Rick and Trav are stranded on Podcast Island. Luckily for this episode, covering Sam Raimi's SEND HELP (2026) starring Rachel McAdams, they are joined by the only one out of the three of them that knows how to spot a poisonous plant or properly double lash a raft, industry professional, new homeowner, and Rick's patient partner: Sarah Shady. Together the 3 of them discuss the enduring power of Blondie, how men underestimate the difficulty of domestic labor, and Dylan O'brien's ass.

Ricky's Living Situation and DIY Challenges

00:00:30
Speaker
And we're back. New homeowners here. Ricky, how's it going, man? Well, I have to admit, I am i am not the homeowner. i'm I'm a tenant in this situation. But my partner, my girlfriend, my ride or die, Sarah, ah last name we'll call it we'll call her sha Shady, Sarah Shady.
00:00:56
Speaker
That's her pseudonym today, who I should have introduced as my current lover. i just realized to keep with the theme. The long list of Rick's lovers on the pod. I love being part of a roster. I think that's fantastic.
00:01:10
Speaker
um We are in her new house. Yeah, heck yeah. How do you feel? i feel great. Has anything broken yet?
00:01:21
Speaker
Oh, yeah. I smashed up the back patio my very first night here because it looked like it was sinking. I thought I would find a sinkhole. I did not. I found dirt. But then I kept smashing and thought I could build a new patio. Today's project was the stove. It was broken. One of the igniters was broken off halfway in, and I decided the best way to handle that was with a hammer. So now it's much more broken. And we're having a great time. Home ownership is awesome.
00:01:48
Speaker
trap This is why this is a great episode, because I am the Bradley on the island and Sarah is the Linda. was about to ask who is more handy because Ricky recently shared with me that he he tried to light a grill that was like backed up to plastic siding and almost lit a house on fire. So I assumed it was a low bar for you to exceed Sarah.
00:02:11
Speaker
Yes, he did melt the siding of the rental property I was staying in in New Jersey. That is what happened. Those are the facts. yes Um, yeah, no, Sarah's definitely has more survival know how. It was funny when we were watching the movie, I I asked them, I was like, hey, ah how do you think you'd fare on an island like this?
00:02:33
Speaker
And Sarah goes, well, it's not a biome that familiar with, so I probably not well. I'm like, the fact that you even said the word biome tells me that you would do just fine.

Recording in the New House

00:02:45
Speaker
So yeah. um But yeah, for this is our first night in the house. This actually this podcast is our first activity in the house. Like actual, we haven't done anything in the house. This is the first thing we are doing together in the house.
00:03:01
Speaker
That's how special this is. Other than like the hour and a half it took you to get Wi-Fi in the home and then set up your podcast recording. We don't even have Wi-Fi. Sarah is not a Wi-Fi person. Sarah, when's the last time you actually had Wi-Fi?

Sarah's Minimalist Lifestyle

00:03:14
Speaker
I don't think I have ever had Wi-Fi. People I have lived with have insisted on getting Wi-Fi. I don't own a TV or a streaming service or Wi-Fi.
00:03:28
Speaker
Wow. Our big movie buff right here. Well, ah this is the Sunday Scaries. This is a podcast about scary movies and our love for cinema in general. I'm Travis Telerik.
00:03:41
Speaker
I'm Ricky Townsend. And I'm Sarah. um And we're going to be talking about movies. Sometimes you don't need Wi-Fi to watch them. We still got DVD players. If you don't have a TV, that could be tough. but um The trick is to date someone who loves movies and just wait until he gets so frustrated, then you get Wi-Fi out of the relationship. That's my pro tip for everybody. Yes.
00:04:07
Speaker
I like it. I

Introduction to 'Send Help' Discussion

00:04:08
Speaker
like it. And in talking about figuring out how to leverage other people in tough situations, today we are ah reviewing and talking about Sam Raimi's 2026 newest film, Send Help, again on the tale of us covering the entirety of the Evil Dead franchise.
00:04:25
Speaker
um I jumped the gun a bit on ah our title card. It felt like good timing for it. But before we dive in to this film, I did have a production note from last week's episode. We covered Possession. yeah i spent nearly two hours talking about the movie. And we failed to mention that there's actually a remake in the works right now. That probably would have been something notable to call to our listeners' attention. But ah there you have it. Parker Finn.
00:04:52
Speaker
Yeah, Parker Finn from Smile fame. i' Really good director. And Margaret Qualley is going to be the female lead. Yes. Or Johnny. Isabella Johnny. Yeah.
00:05:03
Speaker
And ah the reaction that there is an even there is even a remake coming out has been testy at best. I think after seeing the movie, understand why that is a weird movie that is that lives and dies based on it's like um obviously it's a Johnny's performance, which is going to be hard to recapture. But it's also like a lot of dream logic. And it's again, let's overuse the term. It's Lynchian. Like, how do you recapture such a crazily put together movie And it's a Cold War film, right? It's like East versus West Germany, which was so timely. The Cold War is over. Yeah. So, yeah. We just wanted to mention that that actually that's actually happening. Yeah. It's hard to remake a classic. I'm so excited. I'll still go see it.
00:05:47
Speaker
There's been, ah like we were talking about Suspiria. That's a remake that I think has been hailed as a great remake. Like you can still... fine classics. We just did one. Evil Dead. Yeah, with Evil Dead, of course. that's what's What's funny about this discussion is that um Sarah has seen probably like 26 movies in her life, and but yet yet they still listen to our podcast ah because you're a loyal partner and a good person. But i all how is it listening to it when it you haven't seen the movie?
00:06:19
Speaker
Because you don't really like scary movies either. ah this Is this the scariest part? Yeah, yeah. i think I think this is the scariest part.
00:06:30
Speaker
no it's great. i work in production, so listening to other people talk about... my job so passionately and about something that I spend so much of my time creating feels really gratifying. It's really enjoyable listening to people pick apart and analyze all of the really specific choices that get made in the creation of a film and to know that people are out there paying so much close attention to all the hard work that I see the other side of the long days, the production hours, you know, the random bullshit you encounter on set. It's just, it's nice to see the other side, like from a viewer's perspective. So yeah. So you truly mean you like hearing a former CPA now real estate agent be like, if I were to make the movie, here's a few things that do differently. Or do you hear me talk and you're just like, what is this guy going on about?
00:07:26
Speaker
Well, if you're not making the movie for your audience, who are you making it for? Yeah. Wow. Other production workers? they why they Very Very drop knowledge on us here, Sarah. i like it.
00:07:38
Speaker
Well, it's funny. Most people go into the movies because they love movies. Sarah was like, well, ah I'm done being a carpenter. I'm done being a security guard. I guess I'll work in movies. It's a job. They pay on time usually.
00:07:54
Speaker
i I love making movies. I could not care less that it's movies we're making. You're like, what are we making? Whatever. um all right. Well, speaking of this movie, should I give the synopsis? Yeah.
00:08:07
Speaker
Is that where we're at? Let's talk about Send Help. An overworked analyst and her arrogant Nepo baby boss survive a plane crash near

Review of 'Send Help'

