Speaker
I need a different chair. You do. At this point though, it's like you have to keep it because it's a co-host essentially on the podcast. The chairs are squeaking. Yeah. I want one of those ones that you can
00:01:06
Speaker
Like it's got the little thing for your feet where you can sit like cross legged or like put your feet up. I always sit weird in chairs and sitting in this chair makes me feel like I'm like proper. I am with my co-workers like she's super into fitness things and I love that. And like, you know, she inspires me as well. But like, definitely not as hardcore as she is. Well, she surprised me the other day because
00:01:35
Speaker
I sent her this TikTok and it was like this girl who works from home and these are like some cool, like, she's like, these are some cool exercise things that I do to stay in shape while I'm working my desk job. And like one is like the standing mat and then one was like the Bosu ball. And then she had these like stair stepper things and I sent it to her and she was just like, Oh yeah. Um, I have the Bosu ball in my office. She was like, I actually was standing on it in the meeting that we had earlier today. And I was like,
00:02:07
Speaker
What the hell? Because I remember distinctly, it looked like she was just sitting. Didn't look like she was struggling. And I was like, well, you have amazing core strength and I guess I need a Bosu ball because my ass would be surfing USA on that bitch. There's no way. So one story short, I'm going to order a Bosu ball off Amazon and bring it to work.
00:02:36
Speaker
Because I want to get on that level. I think it's really cool. Are those the ones that are like they're flat on the bottom and then like rounded? Or is it like an actual ball? Yeah, it's flat on the bottom. So she puts the ball part on the bottom and then like balances on board. Yeah, on the board part. And I'm just like, I would never have guessed that you were balancing on a fucking Bosu ball. But yeah. Yeah, I definitely.
00:03:06
Speaker
I think also like I have pretty good core strength and I have pretty good balance, but I get distracted a lot. Like, you know, ADD kicks in and I'm like, Oh, what's that? And then I'd like fall over constantly. Oh, before we even start the episode, we have a shout out. We do. We do. Shout out to me. Um, I'm just kidding.
00:03:35
Speaker
Shout out to another Samantha. Yeah, another Samantha. Samantha A is our newest Supercast subscriber. Yay, Samantha.
00:03:47
Speaker
Thank you so much for subscribing to our podcast. We're recording this episode at the beginning of September. So just as an FYI when this releases because it's going to be like weeks later before the shout out is, you know, on the actual episode. We didn't forget. No, we're just trying to get ahead of the game with me moving to another country.
00:04:13
Speaker
And that happening in winter anyways, when we're trying to prep for a new season. So. Yeah. And then just holiday season in general. We're going to be coming up on basically holidays every couple of weeks. Yeah. So it's going to be just a lot anyway. So. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway. So what are we talking about? We'll see you at the same time.
00:04:42
Speaker
Nothing. It's bedtime. It's like I'm going to bed. Bye. That's what we're talking about.

Scorpio Season: An Astrological Deep Dive

00:04:50
Speaker
We're talking about Scorpio season. Scorpio season. I love Scorpio season. This was a fun one to research for me because I don't know
00:05:02
Speaker
I don't have a ton of Scorpios in my life, but the ones I do are like Scorpios true and true. So it was really interesting to read about, you know, just more about their personalities and understand them a little bit more than what we see surface value. I like that I know of, I only know two Scorpios and one of them I don't like and you know her too.
00:05:31
Speaker
And all the negative traits that came up about this, I was like, wow, this is making a lot of sense. Right.
00:05:40
Speaker
And then the other one I adore and all of the positive stuff made a lot of sense too. It just goes to show you. I mean, there's a difference in personalities. You can be any sign and just because you are this sign and this is your sun sign doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to fit all of the characteristics and things that we talk about.
00:06:06
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. So I guess just to get us started, Scorpio is the eighth sign of the Zodiac and they're a fixed water sign. Their season runs from October 23rd to November 22nd.
00:06:19
Speaker
and they're often referred to as the most intense members of the zodiac. Because they're a fixed sign, they're also said to be stubborn, resentful, and capable of holding a grudge, but they're also loyal and determined. Yeah, when I was reading about this, it was talking about how the fixed signs, along with Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius, are really great at manifesting feelings of security, establishing dominance, and many people that are born under a fixed sign.
