from this rift.
Speaker: And one horse has been traveling this whole time, carrying a single vampire as the one with the mustache. He's about 60 feet behind the wagon, coming from the other side in which you guys are approaching, for the record, because you had gone off one side.
Speaker: And you can hear him now over the sound of the whipping wind and rain. If you just give me Lou and our wind rail, I will leave the rest of you alive. Go to hell! You're not getting her! If you leave now, we'll leave you alive. You're not getting either of them.
Speaker: We'll see. He takes his horse's action to be to dash, and he doesn't dash up to the wagon. He goes beside the wagon and continues to try to go further. Maeve, it's your turn.
Speaker: Maeve, we need to get to him. On it. How far away is he from her? You guys were on the other side of the wagon and he just dashed forward. and You guys were approaching the wagon from the other side. So what, 90 feet or so? The wagon's still going as as well as you're running. So headcanon for me, I believe you guys were about 70-ish feet from the wagon. And he just dashed to get next to it and slightly ahead of it. So I'm going to say around 90 100 feet.
Speaker: I'll have to dash the horse. I don't know how that will get me though. If you were to use your horse to dash, that'd give you 120 feet. yeah, I'd say you'd get there. Solid. I'm just going to quickly do my action. I'm going to dash up and attack with my blades. Okay. Give me your attack.
Speaker: I sure wish someone had taken the wooden stake that he had in his bag. Damn. Damn. Okay, first attack is a 25. Does a 25 hit? 25 does hit. Amazing. I'm going to bonus action Divine Smite.
Speaker: Ooh, very nice. Could also use Blade Flourish? I expend a Bardic Inspiration for Defensive Flourish. You can expend one of your Bardic Inspirations and deal extra damage equal to the number you roll on the die. You also add that number to your AC until the start of your next turn.
Speaker: Yeah, I mean, it doesn't require a bonus action or anything, so yeah. All right, can someone keep track of all the numbers I'm saying? Cause I'm don't have it. Seven and six. Seven plus six. Okay. Plus 48, which is 15. that it? 28. Yeah. 28. And plus I get to add that six to my, AC.
Speaker: Nice.
Speaker: What is your AC? So he just took, as you flurced your blade and he took, what was that total, 25? 28. 28 damage. You can see the blade run in and out of his body in several points with the flurce that you just did. In the same motion, he used his reaction to swipe his hand out with his long nails, trying to just barely snip in the arm or something. What is your AC right now? He rolled a 27. 24. As you finish the flourish in your blade, you can feel numbing, paralyzing sensation rip through your arms where he just barely scratched you. And you feel your whole body begin to go limp as you will be paralyzed.
Speaker: Didn't Yellen have us protected from- That was concentration. i am currently concentrating on something else now. Shit. Fuck. Luckily, my horse and I can communicate telepathically.
Speaker: Yep. Is she safely like slumped over the neck or is she going fall off? I'm in a... I will say when movement happens, there's a chance she will fall off if nobody keeps her up there.
Speaker: You can hold her, please. Speaking of which, Kaladin, it is your turn. Yeah. Is he within melee? Yes. Oh yeah. She got within melee range. Okay, cool. Then I'm gonna try and hit him with my souped up dagger.
Speaker: Nice. Twice. Any hit will be a crit because of its holy property against him. Really? it's ah It's a holy weapon. There's no, I don't know of any rules specifically for that dealing with vampires and that is gonna be my ruling. Oh, we've come up with something else before, but I'm fine with this. Did we? I don't remember that, but I i like the idea of that. Okay, so as long as it hits, it's a crit. Yes.
Speaker: That is specifically like sanctified weapons with like holy water, not just like radiant damage in general. Okay. Plus nine, plus nine, plus nine. Okay. 12 plus nine, 21, right?
Speaker: Yeah. 21. Just 21 hit? 21 hits. Oh, thank goodness. And I'm going to roll to see if my second one hits. Okay. 19 plus nine. That's the hit. So it hits.