00:08:16
Speaker
Thailand and must cooperate to survive on a remote jungle island while their workplace power dynamic collapses around them.
00:08:25
Speaker
um Before we get into the actual movie, this is now Sid Raimi will be our most covered director, I think. This will be our fourth. This fourth film we've talked about.
00:08:36
Speaker
Who else is even close? ah James Wan will be after we cover Insidious 1 because he did the first two conjurings. Yeah, but so he already, Raimi already had the title.
00:08:49
Speaker
We're just now acknowledging that he's our most covered. He's our He's our fourth film that has... Initial thoughts. Did you like send help? 2026 Sam Raimi's film. So we took a hiatus beginning of the year, um, from the pod. And also I took a hiatus from going to the theaters to see movies. And so unfortunately I did not see this one, in the theaters, I did stream it right when I got to streaming.
00:09:15
Speaker
Um, and it was wonderful. Like i I don't need every horror movie to be the best horror film I've ever seen. And I don't think that's what this film was going for. It was just a very solid movie. I i kind of get caught up in like survivor culture.
00:09:32
Speaker
It was really big a few years ago with like, if you remember the show like Naked and Afraid or the more realistic show like a Alone that Netflix still covers, Survivor obviously itself.
00:09:44
Speaker
And i think Raimi did a great job marrying that. to Rachel McAdams as just one of the most like undervalued actresses, I think, in Hollywood right now, to his trademark like cinematography, horror themes, lots of gore.
00:09:59
Speaker
And he packaged it all together in what's a really entertaining movie. So it's ah high up on my list for the year. Where is it on your list? Trav's a big list guy. I think it's number three behind ah Bone Temple and Obsession.
00:10:14
Speaker
Nice. For me right now. That's respectable. Sarah, the 27th movie you've ever seen in your life. ah overall These are just overall thoughts. We'll get into the nitty gritty soon.
00:10:25
Speaker
This is where you just kind of say where you saw it, what you were doing, and what you thought of it. I saw this movie in my melted siding New Jersey rental property. Okay, now. with With Ricky and one of my housemates while we were living out there for a job. I had a great time watching it. It was great to watch it with Ricky and get the sort of more audience movie guy perspective. And then also with my friend who is a production worker like me, um just having a great time absolutely ripping. it was I had a great time. it was a good movie. There was a lot to talk about, good and bad. You're going to hear a lot about ah fa Fade to Blacks, Trav. as okay
00:11:09
Speaker
Absolute thumbs down on a Fade to Black. It's like it's not the 1960s anymore. um I think that this is only a horror movie for men, and I think that this is a power fantasy for women. I think that ah i think that the two you know there's more than two genders, But if you separate it in the most binary way possible, I think that men and women would have very different perspectives of this movie because I was watching it and being like, hell yeah, let's go. i have had this boss. I have thought about these things. So that is my overall thought my overall thought. I would only call this a horror movie if I were a man.
00:11:50
Speaker
i love that. Sarah, can I ask you real quick? Knowing Ricky's personality and his deep love for movies, When you guys saw it for the first time, did he sit quietly and let you guys enjoy the movie or did he have to interject his own commentary throughout?
00:12:06
Speaker
Well, my friend and I were making production observations. That opened the door for me. You guys were the talker. Okay. Okay. Well, the the first thing he said as we were just like ripping on different things, background placement, whatever, he said, um are you going to do that the whole time? Well, i didn't I didn't mean are you going to talk the whole time. I just meant are you going like nitpick every little thing? Because it's not it's a it's a it's not a perfectly well-made movie, but it's fun.
00:12:36
Speaker
I laughed out loud many times. Did either of y'all see Triangle of Sadness? Do you think I have seen Triangle Sadness? Travis, have you seen Triangle of Sadness? No, i have not. 2023, made by Swedish filmmaker.
00:12:51
Speaker
um and And part of the movie, it's not the whole movie, it's like ah it's a movie in three parts. And part of it is where it's a very's very class-based movie. socioeconomically and like they get to the island and one of the maids on this cruise is a cruise ship that like got shipwrecked or something.
00:13:10
Speaker
And in my favorite part of that movie was slowly but surely the maid who who was at the bottom of the totem pole on the cruise ship became top dog, was running the show, had all the nice things because she had the note that she had the wherewithal. um And I thought to myself, I would love to see a movie where it's just that. And that's what this movie is. And I think Rachel McAdams is like so overdue for an Oscar.
00:13:36
Speaker
Can we quickly rattle off our favorite Rachel McAdams films? I'm a huge fan. Like I said earlier, i I completely agree. I think she's overdue for an Oscar. I think she's one of my favorite actresses out there right now.
00:13:48
Speaker
You can do this, Sarah. I know Sarah doesn't have, yeah, a deep wealth of knowledge. But are there other Rachel McAdams films you've seen? And do you like them? And curious to hear. Yes, I have seen Mean Girls at a very formative age, and I love when a hot girl is mean to me. I think that that was a crucial role for her to play in my adolescence. Thank you, Raiden McAdams. Thank you. Yeah,
00:14:17
Speaker
yeah I think it's just this recent, but it's ah Are You There, Goddess Me, Margaret. I i've just thought it was such a phenomenal performance and wonderful movie. i um I love Rachel McAdams in comedy especially or rom-coms. Mean Girls is a pure comedy. I think that's like the pinnacle for me. But have you guys seen Rattling Off a Few Others? Wedding Crashers, Game Night, or The Family Stone? I think all three of films she shines in as well.
00:14:47
Speaker
Those are near top of my list. um The one thing I'll say is that... a I do think that this movie, despite being silly and zany, there's a part in it um and it's not, I didn't list it as one of my highlights. I want to bring it up here.
00:15:03
Speaker
um I think it does beg the question of like how monsters are if monsters are created or born. Right. um And like,
00:15:13
Speaker
We were watching the second time or this third time, I guess, for me, and it's when they're at the campfire um and Rachel or ah Linda.
00:15:23
Speaker
i I felt like. um Bradley, when when he was talking about his own upbringing and how it was similar to to Linda's because ah she didn't have a lot of love from her husband, he was abusive and he's like yeah, my parents were the same way.
00:15:40
Speaker
um For a second, it got me thinking like do I have sympathy for this guy Like, what is it? How did, how did people become shitty? And ah obviously the movie doesn't explore that too deeply or anything, but I did appreciate like a fun little adventure horror to like, at least stoke the fire a bit intellectually about making you think about how do people become who they are and hurt people, hurt people. um But I wanted to ask you guys,
00:16:08
Speaker
Did you guys think he was lying when he said that he had a tough time and that he was abused? Or do you think that kind of tracks be ah with with how he was brought up? I think there's some truth in it. i To your point, i would maybe argue against them not exploring ah who's right, who's wrong, how you create monsters. actually think Raimi did a really good job
00:16:36
Speaker
misleading us from the get-go in that we have an infallible protagonist in Rachel McAdams and a shitty boss and and Dylan O'Brien playing the co-lead, the male lead here.
00:16:49
Speaker
And as we see them on the island, it actually really explores, okay, Dylan O'Brien is a horrible person and in a lot of ways he deserves what's coming to him, but he does have, that's that's why I think I buy into, sure, he probably had some rough spots that made him the way he is.
00:17:04
Speaker
And Raimi takes, I think, the more fun decision instead of just making Rachel McAdams, like the victim who overcomes, or always chooses the right option, right? So despite Dylan O'Brien being abusive and a horrible boss,
00:17:17
Speaker
Ramey could have made a movie where Rachel McAdams still does right by him, but that's not the movie he made. And he lets her get in the dirt as well. And, in you know, when the power dynamic shifts a bit, you know, she she is a fallible protagonist. she I think the audience is rooting for her the entire time, but she also makes some decisions, which you would say, well, this oh this is ethically ah pretty great, straight up evil and intent.
00:17:45
Speaker
But I think it makes the movie more fun and I think it does make you wrestle with a bit of like what is the necessary evil? Are monsters like you said you know born or are they a product of their circumstance?
00:18:02
Speaker
Yeah. Any other overall thoughts? I think those are my thoughts. Those are your thoughts? i ah I'll just say... um the The hardest part of this movie for me to believe is this does like the classic Hollywood. You get a beautiful actress and you try to make her look more humble, less beautiful. And it's really hard to do with Rachel McAdams, like despite her.
00:18:29
Speaker
her workplace personality of Linda Little and eating a stinky tuna fish sandwich, like she's still a babe. And you would say, well and any man who is stranded on an island with her would be be lucky to be in that situation, right?
00:18:43
Speaker
Would be grateful. And that's even before she ends up providing fire. yeah exactly. It's like that part of a in ah Not Another Teen Movie when the when Chris Evans' character is trying to find who who's the who's the homely girl who's going to take who's gonna make the prom queen. And he's like, oh, not her. Janie Briggs? She's got glasses. And she's got a ponytail. Overall, no, not her.
00:19:12
Speaker
Yes, that's exactly so what I'm thinking. Yeah. Yeah. ah I despite it being hard to make Rachel like McAdams not attractive. I do think they did the best they could with making her seem kind of frumpy.
00:19:28
Speaker
Like, yeah, do you agree? Like, yeah, that was something I had written in one of the categories. I don't know if I should save it or not. But I think that costumes was work, putting in a lot of work and the glasses she had on, I noticed they were so incredibly magnified that when, you know, when someone has like real Coke bottle glasses, you can see their like their face extends over the it was like they had that type of magnification on them. And the hair department was putting in some serious work with, if you noticed at the beginning, her hair is very stringy and greasy at the scalp. And then further onto the island, it's very like light and has body and texture. They, there were a lot of departments working hard to try and make her look like everybody else, but that's a, that's a tall order. yeah
00:20:16
Speaker
You wouldn't mind being on island with Rachel McAdams? Yeah. Hey, you know what? I don't know how to build a fire, but I'd be better at building shelter than that guy was. So you would. I could forge better and I could hunt better too Call me up.
00:20:29
Speaker
Trav, how would you fare out there? Um... I'd probably be overconfident and make a series of horrible mistakes pretty early on that would humble me and thinking like, yeah, I got this and then just realize, oh, I'm i'm in deep shit.
00:20:43
Speaker
So, yeah. um I think we we covered themes. Yeah. Again, this is Raimi, right? And we've talked about this in our Evil Dead franchise.
00:20:54
Speaker
The man is not trying to ah make us reevaluate our whole worldview in every movie he puts out. He is trying to entertain. And I think there's a lot of beauty in that. Just saying, hey, I'm going to make a really good movie. Make you laugh.
00:21:09
Speaker
Make you scared. Maybe empower you like you said, Sarah. Give you a good power trip. And he he does that very well. I do think, as I don't know if this would be a theme, but something that I kept seeing just repeated over and over was the very classic male underestimation of how much work domestic labor actually takes. Like the scene where he's like, oh, I've watched you do it a hundred times. How hard can it be?
00:21:33
Speaker
to make food and water and shelter, watching that. It just reminded me of so many conversations I've had in my own life with my friends with partners or spouses, feeling like their partners don't realize how much work is going on behind the scenes to keep a life afloat. And I think that um Bradley really exemplifies that trope, even down to when she asks about, oh, do you cook a lot? And he's like, oh, no Like as if how could you think? And then then class comes in into play. Oh, we order out or we go out to dinner or we ah invite a chef in if we're feeling fancy, like just really showcasing somebody who has no idea how much work goes into meeting his own basic needs because he's outsourced it to other people his whole life. I think that that dynamic was really well highlighted in this movie.
00:22:23
Speaker
It's ah an interesting time for us to see this movie because, Trav, I got a remote job working at a political um production company that does like political ads.
00:22:35
Speaker
And it's it's a grind like it's it's remote, but I'm like on my computer making calls all day.

