Meet the Hosts

00:00:47
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Eberron Renew, the D&D 5th edition actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I'm your dungeon master Eric.
00:00:54
Speaker
I'm Philip. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. And welcome to another

Emotional Challenges for Beric and Dex

00:00:58
Speaker
episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time? All of the emotionally difficult things in barracks life happened and fell on him simultaneously. Yeah. And, and, and, and Dex was also present for that. And Booyah was physically. Yeah. Who else got the intelligence of a rock?
00:01:23
Speaker
Yes, I mean, all we know for sure is that Beric has completed the set. The Ravens. Okay, so the Ravens body she was currently and definitely died, but we don't. Necessarily think the Raven is done. The year of it all.
00:01:47
Speaker
Is still difficult. The lyric of it all. I mean, I don't know. Here's what I get that all we know for sure. Therex got all the packs. We don't know what that means. And Booyah is a shell. Well, in a shell. Booyah is not Booyah. Booyah is a cave goblin.
00:02:16
Speaker
I mean Booyah is basically a pet like

Booyah's Dilemma

00:02:19
Speaker
he can understand allies and enemies but he cannot understand language he cannot like just basic basic things and he has lost all of his magical ability yes yes well I don't think he's lost it he just doesn't know how to use it
00:02:35
Speaker
Fair, functionally, it is gone. But honestly, I like that idea better. Oh man, I hope it doesn't turn to some wild magic thing where he accidentally starts magic-ing. Stop giving people ideas. If I had thought of it, he had thought of it. No. So, Eric has finished an emotionally racking conversation with his mother, and now Booyah's gone.
00:03:02
Speaker
Hooray. And I believe the episode ended with me noticing Booyah had gone. So I guess I say, uh, uh, Rick record. Did you see, did you see where Booyah went? Uh, Rickards,

Emerald Claw's Mission

00:03:19
Speaker
uh, kind of sitting on a rock, uh, like gathering himself and quickly perks up and looks around like, Oh, uh, no.
00:03:32
Speaker
Well, OK. You had one job, Rickard. Did I? Don't be hoping, but on Booyah duty. We never did explicitly give Rickard a job. Not that I think that we're able to. Anyway, we should go find Booyah, but the Emerald Claw are loading up onto their airship, by the way. With.
00:04:01
Speaker
Oh my god, I've lost his name. Daedric Benar. Thank you, Daedric. Like, as well, or? Oh yeah, yeah, he's with them. Yeah. So, I mean, he's still on the ground kind of directing the few, I mean, there are only, I mean, you could easily count, there are five troops in addition to Daedric that were just kind of back with him before the dragon released the noxious gas on the battlefield and wiped everybody out.
00:04:31
Speaker
a sign of the elf woman? No, she completely disappeared. Okay. I mean, I'm concerned that Booyah is gone. So I think like the fact that Daedric and his crew are packing up to go, they came here for a thing and it's over. So I mean, I don't have any, I don't have any goodbyes to give. Uh,
00:05:00
Speaker
Eric has also noticed we has gone. He does go over to Daedric. Daedric. He kind of looks as you call out his name and turns away from his men and extends a hand with a warm smile.
00:05:25
Speaker
Eric shakes his hand, doesn't smile. Thank you for coming. I'm sorry about you, man. They all knew the... They all knew that duty. There was a woman with you. What happened to her?
00:05:53
Speaker
Oh, her magic would have allowed her to return from where she came once it was time for her to go. What did

