This week on Dopey’s Greatest Hits! Dave revisits the emotional, hilarious and completely chaotic first-ever DopeyCon.

Before the replay, Dave talks DopeyCon 2026, his growing number of public encounters with Dopey Nation, listener comments, the Beatles and the limited-edition Iron Maiden Dopey shirt. Adam Byrd of Wreckage Disciple delivers an instant-classic voicemail about getting shot through the foot during a drive-by—then returning to his motel to smoke crack instead of going to the hospital.

Then it’s back to the original DopeyCon, recorded shortly after Chris died. Dave’s father Alan delivers Jewish guilt, Bill Blaber recounts a terrifying meth-psychosis odyssey involving Satan, an escape from court and an attempted stabbing, and Ray shares a beautiful story about a homeless man who helped her during one of her lowest moments.

Namaste at Home brings an incredible PCP-at-a-baby-shower story, Ray Brown performs the original Dopey song, and acclaimed author Nick Flynn reads poems about addiction, hidden Vicodin and the darkest corners of recovery. Chris’s sister Arden O’Connor remembers trying to rescue her brother from a Harlem drug dealer and reflects on the hope created by the Dopey community.

Finally, Dave explains the accidental formula behind Dopey’s success—the “rope-a-dope”—before remembering Todd and Chris, telling the legendary Mexican-food seizure story and closing the first DopeyCon with “Forever in Debt.”
