That's my favorite emoji. So if you hit that, ah not my favorite emoji, but my favorite reaction emoji, I should say. Enough

Reflecting on January 6th and Terrorism Incidents

00:02:00
Speaker
about that, though. Welcome again. ah Happy Epiphany to y'all that celebrate me and my mother. In the snowstorm here in Virginia, went out and attempted to build a snowman that turned into the Virgin Mary and the Blessed ah and Child Jesus. It was crazy. ah But hey, you want to see it? It's in the front yard. Anyways, um But yeah, January 6th is also known for another day four years ago. ah in In preparation for the certification for the election, we did have um an insurrection on the Capitol. So no matter where you stand on the aisle, obviously it was a horrible day. I actually have
00:02:41
Speaker
a close friend who is a ah police officer there in the capital that was there that day and has recounted to us ah many times the horrors that were experienced on that day. So, you know, it's It's something that just needs to be talked about because we've never had anything like that before, and democracy needs to be respected by both sides. um And so every candidate that comes into office, not like it's ever going to happen, right? I know we don't live in a utopia, but for the most part, we should have peaceful transfers of power. And so with Donald Trump, the president-elect, coming in, being inaugurated here in two weeks, exactly on the 20th,
00:03:29
Speaker
um uh vice president Kamala Harris was the one who certifies in congress for the president to be the next one just like Mike Pence did for Joe Biden four years ago. ah She did that today. There was some expected not to be any sort of you know controversy or back he was going to get certified so he will be elected again in two weeks. um But It is something that we can't forget that happened in this country a long time ago, which, you know, never should have happened. If you are as a veteran, and especially if you are able to want to fight against, and look, I hate politicians too, right? They're ugly. All of them. All of them. On both sides of the aisle. We're all liars, cheats, and steals. Whoa! Shout out my boyfriends as well.
00:04:19
Speaker
um So I don't like any of them either. I'm not going to go try to kill any of them, though. Right. So let's just be sensible. No need to do anything like that. um Obviously, there are better ways to have your voice heard. And those ways are not attacking anyone. And that includes ah terrorist attacks. And that includes other types of attacks. As we know, this past week in America, we had a pretty rough week starting on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
00:04:49
Speaker
uh down in new orleans where uh there we had an attack a terrorist attack to be clear it was a terrorist attack at least 15 killed 30 injured after the attacker intentionally drove a pickup truck through the crowd on new orleans bourbon street during the new year's e festivity first of all prayers up to everyone uh who is injured hopefully you are able to have a full recovery and also all those families that lost anyone um we are praying for you and hopefully you get uh you know are able to get through this as as as best as you can because we know it's a tough time for you but we're here to support you. Also shout out to Bourbon Street, love New Orleans, went there a few years ago for our fantasy football job it was a great time um but this is not a good time to be recounted and it never is
00:05:45
Speaker
when there is a terrorist attack on the United States soil. And so this ass, I was about to say the whole word, this guy, this jerk-off, this scallywag, 42-year-old Shamsu Din Jabbar, was flying an ISIS flag. So clearly, we know what the intentions were. Obviously, ah ISIS is a terrorist organization that needs to be destroyed and eliminated.
00:06:14
Speaker
uh but they do not care for america obviously death to america being their slogan so uh you know it's it's tougher much tougher when that person is also a veteran yeah you heard me right according to reports jabar is a u.s army veteran and a u.s citizen from texas After ah using his truck that he rented to run over a bunch of innocent civilians, ah he then got into a shootout with police. Thankfully, the police were able to take him out. His family says they've never seen this in him before. Again, he was a veteran, he was a soldier. So at some point in time, he fought and sacrificed himself for the well-being of America.
00:07:10
Speaker
But at some point in time, that all ceased to change. When, how, we haven't got all the stories, but obviously at some point, he was radicalized by ISIS.
00:07:28
Speaker
He is now having to seem have acted alone, but coincidentally enough, or as some people would, would say, not coincidentally enough, if you if you're on X or Twitter, you will know Elon Musk lets everything go there, except until today, but we'll talk a little bit about that later. um So the X is, if where you want raw, raw news and and opinions, you go there. But anyway, a lot of people thought that maybe this incident was related to another attack or another attempted attack.