Booyah's Perilous Encounter

00:06:05
Speaker
she do to the dragon?
00:06:16
Speaker
And he kind of looks at the ground and pauses for a moment. You can tell that he's making some calculations in his head and then returned your gaze. And you obviously saw that the dragon was not as it once was in life. And she took back a gift that she had bestowed a long time ago.
00:06:47
Speaker
I see. Who is she? He smirks and that will take far more explanation than I have time to give. I see.
00:07:13
Speaker
Again, thank you for coming and showing up. Good luck. Good luck to YouTube. I know that you have a long road ahead, and if you need anything, perhaps I will dream of you once again. Eric just nods.
00:07:43
Speaker
It turns to go. Okay. I chose not to do this in the moment, but during that conversation in the background, you definitely heard. Booyah. Hey buddy, Booyah. Where? Real quick, just a bit of housekeeping, just so I know, because if we were at a table, I could just look at your character sheets. Where's everybody at hit point wise?
00:08:08
Speaker
Has 30, but he's regaining a D six every six seconds. So I don't know how long that conversation was, but okay. I'm at one 24. I'm below half, but just a touch. I'm at 61. I guess that's actually just above half. Pardon me. You all can treat this as a short rest if you need to as well. Okay. Oh, I need to pull out another Dyson.
00:08:40
Speaker
Was it planning on hitting us? And Bear could shield Orianna, so she's fine. Sorry for all those fun sounds of getting other dice out of the way. Okay. Um, Booyah. Give me a either survival or nature check. Okay.
00:09:11
Speaker
Okay, so we jokingly talked about Booyah being essentially reduced down to the intelligence level of a pet, so I'm going to take that and kind of run with it.
00:09:22
Speaker
So you're sniffing in the air, you kind of wandered off following a scent trail that you picked up on as everybody was kind of licking their wounds and getting back on their feet. And you get right on that scent trail and you begin kind of running towards this delicious scent that you've picked up on.
00:09:48
Speaker
Okay, I would like, okay, he's wearing, he's wearing bright white armor and we are not in a bright white area. I would like to make a perception check to see if I just catch him. Okay, yeah, go ahead and give me a perception check. Okay, and this is natural setting, right? So I get the advantage? Yes. Okay, that's gonna be,
00:10:16
Speaker
36 season, everything. And then some Booyah, what's your speed? Um, 30 feet, 30 feet. So that's 39. No idea how close we were when he started taking off. So if we were too far, 30 feet per six seconds.
00:10:42
Speaker
Um, that's so fast. I feel like I might be an idiot. That might not be very fast at all. Um, so that's 300 feet per minute.
00:10:56
Speaker
So that means Booyah has covered 1500 feet, essentially. So yeah, I will say that you you're calling out his name and scanning the horizon because it's a fairly big island that you're on. And you see over the crest of a hill beyond the battlefield, kind of where the ravens troops were coming from, where those portals had opened up.
00:11:21
Speaker
You see Booyah dip behind the crest of a hill over there about 1,500 feet away. I'm already heading that way. Heels clicked going. Okay. Do you call that to let Barrick know? Yeah, I would just say, hey, I see him. I'm going to go get him. I mean, he can follow if he'd like. I'm going to outpace him, but he's probably got something. How fast are you moving per round now?
00:11:48
Speaker
Well, just to catch up to him, I clicked my hills, and I'm moving 80 feet around. No, sorry. No, it'd be more than that, right? Boots double the speed. I've got a 40, oh, so per round, I guess technically I got 240 feet around. 240 feet around? Yeah, nice. Is Booyah, you said Booyah's running now too? I mean, you're just going your normal speed. Okay. Yeah.
00:12:16
Speaker
Because you're not actively chasing anything, you're just following a scent. So Orianna takes off running decks, not as fast because she doesn't have haste, but she runs at normal deck speed. And in order to keep up, Barak will cast Far Step, which for the next minute as a bonus action he can
00:12:40
Speaker
teleport 60 feet begins running. And then after running and then dashing as a bonus type, he just amps 60 feet on, uh, just sort of disappearing into the ether and reappearing. Thanks. That means you can cover what? 120 feet. Yeah. So I can keep up with Orianna now. Okay.
00:13:01
Speaker
For a minute. For one minute. So I'm going to say it will only take you all a short time to reach the crest of that hill. Booyah, you kind of give me a athletics check. 13.
00:13:29
Speaker
OK, so you just barely managed to keep your your footing as you like come over the crest of this hill. There's a large rock sticking out of the ground and you kind of hit your foot on it, but you managed to keep keep your feet as you go down this hill. The smell is getting stronger and stronger as you go around this small hill.
00:13:53
Speaker
And you you see a like you see the source of the smell, you see a large pile of vegetation with like fruit and vegetable all kind of like brought together. So there's a lot of smells. It's very strong and potent to a more refined palate. They might not think it's a great smell, but it does smell. So there's there's just a giant
00:14:23
Speaker
fruit salad no and it's it's steaming it's been steamed um because oh wait which what if you'll let me finish you will know you will understand it's not just a random steaming fruit salad in the middle of a field that's a very deliberate steaming that would be ridiculous
00:14:49
Speaker
You see the source of this steaming fruit salad on the coast, not in the middle of a field. You see a head turned to look at you that's sticking up out of the water and like half of its body is up on the shore.
00:15:08
Speaker
And it's clear that it's just used its steam breath to steam these vegetables and fruits. And I mean, you wouldn't have any context for what it is. So I'm just describe it's a massive creature that turns to look at you. It doesn't seem to immediately like. Like go into attack stance, but it's definitely eyeing you as you run this corner.
00:15:34
Speaker
I'm gonna let you make the call based on Booyah base instincts. This smells like good food to Booyah that he would want to eat.
00:15:47
Speaker
So with Booyah. Yeah, Booyah's going to go for the food. OK. He's going to go for a bite. OK, so I'm thinking that's what a pet would do. It's about 50 feet. So I'm going to say is Booyah is reaching the steaming pile of fruit and vegetables.
00:16:12
Speaker
the decks you're the first around the corner obviously and you stop to see um hi i'm gonna say you would know what these are you've traveled at the sea long enough you would have heard stories from the the tales on the high seas um you see buya approaching the vegetative horde of a dragon turtle
00:16:34
Speaker
that has gone up on shore. And it's starting to rear back as Booyah reaches its food pile and is about to unleash its steam breath on Booyah.
00:16:46
Speaker
okay so it's

