Speaker: Welcome to the DIY Guys, the podcast where home renovations, power tools and mild panic go hand in hand. I'm Nick Morris. And I'm Dan Doher. Each week, we'll be chatting with some property pros, some DIY diehards, hopefully help you with some tips and tricks along the way.

Speaker: Welcome back to the DIY Guys podcast. As always, I'm Dan Dower and I'm joined by my good friend, Nick Morris. How are you doing, mate? That's nice warm welcome. I know, I'm good. Thanks, mate. How are you? Yeah, good, mate. You're all cheery after that. I know, yeah. I'm hyping you up, haven't seen you for a while. It's probably since we last did this. That's probably why, isn't it? I was thinking that. was like, and even like, I know we've both been really busy, so I was like, haven't even really like...

Speaker: Like, messaged you. Yeah, that's why this is quite good. Yeah, although we are spending the weekend together. Yeah. Not just us two, but us and our friends. It did sound romantic weekend. Yeah, we've got an old man 40th weekend in Riga. The big 40th weekend in Riga. And the weather looks awful. It's, like, horrendous, yeah. Hurricane weather. After how good the weather's been this year? I know. Like, the one weekend. To be fair, we, like, a month ago, we played golf, which is more, like, you need the good weather for that, don't you? But, like...

Speaker: So i'm I'm glad we got that, but still. It's so annoying. I also think as you get older on these weekends, right when you're in 20s and definitely, well, definitely 30s, you spend all your day, you go fly somewhere really cool and you spend all your time in a bar. And it is actually quite bad. You're like, we've been to places that I just feel like I didn't even see. Like, where do we go for Mars Day?

Speaker: budapest yeah and everyone says how nice budapest it's so different budapest and i've got no memory of that whatsoever i went back with christy's family and christy christy was like oh you must remember all this i was like no exactly i was like if we go to an irish bar yeah i could tell you what's exactly i remember we did like little bar call but anyway so pathetic so now as i've got older i'm like like your stag was a really good example and like yeah i was like We saw places, but also saw a bit of this actual place. So was looking forward to that. And now it's so miserable and rainy. I'm like, well, we just need to go to bars. So I'm genuinely quite annoyed about that. But hopefully we can do something a little bit touristy. Yeah. Because we're old men now as well. Exactly. We need to rest. Don't want to be in bed by six. Yeah. But also I did book a very dodgy-ish, but it is a spa hotel. It's a very cheap spa hotel with four of us in a room.

Speaker: But presumably there's a pool or something as well. We could chill out. Yeah. never do either. It was a pool. I was like, wow, how are we paying? Wasn't it like £90 like two months? Yeah, I feel like we might have pay to use the pool. I need to look inside. I need to do everyone's flights and stuff. To pay to use the bed. Yeah. Well, I am looking forward to it. I'm just like,

Speaker: It's killed it. Yeah. But never mind. The one thing I do think about, like, when you go to Europe and you check the weather out, it just, like, it's never right. Yes, and I agree. So I'm, like, holding out hope. It's kind of like old Eastern European territory with, like, as i'm hoping all the infrastructure terrible, they don't have a clue going on in there. They barely get it right here as well. Yeah, true. And it's still like warm. If it doesn't rain, it's warm. It's fine, yeah. I've no idea what to take. i I'm refusing to take jeans or chinos because been short for so long. Yeah. I just don't want to do it. I think it last week.

Speaker: I was going into the office and I had a client meeting, so was like, oh, I'll put on some jeans. And I was like, haven't worn jeans for like six months. It feels horrible. hate It does feel really weird. Oh, yeah. Today, I've got jumper on now still because I'll tell you part of my...

Speaker: When you ask me what DIY I've done and I say barely any. one Even today, I went to Chessington today. Oh, amazing. we've got that thing where Lydia finished nursery in the last day of August, whatever that was, Friday. don't know if it was the 30th or 31st. And then she doesn't go school to the 14th of September, which is quite a while. Yeah. But she meets the teacher tomorrow who comes to our house, which is really rad. Oh, what? that She gives each kid like 10 minutes.

Speaker: So I don't know if it's like more of a thing from her point of view that she has to like, We'll do a welfare check on the kids as well. Yeah, mate. Probably like 10 minutes. What can we even do? probably She probably doesn't want to drink. She's doing like yeah presumably 15 in one day or something. She can't be doing them all. No, surely not. um And so we've got this lull between her starting the induction week next week, which is like two hours, two hours, five hours, five hours. So Emily was like, well, you need to do something with her and have a day off work. was like, I've had so many days off work. yeah that There's been no work. It's so hard, isn't it? Like how the parents like is mad deal with that. Because I was speaking someone the other day. I was like, what the hell would you do?

Speaker: With a six-week holiday. I don't know. i think we're so lucky we can lean on grandparents a bit, but he's still six-week. You're just going to have to take holiday. Yeah. i think that's what my brother's business partner said. He's only had, um well, at the point he spoke to me, he had no days off in the six-week holiday, so he booked two weeks at ah two days at the end. Yeah. Just go to Alton Towers or something because he just felt so bad, and I think he was getting no day.

Speaker: yeah oh He did feel bad. He didn't want to. But again, he's had loads of time off from like other things, external, like family stuff. So he was like, if I'm not at work, I'm self-employed.

Speaker: This job doesn't get done and it moves on. So it's one of those things. But yeah, i've I'm basically... Yeah, I've been awful. I've been barely doing anything. So I hope you've got a lot to talk about that downstairs toilet. Yeah, yeah. Because I've been to M's 40th. So you weren't around, obviously, on for a party on Sunday, you? No, no, it was so annoying.

Speaker: On Saturday? Sunday was. Oh, you're backtracking. Were you actually around? Yeah, can you imagine? Yeah, it's pretty awkward. On Sunday, we were out. um we went to We actually went to the beach. Oh, nice. was like, amazing. So, yeah, we had something booked in with Christy's best mate.

Speaker: and her partner and she's got two kids so we going down uh to um broadstairs and uh yeah we spent the day at the beach but once again like similar to our holiday we kept like looking at the weather and we're like it's gonna terrible yeah saturday was there wasn't it but sunday yeah sunday we went down there and we're like oh it's gonna be awful lovely sunshine yeah i was what i was like I took a jumper with me. so thought it was going to be freezing. It was absolutely boiling. I know. I feel like we're running out of the days, but we're just getting a few now, aren't we? Yeah, yeah. turns miserable.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah. But yeah, that was obviously the day where Em's 40th party we had in like Dulwich. She had like a tiny little... It sounded amazing. It was really good actually, the bar was so nice. Shout out to the Drop in Dulwich. The Drop, wow. So good. We hired it out, it was tiny, there was like 24 of us, 5 of us, but we filled it basically. And the staff were just amazing at bringing drinks stuff, so that was really good. And then we had the Cotswolds-ish, sort of like Western Cotswolds. with em's family um we went to like the zoo and stuff and that was five nights because we added on a couple before and then literally got back and we've been to um cornwall for six nights as you could tell this is this podcast definitely going to be called the diy guy it's just you or it's just like the holiday podcast everyone's just talking about going on holiday diy guy i am plus man this is gonna have to be because i'm not i'm not doing anything

Speaker: I've just been organizing loads of stuff basically. But have you had tradesmen in least? It's been packed. Oh, amazing. It's been awesome. Yeah, yeah. um And even like last few days, it's been great. There's only been a few. I had to go in on bank holiday Monday because I've been so far behind. I just do like a couple of hours work.