Speaker: Oh yeah. If it's 19 plus nine. Yeah, that hits. Yeah. Okay. Okay. does Does it count with Moss being there for an ally in melee range or sneak attack?
Speaker: I'm still there. I'm also there. I'm an ally. But paralyzed. You're incapacitated. Yeah, Maeve doesn't count. And also, we're not like flanking him. so We're on the same side. if it rogue... Well, it might be different in 5-5. Never mind. Hold on. I can just read I know in 5-V, if you have an ally in melee range, you get sneak attack.
Speaker: Let me let me read it. You don't need advantage on the roll if at least one of your allies is within five feet of the target. The ally doesn't have the incapacitated condition and you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll.
Speaker: The question is, does Moss count as an ally? Yeah. The spell description explicitly states that the steed is an ally to you and your allies. Fuck yeah. So yes.
Speaker: Get crit sneaker attack. Okay. This is going to be some damage, so give me a second. Okay. That...
Speaker: okay Okay. 44. Holy shit. 44 damage. Good lord. Okay. Wow. Yeah. As you hit him, you manage find home right right under the arm because he's recovering from swiping.
Speaker: You hit him right under the arm, into the armpit, right where ah a on a normal person, a really big artery is. he yelps out in pain, which you've never seen him do. So I stab in and then I rip through.
Speaker: Fuck yeah. Blood just goes everywhere. Love it. You will never hurt Lou again. i get what I want and you know it.
Speaker: Not this time, Lust. You're not getting anyone. Whoever said I wanted you now, yelling it is your turn. I'm gonna ice skate up. I'm ice skating up there.
Speaker: Get you 45 feet in? Yes. How close am I to them with that? At the rate the wagon is going, you're basically keep trying to keep up. Okay. Then I'm going dash and i'm going to cast Mass Healing Word and heal us all.
Speaker: And I'd like to get close enough to hit him with my spirit guardians, but if I can't, I understand. You cannot get that close now. How is he looking, by the way? He, him, he looks like he's taken some damage, but he looks like he can take a lot more.
Speaker: He's looking like maybe a third of his damage of his health has been taken. Rough, rough estimate. All right. You guys have healed Keldon almost all the way back to full. Yes. He's, he's covered in blood, but it is dried.
Speaker: Does the mass healing word also count for Talira as well as she within range? If it hits them, it definitely hits you. Okay, cool. And that, that'll kind of be my turn. So. Talira, bottom of the turn order, finish it out.
Speaker: Delira, Maeve needs help. On it. Yeah, she is going to grab the backpack, chuck it on her as she leaps out of the wagon using a bonus action to go big lady and try to land on the horse.
Speaker: On his horse? On his horse with him on it. Okay, make me ah make me an athletics check. Okay. Okay.
Speaker: 19. 19 to try to land on the horse. Okay. Really it's to knock him off of the horse. Yeah. I would say that that probably succeeds. Let me roll him a dexterity saving throw.
Speaker: God, he rolled he rolled a natural one. Oh my gosh. Yes! As he did not expect you or see you coming. Yeah, he absolutely just gets knocked right off.
Speaker: I would like to try to stab him using the tipped arrow. Okay. As everything's moving quickly, you, cause you just knocked him off while landing on the horse, right?
Speaker: No, no. i was just trying to knock him off the horse. I don't care about the horse at this point. Got it. Okay. Okay. Yeah. I'll allow that. How, how, what kind of attack is that? I'd say the equivalent of a dagger.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Oh my God, that was a 19 on the die. Plus nine to attack, so that's a 28. Yeah, that hits. That definitely hits. Good Lord. It's got the tipped arrow. Yep.
Speaker: So does that count as an auto crit? Ooh, that's not a sanctified weapon because it hasn't been like washed in it every day. It just has holy water on it. It just has holy water. Okay.
