Speaker: What is up, JP Nation? This is Nick Torres here. And on today's episode, I'm gonna be talking about the number one thing that is stopping you from being able to find your own unique voice. And we have all been through this. Every single part of it has been through this. No matter what stage they're at, they have all been through it. And the number one thing that is keeping you from finding your voice is this thing in between your ears. It's called a brain. And you know, you see, this brain is really amazing.
Speaker: It can help us achieve great greatness in our life. And many things have happened because of our brain. Evolution has happened because of our brain. Buildings have been made because of our brain. Our brain can also be our worst enemy as well. This is the number one thing that prevents us from ever finding our voice. And that is not believing in our own pottery, not believing in our own self.
Speaker: because the first and foremost, in order to find your voice, you have to like the part that you are making. And I know it's very easy to start comparing yourself to other potters where you are looking at other potters on social media and you see them and you're like, well, I can't make what they're making and it's very dramatic and I can't make what they're making and I feel bad about myself or they're already doing it and I don't wanna copy them.
Speaker: You see, that right there, those few words, I bet you have said them to yourself, maybe once, maybe twice, maybe a dozen times. You've probably said it to yourself a lot, but you probably don't realize that it's actually hurting you. This thing in between your ears, this brain, it can make or break finding your own pottery voice. You have to believe in yourself first, you have to believe in your own pottery first,
Speaker: order to actually find your part of voice because you may be making something right now and you might just be keep telling yourself that oh it looks like somebody else's it looks like so -and -so's pottery it looks like you know that really famous potter out there and it doesn't look like my work but you keep telling yourself these and it's gonna actually prevent you from finding your voice you need to get out of your own head and start believing in your own pottery
Speaker: Keep making pottery to build that confidence in it, to build that confidence in yourself, you know. Everything takes a little bit of time to build that confidence. But the more confidence you can have in your own self, in your own pottery, that's when your voice truly starts showing up. It's not about what, how it looks to other people, it's about how it looks to you. If you like the pottery you're making, then you already pretty much have found your voice.
Speaker: It doesn't matter what other people are thinking, what matters is what you think. Stop giving a shit about what other people think and start giving a shit about what you think about your pottery. Because this is the biggest thing that's keeping you from finding your voice. This brain. You gotta master it. If you think you are making crappy pottery, you're probably making crappy pottery. If you think you are making good pottery, your pottery is gonna be that much better.
Speaker: and always seek to be improving your pottery as well because that's also a mindset thing. If you stay satisfied with the pottery you're at, then you're never going to improve your pottery. You're never going to be able to add on to your voice, which is crucial to preventing burnout. If you can add on to your pottery voice, then that's going to help so much. Master this thing in between your ears and your pottery voice will start showing up. I hope you guys enjoyed this episode and I'll see you guys in the next one.