The Dragon Turtle Escape Plan

00:16:47
Speaker
go it is it is oh jeez come on okay what well because i was okay i had a thought but it's not i mean if he's really like he's about to do it like he is in yes yes i mean i what what are you thinking what do you want my my thought was i was going to try to trip booyah because i can do that with the ribbon weave before he gets to actually touching the hoard
00:17:11
Speaker
But if the turtle is already about to attack him, I don't want to put it. I don't want to make him. Yeah. Yeah. You can see that the dragon turtle feels like its territory has been encroached upon enough to where it views Booyah as a threat.
00:17:25
Speaker
You do note I'll say you traveled across the sea enough. You may have even seen a dragon turtle come up out of the water. This one is particularly small for a dragon turtle. It's not the massive ones that you've heard tail like the gargantuan ones that can swallow an entire ship. This one's actually only about the size of like
00:17:49
Speaker
a large ox like it seems to be a smaller breed of dragon turtle so okay I mean that doesn't do a lot to affect the fact that he's about to steam him in his shell so I can't can I can I try to to grab like
00:18:09
Speaker
Am I far too far away to try to grab and like do a deck save or something to try to get us both out of the spray? Um, no, you, you can though, give me an initiative role. And if you roll high enough to go come before the dragon turtle, which you probably will, um, then we can have a conversation. Okay. All right. Well, that is a 26.
00:18:38
Speaker
Um, I'm going to say that the, um, Orianna and Barrick, you all are just basically, you'll be able to use your movement to get on the scene. Sound fair? Okay. Uh, so Booyah initiative. 22. 22. Barrick. 15. Orianna.
00:19:03
Speaker
17. Surprising, absolutely nobody. Dex, you're up first. Okay, so let's talk. Can I do the thing I said or do I just need to attack the dragon turtle? I will let you use your action to give Booyah advantage on his saving throw against the steam breath by trying to pull him out of harm's way.
00:19:31
Speaker
Yeah, I need to do that. OK, so I will forgo my action to allow Booyah. Yeah, or you're saying basically Booyah is going to roll to see if I'm successfully able to or how to spell it out for me. Basically, Booyah is going is in in range of this steam breath, so.
00:19:55
Speaker
on the dragon turtle's turn Booyah is going to have to make a saving throw against it to take either full damage or half damage I'm saying that you can use your action to grant him advantage when that time comes and he has to make that roll yeah I'll do that then so I guess what Dex is going to do is he's going to
00:20:21
Speaker
run up and he's going to see the situation, see that the dragon turtle is already poised to to spread and he's just going to yell, Booya, run. Because I have to, you know, he can't understand. I don't know. He can't understand me. Yeah, that's it. OK, that's that's what Dex does. And he stands there with his thumb in his ear like an idiot, I guess, the way he's starting to come around again. Booya turns and grins at you.
00:20:50
Speaker
and goes back to the food. I can't see it. So yeah, it is your turn. So are you just making way for the food? You just heard, you've heard the voice of a familiar friend. Just, you can't understand what he said. Right. Yeah. I turned and grinned in the direction and going for the food. Okay. Uh, Oriana.
00:21:16
Speaker
I haven't got to the food yet. Yeah. Yeah. You, you reach the food. Sorry. Yeah. You're, you're there. Okay. What would you like? Hey boys, gonna pick something and start munching. Okay. You, you grab a wonderful steamed mango and you start chomping into it. Orianna, can we see what's happening? How far away from this? You're using your movement to round the corner to where Dex is so you can see what's going on.
00:21:45
Speaker
and I round the corner where Dex is. Okay, so you can see. Orianna will stand there dumbfounded at the end ponder.
00:22:01
Speaker
Who gathered all of this fruit and vegetables, the dragon turtle to steam, and how did they do so safely while there was a dragon living on this island? And why isn't that dragon the enemy of the dragon turtle and all of the other myriad of questions? And also, what in the world is wrong with Booyah?
00:22:20
Speaker
Okay. So Orianda will ponder the numerous deep questions that the situation causes, uh, for her action herself. And perhaps nothing, nothing useful that she can do here. The myriad of questions that herself and perhaps, uh, many other people who may be bearing witness to this scenario might also have, um, okay. Does Barrick do the same thing? Cause it is Barrick's turn. No, uh, Barrick will use his action. Barrick gets around the corner, sees this.
