Meet the Hosts: Eberron Renewed

your game is rolling.
00:01:19

Hello and welcome to Eberron Renewed, an actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Randy. I'm Trevor. And I'm Jeff. And

The Plan for Tarvel's Wife: A Mission Briefing

00:01:31
Speaker
welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time? Tarvel set us on a job.
00:01:42
Speaker
He needs parts to be able to continue sending food to his wife in jail. The Dreadhold. Better food, I think. Like, and stuff. He also communicates with her on how to run the peer labs. No, yes, it's much more because he needs her knowledge, yes. I like to be reductive. This is not new.
00:02:12
Speaker
And yeah, he told, I mean, he knew where the part was. He knew what he needed. He just did not know how to get it. And so he called upon us to do that for him. They smuggle, they do not steal. He called upon Satan who sent Viggo to call upon us. It's a very circuitous path to asking us for a favor. Look, if you don't follow the org chart, why do we even have it? And why did he call on us?
00:02:40
Speaker
Because Satan trusts us. But he does not trust Satan, but he trusts Satan's judgment, so. That's correct. Anyway,

Preparation for the Heist: Strategy and Challenges

00:02:53
Speaker
so yeah, you all did some prep work for the job. Eris made some portable holes. Hobb staked out the security detail. Raynard found out about the layout of the building, and Milo,
00:03:10
Speaker
What he made sure that the blueprints he kind of got a description of the tiefling. Yeah, he found out she was a tiefling and she would not be there during the height because Milo felt a little intimidated when he found out that she was supposed to be rather formidable. Yes. So, yes, she has an engagement that night, so she won't be working late or anything like that.
00:03:41
Speaker
So yeah, that's what we found out. I wrote her name down somewhere, but who knows where that is? Adelaide Parr.
00:03:51
Speaker
So, okay. And thank you to one of our patrons and Discord mods, Liz, for coming up with that name. So yeah, we are picking up essentially where we left off. You all have done your prep work. So what's the plan for, I guess, launching the job? Are you all going to,
00:04:19
Speaker
wait until the dead of night, wait until just after closing hours, what's the plan? I mean, Hob would've gotten a time those four big dudes show up, right? And we just need to decide if we're gonna do it before or after that? Yeah. Okay. Well. What was that time? Was that the dead of night or right as the closing? It's closing time, yeah, because they stay over there, they stay there overnight and then leave in the morning.
00:04:53
Speaker
So, um, yeah. Sounds like it doesn't, it sounds like it doesn't make a great deal of difference. If, if they're there from close to morning, then it sounds like it's sort of, yeah, they will be there. Um, yeah. So I guess at a time of night where.
00:05:15
Speaker
more unlikely to be interrupted by people who aren't inside the building, I guess. So probably late at night. Yeah. We, we'd have an idea of the ebb and flow of like pedestrians in that part of town. Yeah. And it's like I said, commercial district. So, uh, if it's not operating business hours, then it does start to die down. There are restaurants and taverns and things like that for the, the young sharn professional, uh, to go socialize. Uh, so, you know, the, the later at night, probably after about
00:05:45
Speaker
Um, well, the bars close it too. So, um, they're supposed to anyway, but you know, it is sharn. So anyway, yeah, the later, later, the better later would be more dead up until early, early morning when the joggers then start going out and about.

Execution of the Plan: Infiltration and Combat

00:06:06
Speaker
Um, wow. Let's do it then.
00:06:14
Speaker
with the joggers. Pre joggers, Eric. God. Listen. Okay. Yeah. Let's call it like the, the, like the, that 3 AM feeling is when we're going. Okay. So what's the plan of approach? Um,
00:06:38
Speaker
Did anyone work out from the layout where the best point of entry to get close to that to the storage rooms would be? Did we get that information? There is a loading dock leading straight into the storage room and then a front door leading into the little office area and a drainage system leading up into the main storage area as well.
00:07:05
Speaker
Okay, it's not that I don't see the efficacy of the drainage system. I just don't want to get into the drainage. I don't understand what you're not getting about this. Or jumping in media rasp. I know. It's in, you know, in all the stories about this kind of break-in thing, you always go in through the sewer.
00:07:28
Speaker
I'm only up for that if Hob will let me ride on his shoulders. I'm too little to be walking through the sewers. And that's... Well, we shall call that the nail in such a cotton. I'm just waiting for a good reason not to go through the loading dock.
00:07:51
Speaker
I mean, maybe it's just over complicated, but is there, do we know what's, do we know what's above the loading dock? Cause if, you know, if there's another office above and it's got less intense security, we could go in, put down one of my points of, points of ingress and drop through the ceiling. Well, Phillip, would you like to flip a story point to declare that there is a less secure office stacked on top?
00:08:21
Speaker
Yeah, there's a there's a private accountancy firm above above this this artist. It's it's like
00:08:37
Speaker
It's the old firm and the landlord would love to turn their office into like classy loft apartments for the up and coming of Sean's professional class. They've just been there forever and you can't get rid of them.
00:08:59
Speaker
And they're they're dwarves or some other long lived species. So that exacerbates the thing from the from the landlord's perspective. Yeah. Yeah. The the old landlord made some sort of ridiculous deal with them on their lease. So they're. Yeah. They're stuck in there. It's like the it's like the Guinness Brewery had like a thousand year lease for 10 bucks or something like that.
00:09:25
Speaker
Yeah. I love it. And as far as security, he's saying things like, oh, I opened this place 120 years ago. I didn't even need a lock on the door. If you think I'm going to hire a guard now. He keeps really, really short hours now in his, in his old age. So he's only, he's only there from. Can I play as this guy?
00:09:50
Speaker
I want to turn I want to turn it this guy's a rich life open it open it 11 close at three Business hours. There you go. Would my I take I take an hour I think Randy's trying to do something productive. That's not welcome here Would Milo Milo would like to try to look at the layout and
00:10:17
Speaker
to see if he can figure out where like the security is apt to be. Like, you know, if like, okay, they would probably really be interested in guarding this spot or that spot. I mean, they may be walking around, who knows, but just to try to get an idea of where security may be important to the building.
00:10:44
Speaker
Okay. In terms of a check for that, knowing securities pattern in the building.
00:10:59
Speaker
So you wanting to try to look at like a layout of the building to determine what would be most likely? Yeah, where they most likely would be and which would also inform us where they would not be. Like, OK, they're not going to be patrolling this area because there's probably nothing important there. OK. Hmm.
00:11:24
Speaker
Give me a perception check. Hard difficulty, because this isn't an easy thing to decipher from. And why not? I'm gonna flip a story point, turn one of those purples into a red. Use the wrong one. So that's one red and two purple. Yes. I'm not gonna waste a story point on this, just see if we get lucky.
00:11:54
Speaker
One success, four threats. It is a lot of threat. So you can tell that typically being a four person team that you're gonna have one security guard at the front door
00:12:18
Speaker
One at the loading dock and then two more patrolling would be standard operation for a building this size. Just so, you know, the obvious points of entrance are covered, but they're also having people move about just in case somebody somehow gets in through another means.
00:12:40
Speaker
Uh, but it is a small enough building to where there wouldn't even need to be magical implementation for communication. It's a big warehouse. So, uh, one of them goes, Hey, over here that everybody's going to hear it. So, obvious points of entry and to patrolling.
