dyerneedpod: We are... BACK! with not another but a brand... new podcast. This is The Dire Need of a Podcast, and I am your host, Chris Dyer.

dyerneedpod: Welcome ladies and gentlemen. And I am joined by none other than producer Christian. My man, what is going on?

brish: Hey, how we doing?

dyerneedpod: doing Great. Thanks for joining. yes it is true the rumors are true everything you've been hearing in the media is true We are back.

dyerneedpod: I am back with another podcast idea. Shocker. We will get into the details of what this is a little bit later, but I'm going to have to start off. with a question. To you, Christian.

dyerneedpod: and also to the audience

brish: Okay, let's do it.

dyerneedpod: Well, I say you, not necessarily you just yet, but...

brish: Okay.

dyerneedpod: You're you're here for me to you know to talk to, so you're you're going to be the one getting the question. but

brish: Sounds good.

dyerneedpod: What is the worst place your kid has ever had to pee? Without a restroom in sight.

brish: Well considering I don't have a kid. Considering I heard a... a story about it. A kid peeing somewhere, not a restroom. Today, I think that I'll I'll pass this one back to you.

dyerneedpod: Yeah. All right. Backstory for everybody. My son Caleb, six -year -old. Boy. Awesome kid. Had baseball practice a couple days ago. And of course...

dyerneedpod: I ask before practice, before we leave, hey. Do you need to go to the bathroom Pretty common question in this household. He goes. No. Alright.

dyerneedpod: So we go to practice. Drive all the way there. I'm not joking, Christian, when I say... Five minutes into practice, this boy runs up to me and says I have to go potty.

dyerneedpod: Shaking my head. Oh. Well... Christian, we practiced at an elementary school. We practiced on an elementary school field.

brish: see you You don't even practice where you guys play?

dyerneedpod: is

dyerneedpod: Nope, we don't practice at the baseball fields that we have our games. We have a separate location for practice, which is a great location. It's actually closer than the the field, so I'm okay with it, but...

brish: Alright, yeah, fair.

dyerneedpod: It's an elementary school. This is at like 630. The school's closed. I take them over there. I check the doors just in case. Yeah, locked. Of course they're locked. Why would they be open at 6 o 'clock at night?

dyerneedpod: I'm looking around and there are not many options. I'm seeing some houses. I'm like, I could go knock on a random person's house and be like, hey, my son needs to go to the bathroom, but that's weird. ah I'm thinking real hard here, right?

dyerneedpod: Yes. I literally, i either thought the thought crossed my mind. Do I have an empty water bottle in my car? Do I show him this ancient technique? this early in his life.

dyerneedpod: ah But then...

brish: Sure. Unfortunately, all you had was the awala and that was just not gonna happen

dyerneedpod: Yeah. Yeah. the brand new awala yeah that's not happening But then, Christian. I see a trusted friend, a place that I, as an avid golfer,

dyerneedpod: have gotten real close with.

brish: Hmm.

dyerneedpod: Close to him, I see the bushes. So I go to Kayla and go, hey, buddy. This is your only option. And boom, problem solved. Huh, there's a sense of panic there for sure. I was not really quite sure how we were gonna solve this one But... ah So look kind of a funny part to this story that I didn't tell you is one of his teammates

dyerneedpod: ah actually had to leave the practice early, and I overheard his mom say, It's because he had to go to the bathroom. So, i personally personally, I feel like Caleb needs to be moved ahead of this kid in the batting order because of his dedication and and staying at practice and not and going home when he has to go potty.

brish: I think there's a big difference between going number one and number two in the bushes though.

dyerneedpod: Ha ha! don't know if he had to go number two. That's a good point.

brish: I'd have to think so.

dyerneedpod: um But yes, so my question to the... to the audience is please let me know if there's been a time where your kid Your kid, maybe niece or nephew, some child that you have to... had to take care of said, I have to go potty and you did not see a bathroom in sight.

dyerneedpod: And we will let you know exactly how you can count ah contact us, get in touch with us. ah later on the podcast. But... Alright. to the meat of what this is, to tackle the question of the day. What are we doing here? What is this?

dyerneedpod: Well, ladies and gentlemen, my friends, simply put. This is just another podcast idea that I had. I've kind of struggled with starting this project specifically and kind of defining what this podcast was going to be.

dyerneedpod: Simply just because I really didn't have an ah kind of an idea of like what one thing I wanted it to be on or what niche that I wanted to cover. and ah But honestly, I don't think that I need to. I don't think that this needs to be about one specific thing. It's really just going to be a place.