Balancing Work and Home Life

00:22:42
Speaker
And it happened to be right at the same time that that Sarah was closing on the house.
00:22:48
Speaker
And so I've literally been sitting on my ass, like physically sitting in my ass. Yes, I'm working. But like if you if you take a snapshot of what's happening, Sarah is cooking, painting the new house, moving shit over between the apartment and the new house, closing stuff with the bank,
00:23:05
Speaker
ah Smashing, smashing concrete, fixing a stove. ah And it's not easy to get to this house. It's on top of a hill, a very steep hill.
00:23:17
Speaker
So I don't think I'm a as much of a dick as Bradley or as useless. But I did feel like a Bradley type just as my partner is like running around making shit happen, building shelters.
00:23:31
Speaker
For the listeners, it is 12.30 the next day. Are you or are you not still in the pajamas you put on when you woke up having worked your full work day?
00:23:44
Speaker
Yes. that I love this. is bringing up Bringing up Rick's hygiene has actually been a recurring theme on our podcast over the last year. This is just another full point to add to the list. He's very clean. He's very clean. It's more just โ€“ I too love going to work in my pajamas. That's fantastic. When it's like pajama day.
00:24:08
Speaker
um You are not like Bradley. You are much smarter than him. Thanks. Is my butt nicer than him? Yes. Nice. He's got a nice butt. That's like, that's like. I was going to say, i was going to say Dylan O'Brien is an attractive man. um All right.
00:24:25
Speaker
Should we get into production notes, folks? Yeah. So he he got he he got it was the multiverse of madness. The second Doctor Strange that he directed that Rachel McAdams was part of. And he was like, she should be in a movie with me.
00:24:39
Speaker
Yeah, so she has a smaller role in that. And that's apparently where they forged their connection. And he thought that she's a fantastic actress and again, underutilized.
00:24:51
Speaker
And so it looks like she was his ah first casting choice here to really build the movie around and send help, which is pretty cool. Well, it's's it's also ah a role that Rachel McAdams has never played. Like, she's played, like, the of course, the mean plastic in Mean Girls. She's played a a star of a romantic comedy or just a pure romance movie. She's been, like, a sweet mother. But she's never been, like, the lead of a horror film who's kind of a final girl, but also... like the main threat.
00:25:24
Speaker
I mean, Bradley is the antagonist, but he's never threatening. Like he threatens her, her livelihood because of her, her boss. But like you get to the Island, and all his attempts to thwart her are are pretty silly.
00:25:36
Speaker
Like they don't, they don't work. And so I, I just think it's cool to see her used in that way. Yeah. um Other production notes stuff. This is going to be a Sony film. Did you guys see this? bre By the way, Sarah did some production notes.
00:25:51
Speaker
oh great. Well, do you want to speak to this? so Are you familiar with what I was going to say? I could i could try. i only know like two things. Yeah. Drop some knowledge.
00:26:02
Speaker
um So Sony originally showed interest in 2019, but it was going to be a straight to streaming contract. And Sam Raimi felt really passionate about having the project go to theater. So he rejected that deal and went on a multi-year investigation to find somebody who would give um give them a theatrical deal, which they secured in 2024. So five years between the Sony interest and actually securing a theatrical deal um before starting production in 2025, originally supposed to start in January, but pushed to February in LA and Australia and Thailand. And I can't think of anywhere better to be in the cold winter than those three places. So that would must've been a pretty sweet job to put on.
00:26:51
Speaker
Yeah, I would have loved that. Wait, so Sony gave it up. They let go of the project and then ah Disney came in, 20th Century Fox. Wow. Yeah. And it it was the right call, right? This was the number one ah movie in the country when it was released atop the box office. It $65 million domestically, $94 million worldwide. And this is off...
00:27:13
Speaker
What did it have 20 million dollar budget? Is that correct? Did it not make over a hundred? A 40 million dollar budget. I apologize. No, came in just under a hundred mil. Still really impressive.

Music and Scary Scenes in 'Send Help'