00:12:58
Speaker
And the other thing that you found out due to the threat is one of the security guards
00:13:17
Speaker
We'll say that you also found out which security firm was hired for this, and they are noted for having on every team at least one semi-powerful magic wielder. That is the result of your threat. Okay. Milo saw a little small little footnote. Yeah. Good information to know, but threatening.
00:13:46
Speaker
Okay. Anything else anybody wants to do before the night falls? Let's go. Okay. So you all approach the Philip, what's the name of this accountant? Obviously, this is the stone knuckle accountancy firm. Okay, okay.
00:14:21
Speaker
So you're approaching the stone knuckle accountancy firm and
00:14:30
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, Eris, you see, the landlord clearly said, listen, you have to have a lock on the door. I don't care what it is. For insurance purposes, I need you to put a lock on the door. One of those little hooks, hook and eye hole, latches on the outside. No, he's not done.
00:14:56
Speaker
No, I was thinking of that as like defiance. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Keep everyone in. Rayna, do you think you can handle this one?
00:15:09
Speaker
Yes, I have broken into a garden shed before. Okay, so this is going to be an easy... So did we just walk into the front of the building but go up the stairs? Because it seems that we've all accumulated in front of this accountant's office. I'm fine with that. I assumed... Go ahead. Good.
00:15:28
Speaker
I assumed Aeris was going to try to make us all climb through windows again. It seems to be her thing. So we went to the second floor. But if the if the normal, legitimate point of ingress is not walking right in front of the person that we are trying to avoid, then I imagine Aeris probably tried very hard to talk you all into going through windows and was eventually reluctantly convinced that fine, go through the stairs.
00:16:03
Speaker
Um, easy skullduggery for whoever would like to, Reynard. Yeah, I've got skullduggery. Easy as two. One purple. One purple. Cause it's easy.
00:16:24
Speaker
to success and they try it. You're able to just with your tools kind of just barely touch them and the lot pops open. And that woman gets a freaking Thanksgiving feast because of us.
00:16:46
Speaker
triumph gang are one of our one of our classic early session triumphs that we're always so good about knowing what to do with. I mean, you're obviously on the job.
00:17:01
Speaker
I was going to say that more beefy guy we just learned about is taking a nap. He's on his 15th. Or a lunch break or something. Yeah. You're not removing him from the scene. I know.
00:17:20
Speaker
He's got a really bad head cold today, and the verbal components of all his magic spells are garbled because he's so congested. Or could I... No, I don't know if I could do that. I was gonna say, could I use it to cure one of Milo's critical injuries? I would allow that. I'd allow it. He still has two. Yeah. If the group is good with that. I mean, I don't...
00:17:50
Speaker
I'm not that concerned about them at this point. You never are. Army crawling across the ground. I'm fine either way. Yeah, your head's smoking too. There's plenty of stuff you are not concerned about right now that the rest of us are. It's up to you guys. I'm fine either way.
00:18:14
Speaker
I will, the two suggestions outside of healing Milo of taking a nap. I will say that for the first round of combat, this person has to take the last initiative slot available to them to represent them not being at all ready.
00:18:31
Speaker
uh for the combat to pop off because they were dozing off or uh the the congestion thing of you know the first the first spell that they attempt to cast they have two setback dyes as they clear their their their windpipe and sinuses um if we want to go with either of those options that's how they would manifest mechanically
00:18:54
Speaker
Is there a way to avoid fighting them at all? Okay, then I would rather not use it on him just in case we don't have to fight them, okay? Or maybe the triumph is we don't have to fight them. You can't do that. I don't want to do that. It's like three triumphs. The triumph is yours Trevor. I'm good with whatever.
00:19:24
Speaker
I feel like it's going to get harder and harder for Milo to get rid of these critical injuries. Okay. Milo, heal thyself. Okay. So the door pops open and you are met with the smell of old furnishings and carpet, fair amount of dust.
00:19:53
Speaker
Clearly, this dwarf believes in the quality of his work to draw in customers and not any level of aesthetics to how pleasant his office is to be in.
00:20:06
Speaker
Based on the layout that you all saw, you know that basically going back into his office, there are no more locks in the, there's no more doors, it's just open. Back in his office, right in front of his desk, Eris, if you were to drop one of your portable holes, that would drop you into the back of the warehouse, kind of away from the loading dock, door, and away from the office. Okay.
00:20:34
Speaker
Eris goes back into the room, looks at the layout for a minute and then goes over into the middle of the floor and takes out a little box which opens and pulls out four small
00:20:55
Speaker
metal discs that have some dragon shards studded around them and places them in a square, roughly, and then steps back and there's this sort of sound and the image of the floor sort of ripples and then goes transparent.
00:21:26
Speaker
I'm very disappointed because in my head, portable holes always look like the Who Framed Roger Rabbit floppy, just black circle that you flip onto a surface and then it just... Oh,

Unexpected Twists: Teleportation Mishap

00:21:38
Speaker
well then Hob walks up with a big floppy circle. Yeah, you made it look so much cooler. But yeah, just in my brain, it's always like reaching in my bag and just flap.
00:21:48
Speaker
He says, Eris, don't be such a tryhard. Slaps his circle down on the ground. OK, so who's so as the floor becomes transparent, you see racks throughout this warehouse creating aisles that have split into two distinct sections of these battery as casings that are clearly look like the one that Tarvel has that do not have a charge.
00:22:17
Speaker
And then a less significant amount that are currently charged and ready to go. So that's, um, that's what you see is that basically probably not enough for a full loadout. It seems like maybe she waits until she has X amount and then ships them all out at once. And so working on building up her stock currently. So, uh, how far up are we?
00:22:46
Speaker
The warehouse ceiling is let's say 16 feet tall. So 16 foot drop down to the floor and the racks go up 13 feet. So if you were to hop down on the top shelf of a rack, that would be less jump. In fact, you would have to like slide into it. That is what Milo will do.
00:23:16
Speaker
Okay, so Milo slides down onto the top shelf of the rack. Milo, since you're the first one there, if you want to give me a perception check to get a lay of the land as you scooch onto this top shelf, it's going to be average difficulty with two setback die for darkness. It's dark in here. The lights are off. Two purple and two black.
00:23:50
Speaker
One failure, three advantage. So your eyes have not adjusted. Also, despite his landlord who included utilities in the rent, the dwarf leaves all lighting implements going throughout the night. So yeah, your eyes are not adjusted as you drop down onto the shelf. So you don't see what's going on, but you do have three advantages. Hmm.
00:24:26
Speaker
No, I was about to say, you know where the guard is in here, but that would be the success on the perception check, so that's it. I would like to use my advantage to say, what if I succeeded? Can't see anything. How about I could use it to,
00:24:51
Speaker
Find a, since I'm on a shelf, navigate to a spot on the shelf where I get a good view of the surroundings. If I'm able to, if my eyes do happen to adjust the darkness. So essentially giving yourself a boost on your next perception check.
