Speaker: Welcome to the Legion Outriders podcast.
Speaker: Your source for the latest Legion news, opinion, and analysis.
Speaker: And now, the Outriders.
Speaker: Hello, Outriders, and welcome to episode 156 of the Legion Outriders podcast.
Speaker: I'm Outrider Matt.
Speaker: And Outrider, Dan.
Speaker: Oh, Dan.
Speaker: It's just us today.
Speaker: It is.
Speaker: We don't do the twosome very much.
Speaker: We're usually up for a threesome, but that could have been worded better, I guess.
Speaker: Well, I mean, we have all of our Ewok friends in Ewok noises here.
Speaker: Wow, okay.
Speaker: I thought the bushes were starting to speak, yup, yup.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: No, it's good to see you, man.
Speaker: I know it's been a hot minute since we recorded the last episode, but we're speaking of hot.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: We're literally in the one.
Speaker: I think we maxed out 117, 117.
Speaker: Oh my goodness.
Speaker: Over the weekend here.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Ooh, it is a scorcher out here.
Speaker: I know I've only been away for like three months at this point, but that still sounds like insane to me already.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: All you Northeasterners that complain about your snow.
Speaker: How about come out here for a summer?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Well, we've got air conditioning.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So that's pretty nice.
Speaker: Yeah, we're dipping into, I think we got up to 105 was our high here.
Speaker: the old inland empire, but, uh, definitely Vegas light.
Speaker: But anyways, anyways, uh, yeah, we've got, uh, some Legion stuff to talk about today.
Speaker: Uh, the Ewoks are out there on the loose.
Speaker: We've got some Tempest force sightings, uh, with not everything that maybe we thought would be there, but that's fine.
Speaker: We'll discuss that.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But before we get started on all that, we'd like to take a second to thank our patrons that make recording and publishing this show possible.
Speaker: Specifically, we'd like to thank Ali Kai.
Speaker: Ali Kai boasts the ability to list every state capital in alphabetical order and also an order of GDP.
Speaker: Pretty impressive.
Speaker: I'm just reminded of the old Animaniacs song.
Speaker: Oh, that's a great one.
Speaker: He wrote that.
Speaker: Alec is also credited as the trainer and stunt coordinator for the Stuart Little movies.
Speaker: So that's pretty neat.
Speaker: He wore the mocap suit for Stuart.
Speaker: No, he trained Stuart Little.
Speaker: Stuart Little.
Speaker: That's a person.
Speaker: A little mouse fan anyways.
Speaker: And he got dubbed over by Michael J. Fox.
Speaker: Oh, my goodness.
Speaker: Just happened to sound like Michael J. Fox anyways.
Speaker: Don't ruin my immersion.
Speaker: Anyways, really a fascinating individual everybody should get to know.
Speaker: And if you're enjoying the show and would like to support us, head on over to patreon.com slash Legion Outriders on today's show.
Speaker: Not a whole lot of news other than what was kind of mentioned there.
Speaker: It's been a little news light.
Speaker: Yeah, well, AMG is kind of, you know, focused on the new hotness right now at the moment, but we'll get into that in a later episode of Chatterpoint.
Speaker: On another episode.
Speaker: Yeah, on a different different show that we do.
Speaker: But speaking of AMG, we got to recently.
Speaker: Well, do we want to talk about this now or?
Speaker: No, I mean, where's my notes?
Speaker: Yeah, I had my notes brought up.
Speaker: I write these notes just for you not to read.
Speaker: Yeah, you did.
Speaker: There it is.
Speaker: OK, hold on.
Speaker: Let me put them over here so I can.
Speaker: Yeah, let's just go ahead and start with the news.
Speaker: Yeah, it's the Star Wars news.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Not a lot of Star Wars.
Speaker: There is no news.
Speaker: OK, cool.
Speaker: On the media side of things, it's kind of ground to a halt because the writer's strike has now evolved into an actor's strike as well.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Well, I mean, a lot of people are saying, you know, it's those million dollar actors.
Speaker: Not every actor makes a million dollars.
Speaker: So there are a few people who have legitimate claims here on this one.
Speaker: And it's actually a higher percentage than you'd think.
Speaker: But anyway, this is not a Hollywood politics podcast.
Speaker: You know, we should start a Hollywood politics.
Speaker: Wow.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Then you could just go crazy with all your conspiracy theory rants.
Speaker: But Bob Iger was talking to CNBC about some other things, but he was asked if Disney will be pulling back on Marvel and Star Wars content.
Speaker: Unfortunately, he replied, yes.
Speaker: The quote was, yes, you pull back not just to focus on
Speaker: But it's also part of our cost containment initiative.
Speaker: I like the wording on that, cost containment.
Speaker: He's a very well-spoken individual.
Speaker: I like Bob.
Speaker: So they're working on spending less on what we make and making less.
Speaker: So that sounds like it's going to be Disney across the board as they're just going to be pulling back to...