00:27:25
Speaker
Talk about the crew. Danny Elfman, who I was telling Sarah, like, I really love the score and it grew on me over the last couple watches. It's like very it's kind of ah mischievous and mysterious and it's kind of bouncy, but also has like a fantasy element to it.
00:27:44
Speaker
And then for scary moments, it gets very droney and electronic. I just thought it had a lot a lot of good range. um And I hadn't I had i hadn't remembered ah an Elfman score, contemporary one that I was wowed by. So I was happy to see him back.
00:27:59
Speaker
You haven't been wowed by Elfman scores before? No, contemporary. Contemporary. What's a recent Elfman score you can name that you're like, oh, it's so good. Night Before Christmas, any Tim Burton movie. That's what I was going to say. He hasn't done anything noteworthy in a long time, so I was like, nice. Thanks for coming back, Elfman.
00:28:18
Speaker
Took a break from touring with Oingo Boingo to ah get back in it. um Yeah. And then Raimi didn't write this one. It was Damien Shannon and Mark Swift, ah lesser known writers. They've done ah Freddy versus Jason Friday, the 13th, they watch, but ah they, it was great. It was a good screenplay. So kudos to them. I'd say this is their best work to date from what I've seen. The biggest honor that traffic can give somebody is kudos. If you hear Trav giving kudos to somebody that's like, it's equivalent to a podcast Oscar. Yeah, I appreciate it. Dylan O'Brien. Have you guys seen any other Dylan O'Brien movies? I really liked him in this and I haven't really seen anything else he's done. He looked familiar, but I couldn't tell you off the bat what I've seen him in. Yeah, what's he in?
00:29:03
Speaker
um He was in Maze Runner and that entire franchise. He was in the new like SNL movie Saturday Night. He's in one of the Transformers movies, Bumblebee. He was originally like in Teen Wolf. ah the but Was that on MTV? What channel was that? Or WB?
00:29:21
Speaker
Was that what it was on? I thought it was a CW show. CW. Thank you. That's what I was like. Wow. What a pull. Nice, Sarah. Nice. Impressive. Yeah, he was on Teen Wolf a decade ago.
00:29:32
Speaker
Yeah, I liked him. He had a tough, tough role to play here because he can very easily be very um single note, I guess. Just kind of bratty asshole. But he kind of lulls you back into his charm here and there, makes you feel like he's going to do the right thing. And but he's got the little.
00:29:52
Speaker
Oh, that he had evil in his heart. Yeah, absolutely. What was the tell? um You ever just walk into your workplace and see somebody new there and you just know they've got the devil in them and you're going to hate that person every single day for the rest of your job? Trav, I'm going to bleep this name out here. do you remember ****?
00:30:14
Speaker
back at SMU. Yeah, of course. We saw walking out of a unnamed restaurant and, ah and Sarah grabs me in the parking lot. It's like, that guy's got the devil in him. And I'm like, how'd you know he did? That guy was evil. He was a horrible person to all my friends and just the trickster and just like evil. And how did you just do?
00:30:37
Speaker
I think sometimes you look at somebody and when they look back at you, they have reptile eyes and you know that person only sees you as a column on a spreadsheet at best. Oh, at best. And I think that um Dylan O'Brien did a great job of bringing that...
00:30:56
Speaker
calculating but like smarmy like smiley like i just feel like i in in an interaction if i feel like i'm being handled nothing is more of a situational turnoff and i feel like he did a great job especially during that initial meeting with linda yes of conveying the fake nice, you're being handled thing that I just feel like everybody, you know anybody has experienced that in their life and can pinpoint it immediately. Like, oh, I'm...
00:31:30
Speaker
I'm being had right now. He did a great job with that. Yeah, when he's like, you're upset about not getting promoted. i'm and trying to be empathetic. But it's a play. It's a play. Oh my God, I would beat his ass if I met him in the street. Come on. That's the type of guy I'd see in a bar and be like, oh, okay, you think you're a big man, huh? like That type of person makes me insane. Cannot cannot stand them. This is why everybody recommended Sarah to watch this movie, I think. That's too funny.
00:31:58
Speaker
um other Other cast members, Adil Ismail plays Zuri. That's ah Bradley's fiance. ah x Xavier Samuel plays like the over-the-top douchebag frat guy Donovan. Donovan. Oh, Donovan. Did make it?
00:32:16
Speaker
Uh, that one going back to your point, he's, he's very much a caricature of like an asshole where I did like Dylan O'Brien's portrayal of Bradley a bit more, where he's a bit more conniving, right? Like still trying to show as if he's putting up a front, like he's the CEO and trying to be empathetic, but really just an evil heart at the core. I have to give a shout out. he was fourth build, even though he has very little screen time. But ah if you guys ever watch the TV show 24, President David Palmer, which is Dennis Haysbert, plays one of the nicer co-workers to Linda.
00:32:52
Speaker
Also known from his Allstate commercials, of course. You're in good hands. yeah but did I did recognize that guy. That is one of the only actors I recognize. There's that guy. Yeah. um I like he was fourth built. like what i I think he had maybe a minute of screen time in this film. so I feel like anybody but those two about a minute of screen time. Yeah. much of two-hander.
00:33:17
Speaker
Yeah. That's it for cast. So we can get to our categories and ah maybe start with our scurometer. All right, Sarah, do you know how we do the scurometer?
00:33:28
Speaker
I do. I do want to, before we say this, until I saw this movie, the scariest movie I'd ever seen in my life was Annihilation because I'm very scared of ghosts and the dark and aliens and psychics and kidnapping, basically blood, anything in a horror movie, very scary to me. So I do not watch a lot of them.
00:33:47
Speaker
So you're saying we should grade on a curve here? Yeah, yeah. so tra we Just knock like two to three points off whatever I should say. Or we should just have our scores be a little lower and get ready for your high score is what you're saying.
00:34:00
Speaker
All right. All right. Three, two, one. Seven. Oh, no. Seven? don't know. like, the scariest part of this movie was Zuri coming out of the water because I'm like, what if the next time I'm alone on the beach, a dead girl comes out of the sea? That you killed?
00:34:24
Speaker
Well, hopefully not, but you never know. ah
00:34:29
Speaker
Yeah, this was scary for you, babe. I understand. I think also, yeah, just being like tricked and manipulated and drugged by a man. Pretty scary. Happens in real life all the time. Very fair.
00:34:41
Speaker
Very fair. three, two and a seven gives us an average, average scarometer of four. How do you feel about that, Rick? All right. Our fours are. Scarier than 28 weeks later 28 years later.
00:34:55
Speaker
Oh, yeah, you're right. because Because the 28 weeks later and 28 years later, Trick or Treat's a 4, Evil Dead is 4.5. um Those all sound like 10s to me.
00:35:07
Speaker
We might have to do some post-production tinkering with this, but for now, we'll respect the process and put it right under underneath Trick or Treat to be our 27th scariest movie that we've ever covered.
00:35:20
Speaker
Do I remember as a longtime listener of the Sunday Scaries, wasn't there one movie, perhaps The Nightmare Before Christmas, that was like extremely highly rated? 64? Yeah. Yeah, 65, I think. but Yeah, yeah, definitely. That is the scariest still to date by a long shot.
00:35:39
Speaker
I agree, scariest film ever. I love knowing that and a child have the same sense of what is a scary movie. since it sounds like you've seen that. I have seen that. Just heads-up display.
00:35:50
Speaker
Which film do you find scarier? Nightmare Before Christmas or Send Help? Oh, ah clarifying question. As if I have seen them both for the first time now or remembering how I felt watching it when I was like probably too young to be watching it.
00:36:08
Speaker
That's tough. We've never done that clarifier. So I'll let you be able to decide how you want to want to create them. Oh, yeah. Okay. Nightmare Before Christmas, for sure. I dreamt about the Boogeyman for a very long time. Boogie Boogie is very scary. He's made of And it's Tim Burton's like Claymations. Again, it's Tim Burton produced. I didn't remember. it's He did not direct that film. Henry Selick. Everybody forgets. Everyone forgets Henry Selick. But it is it is legitimately...
00:36:38
Speaker
unsettling film. It's funny. It's cute. The soundtrack's great. But I also agree that I i still think even as an adult, I find that movie scarier than Send Help. Do you know that somebody in my life, babe, that you know very well has a boogeyman fetish?
00:36:54
Speaker
I love knowing that. that You do know it. I told you. I do. And every time I think about it, it's so it's just incredible. Is it is it you? right No. It's not me. i wish i could I wish it was. I wish I could muster that up. That'd be awesome. that's some Yeah, that's some really deep psychosexual. Every time I see that movie advertised anywhere, i I think of that person in my life because they are serious about it.
00:37:19
Speaker
I love that. I hope they involve costumes at home.
00:37:24
Speaker
All right. So a solid four um for now. For now. um All right. Highlights. um So the first time I watched this was but with my buddy, Joe Cooper, and I came over to his place late and I got there during the plane crash, um which is one of my highlights, but I'll let the shirts. I'm sure it's somebody else's. So I'll let you guys talk about the plane crash.
00:37:49
Speaker
But in upon a rewatch, I I love the pre plane crash office shenanigans that happens to Rachel McAdams. ah It really sets her up as somebody who seems like they are very smart and capable, but like not well respected and doesn't make the right social cue like doesn't ah pick up on the right social cues.