00:25:18
Speaker
That's not enough for three advantage though, is it? A targeted boost on yourself is typically around three advantage territory, if that's what you want. Since passing a boost, you don't have any control over what that is. Well, I was thinking more like a good perch to see
00:25:41
Speaker
a lot of the layout to try to scope out a guard, kind of like as a lookout, a good spot to be a lookout. Not necessarily that I get a boost to see anything, but this would be a good place to try to see something. But how would that manifest mechanically, then, if not with a positive effect? If you're just going to let me find if you're just going to let me find a good perch, then it doesn't, I guess.
00:26:13
Speaker
Cause that's what I was trying to do is take that and like say, okay, mechanically, here's what, okay. Well, let's, let's do that. Unless somebody else has something better. The shelf you're on has the already charged up cylinders on it. Um, so there's just, there's charged one right there. I, we can just grab it and go. That's not necessarily what I meant, but Eric said they were like on one side of the room.
00:26:40
Speaker
there were used up ones on one side of the room, there were fresh ones. And I was saying we've, we've lucked into the right side of the room. Oh, there you go. Yes, that there's, there's none on the top shelf where Milo is because obviously he would have kicked them everywhere. But yes, you are on the right side of the room. I like that. Yes, let's do that. Okay. So Milo's in there.
00:27:06
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, Hobb just extends his arms and drops to the floor as he does and then waits to see if anybody else needs catching and then realizes Hobb, Milo's already come in and it's like, all right, well, I guess. Okay. What is your stealth, Hobb?
00:27:25
Speaker
Well, it's not great because those sandals just slap right on the ground. Hang on.

Conclusion and Community Engagement

00:27:34
Speaker
Sorry, this is- There's a lot of flop to your flip. That's slow operating today. Well done, Trevor. Well done. Thank you. Too green. Too green? That is all.
00:27:53
Speaker
then I'm going to do a perception check with a two purple difficulty. Gotcha. Two failures, one advantage. So you're not spotted, but they are going to pass a boost. Okay. So Hob and Milo are in the room. Aeris, Raynard, how are you all entering?
00:28:25
Speaker
I guess the same way. Okay. I'll just have that role be for your all's entrance in general, not, um, Eris, are you entering the room? Yeah. Um, Eris, once everybody else is through the, is through the hole, Eris, uh, will slide down through the hole, uh, holding on with her hands on the, the edge. Um,
00:28:51
Speaker
and get her boots against the ceiling on the other side. And then once she's through, she holds her gauntlet up to the hole. And the four discs fly down through the hole and like clink into her gauntlet. And the hole just closes behind us. Text them away. Okay.
00:29:20
Speaker
So you all are in the room. You see the faint green glow of the charged batteries down below you. Eris and Milo, Reynard, Hob, you are on the floor. You see them there. There are a not insignificant amount of them. Everyone give me perception checks. Eris, I would just like to say that hole is absolutely amazing. Thank you. It is.
00:29:51
Speaker
And for the perception check, it is two purple average. Randy, don't forget to remove one of Myla's crits. I did, I thought.
00:30:08
Speaker
Okay. Rainard and Hob being down on the ground floor. Um, you're, you hear footsteps beginning to approach to around the corner to head down, uh, your aisle, um, as, as a guard on patrol is walking around. Um, now Hob with your two threats. Um, let's just, uh, add a, add a setback die to your next check.
00:30:38
Speaker
if you wanna note that. Reynard take a point of strain as kind of stressful, like where am I gonna go? We have a total of seven advantages between Milo and Eris who are up above and not aware of what's going on down there. So you all can pull them together if you like for something huge or individually do still some pretty significant stuff with four and three.
00:31:06
Speaker
Any thoughts? Well, I was thinking of passing some stealth boosts. Okay. Particularly to Hobb. I don't necessarily know if Hobb is bad at stealth, but it strikes me as the person who's more likely to be bad at stealth.
00:31:29
Speaker
He's only got two green. Okay. So yeah, he's not, not, not good. So, um, so do you just want to, uh, use all four advantage for boost? So I will give as many of them as are useful to give, uh, give some stealth boosts. Okay. Um, let's say you can give them two. Okay. Um,
00:31:54
Speaker
Uh, with four saying that, I mean, I guess I could just flip story point, but, but you've got the four advantage. So, you know, yeah, that's true. Um, there's like a space, a nice space between the shelving. That would be a good hiding spot if they needed to like duck in some somewhere.
00:32:26
Speaker
Okay. Lessening the difficulty of the stealth check. Yeah. Since there's a place nearby. Sure.
00:32:36
Speaker
Hob, you have been granted to boost die to a stealth check to attempt to hide from this guard that's about to patrol by. And there is an easily accessible hiding spot, a gap in the aisles that both of you could take advantage of at a reduced difficulty for the stealth check. So if you all want to take advantage of that.
00:33:03
Speaker
Let me ask this, can the hiding be flavored in such a way that it's one of those things where I just like get against the wall right at the edge of the corner and hope that he kind of walks past? Like, yeah, I think that'd be the way the hiding space was kind of flavored was that there's a space between two shelves that you could just sort of ducking around behind the corner of so that your
00:33:31
Speaker
You're in a good position to grab a dude if, uh, yeah. Yeah. I like, I like that. Or let him keep walking. I think it's not ready to pop it up, start popping off yet. I think I like that a lot. Raynard, are you hopping in there as well? I'll be hiding. So stealth check, um, with a two purple difficulty and Hob, you get two boost.
00:33:59
Speaker
Three success, one advantage from Raynard.
00:34:03
Speaker
Work a one, one success, one advantage from hob. Um, okay. So you both managed to dip in, uh, you each have one advantage. Would you like to pass boost or, um, yeah, I'll just pass mine on boost to the next role. Okay. Um, also Jeff, why does hob have five strain? What happened? Oh, uh, because Jeff did not reset at the end of last session.
00:34:32
Speaker
There, Hob's good now. Okay. And that's, that's your advantage. Fair enough. Look, I wouldn't have noticed eventually. Um, yeah, I'll do the same. Uh, or if we, can we combine them and target to a specific person or situation? Would you? Sure. I'd love that. Um, I, I guess.
00:35:02
Speaker
Hang on, let me see when I say this. No, okay, that's retroactive. Nevermind, I'll just, yeah, next, so Raynard's boost is the next person and mine will be the next person after that. Okay, sounds good. Okay, so the guard is walking by. This does not seem to be the magic wielder. This just, it is a tiefling man with a,
00:35:32
Speaker
a bastard sword, just still sheathed. He seems pretty less friendly. And how dare you asperge the character of his sword? We don't know who his sword dad was, and that's not my fault. So, yeah, weapon is not drawn, just kind of patrolling, lackadaisically.
00:36:03
Speaker
So as he passes by, anybody doing anything? Oh, Milo wishes he knew if Hob was going to do something. Milo would do a little press the position and tap him on the shoulder and get the drop big time. In addition to the drop you would already get. Let me OK, you know what? Let me ask if it's too late to ask this and just tell me so.
