Speaker: I love watching him play, but he's a tactical problem for Juventus. He's not a modern footballer. He offers nothing in terms of pressing, defending, running. He's slow. He's inflexible tactically. He's not compatible with his teammates. He can't play in a 4 -3 -3. He kills the 4 -3 -3 formation. He's not a number nine. You can't play him on the wing.
Speaker: The following is a clip from this week's Italian football podcast.
Speaker: If you play him in a front two, which he can play in, that kills wingers, so it kills Kulessevsky, it kills Kiesa. I think the only formation you can play him in is a 4 -2 -3 -1, it's a number 10. So here's a problem, he's a big problem for Juventus.
Speaker: I think the broader point here is what we spoke about a couple of weeks ago about how Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, these types of players in terms of how they don't press, they barely move and walk around the pitch, that you can't have that in modern football anymore, that these players are being phased out, that you need to attack, you need to press as a unit and defend as a unit, and these players don't offer that.