00:06:49
Speaker
are hardworking, stable, and not afraid of standing up for themselves or defending their position, whether it be popular or not. And then just in general, like regarding water signs, I was reading that, you know, with
00:07:05
Speaker
obviously Scorpio's in the same kind of vein with Pisces and cancer because they're all water signs. They're known for being very tuned in and emotionally intelligent and I guess it's a little bit stronger for Scorpio and a lot of times people will when they talk about Scorpio they'll say that
00:07:23
Speaker
They're essentially the fire sign of the water signs because they, like you were saying, are so intense. Yeah. They're also known as being the detectives of the zodiac, which I thought was hilarious. Scorpio season itself is noted to be a season that's equally masculine and feminine.
00:07:42
Speaker
starting out with the clowns over at The Cut because I couldn't leave them out, I'm probably gonna have to go back to them every Zodiac season we do because they're just fucking hilarious when they talk about the different seasons. They said if Libra season was like a charming brunch with well-mannered guests, Scorpio season's more like a murder mystery dinner party, all about getting down and dirty in other people's business about probing the depths of humanity.
00:08:10
Speaker
They crack me up, man. They're not necessarily a great resource for, like, factual things. Like, they have some stuff that I'm like, okay, this is relevant. But their articles are really fucking funny for some reason. They also discuss all the, like, quote unquote, scary things that happened during Scorpio season. And they like it scary to being like, Halloween.
00:08:32
Speaker
But then also the presidential elections in the United States, which is scary. And lastly, they described the scorpion as the most menacing of the astrological glyphs.
00:08:48
Speaker
stating that Scorpio was often associated with outright evil. In all seriousness, though, Scorpio season is known to be a time of transformation, change, rebirth, reimagining, and even just recalculating. According to a Nebula app astrologer named Iva Naskova,
00:09:09
Speaker
This is also a time where deep emotions tend to overrule us and we all get to be a bit more emotional than usual. And this like quote unquote moodiness is thought to be what propels our ambitions and our actions. And it's a time that we can increase our desire for power. And it's not a surprise if we make rapid changes in our life.
00:09:30
Speaker
Niskova also notes that it's a time where danger, mystery, and excitement are all in the air and more acute to us than they've been all year long. While this season is obviously dedicated to the Scorpios, it's also noted as being a great time for Pisces and Cancers as well.
00:09:49
Speaker
It's a great time for these three signs to really focus on their creativity and to embrace the darker shadow side that often gets hidden. On the flip side of that though, Aries, Sagittarius, and Aquarius signs are said to be likely to struggle with the amount of complexity that comes with Scorpio season. It might be too much emotion and too many feelings that could lead these signs to emotional outburst and sudden detachments.

Symbolism and Mythology of Scorpio

00:10:14
Speaker
It's noted that all the mystery that comes with this season can also give these particular signs a sense of feeling like their lives have been turned upside down. So remember to like check in on your airy, Sagittarius and Aquarius loved ones during this season. Are you ready? No, I'm not ready for this.
00:10:36
Speaker
It's too much emotion. We'll see what happens. We'll see. We'll check in on you. Yeah. Check in on me, please. I need it. So a little bit about just, I guess more about the symbolism related to Scorpio season. As you mentioned earlier, Tiffany, the symbol is the scorpion.
00:10:56
Speaker
And I loved this quote from Liz Green from asher.com. She says that the scorpion is a solitary little animal that likes to hide under stones. He can be dangerous, but never aggressive and will only harm someone when disturbed. That was kind of cute. Growing up in a desert, scorpions are a menace to society. I will just say I have seen scorpion one time in my life.
00:11:22
Speaker
and that was at my job in Oklahoma. I don't know even how this happened.
00:11:28
Speaker
but it was back when I worked in child welfare. Me and my coworker were at work late one day and I was sitting on her floor helping her. I think I was helping her rearrange her file cabinets or something at her desk. And then all of a sudden she just moves this like bag underneath her desk and like the scorpion comes like high tailing it out of her bag. And I have never ran
00:11:56
Speaker
And I don't run. I have never ran so far in my life, but like it started out as like a crab walk because I was sitting on the floor. I thought I was going to shit myself. It was terrifying. I have no clue where it came from, have no clue how it got in her bag, but life flashed before my eyes. It's like a traumatic experience. I will never forget. We used to like when I was a kid, my parents rented this house.
00:12:26
Speaker
it had a pool in the backyard and all the landscape, like we lived in the desert. So it was like desert landscape, like rocks and cactuses and stuff like that. And so like in the winter when we would drain the pool, like obviously it was empty, but it didn't have a pool cover.
