Baker Plbg: Okay, quick dive into this crazy Alberta. Separation referendum thing. that It's a hot topic here in Alberta and in Canada. particularly with the dilution of the trade talks between Ottawa in the States.
Baker Plbg: I don't understand why it's... People are so angry I've said very little about it. I've been called a traitor and I'll move to the States. which is just People trying to shut down the conversation before it even begins.
Baker Plbg: um It's interesting to me that there are lots of countries that have referendums all the time. Italy, Ireland, Australia. Um, swizer Switzerland just had one. on whether to keep whether cash was constitutionally protected.
Baker Plbg: And apparently they decided that it was. Uh, Cash is freedom. And they had a referendum on it. They had one on. individual taxation which is you know because it's politics it's way too deep to get into this in 30 seconds they did have one which i found was interesting on june 14th of no to 10 million they're trying to keep their population under 10 they're basically trying to reduce Um,
Baker Plbg: Immigration. Um, of Permanent citizens. And that one. was... Denied so they're gonna they're not gonna limit their immigration But that one barely passed.
Baker Plbg: Um, The interesting thing about life is much of... The world. thinks differently than you. And no matter what you think somebody has an opposite opposite opinion. I don't know when that became vilifiable.
Baker Plbg: Uh...
Baker Plbg: That's how ideas, that's how... uh, uh, come together is when you have a clash of ideas and there's some compromise that goes on to make things work.
Baker Plbg: Um, and and My experience with government is that there's little compromise. Do what we say or you will be punished. Anyway. um I think it's a wonderful thing.
Baker Plbg: that that We can have those votes. And you can, you know. The moan. The fact that voting is useless or I don't know what.
Baker Plbg: um Like. Are we just not supposed to have them? Are we just supposed to turn this thing into a dictatorship or a kingdom or whatever? An empire? Where, uh... one dude gets to decide what's right for all of us.
Baker Plbg: i do I do understand the flaws in the voting system. Um... But it's I think they're vitally important to have it. And if you don't, and if you think that this is dumb.
Baker Plbg: then I think you're dumb. Like that doesn't make any sense to me. Why cannot why can't we? We spend millions of dollars on the dumbest shit in the world, and people are like, oh, it costs so much money.
Baker Plbg: Everything costs money. Everything. does. And I think the the most fundamental right we have.
Baker Plbg: is to voice our opinions. and say what we think. And frankly, that's what this entire stupid setup is is me saying exactly my opinion and what I think and there are lots of people that agree with me and there's lots of people that disagree with me.
Baker Plbg: There are very few that are willing to engage in the conversation when they disagree. I'm like, okay, you disagree? Let's chat about it. Silence. Or do you have a different opinion? Okay, let's chat about it. Silence.
Baker Plbg: That is something that we need to work on. as a society is that we need to be willing to have difficult conversations with people that don't agree with us. Or... We just...