Speculations and Mental Health Concerns

00:08:10
Speaker
this time in las vegas by another army soldier an active duty army soldier this soldier was on leave from germany uh he came home apparently went home to see his his wife all that good stuff and then um i'm not going to get into his personal life if you want to read any more up on that you can read on the rumors of what happened there but he rented a truck uh, drove it to Las Vegas and, uh, and proceeded to park in front of the Trump hotel in a Tesla Cybertruck. So as the police said, and as all, as we can all any normal, uh, you know, somewhat person with a, with a brain can figure out, um, that could be sort of related to Trump and Elon Musk. But obviously they have not found any evidence that we can not concretely say that that is
00:09:11
Speaker
Bye! A lot of people have put rumors out of how if these two incidents were related because this gentleman, I'm not even going to call him a gentleman, I again don't know his intentions because he didn't actually hurt anyone other than himself. And there was really no one around when he did it. So I don't know if he was actually intending to hurt anyone anyways. It could have been more like a Nashville bombing situation, which I was a block from. um And I could feel my building shake. I remember vividly he wasn't trying to kill anybody. He was just trying to blow up the building in himself.
00:09:41
Speaker
So those things do happen from time to time, but check this y'all the crazy coincidence about this is is this guy matthew live is live live burger Who's a 37 year old green beret? Also served at court liberty formerly known as court brag not not with, but also served there as did the first guy, um Jabbar. So they both were stationed at one point in time at Fort Bragg. Now it it wasn't together, it wasn't simultaneously.
00:10:15
Speaker
as far as I know, but that's a pretty crazy coincidence. So rumors started to spread on the internet. Maybe these two are correlated and it still could be, you never know. They could have still made contact even if they never worked there at the same time, just being on now, granted.
00:10:29
Speaker
A lot of soldiers go through for liberty. A lot of soldiers go through there every year. So it may not be a coincidence at all. ah But right now they cannot say that these two tactics are related. What they are saying is that the Tesla that he was driving in was able to contain the impact so everything blew up because it's like a steel tank. So if he was trying to blow it up as a vehicle, VBIED, which is what we call it in the military, a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. um Then he didn't do a good job, and as experienced and trained as he as he as he was,
00:11:07
Speaker
and the cops admitted this, he should have been able to do a much better job with the type of bomb he was creating. Needless to say, apparently the Tesla Cybertruck was able to contain that, so it stayed mostly in in the car and then went up. So this this guy was burned to death beyond rest recognition. They later found out, though, that there was also a gunshot wound to the head, so they suspect suicide before the blowing up of the truck.
00:11:32
Speaker
but again rumors on the internet because the internet is wild uh just spread so it's like oh well maybe he shot himself in the head and then since it's a tesla and it's self-driving that itself drove all the way to the hotel parked itself and then blew itself up on a timer the internet the internet if you want raging conspiracy theories the internet especially x is your place to be uh since i actually Uh enjoy seeing those different sides of stories, even though I know they're mostly not true. Uh, I I I I know I I go into rabbit holes sometimes on to uh, some of those posts probably uh Probably more than I than than I should since most of those people are ah Bullshitting and don't know don't know they're right from their left. Anyways, uh found inside handgun at his foot
00:12:24
Speaker
which is another thing people are saying well if it's a desert eagle which is the most powerful one of the most powerful high-end guns if he shot himself it wasn't gonna drop his feet it was gonna go so again I mean these are valid points though I don't know I wasn't there but I'm just saying I'm giving you the information as always dude there's a news headline show I'm not making any judgments whatsoever um He served in the army since 2006. Again, in Greenboro, Beret. He served two tours in Afghanistan. He served in Ukraine, Tajikistan, Georgia, and the Congo, awarded

