Speaker: Hello listeners, I'm Carly and we are wrapping up our solar punk season with some heavy hitters. I'm Caroline. Our next episode is on Seven Eves by Neal Stephenson. This book begins with the destruction of the moon wiping out all life on earth.
Speaker: Survivors build a civilization in space for 5 ,000 years until the Earth is habitable again. Then we will read Earth Abides by George R. Stewart. This book written in 1949 starts with a pandemic that wipes out most of human life on Earth. The main character travels the country observing how animal and plant life adapt to an ecosystem without humans. Over the course of his life, he sees what remains from the old civilization and what does not.
Speaker: Our final book for the season is Walk Away by Cory Doctorow. Walk Away is about informal groups who walk away from corrupt American society by building and surviving in areas of land destroyed by climate change. Yeah, heavy books. Yeah, they are.