Speaker: Yeah, they're trying to stabilize the ship right now, I think.
Speaker: Yeah, well, they are actually obligated to buy the last third of Hulu from Comcast at the moment, and they're kind of scrounging for money on that.
Speaker: Oh, wow.
Speaker: I didn't realize they were still making payments on that.
Speaker: Easy payments.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But in other types of media news, a new book is coming out tomorrow, Inquisitor Rides of the Red Blade.
Speaker: And I'm actually looking forward to this one.
Speaker: Today, Dan.
Speaker: This is a podcast.
Speaker: As of recording tomorrow.
Speaker: By the time you're listening to this, it is either releasing or already out.
Speaker: But some previews I've listened to on this, a couple of YouTubers I follow, I've already gotten previews of it, and I haven't had any spoilers yet, but they do explain the selection process of how Inquisitors were chosen to be Inquisitors.
Speaker: So I'm actually interested to see how they kind of flow.
Speaker: That is interesting.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I was kind of curious about to do because, you know, some people are getting purged.
Speaker: Some people are getting brought over to the dark side.
Speaker: So what's the criteria?
Speaker: Is there a checkbox?
Speaker: I know that you're trying to make yourself the most attractive candidate you can to be recruited by the inquisitorial team.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's the.
Speaker: being okay with the dark side and not wanting to end up on the business end of a lightsaber probably.
Speaker: Oh, that kind of deal.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: But I already had a previewed on Audible for a while, so I'm just waiting for that to unlock so I can start that.
Speaker: Nice.
Speaker: Very cool.
Speaker: You have to let me know how that goes.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Get a few events coming up too.
Speaker: Yes, there are some events.
Speaker: Speaking of which, I just submitted my list for Lone Star Open.
Speaker: That's going to be happening this weekend.
Speaker: When's the list due date on that?
Speaker: Uh, that's an excellent question that I have an answer for because Zane, Mr. Hot and Tasty, excuse me, hot and frosty.
Speaker: He's always going to be hot and tasty for me.
Speaker: He sent that out today.
Speaker: I was like, oh yeah, we should probably blast that as well.
Speaker: If you're going to LSO and you haven't submitted a list, submit the list now.
Speaker: He needs time to preview the list and make sure everything's legal there.
Speaker: The event is the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd.
Speaker: As of recording, literally right around the corner.
Speaker: I'm landing Friday and then I'm gaming Saturday and Sunday.
Speaker: I have not done any Legion in
Speaker: I don't know.
Speaker: Recent memories.
Speaker: Old Turkey going right in.
Speaker: Seriously, I'm mostly going to just play games.
Speaker: If I go 0 and 6, I am absolutely okay with that because I'm just going to be excited to be hanging out with my peeps and playing games again.
Speaker: Nice.
Speaker: We're slowly putting a community together here, but they're doing like some like campaign and it's all skirmish.
Speaker: And I'm like, uh...
Speaker: Let's let them season a little bit longer and we'll get some games in there.
Speaker: But, uh,
Speaker: Okay, and they always seem to be doing it on Saturdays, which is my day to do other things with Holly.
Speaker: But anyways, here nor there.
Speaker: But yeah, so if you're going to LSO, make sure to get that in there.
Speaker: Get on the GameUpLink.
Speaker: Make sure you're registered in there.
Speaker: I saw there's still like 30 some odd people that haven't, you know, there's 80 plus people registered for the event and only like 50 or so have checked in.
Speaker: Well, at least on GameUpLink.
Speaker: So now I'm done.
Speaker: You can't yell at me, Zane.
Speaker: Not for this anyways.
Speaker: But he also wanted me to mention that for anybody that's going there on Friday night after setup, there is a plan for a community to go out to Hard 8 BBQ, which apparently is a stonking good barbecue joint out there.
Speaker: Which is funny because I was actually going out there to meet a friend of mine and he was taking me to Hard 8.
Speaker: So I was like, that's perfect.
Speaker: Well, I'll just go and get barbecue and be fat.
Speaker: It'll be great.
Speaker: Nice.
Speaker: Yes, I had a coworker that was sent out to the Rolex service center in Dallas, and literally the entire shop asked him to bring back barbecue sauce, not actual, you know, stuff that wouldn't survive on a plane.
Speaker: And he did not.
Speaker: So I'm very disappointed to that.
Speaker: So hearing that you're going to be enjoying this Texas barbecue.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm not getting you barbecue sauce either.
Speaker: The opportunity presents itself.
Speaker: How about that?
Speaker: Do you like spicy or sweet?
Speaker: Oh, I, you know, I'm not usually a fan of sweet things, but I'm barbecue sauce.
Speaker: I do lean the sweet.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's tasty.
Speaker: But anyways, okay.
Speaker: So I will definitely be reporting back after the event and I'm sure we'll probably get Zane on to talk about from the perspective of running it too.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: We need to, while you're out there, ask him or I'm sure he's listening now, Zane, you're, you're obligated next episode.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: Thanks bud.