Infrastructure Challenges and Environmental Efforts

00:12:54
Speaker
five bronze stars, one with valor device for courage. um So ah they also believe though that it has, and both of these,
00:13:07
Speaker
have something to do with mental health issues. That doesn't necessarily have to be depression or anxiety or PTSD. It could be, um you know, ah bipolar schizophrenia, other things that may allow you to live two different sorts of lives, right? and Be radicalized.
00:13:25
Speaker
saying that just this gentleman was, this gentleman for all we know, since he didn't have any ISIS flags or did anything like this, this could have all been a coincidence that they both happened on the same day. This guy just got into a, you know, some life issues. He had entered himself into the into a mental health program with the with the one of the military associations. So maybe he just wasn't feeling life anymore and he wanted to make a statement outside the Chumco Hotel.
00:13:50
Speaker
totally ah viable and impossible, especially with Trump and Elon Musk now controlling pretty much everything. So, you know, I think it's more along those lines sides of things. Again, I'm not here to give you any judgments, but just thinking about this rationally, I would think the first one was a terrorist attack. And I would think the second one, again, unless related, I would think the second one is more of a mental health sort of suicide, sort of trying to prove a point, like in the Nashville bombing sort of thing. So what do you think?
00:14:17
Speaker
Let me know in the comments if you're watching what are your thoughts on uh, and you know all the conspiracy theories I talked about um Anything you may think about this one thing. I do want to let you know uh is the FBI and all the other organizations including intel organizations are saying that you need to be aware at all times especially walking on sidewalks and streets in major cities especially like urban street like new york city like nashville like uh biel street in memphis like any of these places that are have a lot of tourists you want to be careful because
00:14:51
Speaker
um vehicle terrorist attacks are on the rise and since 2019 or sorry in 2016 rather vehicle attacks represented half of all terrorism deaths and so these things are on the rise so be warned that year uh one um asked Mohammed uh killed and injured 434 in in France that's that's That's ridiculous. That's horrible unacceptable. um We must eliminate terrorism in this world.
00:15:25
Speaker
ah
00:15:30
Speaker
I'm going to leave it at that. I'm going to leave it at that because I was going to say some other things that I just don't think are necessary for this point in time. The last thing I will say is I want to reiterate prayers to all the families who lost You know, people, my mom and I watched a heartbreaking interview of ah a dad and a mother who had lost their son. And they told him not to go because they had a bad feeling. And he went anyways. And unfortunately, he was one of the ones to pass away. So may they all ah rest in peace. Again, thank you. My name is Omar, the professor of from Second. This is Professor Semon Almente. Please make sure, again, that you are subscribed to Ball and Bud so you see all of our live video
00:16:14
Speaker
Moving on, FBI did arrest a Virginia man, had to be in Virginia where I'm at, right, um who was found to have the largest cache of explosives in FBI history. So right after we're having this stuff with these attacks, this man is arrested by the FBI, the most historic, largest explosive bust in history. um His name is Brad Kenneth Fafford, and during an execution of the search warrant at his home,
00:16:44
Speaker
where he lived, by the w kids, two young kids. Th a stockpile of more than a hundred and fifty homemade id ah such as I. bombs and also These were most remarked as le they also found tools manufacturing materials all kinds of things to make more bombs as well as in the fridge which by the way remember he lives with two young kids he had explosive material that was lethal as well like come on now dude if you want to hurt yourself um do do that but don't hurt your own damn kids because an accident could happen you never know and then obviously he doesn't care get it but i'm just saying like some people are just
00:17:30
Speaker
Some people just are crazy. I want to say more, but I'm trying to keep this show PG and not like some of my other shows because I want to ah be respectable on this show. But it just blows my mind. No pun intended at all. It's just crazy how ah people could want to go out of their way to hurt so many other people. Like what kind of and of joll How do you get jollies off of hurting other people? even like Not even just mentally or emotionally, but physically. like Killing people, I don't know. It doesn't make any sense to me. I thought that needed to be said because that was historic and it happened here in Virginia as well. Moving on.
00:18:17
Speaker
that's another sad story especially for my people in puto rico but Puerto Rico, bu an island wide power out early morning as well on new year's eve and was for ah couple of days there um And the whole island went dark. So it was, you know, ah very, when something happens in Puerto Rico along those lines, very hard for them to get the services back up because of the age of the infrastructure, because of the infrastructure, because of the politicians
00:18:50
Speaker
who have their hands out to grab money behind the infrastructure. There's just a lot of things including corruption and other things going on. That is aside from the fact that they don't get enough support from the United States as a territory, as none of the territories do, Guam, the Virgin Islands, so on and so forth, which is a problem that the United States has to fix immediately. They don't need to be states to get the same rights or care or anything as states because the United States is the one that took them as territory. They didn't ask to be taken as territory. Anyways,
00:19:26
Speaker
uh so puerto this happens often in puerto rico especially because there's hurricanes and th will destroy the infrastru more to come back. Last time my grandmother who lives in the country and the rural country had no power for like think she had to live by candlelight for like six months to a year or something like that before my dad bought her or not that my dad but my dad could get brought by but could get from the government there solar panels to go on top of her house still nothing with electricity but at least she got that um So that's pretty crazy. So we're going to see if the United States actually takes care of Puerto Rico as they should because they do not now and all the other islands as well. um But estimates right now to even modernize the po power grid in Puerto Rico is 20 billion. So, hey, how about instead of the next round of weapons to Ukraine, you take 20 billion out of there and throw it to us Puerto Ricans. We would appreciate it. Moving on.
00:20:23
Speaker
Anyways, make sure you subscribe to ball and buzz and go ahead hit that like button because I know you like what I just said hit that like button now um Thank you all for tuning in it is Omar the professor from seca good um some good news here though power Chicago the city of chicago now all buildings will be powered by clean renewable energy so I know there's some of you out there that you know, do not believe in climate change or believe that it's not um as big as of a thing. And look, I'm, I'm, I'm not, not that Greta girl. I don't even remember her name. I'm not, I'm not saying I'm not a climate change, you know, hour. I get it, right? Probably not going to happen anytime soon or and definitely not in our lifetime. Probably not in our kid's lifetime, right? So I get it, right? I'm not, I'm not myself that concerned, or maybe I would do more about it, but
00:21:19
Speaker
What I will say is if you can't, if we can take little steps to eliminate climate change because it's obvious to any person with with sense that climate change is happening. Not only are the waters heating up and the glaciers are melting, we're having more hurricanes, we're having more wildfires, we're having more tornadoes, we're having more hot summers and more worse winters. it's It's pretty simple. Anybody with a brain can tell that climate is changing, right? Now again, I agree it's probably not to the extent that some people would make it out to be, and it's definitely not anything that we're going to be affected by, but
00:21:54
Speaker
If we want, and again, maybe something you don't care about, because you don't care how long the world lasts, but if you do, right, this is a good story. As of January 1st, all 400 plus buildings, um municipal buildings, government buildings in the wity windy city, including firehouses, airports, and the two biggest water treatment plants now run on renewable energy. About 70% of this energy will come from the new double black diamond solar project which is in Illinois if they built this big solar plant out in the out the middle of the fields that weren't being used. The other 30% will be offset by the city's power, or will offset by the city purchasing renewable and energy credits. So the shift is expected to reduce Chicago's annual ah carbon footprint by the equivalent of 62,000 cars worth of pollution. Now, I get it. You're saying to me right now, Omar,
00:22:50
Speaker
What is 62,000 cars of pollution less going to do in a city like Chicago, which has, you know, I wouldn't say millions, it's probably an exaggeration, but hundreds of thousands of cars running through there day after day after day. Got it. Understood. But on the other side, it is 62,000 cars less pollution, right? So um I think it's a good thing. I think the little bit that we can do, right, just to try, um you know, I don't, I recycle. I don't, I don't feel like I have to. Most people in my building coach throw shit away, but we have a recycling bin. So I recycle just to try to do my part. I don't drive or ride a bike. So, you know, little things, not that.
00:23:36
Speaker
but ah Again, I get it because a lot of people are, oh, climate change. It's not a hoax, okay? It's definitely not a hoax. But again, it's not something that we will be affected by at all. Take that for what it is. Next thing, congestion pricing begins across the U.S. For those of you in major cities like Chicago and other places, this will be coming soon to a city near you right now.
00:24:06
Speaker
Excuse me, let me get a drink of the water. Right now, the first

