Speaker: What is up, shaping nation? This is Nick Torres. And on this episode of Shaping Your Pottery, I'm going to be talking about something that you can do to help you start changing the way your pottery looks like.
Speaker: So a while back, maybe about a couple years ago, I was taking this course by Dan Kennedy. And for those that don't know who Dan Kennedy is, he's basically a mark, somebody that is super good at marketing, where he teaches people how to market, small businesses, and he just that's what he does. And I was taking one of his courses. And during the course,
Speaker: One of the things that he was talking about was that an easy way to sell products is by doing it based on holidays. So, for example, let's say you have candles.
Speaker: you make candles and each holiday is gonna be a different candle scent. So let's say for Christmas, it's gonna be like pine trees or Christmas tree type of scent or maybe for like 4th July, it's gonna be maybe have a smell of wood or like that woodsy field. And basically the way he was saying it is that
Speaker: People want a little bit of variety in their life. And the customers and both the customers and the owners, they want variety, right? We all want variety in our life. But sometimes it's hard to actually start changing things up. So a super simple, easy way to do that is to make pottery based on the season or the holiday that you are currently in.
Speaker: whatever holidays that you are in or that you're maybe into, you can change up your pottery that much easier by doing it based on the holiday or season. So let's give me give you another example here. So let's say you are I know a lot of people really like Halloween. My personal favorite, a lot of people like Halloween. And what they do is they start making limited edition Halloween like pottery.
Speaker: And that is such a super creative way because now your creative juices can start flowing and you are just going to be able to get out of that mold, get out of that rut that you normally make it.
Speaker: And that is a super, super simple way to change up your pottery. So do it based on the season or the holiday. Another thing that you can do during this is to write out different ways how you can change your pottery during the season. So let's say, again, for Halloween, take out a piece of paper and write down all the different ways you can incorporate some Halloween themed stuff into your pottery.
Speaker: Whatever that may be, maybe it's adding some black cats into your pottery. Maybe it's adding some certain sgraffito designs into your pottery. Maybe it's adding pumpkin, right? Whatever it is, write down those things to make it a little bit easier for yourself so you're not sitting there just thinking what you can do. And it becomes so much easier to change up your pottery if you do it based by season or by the holiday.
Speaker: And that is so, so simple if you want to start changing up your pottery. Another good holiday is Christmas. A lot of people like Christmas. So you could start making some Christmas trees. Maybe you could start making some Christmas trees on some mug. Use some red and green things.
Speaker: And you could put your own spin on these things, right? You don't have to do the same to everybody else. You can put your own spin on it. So maybe your Christmas is very, very specific. So maybe you have a very white and maybe blue Christmas instead of green and red. And so for your Christmas theme pottery, what you're going to do maybe is
Speaker: You have white and blue and instead of doing green trees, you could do green blue, blue, light blue trees or white trees, whatever it is.
Speaker: and put your own spin on these things, because they don't have to be the same as everybody else, because a lot of people are probably tend to do this. They tend to make based on the holiday, especially around Halloween to to Christmas area. That is very, very popular. And a lot of people like to change up the party. But if you do it more throughout the year, we're like each holiday or each thing that is meaningful for you and change up that based on that, you're never going to get really bored. You can even do
Speaker: freaking star wars if you want to so like may the fourth be with you if you want to do that you can do that just have a limited edition star wars theme merch drop whatever and put your own spin on it it is so simple to change up your pottery if you do it by simply going based off the holiday or by the season i hope you guys enjoyed this episode and i'll see you guys in the next one
