A TOWN CALLED MALICE: A family of crooks from London absconds to Spain's Costa del Sol in the early 1980s

Gene Lord (Jack Rowan) flees to Spain in the early '80s with his girlfriend Cindy (Tahirah Sharif) to avoid arrest. The two quickly find themselves in the local underworld, and when the other Lords join them on the Costa del Sol, the crime family recognizes the opportunity: in the sunny south, they scent a whole new lucrative business that promises a golden future.

Pulsating 80s soundtrack

The eight-part Sky Original series is a mix of crime thriller and family saga, accompanied by a pulsating 80s soundtrack. Nick Love is creator and head writer of A TOWN CALLED MALICE. The film was directed by Jamie Donoughue. The title A TOWN CALLED MALICE refers to the song of the same name by the British band "The Jam." It reached number one on the British singles chart in February 1982.

Interview with cult start Martha Plimpton & Eliza Butterworth

Martha Plimpton is famous for her roles in iconic 80s movies like The Goonies and Parenthood. She also won an Emmy for her role as attorney Patty Nyholm in The Good Wife. Together with Eliza Butterworth (The Last Kingdom), she came into the "SerienSprechzimmer" and answered all my questions about the new series. You can listen to the interview here!