Political Recognitions and Controversies

00:24:09
Speaker
congestion pricing plan in the US went into effect in Manhattan. So in New York now, drivers will be paying a $9 fee excuse me during peak hours. So similar to if you've been in any state that has HOV, where you have to pay for the HOV, like here in Virginia and Maryland, DC, you got pay.
00:24:36
Speaker
or the H. O. B. Lanes. Have like that, it's kind of li going to be all the time during peak hours So if you're traveling um in manhattan from the bottom of Central Park to the i
00:24:50
Speaker
right or sixty is sixty s but don't know how that hed do it i think in New York. I thought I had it here. It was 60th Street. For 60th Street, it will be $9 during peak hours as a fee for you to drive through there.
00:25:08
Speaker
This toll is expected to generate 500 million in revenue annually over the first three years, which will be put back into the transportation infrastructure in the city. The reason that my Manhattan is doing this, this came from then Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2007, was because Manhattan had started getting so densely populated that taxis were averaging five miles an hour and places people were able to walk places quicker than they were able to drive.
00:25:37
Speaker
I've been in New York a few times and seen that sort of thing, but I don't live there and I'm not from there. So I don't know if that happens all the time, but that's crazy. If you are in New York and they are down to five miles an hour, have you seen this? Please give me a something. Drop me something in the chat. Let me know. That's wild. But I do believe it.
00:25:51
Speaker
Anyways, they are saying that this will alleviate the drivers that were losing up to 101 hours each year due to the traffic delays. Imagine that. You're losing 100 hours a year due to driving through traffic in Manhattan. So, um you know, it's ah it's ah it's a good thing for the the traffic decrease, but it's a bad thing, I guess, if you have to pay that $9 every day.
00:26:15
Speaker
But I guess it'd be worth it if you're a driver and you want to have less traffic to deal with so It's uh, there's some pros and some cons to all of that All right, uh final thing before uh, we move on to oh, no got a couple more quick hitters there as well Um, but president biden has awarded the medal of freedom to 19 people including uh civil rights icon late fannie lou hamer who uh who brought uh voting rights at uh uh for for the civil rights movement as well former secretary of state hillary clinton um as well as actors michael j fox denzel washington uh athletes leonelle messy and magic johnson as well as you uh posthumously you turn u.s attorney general robert f kennedy the father of rfa jr
00:27:09
Speaker
um who is President-elect's nominated Secretary of Health and Human Services, as well as Mitt Romney's father, George Romney, ah as well as Jose Andres, the World Central Kitchen owner who is screwed around the world, Bono, the former frontman of U2, and as well, Jane Goodall, a world-renowned ethiologist in conversation and conversation.
00:27:38
Speaker
conservationist, excuse me, getting two words mixed up, among others. Also, ah Bill the Nye, the Science Guy, shout out Bill Nye, used to watch him when I was younger, but all these people have contributed to society in some sort of way. ah Most of them are in a philanthropic effort or things of that nature. So their contributions have given back to the world is what this Medal of Freedom is supposed to mean.
00:28:03
Speaker
ah One, that is a, if you heard me, I think it was last week when I talked about ah George Biden. George Biden. Wow. you'll You'll know why I said that in just a second. That Joe Biden was kind of given a ah little ah stiff goodbye to the GOP or to the Republicans with all of his outgoing decisions, which I'm not going to say I agree with all of them, but it's definitely a big FU to the the right of the aisle as he's going out. This is another one, and this this is just is dirty. This is the diabolical work. This is savagery. He's going to present a Medal of Freedom to the billionaire Democratic fundraiser, George Soros.
00:28:52
Speaker
And if you're on the right side of the aisle or a GOP voter or a Republican, he's probably the most hated person in the world to you. Because that's pretty much the most hated person that the w right always talks about is George Soros. So the fact that George Joe Biden is giving him a presidential medal honor, that is definitely, definitely screw you out the door to the Republican Party. So I'm not about petty.
00:29:21
Speaker
Actually, yeah, I am that's petty that's pet that's massive petty work and I love it I think it's hilarious because who cares anyways, um Moving on other presidential news thursday is the national day of mourning for president jimmy carter All of the government is off. So if you are on the government know that you do not have to go Uh into work unless you're essential personnel like I used to be I understand. Yes potential personnel. We never get off I remember I worked every holiday and oh man, being an essential personnel is hard. We love you and we appreciate you. Other news, Donald Trump, the soon to be inaugurated president, is to be sentenced in this hush money case 10 days before the inauguration here on the 10th. I thought that was pretty crazy. I thought the judge still bringing that up when he used to be inaugurated is, eh, that's little a little iffy. That's a little iffy. I think if he got voted as president, he used to probably just
00:30:19
Speaker
You can't have, he's already a convicted felon. We shouldn't have him, he's already been elected, so he's going in. I don't think he should have other things hanging over

Legal and Economic Developments

00:30:28
Speaker
his head. I think all cases, he should be immune from all all cases that he had before, um now that he's been elected president. That's just, right that might be an unpopular opinion to the people on the left, um but I just think so. He's already a convicted felon, and I don't think that a president coming into the office should have to have those sort of things hanging over his head.
00:30:49
Speaker
So like it or not, I think that all of those cases should be dismissed. If you weren't able to get it, by the way, that's what pisses me off about that Jack Smith case. You had three years, so three damn years.
00:31:02
Speaker
to get him on trial. And you ain't do it. He got elected. That's your fault. Do your job better. Drop your cake. Moving on, get this. Coming on to United Flights for Getting in the Spring Starlink Wi-Fi services. Yes, Elon Musk Starlink Wi-Fi will now be available on United Flights for Getting in the Spring. Finally, before moving on to World News, a minimum wage borrow. Finally, finally!
00:31:30
Speaker
i've been looking for you
00:31:36
Speaker
um inside 703 joke but uh shout out snaily and uh and all the rest um but a minimum wage bump 9.2 million workers in 21 states will see paycheck increases and no they don't have to go crawling their hands and knees to their boss to ask for a raid no no no minimum wages in states have jumped between 18 cents
00:32:05
Speaker
Let me give you a little side eye on the 18 cents. Whoever that was, that's a little side eye. At least, even if you're the most, even if you're California given the most, at least let me give a 25 cents a quarter jump. What's 18 cents? What's 18 cents? What's that go? but That's the best that he worked to. And 175 at the highest range. 2024 saw the largest bump in minimum wages in the United States.
00:32:30