Speaker: Good talk.
Speaker: That's the kind of relation we have.
Speaker: But of course, not long after that is LVO in 186 days.
Speaker: You just had to slide that on in there, huh?
Speaker: Well, I was on the FLG website because I was actually picking up a new 3x3 mat that I could use with Shatterpoint.
Speaker: But I popped over to the LVO page and I noticed that doubles and unconventional still have tickets available.
Speaker: So if you are interested in going to LVO, and although the main event is out,
Speaker: And you still want to go, honestly, pick up one of those.
Speaker: There's still a standby list.
Speaker: There's always availability because obviously with the big with travel, a lot of people drop.
Speaker: So yeah, there's always has been availability for standby people just to join the event.
Speaker: So pick up one of those tickets so that you can get into the event and then you're pretty much set to get into it.
Speaker: But also the speaking of Shatterpoint, the after hours event at LVO still has tickets available too.
Speaker: So yeah.
Speaker: Nice.
Speaker: Yeah, I need to see, got to talk to you, old Bear Chemist, see if we need to register for that or if we can just kind of like, hey, can staff participate?
Speaker: No, it's hey, hey.
Speaker: If you are, of course, purchasing anything for LVO or Frontline Gaming, we do recommend that you use the YavinBase affiliate link because definitely supporting Endless.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: You mentioned he's going to be streaming at LSO, right?
Speaker: Yeah, I saw on the list that he will be there, so I'm very excited to touch base with our buddy over there.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So I look forward to seeing you, Dave, especially when you come out to LVO.
Speaker: So anyway.
Speaker: Oh, man.
Speaker: Ewoks.
Speaker: You got some Ewoks.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: So very unexpectedly, apparently we are on the good boy list for AMG.
Speaker: Good boy.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: The toddle along now.
Speaker: So they sent us some of the new Ewok wave and I got to do kind of like I did with the Shatterpoint stuff, just do an impromptu.
Speaker: I was literally streaming and Holly walked in with a box.
Speaker: They're like, hey, this is from Atomic Mass Games.
Speaker: I was like, you were good to bring this to me right now.
Speaker: For those of our patrons on the video cast here, are those on the table sitting behind you?
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yes, they are right there.
Speaker: They're waiting to be boxed up and shipped out to you, actually.
Speaker: But yeah, so we got, oh, by the way, the video of the unboxing, while it's kind of meandering, it is up on the YouTube channel.
Speaker: And we might- It's on your Twitch too, but that's not gonna last forever.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, that goes away after a little while.
Speaker: So this is up on YouTube if you want to check it out.
Speaker: But yeah, we got a box of the Ewok Warriors, the low gray wicket and the AT-ST.
Speaker: So we got to do the little unboxing there.
Speaker: It was very cool.
Speaker: I love all the glee of opening new things for the first time to look at them.
Speaker: And then I get to pack them back up and send them to Dan or Jeff, because I'm not gonna use them.
Speaker: shatter point box so i can't really complain not not at all but uh they're they're neat kits uh yeah it's all on sprue so hard plastic confirmed i think i was one of the first ones to scoop that because diff well dirty diff was watching my stream when it happened and he was like open the atst
Speaker: So I was like, yeah, he's like, okay, okay.
Speaker: Then I guess he jumped over to the Legion Discord to spill the beans.
Speaker: But there we go.
Speaker: That's how the news cycle works around here.
Speaker: But thank you very much to Atomax Games.
Speaker: Speaking of, we've been putting links in the show notes for all of this stuff.
Speaker: And basically why we're still on the good boy list is because there's a little metric they use.
Speaker: So if you guys see those little links in the show notes, give it a click real quick.
Speaker: It just shows that we're getting the word out.
Speaker: you know, on their behalf.
Speaker: And hopefully they'll send us more stuff.
Speaker: Who doesn't like free stuff and talking about it?
Speaker: It's one of those shortened links.
Speaker: And I've mainly been linking it on the show notes for the Shatterpoint stuff because it does link directly to the Shatterpoint main page.
Speaker: But we did ask AMG if there's any different link we should use for Legion.
Speaker: They said no, continues the Shatterpoint one.
Speaker: So if you
Speaker: are here for Legion content and you're noticing links directing you to Shatterpoint, don't freak out.
Speaker: It's okay.
Speaker: They said that they'll be looking into doing Legion-specific ones here soon.
Speaker: But like you said, they're frying other fish right now.
Speaker: Okay, so yeah, the Ewoks are cool.
Speaker: We finally... Do we want to say anything else?
Speaker: I think we've talked Ewoks to death.
Speaker: Yeah, and I mean, especially during that, because I was in chat.
Speaker: Still kicking myself.
Speaker: I should have hopped on a stream.
Speaker: Yeah, I didn't even think about it.
Speaker: But yeah, that's that's part of the downfalls of the impromptu stuff is everything goes wrong.