00:12:42
Speaker
so like when it would start warming up again all the scorpions would come out and they would fall down into the bottom of this empty pool and in order to like fill the pool you'd have to get all the scorpions out and you know like they're fine if you leave them alone but the second you start disturbing them is when they get angry and try to like attack you and like sting you and pinch you and there'd be like 20 of these things in there and of course like my mom wouldn't do it she'd make all of us like kids go out and do it so we're trying to
00:13:08
Speaker
fling these scorpions out of the pool and over the fence without being like pinched and stung. Yeah, that sounds like childish news. Menace to society. That's what scorpions are. I would never do that. Like, over my dead body would I be plucking out a live scorpion out of a pool. Yeah, they're just like hanging out down there eating all the bugs that fall down there. And then we're like trying to get them out and they're like, leave me alone.
00:13:37
Speaker
And you're like, well, I'm trying to. We just want to go to this pool. It's summer in the desert. Yeah, we need something, guys. Come on.
00:13:47
Speaker
So other symbolisms of Scorpio season, the tarot key is going to be the death card and physical rulers are going to be your pelvis, sexual organs, large intestine and rectum. And the motto for Scorpio season is everything or nothing, which again makes them very intense and really kind of reiterates what their, I guess, mentality is and their way of thinking.
00:14:15
Speaker
The ruler of Scorpio season and just Scorpio in general is Pluto, the god of the underworld. And so legend states that the Greek gods, Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto all drew straws to determine who would rule the earth, the ocean, and the underworld, and Pluto drew the underworld.
00:14:34
Speaker
Astrostyle.com says that before Pluto was discovered in the 1930s, Mars ruled Scorpio and now Mars is considered the minor ruler of Scorpio. And I thought this was kind of confusing because it's like, okay, but like,
00:14:54
Speaker
We may not have discovered the planet Pluto, but obviously there was a Greek god also named Pluto. It's just very weird. When Pluto's a planet, then it's not a planet, then it's a planet.
00:15:11
Speaker
It's not a planet, so does not affect her. I can see how Scorpios would be intense because you're telling me that my planet is not a planet, but it is a planet, but it's not a planet. I can see that. While it's ruled by Mars and Pluto, which are very male-dominated energies,
00:15:30
Speaker
As we know because Tiffany mentioned it just a little while ago, Scorpio is also known as a feminine sign and it's often linked to the goddess, which I thought was very intriguing. So a little bit about the mythology related to Scorpio. It is centered a lot with Orion and Orion, for those of you who don't know,
00:15:50
Speaker
Here's the thing. Let me just pause there. I did not know much about Orion, and I know so many people who name their kids or their pets Orion, and knowing this history, I would never name anything after Orion. I mean, anytime you're naming something after a god or a goddess, they're not perfect little angel people. They're like, there's a lot of wrath and vengeance. Yeah.
00:16:19
Speaker
And especially the great pantheon is like, we've talked about this before, they're wild. They are wild. And there's a lot of crazy shit. This one is no exception. So Orion was a primitive hunter who, after raping his own mother, was blinded by her husband, King Oinopion. Could it be saying that wrong?
00:16:44
Speaker
Honestly, I didn't look up how to pronounce that. We'll just call him King O for short. Orion regained his sight with the help of the blacksmith have faced us. And after he regained his sight, he went out to avenge what happened to him by attacking all of nature. And I'm just like, dude, did you need to do anything because you're the one who you're the root of the problem. Like, yeah.
00:17:09
Speaker
All of this starts with you. You don't need revenge. You need to fucking get right with yourself. Therapy? Yeah, see a therapist, figure out what the hell is going on with you that you wouldn't want to rape your mother. But so anyway, all of his attacking, it got so bad that Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, was worried. So she created a giant scorpion to kill Orion, and it did so with Sting.
00:17:37
Speaker
But another version of this tale was that Orion actually was trying to rape Artemis, and that was why she had him killed. Either way, though, this tale also serves to explain why neither the constellation of Orion or Scorpio appear in the night sky at the same time, because they have a very contentious relationship. We talked about this a little bit in the episode that I covered Artemis in with
00:18:07
Speaker
I don't remember his name. He's a hunter that was tied to Artemis. They used to hunt together. And then like, essentially, there's a lot of mythology that ties Orion to this hunter as well. So we did talk a little bit. Yeah. So some characteristics for Scorpio, your
00:18:29
Speaker
Primary characteristics are going to include intensity, which we've said a few times already, perceptiveness, and holding a quiet and assured kind of power. Those with Scorpio placements, especially if these placements are in their big three, tend to be magnetic, passionate, protective, loyal, controlling,
00:18:49
Speaker
powerful, charismatic, transformational, brave, and trend-setting. They're also noted to often be more in tune with their psychic abilities. And in terms of the negative Scorpio energies and characteristics, they're often said to be obsessive, possessive, jealous, secretive, bingeful, cruel, calculating, and manipulative.