Speaker: Yeah, it's been great. So the painters, sorry, I've like jumped straight in. No, i go on, get stuck in, mate. Yeah. So the painters finished all three bedrooms basically apart from... the skirting in the third bedroom because toby was doing that bank holiday monday with me nice um we had this thing on bank holiday monday i don't know what you think he basically i had exactly the same thought i was like i need to work because the flooring guy was doing the big screed on tuesday like the whole everything to do the mt goes screaming one so he's been four times i think just do patch patch patch back build it up build it up then was the exciting awesome therapeutic really like oh just clean and done amazing but i needed to get rid of like an old gas pipe in the living room there's fireplace which even though i was told it was off and you know it's off yeah just like oh god please please please be off i'm like i'm looking at the gas mains off the plumbers said was disconnected like four months ago yeah i was still just like my god And then there was just like little lumps in the living room as well that i should just chase out and get other bits ready for him. And I was like, it's Bank Holiday Monday. This is probably against some sort of like neighbor code of conduct. Yeah. Especially as I didn't go early because I'd been out the night before Em's party. Her parents stayed we didn't even have to get up early. Like we got up at like 9.30 or something. Amazing. Which was amazing because Em, I mean, oh my God, I'm just drunk. So drunk. They made her do a speech. was like, this is a terrible idea. Yeah. And she basically, in that speech, said she loves everyone. And she said, great for everyone. Said when she met everyone. And also, thanks for not dying. It turned. There's, you know, some things going to happen. Thanks everyone for being alive. And like, it's like you're trying to sell your wills and probates for your law firm here. It went down the way. So handing out business cards. Yeah. So she got home. And she was in the car. So ordered a pizza. Because we we got back at like 10.30.

Speaker: It wasn't late. Oh, nice. And I'm going, I'm so many times. You're going to have to claw me back at some stage. The listeners, all three of them, are like, what's going on? Yeah, I need a note for that.

Speaker: She was like, McDonald's. was like, oh, but I really want a pizza. She was like, McDonald's. I was like, oh, so annoying. just know you're not going eat it. I went on just, it was so expensive. It was 30 quid.

Speaker: for a meal, like a chicken meal thing, large, and some chicken oats on the side. 30 quid! thought McDonald's used to be like... cheap, yeah. And then li Emily got home and, let's just say, was not well. Oh, no. She's a professional woman, so I don't know. throw her down a um too much but she was an unwell from maybe something else yeah maybe in another day she ate something bad or something and she literally ate like one tenth of a nugget so I sat there like a sad fat man and ate it all and a bit bit of me was also so bad i was like

Speaker: She's not going eat this in the apartment. was quite excited. but Yeah, yeah, exactly. Already ironed her food up. It's so bad. I literally ordered you, didn't even want it. I don't even like my dog that much. But was like, this is quite good at 10.30 when you're drunk. But then that's more annoying because like, I didn't even want this. Yeah, know I know. wanted a pizza. But she'd done me a favour for me because I probably would have ordered two pizzas or something. That could have been a dark road. Just like waddling to bed. Or just waking up on the sofa with a slice of pizza on it. Thank God I've gone off on so many tandems. I've totally lost where I was. Oh, yeah. So then I woke up late the next day.

Speaker: yeah I was like, I'll need to go to the um bungalow. But i just time just went and then Em's parents didn't leave for a bit. And then Lydia has been, bless her, really like clingy. i think worried about school and stuff. So Em was like, go and she'll cry and it'll be fine. But hung around a bit longer and played a bit. And then, yeah, so i went at like 2 p.m. and Toby was there all day.

Speaker: And Toby had exactly the same thought. Dave was like you can go and work there Monday if you want. He was like, it's bank holidays. I just don't know what the rule is. No, because I thought it was similar to a Sunday, right? Like you had to keep noise to a minimum. I thought Sunday was almost like you can't. saturday I thought Saturday, unless it's, um maybe that's for like work.

Speaker: I thought you're not allowed trade. Oh, okay. Okay. But then you can just be like, because Toby worked at mine on a Sunday. Yeah. It's like, well, I'll just say my mate's here. yeahing me out but yeah okay Yeah. Yeah, exactly. So it's hard to enforce as well. And also think,

Speaker: really harsh because as someone who works and then does DIY, I can't just do everything on a Saturday. Yeah, exactly. Especially, I think the actual rule is Saturday at midday, or is it one of two latest or something, I think? And then Sunday, not at all, I think. is that But it must be the work thing. Yeah. It must be because it's just impossible. But Toby said that Dave said, don't you go there Sunday, Monday, if you want? And he was like, can't go to Sunday. just feel too bad for the neighbors. The worst was on wine.

Speaker: maybe it wasn't on Saturday, the roofing guys. Oh, yeah. So this was when we weren't living at the house. They were oh, the roofing guys are coming on Saturday. I was like, oh, okay, cool.

Speaker: Sounds good. And then i got a like WhatsApp from my neighbor moaning that they started at like 7am. Mm-hmm. Because I don't know if you use That's the other thing, isn't it? after eight. Yeah. And you just think, that's fair enough. Yeah. I would be annoyed. Yeah, be annoyed. So I messaged him. I was like, very apologetic and just like, yeah, that's not acceptable. Yeah. Because I don't know if you use those guys as well, but think they live up north.

Speaker: And they just come down. oh no. do We use different people. So, yeah. Dave was like, maybe it was the old ones he used. And he was like, oh, we use these really good roofers. But they're from up and north. So, they'll just come down, do a job, and then go. yeah Or if Dave's got, like, couple of of jobs, they'll do it.