00:36:33
Speaker
Obviously we would have talked about The guard placement that Randy or that Milo knew. Mm-hmm. Yeah, does does hob have an indication? Is this the Is this a roamer or is this the doc guy? No, it's a controller. Yeah, this is why the two okay Yeah, then maybe hob does grab and try to pull him into the shed. Yeah. Yeah grapple that dude. Yeah Yes, Milo can I would
00:37:01
Speaker
Milo, you're thinking to tap him on the shoulders so he turns away from me or towards me and I can pop him on the nose. So he's kind of like, like what turns around and then, I don't know, just maybe help him be a little more distracted. Like he's coming right, right. You're here and he's coming by and just right when he gets here, tap him. So he turns and then sure. Yeah. Okay. Okay.
00:37:28
Speaker
So that is going to be a utility spell, Milo, so that's a simple check, so no difficulty, but you do need to make an arcana roll, because you might roll all blanks. So it's not even one purple? Nope, it's a simple check. One success, four advantage. So you do succeed in that. Guard turns away.
00:37:56
Speaker
Um, with four advantage, I would let you offer a full on upgrade to Hobbs check, uh, to, to get him. Okay. So, um, so Jeff, um, there's going to be a melee attack role. Um,
00:38:16
Speaker
with the intent of grappling rather than causing harm, uh, because of my low successful check at a boost die. And then because of the four advantage, you get to have a free upgrade on your check. I'm going to flip a story point to turn one of those purples into a red. I'm sorry. What would you say the difficulty was? Too purple. So now a melee check. So one and one now. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Um,
00:38:46
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, obviously, I'm not gonna... If we are in combat, in initiative order, now there's no point in that. We will be after this. Right. I'm trying to think... I guess I'll roll and then I'll flavor it, so... Okay. Three success, five advantage.
00:39:14
Speaker
So, you grab him. Yeah, I think that it is like, so I'm in a row between two shelves and there's darkness behind me. Yeah. If you will allow five advantages to just be like, I mean, Hob just drags this guy in the back and leaves him in a crumpled mess. I'm cutting off the circulation to his brain as I'm dragging him backwards in a choke hold and he stays there with three success and five advantage.
00:39:43
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. I'll say you just, yeah, you can, you can knock this one person out. Um, so yeah, just from the third person perspective, this Tiefling guy is just patrolling along and then all of a sudden stops and like looks over a shoulder as two giant gray arms come and, uh, yank him back into the darkness.
00:40:08
Speaker
Well, from Raynard's perspective, it's very crowded. Okay, yeah, let's get some initiative rolls just to get into a structured encounter. Which kind of initiative? You know who it... I forgot to add a boost dice to that. It's fine, I'm messing around. You all are in control of the situation, so it would be cool.
00:40:38
Speaker
It's literally you four and then the NPC slots, which there's only three now because that one guy got taken care of. So first PC slot. So you have that one patroller taken care of. You can still hear light footfalls moving around the warehouse and you are aware based on your recon that there are three more guards, one patrolling and two guarding the doors.
00:41:07
Speaker
but they'll all be here by their turn like I mean genuinely asking like you succeeded so there wasn't any noise or anything like that so you're you're good that's business as usual right now but you're obviously going to have to steal the stuff and get out but
00:41:32
Speaker
So, okay, right this second, Hob is back against the wall in the shadows between two shelves, but he knows what he's looking for. Are these shelves housing these cylinders that we need? That was the first place he looked. That was established that you all are on the right side of the warehouse to have access to these things. Right, I just didn't know if they were ubiquitous on this side of the warehouse. Like, could I reach to my right and grab one, is what I'm asking.
00:42:00
Speaker
Yes, but I'm going to flip a story point.
00:42:06
Speaker
To declare that you all are on the right side of the warehouse and you can see them on the shelves but Adelaide has a Additional level of security where there's lots Like tempered glass panes on each self that like fold up to get to them So you have to get through those in order to you can't just grab a handful and take that makes a ton of sense That she would do that
00:42:35
Speaker
Like a pawn shop cage. Yep. So also, so none of them will roll off of the shelves because you don't know how volatile these things are. They contain very powerful magic in a small cylinder. So that is what you and Raynard see down below. Eris, you're still dancing on the ceiling and Milo's on the top shelf.
00:43:06
Speaker
So who would like to take the first PC slot? Um, the shelves that we are adjacent to have, have these things on them in these cages? Yes. Okay. Uh, Eris wants to try to get one of these cages open.
00:43:29
Speaker
Okay. So, I mean, she's, so just stand down on the, from the ceiling and go for one that's on the, whatever the shelf below, the one that Milo's sitting on is. Okay. So how are you going to attempt to get through the glass? Are you going to try to pick a lock? Okay. So skullduggery, this is going to be a,
00:43:58
Speaker
hard check, but I'm going to flip a story point to turn one of those into a red. So one red, two purple. Is there still a boost lying around that I'm... Yes, you can have a boost from Milo or Reynard. I'm also gonna spin the story point and upgrade my check. Okay. All right.
00:44:27
Speaker
To success, one advantage. So you hear the lock kind of click, open. So Aeris works the lock, opens the lock, opens the cage, and are they an individual cubbies? What have I opened? Is this like in a box? So they are currently sitting like there's,
00:44:53
Speaker
So it's the shelf and then sitting on the shelf are like the test tube holders, but it's like bundles of six, like in little like circular slots. So there's a tray that they sit in. And Eris, you feel a sense of like cold, like hit your face as soon as you open it. Like there's some cooling element in the shelves. That's interesting. Eris will,
00:45:29
Speaker
Man, I was real pleased with myself for being upside down and now I'm having a hard time organizing it in my head. Eris will take her satchel and just sort of try to slide the tray into the satchel and close it and just sort of clutch it to herself.
00:45:57
Speaker
Okay. And then demonstrate her incredible core strength by raising herself back up to the ceiling, I guess. Okay, so yeah, Eris, you managed to get them into your satchel. Give me a... either...
00:46:18
Speaker
perception or artifice, a hard check. Well, I know what I'm doing there. And I'm gonna go ahead and flip the story point to make one of those a red again, so. I need to adjust this, because there's not a reason my glove would help me with this. Well, what am I doing? What am I, am I trying to know something about these? Yeah, yeah, you're trying to gain some knowledge about them as you slide them into your schedule.
00:46:50
Speaker
It's your success, one threat. So you don't notice anything as you slide them in. Go and just take a point of strength because you're hanging upside down sliding these things that you know nothing about into your bag. I know something about them. Well, yes, you do know something.
00:47:08
Speaker
but you don't know enough. You know what you've been told about them, but Eris does not have any practical knowledge, I think was what I was getting at. So, okay. Obviously, Philip. The first PC slot. Next PC slot, who would like to take it?
00:47:29
Speaker
I mean, I think Hobb kind of... Eris, are you on the same aisle as Hobb now? Or are you still up? I think so, because you just dropped down. So I would assume we're all still pretty close-clustered. That Eris is on the ceiling still. Yeah. Right. But I assume Hobb would have seen that happen. And he says, are we, are we, are we done now? Are we, are we done? He whispers it, but Jeff saying it a bit louder because audio medium. Eris kind of half shrugs.
00:47:58
Speaker
I think so. Let's get out of here. And I assume we would have established what wall we were going out of. Yeah.
00:48:15
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, there's no sense in being greedy, right? What is the wall that's right behind Hobb lead to? Well, you all are in the middle of the aisle, so you need to move either pick left or right and head to a wall. Okay. Well, Aeris will use a maneuver to move towards an exterior wall up here on the ceiling. Okay. And that will be Aeris' turn. Okay. So, second PC slot.