00:38:16
Speaker
but it's seemingly really nice. And like, it's such a great ah foil or like a comparison point to the rest of the movie of just how bad ass she is and like where she was hiding all these skills. And it it changed the movie viewing experience for me for having not seen the beginning. and i So I just really liked the beginning. Like I love, I love the cringy tuna fish part. I love the coworkers talking about karaoke and she's like, yeah, I can't wait. and they're like, okay.
00:38:46
Speaker
I love her confrontation with Dylan or Bradley. And the movie could have been a lot more ham-fisted with her meekness, but they never make her like unrealistically meek. Like she does stick up for herself and she does give like clapbacks to this guy ah more and more as the movie goes on, obviously, but it's not cartoonish. it's like a very realistic look at somebody who like knows that they should be treated better, but are trying to figure out how to do it. And so that was one my highlights was just like the, the table setting of her character and Dylan's character, obviously.
00:39:20
Speaker
I love it. and And you named mine, which was the plane crash, directly following that. i mean, it's just a fun action sequence. It could have easily been done with you see the plane goes down and then cut to or fade to black, as Sarah loves. And then she's waking up on the island. And instead, you get a few minutes of just intense and comical action as they are trying to stay on the aircraft as it is going down and literally getting ripped apart.
00:39:52
Speaker
And so, you know, i have a few other categories maybe to address some of that or sorry, awards to address some of that. But it was. It sets the tone right as you're shifting to what the the second act of the film of them first getting onto the island of just that intense action sequence. after After seeing this movie, Trav, before you get on a plane, do you now say cocks up?
00:40:17
Speaker
and but Maybe now I will. ah That scene also has a, I love the sound design at and a really crucial part, which I'm sure we'll talk about when we talk about deaths and stuff. Everything goes silent and you don't hear anything as she focuses on her objective of getting a fork.
00:40:37
Speaker
And I really like that. And I also like afterwards when he, when Bradley cries and he's like, Anybody make it? And she's like, no. And he goes, Dono. Dono. Eyes for Dono. Don't we all? That's boy, man. That's his boy. Yeah. What was your highlight, babe? um I loved the the, not to get technical with it, I loved the background in the office. There were two moments that really stuck out to me. One for visual reasons and one for storytelling reasons. And the first one was there's ah an overhead shot of the office and there are people going up an escalator. Both escalators in parallel are going up and then three lines of people on the ground floor all walking out. And it creates this very mechanical, um usually
00:41:30
Speaker
in my like to set backgrounds so perfect and specifically like that is a choice that doesn't get made very often because it's so stylized. Oftentimes you want the background to look how people look in real life and nobody moves like that in real life. um So I thought that that was a really interesting choice that was very styized very stylized, very like intense and set this sort of robotic office culture in a visual way. So I thought that was like that was one aspect of the background work that I thought was really good. And then in the office, there was a scene, the scene where she steps into the aisle and stops Bradley.
00:42:10
Speaker
I noticed at my first watch um during that scene, i i don't know if it was all, i because some people were deep and out of focus, but all of the men looked to be standing and all of the women were sitting. And I just thought that did such a great job of explaining without saying the power dynamic we are going to see unfold for the rest of this office work. um So I think, that yeah, the background of that of those initial scenes was really a highlight for me. That's a big part of my job is working with the background. And then they all went away on the island, so I had to look for other things. um But another another scene that was another moment that was a highlight.
00:42:51
Speaker
was her crying in her car. And I remember, I've seen this movie now twice, um and the first time I watched it, she's talking to herself in the mirror like, you got this. And I just remember saying to Ricky and my friend, like,
00:43:07
Speaker
Where's her mom? Like it was such an emotional scene that she was having to go through this alone, just herself. Like when I've been in that position, I'm calling like people in my life, I'm calling my mom or my grandma or my partner, you like. So just that that scene and that that raw emotion that she was giving really conveyed how alone she is in her life that she can't call someone for reassurance. It's just her in the mirror. So I thought that was a real performance highlight for her.
00:43:39
Speaker
Very much built the profile of of Linda Little as a lonely person. I agree. Especially talking to her parrot too. so Sweetie. Yes. Didn't you have parakeets?
00:43:51
Speaker
Sweetie is a cockatiel. Oh, I'm sorry. And did have cockatiels. Yes, I did. I had two of them. What is like sad pet rankings? Because I feel like dogs are happy pets would be the opposite side of the spectrum. But I think you have like fish, bird and cat all vying for like, that's kind of a sad. That's how Hollywood at least portrays lonely people is they have to have one of those three animals.
00:44:16
Speaker
um Any type of reptile, why would you want a pet that can't love you back? You just were telling me the other day how badly you want to get a ball python. Yeah, they're cool as hell, but I have a dog, so it counteracts it. You can have one psycho pet, a reptile, as long as you also have one mammal or a bird, I suppose, It cancel other If you have a mammal in your house, you can have one cold-blooded creature, but once that ratio gets skewed, you're in psycho territory. These are good pet rules.
00:44:44
Speaker
I think that's funny that the vast majority of the film is set on the island and we're all like, yeah, the first act moment in the office. The castration scene, huge highlight. Have you never fantasized about castrating a Nepo baby? Come on. now have. Yeah, awesome. It is both one of my favorite parts of the movie. It is also where the movie could have taken a turn and been something completely different. And I wonder if it would have been better. It could have gotten insanely sadistic. It could have been torture porn type of movie. It could have been hostile on an island. She could have had a descent to madness. And they could have pushed the extreme revenge. It could have been like a revenge, gruesome thriller. But they elected to retain their humanity and
00:45:36
Speaker
I think that that has it has to be that way since it's Rachel McAdams and i ah the movie probably falters without it. But then it again, it undercuts her decisions that she makes later. You know what i mean?
00:45:48
Speaker
um and so I struggle with with the decision there because I so badly wanted him to get castrated and I think he deserved it. And so when she didn't and she's like, next time it won't be the rat because she was killing a rat in front of him instead of a dick.
00:46:02
Speaker
And I was like, he's already at it next time. you know So it's an interesting scene because it is the thesis of the movie. She talks about the working dynamics. She talks about what he deserves and um that she's better than him in this way because she's not like him.
00:46:17
Speaker
um But part of me did want to see it take a left turn and and get a little darker. Yeah. You know what I mean? yeah because they're yeah They're both imperfect people, but it's the one instance where she takes...
00:46:28
Speaker
the moral high ground and not actually castrating them, which maybe gives us more of the audience, more sympathy towards her and invalidates where we're okay with her killing him at the end. Right. Because she, she was not a sadistic fuck.
00:46:43
Speaker
Yeah. She, but is it complicated though? Because she does again, spoiler alert, she does kill two innocent people. So she doesn't torture somebody spoilers down. We're, we're a new one. don't know.
00:46:54
Speaker
was that Was castration post-murder? Like, hadn't she already killed them or had she not killed them yet? No, she she did this after he tried to flee on a raft. Yeah, yeah, that's right. And then she poisons them with a really nice dinner, right?
00:47:08
Speaker
Right. We'll talk about that. Sarah has thoughts about the blue-rimmed octopus. Yeah, so let's move on to ah our deaths then. and We're on jump scare awards.
00:47:21
Speaker
yeah Yeah, you're right. What am I talking about? Let's move on to our ah best job. Do you like have a template when you do this? Nope. I just do it. Raw dog. I'm raw dogging it. It's not in front of me.
00:47:34
Speaker
I'm trying get from memory. Ben Gardner Jump Scare Award. um I went first last time. Maybe you want to you want to lead the charge this time? Sure. i think much like the namesake, the best jump scare was underwater when that flight attendant smashed right into the screen.
00:47:50
Speaker
It was very reminiscent because it was Ben Gardner in Jaws, right? He's diving. the namesake of the award. Right. And he appears right the- You're right. a hole in the boat i was like another underwater surprise delightful i saw jaws very recently for the first time yeah flight attendant in the window got me that yeah that got me that is that's probably number one yeah yeah the only other one i had was the cgi boar scare but he was very cgi where it almost diminished it a bit cgi boar can't hurt you yeah
00:48:22
Speaker
um the i say I think a I think all of us agree.