Speaker: But, yeah. So, they're like, get there. They want to get everything done. So, they must have had a good run and got there early. And, yeah. um The neighbour was not happy. but Because I've got to jobs early. I had a job in Highbury for a bit and you leave early to get there. yeah But then it was still, say, before seven. But actually, by the time you get all your stuff in make a plan, it was then near eight. Or you could still do some things, like not making noise, drilling and stuff. but yeah i was a bit like so i had to hack away the floor and the gas pipe thing and it's right on there the neighbor's wall and they're lovely they actually moaned about a single thing and i've even texted her and she's like we're at work all day don't worry but was a bit like oh this is this is crossing a potential yeah you feel bad and i i haven't annoyed anyone i don't think yet so i don't want to do it yet yeah that's it yeah um well i'm saying i haven't annoyed anyone yet i accidentally did make

Speaker: a big faux pas. So I've worked barely anything and I did a cock up. I cleared out, I don't know I told you, sure I didn't tell you this last night, I cleared out, when the new skip came, yeah ah cleared out my garage, like, and my mum's garage. I've just...

Speaker: My mum has got paint galore and stuff like that. we've got And artist just threw it in the skip, this big tin of paint. And you know even you sometimes even like paint being thrown in the skip, which I always think is a joke. You're like, I'm painting a house. What do I do with it? after And I threw a blooming 20-litre one, which I thought was empty. Lid popped off. It went up like the curvy, is it 45-degree angle bit of a skip? Up the neighbour's window, up the neighbour's wall. Oh. no And I didn't notice at the time, it was only the next day, James the painter was like, oh, you've got paint all up your neck. But as in, there was like a teeny bit on the window. Specs, yeah. And then 50 teeny specks on the wall. Okay, yeah. So I had to go like and just be like a laborer, yeah, holding my head low. God, I literally also at that point, this is why maybe people should keep everything and not be like me.

Speaker: What thrown away also in that skit was a brick and mortar cleaner. So I'm now digging out the brick and mortar cleaner. At least was like, this is great. This not going to do any damage. I'm making sure it was in date. And literally it came off effortlessly. But then this is one bit. I was like, God, this is a big splot. I just can't get it off. So it can't be old because it's brick house and there's no paint anywhere. Mm-hmm. And when I looked over the other side of the house, and it was just old. Peyton had probably been there for like 20 years. And then we were like, maybe when they had ah wooden windows however many years ago. So was like, God damn I was scrubbing and scrubbing and scrubbing. It's unbelievable. The stuff that was fresh was just like, oof, off. And just scrubbing, scrubbing, scrubbing. So yeah, that was not a good moment. It cost me 45 minutes for moment. And my shame.

Speaker: Yeah. My pride, sorry. Having to knock light as well. Yeah. Or luckily I just text them saying sorry and they, I think they were out. Well, hopefully they were out because was at window and everything. But I didn't see them, which was good. Yeah. I've seen them subsequently. They've been hi. I must have done it right. Well, it's the paint guy. But obviously my painter and...

Speaker: and Stuart, the carbon tubers there, and they found hilarious that they just had a cup of coffee and we're out front. I just had like a five, ten minute cup of coffee just watching me, just laughing at me, saying you missed it. There was a bit on like the actual plant. They're like, oh, got clean that plant. I was like, oh, this is so bullshit. Totally my fault was don't throw things in skip willy-dilly. Yeah, yeah. Just madly. I was so annoyed myself. But yeah, so sorry, I've gone so many tangents already. It's great. It's been really good. It's been...

Speaker: James has finished a couple of bedrooms. He's like, no one can touch anything ever. i I'm not coming back. you I'll charge an extra. I've got say, yeah, I do agree. But then I've literally had to put everything from the house in those bedrooms because they're getting carpeted and the rest is getting in empty. Of course. Which is nearly the next day. So was like, their rooms are full without touching a wall. He was like, Please. um And then he's coming back.

Speaker: We're all there tomorrow. So there's flooring guys there tomorrow. I'm there tomorrow. Finally doing a day's work. nice Although I'm supposed to be meeting the teacher. But I said to him, I think I've just got to... Yeah. You could just be the teacher far as I can. So then you're on holiday. Yeah, because then I'm on holiday again on Friday. So this week, I haven't worked Monday, Wednesday or Friday.

Speaker: So, yeah, and Tuesday I went to go to Grand's, but my flooring guy was doing that screed on the whole floor. Oh, yeah, yeah. So satisfying. I think I know this is an audio, so not that helpful for our listeners, but i just got to show you how, like, nice it looks. It's just so... Oh, yeah, it looks wicked. It kind of looks like polished plaster, doesn't it, everywhere. And it dried. He was there at 11 a.m.-ish and finished by...

Speaker: 12 it's really quick then you just see them mixing up all the bag or maybe a bit longer actually maybe one yeah and i went there after work at like four fourth it it's just dry was like can i step on this i want to see what he's done it's just completely dry it's so cool it must expand a little bit but yeah so he today when i wasn't there again was returned oh he did that and i was like oh wiki can you please like lay the mt coast as soon as possible he's like yeah mate tomorrow I was like, yes, you. I love you so much. Because I said, I proved it ages ago, but you just assume some people are just like this stage and then this stage and then this stage. And he was like, yeah, I'm to start laying it tomorrow. i see how much I can get done in two days. I've got to go off again. was like, oh my God.

Speaker: ahuff But I didn't get to go there today because i've literally gone from Chessington and Emily was out. I've done bedtime and bath time and then now you. I'm like desperate. I like oh i think I should start. installing internal cameras. Yeah. And I could put it on YouTube as well, but it's just like, i just want to see updates all the time. Yeah, exactly that, yeah. Or just be better at project managing and be there. Yeah. Or actually do your job, mate. Yeah. I'm so ba behind. I've got like three days of electric probably just to do there alone. And I've got two days of my brother's to do as well i'll just be fobbing off everything but 10 pounds looking good for the downstairs toilet yeah so yeah um before we go on to your talk i think that's it so only other hiccup was was like text the window guy i' being like oh when's the porch coming or everything's moving well we're looking good for maybe in back to september finish again he was like i haven't ordered yet waiting for your approval was like no was like we literally stood out the front and he was like

Speaker: oh, I know you wanted to raise it up to like the roof height, but if we just drop it 10 centimetres or something, you don't have to affect the roof, you don't have the soffits, don't affect the guttering. It'd be way cheaper for you, way easier for was like, brilliant, do it. um He was like, you want speak to the builder? I was like, no, no, no. And then he's like, thought you were speaking to the builder. I'm like, no, didn't, you forgot. You blatantly forgot.

Speaker: So I don't know how long the turnaround is for that, but now I can see this house being finished. And then there's just a bloody porch out the front. The only good thing is with my window guy is he hasn't asked for any more money since he got like three grand off me in six months ago. So I'm hoping now just holds it all to the end. So I pay everyone else and then... Have a few months relaxing. Yeah, exactly that, yeah. So I think that's everything. Oh, which carpenter's been as well. was going to say, Stuart's there. Yes. Mocking me. Kitchen's in. Yep.