00:22:47
Speaker
Clearly something is wrong with Booyah. Is that fair?
00:22:51
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, yeah, you've known Booyah long enough to know that even this is a bit far. Booyah is not behaving samely or safely at the moment. How far am I from Booyah? It seems like he's operating at max Booyah right now. Like, it's not normal, but not out of character. But it's definitely bad. You are about, I would say, 60 feet away from where Booyah is.
00:23:20
Speaker
Well, that is ideal, in fact. I'm going to spend my key points to make use of my forceful hand ability. So Beric rounds the corner, sees this, just kind of numb from all the wonders of that, does not pause to contemplate the many questions.
00:23:47
Speaker
It reaches out and the air sort of shimmer. His hand to Booyah and Booyah feels enormous fingers wrap around him. And I'm assuming being in his current state, Booyah will need to make a strength saving throw. Wait, no, not a saving throw. It's just a strength check. It's just an opposed check against the hand.
00:24:11
Speaker
17. 17. No wait, you said a saving throw. No, no, not a saving throw. Just a second check. Yeah, 13. No wait, 13. 17. Wow, I just lost control of that die entirely. Okay. 17. And we decided that a... Oh, there it is. It's plus eight. Okay. So... Well, that is 19.
00:24:42
Speaker
Okay. So Booyah is grappled. And as part of that bonus action, I can move the hand 60 feet. Okay. So Beric sort of reaches out and Booyah just sort of lifts off the ground and is grasped. And Beric sort of gesture shifts a little bit and Booyah begins to drift back towards him.
00:25:15
Speaker
Stuckling. Stuckling all the way. Sure, sure. Stuckling. I holding on tight to that steamed mango. I should have known that Barak would have some magic craft to handle Booyan. I should have just hit the turtle. Why? Why? Why would you do that?
00:25:30
Speaker
Okay, so the turtle follows Booyah. Eric is shouting, everybody. Everybody what? Get out. So the dragon turtle follows Booyah, seeing Booyah still clutching onto that steamed mango. So I guess now that the positioning has changed, how long has Booyah grappled?
00:26:00
Speaker
until he escapes or I lose concentration or I let the spell go. Just so Jeff's action isn't totally wasted, Booyah, you don't have disadvantage now on this role as you would otherwise being grappled. So I need now everybody to make me a constitution saving throw. Sure, sure.
00:26:50
Speaker
I'll see your eight and I'll drop you to seven.
00:26:56
Speaker
And Rickard hasn't rounded the corner yet, so Rickard's good. Rickard's a long way back there. Okay, so Beric is the only one not taking full damage. What is happening? Like, what's the turtle doing? I will explain momentarily. Okay.
00:27:28
Speaker
Uh, before you get into narrating what's happening, I have a mechanical question here. Yes. The hand has hit points and an armor class, but it does not have any statistics for saving throws. Interesting. So I don't know what to do. It's got a strength stat and it's got a dexterity stat, but it does not. I'm not given any additional stats for it. So I don't know how this operates here. It has hit points. Yep.
00:27:59
Speaker
Do the hit points increase as you level? They're equal to my maximum hit points. So it's got lots of hit points. It can probably take this hit, but I just don't know how to make a saving throw on its part. I would say, do you get any bonuses to Constitution saving throws?
00:28:25
Speaker
I have, I'm proficient in them. Um, so just roll a constitution saving throw for it without the proficiency using your constitution stat. Okay. 15. Okay. Um, so it will take full damage as well. Um, so the dragon turtle still being, uh,
00:28:48
Speaker
halfway in the water kind of rears back, and as it opens its giant mouth, water from the sea floods into it, and you see fire in the back of its throat form, but as it exhales, as you would expect a dragon to breathe fire, just boiling hot steam erupts out of its mouth in a cone and just hits all of you, just so, so hard and so hot.
00:29:18
Speaker
we get it okay so this is fire damage um and everybody but barrick takes 45 fire damage night uh barrick you take half okay i seriously just rolled to regain 48 points
00:29:42
Speaker
Here's the thing like I thought about is like, well, they could just find Booyah, but that seems boring. So what can I have