Speaker: Yeah, no, you were messing as I was driving home from work and I'm like, yeah, get home so I can start setting this stuff up on socials.
Speaker: I promise next time that happens, Dan, I will wait for you.
Speaker: OK.
Speaker: That or you can slap me next time you see me or something.
Speaker: Who knows when it's going to show up?
Speaker: I wasn't really expecting this.
Speaker: It's a surprise to be sure, but a pleasant one.
Speaker: Indeed.
Speaker: But a surprise, but an unwelcome one, maybe.
Speaker: Well, it's not unwelcome.
Speaker: We were, we were,
Speaker: I have to admit, Empire is getting a little too many battle forces.
Speaker: Let's get some battle forces for the other factions out here.
Speaker: Nah, screw those guys.
Speaker: Anyways.
Speaker: Come on.
Speaker: Republican George needs some more battle forces.
Speaker: Oh, I'm sure.
Speaker: They're just less interesting.
Speaker: kidding hey this is an iconic thing that we know has been coming for a while with the ewok release the battle force is with the waves you know yeah this was this and this battle force was literally announced when ewoks were originally announced back what mini strafagans one million years ago it's been literally over a year since
Speaker: So, I mean, that was that was before even AMG took the reins, right?
Speaker: Like, no, the mini-strap again started with AMG.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: They were the fantasy flight was the, but I'm sure it was already in the pipeline.
Speaker: Oh, I'm sure.
Speaker: Yeah, it was already developed and whatnot since, uh,
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So now we've had enough time that we should probably see, you know, more of their cadence on what what's going to be coming down.
Speaker: So I wouldn't be shocked if that we start seeing a little bit more spread there.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But Tempest Force, this is well, Dan, tell us all about Tempest Force.
Speaker: What is it?
Speaker: Well, Tempest Force canonically is the Imperial garrison that was at the shield bunker.
Speaker: You know, the entire legion of my best troops.
Speaker: They didn't train against teddy bears, though.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: Ternibalistic teddy bears.
Speaker: Oh, but yes, it was at the Battle of Endor.
Speaker: Yeah, it's very AT-ST focused, which is very nice, at least.
Speaker: And that was the question is, how are they going to contrast this with Blizzard Force?
Speaker: And I think they did a very good job contrasting it.
Speaker: Honestly, I think you're right on that as well.
Speaker: Because what do you think about when you think about Endor Force's, you know, scout troopers?
Speaker: AT-STs?
Speaker: AT-STs and speeder bikes.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So we're all here in droves.
Speaker: Fantastic.
Speaker: OK, so let's go ahead and take a look then.
Speaker: We got some special rules because, you know, Battle Force things happen.
Speaker: What can you sum up for us on that one, Dan?
Speaker: Well, like we just mentioned, it's very, very vehicle focus.
Speaker: So I mean, yeah, so vehicles in the Army Gain Scout, too.
Speaker: Let's just start with that one.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Uh, you know, drive my AT-STs closer.
Speaker: I want to hit them.
Speaker: We hit them with my Wookiee.
Speaker: Oh, yes.
Speaker: Wrong side.
Speaker: Uh, so yeah.
Speaker: Uh, get, you get, I mean, speeder bikes don't need this honestly, cause they move so dang fast anyway, but you could be moving faster.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: So, I mean, scout to, no, I think this is mostly for AT-STs to push them forward.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Uh, and combine that with the, uh, rollout, um,
Speaker: battlefield card where you can start outside the deployment zone and then scout to from there with the size of that ATSD base.
Speaker: I mean, you're literally in the middle of the board.
Speaker: Yeah, you're going to start meleeing round one.
Speaker: Yeah, you're within range of your opponent's deployment zone immediately.
Speaker: One interesting downside, units that are not in command range of a friendly commander unit and do not have a comms upgrade equipped with one less suppression during the remove token step.
Speaker: So interesting, a little bit of suppression keeping.
Speaker: I guess we'll chalk this up to the Ewok Hunt battle mode of Battlefront with the Stormtroopers.
Speaker: Oh, God.
Speaker: Did I just trigger some flashbacks?
Speaker: That was an intense mode.
Speaker: I haven't played in a while, but man.
Speaker: Yeah, so that's kind of interesting.
Speaker: I guess it's to simulate how they got overwhelmed, you know, people coming out of the bushes and the trees.
Speaker: And Han Solo putting on an AT-ST driver's helmet, doing his extreme close-up with the microphone over his mouth.
Speaker: Yes, sir, we've driven them back, so you might as well open up so we can go inside.
Speaker: Obviously, he'd been working on his spiel since the whole Death Star thing in the first movie, so...
Speaker: Send out your troops, we're all fine here.
Speaker: Thanks.
Speaker: We're going here.
Speaker: How are you?
Speaker: It's like poetry.
Speaker: It rhymes.
Speaker: No.
Speaker: It's like disappointment.
Speaker: It has a bitter taste.
Speaker: And one more interesting upside.
