Yeah. So this type of magic falls under counter magic, which is a magic used to counteract or protect against negative energy. And it makes me think about like, when you were a kid, you know, you're like playing on the playground and somebody calls you a name and you were like, I remember you all were a clue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you. Like that's all it made me think of when I was cracking up. Yeah, that's literally what it is. Yeah. Also, like what's funny to me about that is like, you know, we have all these like little sayings and rhymes, but these were probably like,

And I think just in general, whenever you, when we think about a severing and reversal magic, especially with like cord cutting and stuff, people often view it as a type of painful magic, which I guess, you know, it could be.

So like I kept seeing it come up as, like it came up as three different things. So it was like counter magic, baneful, and then sympathetic magic in all of the research I was doing. And so it was like three different like categories across all the research, but like those were consistent across all the research too. You know, it said this, but it also said this. And like, we kind of go back and forth until we come down to like a conclusion of what we're going to use or how we're going to word things. But with this one, it was very consistent that it was these three, like depending on like whether it was how it was done or like the type of like spell you use to do it. And then as far as unbinding, which is another form of cutting ties, you can perform unbinding spells to release you from old habits, people, places, or things that are keeping you stuck from living your best life. Unbinding spells removes negativity and it also helps you make positive changes in your life.

So say if you are or you're interested in reversal spells and you don't know much about it, a good way to think about reversal spells, you know, is all magic requires energy. And for reversal spells, like it's literally what Tiffany said earlier about I'm rubber your glue. We are literally taking someone else's spell and sending it back to the person who sent it. So you are taking that energy that they have released on you and reversing it to its source. It's not hexing. This is basically a return to sender spell.

So make sure you're doing your own research and abiding by your own ethics and values. You know, don't try and cast a spell like say if you are in love or an infatuation with somebody and they are married. Do not try and cast a cord cutting spell on behalf of this person you're infatuated with that they will leave their spells. That is fucked up. Don't do it.

So moving into some methods for severing bonds, unbinding, and reversal magic, we'll start with cord cutting. As I said at the beginning of the episode, all I really knew about the cord cutting spells were the ones that you see on Instagram all the time that are these really pretty

Like what if it doesn't, like what if the candle goes out or what if, you know, it doesn't actually catch the cord umpire when it gets down to that low, like maybe the cord falls or something. So they would use knives or they would have like magical scissors that they only used for practices like this. So in traditional coordinating, you would start by removing the person from your life

And like now in like a modern setting, you would also like be blocking them on your social media as your phones, emails, like go completely no contact basically. So once you've done this, you would clean and cleanse your space, center and ground, and then even shield yourself. You would use items that have a tie to that person.

that you're trying to cut ties with. Maybe something they've gifted you, it could be a photo, anything like that. You would tie those two items together and then you would use a knife or magical scissors or whatever it is that you're using for this particular spell and you would cut the cord that tied them together to like separate them. And this would symbolize that separation. So once this cutting is complete, you would close your space per your own traditions and practice and then

And if they like keep bringing them up, just leave that situation essentially. The traditional way falls more in line with like a cord cutting spell. So you could simplify this too, by just like taking a slip of paper, writing your name on one end, writing their name on the other, and then like cutting the paper in half, separating you two.

How to Choose and Use Candles for Magic?

You know, I don't know. I feel like I, I'm like, I could see where the people are coming from where they're like, absolutely not. Don't use candles. That leaves everything to chance and takes your power away. But I can also see like where you might want to do the candle versus like cutting. I don't know.

Yeah, I think it's just it's personal preference, right? So whichever whichever method you

align more with than the method that you want to do. And if you are wanting to do the candle method, when it comes to the candles, you know, are all candles created equal in an accord-cutting spell? And the answer is yes and no. It just depends, like, with everything. Yeah, it's a great area. So, I mean, white candles are the easiest and most multipurpose of all candles. So if you only have access to, like, white pillar dollar tree candles, just use those. Like, it doesn't matter.