Speaker: Oh, nice. I'm blooming glad he did some work. To be fair, I'm mocking him only because I know him so well, but he just keeps coming and using the skip and then not working. He's like, I'm just going to check it out again. oh really? There's another...

Speaker: 30 quid in the skip there. But I'm like, if you're working here, that's fine. But I'm like, every time you pass. No, but he's been great because he was just, he's so busy, but he's just basically doing, if this makes sense, the bare minimum to keep up with other stuff going on. yeah So he can fit it like a massive amount in one day.

Speaker: So then the worktop people came two days later and templated the worktop another day when I wasn't there so I wrote it all down for mum thinking oh I've done this so great she can't mop this up it's like as in not in a rude way but I've been really specific and I just forgot to put any information about the island on it Because was so worried. was like, I'm getting it from DIY kitchens and I've used the planner and I've done this and I've done that. But I know the worktop because it's the same as my house. want an upstand. I've done this. want in the windowsill. So much detail. And then she's just foaming and Cornwall, no signal. Yeah. Oh my God, what frustrating plan. I know, yeah. Amazing, but annoying. Yeah, I really do think it's a good thing. But when you're trying to do a little bit of work, yeah oh my God, it was so annoying. so But luckily, Stuart was around the corner on another job. My mum phoned him and he came and saved the day. Oh, amazing. Because they needed to know like rough, because it's not in because it doesn't need to be. But they just wanted to know roughly how big to do the overhangs and stuff. And he's so good because he's like, want me to walk that way, want me to that open the dishwasher. So he saved my bacon massively. Or he was like, got something for the skip. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker: And then he came back a second, like a third time and did all the tall units. oh no So they look wicked now. Like like right near the ceiling. in This really looks really built in. So I have got tons to go and do. I've got to now go and fit the fridge, the freezer, the oven, the microwave. I've got just like the larder covered because there's like the gas meter and meter all back there. And so I've got the hob to do when the workshop goes in. That goes in next Wednesday. so it's just all just like go, go, go, go. can finally do some work. But at least it's like on you. So you can do it as quickly as you can do it. Yeah. And I always feel, I know if you do this with your work, I like panic thinking, oh God, this can take forever. And if I actually think about it, you're like, oh, it's actually fine. You can just do Y, Z in the day. I always start with the hard stuff first. I've got to do all this, like, work around the fuse board to make it all neat, like trunking, all the hide, all the cables and that. Yeah, nice. Just do all that stuff and, like, put the ovens in and all that horrible heavy stuff. And then do, like, the nice jobs, like, sit on my toolbox and do a socket. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker: Buy a few lights. This is what I was going to ask you. on. ah I'm doing everything to like a high end. As in, I feel like, you said before, that you spend all this money on stuff people don't see. yeah i think it's important, if you can, to see it through. So lights, I'm um um'm i'm buying from cheaper places like Dunelm or like John Lewis, but offers. I'm thinking of just doing all bespoke lights as well. As in, like, no...

Speaker: plastic pendants with a nice nice lampshade even just trying to buy proper fittings. yeah yeah um But it's still it's probably going to cost like five to six hundred pounds that I could probably do for more like three hundred by just buying like one over the island which needs to be nice. um yeah And maybe one in the lounge probably needs to be nice and the wall lights in the lounge needs to be nice. But probably the others in like two in the hall, three in the bedrooms could just be cheap plastic with a lampshade. Yeah. And I'm just like, oh, am I being stupid here? So tough, isn't it? Because realistically, you're not... Are you going to sell it with those lights? Yeah. So it's just... Oh, okay. Interesting, yeah. And again, I'm going to go for things that I've bought previously and i know look good. Yeah. But even the cheapest light is £35, whereas a plastic pendant, I think you get £10 for...

Speaker: less than two pound each definitely so i'm just like one pound something yeah exactly and i've got i've got a few little lampshades at home that are even quite nice and It's one of those things, I don't think many people go, oh, that light, I'm not going buy it yeah But it's maintaining that, oh, this is this house is, apart from the drive and the garden, which we haven't done anything, yeah this house is like ready to go. Yeah.

Speaker: I do think that because also I think if you go in there and you see the plastic lights, you immediately think like, which it has been, someone's renovated this. Yeah. It just looks like that. So I think if you have nice lighting, similar with plug sockets right yeah exactly you've not got like the cheap plastic ones it looks like someone's thought about it someone's taken care about and it more feels like a house that's like someone would live in rather than like a blank canvas okay good that's what I think too and I've got I bought loads of the chrome brush sockets already because I bought loads for a client and they changed their minds. I could have got my money back, but knew I'd use them in the future. I just kept them all for ages. Even though I've spent the money, it feels like I haven't spent the money. I've got this big box of fittings. So I was definitely going to put those on. And yeah, really, I think like sockets behind a bed or excuse me, behind like things you can't see don't matter. No. But again, this has been shown empty and I want it look like fancy. Okay. I think my instinct is go for it. Yeah. But I also am like, oh, the credit card's quite big. And then the debit about doesn't quite match what's coming out credit card. So it's just like, oh God, start panicking. Yeah, true. But no, I think it will look so much nicer. Yeah. think,

Speaker: Lights one those things that you don't really think about, but then you like notice without noticing. i You would be like, oh, something's off in this room, but don't know what it is Yeah. Okay, cool.

Speaker: I definitely would buy a lampshade or something anyway. I wouldn't just leave like it dangling with a bowl. Yeah. So I guess that would be less, but still an expense. You get them like second hand? Oh, don't know. Like second hand lights?

Speaker: don't know if you trust them. Something like, don't think I trust them. Unless some of this they're in really, the list listing was really clear being like why they they bought them but didn't like them or something and sold them. I'd just be a bit like, it's just electricity and maybe got these dodgy lights. As long as you can prove where it's come from, I guess. Yeah, true. Yeah, yeah I've never looked into that actually. It might be worth looking at.

Speaker: Maybe on eBay or something like that. think Facebook Marketplace is awesome. Yeah, Marketplace, yeah. We're literally thinking of getting Lydia a scooter for birthday next month. And everyone that Emily likes £160 new. Yeah. For £40 secondhand. that's insane. just literally going pick it up tomorrow. Yeah, yeah. It's actually in immaculate condition. It's like, oh, God, why would you pay that new? Yeah, it's so true, isn't it? Yeah, I'll do that lot. That's a good idea. Have a little look. Yeah, have a little...