Speaker: It's not a holy weapon. What we had originally discussed for the dagger was it gets an additional 1d8 against undead. Yes, I would say that is definitely would it would have but would apply to this Okay, so an additional D8.
Speaker: And this is just a feature. It's not a bonus action or anything. Her fiery shackles come out. While wearing or carrying an object inscribed with the fire rune, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses your proficiency with a tool.
Speaker: In addition, when you hit a creature with an attack as a weapon, you can invoke the rune to summon fiery shackles. Those fiery shackles do an extra 2D6 damage. with DC 17 strength saving throw against being shackled.
Speaker: Nice. Okay. Rolled a 15 on the strength saving throw. Okay, so he fails. He is restrained.
Speaker: 21 damage and he is restrained. Good board. Good shit. That was a lot. Y'all just hammered him. Yep, that's my turn. Fantastic. as As you rip into him, the the fiery shackles light him, doing even more damage. He brunts and you can physically see just the the toll this damage takes on him as Calden sees this. And I mean, this is surprising to see this man in this much pain.
Speaker: He is delighted. As this this bald-headed man looks up at you, Talira, at first he whistles really loud, the same call that had called the spawn away. And then he just hisses at you.
Speaker: I'm just here to deliver a message. Tell Arwenriel he's close. He's so close. And his divine heritage will hold him back no longer. Shut the fuck up.
Speaker: You hear the screaming of more spawn running towards you. Keldon, stake. I reach into the bag and I pull it out. What is the the DC to break out of being restrained by you? 17.
Speaker: You just rolled 22. feel like there are easier ways to deliver a message. You know how he is. He likes to be personal. Well, we certainly got personal today, didn't we? I can cast silver braves. I just have to see him. I'm paralyzed, not blind.
Speaker: Does it require a somatic component? Pretty sure it's just visual, but i have a look. Yeah, it's just visual.
Speaker: He fails. Yes! Yes! Go Maeve! Oh my god! Maeve is just like drooling out of her.
Speaker: Out of her helmet, she's just drooling a little. Just over here, sitting there trying to trying to talk. Just... yeah it Calden's like got his arm around her waist holding her to the seat.
Speaker: She's still kicking ass. I gotta say, this is not how expected this to go. i don't want get I don't want to go through a full turn order because I think we all know what's coming next. Are we skipping mave then and going straight to Calden? Because it would would just be what's next.
Speaker: Yeah, because Maeve can't do shit. With this stake, is this a flat roll or do I get any bonuses? Would ah would this count as like my dagger? Same sort of thing?
Speaker: It will be similar to the dagger. He is restrained, so you'll get advantage. Advantage? Advantage?
Speaker: Yeah. What's my bonus then? I would, it's a stake. I'd consider it the same. It's just like a wooden dagger. So I'd probably just consider it the dagger. Okay. Plus nine.
Speaker: right
Speaker: 15 nine. That hits. I stake him in the heart. I leap off of the horse and land on him so that I'm straddling him.
Speaker: And I raise the stake above my head and I just scream.
Speaker: And stab him. This wooden stake, you've held onto to it for so long, knowing that someday you'd get the chance to use it on these things that tortured you for what seemed like forever.
Speaker: As the stake drives through the flesh of his chest, through the center, piercing his heart, you can feel that give way as the stake drives all the way through and into the ground below.
Speaker: Back where you belong. he
Speaker: You know what will come of you doing this, right? ah
Speaker: You really think this will help off you in the end? He's so close. are you going to stick around and watch what happens? you going to get where you need it to go? I know what comes next for you.
Speaker: and don't need this satisfaction. You were always my favorite game of cat and mouse. The mouse won. i guess it did. Oh, I better turn into a really pretty fucking tree. As he sits there, his eyes close.
Speaker: From the stake in the middle of his heart, you can see the blood soak into the ground and the stake begins to sprout as a little sapling of a tree begins to form in its place. Come on, we don't have time to watch. We need to get to that portal now.