dyerneedpod: for hanging out. and having conversations about things that I'm interested in, things that I'm trying, things that I'm going through, things that I'm figuring out, and people that I enjoy talking to. to. That's going to be quite simply what it is. We're going to have fun episodes.

dyerneedpod: We're going to have maybe more serious episodes. Sometimes it's just going to be producer Christian. And I sitting here talking about something going on in my life. Sometimes I'll have people on again. Sometimes we'll be talking sports playing games Sometimes the it does it might get serious. But then also sometimes it might be incredibly stupid and incredibly dumb.

dyerneedpod: which those are probably going to be the best moments. But that's kind of the point. This is going to be a show about the stuff. that I want to talk about and things that I care about in real. life.

dyerneedpod: How does that sound, Christian?

brish: I think it sounds like... A rollercoaster.

dyerneedpod: I love that. um But dude, also, this is going to be a way for me to put out consistent content to the listeners every single week. This show has has flexibility. I don't have to rely on schedules of other people.

dyerneedpod: I loved doing podcasts in the past. Specifically, the Codfather podcast was the best. I loved it week in and week out. But life just gets busy. Life just gets hard. you know all All the guys, everybody has kids. Everybody has jobs. Everybody has lives.

dyerneedpod: This allows me to... potentially have a I'll talk about this maybe in a second, but potentially have episodes where we bring some of those guys back. right and we have those guys but that doesn't mean that they have to be on every single week.

dyerneedpod: um We will be bringing back some of the favorite guests and the new guests will be joining the show as well. I have a lot of ideas of how we can all just have a ton of fun together. But Christian, I know that you have some questions that you prepared here to ask. ah That will probably help the listeners out some on um what to expect.

brish: Yeah, no, absolutely. I mean, obviously new podcast. Hold. A whole bunch of new stuff, it seems like, on the horizon, which... um I know, obviously, we're super excited about. um Just from a viewership standpoint, obviously this is new.

brish: you know, Why does it look - What does it look like in terms of how often are these episodes being dropped? like You know. When can I look forward to listening to this show?

brish: you know, on my car drives because I love listening to this show all the time.

dyerneedpod: Yeah, great question. It was a great question because I gave you the question. um You can expect episodes once a week at least, and Friday mornings are going to be the consistent drop times. Now, I'm not saying that we might not have a special episode every now and again. That might not be on that Friday morning, but you can at least expect a podcast every Friday morning.

brish: Yeah, I think that you asked a great question Um,

dyerneedpod: but

brish: That's question number two. That I have. texted to me here.

dyerneedpod: so Ha ha!

brish: No, no, these are just general questions. um Is the podcast going to be audio only or is there going to be video? as well.

dyerneedpod: Great question. And this is one thing that I kind of struggled with. um setting this up and For right now, it's going to be audio only. This allows me solely just to focus on the you know

dyerneedpod: the content that I'm going to be putting out there, the the guests that I'm going to be getting involved. It doesn't. you know Video adds another level. of pressure, but another level of setup, right? The background is very important. What you wear. and and Even when you're a guest. like Where am I going to set up?

dyerneedpod: this allows the guests to be wherever wherever they can just have some quiet space and it allows me to record you know just here in my bedroom so um We're gonna just keep it to audio only. I'm not saying that that's what it's gonna stay at forever.

dyerneedpod: Of course, I have dreams. Of course, I have aspirations. I'd love to get a video going at some point, but we're going to start ah audio for the for the beginning of this journey.

brish: Yeah, that sounds good too, especially because I'd have to probably beef up the... the wardrobe Um,

dyerneedpod: Mm. You have been doing that a little bit, though.

brish: I have.

dyerneedpod: Banana banana Republic served you well.

brish: It's done! It's done pretty nice. you know i

dyerneedpod: Shout out.

brish: You know, I finally got around to buying those Those jeans when we moved here. And then... Um, Fur. For context, I haven't owned a pair of jeans since the second grade.

brish: Uhm? Until we moved out here to to Texas. And... Um... I got boots when we moved here. and got the jeans, and then now I actually got jeans to just wear around, so.

brish: um Huge upgrades. Um, In the wardrobe department, but... We can dive more into my lack thereof. fashion in another episode. Maybe that's ah that's a topic we we talk about.

dyerneedpod: I love it

brish: Um... All right, yeah, let's ask a third question here. Obviously, I know that... you talked about. highs High episodes, low episodes, serious episodes, funny, games. What kind of different episodes?