Speaker: Maybe there's some like John, I could just type in like John Lewis light or something. Yeah. You know it's of a certain quality, isn't it? Because some stuff comes, I get offered stuff with my YouTube that I say no to all the time. It's like,

Speaker: Chinese factory or something. I can't. Is it T-Move? Yeah. It's great for some stuff, but would you buy electrical off it? Exactly. No way. No way. It's like these people that buy phone chargers off T-Move. Oh, yeah. No way. Oh, my house is set fire. It's like, oh shit, you paid like 10 people. Did I wire that? Yeah. was like, no, no. It's definitely the T-Move. Thank God.

Speaker: So, yeah, I think I'm all up to date, but how any progress on your end? Yeah. Nick, the plumber's been back. I can't remember where we left it off. He was basically coming. You said you'd done all the boxing in, you'd done a bit of the stud work.

Speaker: Yeah. done You moved my cables into like positions in yeah the back boxes and stuff. And then he was coming back. Yeah. So he's he's now come back a couple of times. He came back last week.

Speaker: all the first fix pipes in place. All the first fix. There's a toilet and a sink. But he still managed to get all that done. Nice. um And then build like the stud work for the half wall that we're having nice systems in. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker: He did all that. And then he was like, oh, no pressure, mate. But can't do anything until you get like, not the full floor down, but like partially the floor. I was like, okay. So on Saturday, screwed down all the floorboards, made sure everything was like insulated underneath.

Speaker: And then i put some ply, like just six mil ply down. to make it easier because we're tiling. So then going to need your help to put the electric underfloor heat. Oh yeah. forgot we were doing that. Yeah. um So I've made sure that I've left enough space that we can like get cables. Yeah. Okay, cool. So i then plied the floor.

Speaker: It just looks so much like fresher. Cause it was like old floorboards. Like I managed to get like two bits of ply to cover the whole thing. Oh, nice. So i was going to go like one bit. I was like,

Speaker: That's what I said. Do you remember my bathroom in the past? It was just so stupid. Just do in two. It doesn't a difference. So, yeah, did it in two bits, like screwed that all down. And then he was like, oh, you can put some of this like Jacko board down yeah and raise the floor up.

Speaker: But I'm not going to have enough space. So I bought all of that and then I had to return. ah so I got 40 quid back, which I happy about. But yeah, so I'm going to do that and then trying to find like, maybe you all know this, like some electric underfloor heating, but everything, the minimum size, like one meter squared. Yeah. I'm like ever so slightly out of that. Oh yeah. I don't I've only ever seen one meter. Yeah. Unless it's like a 0.75. No, I've only ever seen whole numbers, I think as well. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: I mean you can because i was adjust it. unravelling yeah yeah You obviously need to be careful. It's it's always like, i don't know how far apart, maybe like 40 mil or 50 mil. You can just unravel or a bit. You'll definitely be able to do it some way or the other. I had to change loads of mine just because of bathroom being awkward shaped and having an in and out door. So like a Jack and Jill door. It was a bit different from other doors and other rooms, sorry.

Speaker: um So you'll definitely be able to do that and yeah do it yourself. But and yeah you're putting the DIY guys to shame because you're actually doing DIY. And I'm not doing DIY. Well, I watch my plumber do loads of stuff. So then he like messaged me this morning and he was giving me a hard time because, you know, you remember I said I used my light circular saw on that camera.

Speaker: a bit of bald in it, like blunted the blade. I was like, bloody hell, mate, how blunt is this blade? What have you been doing? was like, oh, yeah, so I had to shamefully admit that I'd used the wrong blade on that.

Speaker: And then he was oh, what are you doing with your floor? And I was like, oh, I'm going to tile it. And he was like, like an awkward thing. He was like, you want me to give you a price? was like, I actually, I'm going to do it. So he was like, okay. And then he started giving me some tips and stuff. I was like, cheers, mate. appreciate chain that.

Speaker: think it's just methodical, isn't it? Yeah. And he was like, the screen you put down, make sure you're like happy that it's completely level. Yeah. Because it's like so hard to then balance all. Yeah. That is a real hard. Especially on the floor, I think must be harder than the walls, I think.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah. But yeah, he must be, so just don't start near the door, start in the corner. Yeah, that's it. Don't corner yourself in. Yeah, exactly. But then I thought that's hard, right? Because I'd rather there be a full square by the door the corner. Yeah, that's the thing. You do need to plan it, don't you? yeah, exactly. know it's only a small room, I think sometimes, ah myd my tile has said before, small rooms are sometimes worse. Or like, certainly if you give small tiles as it's always hard for them. Yeah, annoyingly, Christie's picked up really small tiles. Ah!

Speaker: It's like it's big ones, then it just goes straight down. where'd you get it from? ah We haven't bought them yet. I can't remember where we're getting them from now. But yeah, we've done the typical, like, get a load of samples. Yeah. She like, really like this one. I was like, damn it. You don't usually get many small floor tiles. No, I know. Yeah.

Speaker: You ever seen the video of the woman who... Penny washed her floor with actual Penny. Yes, yes. think you showed that to me. Absolutely awesome. God knows how long it took her, but it's insane. Yeah. Absolutely insane. But yeah, don't do that. So yeah, yeah. We're not doing that. What would happen the underfloor heat? Would that just like heat the copper up? Would that do something like really dangerous? Like molten. Yeah.

Speaker: So yeah, so we've got these and they're quite thick. So I'm hoping they're all right with underfloor heat and I need to double check that suppose. Yeah, I've got really thin in the bathroom. We got we spent loads on the wall stuff. I think I said before from that posh company, they're in like Chelsea. Yes. Oh, my God, they'll come back to me. So on the floor, we were just like, we just want something really boring and neutral. So we've really cheap, like really cheap, and it's really thin. And genuinely, underfloor heating is sometimes too hot. We had to like turn it down because it's like Jesus on your feet. And then we've got a really thick one in our downstairs toilet.

Speaker: And unfortunately, it definitely has to work harder and you probably pay more for it to come through. That's good to know. So if it's thick and small, you've got... know, yeah. That sounds like a weird innuendo. Yeah, it's going to be a pain for you to bloody put down really crap at being coming through. Yeah, yeah. Because the one in our bathroom is like,

Speaker: God, it's got to be at least 10, maybe 10, 12 mil. Yeah. And they're solid as a rock. And wicked tires. Yeah. It take ages to come through. That's what I was thinking. I was like, oh, I didn't know if like, tire was like just a really good conductor and it just warms up.

Speaker: Don't think so. I have no idea. but I'm just basing it on mine because apart from even one of our tires, thankfully, it's always under a mat. It's cracked already. Wow. And it was Nick the plumber who was like, was that me? And I was like, oh, I don't know. But he had his work boots on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. looking at a valve in the thing and he came out and was like, I've never noticed it before because there's always mat there. Yeah, yeah. And it's tiny but it shows how thin and maybe something was not done properly underneath. I don't know. Yeah.