Escaping and Returning to the Ship

00:29:48
Speaker
Booyah find? And then the dragon turtle is going to use its movement to climb up out of the water and begin charging towards you all.
00:30:08
Speaker
So, yeah. And who amongst us speaks Draconic? I think Barrick does. Barrick does because he spoke to the... Yes, Barrick does.
00:30:24
Speaker
Um, so while the rest of you hear this grunting and growling, um, Barrick, you hear this dragon turtle emerging out of the sea charging towards you all saying, Oh my God. Um, it is now Rickard's turn. Wow. Rickard's shouting from the distance. I'm coming.
00:30:51
Speaker
Um, okay. We're back around the decks. I guess I'm going to hit this turtle. No way. Barrick has been shouting. Like honestly. Okay. Yes. Barrick has been shouting. Everyone get out of here.
00:31:17
Speaker
Okay, and I look and I see it looks to Dex like Barak has Booyah handled.
00:31:22
Speaker
Where, how much closer to this turtle am I now? Then like how, where's Barrick? Where am I? Where's the turtle? Or Barrick and Orianna, right? The turtle is about 40 feet away from you charging at you. Everybody else is bunched up together, um, around the corner of this, this small hill. Is he charging at me or is he charging at Booyah? He's charging at all. I mean, you all are together. So he's turning together. Okay. Okay. I didn't realize that we were all still together. I thought I'd gotten considerably ahead of them. I didn't realize I stopped kind of when I rounded the corner.
00:31:57
Speaker
Okay, I hear like we can't hold movement, can we? Nope. Okay, here's here's son of a. Alright, then I'm going to.
00:32:18
Speaker
Riddle me this, we can't hold movement, but can I hold my action and then when it's time to do it, let my action be to dash. You can ready an action with a specified trigger. Right. And that's what I mean. Like I want to, I don't want to just take off cause I'll leave them all in the dust. And I've done that before, not of my own volition and it's never been great. Dash is an action. So you could use your movement and hold dash.
00:32:44
Speaker
Okay, so the boots are clicked off, by the way, as soon as I got to this and saw this thing that clicked the boots off. So I'm going to use my movement of 40 feet to get, I guess, back out of the clearing, but I'm going to hold an action, ready an action, which will be to dash for when they get, they catch up with me and it kind of, it feels,
00:33:07
Speaker
feels clear that, you know, Booyah is ensnared in this thing and we're gonna all get away together. Okay. Kind of idea. So that's what I'm doing, I guess. Okay. Booyah is mad.
00:33:26
Speaker
So does Booyah get a check to escape? He's grappled so he can make a strength for dexterity opposed by the hand strings to try and escape. Could I fire my hand crossbow from the top of my shoulder? At what? The turtle. Yeah.
00:33:51
Speaker
It just baked him. That's true. He's upset. He thinks it wants to take his fruit. Go ahead and give me a roll. You can yell all you want, Barry. They don't understand you. So if I caused me enough damage to make him unconscious, that would be cool, right? It wouldn't be cool. Not very chill of you, Barry.
00:34:21
Speaker
That's going to be 27. That is definitely a hit. 13 points. 13 points of damage, OK. And we are still eating on the mango, whatever's left of it. No, you are gripped in a giant force hand.
00:34:50
Speaker
I don't have one hand. I can grasp a huge or smaller creature. You are contained in a fist of invisible.
00:35:04
Speaker
So, yeah, the crossbow bolt shoots from your shoulder and hits right in between the turtle's neck and its shell, and it just lets out a whale as it begins furiously continuing to charge at you.
00:35:28
Speaker
And Barak, you hear in the sounds of its gluttural roars to everybody else, you hear it exclaim, trespasses, I will steam your bones clean. What's Orianna gonna do?
00:36:00
Speaker
What is the check you would like to be made to see whether she abides by barracks very clear desire for turn around and run at full speed in the other direction so we can all just go away from here. Give

Restoring Booyah?