Gross Moments and Cameos

00:48:26
Speaker
Stewardess Carcass was the winner, but falling off the cliff got me. Each time I watch this, each time Rachel McAdams slips and falls off that cliff when they're taking a tour, I i don't see it. I mean, I know it's coming, but I get spooked. I get little spooked.
00:48:43
Speaker
Sorry, calling me spooked. All right, Cantaloupe Award. There is this movie for just kind of being a fun kind of above average movie horror flick had more cantaloupe cringy gross moments than most movies that we've got on this pod.
00:49:03
Speaker
It's Ramey. Ramey likes to mix it up, get a little gory. I think the one it depends on how I'm feeling at the time. Dude, eating the bug was tough.
00:49:14
Speaker
Eating the bug. i I just it was close up. You could see everything. Those legs are there. that's it's The thorax was quite ah quite bulbous.
00:49:25
Speaker
What I read was it is a um it was a... um a gelatin structure with a chocolate shell around the outside. And then on the inside, it was full of pistachio, like chocolate, you like Dubai chocolate, but for that green yeah color. And then so it gave the sense of crunching into it and then like squelching out and all of that, but using all edible materials. The one thing i was noticing was I thought the legs looked to be moving when he was putting it in his mouth. I don't know if that was added um VFX or how that was done, but I was really curious about the bug because it was so gross. And turns out it was basically a Dubai chocolate made by... A nice little chocolate. Yeah, I think the props department would have been the one to do that. Yeah. Honestly, um what you described sounds delicious. Like I wouldn't. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Should we make some send help nasty bug chocolates? ah Yeah. That was my. I'm glad you brought that one up because it is one of the few times I think this movie is hurt by its overreliance on CGI.
00:50:32
Speaker
um It's unfortunate. I think Sam. It's really just the bore for me. It's the bore. It's the plane sequence. It's the when they climb when they're up top on the mountains or in the and the up on the ridge. It's just it's weird because he was such a practical, heavy filmmaker when he was young and he was so resourceful and scrappy. I wonder if he's just like, you know, I'm a little older.
00:50:56
Speaker
i don't. There's an easy way to do this. And it's it doesn't lend itself too much to the story. But I just think we see time and time again, Travis, like one of the most ah repeated things that we say that we just love the practical effects. But the bug was it stood out to me because it was clearly he was eating something gross.
00:51:16
Speaker
But now I kind of want to eat it. Yeah. Dubai chocolate. Yeah. Buggy. yu Have you eaten bugs before? I've eaten a small green one they said, OK, and you could use like a green.
00:51:30
Speaker
It's a green bummed ant, I think. And it tasted fine. And then I had escargot.
00:51:38
Speaker
that's it. Is escargot a bug? Or a mollusk? It's a snail. You're right. I guess, but are snails bugs? Snails are mollusks. Okay, so Sarah is like ah encyclopedic knowledge of Yeah.
00:51:54
Speaker
Animals and and animalia. so Well, I am fatally allergic to mollusks. Oh, yeah, you are. That's where that one comes. Do you need escargot? Escargot, no, thank you. There you go.
00:52:07
Speaker
Okay, okay. i've had ah I've been down in ah Thailand with Anna. I went to the market in Phuket, and I bought a whole bag of fried like grasshoppers.
00:52:18
Speaker
And honestly, they're pretty good. Now these have been cooked. um And when you fry something, it takes a lot of the natural flavor out. So really you're just enjoying what it was fried in. Did it remove the hops?
00:52:30
Speaker
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. All right. So mine's the bug. what is What are y'all's? Oh, puke CPR. Yep. Unwatchable.
00:52:42
Speaker
I'm a sympathetic puker. It was so visceral. It was really just, it was like you were there. That was gross. I love the whole setup for that scene though. Like he has just tried to flee and escape and he's poisoned her, but she still has the wherewithal to essentially save his life and perform CPR and then vomit directly all over him and into his mouth. It's the Raimi special. You can't. It's one of my deep cuts. You can't have a Raimi movie.
00:53:10
Speaker
I mean, you can. They're occasionally there, like for the love of the game and ah the Spider-Man trilogy. Yeah, I don't remember. There's a lot of vomiting in people's faces, but it happens in every evil dead. It happens in ah Drag Me to Hell. It happens here.
00:53:26
Speaker
ah and it happens twice, actually. You have the boar. snotting slash vomiting on the on Rachel's face. And then in this one, you have, again, Rachel vomiting on... Yeah, that that was ah that was a big cantaloupe award. um Honorable mention, though, for the tuna scene. That is, from a socially awkward, ah cringe-inducing moment, I think that has to be up there, too.
00:53:51
Speaker
Yeah, that was tough. Oh, yeah. I mean... She doesn't know it's there. She's trying to make jokes. He's like, what's that? Come again? And it's like, I felt i felt for her.
00:54:06
Speaker
Did you not? Were you just like? no I mean, I see people with food in their teeth all the time or food on their lips. Do you tell them? Yeah, I'll usually tell them. I'll usually be more direct. It's just not cringey to me, right?
00:54:20
Speaker
do We all eat food. We don't all vomit in other people's mouths, so. i have I have found the nicest way to tell somebody there's a booger in their nose. You just say there's a bat in the cave. and yeah It's very casual.
00:54:32
Speaker
Then you move on with your day. Hell yeah. um All right. Yeah. i I think what takes the cake, though, i'm with you, Sarah, is yeah is CPR vomit directly your brother's mouth.
00:54:44
Speaker
All right, deep cuts. So Dylan O'Brien plays the character of Bradley Preston. This is the son of this big you know corporate conglomerate that ah he is now taking the reins of for his father, who has passed away. And his father seems to have been the you know ah a titan of industry, but also more fair to Linda, to Rachel McAdams' character.
00:55:06
Speaker
But do you know, again, we don't see the actor who plays his father, but you do see some media around the office and see pictures in there. Yeah. You guys go ahead. I did not figure this out. Oh, okay. You didn't see his picture when you were watching it? Neither? And you saw twice and you didn't see this? I saw it three times. Oh, okay. Wow.
00:55:25
Speaker
Mr. Preston is ah photographed and you can see him in his office is Bruce Campbell. which is ah awesome to always see Ramey and Campbell back together, showing him looking very corporate, um adorned in the office of ah Bradley's office.
00:55:40
Speaker
That's good. I like that. I like that that happened. Um, I noticed that there was some Jack Link's beef jerky on Rachel McAdams desk. So not just tuna sandwich, but she's a hickory smoked Jack Link's. Have I told you about the Link brothers? I'm very familiar.
00:55:57
Speaker
No. Tell us, Travis. So my mom's family is from Minong, Wisconsin. Very small town, northwestern Wisconsin. But... It is very well known and on the map because that is where the Link brothers are from. And so everything in Minong, Wisconsin is named like Link's grocery store and Link's gas station and Link's Everything. So we, um oh man, I think this was actually when my grandfather passed, who knew the Link Brothers, because my grandfather sold farm equipment up in Mainong.
00:56:26
Speaker
And so the whole family's up in Mainong, but there's, if you can imagine, this is a very small town, like town of 500 people. So there's not hotel accommodations and we can't all stay at his house. So my family reaches out to the Link Brothers because they own a lot of the town. They're like, do you have anywhere that could house, you know, like 20 plus people? And they say, well, yeah, we have a hunting lodge kind of out in the sticks, which is most of this area.
00:56:49
Speaker
um There's bunks there, feel free. Like it hadn't been maintained in a while. And so we're going to shake out the bedding night one. And my brother-in-law, Dan, shakes out like the ah blanket folded up on his bed.
00:57:02
Speaker
And about six dead mice babies go flying out of his blanket. Oh, my God. Oh, tough. Were they dead when you shook them out or were they dead when they... I think they were already dead. think they were already dead. That's where they were living. I'm switching to Alberto for old settlers. I can't do Jack Link's anymore. It was very nice Link brothers. Didn't ask for any money. They volunteered the space. Yeah, well, they shouldn't have. There was fucking dead mice in the sleeping bags.
00:57:29
Speaker
What the hell? The fucking Link brothers. Yeah, so there's Link's... Yeah, there's Link's... link Jack Link beef jerky in the film. um No free ads.
00:57:41
Speaker
ah Yeah. Rami's signatures vomit situations. We talked about Rami's close ups, his zooms, his ah extreme close ups. You saw that with the tuna on her face, on his hand, on Dennis Haysbert's nose, sniffing the tuna, which was very funny.
00:58:00
Speaker
um I loved the pig vision. Anytime we got a POV of the boar running towards Linda, ah it was kind of vignetted and a little chaotic looking, little blurred on the sides. I liked the i like the pig vision.
00:58:16
Speaker
And at one point, Linda says that its she found conch. I found a conch. I found a conch. And she goes, lot of people say it's conch, but it's not. It's conch.
00:58:26
Speaker
Have you heard this? is this Is this news to you that it's not a conch shell? A conch shell? It's a conch shell? I had always heard it called a conch shell. Is it because we just say it with the word shell a lot? Like conch shell? So then you just go conch?
00:58:39
Speaker
Is that why? i don't know. i think I think that's probably why. I believe you. I grew up yeah in a landlocked state. You could be telling me the truth. Maybe we were at the lake the other day in A.T. landlocked.
00:58:51
Speaker
Well, there's no ocean because it's blocked by the state of New Jersey. Fuck New Jersey. really like New Jersey. Tom's River is awesome. Yeah, Tom's River We're going to live there one day. Well, um those are my deep cuts. Any bells have any more deep cuts?
00:59:06
Speaker
I read this one online while I was looking up stuff for this. Linda's necklace in the office is um it's a chain with a couple of beads and a silver circle. And People were saying it's a direct callback to Linda in Evil Dead 1981 having a necklace that had, um it looked like maybe a magnifying glass. I haven't seen that movie. um But when it lands in the shape of the skull and the whole thing. So people were comparing those two things and saying, you know I couldn't find anybody from the crew saying this, but saying that it was a very intentional self-referential choice to include this um the kind of marketing or...
00:59:52
Speaker
That's a great point. We'd even mention that she shares the same first name as Linda from the Evil Dead movies. Yeah. So what's Sam Raimi's mother's name? Is it Linda? Yeah. Well, Linda has a very tough fate in the Evil Dead movies, babe. yeah It is the girlfriend of Ash who a different character plays her in each movie and she dies in each movie because they keep retelling the first part of the movie. Right. I remember hearing about this. This is our fourth this is our fourth Linda. and Yeah, shes she survived. This one survived. Finally.
01:00:25
Speaker
um now we can talk about deaths yes death time baby travel father yeah your kid i mean is he too much of a main character to give it to dono because i love that fight well i had him i had hit him as my other death award oh okay i thought that's the best that's fair he was yeah he's he's on the cusp of maybe being too primary of a character so then then who can we give it to who's minor enough is it the boat captain Yes, it is the guide, the only Thai person in this whole movie, and he doesn't even get a name. All he does is die.
01:01:03
Speaker
Unbelievable. Isn't he just boat captain? Yeah, boat captain is his credit. That's tough. That's tough. I think, pour one out for boat captain. I do think that was desperate death for death's sake.
01:01:16
Speaker
Oh my God. Anyone want to pronounce his name? His real name? Look, we we created jobs for the people of Thailand, but we did not create respect. Oh, wow. There are so many layers to this. I'm just saying.
01:01:29
Speaker
It just also sucks that the only two people that also showed up on the island were people of color, and they both died. That's true. Just saying. Yeah, agree, agree. Flight attendant, too.
01:01:40
Speaker
Yeah, you're right. Well, there's there's also another fraternity brother in there, right? Chris Pang. Oh, yeah. That guy's a dick. He was a dick. Maybe he deserved it. um Yeah, the guide was mine because of that reason. It's like he's deserves it zero like he did nothing. Not not that zero deserves either, but she's by proxy dating an evil person. So sometimes you're near a grenade. What's going to happen? ah But he's just trying to help.
01:02:09
Speaker
And he just gets takes a rock to the dome. Yeah. Yeah. They sent help and look how that went. It's tough. All right. peter got captain I'm on board for that for cannon Potter.
01:02:22
Speaker
So then Donna's our best death award winner. Oh yeah. I thought so. Oh, I said the boar. Oh, you turned away. didn't even watch it. Cause it was so gnarly. a the boar was good.
01:02:38
Speaker
du Donna's death was so satisfying because that guy was such a douchebag. Give me your seat. yeah Yeah. What the fuck? Why would she give a seat? Choked out by a tie. What a metaphor. Yeah, right. Uh,
01:02:53
Speaker
He's trying, the the plane is going down. it's ah half of it's open, so he's getting sucked out. He's holding onto the chair. This is where, yeah, he's like, he's kicking off his friend.
01:03:06
Speaker
ah kicking him in the teeth? Yeah, yeah kicks his teeth out. Oh, And then um is asking Rachel McAdams to give him her chair as if he'd he did. First of all, he's already taken her chair in the office. He got promoted, took her chair. Damn. and and she's like, what?
01:03:24
Speaker
She even realizes, like, this is fucking stupid. The sound goes out. It gets all focused. She takes a fork. Wham! Where'd she get him in the hand? I couldn't watch. And then he flies out of the plane and then he's bumping his head against the glass and then she just slowly puts the little window cover down. Yes, that's the best part is the lingering like he's still out there and she's like, nope, goodbye. Bye-bye.
01:03:47
Speaker
Yeah. Okay, I'm on board. he He needed to get one of the two awards so I'll just give him straight up best death. I think you're right. He was too central to call him cannon father. And then the remorse for Donno.
01:04:00
Speaker
Donno! Donno! ah Okay. um Do we have a Shyamalan twist in this film? I think there's only one. Was it a twist that, like, yeah, she had been to the other side of the island and there's really a mansion there?
01:04:18
Speaker
I feel like an idiot because... The whole time I was watching this with Joe, he was like, that there's something weird about that knife.