Speaker: But that one in the toilet, I don't think you'd crack that if you took a sledgehammer to it. It's like rock solid. So, yeah, was oh, you can get some levelling clips if they're not that small size. I was like, they are that small size. It's like, oh, you're screwed. Yeah. Oh, God. feel like there's so much pressure doing those as well. Even just, I've had jobs where you're like properly, properly good tilers are in it's just ever so slight out. Yeah. And it's like, well, it's fair enough. It's just like, no, it's impossible to perfect. really hard job.

Speaker: And where he's coming back as well. He's going to proper be looking to see if he can find any imperfections. have to do any cuts? As in, I know you have to cut when you get to an edge or whatever, but obviously the toilet won't be in at that stage, will it? No, and we've got a wall hung. Oh, yeah, course you have. Oh, so that's good. So it's literally just a rectangle, which is good. Because I think if you have to do loads of cuts, then that's a pain in the arse. Yeah. You won't have to do too many, presumably. it'll just be whatever by the wall, I suppose. Well, yeah, what I know is mud tile, I'm sure you'll do it, is lay it all out. Because sometimes it's like, it looks better, so hard to explain, but say it was like three solid tiles, and then just cut one in half. Sometimes it looks better to cut one in a quarter and cut one in a quarter. So it's like the same, it's like symmetrical. Stuff like that, you're oh yeah. Whereas I think, you know, I've said so many times, I just start too quickly sometimes and make a mistake.

Speaker: think I'll just, like, tile a whole floor, get the corner and be like, oh, shit, I should have done that. Yeah, yeah. Damn it, it's done forever. I'd have to live with it for 30 years. Yeah, exactly, yeah. So, yeah, I think laying it out first is, like, a good little tip and then go for it. It must be so slow. Or it's going to take six weekends. Yeah, yeah, probably will.

Speaker: But then I've got finish class board and then bring Jimmy. Oh, good old Jimmy. So hopefully he'll... Such a small job. I'm hoping he'll just be like, yeah, I'll just fit you in. so Yeah, and just obviously, he'll know he's small, but you just want him to come by himself really because he has his son with him all the time now. Yeah. And you're like, God, want pay for two of you, no offence. Well, it would just be pointless right yeah exactly but sometimes people just like unless to be fair what he did with me and the rendering he came he he charged me like 500 pounds for two sessions with two of them and then he only came back for like two hours a second time but so I guess he just squeezes in another job yeah and I actually thought 500 pounds were right for like if you're

Speaker: breakouts like four people for two or whatever. It was actually okay. um But yeah, so maybe he'll just do another job and at the end, come and do yours and do it an hour or two. well That's what was thinking.

Speaker: You've got angles, haven't you, under the stairs? Yeah. bit under the stairs. It's not... I think sometimes, yeah, it's got to be easier, but still... You'd think so, wouldn't you? Yeah. don't know if you could do plastering any time in an hour, though, can you? No. No Because suppose you've got mix everything Yeah, you've got to set it all up, all the sheets and everything. I was thinking there's some holes out of the wall and stuff, so we'll need the thicker stuff to go on.

Speaker: Yeah, surely it's still like two or something, two and a bit hours. I would guess it would be like two half days where they come do the prep for half a day and then come back the next day and plaster, I guess. It's annoying, those things, because it's well within his right, and I totally agree with it, that he should charge at least a half a day, even if you're there an hour two. It's like you've got to do a half day, but you're like...

Speaker: pay for it exactly yeah that's why i always feel bad if someone asks me to do something small because I'm like I've got to charge like at least either a big call out fee or a half day even if you're just doing like a socket because it's just wrong otherwise I've like allowed half a day to do yeah and I've said this to my mum and dad before because they um they always want like little jobs done. I was like, well, just like make a massive list. Yeah. And then just ask them say, can you do like, cause they've always got like a light switch or like hanging a light or, you know, all those little jobs. I was like, yeah, wait until you've got a few. Cause otherwise, like you say, and it is fair. Like by the time you've got there, got all your tools out, done the job, start a good half a day, isn't it? And you're like, you don't want to lose money. Cause at the end of the day, that's your job. is Yeah, exactly.

Speaker: Yeah, he got to plan, like even buying tools and stuff. I've always been looking at some tools, even though I've barely done any work. I got excited about an electric screwdriver. I've never had an electric screwdriver because I feel like it's important to like feel how tightly you tighten something.

Speaker: um I'm seeing all these reviews, like, online. It must be getting my algorithm coming up on, like, all the time. It's electric screwdriver and really good reviews. And it does, like, the perfect tool. You can do it motor. I'm like, God, that would be easier, especially when I do my brother's garden rooms where you just sit down and you do like 10 sockets. I could just go meh rather than... Yeah. I feel like I'm getting lazier and lazier because I'm asking him It's lazy lazier, but also technology is getting better and better. Yeah. Because I now have got push fit lights I do for my brother, so no screwdriver needed.

Speaker: um I found that TLC, which is this... I can't, what the hell do they say about? don't have a clue at they sound for, but there's one in pen. is They're really good, like, electrical wholesale. Yeah, I think I've got something. Was it just TLC Electrical? Must be. Maybe it was that. Something like that, yeah. Can't think. nothing electrical in it. They're doing these push-fit MK sockets that are, like, nine eight or nine pound on tool station screw fix.

Speaker: £4.50 or £4.30 or something. Wow. So I ordered, like, I said to Chris, can we order, do like, 100 of them to, like, cover the next load of garners because he's always doing white. And they're just pushing as well, no screwdriver needed. And now getting a bunch of screwdriver. like, I'm just trying not to, like, do anything, basically. I'm making life as easy as possible. But then was like, yeah, that is the point. Yeah, very efficient. and Yeah. Because sometimes i when I second fix his garners, I do in one day. And sometimes I'm a little tot up. I was like, wow, I've done a fuse board.

Speaker: which is obviously one big thing and then like 35 fittings or something and i'll get like cramps in my hands and but maybe because i do so little work all the other time but yeah so was like oh should buy an electric scooter yeah you've got it that's i love tools the joy of it yeah buying a new tool i just wish i wish we if this got big and we got sent tools that would be the best thing i'd rather that the money yeah Do remember the electrician guy? Yeah. It's so many tools. Home electrical. Is Bosch?