00:36:16
Speaker
me just a straight. Up wisdom check. She's pretty good at that is cocked.
00:36:27
Speaker
is better in any case than either of the options. So that is 19. I'll say she, she goes to make a move to attack, but then thinks better of it. Uh, and you can, yeah, she, she'll heed Barrack's words. Okay. Orianna turns and runs following decks. Okay. Barrack.
00:37:06
Speaker
Eric shouts in. OK, do I know? Do I know anything about dragon turtles? Is this a thing? Am I just totally at a loss? I would say you didn't really study like sea travel that much or seafaring. So is this is this a check? Is this just a like there's a giant horrible turtle chasing me. Give me a nature check.
00:37:36
Speaker
You sure it's not Arcana? Dragons or magic? Oh, that's okay. 19. I will say that you've read about dragon turtles, so. Okay. Enough to know that this is also a small one. Okay. Eric calls out loudly in Draconic.
00:38:01
Speaker
Our friend is bewitched. Please forgive this imposition and enjoy your meal. And I will hang on. Can I do this with a stupid unwilling target? One. Billing creature. I suppose Booyah is not willing to be teleported by me.
00:38:29
Speaker
I don't, I don't know that he would know the difference. I mean, he knows I'm his friend, right? Right. Okay. Uh, well, Barrick wouldn't know the nature of what's going on with Booyah anyway, so that would be metagini. Uh, Barrick drops Booyah, reaches out, grabs Booyah's hand and I'm going to cast Dimension Door. Okay.
00:39:02
Speaker
Assuming Booyah is willing, he and I will now teleport 500 feet away. I don't see him resisting that, really. He's got his food. I mean, he's intent on shooting that thing in front of him that's trying to get his mango.
00:39:24
Speaker
But I don't see him like trying to resist. But also, I mean, this thing is much bigger than you are, Booyah. And the only reason you approached in the first place is it didn't seem threatening. So now it is threatening. Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, yeah. And it's bigger than Booyah. So I think his self preservation would probably kick in. OK. So, yeah, you all bamf away.
00:39:50
Speaker
Dex, you're around the corner waiting for Beric and Booyah. Orianna comes around the corner, so. Not alone. Are they coming? Beric said go. Yes, he did. All right.
00:40:15
Speaker
I mean, what's the nature of the terrain around the corner? They're going to see me and Booyah up here, you know, a few hundred feet away. And that's exactly like I can use half my movement probably to get to where I can see if you guys are still coming. Yeah. And what you can poke your head around the well, hold on. It's not your turn yet. Barrick is you and Booyah up here and then
00:40:41
Speaker
Dex, Orianna, and kind of Rickard, he's kind of in between where you all are. You all just hear this bellowing scream whale roar from this dragon turtle. Beric, you can hear a voice
00:40:58
Speaker
just over the horizon screaming thief over and over and over. We hates it forever. Yes. So that's what you can hear. Beric feels that this dragon turtle is massively overreacting to the loss of a single mango from its giant fruit salad. Well, Adex would tell you if you were even nearby that it's pretty small dragon. It's probably just having a tantrum. Right.
00:41:25
Speaker
Well, I'm trying hard to figure out how he would act. Like, what would he do? So. Yeah, you the Dragon Turtles no longer pursuing not seeing any of the threats. So you all can begin the journey to reconvene if you so to bear. Eric is running, pulling Booyah along because he does not know how fast the Dragon.
00:41:54
Speaker
He doesn't know how far a dragon turtle will chase a mango sieve. For the rest of its days. And so he's on the speaking stone saying, Chase, we're going to need to pick up rather quickly. We're being pursued by a dragon turtle. And hearing that, Dex says, don't worry, they can't fly.
00:42:18
Speaker
But we're on the ground, Dex. I'm just saying he should not be worried to come in, come closer because they can't fly. Dex is giving the one thing he knows anything about is the dragon turtles he's heard of on the sea. Don't fly. Fair? Yes. It would be hilarious to watch them. All right. Well,
00:42:43
Speaker
I'll come get you. Thank you, Jason. Bingity-bing-bing. I did it. We're going to workshop that catchphrase. Ding, ding, ding, ding. OK. Wow.
00:43:05
Speaker
So you see borrowed time begin descending and headed your way. Dex, Orianna, Rickard, you all also see borrowed time headed in the direction of you can now see Beric and Booyah in the middle of the field, about 500 feet ahead of you. And