00:48:44
Speaker
Uh, Milo's just going to fall in line with theirs. Okay. So Milo, if you're walking along the top of these shelves, um, to get to the wall, go and give me a stealth check with a three purple difficulty. Here it comes. Stealth, stealth, come on, stealth.
00:49:09
Speaker
And I think we still have one floating boost. I believe that's right. We can have the last boost that's lingering. Re-purple, okay. And one blue. That's a, we have a lot of story points. We got all the story points. We have all the story points. Oh my goodness. So I'm gonna go ahead and flip one and take another boost. Well no, you're changing a green to a yellow. I mean a green to a yellow, yes. Yep. All right, here we go.
00:49:40
Speaker
Zero success, two advantage, and a try. I don't know what exactly Randy did, but in the role history it says, Milo Kegbottom used a sum zero amount of story points. Useful. Useful? Hey buddy, you did it. How you got that message? But RPG Sessions is getting real snarky with you. Let me tell you how I feel about this.
00:50:10
Speaker
Okay, so as Milo is walking along trying to stealth, these are like metal like industrial racks. So they start rocking as Milo's just trying to sneak along. The things inside start clanking and obviously the guards notice something. You have two advantage and a triumph. So Milo, you have been noticed.
00:50:38
Speaker
Um, so you can't undo that, but Milo, Randy. Yes. Bubby, talk to me. The triumph is they say, Oh, that's just Milo. Milo knows all the security guys here. They're actually his drinking buddies.
00:51:01
Speaker
or never actually been in danger. He just hasn't told us. And the implication is that they would accept Milo. Oh, it's just Milo. Okay. What happened? Hey, it's Milo from foster care. Milo just hasn't told us for some reason that these are all his buddies. Yeah. So this is Milo right on top of the shelves again. I'm just checking your security, guys. I'm one of those white hat thieves. Like I just come in to prove how good your security is.
00:51:30
Speaker
Don't triumph. Anybody. I gave my suggestion. You certainly did Trevor. It was a good one. Um.
00:51:53
Speaker
Could we say with the triumph that the guard in here has, of course, obviously noticed, but the guard in here does not yet sound the alarm. Oh, so one of the notices is just going to come check it out.
00:52:10
Speaker
Um, yeah, I'll, I'll allow that that. Yeah. Just one is going to come check things out before making a ruckus. Um, and that was essentially a maneuver. Correct. So Milo's moving, make some noise.
00:52:29
Speaker
I would like to, well, no, because if I do that, then he may sound the alarm. So that would ruin that. I was thinking about maybe making some noise elsewhere, like to lead him away from us. Like now there's two noises. So that would probably cause someone else to go check out. There's another noise. Can you be invisible? Is that a magic you have that too? Yeah.
00:52:57
Speaker
Yeah, I think I made Trevor invisible before. Oh, that's right. Yes. Yes. That whole session mission that we went on where things went very badly. Yeah, I think that's, I think I'll just turn invisible. Just do it. Try to. You just turn invisible.
00:53:19
Speaker
I'll let you use the two advantage to get a boost die on your check to become invisible. Okay. Yeah. Invisibility is a formidable check. So five purple each. Um, so, uh, I'm going to flip the story point to turn one of those out to a red. Would you like to flip the story point? Yes. Hmm.
00:53:47
Speaker
for success, two threats, and yet again, a triumph. So, Milo, you realize you're making noise and just, and turn invisible. So when they come to investigate, they don't see you. They just see the giant girl on the ceiling. They see the blue haired woman on the ceiling. And the elf. Well, you guys are in a little hideaway spot still, right?
00:54:17
Speaker
I mean, technically they have not moved yet, no. Okay, so two threats. Yeah, I'm gonna...
00:54:31
Speaker
I'm going to use those two threats to basically say that, yeah, the angle he's coming in from is that unless Eris does something to conceal herself, then she will be potentially noticeable. Obviously he's not looking at the ceiling. He will do a check, but Eris would be visible if he succeeds on that check. Triumph. Set up Hobb for another takedown.
00:55:03
Speaker
Yeah. I'm in the mood. Yeah. I mean, but that's, I mean, if Eris is able to hide, I mean, I just have a sense. Hob's probably going to do that anyway, though. Maybe you could make it better. Yeah.
00:55:26
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, you know. That's that sounds I can't. Sounds good as unless you can use it to make me also invisible, because Eris can't do that and you don't want to watch Eris make a stealth check. I guess that possible with the triumph, could I say with the spell I got Eris also? I'm I'm seeing what the can it go bigger than formidable?
00:55:53
Speaker
It cannot. No, I think getting to just cast the spell entirely again on another target is a bit. Especially with that knife. Hey, you know what? I have a talent, dadgummit. Okay. Or I can cast another spell. Let me cook all right. Listen, Jeff.
00:56:17
Speaker
I mean, all five of us, sure, we're great. All in the general population. Nah, there's gotta be somebody out there that can't do anything, right? Okay, it's called- Law of large numbers. It's called conduit. It says, once per encounter, your character may spend a story point to perform a magic action as a maneuver, incidental. Is it a maneuver or an incidental?
00:56:43
Speaker
Well it just says... Oh, probably activating it as an incidental and that allows the casting as a maneuver. Okay, so basically what you could do then is flip a story point to try to cast that spell again on Eris as a maneuver. Now keep in mind you've already used a maneuver this turn so that's going to be you've already suffered two streams for this spell
00:57:06
Speaker
it would be two more strain for the next spell and two strain to do another maneuver. So you'd be spending six strain this one turn. My fingers didn't cooperate after all the two twos. I think I went for eight. We're gonna do another thing for a while. I could try that and we would still have the triumph. You could try that and you would still have the triumph, yes.
00:57:35
Speaker
If you, I'm not telling you no, I'm just explaining the- Yeah, the mechanics, what's gonna happen? The resource sink in that decision. Okay, well, let's figure out the triumph. I mean, you could essentially give Hob an automatic upgrade to his check to try and take down this person to neutralize the threat like he did before.
00:58:05
Speaker
Boy, that's a lot of strain. Especially if things go sideways big time. Yeah, I'm worried about that too. But you could always use advantage to heal strain also. All right. Yeah. Yeah, I think.
00:58:26
Speaker
Do it. I think Milo is good. Yeah, I think Milo is like almost a little panicky because he knows he made racket and he's probably aware of Aeris's inability to hide very well. Everything on Aeris planks. It's like she's wearing plate armor, but it's just all the stuff in her pockets. Yeah. So right now her coat is like dangling down above her head.
00:58:51
Speaker
I'm going to use the triumph to give hob an upgrade. Okay. And I'm going to take a story point. Well, you got to flip a story point.
00:59:05
Speaker
and basically remove the boost die and cast that exact same urge. There wouldn't be the upgrade unless you're upgrading it is difficult. Yeah. Let me up. Okay. Yeah. Um, so, so yeah. Uh, so four yellow, one red, four purple. Well, you've already taken two or more.
00:59:24
Speaker
Yeah. Cause you took two after your initial casting. So, okay. Okay. And let's roll. Can I flip a story point for a boost? You already flipped a story point. Okay.