history. Even though when California did raise to a $20 minimum wage in April for fast food workers, everybody thought we were going to see $45 cheeseburgers and we did not. ah Research has shown that there are actually few negative side effects for the business. Obviously there's going to be more taxes and things like that. But in terms of morale, I know when I when i was an assistant manager at a biscuit house in Nashville, I won't say with one,
00:32:57
Speaker
ah The workers there were making between 11 and 15. No, sorry. 11 and 13. The managers were making 15, which is sad. 11 and 13, depending on their experience for cook, server, whatever. And they didn't, they weren't able to take tips. It wasn't like a restaurant. They weren't able to take any tips. So you're just working for that $11 an hour or whatever. And you got to wake your ass up at six in the morning, come work till two, till two floor in the afternoon for 11 bucks an hour. No.
00:33:25
Speaker
That's unacceptable. Minimum wage needs to go to a minimum $15 in every single state across the United States. I've heard it here first, solutions oriented, the professor. Now, thank you for, bam, I see everybody tuning in. That number has gone so high. I really appreciate y'all tuning in. Wow. If you are tuned in, please hit that like button, that up thumb. It looks like that. Hit it for me right now, please. Also, maybe the heart.
00:33:52
Speaker
I'm not going to do that. Maybe the heart or maybe the laugh. But um anyways, go ahead and hit that for me. Helps us out in the algorithm. Gets that video out to more people. Some more people get this beautiful face. All right. Moving on to world news. This is some pretty exciting news we have here. Y'all, so first of all,
00:34:12
Speaker
uh there is a new project aims to build synthetic life from scratch so there is a 13 million dollar project funded by the european research council which is working to create a simple living systems capable of darwin Darwinian evolution within the next six years they're hoping to complete this. So what's going to happen? Instead of using nuc nucleo nucleotides excuse me like DNA or RNA like we have in that the building blocks of our genetic system,
00:34:46
Speaker
These many life researchers plan to coax complex growth reactions out of simple chemicals that don't evolve at all. So they're going to take chemicals that don't normally evolve and ah obviously do some sort of synthetic chemical sort of whatever, ah you know, things to make it actually evolve.
00:35:06
Speaker
um Now, these are the goal is to come with human made completely synthetic molecules that can adapt to at least two types of different environments. And this will help them to see how it will shed more light on how life began on Earth.
00:35:23
Speaker
So in creating these things, they will be able to find, because obviously with things that already evolve, there's only so much research you can do, right? But if you're able to get evolution from things that don't normally evolve, that's when you figure out how life really started. and that is where man it's crazy how far we've moved in technology and in things around the world like our scientists and how how advanced we are i am so excited to see the future and see what kinds of things we're gonna have um i mean i'm i'm already huge into the ai the vra are all that stuff so i know all this stuff is just going to improve so check this story out ah another
00:36:03
Speaker
Crazy story. Robots have learned how to perform surgery by observing human doctors. What? What? So a new legion of medical bots don't need humans on remote control to do surgery. All they need is to watch. So what happened is autonomous robots trained at Johns Hopkins and Stanford learned how to stitch up wounds, tie knots, and automatically fix mistakes, which made me do a back step. I was like, wait a second.
00:36:36
Speaker
I don't want the mistake to have it in the first place while I'm in surgery though. So you better fix that part first. But they're able to fix their own mistakes and everything all from just watching videos of real doctors performing the surgery. Mind blown. What? What that does, oops? That's crazy. If you're telling me a robot can watch a video of a human doctor performing procedures and then go on. Now, obviously these are just simple procedures now.
00:37:09
Speaker
keep telling y'all keep telling y'all i i just said i love science but one thing i'm i'm not sure i love about science telling y'all i keep warning y'all y'all don't listen the robots are gonna take over eventually the robots will take over it's gonna be like terminator i'm i'm not joking with you you think i'm joking may not happen in our lifetime but maybe in a hundred years Either that or the plate of the apes wanted to I can see both of those happening But anyways, um, they're trying to cushion the projected shortage of 10 to 20 000 surgeons by

Scientific and Technological Advances

00:37:44
Speaker
20 36. So apparently no one wants to be a surgeon anymore We need more surgeons y'all if you have a kid who likes uh health and wants to be a doctor Please please try to convince them to be a surgeon because we need obviously more of those to the robots but Don't take over
00:38:01
Speaker
I should use a laugh track. I know I have one here somewhere. But anyways, we'll move it on. Oh, wow. This is also super cool. In England, southern England, workers in a limestone quarry have uncovered almost 200 dinosaur footprints, dating back roughly 166 million years. um The tracks are in a vicinity that are ah previously discovered but have been inaccessible since 1997. The recent find includes imprints from five different animals including four sauropods and one megalosaurus, a 30-foot long carnivore um and the first dinosaur fossil ever to be formally described back in 1824. So
00:38:51
Speaker
What is now England before in the Middle Jurassic period had a tropical climate that was covered in warm and shallow seas. So during this time is when obviously they had a bunch of dinosaurs and so now they've uncovered almost again 200 dinosaur footprints and they have now named this area Dinosaur Highway in England. So that's pretty cool as well.
00:39:14
Speaker
um And then finally, to end our world news, a little bit of cool news here. um But there was a 608-pound bluefin tuna. And what does that look like, you asked me, Omar? What does a 608-pound tuna look like? Well, it is equivalent to a grizzly bear, a motorbike, or a cow.
00:39:36
Speaker
So imagine a tuna the size of a cow or the weight of a cow at least And this is probably a smaller end cow maybe but anyways cow no less and it auctioned off at a tokyo fish market for 1.3 million dollars Only one fish on record has ever been sold for more and that was a 613 oma tuna fish Which was the size of a mountain zebra or a grand piano and that tuna because it's a more specialized and favored tuna sold for 3.1 Million dollars. So wow just man, I know I know I'd like some tuna like I love me some tunas That's probably some some amazing tuna and it's cooked at a Michelin restaurant It was bought by a Michelin star restaurant chain. So, you know that joint is cooked Chef's kiss maybe ah
00:40:31
Speaker
Maybe the felonious chef uh kb is tuned in and maybe he has A recipe for some oma tuna. Uh, let me know kb if you're there anybody else watching Let me know if you love yourself some some tuna. Uh, thanks mom appreciate the the support. Love you Uh, all right So again, make sure you subscribe to ball and budge b-a-l-l-a and d-b u-d-s to make sure you tune into alt Of our videos and as well, um, please make sure you hit that like button it helps an algorithm Go ahead and hit it right now. tiktok update y'all tiktok update you know this is the third time we've talked about this on this show so it's obviously a hot topic what is happening on january 10 seems to be a big day in this news uh recap but the supreme court will decide on the law requiring tiktok to break ties with its chinese-based parent company bite dance or face a government ban by the u.s because they are seen as a national security risk Obviously, I've I've I told y'all before a lot of people use tiktok Not only for content creation, but also for their small business also to sell products It is one of the biggest search engines right now as well So creators and small business owners obviously are up in arms. They're like, oh no, what's gonna happen? They're waiting to see what's the supreme court gonna decide this started with donald trump in his first term, uh, and now concluded with joe biden they both ah took the
00:42:17
Speaker
advice of national security and say this is not good for tiktok you know where i stand i agree i don't think it's good for national security i think the u.s company should own it or if not it does need to be banned sorry not sorry i'm not on tiktok but you also should know though because i do teach social media i do teach digital marketing for small business and freelancers and all you other content creators hit me up if you need any tutoring uh but i tell all my students social media is not owned media. It is not an owned channel. You do not own anything you put on social media, which is why you should always, always, and if you're listening to me on this program and you do social media, you should listen to this, always have a repository.
00:43:01
Speaker
always have a repository where you keep all of your content, links to your content, a Google Drive, a Dropbox, something where you own your own content. Because when you put that content on Facebook, you put that content on TikTok, you put that content on Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, all of that, that platform now owns that content. content Because why?
00:43:24
Speaker
Well, if that if that platform were to shut down tomorrow like tiktok could on january 19th if the government decides Bye, buy your content all your pictures all your video everything gone. Voila cease to exist ha And People have their life's work on there. I know people who I've personally tutored, not personally taught, who have left their jobs to become content creators, have put their whole lives into content creation, right? And I told them the same thing. Make sure you deliver diversify your channels. Make sure you have a repository. At some point, that channel is probably going to cease to exist and you will lose everything on it.
00:44:09
Speaker
We've seen it. We saw MySpace, which is actually still hanging around somehow. um a Vine, all these other platforms that just were gone and you never got your stuff back. Own your media, own your content, own a repository where you can put these things. Because now online communities are at risk. Economic fallout could be devastating.
00:44:37
Speaker
uh people again could lose their lives and that's why i'm giving you this warning now if you want to be a content creator you want to be an influencer yeah it's cool right make millions of dollars because your youtube videos you want to be stupid and go do it you know ride a sled off of a cliff just for views fine cool make sure you keep it in a repository because if it was ever to go bye-bye that sled ride was all for not sucker moving on the 82nd globe the 82nd golden globe awards kicked off the 2025 awards season um with a mix of uh, you know expected and surprising wins it was hosted by comedian nikki glazer marking the first time a woman has ever hosted the golden globe solo uh the post-war epic the brutal