Beric's Revelation about the Silver Flame

00:43:26
Speaker
seeing the ship coming in, Beric now stops, seeing the ship coming in, turns and says, Booyah, what in all nine hells are you doing?
00:43:37
Speaker
Booyah looks up at Beric and just gets this stupid grin on his face and takes a bite of mango. Booyah? Booyah, you could have gotten us all killed. What are you? What? Why? Why? Then he just cocks his head like he doesn't understand what you're saying. Booyah, this is not amusing in the least bit.
00:44:13
Speaker
Yeah. Uh-huh. Hey. Booyah, if you can understand me, put up one finger and I don't mind it. I just say it. Booyah looks and just kind of cocks his head.
00:44:39
Speaker
Oh. This is. God. Yes, it seems bad. Is there anything weird about Booyah's aura? Um, I mean, it's not like it's a persistent spell on him or anything, so I don't think so. You would notice that his halo is not up and he usually has his halo up.
00:45:07
Speaker
Especially if they've, you know, we've been in combat. Okay, so. I can think I mean, obviously. This has to be a result of something that happened in the fight because he was fine before. Is it reasonable for back to assume.
00:45:31
Speaker
There must have, it has to be magic. Booyah was not, as far as we know, struck dramatically on the head. As far as you know, Booyah never got into the battle. Right. So nothing normal should have caused this. So it must be magic of some kind. So can I make an arcana check to see if I know of a magic that does this?
00:46:01
Speaker
Yes, it's it's an eighth level spell so it's gonna be remarkably in not a school of magic so that it is a warlock spell That's true yeah, go ahead and give me give me a roll, okay Okay, I got a 16 plus 11 so 27 yeah, that's probably enough to to be able to figure out what caused it and
00:46:27
Speaker
I mean, a spell that makes you dumb. That's, you know, not that many. Who finishes off his mango and attempts to climb up decks. For what purpose? I mean, that's that's normal, at least. All right. So I think this is a spell.
00:46:58
Speaker
that essentially just wiped his intelligence out. I mean, yeah, that makes sense because like, I mean, I've seen Booyah get his bell rung pretty hard. It's never, you know, knocked him this way. So while Dex is saying that he's pushing down on Booyah's
00:47:26
Speaker
I can't do anything about it. Nothing I can cast will undo this. We're going to need some fairly powerful healing rest restorative magic. I mean, this is not the first time we've had to do this thing. Um, perhaps in gratitude for our, as far as they know, killing the dragon. Um,
00:47:57
Speaker
The irony will be willing to help with this. Yeah, I mean. You know, it's one of those things where you. How do I say this? If we ask them to help with this, who knows in what manner they will feel as though they have helped.
00:48:23
Speaker
Does that make sense? Like what are the way if I, if I knew this was the sort of thing that the options where you're afflicted or you're healed, but this could be like, Oh, well, we made him not like that anymore because now he's one of us and that's terrifying. I would know that we wouldn't do that because they're, I mean, I assume they're not going to, you know, take him from us by force and do something horrible to him. I would assume that there's some kind of conversation we can have.
00:48:47
Speaker
Man, I love that you can still assume things. Very few things. Very few. No, yeah, we got to get this horn back to them anyway, right? Yes. And the three of us are all allowed to head in there. So yeah, I say we bring the horn back and we show them what happened. We tell them we took care of the thing that they needed for us to take care of. And yes, hopefully some of the... Yeah. What do you want? We're supposed to bring the horn back to...
00:49:19
Speaker
You were not given an invite back into the Undying Court. I apologize. In any case, we can have this conversation with her. Let's get him on the ship so that he doesn't wander off again. Yeah, I mean, I have to assume that
00:49:40
Speaker
He seems to be following his, you know, base or instincts. And one of those would be, don't fall off the boat. So I think once we get him on there, we'll be okay. Maybe we'll keep him below deck just in case. In as much as we can. I'm down for that. Yeah. Yes. I will just provide him with something to eat and give him a puzzle box.
00:50:06
Speaker
And they make these things where it's really hard to get at the side of, uh, some kind of container and, uh, looking for cats. So we get back on borrowed time. Okay. Uh, so yeah, you all have, uh, climbed back on board. Jace is there awaiting you all. Um, looks like things got pretty, uh, pretty hairy down there.
00:50:35
Speaker
That would be one way to describe it. We need to go back to. Plus Taylor. Alrighty, am I saying that right? I feel like I'm saying that wrong. I think it's PLS to layer to where there is. Yep. Alrighty, well we will head that way. Anything you all would like to do on the journey? Back to the port city.
00:51:05
Speaker
Uh, once Booyah is secured, Barak goes into his room and shuts the door and just lays on the floor and stares at the ceiling. Yeah. I don't