Speaker: Yeah. And he's got all Bosch gear, like everything. everything yeah But he's got electric gear. The Bosch something too is the electric screwdriver that I think I'm going to get with 60 something quid. yeah And everyone said it does break after like two years or something. But I'm like, that's right. £30 a year. Yeah, exactly. To make my life easier. yeah yeah But then if you think, say it took you a day to do a gardening room, if you're doing it that in like six hours, that's like two hours of your time back. That's what I thought. Yeah, that's what I thought with just the sockets. There's been a couple where you like do something, you tighten it, but you put some effort in and then you just like pops out you're just like

Speaker: so when these push ones they're just like they just don't come out very rarely they come out yeah and i'm like oh that's better because if i push it back hopefully then i'll never pop out accidentally and stuff i'm just trying it's trying to improve myself and make my life quick obviously yeah yeah um but yeah i'm going off on tanners or the place listening yeah so yeah other than other than that i'm not doing any DIY but i'm looking for tools for More tools, less DIY. That's basically my ethos.

Speaker: So, yeah, I'm going to need your help for the underfloor. I need to book a day. and It won't take me long. No. and it's It's going to take me longer to get the power from your utility or whatever, but still, it's not going to take long.

Speaker: Or whatever we said we were going to do wherever yeah Or your fuse ball, we said, didn't we Or the fuse ball, yeah. That'd better. So, come and have a look, I suppose. Yeah. Because I think behind...

Speaker: I've got ah an idea of where I want it to be, obviously I don't want to tell you where to put it. such thing But um yeah, come and have look at it. What's your deadline here? Well, apparently Nick the Plumber wants to come back before he goes on holiday the end of the month, I think. Oh, that's all right. so Oh, any time then. Yeah. i can say but But then I've got loads of stuff to do, so I think I'm going to have book time after. Oh, yeah. Have you got much holiday?

Speaker: Yeah, yeah, I've got quite bit. and use that time to do it. But um yeah, I've got to the plasterboard and the floor. ah So they're the two biggest things.

Speaker: Yeah, I look into the underfloor. I can't remember who I used the underfloor. I really should remember because um I did a video on YouTube and it's actually quite a good one. It gets quite like a lot of views. Oh, it's from um the Tile tile Mountain.

Speaker: oh It was one of theirs. of Something heat. I know that sounds so obvious. Yeah. But yeah, it was definitely from Tile Mountain. and But i feel like loads of them are the same from loads different manufacturers. It's all the same. does feel like... But it's such an unnecessary thing. But once you've had it, you're like, it's just amazing. Well, it just saves space.

Speaker: We don't have to have a radio. Yeah, exactly. Which is so like... could probably fit it in, but it would just be like bit... Yeah, yeah. yeah we it Even at Grand's, the bathrooms are so shallow. I think they're 1.7 or 8, like, in internally. So, putting, like, a bath and then a towel rail jutting out, it takes up quite lot room. yeah I've even i had to order different valves because um the valves were sticking out too much. i So, I said, can they go internally instead? So, they're just, like, not yeah jutting out. So, like I think towel rail sometimes... um

Speaker: can just take up way too much room. Yeah. And i need, you've got all the wire in there, the fan. So would you do the fan before plastering? Nah, it's fine. just um Jimmy who just does like, leaves a hundred mil-ish hole. He sometimes comes in a bit, that's fine.

Speaker: The fans are actually quite a good one where they just cover a big gap. You know, like sometimes a light hole, they give you like a little bit of an overhang. Like fans are quite generous with their, yeah. um I've just got to choose a good one. I've got a couple I use, like a little round one. I think the round ones look slightly smarter than the square one. Yeah. um Because the plate they're all plastic and...

Speaker: big crap yeah true nice fans but I know a couple yeah nice so yeah need get booked in this is basically just trying to put me in this is just yeah me just coming and going right you have to do which clearly you've seen I've got an aversion to work and I'm trying to do everything thing as quickly as possible but yeah I would definitely do it I've said it now yeah I see yeah And I owe you a day already, so I need to come and help you do stuff. Stuart always remembers that. He's like, Dan owes you a day, remember? you did decide What did I do for you? Was it the underfloor heating before or something? Yeah, I think it was. Yeah.

Speaker: I'm sure we think of something. I'm sure we think of something. Stuart's like, oh, Dan owes you a And while you're thinking, he's just throwing loads of stuff in your skin. It's like 90 quid. I keep looking at that skip. I'm like, is this from my house or not? But was like, I've been here so little. I don't know where I was. It's so true. I can't wait. I said to Lydia this morning, it's so funny how kids think differently.

Speaker: We were on our way to Chessington and I said out loud, I can't i took her to Grand's other day, bizarrely. yeah um I went and met my brother in soft play in Alpinton and was like, I'll go to Grand's on the way. and Because I'm always talking about Grand's. I think Lydia sometimes is like, what do you do? Are you a builder? No, I'm not a talking about builders, Toby said he still listens.

Speaker: Oh, yes, Toby. Still the number one fan? He said he went there on bank holiday Monday, didn't know how to turn on the lights. And then he remembered that I said the only way turn lights at the fuse ball. Cause I didn't want to. put Oh yeah. He said he wouldn't have known that if it wasn't for listening. So was like, yeah.

Speaker: So Lydia's always like, what do you do again? I'm like, and I try to explain it. And she's just like, this is like a job but a job. I work really hard to short periods. Why are you never there? So I took her there just to like, look around and, um,

Speaker: Yeah, and then so this morning I said to her, can't wait to go to Grands tomorrow, thinking she'll be like, oh yeah, i know Grands now. Again, she did know it in the past, it's probably forgotten. yeah And then she was like, oh, but what about Chesington? You're not looking forward to Chesington? I was oh no, you can still look forward to what you're doing today. I was looking forward to seeing like the Amtiko down. and yeah i mean, I've now got that thing, though, I've got to just protect it for like a month. yeah It's like so annoying.

Speaker: I didn't know whether to buy that black stuff. Yeah, I was about to say. It's expense. I've got so much cardboard in the front, it seems mental to go and buy that black stuff, even though that black stuff is so good. can't remember what it's called. No, can't remember that. It's really thin, isn't it? Yeah. But it just goes down and it's got like a bobble to it, so it protects like indents and protects scratches.

Speaker: But I've got so much cardboard in the front, but then it's been raining a lot lately as well. Yeah. I still think I'm going to go cardboard and duct tape. just ah I think that black stuff is so good, but I reckon I'll spend over 100 quid on it. Yeah. And then at the end, you just throw it in the skip.

Speaker: Yeah. I've kept it preview on previous jobs, and then you try and put it on the next job. It doesn't quite work where you've cut it or you've taped it and there's paint and crap on it. So I think I'll do that. But yeah, I'm excited to see the floor, but dreading having to sort it all out. Yeah, exactly. Do you need to put something down? Is there still a lot?

Speaker: I'd say yeah, just because like, work tops coming in next week. I know that thing wouldn't probably help anyway, but it's just it's just people and boots and stuff, isn't it, coming through? Even just like the plumber stood in the bath the other day just to do the valve in the ba shower.