brish: Are we kind of looking at?

dyerneedpod: Yeah, so I have three ideas. I have simply what's going to be called just a hangout episode. That's going to be me and producer Christian here just hanging out, talking about.

dyerneedpod: Random stuff that went on in the previous week. I'll probably have some sort of story or big idea kind of to to talk about um And and then we'll we'll just chit chat and and hang out um talk about Christian's fashion sense.

dyerneedpod: And then we're going to have episodes where we have guests.

brish: Mm -hmm.

dyerneedpod: That's going to be where I'm going to try to... honestly have majority of the episodes ah fall under, and I have some ideas. We'll be...

dyerneedpod: Bringing back Quality from the Spot, which is my soccer podcast with Walker. Maybe doing that every now and again. maybe not like That's not going to be a weekly thing, but maybe we'll make that ah you know once a month, once every couple months. We'll check in on the soccer world. um And then there's also the idea for the Codfathers reunion. I haven't even talked to the guys yet about it, but I know that they would be down to get a Codfathers reunion. maybe having

dyerneedpod: A couple of those. I don't know. the The guys loved it. And I know it was very popular with some of my friends. So maybe having some of those guys come back on the on the podcast.

brish: that

dyerneedpod: and so And then I want to do specials. I want to do special shows. And that's going to be the the one that I have right now in mind. It's going to be what's called Game Night. It's where myself, my girlfriend Hannah.

dyerneedpod: ah My sister Faith and producer Christian, who is Faith's husband.

dyerneedpod: Um, we just play different games. I know we've done drafts in the past. We've done blind rankings, Wavelength. There's a bunch of different games and ideas on TikTok right now that I think would be so fun for us to to play um and just have ah a blast doing that. And then obviously there'll be audience participation, voting on who ah had the best draft, but you know, etc. But um game night is something that I think is going to be a real big hit and I'm really excited for that.

brish: Sounds like we got a lot in store. And... We're going to talk to a whole lot of new people. that we just don't talk get to talk to every day. So it sounds like it's going to be a blast. Speaking of talking to people, getting connected with the listeners.

brish: How can listeners get connected with us?

dyerneedpod: All right. I have set up a Gmail and for ah for the podcast. It's going to be... dire need pod at gmail .com and that's d y e r So direneedpod at gmail .com.

dyerneedpod: And like I said earlier, reach out. Tell us a funny bathroom or lack of a bathroom story, I should say. um But also reach out. Let us know what you want to hear.

dyerneedpod: about have any questions that you might have for us any you know ideas just we always want to be engaged with the the listeners and those listeners will probably be mostly my friends but we want to be engaged with y 'all in this and have y 'all be a part of this and i'm not Not going to promise this, but you know there might be a surprise for the first a listener that sends me ah sends me an email and they might be able to be featured in a future podcast.

dyerneedpod: So, um, they're like, oh my gosh.

brish: I'm writing, I'm saying an email right now.

dyerneedpod: Dude, you're you're a staple now. You ain't going anywhere. Chill, chill, chill.

brish: All right

dyerneedpod: Let's wrap this up. um It feels great to to start this journey. I'm going to be trying some different ideas here. yall I'm going to be trying some things. I would love for ah your feedback.

dyerneedpod: And then I want to thank, first of all, producer Christian for for being here and joining me on this journey. But also thank everyone who listened to this episode, listened to episode one. I'm not quite sure when this episode is going to drop because it does take some time and a little bit of work to get it set up with Spotify and then potentially Apple Podcasts. But just know that the Friday after this episode drops. will be episode two.

dyerneedpod: So. Also lastly, Please follow the pod when it is officially out. Share the podcast. like the podcast, ring the bell on the podcast so you don't miss an episode, and basically just do whatever you need to do with the pod that is out there for you to do with the podcast.

brish: huh

dyerneedpod: Just do it. For me.

brish: It could be that white noise. you know, at the end of the night. that you fall asleep to. you know. Maybe not the first listen through. I hope. I hope you wouldn't fall asleep to that, but you know, just make it, make it part of your regimen.

dyerneedpod: Hey, and if y 'all ask for it, then send me an email. you Say, hey, Chris, sing a little sing a little song at the end. you know We might even get into some music um at the end, some acapella. acapella. Please don't ask for that.

dyerneedpod: Okay. That is episode one of... dire need of a podcast, we will talk to y 'all soon. have a good weekend

brish: Bye everyone.