You could also do one white candle and one black candle and have the black candle represent the release and banishing of the emotional ties and connection. That would be a really great way to visualize that. But what you'll want to do is make sure that you have pillar candles.

And so, and to make it more personal, you will want to take a small pen, needle, toothpick, whatever you have and carve your name into the white candle. And if you are using like a different colored candle to represent the emotional ties and that connection that you're wanting to banish, then you will carve their name into the black candle or the other colored candle that you're using.

candle. And so if your flame is tall and strong, this means that your magic is working. If it's a low flame, it could indicate that you need to do more work to sever the cord with that person. If the flame is short and weak, it might be indicating that your timing is off. If it's a steady flame, that's a positive sign.

blue flames could suggest that a spirit is near or like your spirit guides might be there working the cord cutting with you. Dancing flames indicate that the magic will work but there's some resistance and if your flame is like popping and crackling it could signify resistance as well.

And so there is an oil that you can create, and I have a recipe for it, a severing oil that I got from Eli Rowe. And they're from the podcast, The Middle Age Witch. And

They have a great recipe for a severing Thai's oil. And again, this is going to make the spell more powerful and more personal. So what you'll need is two ounces of a carrier oil, such as olive oil, coconut oil, vegetable oil, or mineral oil. And you want to take whatever oil you're using and put it in a saucepan and add some of the following herbs, like whatever you have on hand or whatever jumps out to you or speaks to you. So don't go out and feel the need to buy all of these. Like you could just literally use one of these.

and it'd be fine. Some of the herbs that they list are juniper, pine, holly, basil, violet, yarrow, pepper, cloves, cumin, comfrey, fern, garlic, peppermint, rosemary, nettle, nutmeg, and sandalwood. And you'll want to heat the oil on very low for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. And then you'll strain the plant material out and place your oil in a small jar or like a little vial or something to use whenever you're wanting to perform any sort of banishing, severing, or reversal magic.

When you strain your plant matter out, you can return it to the earth. It's great for your like gardens, put it back in your soil. Yes. And also just a note, don't bring your oil to a boil. You want to like keep that on a low, low, low, like warming heat.

So I also came across this three-day unbinding ritual which I thought was amazing and I really like it because you know it can be used to remove negativity, help break bad habits, and remove people, places, and things from your life that are just no longer serving you. And this unbinding ritual came from the art of the root and they're linked in our

resources for this episode but the first day what you're going to do is do a cleansing bath and so you will create like an infusion of water that includes basil, lemon, peel, rosemary, angelica, and mint and you'll want to use purified water for this and you're going to simmer it for about five to seven minutes. After simmering remove the plant material and discard them back in your garden I guess again.

um and then you'll want to add do this you know obviously before you add the salt because then once you remove the plant material add about a tablespoon of kosher salt to the infused water and then at sundown what you're going to do is you're going to take two votive candles and the art of the root recommends two black votive candles but again

And as you're doing it, you're going to imagine washing away any negative attention

The next second day, so the next day of this ritual because it's a three-day ritual is the candle ritual and for this you're going to take a large candle and

What you're going to want to do is write down a situation you want to be unbound from. So whatever it is that you're wanting to release, write it down and then fold the paper away from you in half, visualizing, pushing the energy away from you. And then you're going to fold it again, of course, away from you the second time. And then

Once you're done folding it, you're going to put it underneath the candle and then you'll light the candle and speak your intention. And once the candle is completely burnt out, which could take like a couple of days, you're going to take the remnants and either put it in running water or leave it at a crossroads. Now, whenever I read this and it said to put the remnants in running water, I honestly like if it's the plant matter. Yes. Okay. I could definitely see that.

So for this, you would need a freezer, a piece of paper and a red pen. And they didn't say why red. I don't know like what the significance was for the red pen here, but they specified red. So it's in my notes. Black pepper for binding water and a small container to freeze everything in. So basically you write the original intention of the spell on one side of the paper and on the other side of the paper, you write the target.