Speaker: During setup at the start of the deploy unit step, you can set aside one friendly special forces or support unit.
Speaker: marking them with condition token.
Speaker: When you draw the order token and rank with matches, the friendly set aside.
Speaker: If you can't choose someone on the battlefield with matching rank, you must place the set aside unit beyond range two of all enemy units.
Speaker: You get one additional free rapid reinforcements of a special forces or support.
Speaker: And it's a little spoiler alert.
Speaker: That's either a scout trooper unit or a speeder bike unit.
Speaker: That's pretty good.
Speaker: Yeah, that's pretty good considering scouts within range, you know, beyond range too, so they can move up and blat blat with all the black bikes or get some speeder bikes in a definitely interesting flanking position.
Speaker: Oh, 100% speeder bikes is where I'd go with that.
Speaker: That actually sounds... I mean, there's some cases for a scout saboteur unit that could really mess with you.
Speaker: That's fair, but you're wrong.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: I want speeder bikes swooping down the field.
Speaker: Just coming in.
Speaker: Where I think things are wrong, though.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: The allowed units list.
Speaker: Seems good to me.
Speaker: No problems here.
Speaker: Okay, let's go on to rank requirements now.
Speaker: All right, dude.
Speaker: I believe there is a big typo here.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Because in commanders, it's just the Imperial officer.
Speaker: No, no, it's obviously the typo is Major Marquand because that can't be a name.
Speaker: We will get to Lord Farquad.
Speaker: New favorite name for him that's going on.
Speaker: Some of you may die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
Speaker: Special forces, scout troopers, no strike teams.
Speaker: Another interesting missing typo here.
Speaker: Chorus, stormtroopers.
Speaker: There's so many trees.
Speaker: Snipers, where are you going to shoot?
Speaker: There's trees everywhere.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Support is speeder bikes.
Speaker: Heavy is the AT-ST and Major Mark 1 Farquad.
Speaker: Unique upgrades, none.
Speaker: So yeah, where is Aiden?
Speaker: On the other side of the planet.
Speaker: Not participating in this particular fight?
Speaker: I'm going to choose to believe that AMG submitted this list with Aiden in it, and the Lucasfilm... I forgot which group works with them.
Speaker: Gestapo.
Speaker: Yeah, well...
Speaker: Oh, the licensee relations or whatever said, oh, no, wait.
Speaker: No, no.
Speaker: They weren't in the movie.
Speaker: Therefore, they can't be in this list.
Speaker: I'm going to choose to believe that Lucasfilm told them they couldn't have Iden.
Speaker: I'm not going to blame AMG on this one.
Speaker: I am disappointed.
Speaker: I am not happy.
Speaker: It's starting to vibrate again, guys.
Speaker: Is that vein sticking out?
Speaker: Oh my god, there's like three veins sticking out.
Speaker: Holy crap.
Speaker: If you'd like to see the video of vein sticking out of my forehead, please join our Patreon.
Speaker: So yes, at the time of release, I did post some very inflammatory GIFs of how disappointed I was.
Speaker: You did.
Speaker: I just want my boo Aiden to be in a battle force so I can have battle force-y fun.
Speaker: You know which battle force she's in?
Speaker: Empire.
Speaker: That's how she rolls.
Speaker: Daughter of the Empire right there.
Speaker: Until she's not because she betrays them all and then goes over to the rebels like the hero she is.
Speaker: So unlike that sergeant, I was expecting special forces.
Speaker: Unfortunately, they did not come in.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So rank requirements.
Speaker: Commander must include one to two commander units, but there's a way around that with field commander because this actually is the, I think one of the first battle forces that allows field commander.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Maybe.
Speaker: Who knows?
Speaker: I don't play the other ones.
Speaker: Special Forces.
Speaker: Each army must include two to six Special Forces units.
Speaker: This is the you-must-buy-more-scout boxes.
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: Anything else?
Speaker: Well, interesting thing on this, to sidebar, because, you know, no strike teams are allowed and because you get the extra minis in the box for a strike team and a full unit, buying four boxes will net you five units.
Speaker: If you want the six, you still need one more box, but without using the heavy models...
Speaker: You can buy four boxes of Scouts to get five squads, which would have been great if that six squad could have been Inferno squad.
Speaker: But anyway.
Speaker: Yeah, they don't exist.
Speaker: They're deep undercover.
Speaker: So you can use the Scouts with the long rifles.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: So you can use them all.
Speaker: Yeah, no, no.
Speaker: So in a box of Scouts, I don't know if you're
Speaker: talking about the point I made earlier, is that what you're relating to?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: You get five non-heavy scout models in a box.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So four of those boxes will net you five four-man squads.
Speaker: You can use the heavy.
Speaker: Yeah, and then you can use the heavy in addition to that.
Speaker: Ah, I see where you're going with that.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: You can use every model in there.
Speaker: It doesn't just because there's a sniper guy on the stand doesn't mean it's all about the upgrade cards.