00:19:14
Speaker
When it comes to romantic relationships, Scorpios pair best with Cancers and Capricorns. Other notable mentions that would make a good match would be Pisces and Virgos.

Characteristics and Careers for Scorpios

00:19:25
Speaker
Because they are the detectives of the Zodiac, they're also said to excel in careers like journalism, therapists, and researchers.
00:19:34
Speaker
Astrologers love the symbol of the scorpion as a symbol for Scorpio because of these characteristics and essentially it's because people who are born under the sun of Scorpio are people who usually need time to themselves to process their own feelings and emotions. They prefer the shadows and they are comfortable with what people avoid or hide. Scorpios are often shy, quiet, and sensitive and they're known for being able to keep your secrets.
00:20:02
Speaker
So if you have a secret and you don't want anyone to know, it's safe with the Scorpio. They're all about passion, where Libra season saw feelings of fairness, equality, maybe even playing it safe to appease everyone. Scorpio season is none of that. And I found this quote, and I believe
00:20:24
Speaker
I have her listed in our show notes, but I'm just trying to remember her name off the top of my head. Dana Gerhart, she had this amazing quote slash, I don't know, just perception on just the zodiac in general, and I thought it was really interesting. She says that every sign corrects the weaknesses of its preceding sign. So Libra can be superficial, apathetic, and vacillating, while Scorpio is tenacious and firm.
00:20:53
Speaker
And I was thinking about how there is something to be said with that information. And I just, I don't know, that had never really occurred to me. Yeah, I've never seen that said before, but it does make
00:21:10
Speaker
a lot of sense, especially since we've been researching a lot of the signs and their seasons, doing this series on the podcast. We obviously, we did labor season last because that was the last season. So looking at all of those traits versus the traits of Scorpio season, it makes so much sense.
00:21:29
Speaker
Yes, yeah. Escorpio energy is all about zoning in on a target. And this energy is mysterious and sexy and includes things like strategic alliances and power mergers.
00:21:43
Speaker
They feel things very intensely and are very good at reading people and seeing the good and bad in other people. And they require a high level of maturity to not destroy the things that they love the most. They're not afraid of trying new things, especially things that other people might be afraid of.
00:22:02
Speaker
and especially if it will help them learn something new about themselves because that's like the most important thing to them. They tend to have a very strong sense of justice and they do not like to be taken advantage of and they're very good at things that require a lot of deep thought and understanding. Outside of being like very passionate and magnetic, they are loyal, protective, trend-setting, powerful,
00:22:26
Speaker
transformational, focused, healing, brave, and then some additional unsavory characteristics that I found related to Scorpio season is just this need for obsessive, possessive, jealous, secretive, vengeful,
00:22:43
Speaker
calculating, manipulative, all of those things. And a lot of times, Scorpios get a bad rap and are often reduced down to these unsavory characteristics or cliches. And they're very overused on a lot of articles that you read about Scorpio season on TikTok and Instagram, all those little videos.
00:23:03
Speaker
And at the root of Scorpio's season, according to Dana Gerhart, is one of the most powerful signs of the zodiac. They are focused on transformation and have the keys to life, death, and rebirth. And I really love that because knowing just how powerful and magical this season is, this time of the year is, it really does make sense with what she's trying to say and convey there. But
00:23:29
Speaker
They love unsolved mysteries. They love trying to fix things. They are really good at healing sicknesses and saving lives, building wealth. And again, like I said, it's one of the most magical signs in our zodiac. It's often tied back to the goddess. And just thinking about this time of year, like you were saying earlier, Tiffany, with we have Halloween and so basically we have Samhain. That is
00:23:56
Speaker
a really great ending of the harvest season and honoring the dead and things like that and understanding that harsh seasons are going to come before we have that rebirth and renewal. And a lot of that stuff gets overlooked when it comes to Scorpio season. It does for sure. And just going back to if you do your own research on this
00:24:21
Speaker
or on anything, honestly, it's why we always say to like cross reference and make sure you're using more than one source because say you look up Scorpio season. The reason I end up on the cut is because it's usually the first thing if you type in whatever season, the cuts article will be like the first Google listing. And so I always click it just to see what they say because they are funny. But if you go off of that, you're they literally are just like, well, it's spooky season. It's Halloween. It's the presidential elections.
00:24:47
Speaker
But obviously at the core of this, there's also, like you said, Samhain and things like the harvest season that are getting overlooked because it's just a single article that doesn't have that depth, that doesn't have that research and education. It's literally just people being funny.