Twist and Humor in 'Send Help'

01:04:25
Speaker
I'm like, yeah, just it just washed up on shore, man. She said it. He's like, yeah, because just because she said it doesn't mean that's how it happened. And I was like, well, I don't know. He's like, I bet there's a house over there. I'm like, no way. Oh, wow. It was twist for me.
01:04:40
Speaker
i I felt like there was something back there. i thought it was just like you could see boats and stuff from the other side of the island. So that's why she wanted keep away. I didn't know there was over areina whole luxury mansion back there.
01:04:53
Speaker
i would like to know the percentage of how often she was actually cooking and how often she was taking from that house. Like... I want to be impressed by her abilities to survive. Does it diminish your empowerment knowing that it wasn't completely natural by her own means that she had performance enhancing household items helping her? P-E-H-I?
01:05:19
Speaker
I think you can, if you're in that situation, you take what you can get. Okay. okay That's fair. You got to survive. um All right. What else we got? The don't go in there award.
01:05:31
Speaker
Babe, you have one for this. Yes. Why would you put that rickety ass boat in the ocean at night? You can't even see. yeah I mean, i'm sure because that's the opportunity he had to try and incapacitate her and poison her. But as he was pushing the raft into the ocean, I was like,
01:05:46
Speaker
Where are you going to go what's your in the like eight hours between now and sunrise? Like, do you know celestial navigation? Like you don't know how to make a fire, dude. I don't think you can, you're not relying on the stars here. he had coconuts and he had a raft. I feel like he's someone who had watched the film Castaway and saw Tom Hanks escape on a raft. And he's just like, I'm i'm doing a Castaway.
01:06:12
Speaker
yeah Yeah, I know how to build a raft. I've seen it in a movie once. It looks easy. How hard could it be? yeah that was the dumbest decision in the movie. I know.
01:06:24
Speaker
All right, best lines. lines I didn't notice this until my third time watching it. I love it when Linda Little is stomping through the office to go confront Bradley.
01:06:37
Speaker
And it's her POV as we're going towards the office. And this, like... I guess older woman pops out the left of frame and goes, Linda, what the heck?
01:06:47
Speaker
It's like pops back out. Like that's the only thing she says. And that's it. i was just like, she's a SAG day player. She made a thousand dollars that day they say, Linda, what the heck? Linda. Hey, that's 500. That's a 250 bucks. A word word. Shit. I'm in the wrong business. need both brother.
01:07:06
Speaker
My favorite was when she said, we're not in the office anymore, Bradley. Yeah. yeah Turn you on a little bit. going do? What are you going to do? She had a good, like, fuck you, Bradley. Yeah.
01:07:20
Speaker
so um I liked it after when she's getting on the plane. ah She's had her talk in the mirror to pull herself together. She talked with sweetie.
01:07:32
Speaker
because she was so upset about not getting promoted, but then she gets asked to go on the plane. So she's like getting herself ready. She's all positive. And as she's like walking over the plane, she goes, who else is rearing and ready to fly high? just so dorky. I forgot about that. That's great as well.
01:07:52
Speaker
ah Awesome. Well, dull knives. There's going to be some knives that are dull here. Babe, I'm looking at your notes. do You have a full page. I have selected three.
01:08:04
Speaker
So the first thing, I thought that the pan over, or so I don't know if that's like a dolly across, whatever, where there's the sign that says executive offices and an arrow pointing this way. And Linda walks through frame this way and camera's tracking with her. She goes and leaves frame and then it goes into all of her books about survivor, surviving, survivor the show. I just thought that was like a little, it was, it was very, i mean, it was showing, not telling, but it was really telling the audience. I thought that was just like a little heavy handed and kind of cartoonish.
01:08:42
Speaker
um The other, so that was that one. I thought that the time lapse air quotes, the first time Linda leaves him, we're supposed to believe a whole day has passed. So the camera moves across um Bradley several times in different emotional states stay saying different things like I could do this all day and like he's yeah whatever. whatever The lighting doesn't change at all. When you brought that up, it's so distracting to me now when I watch it. It's just like it's just the same light that all and you're you understand as you know, if you're someone who's seen a movie that we're supposed to infer that time is passing. But the light on his face is exactly the same.
01:09:28
Speaker
And then so we have all these movements across him. And then we pull back for the wide and the sun is like- Down. On the on the water and the light is like- the horizon. Orange and red. and It's so funny. It's just like, what a weird choice to try and convey time passing. We are always so concerned about where the sun is or where the light is, where where the key light's coming from.
01:09:51
Speaker
But in this transition, they just did not give a shit. I think they just let him a lot of takes to say some funny shit and they filmed it all at once. But it read like that. Yeah, it read like that. Just keep going back and forth. Yep.
01:10:06
Speaker
And then the third thing. I feel like a lot of this movie was very... It gave the impression it was very well-researched about survival and construction and all those things.
01:10:18
Speaker
The blue-ringed octopus. Can you set up the scene? The scene is the scene is this. Right. right I think it's the next day. Right after Linda has been poisoned, she and she rescues Bradley from the ocean.
01:10:38
Speaker
She says, hey, we need to get your strength up again. ha, ha I made this for you. And feeds him a little seafood kebab. And the first thing he eats is a very small octopus. And then he starts to foam at the mouth and get really rigid. And she says, oh that's a blue ringed octopus.
01:11:01
Speaker
And when I first saw this movie, I was very, I was like, oh, wow, she just killed him. And the reason I thought this is because the blue ringed octopus has enough venom to kill 20 adult humans in a single octopus. Yeah, it's extremely venomous, right? It's one of the most venomous animals on earth. And it's so venomous that my childhood best friend's dad sold insurance because Wait, sorry, isn't it poisonous? Venomous is if it bites you. And they do bite you. They do?
01:11:33
Speaker
Yeah, they have they inject venom, but if you're eating their whole body. It's also poisonous. Yeah. It's both in this case. Yes, it is venomous when it bites you, but if you are eating it- It's poisonous. It is also poisonous because you were ingesting. It's venom, I would say.
01:11:48
Speaker
But my childhood best friend's dad sold insurance and he refused to insure a pet store because they had a blue ringed octopus and their bites are so sharp that you sometimes don't even feel that you have been bitten until you go into respiratory arrest because your diaphragm has been paralyzed.
01:12:08
Speaker
So when he ate a whole blue ringed octopus, I was like, oh shit, this guy is done. And then she even used the full Latin name, the whatever, whatever. It won't kill you. I was like, girl, yes, it will. So that was my- That's weird miss.
01:12:23
Speaker
I think it was- so They leaned so heavily into it. Yeah, I think it was like a trusting that most people don't know the relative venomousness of animals. Do you think it's the difference between like like you, if a rattlesnake bites you, that's very venomous, but you could still eat rattlesnake.
01:12:41
Speaker
So like maybe it's like it's not as impactful if you eat if it bites you. Well, I don't think you eat a rattlesnake's venom glands. I think you eat their muscles when they've been cooked. No, that's right. But that's what saying. Like he ate the cooked โ€“ maybe since it was cooked, it wasn't as impactful. Yeah, maybe it's supposed to. Maybe. We should try But it's like, hey, do you want to eat an inland taipan? Like no, that's the most venomous snake on earth. What? An inland taipan? Yeah, it's really โ€“ That's something you get at Target.
01:13:10
Speaker
It's a type pan.
01:13:13
Speaker
It does. That's what you make your pad Thai in. yeah Yes. We just had Thai food today. Hey, had Thai food. We're connecting it all. It's all connected. um Any more dull knives? I have a couple. Unless, Trav, have some.
01:13:27
Speaker
I don't have anything distinct right now. Unfortunately, from my notes, I i was much more loving of the film. i wasn't calling stuff out. So...

Critique of Survival Details and Character Morality

01:13:38
Speaker
Was Sweetie okay for all those weeks? Or do are we assume that the cockatiel, what is it? Cockatiel. A cockatiel just had somebody keep they taking care of him? or I imagine when it became national news that a plane went down and these people went missing. Yeah, someone probably went to her apartment. Somebody probably did something about that. I don't know. You're probably right.
01:14:02
Speaker
She was very lonely though. Yeah. Did anybody know she had a bird? I did think this. Like who had a key to her apartment? If she's if she's talking to herself in the mirror after that letdown. Or the other person she's talking to is Sweetie. Yeah. As landlord. Sweetie has the apartment key.
01:14:17
Speaker
Sometimes it's not the person who cares about you the most, but the person who's expecting the rent check to come in. You might have been like, all right, what's going on here? Go find the bird. So hopefully he got there in time. Yeah, it finds way to elicit sympathy for ah yeah the the art of real estate.
01:14:33
Speaker
poor land Good guy landlords saving birds. They exist, I guess, sometimes. um We already talked the CGI. Oh, yeah. They're on this island for so many weeks. There's no razors or anything.
01:14:46
Speaker
no armpit hair on on Linda and no beard on Bradley. What's going on with that? Implausible. like What's going on with that? What is going on with that? I'm just asking the questions here.
01:15:00
Speaker
um No sunburns either. I thought his dick did sunburn. Is that not part of the movie? Trav, what? What?
01:15:11
Speaker
It's been a while.
01:15:14
Speaker
Is there already a porn parody of this movie that Travis stumbled upon? Maybe it was, there's a Naked and Afraid episode where I think the guy gets his junk sunburned and maybe I'm conflating the two. but I mean, I just watched this movie 15 minutes ago.
01:15:30
Speaker
sunburned dick? sunburned dick in that movie. Travis probably, we had an old bit on this show that a lot of the movies he watched had full frontal like male nudity. And so it was our we would have like we would discuss hanging dong. Oh, there's hanging dong in this movie.
01:15:44
Speaker
I think, Trav, I think you're just, you are projecting that you're manifesting that. Really a missed, missed opportunity for Raimi. Like that is horror inducing is like some dude laying out in the sun and getting his junk sunburned.
01:15:58
Speaker
Well, we'll, so we'll be sure to send a fan letter Sam Raimi and say, what do you do is send help to one one nitpick there. I would have changed if it was me. Um, my only other one was, um,
01:16:10
Speaker
Her story about letting her husband die ah getting into a car, she is also putting other people in danger. We see Linda Little as this nice person, but it was that and then probably killing two people that probably tells us that she's not always thinking about other people and that maybe ambition, which is how you win and survivor in that show. You're nice. People aren't finishing last in that show or finishing first in that show.
01:16:35
Speaker
um So those are my those are my dull knives. All right, winners and losers.

Production Praise and Gender Themes

01:16:41
Speaker
um i had i had winners by department. Hair department, huge win. Being able to make ah Rachel McAdams' hair look so stringy and greasy, hard work. Really put in some time there. um Greens department, huge win. Most of the set deck in this show...
01:17:02
Speaker
was greens, was plants, and was um a lot of the foreground elements in the show were palm fronds or leaves in that space. So that is, you know, there's a whole department dedicated to making sure that looks right. It looks good too. Everything she was making, little hats and...
01:17:23
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know if that becomes props at that point, but I was looking at the big just expanses of. Oh, I see, like the foilage. Yeah, the big expanses of work that the Greens crew would have had to do looked pretty extensive.
01:17:37
Speaker
um And then the special effects department, they, special effects is in charge of wind and water and fire, basically the four elements. um And the flooding of the plane, the big rainstorms with the driving wind and the huge rain towers. And then there was one scene with a couple, I think they were whip pans back and forth, I can't remember, but where all of a sudden it very quickly starts raining on Bradley and then stops very quickly. There is a huge amount of work that goes into moving around that volume of water on a set. So um Yeah, special effects department, huge winners here. And then um my personal favorite winner, women excelling in male-dominated fields. Strategy and planning? Revenge, construction, construction.
01:18:28
Speaker
I mean, yeah golf. on like She becomes a golfer at the end. Yeah, just women in male-dominated fields, huge women. Can talk about that match cut at the very end? So good. the golf club does bradley To her hitting a golf ball in the course. Yeah, so good. That's definitely a winner for me. 100%. Yeah.
01:18:49
Speaker
Yeah, especially since her lack of playing golf was what one of the reasons she was passed up for promotion. Yeah, someone who golfs. Yeah, but now she's in the 19th Celebrity Open. Good for her. Good for her. um I like that.
01:19:02
Speaker
I got as a winner. my My main winner was adhering to flight attendants when they tell you to fasten your seatbelt and put your tray table in the upright and stowed position. Yes.
01:19:13
Speaker
Turns out great for her. if If her colleagues would have done the same, maybe they would have survived that plane crash. Dono be around. Yeah. Poor Dono. You know it's bad when the flight attendant buckles up. When I was watching it the first time, i don't love being on a plane. I think if I was meant to fly, I'd have wings. Similarly, scuba diving, bad. If I was meant to breathe underwater, I would have gills. So when I would freak out on planes, my parents would say, look at the flight attendants. They're not panicking. They're still walking around with their drink cart. You're fine, kid. So watching this movie, the flight attendant very quickly sits down, buckles up, and I was like, well, this is going to go bad for us. What? Yeah.