Speaker: Did fall off? fall off the horse?
Speaker: He's just like this this intense scene and oh, you hear his own... I was going to say, just for the hilarity of it, I'm going to say that, yes, all this is said, you just hear the of me falling into the mud.
Speaker: Talera, I need you to pick her up. It's going to last for a while. You got it. The rest of the scene hits you as the storm is still raging, but now you can hear the raging of the fire. The battle cries of those battling the elementals that have come through the rift are surrounding you at this point as the point that you had jumped off. You're not even really all that far from the rift.
Speaker: So you can see some of the people battling. Seems one of them might have known you were coming as one of them turns. Get to it so we can fucking close it! We're doing doing our best. Moss runs to Yellen to get him to jump on because no one's on Moss now.
Speaker: And as Talira picks up Maeve, we all begin sprinting towards the rift. You see a water elemental, you see fire elemental, you see an earth elemental. All of these different elementals all from this one rift.
Speaker: The wagon that you had jumped off with had continued and it stopped right next to the rift. And as you can see through the wind of the storm, you see Lou's head pop through the canvas as it opens, almost as if she could feel something had changed.
Speaker: The threat that she was so worried about is gone. She stands next to the rift as you all run through, as Moss carrying Yellen, Lyra carrying Maeve, Kalden, and Lou on their own two feet, you run through the rift.
Speaker: And as you get to the other side, that is where we're going to stop our Act 1 finale. That was crazy. I didn't expect that at all. I've got i gotta to say, there were a lot of things in that episode I didn't i just i wasn't quite ready for or expected. But you know what, ladies and gentlemen, that's D&D.
Speaker: Yes! That's D&D, baby. That's an actual play. Oh, my God. I love it when we derail the DM. It's my favorite. Yeah, I had to think of my feet hard. I'm not going to lie.
Speaker: That was good. That was really good. I continue to underestimate how you good you guys are in combat. Despite us never doing it. I know. Yeah, I was going to say, despite us not doing much combat and then us forgetting literally everything in our character sheets when we finally do. And then i'm just sitting there like, how the fuck am I going to do that? How the fuck are How the fuck? What what is Talia going to do? How the fuck is she going to do this?
Speaker: And then she did it. And then when I had that spark, I saw Rennie see me when I had that idea. Because you and I like made eyes through a video chat, which is really impressive.
Speaker: It's All right. All right. We got to save some of this ah for our act one review episode that we plan on doing. To the audience, though, guys, thank you so much for sticking around with us for a full act. Not even just a full act, a full year.
Speaker: Yes, thank you yeah so much. Thank you. it's It's been a wild ride. I don't want to speak for the entire cast here as far as thanking the audience. I want to give each of you guys an opportunity.
Speaker: real Just real quick as we finish out the episode. I mean, I do a lot of the intros and outros so often that I feel like you guys don't get to have a moment to to talk to the audience. So just really quick as we finish out this episode, if you want to say anything to the audience who have listened for this long to finish a full act, i want to give each of you guys an opportunity for that.
Speaker: Really, it's just thank you because the feedback that we have gotten has been so overwhelmingly positive. And I'm so happy that you're all enjoying it.
Speaker: And it's like it. it Yeah, I'm just in general, just so happy that we are telling a story that means something to you all. It is genuinely wild to me that.
Speaker: people listen to this. Not because I think it's bad. It's just that a thing that we're creating, putting so much time and passion into, other people are recognizing and enjoying. And it just means the world to all of us.
Speaker: Yeah. And to all of my other friends who also listen in helping our our listen count. Thank you. I don't want to name everybody because that's a lot.
Speaker: I'll put it in the comments because I write the episode descriptions. I can do that. It's just wild how this all started. Absolutely wild. And want to thank everyone for listening. And I'm proud of you guys are all better at at this stuff than I am. So but just thank you.