Speaker: Yeah, exactly.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Cool.
Speaker: I just want to make sure that we're communicating at that point.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Four man squads naked, four man squads with sniper, four man squads with saboteur.
Speaker: You can run them either way on that.
Speaker: So do it all.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Ah, where's that?
Speaker: Core.
Speaker: Core.
Speaker: One to three.
Speaker: So you can just throw one little token group of stormtroopers in there and flood the board with scouts if you want.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And with that Scout 3 that they have, you know, they're already moving up.
Speaker: Just because that one guy, that one guy got boloed around the neck.
Speaker: You mean Wicked?
Speaker: Because he boloed his own face?
Speaker: Forgot about that.
Speaker: Thank you.
Speaker: Hey, I saw Return of the Jedi for you.
Speaker: Free the anniversary in theaters.
Speaker: Yes, you did.
Speaker: So fresh in the mind here.
Speaker: So, OK, some stormy troopers, bunch of scout troopers.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Who cares?
Speaker: Up to three support units.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So three speeder bikes.
Speaker: So not the four speeder bikes of Blizzard Force, which I think was an intentional thing.
Speaker: It's nice of them to share.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: But here's where it gets heavy.
Speaker: Delicious.
Speaker: Read it slow.
Speaker: Each army may include up to three heavy units.
Speaker: It's the unconventional warfare faction.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Battle group.
Speaker: Triple ATSD in a battle course.
Speaker: Oh, that's hot.
Speaker: In a tournament legal.
Speaker: Ooh, yeah.
Speaker: Good thing you can throw those pretty cheap, tons of those pretty cheap scout trooper squads in because you're going to need the points elsewhere.
Speaker: As somebody who started my career kind of as a Empire double ATST player, the triple ATST is looking pretty hot and tempting right now, I gotta say.
Speaker: Because especially there is a new ATST card we can use.
Speaker: So that is our good friend Major Marquand, or Lord Farquand, as I like to call him.
Speaker: He is Tempest Scout 2.
Speaker: Who's Tempest Scout 1?
Speaker: I personally choose to believe it's Iden, but anyway.
Speaker: You can believe whatever you want, man.
Speaker: 190 points.
Speaker: Standard ATST stat line, you know, armor, arsenal two, weak point rear one.
Speaker: He, unlike the Chewbacca card, has all the upgrades built in, so no separate upgrades.
Speaker: Unlike or like?
Speaker: Like Chewbacca.
Speaker: Yeah, okay.
Speaker: Yeah, so he's got the, you know, the twin blaster, the...
Speaker: Well, the built-in chin blaster, the twin blaster, and the grenade launcher.
Speaker: Extra things he has, though.
Speaker: Surge hit.
Speaker: Yay!
Speaker: Yeah, built in.
Speaker: Well, that's good, because that's good.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Because that's good.
Speaker: And field commander, like we talked about earlier.
Speaker: So this guy could be your mounted commander.
Speaker: I like it.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: And a little extra spice direct vehicle.
Speaker: So three free order token on one of your vehicles, which, of course, you know, you'll be bringing those vehicles.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Also, I'd like to bring to point the armored cavalry picture.
Speaker: So AT-AT is confirmed.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: I mean, they're in several pieces of this art and the we need reinforcements.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: AT-AT, there's
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: All for 190 points.
Speaker: So actually roughly about the point of a... Actually, I didn't need to bring that up.
Speaker: Let me see here.
Speaker: It's in the neighborhood for sure.
Speaker: If you just bought and built that individually.
Speaker: Got the Arsenal too.
Speaker: Okay, so it's not quite full on.
Speaker: Well, you can't take Weiss with this, right?
Speaker: Yeah, it's unique.
Speaker: This is unique and it's completely within.
Speaker: And of course, it's special issue Tempest Forest.
Speaker: So you can only take this in Tempest Forest.
Speaker: Oh, okay.
Speaker: There you go.
Speaker: So let's just see here.
Speaker: An ATSD with a Hammer Pilot, the Twin, and the Grenade Launcher.
Speaker: So built the exact same way.
Speaker: It is 183 points.
Speaker: So for 16 points, you're getting all this other stuff.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Direct vehicle, field commander, and it's your commander.
Speaker: I like it.
Speaker: But of course, being a field commander, he is bringing some order cards.
Speaker: Now, of course, Dempest Force is bringing some, but he's bringing some as well.
Speaker: It's nice to have choices.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: You really want to go through these all?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: I'll go ahead and start out with the first one pip.
Speaker: Drive them out for Tempest Force.
Speaker: This is one vehicle only.
Speaker: Tempest Force only.
Speaker: Friendly vehicles gain Demoralize one this round.
Speaker: This round, the first time a friendly vehicle with a face-up order token displaces an enemy unit during its activation.
Speaker: Roll a white defense dice for each miniature in the enemy unit.
Speaker: For each surge or block result, the enemy unit suffers one wound.