Episode Conclusion and Social Media

00:51:13
Speaker
think Dex does much different. Uh, this would be a short rest. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Cause I need to roll all the rest of the hit dice that I saved just in case we encountered something. Actually, well, while he's doing that, Barak will. Summon curse. Uh, okay. Well.
00:51:39
Speaker
Hello, Berwick. Yes. What can I do for you? How do you? I feel restored. Well, that's good.
00:52:07
Speaker
Yes, it is. So next steps.
00:52:20
Speaker
We need, obviously, to find a point of entry for Dalqor, which you already knew. In theory, we're going to get some help from the dragons about that. Yes, so probably next best steps would be to meet with them and figure out what that assistance will look like.
00:52:48
Speaker
Where once our only person who can communicate over long ranges isn't a drooling. Nothing, whatever he is, I don't know what's going on. Once we are restored, we can perhaps communicate with them.
00:53:11
Speaker
Um, very well. Um, so basically, um, the, the way that, um, this needs to work. Um, there's an anchor point for me on this plane that's been created and essentially the, the energy
00:53:37
Speaker
of that once you are on Dal Kor and activate the pact, all of the energy contained in that will release into Dal Kor and then essentially it is
00:53:57
Speaker
up to you at that point as to what that energy will do. Either bringing about the, essentially the apocalypse on Dal Kor and resurrection of the plane or wiping out all of the quarry. And the resurrection of the plane is restarting this cycle we've heard about.
00:54:26
Speaker
Well, it's a renewal of the cycle and then essentially stopping the cycle, essentially.
00:54:40
Speaker
which is what the Dreaming Dark has been seeking to do to preserve their evil machinations. But we can stop them and show them the light as it were and restore them to being a plane that would ally itself with Eberron as opposed to seek to control it.
00:55:10
Speaker
Fair enough. Well, that sounds simple, I suppose.
00:55:21
Speaker
You would suppose that. The one caveat is that the conflagration having served its purpose will cease to be anchored in any one place again. It will be restored to the way it was prior to the formation of the pact. Now, am I about to
00:55:52
Speaker
dislocate the silver flame in Flame Keep. Because you have implied that there is a connection between this conflagration and the silver flame. And I just want to know that you're not telling me that I'm about to destroy the connection between humanity and the silver flame.
00:56:21
Speaker
There's not a connection between the silver flame and the conflagration. Oh. The silver flame is the conflagration. Right. So. The conflagration will continue to exist better.
00:56:51
Speaker
Conflagration is not, as I've already said, the silver flame is an anchor point for the energy of one part of the conflagration. You, ironically, are the other anchor point. Am I going to destroy that anchor point? You won't destroy it, it just won't be necessary anymore. The energy will remove itself from that anchor point.
00:57:19
Speaker
It won't be destroyed. It will still exist. It just won't be in that physical place anymore. What, what I believe you are asking or I will try to answer as best I can. The dogmatic belief in the silver flame.
00:57:48
Speaker
will no longer make sense to people because the silver flame will no longer physically be in flame keep anymore. As you have grown to understand the conflagration, it will never go away and it will still, uh,
00:58:10
Speaker
touch people's lives, empower people to do good or ill, whatever's in their heart. But... I don't know how else I can put it. It's... The...
00:58:44
Speaker
What? Look, I feel like you've been hanging out in my head for a long time now and I feel like that association should make that question irrelevant and unnecessary. I feel like what is fairly obvious. Now, either you've only just remembered this or
00:59:12
Speaker
You've been deliberately not telling me this entire time, but either way. What you're telling me now. Is that I am going to. Bring down the church of the silver flame. Just like that. I'm just going to turn it off.
00:59:39
Speaker
The, I mean, the church will adapt or cease to be. No, it's, it's an either or scenario. And frankly, uh,
00:59:59
Speaker
I do not appreciate the insinuation that I would have been keeping this information from you. I feel like, especially since we've begun gathering a certain number of packs, I have been nothing but forthcoming with you in all of this, because I want to see this done just as badly as you do. I don't know if you've put it together, but I am a intelligent being that is currently anchored
01:00:29
Speaker
in the basement of a church and in your mind. I would very much like to see this done so I can continue existing without being put on a path that I did not decide for myself. So I don't appreciate the insinuation that I would have been keeping this from you for some sick game. A path you didn't decide for yourself. So you are now telling me
01:00:58
Speaker
that the founding story of the Church of the Silver Flame is made up. And also, you're telling me the flame is a being and not a force, which is different from everything I've ever heard. And if you were forced into this, then Tyrone Myron didn't
01:01:39
Speaker
But if my tone is offending you, I apologize, I suppose, but you're currently telling me that everything I have believing is, in fact, a lie, and that I need to bring it all down. And I think you'll forgive me if that is not a particularly encouraging thought.
01:02:08
Speaker
It's not a lie. It's a concept that lacks a clear explanation. The events that are described in your teachings happened in a way, but not in the simplified
01:02:31
Speaker
I swear, if you say from a certain point of view. No, no, no, no. Not in the simplified black and white, good and evil narrative that you were brought up on. Your simple mind can understand. No, but there was a Tiramiron. She just was a pact holder who saw a growing shadow within the conflagration and sought to purify it.
01:03:00
Speaker
But the one great lie, I suppose, of the church is the idea that there's some intelligent demon lord that's corrupting the hearts of otherwise good people.
01:03:23
Speaker
The conflagration is what it is to who uses it. The more that evil rises, the more that the darkness of it all rises. The more good that it is done, the more that the goodness in it rises. It's there, plus the sword go away.
01:03:58
Speaker
and lays on the floor staring at the ceiling? To answer your question, Randy, yes to everything, I suppose. OK. Oh my. So I guess you're both in your rooms just laying up. You're headed for the town. So yes, we can go ahead and say end of episode.