00:47:25
Speaker
say that three times fast tech trade show will be in las vegas for four days ai will be the star of the show um obviously because it's being integrated into everything from uh tv's to phones to toothbrushes so on and so forth so um you know this is where the new phones come out and all the things the new uh Car models are uh, you know, the new inventive futuristic car models are displayed and all that stuff. So, uh, be on the lookout for that if you are in vegas also Squid games on netflix if you did not know Season 2 is out and it has been a hit thus far as uh, it has it has garnered excuse me 68 million views in the first
00:48:13
Speaker
For days, so that's pretty crazy. Um, it's been its highest Record high excuse me series opening winning for any netflix show and so y'all remember squid games was the hit Um that was on netflix last year that became really really popular. Um Good show. I actually like the reality show better than the original show. Shout out my brother, Bhajawan Malavey. You saw him as a comedian. He is a comedian. You saw him here on Ball and Buds, Banchard Balls, and Pavado. But he's the one that put me on to the reality show, which was a which was a really, really fun show to watch. And I do not like reality shows. So it was pretty cool, though. Anyway, moving on, the last news hitter here for entertainment news. Hey, y'all.
00:48:56
Speaker
Every year that starts is a new year where there are famous additions to the public domain and copyright Protections come come away. And what does that mean? Well once copyright protections are done because copyright um, uh copyright protections last for 101 years um Technically 100 but it turns out to be 101 with the change of the year anyways, so ah the Sorry, 95 years. Where did I get 101? 95 years, excuse me, is what it is. So these works are from 1929. So in 2020, next year, right, we'll see the ones from 1930. What does it mean when you what you can do with these public copyrights? Well, what you can do is you are free to copy, you're free to share, you're free to build upon, create, anything.
00:49:45
Speaker
So what is really cool about this, and well, it can be cool, but it can also, there's pros and cons to everything, right? But the pro is that everyone now has the ability to use these characters in different ways that they want. So if you wanted to create a new cartoon based off Popeye, ahoy! That's not Popeye, wow!
00:50:09
Speaker
Wait, wasn't that Popeye? Oh wait mate, that's not Popeye, that's a trailer, that's a ship. What did Popeye used to say? Anyways, is coming into the public domain. Also, Tintin, Tintin and the first iteration of mickey mouse so if you want to use any of those characters please do i'm still cracking up about ahoy matey being popeye's slogan that was not it at all oh my god that's hilarious oh oh god that's good you know
00:51:05
Speaker
see ah Ahoy matey, who is ahoy matey? That's not Popeye. I don't remember what it was. Somebody hit me with Popeye's. I don't remember what his line was. Was it just hard? but what not so That's a pirate. Okay, you know what? Somebody let me know. I'm just gonna keep it moving. I'm gonna keep it moving. Alright, let's go ahead and move into our sports headlines. Sports portion of the show before we get up out of here.
00:51:30
Speaker
Sports Illustrated has named their sports person of the year, seven time Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles. Yes, winning three golds and a bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Biles dealt with mental health issues during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
00:51:49
Speaker
and withdrew from the women's team final and four other um or sorry this after she withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. So coming back from all of the mental health issues that she was experiencing and being able to come back so strong and winning four medals um she is the greatest gymnastic uh olympian of all time and possibly and she She's up there for the greatest Olympian of all Olympians, you excuse me, of all time. If you haven't seen my Olympians, ah US s Olympian series on Ball and Buns at Instagram, please check that out. I went ahead and ranked the top five. She is in my top five. I won't tell the word. Biles beat out Shohei Otani and Caitlin Clark. Caitlin Clark was actually the time athlete of the year. So Sports Illustrated Simone Biles, time
00:52:37
Speaker
named Caitlin Clark. All right moving on 17 shout out to 17 year old Phenom taking the darts world by storm. Luke Littler captured the world dart champion on Friday becoming the competition's youngest winner uh usually this is played by obviously older people because darts mainly is played what bars and things like that where you have to be a certain age to be even be able to drink he's not even 18 yet he can't even drink yet but he is a world darts champion this comes after he lost in the final last year um but since he turned pro he has won
00:53:15
Speaker
10 titles and more than a million dollars so when he does turn 18 he'll be able to go and hustle all y'all suckers in any pub at darts go ahead Luke shout out to you in NBA news Jimmy ahler Has requested a trade and boy. Oh boy. Will this divorce not be amicable? He wants out of miami. This started to unravel last year after pat pat riley told him to basically uh, you know Be quiet when you're not on the court because uh, jimmy butler was saying they could have beat the celtics Which they couldn't have complete lie, but whatever um, so now
00:53:55
Speaker
uh you know jimmy had got his feelings hurt over that then he wanted a contract extension he wanted him uh you know a max deal for at least two years pat riley said no you ain't getting the money now he wants to trade the heat have suspended him for seven games and now it is all gone to shit So what we're looking at now is a possible trade and most likely going to happen between Clubber D's sons um and and the Heat. So right now the Heat do not want Bradley Beal from the sons and require a third trade to come in and take Bradley Beal's salary in order to trade Jimmy Butler.
00:54:32
Speaker
I think Jimmy Butler, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker is an awesome big three. um I think they need something to change. Obviously, they're trying to make changes to the starting lineup now um as they are, they took Nurkich and Beale out and replaced them with two rookies. So they're really trying to make some changes there. I really think that that would be a good deal for them. I think Butler does need a change. If I were Miami though, I get it that Beale's salary is $31 million, dollars but Who's gonna you got you got Kevin Love you got high triple j my boy. Hi. May hot is the third shout out ucla brewing a clap Let's go, baby. Oh, i'll see my ucla brewing this friday in college park i'll be there to see y'all boys shout out my boy valentino and all the us marines ooh, rah um anyways, uh, so
00:55:23
Speaker
uh yeah this isn't gonna end well probably gonna end up with the sons unless they can't find a third team but i think that miami should uh take Beal because i think that he would actually fit well into the Miami lineup so i mean we'll see what happens but that that would be my my take on that All right, before we get into the college football playoffs and the nfl playoffs Please make sure you hit that like button Get us up in that algorithm. If you're watching this right now, please hit that like button and as well Make sure you're subscribed to ball and budge b-a-l-l-a-n-d b-u-d-s. Okay
00:55:57

