Lessons from Megamind in Finding Your Voice
00:00:34
Speaker
What is up, Shaping Nation? It is Nick Torres here. And in this episode, it's a little bit of a funky episode, but I'm going to be talking about how the movie Megamind
00:00:45
Speaker
can help you discover your own unique voice. I know this is a crazy episode, but bear with me. So, I was listening to Alex Hormozi, one of his short videos that he was making, and what he was saying in the video was, what makes a star versus a superstar?
00:01:10
Speaker
and when he said that it reminded me of the movie Megamind and more specifically towards the end when Megamind is trying to save the reporter lady from Titan and in this scene Titan is trying to bait Megamind into coming out to save her so Megamind shows up
00:01:36
Speaker
with a huge announcement saying oh you're a villain all right just not a super one and so titan says what's the difference and megaman walks out with his arms all stretched out and he says presentation and i just love that scene so much it is every single time i watch it i just so such a great line presentation and

That's where my point is going to be making right here.
Enhancing Pottery Presentation
00:02:06
Speaker
How can you present your pottery in a way so where it is being able to stand out a little bit so that you are thinking in terms of not just showing your pottery, but you're giving a presentation about your pottery.
00:02:21
Speaker
What are some things that you can add to your pottery so that you can be able to make a presentation to your pottery rather than just showing it? You have to make a presentation. Make it look good. Hey, if you're enjoying this episode, I would really appreciate it if you could share it with one of your friends. I'm sure somebody out there could get some value from this episode. I would really appreciate it if you could share it. Now let's get back to the episode.
Storytelling in Pottery
00:02:48
Speaker
So some ways that I think you can do this are
00:02:51
Speaker
One, you can add different colors into your pottery, into whatever you are making, your sculptures, whatever you're making. That is one super simple way that you can start really start adding presentation. The second way is even easier is to focus on creating better shapes. And when you create better shapes, then you're going to be able to make more
00:03:20
Speaker
of a presentation because your pottery is looking better just by improving the shapes just a little bit. And the last thing that I think that can really help you is a story. How can you incorporate a story into your pottery so that it tells the stories that you are showing your voice through that presentation of the story? If you are able to tell a story with your pottery,
00:03:47
Speaker
Think about how many more people are gonna be that much more interested in your pottery. Not only that, having a story with your pottery allows you to actually have a voice, literally have a voice if you have a story with your pottery.
Nick's Pottery Journey and Listener Q&A
00:04:02
Speaker
Let's say, for example, for me, when I was first learning pottery by myself, I started in high school, but when I was learning pottery by myself, I had a lot of troubles, I couldn't really center
00:04:17
Speaker
that well and I couldn't achieve my goals of making 6 inches and 3 pulls. But what I finally realized was that I needed to slow down. But that didn't happen until I messed up 100 times, 1000 times, whatever. I didn't learn that lesson until I messed up a lot. And that's my story that leads into my pottery as it's progressing each and every time. How can you add a story into your pottery?