Speaker: I don't want to get stompy with an AT-ST.
Speaker: Yes, reckless driver.
Speaker: Oh my goodness.
Speaker: And of course with our good friend Lord Farquaad, he has direct, so he gives an extra ordered face-up token to another vehicle.
Speaker: So you get two vehicles this round who get to go stomping.
Speaker: And I love the art where it's just two ATSUs just lighting up in Ewok Village.
Speaker: Yeah, just blasting the crap out of it.
Speaker: I might actually have to get down to FedEx office or something with this and get these actually printed out in nice paper.
Speaker: A nice art book for this stuff would be great.
Speaker: We've been saying that since...
Speaker: I say that every time I think about it.
Speaker: Anytime the art wows me, I say that someday, someday it might come true.
Speaker: To PIP.
Speaker: And of course, this is Tempest Force only.
Speaker: So you don't have to have our good friend, the Major in for this particular one, but it just gets better when he's in there.
Speaker: 2-Pip, we need reinforcements.
Speaker: Yes, we need more Ewok destruction.
Speaker: 2-Pip, two troopers, friendly units that have a face-up order token, gain disengage.
Speaker: So this is the Ewoks have slammed into your lines and you need to run back with an objective or something.
Speaker: Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, yeah.
Speaker: Honestly, I think this is one of the weaker cards in the list, but it's more objective.
Speaker: So this kind of reminds me of the tactical droid just moonwalk out of combat.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker: Hard to me.
Speaker: So I think there's some definite uses you can get out of this bad boy, and I'm very excited to see it.
Speaker: I think it's a good addition.
Speaker: Okay, so the three pip for this set, constantly alert, three units, Tempest Force only.
Speaker: When a unit is issued in order with this card, it gains one aim token for each enemy unit at range one.
Speaker: Mm.
Speaker: If it did not gain any aim tokens, it gains a standby token.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Hey, even if you don't get anything, you still get something.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: So yes, come forward, Ewoks.
Speaker: Come and try and poke me with your spears.
Speaker: Oh, man.
Speaker: So the combo is to drive them out, get real close, stomp on them a bit, and then boom, constantly alert.
Speaker: Just...
Speaker: It's beautiful.
Speaker: Oh, so.
Speaker: But our good friend, the Major does bring a few cards of his own.
Speaker: He has a one pip called Gunner Infantry.
Speaker: It only gives an order to himself, though.
Speaker: During his activation, Major Forward Farquad reduces his speed by one to a minimum of one, gains tactical one this round and his weapons gain suppressive.
Speaker: So this is a pseudo tactical strike for a single AT-ST.
Speaker: It's pretty neat.
Speaker: Oh, it does call out the major specifically.
Speaker: So, you know, you can't do, you know, no, there's no order giving direct redirection shenanigans, but still, you know, but I think you hit it on the head.
Speaker: That's, that's exactly what it is.
Speaker: It's a, a one person, you know, all singing, all dancing orbital strike.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: So the two pet for this one squadron on me, he's very, very heroic.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: This is hitting himself as well.
Speaker: At the start of Major Farquad's activation, each other friendly vehicle unit at range one of him may perform a free pivot.
Speaker: Then they may make a speed one move.
Speaker: Useful.
Speaker: So useful.
Speaker: So your wall of ATSDs, which of course, with the new line of sight rules, no one can see through.
Speaker: So you literally have a wall.
Speaker: Left face.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And hide all your scouts behind it so that when things get close enough, they can pop out and range to black dice them to death.
Speaker: They go from shield wall formation to conga line and then everybody's like, ooh.
Speaker: So yeah, I mean, this is a good maneuvering all the other vehicles around you.
Speaker: And of course, it's just each other friendly vehicle.
Speaker: So if you've got speeder bikes, too, that happen to be speeding in an interesting direction, you can do that.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: And the three pip and you were talking about earlier where there's ATSDs on the art.
Speaker: This is just amazing art of just Imperial armor.
Speaker: Goodness.
Speaker: Three pip armored cavalry.
Speaker: Three vehicles.
Speaker: So yeah, bring three ATSDs.
Speaker: That's your choice.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: When another friendly vehicle begins its activation at range one of major Farquaad, it may choose one of the following effects.
Speaker: If it's in his front arc, it can gain a dodge.
Speaker: If it's in his side arc, he can gain an aim.
Speaker: And in his rear arc, may perform a speed one move.
Speaker: So for those of you who are modeling your ATSDs, make sure your arcs are on your base so you're not covering it up with your brain.
Speaker: Because I think this is the first card that calls out
Speaker: positioning in arcs that's not you know firing arc based yeah i think for those of you who are like that's pretty cool yeah no it's a good it's interesting design space uh there's a lot they can do with this in the future uh but yeah i just fear for all the people that you know hobbied up their bases so much that uh they only painted the front arcs at least or if they put any arcs because you're definitely going to need to figure out what arc you're in yeah what if you're right on the line dan you get both
Speaker: I will have to check in with a... You get neither?