Nostalgia and Criticism

01:19:55
Speaker
I had Christmas parties, ah specifically corporate Christmas parties. Now, I disliked overall my time in corporate America, but I didn't hate everything.
01:20:06
Speaker
The money was nice. The ah like the quarterly meetings were fun because we go to cool places like baseball games and like then kind of talk about work.
01:20:17
Speaker
But also the Christmas parties were always just they were, as they say, off the hook because you saw C-level people. You saw junior assistants. You saw interns. You saw everybody just getting down on the dance floor, drinking the punch, talking about whatever.
01:20:35
Speaker
It was just a great time. And it sounds like Linda had a great time meeting Bradley and getting a little flirty and they didn't have to show anything. All they did was like mention a Christmas party. And I was like, good times it's in corporate America.
01:20:48
Speaker
i didn't hate it. So that was a win for me. um a winner for me. Survivor theme music. i that brought me back.
01:21:01
Speaker
I watched the first two seasons and I say i I watched them a lot because then I got them on VHS and like rewatch them. And i don't know. It just got me back in the mood. Were you guys survivor people at all?
01:21:13
Speaker
I only watched the first season. i loved it, but never stayed with the show. We did not have cable.
01:21:22
Speaker
Fact about this movie, they did originally film her whole self tape and they wanted to, they talked originally about having it be during the credits, playing during the credits. Oh, why did they? To stick with the sort of emotional tone of the ending is what I read, but it is available to view on YouTube. Oh, might have to watch that.
01:21:44
Speaker
I'd like to see Linda Little doing some survivor things. I like a few shots of it we got while the guys are watching on the plane. So I'll have to see the full tape now. um Another winner, alliteration names.
01:21:57
Speaker
You had ah the reporter at the end, Polly Pereira. You had the main character, Linda Little. And then you also had, I really like this variation of a negative Nancy. She called Bradley a gloomy Gus, which I'm going to start using.
01:22:13
Speaker
Negative Nancy is so 2025, 2026 and onwards. Stop being gloomy twenty twenty so six and onwards stop being in a gloomy guss um Any losers for you folks?
01:22:25
Speaker
Yeah, i had a tuna sandwiches. you know They're catching strays in this film. and Honestly, I love a good tuna sandwich. I was very upset to see this. Noxious odors.
01:22:37
Speaker
Yeah. ah Island wine hangovers that looked brutal, that looked tough. I've been that hungover before from a really sweet drink. I've having also drank, drinking, drunk, drink, drink, drink. Having consumed homemade alcohol, it really hurts in then in the morning.
01:22:59
Speaker
ah Yeah, the ingenuity has a price to pay sometimes. Yes, pain behind your eyes when the sun hits it. ah Biggest loser of this whole movie, Fade to Black. You hated it. It was so jarring. it The transitions were terrible. What it cut back into made only tangential sense because we were still watching the same movie. It had no narrative play that I could tell. It just, it made the whole thing feel...
01:23:31
Speaker
as if the very thing Sam Raimi did not want to happen had happened. And this was a movie that had commercial intercuts in it as if it had been produced straight to streaming. right Why would you do this?
01:23:45
Speaker
It is interesting because if you want to convey the passing of time, it's usually a crossfade into another scene, right? Or if you're fading to black, someone's going to sleep or getting knocked out or we're implying sex. Like,
01:24:01
Speaker
It was just like it's a black and then it's the same day. Like what are if It wasn't even like daybreak when the thing comes back. Like the next scene. Yeah. What are we doing? I think that that it just was very jarring and took me out of the whole thing. Maybe he's a fan of Metallica.
01:24:19
Speaker
It's a good song. You know what? Maybe he is. That's enlightening. I missed that. And you're absolutely right. So you make me feel like the yeah better film watcher now for knowing this. I'm going be judging all future movies if I see a fade to black when it's not necessary.
01:24:36
Speaker
um A loser I had was giving your shoes names. Weird. I didn't like that. Why are you calling them Little Mules? And I didn't get it until I watched it the third time with subtitles. She called them Little Mules because her last name is Little. L-I-D-D-L-E.
01:24:52
Speaker
A little creepy. Didn't like it. The shoes never really came into play. What's going on here? Yeah, we made such a big deal of the shoes. I thought there would be more there. um Another one I had was fucking loser ass coworkers who don't know Blondie.
01:25:10
Speaker
How do you not know Blondie? Gen Z. ah these people they look like elderly millennials yeah they're our age and they're like talking about going to a cool karaoke spot and Linda seems cool and she's like one way or another that's oh that's my song who really doesn't know that song yeah will sing it for us yeah will you sing it I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha yes yes yeah got um
01:25:41
Speaker
Yes, i I completely agree. i had um You guys will probably only cry crocodile tears, but ah the owner of that nice mansion on the island was was in for Rude Awakening, and so I have them as a loser when he gets back to his house. Or her house.
01:25:56
Speaker
Or their house. Or their house. ah Yeah, they're losers anyways for ah you know taking that that like pure piece of indigenous land and laying pipe.
01:26:10

Is it indigenous if no one lives there? This is Sarah's territory. Oh, I'm not involving myself here. You're talking about laying pipe. um i'm I'm out here. meant laying foundation and then putting pipes into the ground is to a beautiful island. They should just left it alone. Rich people can have their fun elsewhere. Yeah. So I'm agreeing with you, Travis. He's a loser anyways, but now he's a double loser because he's coming home to his knives being stolen and stuff and a dead body being there.
01:26:37
Speaker
Dead body. and the The whole area is trashed from the last fight scene. Yeah. i'll afford it His nice golf club might be broken. Yeah. Didn't she pull it off the wall?
01:26:50
Speaker
think so. So awesome. It was a nice place. What do you think that place goes for? 20? I'd think more. You're getting a private island with it?
01:27:02
Speaker
think you're looking like north of 40 million. Yeah. but it But it is a private island. There's no other homes on it. Right. So does the value go down if I put a little home on the other side, like a little two bedroom and bath?
01:27:14
Speaker
He might own the entire island. You say he doesn't own the island. I feel like the play there, again, I can't quite relate. This is out of my real estate ballpark. haven't done this deal before. I feel like he owns the entirety of it. Private island is not getting a great rap these days. So maybe not the best investment plan. Share your island with at least one other person. Don't have it be your own. And don't put your last name as the name of the island.
01:27:43
Speaker
Bad play. All right. um Who's our... I think it is a a... This is one of those cases where it is a clear winner to me, our scream king or queen.
01:27:54
Speaker
I don't know if you guys feel the same way. I do. i think we're I think we're all the same. Should say it on three? Should we all say it six times? love doing this. Travis is doing it again. I love doing it. On the count three, or counting down from three, three, two, one.
01:28:11
Speaker
Rachel McAdams. Rachel McAdams. I didn't know if we were doing the character name or the actor name. I didn't know what to say. I was going to say Linda Little. That would have been bad. Is that your queen? Yeah.
01:28:22
Speaker
I guess we're doing actor names. my Well, we did, but that can your your screen queen can be the character. That's okay. Oh, no, I was trying. I was so thinking the same thing. Oh, the performance. I didn't know what to say. It is Rachel McAdams. Yes, I agree. i agree.
01:28:38
Speaker
Yeah. Glad she got a leading role here in a different type of movie that she's normally in. um Would like to see her hoist the statuette one day. underutilized as we've said.
01:28:50
Speaker
She needs to be in more. that This is not going Academy Award nominated film. So she'll get another opportunity. Some people are saying that she might get a nomination for the Golden Globes because the there's two different categories, right? There's drama or comedy or musical and that this might be get her nestled into a comedy and that she could get a nomination. like ah Much like Hugh Grant for The Heretic.
01:29:15
Speaker
Okay, but that is not an Academy Award. It's not. It's not, but sometimes you can't have it all. Okay. What are we doing next week, Trav? Is it Hokum?
01:29:27
Speaker
ah Yeah, think we're doing Hokum. Staying the flame of 26 films that we missed the boat on and we're now trying to make up for lost time. Yeah. um Thank you for joining us, Sarah. Sarah, heard Delight.
01:29:41
Speaker
Oh, thank you. I had a great time. This was a lot of fun. I was very nervous at the beginning. You found your way. You settled in something nice. Yeah, real natural. for For a woman who's only seen like 27 films, you you seem to know what you're talking about.
01:29:57
Speaker
You know what? Maybe I'll make it 28. Maybe I'll watch a movie tomorrow. Who knows? Whoa. I mean, the kitchen still needs to be painted. Oh, you're so right. I don't have time to watch a movie. I'll watch the movie.
01:30:08
Speaker
but I'm going to go watch paint dry. all right. Well, thank you guys for listening. And we'll see you next week. Fade to black.
01:30:32
Speaker
Bye. Do you know that when you get a vasectomy, you keep your balls? Oh.