00:25:05
Speaker
So like, you know, like we always tell you guys, make sure you're cross referencing, make sure you're doing more than one like reference when you're searching something. But if Scorpio is not in your big three or you don't have Scorpio placements in your birth chart at all.

Harnessing Scorpio Energy for Transformation

00:25:21
Speaker
it's still, this season is still going to affect you and you can still use this season to, you know, grasp onto those things like transformation that we keep talking about. So remember that even if you just don't have those placements, you're still going to experience the energy of Scorpio season and every season regardless of your birth chart.
00:25:40
Speaker
Having those placements just means that you might experience the season more intensely or maybe just a little differently. This season's theme tends to be extreme passion, and it's considered a time to zone in on a target and not take the safe middle ground. It's a great time for power mergers, strategic alliances, and even sexuality. Use this season as a time for self-discovery. So embrace the intensity of the season and take advantage of the energy to get things done.
00:26:09
Speaker
I was reading as well, and I know that you read this too because we had this linked both in each of our show notes, but I loved this because I thought this was a really great practical thing to do to embrace Scorpio season, even if you don't have Scorpio in your chart at all.
00:26:26
Speaker
They talked a lot on astro twins about being resourceful and taking time to focus on the things that you possess and make the most of it. So astro style suggests going through your things and finding value in the things that you
00:26:43
Speaker
own that are no longer serving you the way that you want them to and then like repurpose them or sell them at a consignment or a vintage shop or like a resale shop and i thought this was a really good idea because it's like something everybody can do during this time of year right and they mentioned to this also like a great time to.
00:27:04
Speaker
Do research on long term investments business partners and collaborations and to think outside of the box for new opportunities especially if you're interested in increasing your wealth. It's also said to be a great time to explore any feelings that you might have been putting off.
00:27:20
Speaker
addressing like trust yourself and any apprehensions that you might be feeling. And then Scorpio season is also noted as a great time to explore deepening your relationships. It's a time to make genuine connections that support your own growth, but it's noted that this is not a time to make new connections, but rather to enhance those that you already have.
00:27:42
Speaker
Remember too that this is a season of acceptance. So as we're working on self-discovery and exploring relationships, we should also be willing to accept our own flaws and tend to our own doubts while working to increase our own self-worth. Astro style gave five transformative ideas that everyone could try to help like harness the energies of Scorpio season. And I wanted to include this because I thought it was like, like we were saying, like,
00:28:09
Speaker
You don't have to have these placements to use these energies. So these are like five things that literally anyone can do. It doesn't matter if you have Scorpio placements or not. So some of the suggestions that they give are to, the first one is, shroud yourself in mystery.
00:28:26
Speaker
They say to keep your details private, hold back a little bit, and maybe even take a break from things like social media during this time, and build up that mystery and intrigue during the entire season. It's also noted that this is a great tactic for business owners by the author Seth Godden. He has a book, which the name of this book cracks me up. It's called Free Prize Inside, How to Make a Purple Cow. And basically, he states that
00:28:52
Speaker
This is the concept of the irresistible bonus. It's a practice that is believed to entice people to buy. And there's an entire science that when there's this anticipation, it drives people crazy in the form of needing to know the information.
00:29:07
Speaker
It makes people want, which often leads people to purchase. It's not the quote unquote prize itself that drives the excitement, but the thrill that comes from the anticipation of the experience of getting that item. And he likens it to the idea of the Cracker Jack or the cereal box prize for kids. It's never that it's a great thing inside this prize, but it's like, oh my gosh, I got this prize. And it's ripping it open and seeing what it is. So it's not even that you're getting
00:29:34
Speaker
something of great value. So there's a theory that keeping this, especially during Scorpio season, if you have a business, a small business, whatever it is, shrouded in mystery for these four weeks and see if that attracts people. Yeah. I feel like you could also do this in your intimate relationships too and focus more on, this can come off however you want to perceive it.
00:30:01
Speaker
keeping that mystery alive, like putting on more of like a tease or like, this would be a great time to like, if you ever wanted to learn how to like pole dance or something like that, like, this could be a great time to really take advantage of those energies. And that's a great segue into the next one, which is getting spicy. This is the sign of intimacy, merging and constant craving. So they say to like,
00:30:30
Speaker
revel in the communion of mind, body, and soul. But remember that this doesn't mean that you have to get intimate with another person unless that's what you want to do. You can use this time to get in touch with your sensual energy. And it doesn't necessarily need to be sexual either.