00:59:42
Speaker
So Milo, like, casts invisibility, sees Aeris, and tries to cast it again. Zero success, one threat. Okay. So, one threat on the magic check. Tried to cast it again in a brief moment of panic, and it failed. A box near you becomes invisible.
01:00:12
Speaker
No, the entire show becomes invisible. The threat of the guard becomes invisible. Milo got the words mixed up and he accidentally cast fairy fire on Aeris, so she's just reamed and light. Aeris would be like, that's kinda cool. Can you leave it like that?
01:00:37
Speaker
No, we'll just pass a setback die to the next allied role, Milo. Which is me. Or Hobb. Either or. Oh, I thought Hobb went, sorry. But unless there's another guard about to patrol past, Hobb's gonna... Oh, there he is. Well, I know. Hobb's gonna hold his action until the next guard hovers into view, so go ahead. Okay, Raynard.
01:01:07
Speaker
Uh, we, we, sorry, we had established there was a wall that we were heading towards an exterior wall, which is we're saying is the wall we agreed we would go out through. Yeah. Okay. I think I just make my way there. Okay. Um, since you are aware that a guard is kind of on, on your tail, uh, give me a stealth check to try and do it quietly as to not draw more attention.
01:01:32
Speaker
I mean, since I was the one that, uh, got all the info on the entrances and exits, shouldn't I get some kind of boost for that? Um, I don't know. I've heard people say crazy. I've heard worse reasoning. Sure. Go and take a boost. It's a three purple difficulty.
01:02:01
Speaker
But I also have a set back, so. So it's still, sorry. One boost, one set back, three purple. But a lot of dice. Yeah, here we go. Two success, two advantage. Yeah. OK. So Raynard, unsurprisingly, you're able to, with light feet, sneak about, you have two advantage. What would you like to do with it?
01:02:27
Speaker
I think I'm going to definitely pass those on. We need to succeed and not make a terrible mistake. Okay. So specifically targeting Hobb for your boost. Yeah. Oh, okay. Hobb, it is your turn. Where is the, do I have a bead on the nearest guard?
01:02:49
Speaker
don't have line of sight on him yet. Okay. He's walking from where he was before. So, you could try to move around and get him before he gets there or just do a check to set yourself up in a really good position. Well, I'm trying to say if I can't see another guard, Hob's going to move towards the wall as well. If I don't think one's coming, it'd be silly for me to
01:03:13
Speaker
Yeah, you can you can hear footsteps headed like you hear the footsteps of the other patrolling guard and there. And is he aware that Milo shook the shell? Yeah, you are also aware. Yeah. Right. You heard the clanking of Milo. I guess here's here's my question. Here's what Hob needs to know. I need and. Yeah. I, you know, being everything in our brains,
01:03:38
Speaker
I think Hobb would have a reasonable idea if all four of them could make it through the hole before this guard comes around the corner. They might be wrong, but he'd have... That's what I'm trying to figure out. Does Hobb think that all four of them are going to make it to the hole that Eris has yet to activate? Because he also knows how long it takes to activate the hole. The guard is... Oh, go ahead. Mechanically speaking, the hole takes to be a maneuver to activate and it lasts for one round.
01:04:09
Speaker
Okay. So, um, the guard will like on their turn, they have enough maneuver to get within distance to see what's going on. I mean, I know we play in the meta on this. Phillip saying it takes a maneuver makes me realize they're all going to be here before his turn. So yes, I guess I will advance on one guard that is coming around and see if I can, uh,
01:04:50
Speaker
Okay, this is just a, how do you play Genesis question? Can I burn a story point after I roll? To put something somewhere, if I succeed, I have to burn it now and then possibly, because I just, we've never done that before. Here's what I'm saying. If I succeed, if my attack succeeds, I want to,
01:05:03
Speaker
Oh, we got some story points to burn. Yes.
01:05:08
Speaker
say that there I just happen to be able to just barrel him into another aisle out of the way and you know not necessarily be able to take him fully out of commission again because I had another stupid idea but I don't think it's gonna never mind I'm rolling uh I'm gonna
01:05:24
Speaker
Okay, so you have a free upgrade from something. And then you have a boost die from Reynard and a setback die, or no, no, Reynard took the setback die.
01:05:41
Speaker
Um, so... And I get a boost for being one-on-one. I'm gonna flip a story point to turn one purple into a red. Sure. How many purple do I have? Two. That's a melee check. Okay. Um... Okay, I'm gonna roll this, and then I just had a flavor idea, but I'm probably gonna need a triumph for it to work, so let's roll first. Okay. Alright.
01:06:10
Speaker
Three success, two advantage. I don't think my thing's gonna work. So here's my ask. Can I use the two advantage to say that the altercation at the very least doesn't end out in the open?
01:06:23
Speaker
Even if he's still standing, even if he's, you know, still wanted to fight me, I at least have it to where a second guard's not gonna round a broad corner and see a fight happening. Yeah, I'll say that you all got into an isle. Okay, now I gotta calculate my damage. Yeah, so that's seven damage to them.
01:06:45
Speaker
And if you were gonna give me that anyway, I would use my two advantage to just do another seven damage to them. Wait, what? Well, here's what I'm trying to figure out. Did you say that was good for my two advantage or that was gonna be the case anyway? That we weren't right out in the open. That was good for your two advantage. Okay, okay, great. Pardon me then. Then I'm good. Seven damage and we are kind of back. I mean, if we can, I'll just say that I waited and I was able to pull him right to where I was anyway, as opposed to chasing him down.
01:07:15
Speaker
Um, now it's an NPC turn. Uh, you did not fully take them out of commission. You didn't knock them out. Um, so they're going to kind of scramble with their weapon and shout intruders, um, intruders and try to bring his sword back up over his shoulder at you. I imagine you like grabbed him and pulled him in. And so he's just trying to quickly, um, yeah, attack.
01:07:44
Speaker
Yeah, it was probably one of those things where I grabbed him by the collar and as he's coming across, I just beat him once and that was the best I could do. And then he pulls out his sword, which is so gauche when you got a guy who's just going to fight you with his hands. Uh, he's going to use his maneuver to aim. Uh, so we are looking at a two green, two yellow, one blue, two purple, uh, pool. Would you all like to spend the story point to upgrade or no? We're good. Okay.
01:08:17
Speaker
One success, five advantage, and a triumph. I know, hold on. Wait a minute. The GM is not allowed to use triumphs. Five points of damage. And he got five advantages and a triumph.
01:08:43
Speaker
I'm just going to keep it simple. He is going to crit with a plus 20 on the roll. Go ahead and just make it a plus 10 because Hob automatically reduces 10. Right. Which is honestly not as roundly helpful as one would hope. None of these are, you know, good.
01:09:08
Speaker
Hamstrung, so he slices the back of Hobb's leg. The target loses their free maneuver until this critical injury is healed. So Hobb, every time you move, you have to spend two strain. My strain just jumped back up to five for no reason. All right, that's okay. I've got a torn hamstring right now. It's not fun, Hobb, but you know.
