World Cup Final Controversies

Speaker
So it's a France Argentina World Cup final, but there's been quite a bit of talk online, especially about how Argentina are being favored by the referees. So what do you think about that, Carlo? Do you agree?
00:00:27
Speaker
Well, it doesn't surprise me. I mean, everybody wants Lionel Messi to win the World Cup, don't they? So, you know, if you're going to give Argentina four penalties, well, why not? I mean, they've had the joint most amount of penalties in this World Cup than any team in the history of World Cup tournaments. They've had four penalties. Two of them have been scandalous. I thought the penalty that they got against Croatia

in the semi-final as well. I thought that was a 50-50 call and I believe that a penalty should never be given when it's 50-50.

Messi's Ambitions and Referee Decisions

Speaker
It should always be 80-20 because the reward is so big and we saw that. They went on to win the game after that. I think that they have had some of the decisions go for them.

And yeah, I mean, everybody wants to see Messi win, don't they?

Mourinho's Potential Move to Portugal

00:01:18
Speaker
Mourinho though, Jose Mourinho, he's been heavily linked now with the Portugal national team job. Do you think that this is a good move for Mourinho? And do you think it's a good move for Portugal? I think it's a great move for Portugal. I think he's the most decorated active Portuguese coach. He's probably one of the best Portuguese coaches, if not the best of all time.

I do, however, have question marks about what this could do because in terms of Roma and Portugal, I don't want him to combine that. I think it would be unfair on both the club and the national team. I want him to choose one. But I think the issue here for Mourinho is that we all know that he's still gunning for a big club job like a PSG, like a Real Madrid. If he were to take Portugal,

then that would be the end of his club career at the highest level. And I'm not too sure if he's ready to give that up just quite yet.