Speaker: And had to remove the sheet to get tight in, so there's no shit. So it's just like muddy footprints all over. Yeah, yeah. And then you're like, oh, you're going to have to spend so long cleaning at the end. Yeah, in the cleaning part. so historically when I've done it i remember you like you remove the black stuff but you can't take it right to the edge because you've got a skirt you've got to architrails and once the empty goes down um but you you are like oh that bit is nice but then you've still got to clean it all yeah it just reduces the hack I just don't want to spend the money now nice um but yeah so

Speaker: Did you do, I thought you were doing the skirting or did Toby do it? Toby did it in the end and I can't even lie in here because he listens. I did it all. I'm so glad as well. but I basically was like, I'm going to do it.

Speaker: And then I spoke to, it wasn't Stuart actually. It was James the painter because he was like, oh, when's this getting done? And I was like, how long, how many days you think it was? Because in my head i was like, in like a logical way. Yeah, yeah. copies an angle. but Like, don't get me wrong, there's a skill to it, but skirting in an empty house can't be that difficult. Yeah. And he was like, oh, this is definitely like two to three days doing these three rooms because you've got so many angles, got the architrails, got the And i was like, oh, God. there's No way I'll be able to do that. Because if that's two or three days for someone good, it's going to be double for me. Yeah, cause I need a week and a bit, as as you've seen from my half a few weeks since I've seen you. I've done F all. um So I'm so glad I just said, God, got bite the bullet and pay Toby. And then so he smashed it.

Speaker: he basically did all the bedroom one, and bedroom two in one day and came back and bedroom three, a bit the bathroom, a bit of this. And it's loads. It's literally so many cuts. And you look all the detail, you know, those little funny cuts in corners and stuff. And you look around and say, oh, well, that's a length. And you're like, oh, that is a lot of work. And you've got to go and do all the cuts in the front because the house has been painted most of it. 50% of it. So you can't just cutting in the house, making a mess. You've got to go back, forth, back, And you know it's like you measure, I'm trying to take too much, I'll do a little bit and then go check. No, still a little bit more. So I'm just so glad I made that call.

Speaker: Even though the budget is obviously going to hell. It's already gone to hell. We're way over 100,000. Technically I've paid nobody's I don't think since I last saw you. So it's the same. Yeah, you don't pay anyone, it doesn't happen. So technically, think still on like 104, 105 or something. But I haven't even had time to update the budget on our thing.

Speaker: Yeah. and the The money going out. I've done my own little Excel spreadsheet. Do you do Excel spreadsheets for stuff like your toilet? Yeah, yeah. So we're going to do that. this something We did it for a whole extension. Yeah. But then for smaller stuff, we don't normally. But we're like, oh, we're going to do it just to have interest to see. I didn't know you doing it for posting as well online. Yeah, we'll probably post it. If you didn't post it, would you still do it? Yeah, I think just to see how much we spent, I suppose. Because then, you know...

Speaker: Not that we're going to do enough. Well, if we go in the loft or whatever, it just helps you to know that you're like, oh, it's going to cost us about. Yeah. Oh, good. I find that sort of thing quite interesting because you said two to three grand, which is cheap. But then, as you said, you're doing a lot.

Speaker: Yeah. And you've got the room itself as like a structure. You're not building. Yeah. so yeah, it'll be interesting to see if you can do it because I have not done although my job was bigger and i did sort just pluck a hundred thousand pound out of the eggs i thought it sounded nice gone from the hundred thousand pound bungalow to a three grand downstairs are gonna say three million three million pound bungalow like one of those guys in grand design yeah divorces his wife and takes 10 years to do it also i'm obsessed with shouldn't really like shout out other people but like Have you seen the guys? They're like four, I think they're Aussies, four Aussie guys. They bought one euro house in Italy. I saw it, but didn't see You know what I mean? I saw it like come up, but yeah. Looks like the best time ever. I'm like, damn it. I don't think that'd be so hard though. Yeah. In a foreign country, just even going to get like materials. You just expect to see a tool station or something. Presumably, they have stuff like that, but maybe not in this remote. Yeah.

Speaker: And it's like Sicily as well. it's like small island. It'd be a nightmare. And the worst part is looking at like they have to drive through like all these like tight roads and stuff like that. I do love stuff like It's pretty cool. Yeah, it's good fun. I'd like to do that if money was no issue. Yeah, yeah. and stuff, you're like, okay, it costs bit more. Yeah, You're not just getting fleeced. If your, like, livelihood was on the line, I not like that. Yeah, if you're doing it, I guess they're not selling it for a profit. Are they doing it into, like, a wedding thing or anything? No, Just a random... just looks like a typical European, like, sort of terrace, you know, where there's loads together. Yeah. Just doing a big terrace thing. That looks wicked. Oh, I tell Wolf that. Yeah. I'm glad I'm not doing Surely you'd have to learn Italian as part your version. think one of the guys is learning Italian. All of you would have to learn Italian. You'd be mental. Yeah. Can you imagine trying to buy all your electrical stuff? Oh, it'd be hell. Would it be different Europe? Oh, God. No idea. It's different in America and stuff. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, it's a different point. It must be all slightly different. Usually it's slightly different colours as well. don't have the nude, like the brown and the blue and stuff, but I'm sort of going off making this up. yeah i' like Don't back me on this, but in my head it feels like I'm right.

Speaker: You've got to think they must have like different regulations. I feel like we're quite strict with stuff, which is really good. yeah like Our sockets for like kids' electric groups are just like amazing. When everyone puts those plastic things in their sockets, yeah I'm like, why are you bothering? If you've got new, they're just amazing in country. just can't.

Speaker: Don't take this as well. You can't electrocute yourself, I don't think. Unless you're shoving like a knife in there. yeah You're just with your hands. yeah you just can't. They're just designed so well. and I don't think other countries are like a strict with that sort of thing. No.

Speaker: But yeah, that's that's all I'm going on. Don't take anything I just said as anything. Don't go touching anything. have to get Emily in to do her like legal jargon so you're like not liable with someone. Well, she does wheels and probates. So maybe you should, if you touch it, speak to her first. Yeah, yeah. then touch it and then you're covered. You're going to kill yourself and make sure you've visited Emily Morris. I've just ruined my career and her career. I just need to take out you as I do the final one. My fledgling career is already going down the path.

Speaker: Yeah. But yeah, think that's it, mate, for me this week. Yeah, same here. If we've actually got emails, believe it or not, to go through and we just never run out. oh I had nothing to talk about. We've done like 50 odd minutes. Just rabbited on. So next time I'll have to do something. Yeah, and maybe i've got my screwdriver by then. Yeah, that's it, yeah. I'll just be in here. Have you used the air balloon there? That'll be our next guest. Next screwdriver. Never used. Yeah, we actually are in talks with some good guests as well.