01:09:32
Speaker
So yeah, intruder slices the back of Hobbs leg. And yeah, that's everything. Well, he has one, he'll pass a boost cause he still has one advantage leftover. So, um, okay. Next PC slot. Um, so you hear, uh, footfalls just, um,
01:09:58
Speaker
as the other two guards get up um one of them is going to spend two strain to basically take an extra maneuver to try and close the gap with wherever this uh this shout came from so um hob as you uh
01:10:20
Speaker
like feel the stinging pain in the back of your leg. You see one of the people that you saw entering this building as you were staking it out around the corner. And they're wearing long flowing robes and she has long flowing hair that kind of begins to float as she concentrates her will. So it is going to be a three yellow.
01:10:50
Speaker
one green, three purple, check. Go ahead and make one of those a red, please. Okay. I flipped it. Oh, sorry, we both flipped one. I'll flip it back. Sorry.
01:11:06
Speaker
Okay. And also since you are engaged with an ally, we'll go ahead and flip another one to a red. So two red, one purple, three yellow, one green. Gosh. This is going to be either real dull or real big. Take some wounds team.
01:11:26
Speaker
Zero success, one advantage. That's a classic hob roll right there. Very, very dull. Very dull. Oh, and a boost die. Hold on. Forgot the boost that he passed. Three advantage. Three advantage. Huh.
01:11:42
Speaker
Wow, how very disappointing. I agree. I'm not bad. Hob, you see her extend her hand back, her hair kind of begins to flow up as she channels this magical energy inward and fire begins to wreath her hand as she reaches back and flings
01:12:05
Speaker
a small fireball at you and it just, I mean, we have to go with kind of the, it just fizzles out before it reaches, it just. And we go to the next NPC slot. Eris, Reynard and Milo being kind of in a different position than Hob. You hear footsteps coming from another direction near the front of the warehouse where like the front door
01:12:33
Speaker
The front office is, and you see a guard round the corner. He is going to make a perception check to try to notice Reynard and Aeris. It is. Aeris, your stealth is too green, correct? Okay, so it's a too purple difficulty. But I'm on the ceiling, so.
01:13:00
Speaker
Set back. Okay. And would you all like to flip a story point to make it more difficult or no? Is this for me too? Yes. I think mine's one yellow too. You go with whoever has the worst stealth because obviously they would be the most easily noticeable.
01:13:29
Speaker
I don't care if you're satisfied with that answer, Trevor, that's the answer you're getting. Okay, I'm gonna take that as a no. Three success, one threat. So, he runs the corner and then looks up and, huh? As he sees Eris just standing on the ceiling. And with the one threat, he'll take a point of strain because
01:13:57
Speaker
brain don't work good, woman upside down on ceiling. So, you know, as it is written, as it is done. Okay, that is the end of that round. Eris, give me your perception check real quick. Okay. Or an artifice check. I will accept either hard to forties, but since they are in your bag, add a setback. Uh-huh, uh-huh.
01:14:27
Speaker
I'm gonna upgrade because I feel like this is getting... Darn, I may have given away what... There we are. Three success, two advantage. So, you're satchel that you shove these in. It's starting to feel some heat radiating a bit.
01:14:48
Speaker
Um, and yeah, it just, but it's not like hot heat. It's like, it's weird. It's like magical. Yeah. Okay. Now I got you. Yeah. Yeah. Heresy is the matrix. I got you. Yeah. Um, two advantage. I would like to have a, well, let's see. Oh, also what all is in heresis satchel?
01:15:19
Speaker
Just give me a rough. Ever so many loose parts. Just bolts. Yeah, there's the accountants. The accountants desk had a nice pin on it that's in there. She's probably got a book for in case we're bored.
01:15:41
Speaker
Are there any cigarettes still in there? There's probably some leftover cigarettes from what was the tiefling bot? We've been running a lot of tieflings lately. The tiefling theater boss's name. Divas. Yeah, she's probably got the remains of Divas' cigarettes. And it's probably, she probably took the larger things out of it for this purpose because she knew she was going to need to tote something.
01:16:09
Speaker
Okay. Um, everything else is probably in her boxes, money or anything. Pockets of boxes. Everything else is probably in her pockets. Yeah. Okay. Um, so I am going to, oh my goodness. And then Eris also on her person has her Fletcher.
01:16:31

gloves, her glove. One of the gloves is bolted to my bones, so I feel like that should not be able to disappear. Or they certainly not, you know, just fall. I'm assuming these things are starting to activate and so my stuff is randomly teleporting to who knows where. As long as half of Eris doesn't teleport somewhere. D8, 2, 1, 2. And now
01:17:07
Speaker
Okay. So, um, Eris, um, you, as you kind of begin to notice this heat radiating out of your periphery, you all of a sudden see the accountant's pen that you lifted up here, slightly above you, right near the ceiling, about 40 feet across the, uh, the warehouse, just in thin air and just dropped to the ground and clatter. Oh, that's bad.
01:17:34
Speaker
Okay, first PC slot. Is what your Aeris say above your head. You have two advantage Aeris. Well, I'm obviously going to try and do something about this on my turn and so I would like to have a boost die when I attempt to do something about this on my turn.
01:17:55
Speaker
Okay. Milo hearing that says, yes, this is bad. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Cause he made the noise. Yeah. Well, it was a nice pin, but it's not that big a deal. No, that's not what Milo was. Milo's unaware of the pin. I know. He's talking about the pin. Okay. Uh, who would like to take the first BC slot?
01:18:20
Speaker
Hob, you're actively engaged. Reynard, you also saw this guard around the corner. Yeah, I was going to say, I feel like I'm most ready to do something to act. Okay. Sure.
01:18:34
Speaker
Well, they put out swords. These are security guards and they began with swords. They didn't put out cudgels. They didn't take out stun guns. They didn't ask us to surrender. Their opening move was swords and fireballs. I just want to point out, I'm always quick to kill and I asked this time and got my head bent. Rule of thumb radar, if one of them tries to immolate your friend,
01:19:03
Speaker
Listen, somebody tries to kill you, you kill them right back. Safety's off. That's the rule I live by in RPGs. Somebody tries to kill you, you kill them right back. Well, that I'm latched in an arrow. Okay. To suit the one that just rounded the corner for me in a- All right. Short distance away, so one purple difficulty. Oh, he's about to be dead. I'm gonna go ahead and flip a story point to turn that purple into a red, so.
01:19:33
Speaker
OK, well, we got all these story points, so I'm flipping. Do it. So this is four yellow and one red. OK. Miss what? Oh, my gosh. Before the fall, Reynard, before the fall. So four yellow. So you have three advantage.
01:20:01
Speaker
It's rigged. Yes. Yes. I, I hacked the system. Okay. Well, I'm going to say the, uh, my arrow at least like gets part of his clothes and just kind of pins into the wall for a second setback. He's got a setback die on his. Yeah. On his turn. Yeah. Yep. That works. Um, okay.
01:20:24
Speaker
Next PC slot. So yeah, your arrow goes and like he he of course has a cloak and it just snags it and causes him to stagger back into the wall. That's what capes have done. I would have on brand with not wanting to kill immediately. So that's fine. I would have to use a maneuver to get to the caster, wouldn't I?