Speaker: You get to pick one?
Speaker: I need Rules Lawyer Jeff to weigh in on this one.
Speaker: Where's Clone Jeff?
Speaker: Oh, right.
Speaker: He's moving right now.
Speaker: Everyone's moving except me.
Speaker: You're a rock.
Speaker: You're our anchor.
Speaker: You're our port in a storm.
Speaker: Oh, so... Back to rock!
Speaker: All right.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: I'll serenade you later.
Speaker: It's, it's so good.
Speaker: Is it going to steal some of the thunder?
Speaker: I'm really curious to see if we're going to see some, uh, Tempest and Ewoks this week.
Speaker: Oh yeah.
Speaker: Over at LSO.
Speaker: Cause that's, uh, they're, they're out.
Speaker: They're going to be out this weekend, so they should be legal.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I think they did.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: I know some people have already started getting packages from like miniature market and whatnot.
Speaker: So, yeah.
Speaker: So other than the, uh, three color requirements, um,
Speaker: They should be legal for LSO, right?
Speaker: I believe you can knock out a Ewok in like two minutes of models just to get the basics.
Speaker: I'm brown or primum white and throw some I'm thinking Army Painter's Quick Shade or the GW's.
Speaker: I'm forgetting some of the dip.
Speaker: It's so hot out here.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Then do a quick, you know, highlight on them.
Speaker: And there you go.
Speaker: There you go.
Speaker: You got a crappy brown headband or something.
Speaker: I'm interested to see how people are going to be painting their Ewoks for their unit differentiation.
Speaker: Like I can tell if, you know, this is what are they all going to have like little red ponchos on or little hoods?
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: That's probably what you're going to need to do.
Speaker: But yeah, a lot of chatter online is saying the Tempest Force kind of counters most things that Ewoks do because, you know, giving suppressive when you which is funny because historically we know historically.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Canonically.
Speaker: This is part of history.
Speaker: I am awaiting the, you know, update to this battle force to add in, I didn't an inferno because obviously the, you keep waiting.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: It's, it's good.
Speaker: It's fine.
Speaker: You keep the home fires burning.
Speaker: It'll happen.
Speaker: AMG.
Speaker: If you just want to give me the, whatever the password is to edit this, uh,
Speaker: this PDF so I can just add in Inferno there.
Speaker: Yeah, just just a little white out on there.
Speaker: And yeah, there you go.
Speaker: Oh, yeah.
Speaker: So I hope for the day that I can run Iden in Battle Force.
Speaker: I continue to wait.
Speaker: You're just going to you're just going to what you need is a Iden specific ability that says I can join any battle for she wants.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Because that's the point of Inferno Squad, right?
Speaker: No one expects a special force.
Speaker: Yes.
Speaker: Oh my goodness.
Speaker: But yeah, it looks good.
Speaker: I can't wait to see it on the table.
Speaker: I really am tempted to play this.
Speaker: And of course, giving a reason for all us Empire players who already have two AT-STs to pick up the third one.
Speaker: I'm going to get my AT-STs and bikes.
Speaker: We're rocking it like a wave one release style again.
Speaker: Oh yeah, no, I mean, this is... Stormtroopers, Scouts, AT-STs, bikes, holy cow, man.
Speaker: The latest released item that goes in this list is Scout Troopers, and that was 2019.
Speaker: Wave 2, yeah.
Speaker: Wave 3 or 4.
Speaker: Yeah, it was very early on, but... So yeah, I'm curious to see if LSO has any lists...
Speaker: So yeah, we'll definitely have to talk about it.
Speaker: They did have a little matrix.
Speaker: You're putting me once more.
Speaker: Are you on the spot here?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: They did have a part of a breakdown because that might be actually interesting to check out real quick.
Speaker: Well, none of the lists are in yet.
Speaker: So if you're going to LSO, make sure you do get your list in like we mentioned earlier.
Speaker: Yep.
Speaker: I'm curious now.
Speaker: But is there actually a breakdown?
Speaker: Stats.
Speaker: Here we go.
Speaker: So far.
Speaker: Oh, wow.
Speaker: 14 Empire, 12 Republic.
Speaker: Nine rebels, maybe two separatists and three mercenaries.
Speaker: It kind of cuts off a little bit.
Speaker: Yes, of course.
Speaker: But this is only... How many is this now?
Speaker: This is... Well, math, I guess.
Speaker: 65 out of 84 now.
Speaker: Oh, good.
Speaker: More people have been obviously getting emails.
Speaker: Good thing we talked about it.
Speaker: So the more people are all thinking...
Speaker: So another 19 or so need to get logged in there, but okay.
Speaker: Well, that's it.
Speaker: I think this was just kind of a quick and done, get it in the box and send it out and we'll have more to talk about post LSO.
Speaker: Oh yes.
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: Very excited there.
Speaker: But Dan, it's always a pleasure to see your beautiful face.