Speaker: Yeah, learning and building the story and the characters with all of you guys and with everybody listening has really been a treat. It's been a gift. And I'm happy to be here. And I'm also happy that everyone else is here listening and playing and otherwise.
Speaker: Yes. Very nice words, guys. Audience, we'll ah we'll see you back for Act 2. and I'm going to leave it right there at that. We'll see you next time. Peace. Bye.
Speaker: We would like to thank our cast, myself, Curtis Woosley, as the GM, MJ Gunther as Talira Grimstone Echelanathi, Saphira as Maeve Strongheart, Renny Armas as Kalden, and Jack Baldwin as Galen Yakal.
Speaker: Additional thanks to Scentic GFX for our graphics, to MJ and Renny here for our show editing, and our intro and outro music composed by Ryan Moons, owner and operator of Eyes on the Moon Studios.
Speaker: Thank you again for listening to the first season of World of Bayonne. We're so excited that you're here. We are going to be going on a little bit of a posting, not full break, but an extended schedule. For the next three months, we're going to be uploading monthly so we can finish out the three-year gap and have a little wrap up for season one.
Speaker: And then we're going to move into season two. Yes, there will be a season two. Until then, we're so excited to announce our Patreon. We have a couple spinoff shows with Rennie and Jack doing TTRPGs, which are TTRPG horror stories, and Woos and I doing ADHD and D, essentially player versus DM, where we're discussing game mechanics, character creation, all that good stuff. We're also going to be uploading some bonus content.
Speaker: You can check us out there. Again, the first three months are going to be free. And afterward, we hope you stick around. We're going to have a lot of fun stuff there. Thank you again so much for listening. And let's get to that after credit. We've got some good stuff coming up next season.
Speaker: Galette Brassantigua stands in front of the window pane in Piarabakti's office, looking over the city as the storm batters it. I do hope Talira and her group succeed on this mission.
Speaker: I do think they may be good candidates for the group we've been looking for. You see Piar with a sort of surprised look on her face as she starts to rummage through her desk. I must rush off now, as I do believe we may have a lead on our fourth artifact.
Speaker: Keep me updated on any news. Across the plains, through the sky of the primordial plain, and hidden by the shadow of a cliff outcropping, is an entrance to a cavern.
Speaker: And within, we find a decrepit old man with eyes and cheeks sunken in, the skin on his bones barely hanging on and in fact in places already flaking and tearing off.
Speaker: He addresses the other entity in the room. I have a job for you. That young blue tiefling on display.
Speaker: Go have your You're giving me freedom to go play with my favorite toy. ha ha ha ha. In the land of darkness and ice, the home of the Aether Crow, a group of dark ganasi and obsidian kreiflings seem to be arguing.
Speaker: Lorenzo, you bringing that girl here wiped out even more of our able-bodied men. We can't manage more losses like this. We must be more careful in the future. Listen, gentlemen, I understand that there were mistakes made and unfortunate losses, but it was not fruitless.
Speaker: as this dark Ganassi pulls up the box that was stolen from Piara Bhakti's office. Yes, Lorenzo, we know that you stole the artifact, but did you confirm exactly what it is?
Speaker: it is exactly as we hoped. Our preparations can finally begin. We find ourselves in a little grove full of vitality, except for one specific individual.
Speaker: It is a sylvan, a tree that walks alongside civilization, but unfortunately, it looks to be dying. Whoever is worthy, i do hope comes quick.
Speaker: And to end our journey across the world of Aeon, we now stare across the city of Undor. And perched upon one of the hills is one of the most magnificent estates in the city.
Speaker: Sitting within a lavish study at his desk in front of the small flickering flames of the fireplace is a tall man in a suit with black hair and a silver stripe through it.
Speaker: An unusually handsome man, some would say. His butler comes into the room and hands him a note. His eyes flick up to look at the man sitting across from him. I have your next assignment.
Speaker: You see a grin start to come across his face. I continue to underestimate you at every turn. Unfortunately, we'll have to postpone those celebrations until you come home.