01:20:44
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, that's a bummer, but I need to get to it. Hub, okay, this may be a retcon. I'm just going to say that that's okay. I probably haven't played this way, but it occurs to me now, Hub's MO should absolutely be to take out the magic person first, every single time. And I don't know why it just occurred to me that that should be the case. Well, the magic person wasn't available.
01:21:09
Speaker
until... Well, no, I mean in past. Over the previous X number of episodes. So I think he's going to take two strain to maneuver to the caster and simply attack. Okay. Go ahead. This caster has the trait adversary one, so you're going to automatically upgrade all checks. Okay.
01:21:39
Speaker
interact with her, and I'm gonna flip a story point to make that too red on your melee check. Okay, and I am singularly engaged right now, right? Because I've moved far enough away from the other person? Okay, so I get a move from the other person. And I'll flip... There's not a method for that.
01:22:04
Speaker
I don't necessarily care about another yellow. I'd rather have another dice in the pool, but there's not really something I can do about that, so I'm not gonna flip a point. Well, what's your current pool? It's three yellow and a green, so it would just be four yellow. Yeah, if I was all yellowed up, I would get that extra green. But I think I'm going to... Yeah, I'm gonna try it.
01:22:34
Speaker
I'm gonna go ahead and add another purple to this, okay? To increase the difficulty because if I hit, good things happen, more or less. All right, let's see what happens. One failure, two advantage.
01:22:50
Speaker
It was, you know what? It wasn't the purple. I'll take solace in the fact that it wasn't the purple. That just went from zero success to one failure because of that, so. Okay. Well, I guess with the two advantage I would like to target, I assume Milo is most likely to... Well... Yeah, Milo, you're still up, right? So you're seeing all this stuff happen. Yeah. I think I would like to target a boost to Milo because... Okay.
01:23:18
Speaker
No, that's the right call. I'm shaking my head at how badly this is going. I'm sorry. Okay, okay. I was like, you can just tell me if I need to do... That's not reacting to your choice. I'm just reacting to how badly this is going right now. Yeah. So he's going to target a boost to Milo with those two advantage because he knows that his boy Milo likes to pop off when somebody attacks Hobb. Yeah. And then you can tell me how spectacularly I fail.
01:23:45
Speaker
I mean, you got one failure, so you know, she just managed to, Hobb came in hot, went for the attack, and she just managed to, this isn't her first time, so she just managed to sidestep the punch. So, you know, it's not a blundering failure, just. I am now open, if the third guard makes it to the fight in this round, I am now open to being quickly spotted by them. We've got them all engaged, because there's the one that you grabbed, and now you're on the magic user, and the third guy is the one that Raynar just shot at.
01:24:15
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. I don't know. I thought I ran our start at the first guy. My bad. My bad. We're fully engaged. There's, there's no stealth. There's no stealth anymore. And unfortunately not a lot of engagement on my part. Sorry guys. Any of us so far Milo redeem, redeem this round. Okay. Milo.
01:24:37
Speaker
quickly whips out his wand and begins to spin it and... Like a drummer? Yes, like a... And then flicks it toward the other spellcaster. Okay. And as he does, the blackness from his forehead, from the top of his head just basically courses down his arm into the wand
01:25:05
Speaker
and these this black ray shoots toward the spellcaster and right before it hits it turns icy blue okay and it says it's a 2 difficulty and it has the ice quality or i guess which is in snare
01:25:29
Speaker
Um, yeah, so this is the attack spell with the ice added to it. So yeah, yeah. And this blue and this blue icy beam as it right before it hits it like turns into chains and tries to envelop. Excellent. I want to argue for a boost die for Milo because he is coming out of invisibility.
01:25:54
Speaker
OK, so I don't have to come out of invisibility, though, if I can't. I forgot that invisibility is just absurd in this system. So never mind. Well, he's he's still invisible. He's it's surprising. Yeah, I think that's it. I sure to to boost because one from from Hobb and then one for your invisibility. OK, and then I really want this to work so you could aim.
01:26:21
Speaker
I'm going to spend the story point to add boost dice equal to my character's rank in knowledge, which is four. You have four ranks in knowledge? You have to get 11 advantage, my man.
01:26:39
Speaker
That's kind of ridiculous. That is dope. I'm going to flip a story point to make one of those two purples a red. Oh, and she's an adversary, so you upgrade the other one. So it's too red. This is, boy, this just swung hard the other direction, didn't it? You're like, hey, shut up, too despair. This is one of those things that would be so nice to see this gigantic fistful of dice go crazy on the table. Mm hmm.
01:27:08
Speaker
Five success, seven advantage, and a despair. And despair. Wow. What damage did you do to her? I see. Yeah, let's calculate those wounds first. Holy cow. Okay, three from the wand, right? Yep. Four. Five from the successes. Yes, eight. So that's eight. Plus four more for your intellect or your arcana, so 12. 12. Pre-soak, yeah.
01:27:40
Speaker
Um, and shock of shocks. Her soak is not great. Yeah. So, um, although silken robes don't do that, you can activate, you can activate the special quality you attached to it in snare. We've got a crazy amount of advantage. Yes.
01:28:01
Speaker
You can activate and crit. Wrap her tight. And yeah, I would like to crit if that's possible. You cannot. On magic, you have to have an advantage. If you would have added the deadly quality, then you get a crit rating of two, but otherwise it's only on a triumph. So with magic. Sorry, Randy, I led you straight. That's OK. We got five left. Five advantage are still on the table.
01:28:34
Speaker
Can let's see you could. Throw a bunch of setback onto her. Next check, throw some setback onto the other guard that's now unengaged with anyone. You throw a lot of boosts around. I think Milo is, I mean, we haven't really encountered.
01:29:01
Speaker
Any other magic users? Yeah, we have the two sisters on the train fight. Right. It's not super common, but yes, it is something you have encountered. And I think he's probably more concerned with the magic user and Hob getting attacked. And so I would like to throw a whole bunch of setback on her.
01:29:26
Speaker
Okay. I'll let you do... And also, when Milo's winding up and casting this as he's doing this, he says, Pin, what in the world are you talking about? So I'll let you do either two setback or an upgrade on the difficulty of her check. Let's upgrade her check. Okay. So for the despair,
01:29:51
Speaker
Milo, your Icy Blast gains purchase, but the magical energy hits her and kind of doesn't explode out, but, you know, dissipates outward. And you see the green glow of some of these battery things that are next to her and Hob and this other guard begin to flare up.
01:30:15
Speaker
Um, and, um, yeah, let me. No, my spell is cold. It, it, it, it's the opposite of hot. Okay. So, um, ha. Oh man. You see this ice like hit and wrap this caster up and then a blink later.
01:30:48
Speaker
you all of a sudden feel wind rushing past you, as you, the spellcaster, and the guard that was behind you are on top of some kind of shipping container driving through shark. Are you kidding me? What? Oh no. And from your all's perspective, you all of a sudden see this magical energy just, it doesn't explode, just kind of emanates.
01:31:15
Speaker
And all of a sudden, the three people that were in that aisle are... What about the frat? Eris, you have context to understand. They didn't explode or anything. They have teleported somewhere based on the actions of the pin. What on Eberron just happened? What did you do?
01:31:36
Speaker
I just I nothing I don't nothing. Nothing. It was an icy spell. I but I don't think it was me. It's those it's those canisters.