All right. Now, so let's get into our rankings here and then we'll get into the NFL and college. Our men's college basketball rankings for the week. Give me one second here. Let me change this up. Boom. There we go. All right. At number one, your Tennessee Volunteers from Knoxville shout out the volunteers at 14 and 0.
00:56:21
Speaker
Uh, you know, they've been up there for for a while now because the scc Is running shop as you've learned the past three weeks here on this show at number two auburn 13 and one the iowa state cyclones at number three with a 12 and one Record the duke blue devils at number four 12 and two and at number five alabama at 12 and two now if you watch this program You would know that last week I stated that the scc had four out of the top six uh teams because of the fact that florida had moved up to number six well now kentucky has moved up to number six so they still have four teams but get this florida's at number eight so the scc has five of the top eight teams in men's college basketball talk about conference domination that is crazy wow all right moving on to women's college basketball you already know what it is
00:57:15
Speaker
If you've been on this show you already know as followers of this show you do know that I am a UCLA Bruins fan and my lady Bruins Continue their undefeated roll on roll out roll 15 and oh undefeated lady ruins Let's go U-C-L-A, 15 and 0. South Carolina Gamecocks at 14 and 1 at number 2. Notre Dame the fighting Irish at 12 and 2 at number 3. The USC Trojans at number 4, 14 and 1. And then finally at number 5, the Texas Lady Longhorns at 15 and 1. And don't forget F.
00:57:57
Speaker
U.S.C. We don't like the Trojan condoms in UCLA land. Holla! Oh, clap. Eight clap. Wow. I just did three claps for the four clap. You know, I'm just gonna, I'm a little tired today. We made that snowman. It was a lot of, a lot of work. I'm a little tired right now, so like my, my counting's a little off. All right.
00:58:18
Speaker
Let's keep it moving on. We got our NHL and our NBA rankings here before we move into the and NBA and college

Sports Playoff Previews

00:58:24
Speaker
world. So first of all, let's go ahead and hit those NHL rankings for the week. So at number one here in our what they call the super 16 in the NHL dot com.
00:58:35
Speaker
Your Vegas Golden Knights at 25 wins, nine losses, three draws at number one. The Winnipeg Jets at 27 wins, 11 losses, and one draw at number two. The Washington Capitals here in the DMV, 25 wins, 10 losses, two draws at the number three power rank. Alex Ovechkin scored again last night. He is 23 goals shy of Wayne Gretzky, the great ones,
00:59:02
Speaker
goals record. We will see if he can break it this year. I still have with my quick math, 55 games to go for him to get 23 goals. That's a game every, that's a goal every two games pace. Uh, Alex, so best you can, he can do that. I know that.
00:59:21
Speaker
at number four the new jersey devils 24 wins 14 losses three ties and at number five the minnesota wild 23 wins 11 losses and four ties all right onto our nba power rankings number one it's no one i mean the the nba and this is i have it i have an argument right now the and nba and this just came out a few hours ago they released it every tuesday as of the Oklahoma City Thunder with a 30 and five record as the number one team. Now, the Oklahoma City did beat my Celtics the other night, closely contested game. The refs, some bad calls there. I'm not gonna say it it won the game for the Thunder, but it did halt some of the Celtics momentum. i don't I don't make those excuses though, because the officials always suck. So, I do have a problem here though. The Cleveland Cavaliers should be number one.
01:00:13
Speaker
There is no reason that the Oklahoma City Thunder should be number one. Now, you look, Oklahoma City are at 30 and five. Great team. Get it. They're going to be awesome in the playoffs. They're going to be even better when Chet Holmgren gets back. But the Cleveland Cavaliers after last night now have two 10 game winning game winning streets. So they have played 35 games.
01:00:40
Speaker
And 20 of those victories have come in two tanks. That's crazy. So the Cleveland Cavaliers deserve to be on top, especially because they have one more win and one more loss. So I don't know what you're doing, MBA dot.com. But hey, that's my two cents. My Boston Celtics are back up at number three, 26 wins, 10 losses. The New York Knicks down to number four at 24 wins and 12 losses. And the Houston Rockets at number five, 23 wins and 12.
01:01:09
Speaker
lost it. All right. We are gonna move it in before we get up out of here for the night. We're gonna move it into the college football playoffs and the NFL playoffs coming through this week. So before we do that again, please make sure you are subscribed at ball and budge b a l l a n d b u d s subscribe on youtube that's really where we need more subscribers at you can also follow us on instagram that's where we put our promotions up at but yeah youtube is where all the videos will go so make sure you're subscribed there uh as we've gone over our 500

