Speaker: Welcome back to Based on a Book, the podcast that chooses chaos every time. I'm Carrie, the romance enthusiast. I'm Lindsay, your resident horror lover. And I'm Crystal, your sci-fi guide.
Speaker: Season four officially kicks off February 5th and runs all the way through June 25th. And trust us, this season is big. We're starting February by Braving the Moors with Withering Heights, just in time to emotionally prepare for the new adaptation dropping on Valentine's Day.
Speaker: We're doing this Pride and Prejudice style. Each of us will be watching a different adaptation, then comparing all three. I'm covering the 1939 film. I've got the 1998 version.
Speaker: And I'm tackling the 2009 miniseries. And February doesn't stop there because it's also listener submission month. We each selected title from a list of suggestions sent in by our listeners. I'm covering Nimona by N.D. Stevenson in its 2023 film submitted Roe.
Speaker: I'm taking on The Shining by Stephen King and the 1980 film submitted by Hannah from Horror Hour with the Hannahs. And I'm covering Persuasion by Jane Austen submitted by Ashley Hughes.
Speaker: Once again, with each host covering a different adaptation, the 1995 film, the BBC movie and the twenty twenty two netflix series Then it's Made of Madness March, and we're going all in.
Speaker: We're reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and watching 12 different adaptations. Yes, 12. twelve We're putting them head to head in a tournament style bracket to crown the ultimate Frankenstein adaptation.
Speaker: And we're following it up with Poor Things by Aleister Gray and its 2023 film. April is Anything Goes April. which means the rules loosen up.
Speaker: The hosts get more freedom, more variety, and more unexpected picks. We're basically going off vibes. May and June are about finishing what we started. We're wrapping up the 50 Shades series, including the books from Christian Grey's perspective, Grey, Darker, and Freed.
Speaker: I'm closing out his dark materials with the amber spyglass. And I'm dedicating all of June to the Hunger Games universe, covering Mockingjay, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Sunrise on the Reaping.