Speaker
uh subscribers but we're still 500 video but we're still trying to get to 500 subscribers so please make sure you subscribe and hit that like button so it goes up in the algorithm all right do that now before i get into this let's go in let's get into the college football playoffs just had to do my do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do brown cow ow now brown cow ow now brown
01:02:17
Speaker
unique new york unique new york practice my enunciation all right anyways college football playoff semifinals are coming up this thursday and friday notar dame will face penn state in the orange bowl on thursday while texas texas with a money sign will That's hilarious. Saturday Night Live if you don't know. Texas will take on um Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl. So gonna have a really cool semi-finals here um for as much Ballyhoo and criticism at well-deserved criticism that the first round got because they didn't do reseeding and ended up with some just seeded bowls that they really
01:03:01
Speaker
Um shouldn't have had uh, you know, the the top four at least is going to be Involving really good teams and what should be at least close matchups now Sucks for oregon because they shouldn't have had to play ohio state in the round of eight But that's how the cookie crumbles and they will be changing that next year reseeding will be happening But anyways, let me take a look at this bracket with you real quick as you can see here straight from the athletic shout out the athletic i subscribed they are also shout out our one of our and NBA insiders here in one of our boys from a long time ago that guy Dave uh check out NBA podcast uh at the athletic so
01:03:40
Speaker
Oregon and Ohio State. You can see play here. Ohio State ah beat them and now has a 58% chance to beat Texas this weekend. We move on down and we see that it is a 50 50 game here for Notre Dame Penn State. So that is a toss up.
01:03:57
Speaker
according to the projections they run thousands of simulations in the and the program which give you these projections. So again you got a toss-up here Notre Dame Penn State which I would agree is about a toss-up and then again Ohio State is favored. So let's go down to our projections and see who is actually projected to win the championship here. You see there is a 39% chance for over the Ohio State to win the national championship with Texas Longhorns with a 25% chance and then you see Penn State Notre Dame tied at number three with 18% apiece.
01:04:31
Speaker
This is followed suit from the past few weeks. The only difference, Oregon dropped out. But pretty much Ohio State and Texas have been your one and two in this projections. If you watch this show every week and you'll know that Ohio State has had the higher of the projections there, you will also know that yours truly at the beginning of the year selected the Ohio State as the champions. This is after I correctly projected Michigan last year. So that will make me two for two.
01:04:57
Speaker
in college football picks in the past two years. So shout out to yours truly. All right, so let's get the picks for this weekend. I have, oh I can't go away from Ohio State as they're my pick to win the whole thing. Ohio State over hot take Jake's Texas Longhorns and then in Notre Dame Penn State. Look, shout out.
01:05:20
Speaker
shout out Marcus Freeman, the job he has done there and Notre Dame since Brian Kelly quit and had to go to run to tell and run to Ellis you to try to win a championship, which he still hasn't.
01:05:33
Speaker
And now his successor, Mark and Freeman is way better. Take that. Take your fake ass country accent and every other thing you got, Brian Kelly, and go ship your yeah hipio buttocks down the Louisiana River. All right? Because Marcus Freeman about to teach you how real coaching works. I got Notre Dame over Penn State here.
01:05:52
Speaker
I'm gonna continue to tell y'all on this program. no Penn State still has not won a big game. SMU was not a big game. Sorry. Boise State, not a big game. Sorry. Yeah, I picked both of the underdogs to win because Penn State still hasn't proven anything to me. James Franklin still hasn't proven he can win a big game. Now, if he were to win this game, I would say, okay, he finally won one big game.

But I would still not project him to win the championship. I got Notre Dame in this one. Yes, it'll be a close game. I'm going to say Ohio State beats Texas by 10,
01:06:29
Speaker
34-24. And I'm going to go 24-21, Notre Dame over Penn State. So those are your college football picks for the semifinals coming up this Thursday and this Friday. And then finally, let's go ahead and give you your NFL playoff picture. Yes, indeed. um So everything is set for this weekend. It is going to be an amazing weekend of playoff games. Top two seeds, as you know, get a buy. Chiefs and Lions both get buys this week. So what we will see here is the um the that mean the top seeds now, the number two seeds going against the sevens and so on and so forth.
01:07:15
Speaker
So right now we will have the bills against the Broncos um and actually would be better than this is probably they have a tree. I don't know if they have a tree um and if not, that's okay.
01:07:28
Speaker
and Not a big deal. um I have the playoffs. We'll just deal with this. This is what I've been using every week for the projection, so it makes sense. Bills versus Broncos, Steelers versus Ravens in a divisional AFC North matchup, and the Chargers versus the Texans. And then in the NFC, you will have the Lions, the Lions, the Eagles,
01:07:52
Speaker
The Eagles ah hosting the Packers, the Commanders visiting the Buccaneers, and the Rams hosting the Vikings after they lost that game to the Lions last night. Now I'm not going to give my picks away on these because we will go through these games tomorrow on the bottom line sports. um So we'll go ahead and get these picks from me tomorrow, but this is the playoff picture for this weekend. um And so it's going to be, again, a very, very amazing weekend of games. I think all of these games should be pretty ah competitive. um So I'm really looking forward to a really good weekend of football Thursday, Friday, college, Saturday,
